[4:28] This went out so it's nice meeting is it's Monday 29 September with 7pm1 oh five in J streets, connecting New York and the details of this connecting City council will book the special meeting review application for the housing stability task force. Notice was sending out by the floor to all council members as well as the meeting.
[4:48] Yeah, Tonight the sole topic will be to discuss the applications for individuals to remain to the healthness ability to ask force. There will be the process will be that we will discuss the, the process of how we will decide in public.
[5:07] And once we make the decisions on the process that we're going to use to make these decisions, we will then have to go into an executive session as we discuss individual applications and useful names. So are there any questions about surrounding that?
[5:23] Okay, in this case I will turn it over to the chair of the housing Stability Task Force. Thank you, council president. And thank you everyone for being here for this special meeting tonight and for putting energy into, into this discussion.
[5:43] And the ongoing discussions that we'll have over the next hundred and 20 days.
[5:49] As you all know, mr. Mancy had 1st put out for us to have the housing stability task force, and, you know, I appreciate his work to start us off. So we have received 20 applications from community members that are interested in.
[6:09] Being on the task force, you'll recall that folks need to be residents of the, of the city of s Connectedity and these individuals are indeed all residents of the city of of connectivity. Hopefully we'll have a good mix of landlords, tenants, folks from the various norm.
[6:29] Some profits that represent housing issues, and any kinds of advocates and I, we definitely have that mix within the application pool. So.
[6:41] We can, in terms of the process for how we're going to go about discussing this tonight, I have some suggestions, but I'm open to hearing what other folks think in terms of the process that we'll use once we go into executive session. I'm thinking a couple of things we can either.
[7:01] You know, start at the beginning of the alphabet and the spreadsheet and and talk about people this way or we could also if folks have already figured out in terms of looking at the applications yourselves and you have some strong ideas about, you know, these three people are my top choices, maybe it'll turn out that we all have, you know, some.
[7:21] Or types of of choices and we can sort of take it from there. So I'm open to hearing what other folks were thinking in terms of what we might do Tonightfield. So I think we definitely need to pay attention to the categories that we've laid out that are laid out and and how people identify themselves within that.
[7:41] So that we make sure that that we not only have a good mix for in terms of neighborhoods, but we also have a good mix in terms of category of which were rental attendance cannot be landlord property owner of less than ten units, legal or housing justice advocate, nonprofit but community based organization, government staff.
[8:01] And then the last categories other people didn't put in whatever so I when I review the applications I took into consideration the categories that we said that we would have to make sure we had a, a good mix among that. The other thing is that I took into consideration would like us to take into consideration is to make sure that.
[8:21] There's a representation of neighborhoods.
[8:24] Across the city of possible, so that it's not all concentrated in more than one, it's not all concentrated in just one or two neighborhoods and finally everything I suggest that we not have more than one person from the same organization or business to be task force so that there's we can get as much of.
[8:44] Of that as much diversity invoice as we can. I made a chart myself and hopefully others did as well, so I did you know I went through all the applications and determined who were, who were landlords, who were tenants, who were nonprofits. And of course in some cases.
[9:01] We have people that represent, they might be a landlord and represent a nonprofit or, you know, that kind of thing. So we have some, we have a few people that overlap in categories as well, which is kind of interesting. How about other folks, any any thoughts or ideas?

I'd like to just go down alphabetically how they are on the spreadsheets I mean instead of and then we can all voice our our opinions as they're as they're listed here on the spreadsheet, so you know I do have I went through spent a lot of time going through the applications and again there's multiple, you know.

[9:38] Sometimes landlords multiple categories that a lot of the individuals blowing in. I hadn't thought about the neighborhoods yet until I'm just looking right now at their, at their their addresses here, so that's something I wanna mark my individuals on as well, but I do have everyone read it, you know, in an offic orders as they apply.

Even if we start and go down alphabetical order, then what we want to do is identify as a group as to what category applicant falls within, and once we can kind of draw a consensus on like whether it's based on.
[10:20] Under how how they self identified on this or for those who overlap.
[10:25] Then we can kind of have a discussion about what category South applicant falls in and then once we do that, then we can kind of discuss like where that applicant and what, you know, qualification that they bring to the table is the justification as to why we're making whatever determination that we're making.
[10:45] No. Just to be clear, so I may I took a different approach in terms of applications. I I chose our goal was to choose at least so I narrowed my number down to ten.

[11:07] List every single person to and give them what we were supposed to get to eight. So I worked looked at the applications and narrowed it down. I tried to get to eight, but I could only get to ten. So I figured that I would share the ten that I had come up with and hopefully we will see some, you know, some people with the same similar.
[11:27] But again in choosing those, I still into consideration whether neighborhood they lived in, and that there was not another individual that I chose, you know, there was more than one from the same organization or business. So my list was.
[11:43] Little bit more narrow, I guess. Yeah, I, I I to have, you know, a top, I think it's more than eight, but same thing like I'm gonna have to narrow them down because it's not in our conversations this evening, but.
