[12:24] general fund are about 20% of the

[12:26] budget. Uh for sewer fund about 14% of

[12:29] the budget and for library fund about

[12:30] 16.8% of the budget. Uh the sales tax

[12:33] distribution looks like June once again

[12:36] was very good thanks to Belmont weekend

[12:38] which is obviously the final Belmont

[12:40] weekend. So, uh, the village

[12:43] distribution for August, which is

[12:45] usually a two-month leading, uh,

[12:47] scenario. So, it goes back to June, uh,

[12:50] was 147,214.

[12:53] That is up from 127393. So, $20,000 gain

[12:56] there. Um, that's that's a nice, uh,

[12:59] chunk of change uh, differential. So, we

[13:01] appreciate that. And thanks to Melissa

[13:04] for all the great information. Year-to

[13:06] date. Uh so 6 months essentially of the

[13:10] year to date we're up uh at least

[13:12] countywide by about 10.6%.

[13:15] So a healthy uh show there. Who knows

[13:18] what's next? Who knows how much of that

[13:20] is also gas related uh because of the

[13:22] price of fuel and there's been a gas

[13:25] holiday or it's a gas tax holiday on

[13:27] that. So things to think about uh about

[13:30] whether or not that continues or not and

[13:32] economic conditions could always change

[13:34] but nice to see it at least holding up

[13:35] for now.

[13:40] um yes the business association they

[13:43] recently had their uh second annual

[13:46] peachfest. It was very busy and um I was

[13:50] told that all the vendors had sold out

[13:52] which was fantastic. Um, but one of the

[13:54] things that they remarked is that people

[13:56] stayed in town. They stayed at the

[13:58] market. They stayed downtown. Uh, which

[14:00] is kind of the point. Business

[14:02] association works really hard to get

[14:04] people in the village shopping and um,

[14:06] very thankful for their efforts. Uh, the

[14:08] market's continuing on Saturdays until

[14:11] October 3rd uh, from 9:00 to 1. And then

[14:14] concerts, the last two concerts are

[14:16] coming up this Thursday and the next

[14:18] Thursday, Proton and Cersei. That's at

[14:21] Iron Springs Park. Uh the final movie in

[14:24] the park is more of a date night. It's

[14:26] on first Friday in September. It's going

[14:27] to be 51st dates and um generally that's

[14:31] all it's got now for the business

[14:33] association and we're plugging along.

[19:45] consulting firm. Now, he asked a

[19:52] to take this with me essentially um

[19:55] because he has been pretty much the

[19:57] principal and only you know at least

[20:00] major participant at Fiser with respect

[20:03] to the zoning code. Uh I said uh you

[20:06] know we did have a bidding process per

[20:08] se an interview process in focused on

[20:12] consulting firms so I need to talk to

[20:15] the board to make sure what their

[20:16] intentions are on this and we can maybe

[20:18] move forward from there at the next

[20:20] meeting if we uh end up in that

[20:22] direction. Go ahead.

[20:58] idea of adaptive reuse and uh filling

[21:01] some holes in the code with respect to

[21:04] uh buildings that might

[21:07] that we might want to keep, you know, in

[21:10] place in some form or another, at least

[21:12] most of the building. and uh allowing

[21:15] uses that might not otherwise fit the

[21:17] code but would be still conducive in the

[21:19] neighborhoods or locations that they're

[21:21] located. Uh thinking the South Street

[21:24] School area perhaps the Lakewood Manor

[21:26] say existing shell if that were to be uh

[21:28] reused and others uh out there as well.

[21:31] Uh you know not every building qualifies

[21:34] for this. We're talking like in

[21:35] institutional type uses, uh, school type

[21:38] uses, churches, stuff like that that

[21:40] might be able to still stand with the

[21:43] different use inside if they were ever

[21:44] abandoned for the intended use, but the

[21:49] desire to keep those buildings in place,

[21:51] but not hinder what could happen

[21:54] necessarily inside them if it's again

[21:57] conducive. And it's a lot of words that

[22:00] have to be placed in it to build the

[22:02] guard rails and guide rails in it. So

[22:04] that's why I wanted to send to the board

[22:05] before I ever sent it to Chris to say,

[22:08] you know, this is something we should

[22:09] do. So look forward to that. Uh

[22:12] basically, go ahead.

[27:15] was our largest one yet. We had, all

[27:18] estimates point to close to 2,000 people

[27:22] mother nature went, so that's a little

[27:24] bit. We had a couple showers come

[27:26] through. Um

[27:29] the fun box that program for the cigar

[27:33] underprivilege that they compete

[27:35] uh again was a huge success. We had

[27:38] several of the coupons turned back back

[27:40] in which thank you to Michael Zado and

[27:43] St. Mary's church for that program

[27:46] >> and Deb Dugan obviously for

[27:48] >> Deban who just came out of being ill. We

[27:52] were her first outing which was awesome

[27:55] to see her out and about again. some

[27:56] guests. So, she worked with us. Um, the

[28:00] number of vendors, the number of

[28:01] volunteers, uh, the Balsy Spot Fire

[28:03] Department, um, the task force who clips

[28:07] up with me this time of year.

[28:14] department, um, they actually had a

[28:16] booth and were making I believe at one

[28:20] point, right?

[28:25] Um the your staff the cat and candy

[28:29] queen over there you've been replaced.

[28:59] kids, little kids, so excited to get a

[29:01] backpack with full supply and you think

[29:05] that they got gold. I mean, it was

[29:06] amazing. Why we do it? We do it for the

[29:09] community and the community really

[29:11] turned out and hopefully next year

[29:13] mother nature gets back on our meds and

[29:15] we have a good Oh, and the fireworks in

[29:17] San Fort I got to thank them. They they

[29:20] gave us a show well worth beyond what

[29:23] they charge us. There's a ball and spot

[29:25] ti there. The woman that did the

[29:27] booking, born and raised in Boston

[29:29] spots. She had a soft spot for balls and

[29:31] spots. They take really good care of us.

[29:33] Just everybody was phenomenal. All of

[29:34] our sponsors. We took in a nice sum of

[29:38] money to actually pay the fireworks.

[29:41] And um yeah, that's it. It was a great

[32:03] is around 6:00 a.m. Okay. In most cases,

[32:08] uh depends on whether it's a a

[32:11] residential area or a commercial area,

[32:13] but I happen to live in an area

[32:16] commercial area. Actually, my my

[32:18] property is commercial. Um

[32:23] but there's a problem because every week

[32:27] our our friends from uh County Waste are

[32:30] emptying the dumpsters at 5:00 a.m. So

[32:33] at 5:00 a.m. it sounds like explosions

[32:36] going off. And if you sit there and

[32:38] listen, it goes bang up by my place. And

[32:40] then the next one, it goes all the way

[32:42] down through the town. And then at 6:00,

[32:45] they got another round that comes

[32:46] through.

[32:49] I know enforcement of that is supposedly

[32:51] done by the police department, but if

[32:53] the village could maybe make a call to

[32:56] the county waste and say, "By the way,

[32:59] as we've said in the past, the ordinance

[33:02] says nothing before. for at 6:00 a.m. It

[33:07] would just make it easier for the

[33:08] residents to maybe get in the morning on

[33:12] Thursday.

[34:37] negative give a little bit of passion

[34:39] and it makes you think back to you know

[34:40] what represents boss spa I know it's fun

[34:42] to joke that there's an objection at the

[34:44] race it's almost typical fashion for

[34:46] boss spa and then you know this purple suit and shoes phenomenal u but you know it goes little

[34:52] of the village of friends and you know

[34:55] probably the best thing of that day was

[34:57] there was a young man that was

[34:58] recognized uh at the end of the race um

[35:01] and you know forgive him I'm a little

[35:03] bit of a storyteller but um of my four

[35:05] children and I have one who sort of

[35:08] moved to the beat of his own drum uh and

[35:10] I remember this young man one time we uh

[35:13] said hey go out and invite some people

[35:14] to you know date a bus like the last

[35:16] picture on his birthday party nobody

[35:19] showed up except for this one young man

[35:21] who showed up and he sort of knew he

[35:22] goes nobody's showing up for your son he

[35:24] goes well you know I'm doing the right

[35:25] thing to show up for your

[35:27] I'm that was just amazing. He had that

[35:30] sense. This was if I could probably

[35:31] elementary school. He had that sense

[35:33] back then and I sort of followed him

[35:35] throughout the years. He was also

[35:36] friends with my other son. They were in

[35:38] robotics together and he just was a very

[35:40] talented young man and he was at that

[35:43] race and he was invited back to where

[35:46] normally the owners would be celebrate

[35:47] their winnings and the celebr

[35:56] and and to see that that is what it

[35:59] means again to you know be in this

[36:00] village to be a village craft. He was a

[36:02] friend to my son when my son needed him

[36:04] the most and he was recognized as a

[36:06] truly outstanding young man that he is

[36:08] to this day and what he's going through.

[36:10] And yesterday was would have been the

[36:12] birthday of my mother who passed a

[36:14] couple years ago and she was a third

[36:16] grade teacher and she'd tell you she was

[36:18] still alive to this day. He gives you

[36:20] impact. They are the future. When they

[36:23] become adults, they remember those

[36:24] little moments where you gave them a

[36:26] chance to truly truly shine. So of all

[36:29] the things I saw of that uh again it was

[36:31] a great time but those lucky greatest

[36:33] impact and I have to thank you for that

[36:35] mayor because again that's the impact

[36:37] you have on the future generations of

[36:39] the village and it's those little quiet

[36:41] moments nobody sees no cameras there's

[36:43] no spotlight there's no social media

[36:45] it's just giving that young man a chance

[36:47] to shine he truly deserved that after

[36:49] you know but I'm sure he's done with

[36:51] countless people not just myself so

[36:53] >> 10 seconds

[36:54] >> absolutely and again thank you to all of

[36:56] you because again I noticed out there is

[36:58] not always the easiest thing to do and

[37:00] whether you're going around at the hot

[37:01] sun during the art fair to make sure

[37:02] George is doing good or showing up to

[39:44] there and then we'll see if uh we're

[39:51] design and engineering, all that stuff.

[39:53] Uh with respect to Village Hall, uh

[39:56] first would love to get it painted also.

[39:58] Uh and I've talked to Randy Elliot about

[40:01] helping us figure out who we can get to

[40:03] do it for a reasonable price. And some

[40:05] of the structural stuff appears to be

[40:06] overstated uh with respect to the

[40:08] retaining wall from folks we've talked

[40:11] to, but uh we do want to still do the

[40:13] vault and also look at refacing that

[40:15] wall uh to at least uh contain the

[40:18] little bit of the stuff that was

[40:19] starting to fall off of it. Uh so we'll

[40:22] uh you know continue down that path as

[40:24] well. Uh and just in general, and I said

[40:27] it yesterday on Facebook, I'm going to

[40:29] say it again. Wednesday is an

[40:31] opportunity for this village to really,

[40:33] you know, voice their opinions, voice

[40:35] their thoughts on a controversial topic.

[40:37] There's no doubt about it. And I always

[40:40] say two things and one I said especially

[40:42] yesterday, but I'll say uh another part

[40:44] generally integrity matters in terms of

[40:48] you know stay on facts, stay on

[40:52] reasonable opinions, don't inflame, you

[40:54] know, it's it's a discussion at the end

[40:56] of the day. It's not an indictment. And

[40:58] I think that's the biggest thing I

[41:00] always ask of folks in those uh moments

[41:02] is to stay calm, stay rational, stay

[41:04] full of integrity in what you say and do

[41:07] in those situations. And you know, just

[41:11] be respectful in general to your

[41:13] neighbors, to the boards who really they

[41:17] might as well be volunteers for a little

[41:18] bit of money. We give them a stipen uh

[41:20] on the planning and zoning boards zoning

[41:22] board on Wednesday. Uh respect is key

[41:27] because it doesn't help anybody to

[41:31] inflame toward those members. It's it is

[41:35] hard enough of a job. We feel it

[41:37] ourselves from time to time, but you

[41:38] know, we take this on as responsibility.

[41:41] They're appointed and essentially, you

[41:43] know, give up their time for these

[41:45] situations because they love their

[41:46] community as much as you might as well.

[41:49] And you may not believe that just

[41:50] because they might hold a different

[41:52] position from you on this, but respect

[41:54] is so necessary in these uh situations.

[41:57] You know, we had the whole residency

[41:59] question back when because we do

[42:00] struggle sometimes to get people to sign

[42:02] up for these boards. And the best thing

[42:06] we can do to invite others inside of our

[42:08] own community, if that's the way we want

[42:09] to continue going down the line, is to

[42:11] make sure we treat them with respect so

[42:13] others will want to become part of that

[42:16] organization, that board, that

[42:17] committee, whatever. have you. So,

[42:19] please remember that. That's the only

[42:21] thing I uh really ask of anybody. Again,

[42:23] your opinions are yours. Your your facts

[42:26] are yours to present. Do it. You've got

[42:30] your time to do that in those uh public

[42:32] hearing moments. And we applaud that

[42:34] fact. That's what makes us the village

[42:35] of Boston spa besides just our community

[42:38] uh you know interest in the way that you

[42:40] uh spoke of Charlene but also the way we

[42:43] respect each other or supposed to

[42:44] respect each other and always carry

[42:47] ourselves with that integrity that I

[42:48] think is so important. So that's my
