[3:28] What was interesting is the first thing is since they had
[3:31] time, the representative for the Virginia Cooperative Extension
[3:35] gave a very extensive presentation about their role
[3:38] in the community as communities everywhere.
[3:44] I recommend everyone go back and look at that first 15 minutes
[3:51] because it was a very good presentation.
[3:52] And they did welcome a new member
[3:56] to the Planning Commission.
[3:58] I forget the gentleman previously
[4:00] who had retired after maybe 20 years of service
[4:03] on the Planning Commission.
[4:04] Then what they did is they moved into a work session
[4:08] and there are two items they worked on.
[4:11] One is a housing development in the eastern part of the county
[4:14] down there really by the eastern Montgomery School.
[4:19] Our good friend that we see often
[4:21] come to the hardest working men in the land use,
[4:24] Steve Simons was there for that, then
[4:27] that was followed by a smaller use request that
[4:30] is more here on prices fork road heading out
[4:35] towards Peppers Ferry Road.
[4:36] Someone wants to convert some of that land
[4:38] and build actually a wrestling facility.
[4:41] Training and whatnot.
[4:43] So they did their work session on that, at which point
[4:49] they exited their work session and then they
[4:51] did just what we do tonight where
[4:55] they did their little reports so that was that.

[6:29] so I believe that both items could be scheduled with plenty
[6:33] of time on the same evening.

[6:41] about the comprehensive plan update
[6:43] and do encourage you all to take a look at the survey
[6:45] and pass that on as you can two others in the community.
[6:50] And then if you have any ideas for staff for public engagement,

[6:59] and we are actively looking for places
[7:02] to go out and kind of meet the community where
[7:05] they are at events and such.

[8:13] we'll move forward with getting that updated and improved.

[8:19] Also, we had an update about the Arpa funding,
[8:22] the American Rescue Plan Act funding
[8:24] because we are coming up on the three years
[8:26] to spend it from today we had the Community Foundation and RV
[8:31] presented on their strengthening Blacksburg's child care
[8:35] workforce.
[8:35] It was a great presentation.
[8:37] I think it has made a lot of good efforts
[8:42] and we can move forward from there.
[8:45] I was very excited to hear them and then
[8:48] we also had live, work and grow, who
[8:51] helped with the Food Security Network presentation and we
[8:54] heard about all the ways trying to get food to everyone
[8:58] and that equally was inspiring and good to hear.
