Texas and as a result has a lot to do so who's
[0:07] in charge of overseeing that all of this gets 
done well that would be your local Commissioner's
[0:13] Court Commissioner's Court isn't the sort of 
Court you may think of when you hear the word
[0:25] you know what I mean the kind that settles 
disputes with Witnesses evidence and juries
[0:30] no Commissioner's Court is a special kind of 
business Court made up of one County Judge
[0:36] and four County Commissioners the County Judge 
serves as the presiding officer of the court
[0:41] with the four Commissioners representing each 
of their respective precincts you see every
[0:46] County in Texas no matter how big or small 
is divided into four precincts based on the
[0:51] County's population and the voters of each 
Precinct elect a commissioner to represent
[0:56] them in County matters and at least once a month 
sometimes we weekly Commissioners hold an open
[1:02] meeting called Commissioners court it's usually 
held on Mondays or Tuesdays it's here where they
[1:07] conduct County Business and make big County 
decisions like adopt the county budget and tax
[1:13] rates authorize County contracts approve budgeted 
purchases fill vacancies and county offices set
[1:19] County salaries and benefits as well as address 
matters of public health and safety they also
[1:24] deal with any issues relating to elections jails 
health districts Parks museums transportation
[1:30] it's a long list each commissioner is also 
in charge of overseeing projects on the roads
[1:35] and bridges of their Precinct so these matters 
come up very often before the court along with
[1:41] any other Precinct specific issues the local 
commissioner needs the court to address it's
[1:47] all important work and that's why you have 
a direct impact on who gets elected for the
[1:52] job it's also why Commissioners court is open to 
the public so county citizens like you can voice
[1:58] their opinions and speak directly to the issues 
that matter most to you its local accountability
[2:04] and accessibility at its finest so that's
