Thank you. Can you please take your seats? [14:48] >> We got a very hopefully a very short regular agenda here and wanted to. [14:51] >> First to get some some. General counsel. We need to identify are canvassing board [15:03] representative for the summer primary in a special plantation election. The [15:07] county attorney informs me that the mayor is the county commission's representative on [15:11] the canvassing board. Unless the mayor is unable to serve. And since I am unable to serve [15:18] under administrative code, the roll past is automatically to the vice mayor. If he's able [15:22] to serve. Vice mayor, can you serve? yes, I can okay. The county attorney also informs [15:31] me that I should point her alternate member or members. Is anyone willing to [15:35] volunteer? I'll be an alternate. You'll be an alternate, OK with your [15:40] mission. We give it 2 of them up. You have to we have to alternate council ago for 3. [15:49] Maybe the whole Okay. So so I'm gonna recognize Lamar Fisher and Michael, you Dean [15:55] as alternate members of the canvassing board. That business is done right? was [16:04] that. Was that a really good? It was a scripted to the strip. Well, okay. Great made [16:14] I want to take literally 60 seconds live. Some pictures for him when we went to Japan [16:22] and Taiwan, we signed her first agreement and then the whole goal is to see about [16:27] monetizing monetizing the agreement and I'll know in a couple months how we can [16:31] monetize the agreement with our business community. And I was signing an agreement with [16:35] the mayor of Kong County in Taiwan, Taiwan being our 4th largest trading partner. And [16:43] do we have those quick pictures? Because they're they're pretty there's not. [16:47] Those pictures Mike. Other up there. Okay. There's Keep on scrolling. Go next. [16:58] >> Your next And then we give the key to the county. And I think it's then hold it. The [17:03] gentleman in the middle is from the State Department. I don't know that don't know [17:07] invited them, but State Department and then we had some other people from sister [17:11] cities and and from Florida that came there. But otherwise, again, talked with [17:20] Sandy, Michael McDonald. I think we're on the same page and we're going to see how we [17:25] can monetize this. So we show that we're helping our community, our business [17:29] community and we'll get back August on that. That's it. Get rid of the picture. Thank you [17:34] what are you clapping for? >> I for government enter your meeting. ID followed by how [17:43] get everybody enter meeting ID. Please. count. You have not entered any committee. [17:55] This is our a billion-dollar telecommunication one. say Rowe, this meeting ID does not [18:01] exist. Okay. No more meeting ID's. Okay. Second, we're here regarding the. [18:13] >> The Spirit building. passed out something. I want to let everybody know what happened [18:17] yesterday. We had a meeting here yesterday was the people from Cisco Monica and her team [18:23] up to see how we Is there a way to save more money if we move if we move forward and if [18:28] it is, you see from down here instead of having big huge offices, which we don't need [18:35] to have standard offices. We reduce the office building from 100 and some million to [18:42] 70 Million. This is this in the people from Cisco which are here. These were not exact [18:46] numbers. But guesstimate numbers and basically comes down to 274 million, 600,000 [18:54] so basically, we added we saved if you look at the the white sheet just summarizing. [19:04] We saved basically 300, nearly 350 million, not 200 Million. We would save 300 and [19:10] 50 million dollars. I'm happy to have Monica go through show you how we know. We just [19:17] instead of taking the original numbers which are bigger offices and everything now we [19:22] have a point of saving 350 Million. And I just think that's important of taxpayer [19:29] money. that we can say and it's huge amount of money. know, go love for affordable [19:37] housing for a lot of other programs here. But holding up a sheet? Yes, sir. whenever [19:43] you get a chance to Monday night. Tuesday morning memo, this is item 2. Yes, OK, I [19:50] just want and what I've just open the item whenever you're right. And others were [19:54] preliminary comments. OK, so okay, so lets. >> We'll do that Tuesday [20:00] morning memo. And then we'll come back to this real quickly and then we'll move on to our [20:03] next Go ahead. Real quick. >> Tuesday agenda memorandum the following are submitted [20:09] for your consideration. [21:50] $573,054 to provide partial funding for the potential purchase of the property. One [21:55] member of the public has signed up to speak on the item. [22:02] >> Okay. unopened item to write Council of as it is. Monica who did this? Who who [22:08] typed this cheetah? Drafted this year? Staff those and your staff. [22:19] >> The 6/16/2026 spirit meeting that was yesterday and it it is. Who who directed [22:23] this, you know. I don't know, sir. Okay. So there's words in here that I don't like it. I [22:32] want to make sure everybody understands it says that the bare-bones spear renovation, [22:36] this is not. Do you have a copy of that you know what you're looking OK? probably [22:41] from. I want to show everybody. You've been to the Senator, you've been to the [22:50] building. Have you been building not it would have been in that so easily. I got [23:01] it's OK, I know many times. You only say it's OK. you've not that they're out. Okay. [23:08] You've been there have even. Okay. today I want to spend 3 full minutes bringing the [23:13] building deal. in the back. Let's bring the building. I just want you to see that. [23:20] It's actually 67 6, 1280 seconds. Can you go? So these are works. Okay. You won't [23:28] find. I just want you to see the workstations how this is just example of one of the 6 [23:32] floors keep going. This isn't so they have offices there, too. These are beautiful. That [23:41] brand new offices keep going. Another office keep going. Another office. This is a this [23:50] is just outside area of their offices. It's not all work stations keep going. You can't [23:58] continue. This is a every floor believe has a kitchen which obviously don't need [24:01] that every floor, as is everything again, this is the first floor when you walk in [24:08] this huge area for people to sit meet, keep going. This is just a quick 60nd video. Just [24:14] to give you an idea of the quality of the building and the carpeting looks brand new [24:19] everything there looks brand new and every floors the same. You can workstations that [24:23] look, brand new carpeting in offices. Also, you could move in. The plug is working. Air [24:31] conditioning is working electric twerking. If you had, obviously we have to things to [24:35] the building that's ready to move in right now, according to them, everything works [24:41] except there's you have to go. Comcast. Xfinity to get Internet. The only thing [24:45] that's not there is the Internet. Everything else works perfectly again. If you [24:53] know what or how many people Monica in in in one in How many people in your risk [24:58] management have workstations versus offices. >> Of the top? My head. So [25:05] don't know. But if I had to guess we have roughly 40 some 40 some folks and risk [25:09] management probably less than 5 have offices in the rest of them have. [25:15] >> So they would be using these workstations anyway. It's not like all of a sudden [25:17] we're pushing people to work stations do have other departments that with similar [25:22] similar situations where some people have a couple officers and then there's workstations [25:25] right? That's correct. Okay. So I went through Woods us COVID give us the original [25:32] numbers. And I said what if we put up 10 by 12 offices, you put drywall indoors and you [25:36] have obviously move some some vents for air conditioning. Some lights. And we just had [25:40] all 10 by 12 offices and got rid of everything and they said we can bring the price [25:45] down all this. These numbers here have to do with bringing the price down from from what [25:52] the original was down to 2.75. The cause. So that's where I get. We're saving nearly [26:02] 350 million dollars. 350 million versus the current, the current project. [26:07] That's before from administration 3 quarters of a billion dollars. So I mean, I [26:15] going to make public know I would never agreed to spend 3 quarters of a billion dollars [26:20] on a building. You guys can. I'm not going to and we could save the public 350 Million. [26:26] I'm not gonna say it again. So I wanted to to do that note, we item 2 and according to [26:34] council, it would be best that we do not take a vote today because we need all the [26:41] members here. If it's going to vote. Yes, we would need all the people here in person that [26:49] ideal. saying it correctly, Just tell me. Yes, yes, us. We have 5 votes here. Now it [26:55] would have to do that. But based on talking to counsel, I would have to reschedule defer [27:03] this and rescheduled for next week and have a special meeting next week. you know [27:09] you shouldn't do it, Mr. because we have people here, I think instead of deferring it, [27:13] we should let the people here speak and then we can take the vote next week by a of That's [27:19] fine. I just want to let everybody unless, you know, we have one speaker? There are 2 [27:27] speakers signed up and I have some questions for additional speaker. Okay. With the [27:29] speakers. In Clark. >> Eleanor in Oreana Davis. >> Do want to come on up. was [27:45] aviation. >> I am. Well, good morning to you, Mayor. Vice Mayor [27:55] Commissioners County administrator. >> And before you start, I [28:00] mean, the review in the back going to make sure if she's talking against what we're [28:04] doing, cut the mike that Mike cut the Michael Kay. Go ahead. I'm joking. [28:10] >> Yeah, I thank you so much for having me here. I am representing the city of Dania [28:14] Beach as the mayor. This is very sensitive item for us. I don't have to let you all know [28:20] what's going on with property taxes in Tallahassee. we need every single dollar that we [28:27] can save in the city of Dania Beach. This proposed Spirit Airlines campus would [28:35] represent a significant and long-term revenue, economic revenue loss for the city of [28:41] Dania Beach. I sat down with my CFO and city manager yesterday and it would be the [28:45] 1.2 million dollars in perpetuity. And I can understand if you're going to [28:50] have a cost savings. But if we get cost savings of one time as opposed to being able to [28:55] read generate revenue perpetuity for the city of Dania Beach. I also wanted to [29:01] say that the Spirit Airlines facility, it's not just the standard building office. This [29:07] is a specialized space that was specifically designed to serve airline headquarters and [29:14] aviation training center. We have specialized infrastructure and flight [29:21] simulators that I have personally one. The corporate layout is uniquely suited for [29:28] aviation industry. And so we would like to explore those options. I know that our city [29:33] manager has been in contact with the the greater Fort lighten rated Fort Lauderdale [29:41] Alliance, along with Kim Cohen, other people. And there are interested parties who are [29:46] interested in its turn. Key aviation facilities. So >> I'm asking for you all to [29:51] look at the large picture of looking at the revenue that we would be able to generate in [29:57] perpetuity. And look at that long-term goal of bringing economic development jobs to [30:01] the city of being a beat. >> This is the only facility that is like this in all of [30:07] Broward County. So we would not be able to just, you know, it's not just regular office [30:12] space. We are asking you to. >> Not vote in favor of this and that I respectfully oppose [30:19] acquisition of the Spirit Airlines property because it would eliminate and be a [30:25] reoccurring local development revenue with many units Halley's are already asking to [30:33] having facing unprecedented fiscal uncertainty. So we need your support to support the [30:39] city of Dania Beach and bring huge economic development with another company that would [30:45] work. >> generate revenue opportunity for our city and [30:47] county. >> Thank you. Thank you, Mayor. [31:01] >> I had somebody be here to speak, Mister Swindle, can we call him Mr, and vote. is. [31:03] That's signed up. >> No, but I believe they have the right to ask them to [31:07] speak. Any commissioner. Obviously, you could ask anyone to speak, but mayor, [31:13] you control the timing. I don't know. I like box. I like pots. When do I just don't [31:20] like what he's going to be coming here to talk about? don't mean the timing as to [31:24] how long would that recognize? Okay. But I'll talk to you afterwards to get out of come [31:32] I think it's very right. Mister Mayor. So I have a question for Mister chair, [31:34] which why come to be sure Mr. Swinney bell at the last meeting. I raise concern based [31:41] upon prior conversation that you and I had that. >> The [31:50] >> I believe that there were you would indicate there were other. People that we're [31:56] looking at this building because I'd said then. I think you said this many times. My [32:02] top priorities bring high paid jobs to Broward. And if we could make this a corporate [32:09] headquarters, either National International regional for a major company that would bring [32:13] lots of high-paid jobs here. That was something that would be a factor. Maybe not the [32:18] only factor, but certainly a factor in my consideration. It is my understanding that you [32:26] now have an opinion on that. Is that correct? And if so, what is that opinion? Yes, [32:31] senator, thank you. >> The mayor, you approach is like a CEO of a corporation is [32:37] considering relocation, right? You look at the space. But your drivers are exactly what [32:41] makes appealing to business as well to have 180,000 square foot, 10 trip to Turkey [32:48] facility. We don't have that inventory available anywhere in Broward County right now. [32:51] And that's what's made it so attractive. We've got to. Really strong candidates that [32:58] we work for the past. They're actually they're competing with the with the bankruptcy [33:01] court. There are already engaged with the bankruptcy court for this building. I've [33:03] got a 3rd that's also pursuing it. don't know the company as well. We've got 6 share this [33:10] with the county administrator, 6 other companies. We have a tech company that wants to put [33:13] their headquarters there. Why write? Because, you know, this was really design is an [33:19] aviation facility like we want to be embedded in a mixed use of like new point. Weve got [33:26] retail. There's housing. There's there's hotel space. There's temporary housing, all [33:30] those things that make it attractive. You guys you're competing with business [33:33] because it's such an attractive location. we are team could probably measure [33:39] this. But I think I mentioned is the county administrator. If you think about new [33:42] employees coming to Broward and then payroll being spent and Broward counties, [33:47] additional taxes generated by that. You know, customers of the stores, the restaurants, [33:52] the retail. That's that point. And if they're bringing travelers in, we have I told [33:59] you the name of the company and Mary, you, have you have a strong suspicion, probably [34:02] it's a global brand. You recognize them immediately. So if if they're going to feel [34:07] that building with employees that are new to that part of Broward County, I'm not sure [34:10] there's some dark, any residents that they work for this company already. But you [34:15] get you're looking at the turn of with their spending in payroll was being spent. That [34:18] impacts our GDP as a county. It's a very attractive building. But the answer [34:23] yours, your question, senator, and we talked about this the other day to these projects. [34:27] We have worked previously and did not have an appropriate facility for one is aviation [34:33] related. We came really close. But to be honest with you, the finances and what you're [34:37] looking at, a new way to go to build a new governmental center. You guys can the best [34:41] rates possible Triple-A been rated county. But, you know, other companies don't have [34:46] that benefit. And when you look at cost of building the financing, it's it's it's [34:51] topical police projects their tracks because they want to corporate housing that one of [34:54] the things that you've got that this facility. >> when do based on everything [35:00] you said you have a recommendation for us. >> My recommendation would be [35:05] and it essentially had public relations firm reached out to me the tax man and how they [35:08] got my number. But they were talking about. The image of the county competing with [35:15] business for a facility like this. And they recommended to me that they could fix that [35:17] for me. And like. We have a I know this county commission, they're going to evaluate all [35:23] the factors and they're going to make the best decision but only for our county. But from [35:25] pennies in the area. My recommendation is I don't think it's a good look for us [35:29] to compete with businesses are going after the same building. I don't know that we could win [35:33] as a county they can be a little more nimble, maybe with a bankruptcy court. But this [35:39] is the most valuable asset that spearheads. And so it's going to be highly sought [35:44] after and they will get the highest dollar they can get for this building and they [35:47] hope And do you recommend I believe that in conversations, County administrator that you [35:52] had. >> Said something like that, you would recommend that we [35:57] not pursue this because you believe that. There will be a private, large private [36:05] companies. Maybe you don't know which one that would come in and benefit the Brevard [36:12] County Economy. Yeah, I know there's 3 there will be directly competing with you [36:14] for the space. but again, I go back to >> the additional economic [36:19] impact of those new employees spending money in Dania Pointe supporting those retailers and [36:23] restaurants. And I know that the county employees would do the same, but we've already [36:27] got those folks spending money in our county. We're looking to bring additional people in [36:29] and that's why I think it would be. It would be a bad decision to to take this off [36:38] of the inventory for commercial I trust me. I get that. There's no inventory out [36:41] there. I understand the frustration with that. I deal with it on a regular basis. [36:47] >> Any other things, Mister Mayor and I'm I have 2 questions for you, sir. As you [36:52] can in changed since the first time spoke to Senator Gathers cent. On this. Senator Geller [36:58] said this at our last meeting. So I'm wondering why you brought them up to say the [37:01] same thing live in. And they're usually because instead of my saying what he [37:07] said, I wanted him to say what he said. Okay. it's just an opinion like So let me ask you [37:13] question. And this is you're making a recommendation to us as elected officials as [37:16] economic development organization, right? Do you think which weighs more saving [37:20] the public? 350 million dollars or getting high paying jobs in that building? We [37:26] would cause you're talking a tax base attribute excuse me. You brought up tax base. So [37:31] tell me based on your recommendation, what kind of tax revenue would we get from [37:38] that versus the savings of 350 million dollars because I assume you're saying that will [37:44] benefit more over through more than 350 Million. Because you done that analysis. [37:51] >> I've not done that analysis. That's one of the things I mentioned that we [37:53] could do the analysis on what would be the impact of new to Broward employee? You I'm just [37:58] a guy that you made. You made a recommendation based on you talked about tax. [38:04] >> But tax. And so you're getting in front of us. Make your recommendation without [38:06] doing any analysis and how much tax revenue we would generate from putting a [38:12] corporate entity in their first is saving the public. 350 Million. Is that correct? [38:15] That's correct. Okay. Thank you. Where conductor? Will both serve him on this way. [38:23] Okay. So just a couple things. And I've spoken to some of the companies to that are that are [38:31] talking and that want to look at this building. And assuming that there would be some [38:35] interest in this building. And I. >> If we're interested in it, [38:39] other people are interested and it's a valuable piece of property and that's why people [38:41] are looking at it. I'm not as sure as the length and depth of the corporal reloads that [38:50] will go there. But that's wonderful thing about this process is that if you become [38:55] a better on this I'm not saying you definitely get it. But you're in the game to do [38:58] it. And if we we helped Dania, if we if we raise the value of this piece of property, that's [39:04] a OK, I'm not here to give corporate welfare to a corporation that wants to come [39:12] by this property by saying we're not here. Trust me. And I've heard from this day as [39:15] before that, we're not gonna get it. We're not going to enough. We're not going to be [39:19] there. Our number should be out there to be a number that we feel comfortable with [39:24] before before you came today. And I appreciate everything you did. I'm glad you were [39:26] there. We were still a 200 million dollars savings. With this coverage is original [39:31] numbers, which when they were tasked by staff, they said put that building in the Dania [39:38] Pointe building and give us the same exact thing. And it was still a 200 million [39:42] dollars savings. I know it can be much more, you know, could be much more. But even [39:45] 200 million dollars, a lot of money to save. >> Dania Pointe makes a very [39:52] in my opinion, impressive argument. I agree with their argument. But when you save, [39:56] if you can save taxpayers 250 million on one side. There's a way that we can make [40:02] Dania Pointe Hall, you know, with any kind of tax revenue that they're looking at. Plus, [40:08] I don't think there's been a study on how valuable that land becomes. If there's now X [40:13] and another 1000 employees that are there full time. I think that we should stay in [40:17] the game here. I think if there's corporations that want to bid for this property, they [40:22] should bid for this property. They may be to us in which case we take our ball and we [40:27] go home. We may not be the stalking horse on this, but I'll say again, do not think [40:35] there's going to be 5 votes for 3 quarters of a billion dollars that the Gore private [40:38] property. I've said that before. And the other thing I would say it's a lot of people [40:43] think this is very fast. This is something that's happening fast. Well, that's because 2 [40:46] months ago, the issue didn't didn't. You know, we've we've dealt with this core property [40:52] for what, 10 years dealing with joint government meetings. It was going to be a [40:59] joint center. It was going not be a joint government center. You are going to go here. We [41:01] were going to look there. It's been a multi-year, you know, 5, 6, 7, 10 year process. This [41:07] is something that just came up. I think by anybody's imagination by anybody's [41:13] facts, we save 200 million dollars right off the back. I think it's going to be much, [41:18] much more than that. And this is in a rehab of a building. This this half of this [41:23] building is really have most of the space is ready to go. We have a risk management [41:26] department. They had a risk management department. It's basically the same thing. We [41:33] have a human relations. They had human relations department and I know people say, well, [41:39] there's HIPPA things. There's this that the other thing when you tour the spirit building [41:42] on the first floor where they have their HR in the back, they had to hit the area, too, [41:46] because they have the same thing that we have. It's all very much the same. I think we [41:51] should push us forward if it takes another week to do it, we should be able to do it. [41:56] And if somebody out bids us, we should shake their hand. And if we are the stalking [42:03] horse bidder and somebody comes to us and says I'm a new airline. I want to set up shop [42:06] here. We could say have at it. You with this is mean, we definitely have to buy it by [42:13] becoming and the game here. And I think that there's a lot that can happen if the [42:17] alliance has a company, that's a great company for Dania Beach and it works for the [42:21] county. We talk about. That. We're going. I too. First of all, I just want to mention, I [42:35] totally agree with the mayor from. >> Dania Beach and I wanted to [42:40] just mention the the taxes that are paid by spirit right now. This is this year's [42:45] proposed tax taxes, 700 and 50. Yes, 715 million, 688. And then the total ad valorem [42:58] taxes and so forth that they pay or 2.8 million dollars. So we just so we know what. But [43:06] the last possibly could be for Virginia Beach. I I said this at at the meeting and I'm just [43:14] going to repeat it. I think we need to put the brakes like the idea that we're sitting [43:20] here. Some people are sitting here and saying it's well, now we're not going to spend [43:24] 600 Million. We're going to spend 300 million or 259. We should be putting the brakes [43:28] on everything right now. We are looking at a dangerous Advil tax issue on the agenda [43:35] that could kill this county. And you talk about affordable housing. This has nothing to [43:42] do with affordable housing are hold everything we would be doing would be cut all across [43:45] the board. I feel at this point that this is this is a horrible message to send to [43:53] people. To go out there and do this. When we own a piece of property already at 65 million [44:01] dollars, the Gore billion building. I mean, how much do we want to have here? And [44:06] something would have to be go if we got it. And this this piece of paper, I'm sorry, [44:13] having in the building, a carpeted drive, kinds of construction business. family. [44:21] I have this is estimated cost. Nobody knows. Nobody knows what the cost would be to [44:25] renovate this building. Absolutely not. So I just feel like we're looking at [44:30] something that's so. Going to be so difficult for so many people in this county. [44:36] Everything we care about in services. Can be can be done. Reduced dramatically. So for [44:44] me, I am not going to support doing this. And even if we're saving, we're not saving. [44:50] We're not saving 250 million dollars. We're spending 250 million dollars and I'm [44:55] not willing to do that. And by the way, we compare down the Gore building plans to we can [45:05] plant, we can we can make the same kind of facility that we're talking about here. We [45:09] don't have to have the big offices. We don't have to have a lot of the things that are [45:13] in that building. We do need is a childcare center in that building. But we don't need of [45:18] this other stuff that we have there. And we could. We could we could save several [45:21] 100 million dollars in that building. Well said the since the I agree with you. I agree [45:29] with the mayor. Also, thank you. Do not want to. We rushed into a decision. I think we've [45:40] been planning. >> A lot on where we want to go and how how we wanted to [45:42] look. And some point, if you to, if you have to pump the brakes are pumped the brakes. [45:47] But we have enough information. To do that today. I think it's just a knee-jerk [45:51] reaction of like to see us move forward. Take the bull today. I want to kick the can [45:55] of the week, but I want to speak to this property. want to raise here. I've seen 5 [46:02] renditions on that property. Investment. Downturn. Torn down. Build something else. [46:13] Investment. One Dow bill, something else investment on down to build something else [46:21] when they would want that. 95, the Grand Prix was relocated. There before the Grand Prix. [46:26] Those addition of what they thought would work at that property. And before that [46:32] powers will was there when I was kid. So it was a small. Temple of Disney World. role? [46:39] But that was part of So wouldn't go to calls that he built. So, Dana, his struggle. [46:50] development based my of debt. So we look at this. 100 million dollar investment. [46:57] And I read this and going to bring in. The 800 million dollar. Thank you. Point [47:03] development has transformed. Thank you. Beach into a regional Travon, massive tax [47:09] revenues, job growth, corporate investment. Why didn't who? Could mix Mixed [47:18] use project has fundamentally reshape the local economy. Through 4 main pillars. The [47:25] revenue generation. The job creation, the corporate location. The mixed use [47:31] expansion. And if we take that opportunity way, we always. We always turn to window. We're [47:43] trying to validate company coming here, Maria, they wait the pants, a situation of who [47:50] they bring the town to entertain. We go to Bob Sunday. But today. We [47:56] dismissed in effect. And I've had numerous conversations Bill because I want to know if [47:59] there was any other interest in this property and there's nothing else. The developments [48:08] downtown today. I was very much a part of it. We are running out of space. There [48:13] are no opportunities for big companies to come here because you don't have a mask. The [48:16] Lamb Mayor Mike does well and industrial peace because they have all that land at [48:25] company's at the Cubs. Se. All of the tract. Is craze going out there, bringing companies [48:30] to town? We don't have that here. We have an opportunity with the of investment may [48:35] have a 65 billion dollars across the street. I want keep going in that direction. But I [48:42] want to pump the brakes. I want to take the vote up or down. What we do because we [48:50] can keep keep changing scenarios. Day day out. I don't do. Overnight projects [48:58] is I work in industry and I do a lot of time before I go out and say I can build something [49:05] 4 x amount of dollars because typically what happens in in the real world. I got eat that [49:11] cost. But what as a government agency? The 450 the 200 meter 300 not turn into twice the [49:21] amount of money. Once we get any real last. It is not the space that we can utilize day [49:26] one like has been said So I'd like to see is pump the brakes. I think this is a [49:33] great opportunity for our economy to keep growing in Dania. Dania has done well. [49:38] And that was I think it's gonna one of the first projects that may. Less. For [49:42] in perpetuity. Because of what they put there. What they put their to sustain that space. [49:50] If you go step further. We can't do that. This footprint, we can decide we're going to [49:57] stop. And then it could bring major corporation. had a brow bullet and that footprint that [50:01] footprint works for We purchased the property with intent to do that. Dania Beach [50:04] point. Should be exactly what it was built to be when it opened 2 years ago. It's a [50:11] great building. It has a space we're only talking about you last half of the space of [50:16] these of this parcel and we'll talk a piece in between that we could have a future of [50:24] future building. Our future building is where we've already invested our time and [50:28] talents. And we can put brakes on all of these projects if need be. But Daniel Point, my [50:33] commissioners today, his vote this up or down. The only thing I think that will be [50:38] question of the city attorney the county attorney There are 2 members missing here today. [50:48] How does that play out with a vote today? And I'm not trying to kill. We do want to make [50:52] sure that what we're doing can be justified. The votes. Yeah, it's these or [51:00] >> extraordinary circumstances. The spirit, issue came up on very short [51:05] notice. We're dealing with bankruptcy court deadlines were also technically we have [51:10] workshop today. But because we're we thought we were researching for meetings. We [51:14] have 2 commissioners who are out of the country. You know, this board knows I've been [51:19] around for a while. I'm always very conservative in terms of whether remote should count, [51:24] it would be my strong preference not to do vote. I'm risk-averse. I was like that [51:29] better. So it's better to do it. It in person. But if we had 5 affirmative votes, [51:38] including remote boats. I I think God, if the thought that they were in order for these [51:44] extraordinary circumstances, I think we'd be able to sustain it. That would be valid and [51:49] that if there were problem with it, that we there would be some flexibility, 2 things [51:57] that I wouldn't say that. But for the circuit, I don't want to come one of us. I want. [52:04] >> Yeah, we interview that we can do this with the makeup that we have today with 2 out [52:07] of town not being present to move this forward so that we can put this to bed or I'm not [52:12] moving it forward, might recognize. So I want the legal opinion so that seems like [52:20] when we started this and the presentation of them, it was because of the absences. We [52:25] couldn't do it but we can't do it. Yeah. The mayor knows every member of this board [52:31] knows that I'm extremely reluctant to do so. But these are unique circumstances. [52:34] They're extraordinary certain we can do. And I believe that we would prevail. [52:40] >> In court if it came down to it. So the answer would be yes, but I also want you to [52:42] know that the law is a little murky on this. Their old opinions. They don't really [52:47] cover Statute doesn't cover it. So my my statement to my legal opinion and so [52:54] reinforced by my team because we fought internally is yes, we could do it and our bill [52:58] would be sustained in court if came down to it. Yes. Thank you for that. With are just [53:04] too this up and down. >> Obviously >> this it's enticing to see [53:15] this. And it's, you know, this. You see a property like that. And and I can understand [53:20] why it's, you know, attractive to those the support. It. But I do have a problem of the [53:26] optics at this time, particularly with the property tax looming. I mean, we may [53:32] have stands, For a while. That's that's just the reality of it because we don't know [53:37] what kind of money we're going to be having coming in on tax revenues. It may be we may not [53:42] have a choice. And I don't want us to get so far out ahead that we can be coming [53:47] back. If we may have seen here for years and that, okay, the last thing we you want to do [53:53] is I think showing the public that we're about spent a whole lot of money when, you know, [53:59] that just gives them reason to vote against. thing is and I've said this numerous times. [54:09] The you know, when I think of county building, I have my own. You know, I think of he [54:13] would like him, you know, children. You have the main building in the square or [54:16] borders towns. I've lived in where it's the people's building. And if feels like [54:21] and looks like that's I still would rather see that the fact that we're we're about to [54:29] build where we're going is a cartographic center of the county seat corner and used [54:35] great. That's the view know north South East West. the corner. Easy access. And I [54:41] think access is a very important thing here. You know, people have to be able [54:46] sometimes they have to come here and you've got to make it. So it's easy for the other [54:53] part in to Bob. I think I would like if there's a chance of doing the analysis of [54:59] showing the multiplier effect, what happens when you have 1000 people spending money [55:04] into place? What does that turn into the because the tax revenues, one part of it. The [55:09] multiplier effect is by far. The bigger. As a as Mike and in Kentucky. You know. Danny [55:17] Point is it's doing well, but it's not. It's still, you know, you don't want to take [55:24] out from under You know what support help supporting it right across the street in the [55:31] coming year as you're about to have a lot of development as well. So you're going to you [55:36] know, you're having couple areas are very dependent on that kind of multiplier effect [55:41] to keep it going. So we know for those kind of things on not inclined to be supporting [55:48] this right now. I do. I don't think it makes and I don't think the timing is right. And [55:54] I think for a city like Dania and Hollywood, both the right on the line right there. This, [56:04] you know, begins to write their it makes a difference. It helps support it. Those [56:07] kind of jobs are in the fact that we might have another very big industry come in. You [56:13] know, we're bored or or or business I think don't you want take that away? I think [56:19] we're on the right track where we're going. I think it was the right place. I It gives us [56:27] the opportunity to build the way we what we can scale it down. We can do whatever we [56:30] have to do and we don't have to build it tomorrow. We have our choice. We can. We can. We [56:36] can do what we do when it when we when it makes sense. But we need to send a message to the [56:43] people in this county that we're not going to be that we're not spending w**** [56:47] nilly. And then we understand what's in front of them. And we're going we're going to do [56:52] the right thing. So that's the and that's one thing. I think you do want to everyone for [56:58] put it doing all. This is a lot of work. Thanks for letting us see it. I like what [57:02] I saw in terms that I didn't think was a government building. But I was glad to be [57:06] able to see it. So thank you for that. That's that's my thoughts right now. [57:10] Commissioner, thank you, Mayor >> Mr. Swinney Bell and to Commissioner Dean. Would you [57:19] please share those companies that you've been dealing with and talking to? Because I [57:22] issue city spoke to a couple of them. I just want to see the magnitude of the companies [57:28] that that's what can ask in public. And so you when you can, and for someone not just [57:35] luxury months with these companies, they can talk one on one. [57:38] >> Excuse me, one on one with commissioners. If they choose to. Like I said, you know, [57:44] hopefully. That I've been doing this. You've got some trust in me. I wouldn't tell [57:49] you that they work. Well known. Remarkable companies that are looking at this. I [57:57] want to see cup. A competition. this pains me because to lie commissioners [58:00] that have been great business advocates and you're approaching this like a [58:03] business with and that's what we're competing with business. This is a unique site Broward [58:06] County. I can't disclose the company's name specifically, but I can tell you that they [58:12] would be substantial and trust me. We have worked with them trying to save them in Broward [58:16] County previously commissioner >> I have been called by multiple companies and [58:24] multiple different hedge funds. I don't think they were official like with this is we [58:27] want to do this and we might do this. But I think it's you might want I haven't had as [58:33] much experience as Drew has had with bankruptcy. I mean, maybe they don't want Broward [58:39] County to be in this bankruptcy game. But I have a feeling that it's, you know, [58:41] for what everyone is saying. They want Broward County to be there for a lot of different [58:46] reasons. In this bankruptcy court. But like I said, it's it's a free market. And if [58:52] somebody out bids us, they out that President. >> I just want I get to the [58:56] company's. I want to see what the competition was. And I don't want to get into [59:00] bankruptcy world. explain that several times to the to the commission, but time [59:07] definitely and 40 is not on our side. So we do need to make a decision very quickly. [59:11] We're 8 days away from find the bankruptcy court that we are in tension to be a better. [59:17] Or that we submit our stalking horse offer. So time is again, not our size. It is becoming [59:23] time is of the essence for that? I said publicly that I'm bullish on this. I I have been [59:34] from the beginning, especially when I visit it. But now I have grave concerns basically [59:42] from the memorandum that we received last evening from the attorney's office. That [59:47] concerns me puts the county position that I don't know that we want to be. And I just [59:53] want to bring that to light. Yes, you could. You come forward because I know that [59:59] you are been dealing with like talk to because council day for yesterday outside counsel [1:00:04] got their feelings on a couple of things. But what concerns me of this June 15th memo are [1:00:09] several things and what the public understand that. Kim Co national international firm [1:00:18] that owns and operates shopping centers, malls. Developments such as the new [1:00:26] point there, the developer, the master developers of that. And when you do a master [1:00:28] development plan, mixed use. You. Create a document, you create rules, regulations, you [1:00:34] create. Development agreement you to do to create all these rules and so forth and gives [1:00:44] them much more power and rightly so. Because what they want to do is they want to [1:00:49] kind of control what's in that and their development, their spending, billions of dollars. [1:00:54] Developing this site. They want to make sure they protect their tickets that have been [1:00:57] there today. The ownerships that are in there today. So I get that. But to the extent [1:01:04] that >> providing. Rights to them kind of over even. [1:01:14] >> A city like new beach. And I say that because if you look in the restrictions, you look [1:01:16] in the guidelines. In order to even get a variance on something you might want to do [1:01:22] with the site. You have to go through them before you say the city davies's. Yeah. We'll [1:01:28] give you that variants. Kym Koch and say my sorry, you're not gonna get that variance [1:01:34] because you're not going to be able to do that because of our development rights in orders. [1:01:40] Which concerns me. And so I was talking to the and you look in the memo, you talk [1:01:47] about, I just read it here provides the campus honor, which would be Cannot seek a [1:01:54] variance amendment or modification to the plan. The PD the mixed use development. [1:01:58] Without the prior written consent, which means tempo. Any second the first point was [1:02:05] actually to that. There's a camp here which means common area maintenance fees, right? [1:02:11] So when you're in a masterful a plan, you have like the kind H.O.A. per se, but you have to [1:02:16] pay your portion of the grass getting caught in and maintenance of the facilities, [1:02:21] the roads because he's a private roads in here. So you have all these things that you [1:02:23] have to do. And that's a cost to that. And I understand yes to that. We have not even been [1:02:32] provider, cannot get from Cam Co what the camp costs are. >> So we haven't been able to [1:02:39] get the actual cost. current cost paid by spirit for their allocation. We've been trying [1:02:43] to work with those spirits Council and the Kim code to get that information. But we [1:02:49] did. We have not been able to get >> And I understand that. But [1:02:55] we talked about today that the communication with Kim Cohen, he's against, can't go by [1:02:57] communication a camp go. Is that? They only put. answers and that the only responded [1:03:04] was via e-mails. Correct? We can't have that. We have a to have a Kirk conversation with [1:03:10] them because here here getting that is. Is that the current use of the facility, the [1:03:16] property today, his office and correct if I'm wrong is asked. And so we want to change the [1:03:21] used to a government use. It's a permitted use. In the city of Dania Beach allows it. They [1:03:30] say yes, you could permitted use for area. This particular property you can use [1:03:32] government. However. However. Kim Kohat my understanding has the right. To dictate the use. [1:03:44] That's it's not what exists today. So here's the problem there. And here's the problem [1:03:49] Commission is that? >> They will not give us a preapproval written letter. [1:04:00] >> Stating that we can use this property for what we want to use. Is that correct? [1:04:06] >> They haven't stated that. So there, you know, they've stated that they're trying to [1:04:08] treat us at what's to create arm's length with respect to all the interested parties in [1:04:13] the transaction. And so they'll provide information to us but are not necessarily [1:04:19] negotiating with or at least what they've told us any of the bidders as to our specific [1:04:25] uses. They're just telling us you know, answers factual question. [1:04:32] >> So have you asked them for a preapproval? Letter from them that they will pre [1:04:39] approve us as a use of the facility. We have not specifically ask for proof. So [1:04:43] I think that's very important because if we do not have in writing. From Kim Co that we [1:04:52] can use this facility for what we want to use. We want to have commission chambers, we [1:04:58] whatever those that laundry list issues that we need to use this property for. If we [1:05:02] don't receive written approval from them. Then this you because we can't buy a [1:05:06] property. A bit on the property, much less buy a property. And all of a sudden [1:05:12] we're told we can use it for what our use. So again, get in the bankruptcy arena. We are [1:05:18] today as is where is no continue. See, says we can't say our purchases. Ciliving is [1:05:24] subject to getting approvals of these uses. So it's very important to me. I can't vote [1:05:31] on something that I can say to the public. Yeah, we can buy so we can use what we want to [1:05:34] use it for. >> And I'm understanding that thing they even that to us [1:05:40] without asking us what we have an asset. But I'm asking mayor, we've got to find that [1:05:43] out. First before we can even move forward because without that. The title, when will see [1:05:54] transaction as commissioner UT nose and real estate transactions, you have a title [1:05:57] commitment to title policy. Right? And in the due diligence, period, they [1:06:02] provided a title commitment and they have schedule bees, which is basically a list of [1:06:09] restrictions or things that have to be satisfied prior to closing that transaction order [1:06:14] for you to pass free clear title right? always and conferences. Isn't. Is it [1:06:19] something here? Yes, sir. She should me some meat. My understanding it had looked at [1:06:25] the title yet on title. say all agree on. Policy you know, first, American or felt like [1:06:33] that. But my understand is how many schedule bees were 70. >> There were good after good [1:06:42] morning. There were 7, 0, so many exceptions that I the office the county attorney [1:06:46] along with County staff is review. >> And then you have the [1:06:52] Declaration of Covenants, correct? That is correct. And how large is that document? [1:06:54] Has close to 100 pages. One of plus amendments. So that's another mayor and [1:07:03] commissioners with what we have to make sure is that the title itself that we can even [1:07:06] adhere to those exceptions in the title. >> It also also the decoration [1:07:11] of confidence that we can even adhere to as well. So again, Dylan, the bankruptcy court, [1:07:16] we've got 8 days away from our attention to be a better or to submit a stalking horse offer. [1:07:24] Without this extensive due diligence. This still needs to be done. But more importantly. [1:07:27] Get it in writing from Pimco was controlling this whole deal. understand they might [1:07:32] even want to be a better. So you're competing with again. The original developer [1:07:37] competing with the market, the private sector and now a loss. We're pretty much are. We [1:07:41] really are. And I again, I've been bullish on this the whole time when Commissioner Union [1:07:46] border forward, I said no way when saw the facility saw the opportunities that we could be [1:07:52] there. I thought it would really work for us to save the hundreds of millions of [1:07:54] dollars that I'm hearing. But the day, we don't have it in writing, but we can exactly do [1:07:59] it. I mean, exactly. We can put commission chambers and there we can park them there. [1:08:03] We can use your roads there. We can use X x* if we don't have that in writing. This is [1:08:09] null and void as far as I'm concerned and then deal with the title issue separately. So [1:08:15] that's what really, really concerns me at this tea at this late hour. Unfortunately, [1:08:20] see this, I think at 8 o'clock last night. And again, I commend you for due diligence [1:08:25] and it needs to continue because the obviously is very extensive. I haven't been in [1:08:28] the data room, but I leave that to the experts when it comes to that. But so that's [1:08:32] my feeling. Is point? just commissioner decided on that, right? So we are continuing to [1:08:39] do diligence. We've, you know, as you state, we may not >> be in a position to be the [1:08:43] stalking horse to next week. But if you know, the board wanted to to be something on, [1:08:48] the extended >> But by nursing talking to legal counsel, council, you [1:08:53] have. Preferential treatment, but you have the better in sight. If you become stalking [1:09:02] horse or least play the game as a stalking horse, you have the ability to gain more [1:09:07] information, more opportunities, then you would just coming in as outside [1:09:11] bitter to the day for the July 23rd options going to take place, correct? [1:09:16] >> That's correct. But just based on the information that year, you know that you just [1:09:21] raised the facts that you just raise, which is that by next week, we probably do not have [1:09:25] the information 2 because stalking horse means that on the 24th we have assigned per [1:09:29] purchase agreement. Right? So we are committed to purchasing the asset at that point. [1:09:34] >> there's a draw, no continue sees Koukash as is where is and so. Probably will not have [1:09:40] the information. We noticed that the use of the property by Good. Thank you. [1:09:46] >> Mr. Met one second. I want them to go on numbers you over done. thank you. Mr. Mayor the [1:09:56] first like to begin by thanking both you Commissioner Udin for bringing this matter [1:09:59] up and pushing this. I think that efforts to save hundreds of millions of dollars are [1:10:07] always fruitful. I think it shows the public. That we're really are trying to be as as [1:10:16] frugal as we can. And I sincerely mean it when I say that. I appreciate both you [1:10:23] and commissioner unity in for leading efforts to try and save us. Hundreds of millions [1:10:28] of dollars. And I will say that as of yesterday, I was still undecided as to where I [1:10:35] was as of today. I am not because 3 issues have come up that have decided in [1:10:42] opposition to this. The first one is. At the last meeting I raised questions about where [1:10:52] the alliance was based on a prior conversation. But at the time, I did not know exactly [1:10:59] what that position of Mister Swindle was. Just a great questions this morning. I find [1:11:06] found out what Mister Swindle its position is and how serious these discussions had [1:11:11] And that is one of the 3 factors with which led me to the second one is I drove it [1:11:19] today this morning. I just want to read the directions to directions to get to this [1:11:27] building are go to Broward Boulevard. Take a right on what's The I was coming due [1:11:36] West, a wave on offer of Stirling Road. So I just came east from West. Stirling Road [1:11:43] to 18th Avenue to Point Boulevard to North campus, way to Rady and Drive. And by the [1:11:49] way, I lost a GPS but cause North campus way doesn't have a street sign on. So it had to [1:11:59] go around that. I don't think is the appropriate location for for a government center to [1:12:07] have it in the middle of a master development where candidly, as I said a GPS, I [1:12:13] got lost. But the major factor, the when I read it and said no. It's the [1:12:22] same issue. That my colleague Commissioner Fisher just brought up. I think all of, [1:12:32] you land use attorney. When I read the memo from Anika this morning. I looked at that and [1:12:40] said it is impossible for us to close on this property with all of these Kathy Ot's it [1:12:49] could get it for. 300 million dollars or 400 million dollars last. If we can't use the [1:12:57] building the way we want to use it, it's a white elephant. And having read the memo as an [1:13:05] attorney has a zoning and land use attorney, I looked at that and said you can close on [1:13:09] this. You know, we just we can't we don't know if we'll be able to use the building [1:13:16] the way we need to use the building. So I honestly yesterday with still [1:13:23] undecided, I told you at the last meeting I thought they were merits on both sides. And [1:13:29] but today based on that those 3 issues, I did reach my decision and it's I I would [1:13:34] not be able to support it. Having said that, I want to close by just again, thanking [1:13:41] Commissioner you Dean, a new Mr mayor for doing this. If you want talk to you, you're [1:13:45] mayor, you want to put it do whatever you want. Bot whenever we do vote on this, [1:13:51] I'm going to be opposed to this. Also aided represent all of Dania Beach. And I was in [1:13:56] the Senate and I still always have warm and the city of represented. And I'm trying to [1:14:01] be nice to Dania Beach because I used to represent that. So whatever you want to do, Mr. [1:14:07] Mayor, terms of when we vote, but I will be voting no. >> And take 60 seconds and [1:14:14] handed back to Commissioner Eugene because it's his item by 60 seconds are basically [1:14:18] this. This item is dead in the water. If we don't get as commissioner Fisher said, if [1:14:25] we don't get that assurance is that we can use the building and property as we would want [1:14:29] use it. And that's one of the reasons why I was going to ask Commissioner you Dean 2 differ [1:14:32] this because it even if we set a meeting for next week, if we can't get it, there's not [1:14:38] going to be meeting because this thing is dead in the water. No matter what. You are [1:14:40] not going to bid on something that we can't use. But I'm gonna spend the next 30 [1:14:45] seconds I understand that. But there's but having said I understand that I just I can't [1:14:53] I just can let me just finish the 30 seconds. I just want to make sure it's clear with [1:15:00] Senator Reid said about buying the property per 65 Million. And she mentioned the number [1:15:06] 600 Million. The total amount of that building. we got from since COVID those numbers, [1:15:10] certainly they could be change is close to 3 quarters of a billion. And so I just want [1:15:14] make sure we are talking commissioner for just talked about the optics again. I [1:15:21] think the opposite it's a good point. But then the optics of our other alternative [1:15:25] spending, 3 quarters of a billion is horrible optics as well. Then you should agree [1:15:29] with that. If we're going to pump the brakes. Spice mayor said it is that we pump the [1:15:33] brakes on everything we should be pumping. The brakes and everything. Last time we had a [1:15:39] meeting, let's keep this going on across the street. If we're going to pump the brakes [1:15:43] because it's a potential financial disaster coming, we should be pumping the brakes [1:15:48] on everything I want to let you know, though, that I to make up these numbers since [1:15:53] COVID that provided the original numbers we met yesterday. Their but they're [1:15:58] like 2030%, based on what they have of. You know, they're testament 100% accurate. But I [1:16:06] didn't just make up these numbers. We spend an hour and have talking about where would [1:16:10] come in if we did certain things differently. So I just want to make sure, you know, [1:16:14] you know that. and even with the current situation, if if we were able to get what we [1:16:18] need, we'd still be saving 200 million with that said, I since I don't know if there's [1:16:24] a need to continue. Do continue because he what he wants to defer. He wants to [1:16:30] withdraw the item so I could recognize the people on the phone. you know, Commissioner [1:16:37] Davis and Commissioner Rogers, but I think the item, which is brought by commissioner you [1:16:40] Dean, he wants to pull it. you talk to OK committee, you know, Commissioner Rogers and [1:16:49] Commissioner knowing there and still want to speak on this. >> At it's not necessary. He's [1:16:54] going to try the item just so, you know, basic. I do have concerns as well. mean, [1:17:01] forward on that building. It also won't be available next week, either. [1:17:10] >> You won't be available for a phone or in person or both. >> In-person rba No OK, we [1:17:20] could have our meeting in Orlando even to the We'll have a meeting and is safe for you. [1:17:24] That's OK, no problem of the commission. work, not Commissioner [1:17:37] >> Just to clear up one or 2 things, I did speak to David Coddington. The dad brought [1:17:42] this up like a month ago and he said, you know, there would be companies that are going to [1:17:44] look at this. And I think David would tell you my exact answer to him. Most keep going [1:17:49] on that route because if there's companies that are looking at it, there should be [1:17:52] you're not insulting me by saying there's companies that are going to look at this the [1:17:59] wonderful thing about the private sector's, they can be a little bit more nimble. [1:18:01] We're never going to get the answers to your questions by next week. Anyway. And I guess [1:18:07] all of this will be proved out by the marketplace in the next few weeks. I'm going withdraw [1:18:13] my motion. I'm not asking for that to be put up to vote next week August. When we come back [1:18:18] from vacation or when we come back from break, we can see what the situation is by then. [1:18:22] I'm sure we'll have a big company that's interested in. will have other companies that [1:18:27] will a bit on this. And I guess we're going to get to say how this plays out. But [1:18:32] we're not going to be able to get to a place no matter how long we stay here today or [1:18:35] even if we came next week. To where we need to be. So I withdraw the motion. [1:18:45] >> Are you saying you don't want us to set up another meeting? Is that your [1:18:50] position? >> I'm not. We can set up another meeting, but it [1:18:51] doesn't have to be a special meeting next week because we're going to be the same [1:18:53] place. They're not going to get these Anybody in that we're not at 5 in the other. [1:18:59] In the situation we do get insurance is doing its of the media. [1:19:04] >> Not before Brett. We're not. We don't do this week. I'll do it and will do it in [1:19:06] August. If somebody comes in out bids us. >> Then we shake their hand. [1:19:12] We bring there's no there's no bidding. We something about it. If somebody comes in and [1:19:16] takes a property, I'm hearing from everybody that there's so many different interested [1:19:19] bettors in this. I guess we're going to be proved out. >> During July about how [1:19:24] correct that is. I have a feeling that a lot of people were waiting to see what [1:19:28] Broward County was going to do because we are the best and natural user for that space. [1:19:33] The companies that are going to look at that >> are not going to have the [1:19:39] So just to let you know, I'm gonna talk to council. If there's a way we can get [1:19:41] assurances great if not dead. morning we have for a vote. It will be mayor. [1:19:48] >> I don't think I don't think it's dead. It could come back in August. You can like it. I [1:19:54] like it anybody else. Can bring it Just I'm not gonna make everybody come for a [1:19:56] special meeting next I know we're not gonna have the answers. If we have these [1:20:00] answers and you think that there's an ability to do that, somebody else can ask for [1:20:02] special that. Mr. if you do ask for special meeting as Commissioner Davis said, I'm [1:20:11] leaving Tuesday She's leaving. So could you do it on Tuesday? You do Monday, Monday or [1:20:16] Tuesday, just not after Tuesday. >> keep in mind, mayor, that [1:20:22] Wednesday is the deadline to provide the intention to bid and a stalking horse offer. So [1:20:25] we need to have time from legal to be Oprah for and provide a stalking So we're is [1:20:32] of the other on the legal side. We'll move forward. right. I unless we're going to [1:20:38] call them will get together. >> With administration, write with to me. We're going to [1:20:44] call them my I'm told we've asked things we've asked for certain information. We may [1:20:51] have not asked that the right way. We're going to ask for definitive information if we [1:20:56] have it, then we can. We will move forward with the due diligence will let the mayor [1:20:58] know we can call a special meeting if we're not going to get the assurances but say by [1:21:03] tomorrow or, you know, sufficient information then will advise the mayor of will [1:21:08] be no special meeting called in commissioner Eugene said. And as you're saying, [1:21:13] Commissioner Fisher will miss the opportunity through the bankruptcy court debate on [1:21:16] this. But we'll see what happens. And you never say never, you know afterwards. So [1:21:23] >> that's fine by Listen, I'm told Kim Cole has a prize on their hands. So they may not [1:21:28] want to deal with us. They may want to deal with because the values can be there. I would [1:21:34] rather senator of anybody can touch. Richard, you want us to I just want to make one. I [1:21:37] want to correct the record for debate and the debate for units. [1:21:42] >> Because I I was I was looking at this and I didn't speak accurately. So I was [1:21:45] reading from the proposed property taxes, 4 and for for a spirit for this year. And so [1:21:54] I just want to clarify the person, the portion that was the county Commission tax was [1:22:01] 755 1 million, 668,000 1000 yet sorry million. sorry. Excuse me. 765,668. The Dania [1:22:15] Beach portion was 799,000. That was the tax and the total tax of all valorem taxes in [1:22:23] the county that spirit paid was 2 million, $80800,000. So I just want it clear what the [1:22:31] tax base is and probably what any company that Mr window was talking about could be [1:22:37] providing the same tax base for the county. So that's that part. And the second part is I [1:22:41] just want to make it really clear. Have said over and over, I want to put the brakes [1:22:46] on everything there. Mayor, I'd like you to hear this, please. court. I I have said I [1:22:55] don't want to spend 7 per of But I'm talking to you, please. Okay. I I I don't want [1:23:01] to spend 700 million dollars 1000 million dollars on on the current land. Property that we [1:23:10] have with Gore. I don't want to go out right now and do anything. I've said it again [1:23:16] and again. So I just want to make it clear. I'm not voting ever to spend that kind of [1:23:22] money building either. But I'm not voting to spend I'm not going to spend anything while [1:23:27] we're dealing with the Evelyn tax issue. Okay. That's it. Okay. Great. [1:23:36] >> Commissioner Rogers, I just didn't hear from you. Did you want to add anything? [1:23:44] >> Commissioner the mayor? Yes. OK, I And the same position. The more I to this [1:23:55] debate and I see that on resident of the county. I am with Senator. And then [1:24:05] Relieving maybe we need it. The decision that impact budget without knowing really [1:24:15] what our coaches going So that where am right now? Am glad that we're going Later date, [1:24:25] based on what the attorneys David. Whether or not there's an opportunity for us, the [1:24:30] county to her. need As I stand right now, I am. Reporting what manager Ridge they did. I [1:24:42] don't believe we need to for the incumbent, you know, go out and commit for And fact, [1:24:51] the 100 until we know where revenue cent. But the voters in all colors. [1:24:58] >> Thank you. I believe the covers are meeting for this. So so so so mayor, it sounds [1:25:08] like and just to summarize, it sounds like we have at least 5 people who or at least alright [1:25:14] mate, but at least 5, you agree, Sevens at least other. That is that a book? You my my [1:25:18] point is just to should we not what we We both do. It only a vote not to do it. The we no [1:25:25] power means So we'll we'll ask him the question. I don't get the answer. We're not gonna [1:25:33] spend more money and do Yeah. It's that okay. Okay. Okay. I just wanted to make sure [1:25:37] because I >> Can you guys please use your microphones? I'm sorry. [1:25:45] >> I'm if it's withdrawn, I don't think there's anything withdrew it. There's nothing [1:25:47] to vote on. He would resign. Mayor, I was just saying if it were possible that are coming [1:25:53] back, we want to do the due diligence. But it sounds like that's not going to happen. So [1:25:56] stop religion says see if they'll be willing to give a letter. One question one want [1:26:00] know when you said seven-on-seven your thing, your own numbers. If we got [1:26:04] that churns, I think Commissioner Fisher said he would be bullish on correct I [1:26:09] can get if I want to get all the shirts exactly what we can do this property and I would [1:26:13] definitely look at it again for sure. And also make sure that the title issues are good [1:26:15] with the decoration of cupcakes. That too was an issue with the but those 2 [1:26:20] things. And then you like to make decision that if we give, you know, Senator Geller, new [1:26:24] GPS system, he might be able to get, you know, you might be able to find it and therefore [1:26:30] he might change his vote. Who to book? What are over we're done. There's a more to So we [1:26:37] don't I just want to clarify, though, I agree with what Commissioner Fisher said. It's [1:26:43] not just one letter we're talking about. It's just it's the whole panoply of there's [1:26:48] no point in moving forward. If you don't have a city, much talent, Broward counties not [1:26:52] going to be there to prop up their bid. Right now, we'll have another shot to get this. [1:26:55] >> It's fine. We'll have a You know, we will up watch. Let's see how the bankruptcy auction [1:27:01] goes. If we're not there. >> Okay. Any Joining the meeting doing I would. [1:27:12] >> journey to go to get a journey that morning go to for that we're doing anything out [1:27:18] of mine to go. Why do we need to go to 4.30? Why can't we just say here? Cause we have [1:27:22] it all set up there. And if we just want what set up there, all the everything's in the [1:27:27] room are were But to clarify, just drew, do you know what you guys are dying? You know, [1:27:32] so so right now. >> You don't have authority to submit a stalking horse bid to [1:27:37] submit a letter of interest or anything else starting change is we're going to make a [1:27:41] couple of calls. We'll let the mayor know. We'll take it from there. That's maybe they'll [1:27:46] call us.
