announcements and proclamations. Our

[1:48] Regular council meetings are scheduled
for Monday, August 3rd. That meeting is
[1:53] cancelled.
And then uh Tuesday, August 18th at 5:30
[1:59] p.m.
We have a work session
[2:02] uh for elections on Monday, August 10th
at 5:30 p.m.
[2:10] And then, we have a special work session
Tuesday, July 21st, today,
[2:16] uh at 6:00 p.m. And that will be held in
Dakota B.
[2:26] The next item on the agenda is citizens'
comments.
[2:29] This is an opportunity for anyone in the
audience to address the council on an
[2:34] item that is not on a printed agenda and
not an application form that will be

is um a resolution to accept donations

And we do this on a quarterly basis.

that I would like to pull and to just

information for
[4:36] our community.
And this is
[4:40] the item that has to do with
the FIFA 26 US Inc.
[4:46] soccer balls for our youth program.
Uh and
[4:51] I
am pulling it
[4:54] because I am grateful to share that Bre-
Burnsville is receiving 200 official
[5:01] World Cup soccer balls made possible
through the partnership between the US
[5:06] Conference of Mayors
and the professional athletic community.
[5:12] At our winter meeting in January, FIFA
President Gianni Infantino
[5:18] spoke about the power of sport to
strengthen communities. Following that
[5:24] conversation,
[5:29] FIFA committed to providing
every mayor with 200 soccer balls to
[5:35] bring home.
Those soccer balls
[5:41] arrived just today.
And uh here they are. So, I am really
[5:47] happy that we are doing that today. And
I want to express my deep appreciation
[5:54] to the US Conference of Mayors
and to FIFA for making this gift
[5:59] possible.
These soccer balls
[6:03] are more than equipment.
I believe they're an investment in joy,
[6:09] connection, and opportunity for our
youth our young people to feel supported
[6:14] and encouraged.
I can say that my affiliation with the
[6:19] US Conference of Mayors have benefited
Burnsville
[6:22] in many ways from grants
to free intern service made possible
[6:29] through the US Conference of Mayors
partnership with Harvard, where Harvard
[6:33] paid for the intern being here for a
whole summer
[6:37] and uh
doing work for us. And there was there's
[6:42] also a partnership with MLB, the Major
League Baseball Association, where we
[6:48] have participated in Play Ball programs
for about 10 years paid for by MLB, and
[6:54] there is so much more
that our city has benefited through our
[7:00] um involvement with the US Conference of
Mayors.
[7:04] And members of the council, with that, I
am moved to approve the resolution
[7:10] accepting the donations and grants to
the city for the second quarter of 2026.
