the governorships program

each hospital is in 2000 tests

true numbers are pretty high

friends all over

mandate

we talked

ninth day of school was the day
[26:42] obviously we started on the 20th
um the first full week of school was uh
[26:47] was very interesting
when i was the kind of episode of things
[26:52] in many ways the school is a reflection
of the community
[26:56] and we had we got an interesting week
last week and uh i appreciate it
[27:00] inviting you here if you just just
really don't see some some numbers of
[27:04] some things that uh being called this
last week because obviously we're
[27:08] uh when you talk about boots on the
ground and american being right in the
[27:11] middle of it
we're we're right in the middle of frank
[27:15] uh because obviously we've done a lot
uh kind of going in terms of trying to
[27:19] keep
2 500 students and staff members in the
[27:22] same environment pretty much every day
which is pretty challenging because it's
[27:26] coming to us
obviously with things that bring into
[27:30] our schools as opposed to getting
our schools memory out of the community
[27:33] um so
on monday which was the first obviously
[27:37] the first day the first
full week of school we had 12 call-ins
[27:42] of positive cases amongst our student
body
[27:45] by noon on monday we were very
new cases yes we had over 50 students in
[27:52] our district that were quarantined
prior to school even starting those were
[27:56] from exposures in the home
those positive tests those were from
[28:00] exposures in at family events or at work
those types of things so we started off
[28:05] with
uh students that were already able to
[28:08] start school with employees as well we
have
[28:10] now been 12 employees of around 14 due
to
[28:14] you know exposure which is defined as uh
60 or less for a period of 15 years of
[28:19] war
um that's obviously climbed by the
[28:21] health department and by the
by the cdc those are guidelines that
[28:25] were governed
under in terms of quarantines and
[28:29] mandates with that regard we do have a
math requirement for students 5012
[28:34] we have done a lot as far as ppe
examination and scheduling and busing
[28:38] and just spending weeks and weeks in
terms of planning for school this year
[28:44] but those two things in terms of what to
do as a positive test and what to do
[28:49] when there is an exposure and what
actually is considered an exposure
[28:53] those things are given to us by the cdc
through state
[29:00] we had 21 positive cases in our district
luckily i was 21 10 of those had
[29:07] either not attended school or had become
symptomatic in time frame in which
[29:12] we were not required to contact trace
those students
[29:15] in the classroom environment and we are
up to
[29:19] 26 positive cases now with employees and
students across the district
[29:24] we have um uh we've got three positives
amongst our staff
[29:29] um uh since the 20th which was also the
first day of school we've had
[29:34] 14 exposures amongst our school staff
which from each and every
[29:40] every school site an entire child
nutrition staff on one school site
[29:45] and those are just the employees since
the 20th
[29:48] we have had 280 students district-wide
in some form of 14 whether that was
[29:53] being exposed
outside of school in school at career
[29:57] tech
just obviously all the different places
[30:00] where our
where our students are we've had
[30:04] positives over the summer
in sports teams and different workouts
[30:09] with
quarantine student-athletes obviously we
[30:12] kind of want to be out on
a lot of things one of the things i was
[30:16] talking very wrong
about is i can say with confidence
[30:21] maybe not to start uh this week they're
moving forward
[30:24] especially in the first seven days of
school from the 20th odyssey public
[30:28] last friday um i could say we're growing
with confidence that none of those
[30:32] cases originated in our school those
came from
[30:36] the community into the school and once
we see
[30:39] that start happening which obviously
that is happening then it's going to
[30:43] start
multiplying because obviously you know
[30:46] we know what flu season doesn't stress
and stomach bugs and those types of
[30:49] things do in schools
and that's what we're seeing now we have
[30:53] had our first
few cases of students that were
[30:56] importing due to exposure
to those cases in school one of those
[31:00] cases out of school that went from
exposure
[31:03] to actually turning into a positive and
so now we're kind of starting to see
[31:06] that that next little wave
of things happen so um just from a
[31:11] number of sense
that's where we are right now we've got
[31:13] um positive tests at
every school site now we just did some
[31:17] quarantine at every single school site
and out of those 20 plus positives we've
[31:22] had almost our student body we heard a
lot about
[31:24] asymptomatic asymptomatic concept
genetics all those types of things
[31:27] out of those 21 we have only had two
students that were not actually
[31:30] sick um students are getting sick and
that's all the way down to
[31:34] uh pre-k as well all of our employees
that have guessed positive
[31:39] that they're physically sick and some of
them comes through some pretty rough
[31:43] patches as well
so we have had at least one positive
[31:48] within the school nine days uh we've got
at least one positive
[31:51] on six of those high school days uh
somewhere in addition whether it's
[31:55] through
[31:59] continue foreign see those things um as
long as
[32:03] again some of the information that dr
whitford shared as long as
[32:07] in our community as much as it is
we are seeing which is very interesting
[32:14] a lot of power a lot of our people
aren't going to get tested
[32:18] um in talking with other superintendents
and school leaders across the state
[32:22] that have not had as many cases as we
have had a lot of times it's all that
[32:26] conditioning in the community where
people are not going to be tested
[32:29] i will say that i encourage that fact
that we have a lot of people that are
[32:32] going to get tested
because that's the way that we have to
[32:35] stop that measure
in order to to make sure that people are
[32:40] getting tested whether
[32:45] but i have also heard in our community
of some people that
[32:49] um you know are fearful
for various reasons and that it is um
[32:55] probably as as you're probably made
a little bit worse than some portions of
[33:00] our injuries
[33:03] and so um that's what it looks like
from the school perspective obviously in
[33:09] many ways
the school district is a reflection of
[33:12] the community
in order to continue to be a reflection
[33:15] of the community so
are you seeing the biggest numbers high
[33:19] school fall over
so so it's fifth through twelve your
[33:22] biggest numbers are high school
your grade schools uh are those numbers
[33:28] staying low
and um
[34:05] of the things that we were saying was
not just being quarantined for exposure
[34:07] at school it was calling in and saying
hey i worked at
[34:10] you know touch and and i work my group
with this guy i suppose
[34:13] for you know i was like family meeting
on saturday next month
[34:17] and found out
[34:33] in terms of what you're suggesting
that's kind of coming
[34:36] from the community to the school instead
of passing right now
[34:40] but now it's going to start doubling
back on itself and i think the situation
[34:44] i mean i'm not there so i don't say
the situation will worsen but obviously
[34:50] whenever you get
you know a couple thousand people um in
[34:55] very close quarters on an everyday basis
[35:00] um
[35:13] are you planning

[35:25] but all those things are always a
conversation those things may change um
[35:29] based on especially the numbers that
we've seen
[35:33] in terms of the state department of
education where everyone has a health
[35:35] food map
system and all those things but the
[35:38] color coding system from the state
department
[35:41] we wanted to have a little from site to
site so we did not adopt their color
[35:46] coded
system um but we were we were quite
[35:49] literally one case away
from being in one second part considered
[35:53] orange two
uh once you hit orange two uh you shut
[35:57] down your entire school
um and so uh and you go virtual
[36:02] um and so just to put into perspective
from guidance
[36:05] um in terms of say health department and
state working together
[36:09] we were one reported case to the state
health department away
[36:13] from being in orange two county um and
uh
[36:17] i know the arapahoe you know chose to go
with the color coding system
[36:21] then we're one case away in our entire
county uh from having to shut down my
[36:25] school for appropriations
that i don't have your city knows the
[36:29] county account
yeah it's the county number i think the
[36:32] accounting threshold is 25
or 100 000 to be according to based on
[36:37] the state department education
they have differing guidelines for each
[36:41] one of those color codes and i believe
we're
[36:43] 22.36 or something like this
so let me parse that out for 1000.

of you know guidance

how the school system has organized
[37:26] themselves and it seems to be a model
for those who pay attention in terms of

working the whole time and and i ask him
[37:56] and it's hard for you to leave but he
said you know in about eight or nine
[38:00] minutes
get up and walk away

you know i mean the 15-minute rule is is
[38:24] just what we're getting nights
um under 60 or less for a period
[38:29] for a good 15 minutes or more um
so if you break it at 12 minutes and
[38:34] then you pretend to go back for another
10 minutes does it make that bigger
[38:36] difference
maybe not but whenever we turn over
[38:40] information in a positive test
or we're notified by the health
[38:44] department we turn over all of that
information to them
[38:47] and they start contact tracing and
sometimes that
[38:51] that includes contacting the individual
and saying
[38:54] who you're around approximate times you
know what you've exposed

[39:13] to have structured movement season
charts groupings cohorts
[39:17] pairs of students all those things we
have those things we have this is
[39:20] recorded
because whenever we get a positive test
[39:23] we have to be able to move quickly
and turn that information over to the
[39:28] county health department so that they
could be gaining power
[39:29] tracing and figuring out who it is
[39:37] so that's been uh
i think it's been very impressive
[39:46] what the school has done
[39:50] and you are doing all you can to stay
open
[39:54] because
[40:08] you
[40:22] we possibly can but i will say in terms
of
[40:26] those that are very public with their
data because we've tried to be very
[40:28] transparent with all more information
with those around the state for being as
[40:33] transparent and communicating their
members
[40:37] members of positives within our school
system
[40:41] they're up there i mean they're up there
with um
[40:44] lists of schools that have multiple
times where we do not have students that
[40:47] we have
so it is a very it's a very real issue
[40:51] regardless
of whether those students are ending up
[40:54] in the icu or you know whatever
i mean it is truly in terms of the
[40:57] numbers that we've had
based on the number of students we've
[41:02] had it's it's
we have a lot of cases
[41:18] at the very least
[41:27] you know everybody on the same page some
sort of campaign just
[41:31] something because i i to
to hear the real information the real
[41:37] numbers i think would
for some people that maybe aren't
[41:40] plugging kids in the system or you know
those types of things
[41:44] i think it would maybe be surprising
that they're personally
[42:10] you should be able to give
[42:15] and i guidance know that some of the
statewide numbers we've seen come down
[42:19] um i've seen some really interesting
graphics statewide
[42:23] from some dates of some of the larger
municipalities and other
[42:26] you know cities across the state that
have had some sort of ordinance
[42:31] in the downticks that that's created
so in terms of its effectiveness
[42:40] now that magnitude
[43:10] um myself personally but also just from
a school standpoint
[43:14] we've had so much support um and so many
just
[43:18] random messages notes and emails and
calls just saying
[43:21] we appreciate what you guys are doing
and you're a tough situation
[43:24] because again as a reflection of the
community we are kind of
[43:27] i don't say caught the middle to make it
sound bad but but we just
[43:30] we just are um we're we deal with the
situation as it comes to us
[43:34] and sometimes we don't have a lot of
control over
[43:38] 2007
[43:52] much less than families so i think that
you know
[43:56] we should be able to find some way to
have more effective encouraging people
[44:02] to be safe
and see if we can get this to drop down
[44:10] yeah and that's kind of what you're
doing you're just
[44:14] because the dome you're not
you're not required to wear a mask
[44:21] with that we've had conversations i
think that uh
[44:24] without enforcement those types of
things from other communities and stuff
[44:27] again
that's not something that is out of the
[44:31] real possibility for us it's probably
getting
[44:33] i would say it's probably getting closer
than it is further away
[44:36] just because we are just when we look at
numbers we are
[44:41] in in a situation where we do have
community spreads
[44:44] there are a lot of there are a lot of um
cities and towns our sides are smaller
[44:49] they've had higher case numbers or seen
moving sites but they've had
[44:52] you know they have a correctional
facility or they have
[44:56] a nursing home a long-term you know
sailor hospital some people have had
[45:00] outbreaks we've seen some pretty good
numbers and all of those have been
[45:05] just in the community and so i would say
that that's never off the table so well
[45:11] in essence
[45:23] virtually zero issues for our students
because our students want to be at
[45:26] school they need to be there
they'll do it and that has not been an
[45:30] issue for us

cdvg grant for the tax system at the
[46:46] clinton link project

grant

carbon system for the like
[46:58] prostate which addresses

that equivalent so this is actually

back in that used to be out there as
[48:26] part of the treatment process

two regulations for pac there's a

for construction because it's explosive
[48:40] so depending on what you put in
has absolute design criteria

uh carbon activated supersac so it's

[49:24] the second part is the regulation for
the controlled test number

and odor at all surface water treatment

the use of chlorination chlorine dioxide
[49:50] fire activated carbon granular activated
carbon absorption humans potassium

use
[49:58] activated back outer activated carbon is
by far the cheapest
[50:02] to use and it covers a wide range of
taste and other causing bacteria

algorithm

as an indicator of how the lake's doing
