[1:59] Mhm. [3:54] » Mhm. [5:07] » I think that's an important thing to [5:08] build on and reach out to the people of [5:11] the community and see who wants to be a [5:13] part of that, but also utilizing the [5:15] college that's next door with these [5:17] young people who are looking for [5:19] opportunities in the fire service, [5:21] housing, education, and you know, [5:24] growing that as a process. Again, all of [5:27] these things are great important things [5:30] that are going to happen quickly, but [5:32] they are things that I am fortunate to [5:34] have navigated [5:36] um with many people. [5:37] Uh grant funding is available. Um so, [5:40] those are other things to be a a primary [5:42] focus of mine is to obtain funding that [5:46] supports itself instead of the city [5:49] you know, taking on the burden because [5:51] the fire service isn't cheap. Uh our [5:53] bunker gear is $5 to $10,000 to outfit [5:57] 10 people. [5:58] Um and that's with up-to-date, you know, [6:01] not not hand-me-downs because legally we [6:04] can't do that anymore. So, it's it's a [6:07] lot of work is what I see and I'm [6:09] willing to put in that work. Um [6:12] which I think is something that has been [6:14] missing for a little while. [6:16] Um so, yeah. I have experience. Um [6:20] I've written one grant in my life and [6:21] got it. So, I definitely need to grow in [6:23] that area, but I have experience with it [6:25] and building programs. So, I feel like [6:29] that's another avenue that I have and [6:31] the fact that I already have a [6:32] connection with the college down here in [6:34] order to get me there. Oh, it's a real [6:36] fire. Um [6:39] Sorry, we're doing the callback right [6:40] now. [6:41] >> Beep. [6:42] » Beep. [6:42] >> That's okay. Are you Are you okay? [6:44] » That's okay. Are you Are you okay? [6:44] >> Oh, yeah, but I could go in I could go [6:46] » Oh, yeah, but I could go in I could go [6:46] into work and [6:47] light more fires. So, as we know there's [6:49] a lot of fire in this community. Well, [6:52] luckily not in Cosmopolis. Let's keep it [6:54] out of Cosy, but in Aberdeen we seem to [6:56] light everything on fire or somebody [6:58] does. [6:59] >> All right. [7:00] » All right. [7:01] And so, is there a motion to confirm the [7:04] appointment of Casey Joe [7:07] Mitch [7:07] >> Maccabee. [7:08] » Maccabee. [7:08] >> Maccabee [7:09] » Maccabee [7:09] as fire chief of the city of Cosmopolis. [7:13] >> So moved. [7:14] » So moved. [7:14] >> Is there a second? [7:17] » Is there a second? [7:17] >> I second. [7:18] » I second. [7:18] >> Councilman Skelton seconds. [7:20] » Councilman Skelton seconds. [7:20] >> Okay. Um is there a discussion? [7:23] » Okay. Um is there a discussion? [7:23] >> I'm curious about you um I appreciate [7:26] » I'm curious about you um I appreciate [7:26] your time that you put in obviously in [7:28] your career. [7:30] Your volunteer time in Hoquiam [7:33] you know, [7:33] put you in pretty good light as far as, [7:36] you know, being here. So, I appreciate [7:37] all that effort. [7:39] Do you Do you reside Do you live [7:42] in Oregon? Do you live where do you [7:44] >> in Grant. [7:44] » in Grant. [7:44] >> In Grant. Okay. [7:45] » In Grant. Okay. [7:45] >> So [7:46] » So [7:46] I definitely understand the distance [7:49] but putting time in is not something [7:52] that [7:52] >> [clears throat] [7:53] » [clears throat] [7:53] >> I'm opposed to doing. [7:54] » I'm opposed to doing. [7:54] >> Yeah. [7:54] » Yeah. [7:54] >> Um [7:55] » Um [7:55] so [7:56] I commute already. [7:57] >> Sure. [7:58] » Sure. [7:58] >> So it's it's nothing. It's only an hour [8:00] » So it's it's nothing. It's only an hour [8:00] and 40 minutes. [8:01] >> The um [8:02] » The um [8:02] I like the idea of using the college and [8:05] working on a residency program. And [8:07] you'd mentioned uh [8:10] you know [8:11] going to get back and rebuilding the [8:14] the culture. [8:15] And I I think that's important. Um [8:19] so [8:22] that's all I have. [8:23] >> Any other discussion at this time? [8:26] » Any other discussion at this time? [8:26] >> Um I I will say that I was um [8:31] » Um I I will say that I was um [8:31] part of the group that did sit and went [8:34] over her qualifications and her resume [8:37] and had the discussion [8:39] here earlier in the week and was very [8:42] impressed with the your vision for what [8:45] we could be [8:47] with the right direction. And and the [8:50] processes is that you have an idea of [8:53] putting in uh [8:56] I went home feeling that there is hope [8:58] for us in maintaining or continuing our [9:01] program here and and uh [9:03] um [9:05] making it a viable group. It has fell on [9:07] hard times. It has a couple of times. [9:10] And right now we really do need a shot [9:12] in the arm and I think you come in as a [9:15] paramedic willing to give shots. So it's [9:17] a great idea. [9:19] Um for me. [9:21] >> Yeah, I'm a member of that. I was there [9:22] » Yeah, I'm a member of that. I was there [9:22] and it was an extensive interview and it [9:24] was very informative and you're highly [9:28] qualified for the job and look forward [9:30] to seeing [9:31] the change in Cottage Grove Fire [9:33] Department. Yes, desperately needed. [9:36] Thank you. Any other? [9:39] >> So, in your in your EMS response here, [9:43] » So, in your in your EMS response here, [9:43] um [9:45] would you provide advanced life support [9:47] here? [9:48] >> We cannot. Um the agency is only BLS. [9:52] » We cannot. Um the agency is only BLS. [9:52] So, you can't you can't go over your [9:54] agency opportunity. Now, if Aberdeen [9:57] fire shows up and on scene, I can be a [9:59] paramedic because the equipment's [10:02] available, but as a responder in Cosy, I [10:06] can only be BLS. [10:09] » And [10:10] and I've I've got one more comment to [10:11] make is that she did [10:14] explain and we talked that that she'll [10:16] come in as a fire chief administrator. [10:20] Probably not respond to every call. It [10:22] would be really hard for her to be able [10:24] to to to do that in the fight, but as [10:27] far as operations of the fire station, [10:31] I think we'd be in good hands just in [10:33] this direction. [10:37] » Okay. [10:39] Um [10:39] seeing no further discussion, all those [10:41] in favor say I. [10:43] >> I. [10:45] » I. [10:45] >> Hearing any opposed, [10:48] » Hearing any opposed, [10:48] the eyes have it. The motion carries. [10:51] Congratulations, Casey Joe Mick and [10:56] I'll get it [10:57] >> [laughter] [10:58] » [laughter] [10:58] >> now. So, on behalf of the city of [11:00] » now. So, on behalf of the city of [11:00] Cosmopolis, we congratulate you. We look [11:03] forward to your leadership [11:05] and service to our community. And at [11:07] this time, I will swear you in. So, we [11:10] can stand up. [11:20] » Picture. Somebody's got to get a [11:21] picture. [11:27] » All right. [11:29] So, you will repeat after me, okay? And [11:33] then with your right hand. [11:36] I I [11:38] Stacey Darrach McMillan [11:41] do solemnly swear [11:43] that I will support the Constitution of [11:45] the United States and the Constitution [11:48] and laws of the city of Washington and [11:50] all ordinances [11:52] for the city of Cosmopolis, Washington [11:54] and that I will faithfully and [11:56] impartially perform and discharge the [11:58] duties of fire chief according to the [12:00] law and the best of my ability. [12:03] Okay. [12:04] Welcome. Thank you. [12:06] So, we'll go ahead and sign the papers. [12:09] This is the one that you sign. [12:33] Welcome to the city and to the [12:35] department. Thank you so much. [12:36] >> All right. Thank you for coming on [12:38] » All right. Thank you for coming on [12:38] board. [12:38] >> That's all right. Thank you. [12:39] » That's all right. Thank you. [12:39] >> Thank you. [12:40] » Thank you. [12:40] >> Very much. [12:43] Thank you. [12:45] Thank you, sir. [12:47] >> I'd be working for [12:48] » I'd be working for [12:48] >> Yeah, you bet. [12:49] » Yeah, you bet. [12:49] And hopefully when we stop at the [12:51] college you know [12:52] >> Oh, perfect. [12:54] » Oh, perfect. [12:54] Welcome. [12:55] >> You know what? Awesome. [12:59] » Well, at this time [13:01] um there's no further business before us [13:05] would you [clears throat] like to [13:06] >> I make a motion to adjourn the meeting. [13:09] » I make a motion to adjourn the meeting. [13:09] >> And then I second. [13:10] » And then I second. [13:10] >> Council Darcie will second that. [13:13] » Council Darcie will second that. [13:13] >> The meeting is adjourned at 6:17. [13:16] » The meeting is adjourned at 6:17. [13:16] Thank you, everyone. [13:17] >> Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
