[6:29] anything else jim no any questions of city administrator no [6:34] just a quick uh comment uh [6:37] with the last email you sent about the 14 candidates for academic development [6:42] when it comes to the end can the council be part of [6:46] not the questioning but to listen to the uh candidate the final two or three [6:51] candidates listen to [6:54] their presentation or uh well i don't know if we're having a [6:59] presentation yet so i'm not sure [7:06] well right now i'm planning on having at least two rounds of interviews correct [7:09] but in the end when you come down to like the the the final two or three [7:13] candidates uh is the council going to be involved [7:17] uh that wasn't my plan no um i think we have to find a way i'm not [7:24] i'm not asking that we have to ask questions i think all the candidates [7:27] should be asked the same questions but i think we need to be involved in a [7:30] decision at this point just because of the track record that we [7:34] had in the past um i would like to see the final [7:39] two candidates well it is the council's decision to make the appointment but we [7:44] will only bring us one person and how can we make a decision on one [7:48] person i would like to see the final two or [7:51] three candidates well what's the practice been [7:54] mayor i mean i understand it was and two rounds of interviews that was done by [7:58] staff bringing the top candidate to city [8:01] council [8:03] i think that's maybe part of alderwoman gazelle's question is the [8:09] concern of that process possibly [8:12] of not being involved before the appointment is that [8:16] is that what i'm hearing you say [8:20] yes i just i just want to see the last two [8:23] candidates i mean just like the way when we interviewed [8:27] for your position we were involved in the whole process i'm not asking to ask [8:30] the minimum like all these questions obviously [8:33] you're going to have a format of questions that are going to be asked for [8:36] everybody right so the last two candidates your top two [8:39] candidates it would be nice to for all of us to be [8:43] involved in listening to [8:46] their vision and their goals and who they come from instead of bringing one [8:50] person say okay this is who you have to vote so are you saying you want to do [8:54] the second round interview i don't want to do the second round [8:57] interview i just want to be part of it if the [9:00] council can't hear [9:04] the candidates so we can have a better view of what [9:07] they're looking for what their goals what their [9:11] accomplishment i mean if you're gonna bring me just one [9:14] obviously i have to go on right because we've been like for two years almost [9:17] with no economic development what i'm asking is bring us two or three people [9:21] that we can say okay this one is [9:24] better than this one or this is what's this guy is missing or this [9:28] person is missing or why why are you choosing this last person you know [9:34] okay can we talk about it later because i just have to yeah but i just want to [9:37] make sure that it's something that we that we'll think about and [9:43] then we should be part of the process okay [9:46] you know i just wanna make sure we're going to [9:50] pick the right kind this time [9:54] any other questions no thank you [9:57] okay thanks jim uh moving on to public works department our director of public [10:00] works mark seifer good evening mark good evening council i have no agenda items [10:04] this evening but i do want to remind all of
