[0:13] One of our priorities in the City of
Dania Beach is building partnerships
[0:17] that make a real difference in people's
lives. That's why I'm excited to
[0:22] announce that Memorial Healthcare System
is bringing One City at a Time, better
[0:26] known as O CAT, back to the City of
Dania Beach on October 17th from 10:00
[0:32] a.m. to 2:00 p.m. right here at C.W.
Thomas Park. Today, I'm so excited to be
[0:38] joined by Adara Adams, Director of
Community Services for Memorial
[0:43] Healthcare, to tell us just a little bit
more about O CAT and what our residents
[0:47] can expect.
>> Awesome, and thank you again so much for
[0:50] having us here with you. As you
mentioned, One City at a Time,
[0:52] affectionately known as O CAT, is
Memorial Healthcare System's community
[0:56] health initiative that we designed to be
able to bring healthcare, education, and
[0:59] resources directly to the communities
that we serve. Our goal really is
[1:03] simple, to make healthcare more
accessible. We created O CAT because we
[1:06] know there are many barriers that
prevent people from having access to the
[1:10] care that they need, whether that's
transportation, cost, anything. And so,
[1:14] Memorial's goal is to bring the services
closer to our residents, where they
[1:18] live, work, and raise their families.
>> Dania Beach was one of the first
[1:21] communities selected for O CAT. Why did
Memorial choose Dania Beach and what
[1:26] makes our partnership so special?
>> had a very long-standing partnership
[1:31] between Memorial and the City of Dania.
It is an important part of our South
[1:34] Broward community, which is the area
that we serve. When we first developed
[1:37] our One City at a Time initiative, we
really looked at our communities that
[1:40] were within our district, where we saw
opportunities to improve access to
[1:43] healthcare, and Dania Beach was one of
those communities. I love that. So,
[1:46] let's talk about the relaunch on October
17th. What can residents expect when
[1:51] they join us at C.W. Thomas Park? This
is going to be a family event. We're
[1:55] going to have something for everyone.
For the healthcare piece, we're going to
[1:57] have our mobile health vans here
providing health screenings,
[2:00] immunizations, and education. And then
we're going to bring a variety of our
[2:03] different community partners to give
access to resources and services. But
[2:07] the fun part about this all, we're going
to have a DJ, live music, games and
[2:11] activities for the kids. And best for
the families, we're going to be giving
[2:14] out free groceries and have a hot lunch
for everyone that's in attendance.
[2:17] » That's amazing. One of the things I love
most about this initiative is that it
[2:22] doesn't end after one event. What
happens after October 17th?
[2:26] » That ongoing presence is really at the
heart of what One City at a Time is.
[2:31] October 17th is serving as our relaunch
of the initiative, but we're going to
[2:34] continue to be in the community. And
we're actually starting early, so
[2:37] starting this month in September, we're
going to have our mobile vans, our adult
[2:40] and pediatric unit in the city of Dania
Beach two times a week through the end
[2:44] of November. So on Wednesdays, we'll be
at P.J. Meli Park from 10:00 to 5:00.
[2:48] And every Thursday, we'll be right here
at C.W. Thomas Park from 10:00 to 4:00
[2:51] p.m.
