[0:00] [Music] launched in June 2023 the greater [0:10] downtown east ban revitalization project built upon ongoing work to revitalize [0:15] and reimagine East moline's greater downtown area this project includes [0:19] continuing investment along 15th Avenue and Redevelopment between 12th Avenue in [0:24] the Mississippi River the greater downtown east Molen [0:28] revitalization project will create a beautiful walkable and bike friendly [0:32] greater downtown by better connecting three areas 15th Avenue East Molen Main [0:38] Street the Rust Belt area and the bend today walking or biking from the [0:45] riverfront in the Benin to the Rust Belt and Main Street can be difficult and may [0:49] even feel unsafe the project will create safe connections between all these areas [0:54] it unite opportunities for growth throughout East [0:57] Molen the greater downtown Rev ization project was developed by the city's [1:02] greater downtown master plan created in 2020 with the input of businesses [1:06] stakeholders and the Community Transportation improvements from that [1:10] Master Plan including a festival Street and more pedestrian friendly spaces on [1:15] 15th Avenue a complete streets reconstruction on 12th Avenue including [1:19] a bike path and sidewalks and a Road Extension at the bend these improvements [1:24] were included in a competitive Grant request that was selected for a $23.7 [1:28] million Federal Federal raise Grant in 2022 Grant funds for this project cannot [1:34] be used for anything outside what was originally proposed in the city's 2022 [1:38] Grant application to further refine the improvements for greater downtown and [1:43] speed along the review and approval process the design team has broken the [1:47] project into four sub projects the first sub project ready for construction will [1:51] be streetscaping of existing roadways at the bend where construction will begin [1:56] in 2025 the other sub projects include downtown to 15th Avenue Construction in [2:03] 2025 and 2026 the Rust Belt area 12th Avenue and [2:07] 7th Street Construction in 2026 and the B Boulevard extension [2:13] construction beginning in 2027 each sub project will have its own [2:17] public meeting over the course of 2024 where you will have the opportunity to [2:21] share input your input will help the project team to refine proposed [2:25] improvements and develop final designs for the project we are also working to [2:29] identify brand elephants for all of Greater downtown through lines that will [2:34] help tie together the whole area while also showcasing the unique identity East [2:38] Molen Main Street the Rust Belt and the bend everything from way finding to [2:43] consistent materials and physical elements will help tie the area together [2:47] and invite visitors from place to place throughout a series of workshops initial [2:51] thoughts from Community leaders business owners and residents helped us put [2:56] together an initial set of characteristics and [2:58] materials the city and project team are building the look and feel of these [3:02] raise Grant funded projects around what we hear from you your feedback will help [3:07] us develop final designs for all of Greater downtown to stay connected with [3:11] the project visit downtown east mol.com for more [3:15] information now let's talk about the first sub project the bend streetscaping [3:20] the bend includes the area north of 12th Avenue between First Street and 7th [3:25] Street including Bend Boulevard in Mississippi Parkway today the there are [3:30] no sidewalks or active Transportation infrastructure connecting the riverfront [3:34] existing attractions throughout the bend and 12th Avenue the raise Grant includes [3:39] funding to remedy this shortcoming with streetscaping along these existing [3:43] roadways this sub project focuses on making it easier to get to the area's [3:47] entertainment local businesses and the riverfront as well as creating a place [3:51] residents and visitors want to stay and enjoy a 10t multi-use path will be added [3:56] all along Ben Boulevard to provide safe connection between 12,00 Avenue the bend [4:00] and the riverfront crosswalks will be improved with markings and signage on [4:05] Mississippi Parkway a 6-ft sidewalk will be added in raised crosswalks and added [4:10] Street trees other improvements throughout the bend will include seating [4:14] added trees waist recepticles and wayfinding signs to help guide visitors [4:18] from place to place including to other parts of the greater downtown these [4:22] improvements will help safely and seamlessly connect the bend area with [4:26] the Rust Belt area and downtown areas construction for this project is slated [4:30] to start in 2025 now it's time where we need your [4:35] input [4:38] [Music] [4:44] [Music]
