[0:00] Hello everyone. This is Tim Notetaker,
chairman of the board for the village of
[0:04] Eolia. Just wanted to give an update.
It's August 2025.
[0:09] The grant came available once again
through MODOT for sidewalks. This time
[0:15] we decided that we're going to try to do
it in two sections, uh, two parts.
[0:21] And the first part if we are awarded uh
we will go from Scotty's
[0:28] uh put in a new sidewalk around the
corner there down the front of the uh
[0:37] businesses and we will replace all that.
It'll stop there and then next year we
[0:42] will reapply for the second stage
uh and it will go all along Main Street
[0:49] and replace the sidewalk that's
currently there. So hopefully we get
[0:53] awarded that this year and uh if we do
we will find out uh I think second week
[1:00] of September around September 12th if we
are awarded that. We have done updates
[1:05] in the park. We moved the swings over
next to the other playground. Uh we have
[1:10] extended put in a new basketball court,
new basketball goal. And the uh idea is
[1:19] to try and surface the concrete and make
it also where we could use it for pickle
[1:26] ball. Um, we would have a uh a net that
maybe is on wheels uh something like
[1:32] that where it can be rolled off and then
uh set to the side if people want to use
[1:37] it then uh we can also have it moved
over or if they want to use basketball
[1:42] goal then it can be moved out of the
way. Uh we are looking at maybe putting
[1:47] two or three basketballs in the um
office where if it's during the day kids
[1:54] are wanting to play, they could come in
and uh sign out a basketball from Angela
[2:00] and uh and then they could have a
basketball to use if they don't have
[2:05] their own basketball.
Um we did do sewer testing last month,
[2:11] smoke testing. I appreciate everybody's
patience. on that. Uh we did find quite
[2:17] a few uh areas where there is an influx
of rainwater coming into the system. Um,
[2:24] we were told by um the guy that was
helping us with DNR that or I'm sorry,
[2:31] Missouri rule water that uh if we get
these areas cleaned up um we may not be
[2:40] as uh reliant on getting a new lagoon to
put more houses on the system. Um
[2:50] we're just getting that much rain water
in the system. So, in the future, we
[2:54] will need to look at getting a grant or
uh I have been talking to Chad Perkins
[2:59] with the state of Missouri uh to maybe
get some funding uh for sewer upgrades
[3:06] and um we're just trying to get some
numbers put together. Uh so, just be
[3:11] patient with us uh as we fix some of
these uh influxes of of places that are
[3:18] allowing water into the system. And um
as we address those
[3:24] uh there will be a public hearing later
this month on tax rates. Uh we have not
[3:30] set a date, but we will be setting a
date at the next meeting. Tax bills will
[3:34] be mailed out no later than October 10th
and they are due on December 31st. We
[3:40] did pave First Street uh this year. We
paved the parking lot to the park and we
[3:46] also paved the parking in front of uh
the businesses. got them all striped.
[3:51] The plan is also uh going forward uh is
putting a little
[3:58] sidewalk from the handicap area to the
gazebo uh so that anybody that is uh in
[4:05] a wheelchair or uh has trouble walking
would not have to step down or anything.
[4:11] It'll be from the black top straight
over to the gazebo. Uh, and then we are
[4:16] looking at taking out the old pad where
the barbecue grills are, putting in a
[4:25] long pad where we can put all three
picnic tables together, putting in a two
[4:30] new grills, and eventually covering it
with a uh kind of like the gazebo,
[4:37] putting a cover over it so that if it's
raining or something, um, people can
[4:42] still be out there eating and not get
wet.
[4:46] Um
the plan is next year, now that we have
[4:50] most of the streets and everything
caught up, uh repaved, the plan next
[4:55] year is to work on, um trying to
fix culverts, ditches, drainage. Uh that
[5:04] way all the work we've done on repaving
is not uh undone through poor drainage.
[5:10] Um so look forward to that next year.
Um,
[5:16] we did discuss with DNR the over
overflowing on the lagoon. It's been a
[5:21] rainy year. Um, looking at options to
prevent prevent that without needing to
[5:27] rush into putting another lagoon in for
it to drain into or whatever like that.
[5:32] Um, and so that's that is ongoing.
Homecoming is September 20th. Um the day
[5:40] uh the events that day will start at
11:00 a.m. and end at 700 p.m. I

[5:49] doing stuff for us in the city, and um I
