commissioner in 15 months of that I was
[0:09] the mayor of
Franklin and
[0:13] then in
[0:17] 2010 I well 11 was the end of my term as
a mayor and I was out of City
[0:25] Commissioner for eight
years so I came back back in
[0:32] 2018 and I've been here ever since so
that's completing my commission out have
[0:39] 26 years in city
government I'm from Franklin I've been
[0:45] here all my life I was
raised up 307 Breen rid Street in
[0:52] Franklin I went to linol high school
graduated from Lincoln High School
[0:58] 1959 from there I went to Western trade
school while working at uh M drug
[1:10] store I went to school at night so from
there I went to PM brunfield worked
[1:21] there 12 years left went to Bowling
Green worked at the crane company up
[1:28] there for six years and it closed down
and come back to pars and work 17 more
[1:33] years so I had 29 29 years in at part
brunville community means pretty much
[1:42] everything to me because I never
left and I've
[1:48] always wanted to have some input not to
run the community but just be a a team
[1:56] player in the community and send
what's best for the
[2:02] community because we as they used to say
Franklin is small enough to know you and
[2:10] that's my I said that I guess that's my
motto being small enough to know people
[2:17] the fact
that
[2:20] everybody that's been around as long as
I have they either know them or they
[2:25] know their family and I think that's
pretty neat because respect is what you
[2:32] hope to have and if people know you they
know they know your attitudes and the
[2:40] fact that you are tried to treat people
like you want to be treated that's in
[2:46] the olden days we had we had bowling
alleys we had movie theaters and all
[2:52] those type of things here and some young
people don't even know that you know and
[2:58] I would like to see see something to
that
[3:03] nature come back to Franklin I think
that would keep a lot of people that
[3:09] would be productive in this community if
we had that to
[3:14] offer I think what we do have the
growth has
[3:21] improved but you know
uh in areas you know it's some things
[3:29] that you know the growth the W Forest
work here work places prod you know
[3:34] that's pretty much as as well to be
expected for this size of town but
[3:41] there's other things just like I said
you know we have churches we have
[3:46] schools and we want the best for the
children in this community as far as the
[3:51] school system and uh those are things
that you that I look at that I never see
[4:01] but it would be good for the
future the mayor and the city manager
[4:06] has and the Commissioners have tried to
make it better for for the workforce
[4:12] here and uh and speaking of the
workforce I think the city has tried to
[4:20] the Commissioners have tried to make the
the
[4:25] workers that that uh I guess you would
say the workers that's out on the the
[4:31] streets doing the water and the all that
type of thing I think uh there's always
[4:38] room for improvement
there I would like for the working
[4:45] conditions for the people that try to
make things better in this community to
[4:51] have what they need and be respected for
what they
[4:56] doing and uh that's I think think if you
know that would work if you can work
[5:04] together you can get you know you can
get things done and I think the city as
[5:10] a whole the people in the
communities if they've been around as
[5:14] long as I have they realize that uh
things have been made better and there's
[5:21] but there's always room for
[5:28] improvement
