[0:03] We have a volunteer. Okay. Are we ready? Sure. Okay. The park [0:11] board of the city of Gunarrel City, Texas will meet in a regular meeting in [0:15] city hall council chambers located at 1716 [0:19] West Main Street, Gunarrel City, Texas, Monday, August the 10th, 2026 at 4:00 [0:27] p.m. I call this meeting to order. All right. So, we need to do roll call [0:34] from my left right. >> Shelby here. [0:38] » Carlin here. Laura Young. Here we have a quorum. [0:44] All right. So, under three, it says new business. Consider and take action to [0:49] approve the July 13th, 2026 meeting minutes. [0:55] » I uh vote to approve them. [1:00] » I guess you >> I was not here, so I have to recuse [1:04] myself. >> Uh can I second them? [1:07] » Sure. >> Second. Okay. Hello. [1:10] » All right. What is all this? Oh. Um. [1:21] Mhm. [clears throat] [1:23] » How y'all doing? >> Good. Good. Good. [1:27] You're here. [1:36] I didn't for a second. [1:41] Hello. Thank you. [1:46] » All right. Um, we have our minutes that are up for a vote [1:53] and Carla made the motion and I made the [1:57] second. So, we just need to vote on that. [2:11] Who? I'm sorry. [clears throat] >> Carla Dudson. [2:15] » And I made the second. So, [2:22] » is everybody in favor of it? >> Yes. [2:25] » Okay. >> We started right at 4:00. [2:37] Just tell me when you're ready for me. >> Okay, great. All right. Um, [2:43] so motions um passed uh for approving the minutes. All right. Item 3B is July [2:51] 1st recap and discussion. So [2:58] here >> did we approve the minutes? [3:00] » Yes. She just texted us and she's not >> okay. All right. That was what I That's [3:06] what I had. >> Who first and second? [3:09] » I first. She's second. >> And I was actually recusal. [3:14] » So the three of us voted. Yes. >> Okay. [3:21] » All right. Well, first totally. Okay. >> I think you did it twice. You already [3:25] » I did because when I read it, I thought, well, wait a minute. [3:28] » Okay. Now we're on Now we're on 3B. >> We are on it. [3:32] » Yeah. >> Okay. [3:34] » All right. So, I just want to thank everybody for showing up and making our [3:40] July Fest. >> Oh, I had so much fun this time. [3:44] » Had a good time. Thank you everyone for um being there and taking your shift. [3:50] Um [clears throat] Frank sent an email on what he thought. [3:55] So, we can just kind of you can read that and I just wanted to [4:03] see what everyone thought about overall. How do you think that we did? So, you [4:11] have that >> uh you're talking about the kid area, [4:15] not the only Oh, I will say that uh we had a lot of those fans left and when I [4:20] took those several and I walked around the crowd, you know, it hadn't been the [4:25] huge crowd yet. >> And I'd see a lady like an older lady [4:29] even or just anybody, you know, and I I'd do that demonstration. I had down, [4:35] you know, and they just loved it. >> It was a good promotion. Do you all [4:39] agree on that? >> It was good. [4:42] » They really liked it. >> Was good. [clears throat] [4:45] » So, um, what about being trained and prepped beforehand? I think I you have [4:52] some things to say about that, right? >> Well, ju just just that, uh, the the [4:57] setup seemed a little bit different from some more because the time before they [5:00] had somebody that came up and said, "All right, when you guys are watching this, [5:04] this is what the rules are. When you're doing this, this is what the rules are." [5:07] and they didn't have that this time. Kind of new from the year before, but [5:11] but you know, that part just seemed a little different. [5:14] » Okay. >> But but I think it's [5:16] » So, and then also the setup time didn't seem to be exactly on. We were ready to [5:23] go at 5 and some of the >> things were not ready. [5:28] » Yeah. The the the setup has gone. >> Now, did we use a new uh business? No. [5:36] No. the sign. >> It was the same company for the last for [5:40] two years. We had a different one in 24, >> but we opened late. We opened late both [5:45] years. So, I think I think we may want to plan for uh [5:51] » you know, I think we may want to plan for that that that if they're kind of [5:54] coming in for the setup that we kind of tell them we want to be set up at a time [5:58] and we're actually open at maybe 30 minutes or an hour later cuz I think it [6:01] must be tough to gauge, right? >> Yeah. Um I I because I think in both [6:08] both cases that you know they'll have blowers that aren't quite working and [6:11] stuff like that. So it's not like they're not working. It's just they [6:14] can't quite get it there. So we can clean around [6:17] » synchronized together, >> you know. [6:19] » Mhm. >> I had hope for more kids. [6:23] » I'm sorry. >> I had hope for more kids. [6:26] » Do we have a totem? >> Yes, I do. Um, so what we can talk [6:31] about, um, Frank was saying and that he recommended going from 6 to 9. So we [6:40] could maybe say something like >> it needs to be set and ready to go at [6:45] 5:45 with the the team that are setting it up and then be ready to go at 6 [6:54] possibly. >> Okay. Yeah. [6:57] What do you guys think about starting at 6 and [7:02] there was hardly anybody there as hot as can be and all I could think about was [7:06] who wants to be out here playing on these hot inflatables and then I had to [7:10] go like you're thinking like a older adult but still [7:14] » it just Yeah. >> Yeah. My kids got worn out and they [7:17] didn't go back cuz they were there plat >> I think 6 and then letting it go to 9 [7:26] » because it just started really taking off right at 8:00. So what our [7:32] observations were cuz a lot of the times you know the parents will let the kids [7:37] go off and do that you know while they're watching the deal as well. I [7:42] think the little later would be great. And how did you feel about writing the [7:47] numbers on the >> Was there enough communication writing? [7:52] » You felt like there was Okay. [clears throat] [7:55] » Then we had a little bit of a difficulty with our shifts and um I think it was [8:02] just because we weren't communicating. I had no idea the young lady from that was [8:07] doing community service was going to be there. And I if I'd known that I think [8:12] we could have cut the shifts way down and [8:16] » there was a lot of us for [clears throat] good that we showed up. [8:20] Just wasn't anything to do. >> Yeah. [8:22] » Wow. >> I will say I will say that's the awesome [8:25] problem to have the year before and one of the notes I [8:30] got was you know we had ample volunteers that was a welcome. [8:34] » Yeah. Don't want to cut them bad. >> Right. And I and I'm, you know, I'm not [8:37] opposed to, you know, I just think I could have even done shorter shifts and [8:42] maybe done three of them if I'd been aware. So, but um, you know, as far as [8:48] it went, it was a move. Everybody was covered. [8:52] » Um, we needed to probably emphasize staying closer to the bounce houses and [9:00] stuff for for that type of thing, especially the little ones. Um, so but [9:06] we kind of just gravitated back and forth, so I felt like it was okay. Um, [9:13] and then what about the cost? Because I have [9:23] written down what we did this time. We made quite a bit of money. Um, we made [9:30] $670. This is initial, not verification of all [9:36] of the numbers with uh the city's uh treasurer. [9:41] » Yeah. >> So, we took in $310 [9:44] in cash and about $360 in credit cards. [9:50] » Mhm. >> So, that was really good. [9:52] » Yeah. >> Uh the year before we only brought in [9:56] $370. >> That's a big jump. And then in 2024, [10:01] $535. [10:05] So, I don't know how it was such a big jump. [10:09] Uh maybe just more people bought tickets. [10:12] » More people. >> It was definitely more there this year [10:16] than was last year. I'm talking about the whole public. [10:19] » Yeah. Yeah. The whole thing it was it was it had grown. Are you kidding? [10:25] There also people, you know, with the money, it's, you know, [10:30] everybody's having to spend more money on food and gas and, you know, [10:35] » I I think the $10 was a sweet spot, though. I I had we had [10:39] » Did you feel like it was good? >> Yeah. [10:41] » Okay. >> So, so I guess the notes I had from the [10:45] time were a little different than the 370. [10:47] » I just Yes. >> But, you know, I think, you know, that's [10:50] a five bucks to immediately cut cut. and and I ran the the [10:57] money and the people come in and I think there was really only one that that [11:01] complained but he broke in and done it anyway. [11:06] So, >> but he left for a little while. [11:07] » Um Frank said that he would like to have seen five $5 for next year. Um, but I, [11:17] you know, I didn't see anybody really complaining about [11:20] » That's what I'm saying. I take taking their money. I only the one guy and he [11:25] didn't really complain hard. He just thought it was a lot for for it. And [11:30] » but then I had other others like little kids tell me it's so neat that we can do [11:34] everything. One of them tell me they went somewhere and they had to pay $3 [11:39] to do each. >> Oh, each deal. [11:42] » Sure. So, even the kids noticed it as a deal. Well, that's good. Um, we did, [11:48] Brooke, we were talking about it the coverage and the young lady that you [11:54] sent to us, Melody. Yeah. It would have been nice to known it ahead of time cuz [11:58] we could have readjusted our >> um I didn't have cuz she's community [12:04] service, >> so I didn't want to guarantee that she [12:08] was going to be there and her not show up. So, I didn't I didn't know if she [12:12] was going to show up or not. There was no guarantee of because I've had that [12:16] problem where they've said I'm going to be here and I've scheduled them out and [12:20] then they don't show up. And so, I didn't want to guarantee that to you and [12:24] then her not show up and you depending on it. [12:26] » Sure. >> Okay. [clears throat] Well, that answers [12:29] that one. So, shift length, was it okay? [12:36] » Yes. No. >> I didn't know what you said. I thought [12:39] » I stayed the whole time. What did you say? [12:41] » I didn't know what ship. >> Yes, it was. [12:44] » No, she put you on her >> I thought she [12:48] [laughter] I thought she was saying to me, [12:49] » "What did you guys think about the little kids [12:53] Ariel that seemed to be a big hit?" >> Oh, yes. That one. That one. I didn't [12:59] get to see anybody really on except >> the little tiny kids. [13:03] » Yeah, cuz >> Oh, they were just Yeah, I bet they did. [13:06] » They loved them. I think it was great to have their own spot and not like the big [13:10] ones on the page. >> We had to get a few big ones. [13:13] » I was going to say, did you >> I think I think it's important to have [13:17] that, you know. I think that was a but I wonder if we might want to see if we get [13:22] one with a roof on it just so that there's shade on it, [13:25] » you know, next time. But but I think it's it's great having a [13:30] » Okay. I don't have water cuz it's too [13:35] financially No, years ago they um it flooded all of [13:41] the vendors when we went out on the water. [13:43] » Oh, okay. >> Was that the same year? Cuz somebody [13:46] said, "Wasn't it muddy one year?" I was like, "I don't remember that that would [13:49] make sense that year." [laughter] >> And you know, we would be able [13:55] » we would be able to control that a little more. Um but that's why we kind [14:00] of let's not do that again. But I I I think we can consider like having one or [14:06] something [14:09] » lock and walk. >> But you know, is as blazing hot as it [14:12] was cuz I know Sicilia was walking around to begin with just putting her [14:15] hand on stuff. Put my hand on it. >> But at the same time, [14:19] » I didn't see anybody complaining. >> There was a good breeze. [14:23] » There was a good breeze. >> Some kids were just going over and over [14:28] and over again. I saw kids kind of getting overheated and moved in. We were [14:32] handing out some of our water. >> You know, we might want to get some [14:37] kidsiz waters next year and just plan on >> needing that, you know. Um [14:43] » and then um I I think um the closing we we needed more direction, Brooke. So, we [14:52] really did cuz we didn't really know what we were supposed to do. We didn't [14:56] know how to lock it. We didn't, but we broke it all down and then uh Cashbox [15:02] who did answer that when I called you and that was escorted up with one of [15:06] those nice police officers. So, turned out really good. [15:10] » So, >> yeah, I normally I'm just scheduled to [15:14] do things during that time, so I couldn't come over and help you guys [15:18] with that. But, >> you need to help us. We just [laughter] [15:21] know what to do. >> We have volunteers a lot. [15:24] » Yeah. But next year we can make sure that that that process is laid out. [15:29] » Okay, it sounds good. >> And and and the part I guess in the past [15:33] we've needed we've needed to lock the gates so nobody can come walk in and [15:36] drive us fastest, but I couldn't find a way to do it. You know, there weren't [15:39] any locks. >> Huh. Okay. Yeah, we could that side the [15:44] the lock. Okay, I know what you're talking about. [15:47] » So that's it's not that big of a deal. Yeah, [laughter] [15:50] » it wasn't a big deal because they were taking it. They [clears throat] [15:54] immediately deflated and so it wasn't like anybody was going to come and try [15:59] to jump. So, >> but we would, [16:02] » you know, like to know better what to do with all of that. [16:05] » So, any other comments? Uh, we didn't like our white [laughter] [16:11] » volunteer shirts. >> Oh, the wine. [16:16] » That was funny. That's just cuz we're old fogies. [16:19] » [laughter] >> I've already cut mine up and got it [16:22] tonight. [laughter] [16:25] » Got I got mine all wandered and hung up, too. [16:29] » All right. Do we have any more? >> You know, I made a I made a note. We We [16:33] had like a spill in the obstacle course where a kid's gooey ball kind of closed [16:38] up and just got glittery goop all over it. [16:41] » And that's a kudos to uh down some more cuz I didn't have any way to clean it [16:47] up. They went and jumped in the truck, got towels, had bleach spray, and the [16:50] other sprayer just dived in there >> and he had it cleaned up in just a few [16:54] minutes and told me it's like I didn't have to use bleach, so they can come in [16:57] right away, >> you know, and it's like I I thought that [16:59] was great, and I don't know whether we need to think about having to clean up [17:03] about that >> cuz they bailed us out. But that was the [17:06] part where it's like, oh yeah, I don't I can't clean it up. [17:10] » Yeah, we've probably done that before. >> Oh, yeah. [17:13] That's the benefit of having them there too is that they can [17:18] » and and I can't imagine we would but we should never think about having the [17:21] overunder or the Velcro wall without them bringing the people who are going [17:25] to run. >> All right. Any other discussion? [17:32] Okay. Great. All right. I can find where I am. [17:38] All righty. Item 3C, subcommittee updates. All right, we're going to Frank [17:46] sent me his, so I'm going to just read it. Um, so on grants, [17:52] Frank was able to talk to Mike Howell and he now has full access to all the [17:59] Texas Parks and Wildlife um, grant material. And so he felt like [18:05] that we're in good hands. So we know now to move forward who we talked to and all [18:11] of that. Um and then he said we have not had any word on the Lowe's grants and [18:18] that was a question. Uh Angie wrote the grant or sent sent it [18:26] off and do we have [clears throat] access to her emails or how is that? We [18:33] have access. Steve looked. He did not receive anything from Lowe's. We let we [18:37] let um Frank know that. Okay, good. >> We're just kind of keeping an eye out. [18:42] » Okay. >> Angie did include all of our grant [18:45] information websites. So, >> beautiful. [18:48] » What was the first one about him? Um >> Texas. Yeah. What What's the deal there? [18:56] Texas Parks and Wildlife. uh just that there's another grant they're applying [19:01] for at this time. So, we needed to have a contact with the city and that will be [19:08] Mike Howell. >> Okay. [clears throat] [19:12] » All righty. And then um the lights grant he said he needs um to I need to power [19:21] draw per lamp. Not sure how to get it get it. and he said, "Encore will [19:26] require a pre-insspection if we get a grant." And then he said he recommended [19:33] applying for the baseball fields first instead of the lights. So that's his [19:39] opinion on that. So I don't know where the direction is. I don't have access to [19:45] his paperwork, but it kind of made sense to me, isn't that? [19:50] » Yeah. Do we know if there's somebody with the city that knows what the [19:54] current draw is when they're on committee? [19:59] » Yes, I have it in my um >> Can Have you sent it to Frank? [20:04] » I I think I did. >> Okay. Yeah, maybe double check on that. [20:09] [clears throat] >> Um but we do have it. I I Yeah. [20:13] » All right. So, please just make a note to send it off to them. [20:16] » That would be great. And then also um I think that's it. [20:23] That's it on that report. And then community outreach. [20:31] Brooke was able to get the Hoppers movie for us [20:39] uh for $525 and that will be taking place on 911 [20:45] 19206 which is a Saturday evening. [20:51] So, my question is, [20:56] um, do we have concessions or what what do you guys envision something like? [21:02] » Do we have a popcorn? >> I don't know what we have. [21:09] » I would think you want to have at least a couple of so people could get a drink [21:13] or food and then it works with them. >> So, would we set up a table? [21:18] » Yeah, we can set up a table. Um, >> and just [21:22] » if we have somebody that has a popcorn machine, do the popcorn or buy it from [21:27] the >> Did we still want to bring in a couple [21:30] of food trucks [21:34] » and that was a conversation and we wanted you guys wanted to pick out [21:38] » that sounds fun. >> A couple or one or two [21:40] » or would we rather just do concessions? I don't know. It's [21:45] » the thing sessions we have to be in charge of it. We have to have this stuff [21:48] and we have to where you already have the people that that's what they do and [21:52] they got >> there's so many around here. You got to [21:54] eliminate people just off the menu for actually is a kettle corn vendor and [22:00] » it doesn't have to actually be food. I don't guess it could just be like like [22:03] lemonade or popcorn but a lot of times they will have some other things besides [22:07] » so something specialization and just popcorn maybe and [22:13] somebody that'll do >> lemonade. [22:17] We also have cuz I'm thinking of all the people that signed up for July. [22:21] » Yeah, you would know better than anybody. [22:23] » I can get I can contact two or three of them. If you guys want something [22:27] specific like popcorn and lemonade, I can do that. [22:31] » You can get the popcorn up there at the movie theater. Huge bags. [22:35] » Yeah. And >> then you got to have it and handle half [22:38] or you can handle it. Put it in. We have volunteers that would be willing to do [22:42] that part, but I don't [22:45] » Yeah, it's not as fresh as coming out California. [22:50] » Have we got like a a hot dog vendor if we're just going for [22:55] » just a hot dog vendor? [clears throat] >> SNM might be they might be willing to do [23:00] that. >> Yeah. And I'm I'm assuming we could [23:06] » something really charging them something for being there [23:10] offset maybe cost a little bit. >> Yeah, I would. [23:15] » Yeah, I would like maybe 75 [23:20] » bucks or not super high. We do want to make them [23:25] » cuz we don't know how much they're going to make. We have to start advertising [23:28] this right away. I mean on Facebook or wherever free, you know, just out there. [23:33] » Yeah. >> Yeah. [23:35] » Did we start the time? 8:00 p.m. Is that what we were looking at? [23:38] » That's what we were looking at. >> Channel 4 8 p.m. [23:42] » So, it's a little over a month away so we can get our heads together. I can [23:49] work with you on getting that together. I have a I started working on a flyer um [23:56] and just putting it on social media and stuff and we'll get people [24:00] » it'll >> you might just do a little save the date [24:03] and then >> go from there. [24:06] » All right. So any um other things on [clears throat] [24:13] community outreach? Um >> also on that I've already talked to the [24:19] fire department >> and they are going to be bringing the um [24:23] the equipment down and they've got that all taken care of. So they're they said [24:27] that they would set that up for us >> for the movie. Yeah. [24:30] » They're going to do the [clears throat] >> the screen and the projector. [24:35] » Yeah. And they're such great team. great job [24:38] » on everything that we have. Um, so Linda was interested in doing a holiday popup. [24:46] Can we do that? Anybody know? >> Holiday as in Christmas holiday [24:52] » around November, end of November maybe. [24:57] » Have we had any experience with that? >> Like a popup [25:02] » like they do over in May Bank on Main Street? [25:04] » Oh, like vendors and stuff. Have you ever thought about doing [25:10] markets? Little markets, >> just a small market. [25:13] » Yeah, I mean it it's just it would be kind of like what we do for [25:20] National Night Out and how we set up the pavilion um with the vendors on the [25:25] outside and then a couple in the middle. Um and then getting people in their [25:29] spots and making sure all that stuff is there. And [25:32] » would it have to be there? >> Yeah, [25:34] » it would have to be in the pavilion. It wouldn't have to be at the pavilion. If [25:38] you want to do it at if you want to do it at the community center, if we want [25:42] to do it at the pavilion or somewhere at the park, wherever. Um I mean, but [25:47] » Well, would it be okay if we explored it and then [25:52] talked about it next meeting? [25:57] » I'm fine with that. I [laughter] >> Well, we have national night out October [26:01] 6. When? >> October 6th. [26:04] » October 6th. uh [26:06] » around the 1st of December. >> Well, then we have our parade that we're [26:11] » we've got a parade. We've got a list of things. [laughter] [26:15] » November Sunday is the really big deal market where they're doing the deal with [26:19] the the festival that's in May Bank. But >> I hate to compete. I mean, [26:26] » yeah, >> cuz man, do you remember when they were [26:28] doing that the vendor the market right there at Brooming Suns and then big [26:33] market started in May and all those people that had there wasn't a lot, but [26:36] man, they just eventually couldn't compete cuz we had a setup going really [26:41] good. But it's definitely something worth looking into. But [26:46] if if that's something [26:51] that you guys are interested into, maybe I might suggest helping with the [26:57] afterparty of the Christmas parade at the community center. Um that's more of [27:03] an area that um [27:08] » Well, if you do it in the community center, nobody had to have their [27:12] canopies. You're all you doing something you talking about cuz she's talking [27:15] about after the parade. >> Yeah, we always do an after party after [27:18] the Christmas parade. Um and that normally is where we have the least [27:23] amount of volunteers and stuff that are accumulated. Um, and that would be [27:28] something that you guys cuz like we we did like an arts and crafts and we did [27:33] um we had the little blow up balloon that people could go in and then there [27:37] was music and Santa and we had hot chocolate and [27:41] » so you would like us to volunteer for that. [27:44] » That would be great. >> Yeah. [laughter] [27:46] » I just think that if you guys want to do something in that spirit of holiday [27:50] Christmas, maybe that would be a good place. [27:52] » Why don't we go ahead and put it for now? So we still be doing the float [27:57] also. So we're >> What time is this? When is this after? [28:01] It's the first >> weekend in December. [28:04] » December. December uh >> It's December 6th or December 7th. It's [28:10] the first Saturday in December. >> December 6th. And so when when's the [28:15] party on 607? >> It's 5th. [28:18] » Right after the party. Right after. Okay. [28:20] » Yeah. [snorts] [clears throat] [28:22] » Yep. We can do that. >> Yeah. and just having kids, you know, [28:26] just doing arts and crafts. >> I was just asking her because we usually [28:30] decorate a float, throw out candy, and she's saying it probably be one or the [28:34] other. >> Oh, one or the other. [28:36] » If you guys want to do both, I'm not going to stop you. [laughter] [28:39] » I'm just saying if we're doing the the float, we can't do any setup, right? [28:43] » You know, we won't be we'd only be able to ride in and go, [28:46] » right? [laughter] >> Not watching. [28:49] » We're not going to throw Kane down. >> Never mind. Sounds like we can do both. [28:54] [laughter] >> We can do both if we want to. Um you [28:59] guys cuz like we >> signed up for both. I love throwing that [29:02] candy. >> We had everything set up before we got [29:05] there. And my staff, the two staff that work in the community center, they're [29:10] there ready for everybody to come inside. And then whenever [29:13] » we could just get off and go take our places because we we got there in a [29:20] » timely fashion before anybody else. >> You guys are right at the beginning of [29:25] » So I think we could do both. >> But um but yeah, that would be more [29:32] » I mean you need to rely on us because we're a built-in set of volunteers that [29:38] love the park and community center. So, what do you guys think? [29:45] » Yeah, for sure. >> I don't want to throw candy out. [29:48] » Okay. >> Yeah. [29:50] » We don't have to vote on anything like that, do we? Okay. [laughter] All right. [29:53] Great. Okay. Um, and then I'm still working on maybe doing a stargazing for [30:03] after the first of the year. I haven't heard back from them. And then [30:08] that's about all I've got. So, um, we talked about a doggy parade and all, but [30:14] we got to get through all the holidays. So, this would be J, you know, January [30:19] on. So, [30:26] anything else, Linda? Anything? >> Yes, sir. Is that it? Okay, then let's [30:34] go ahead and move on to >> It was the market that I mentioned, but [30:37] I think about it, >> right? I think we need to put it on [30:40] pause, but >> maybe after first year, but I think it's [30:44] something to consider. Not every weekend like maybe [30:48] » Well, I don't know why we don't have one just right out here. Right here. [30:53] » Uhhuh. >> Maybe in the spring we can do that. [30:57] » But I said not every weekend would be nice. [31:03] » Events. >> All right. Um, Arbor Day. I've actually [31:07] learned something the last few days that has me scrambling, which which is [31:13] when you're looking to get tree seedlings to pass out in an event. Uh [31:20] here in this part of Texas, it's very difficult for them to be available on [31:24] November 7th. They're available after that. It's like we're working for for [31:29] the Arbor Day Foundation. The earliest they ship them is November 9th. Um, [31:34] other places you actually get the trees like in February or so. And I don't [31:38] think that that's uh necessarily written in stone. So, I'm I'm kind of But it all [31:45] has to do with when they're going to grow them, right? If you're getting a [31:47] seedling, that's a certain part of growing. They're just not expecting that [31:50] to be done in time for our event. So, I've I've reached out to a number of [31:55] places today to see whether we've got options for for getting getting some in [31:59] time for November 7th. Otherwise, we can figure something else out. um it just [32:04] may not be, you know, and handing out a couple hundred. Well, it it may be we [32:08] hand out a smaller number of big trees because big trees of course are [32:12] available year round, >> right? [32:14] » It's just those seedlings that it's it's a moment in time. [32:17] » Um but uh what I kind of wanted to ask you guys was was I was I was originally [32:24] imagining, you know, two to 300 of these seedlings. If we said 300 and we were [32:30] going to the Arbot Dave Foundation, that that comes in a little under 500 bucks. [32:36] I'm talking to him about the possibility because heck, I'll I'll go drive and [32:39] pick them up. You know, they don't have to ship them assuming they're in Texas [32:43] somewhere. Um, you know, maybe there'll be a way to get those in time. But I [32:48] guess one of the things I wanted to ask at this meeting because I think I [32:51] probably would need to figure this out soon is I don't know if it's a vote or [32:55] what, but can I have a budget for trees in case we need to try to use it here [33:00] pretty soon. Um, you know, I think I think at most it [33:07] would be like, you know, 500 bucks. Um, but it may be zero just maybe figure out [33:12] we got to do something else. But I don't I I was assuming that would be a vote. [33:16] So, I wanted to throw that out there to see if if that was okay. [33:19] » What do you think? 500. >> I think 500. We we Yeah. Yeah. That that [33:24] would allow me if the Arbor Day Foundation can do something to work with [33:28] us on a date, then I got to still figure out how to get you guys, you know, to [33:33] make to pay for it. But >> it it would if if we knew that y'all [33:38] approve the money. I think that's >> motion for up to 500. [33:43] » Yeah, >> up to 500. I'll make a motion for [33:46] Gilbert to have the access fund of $500 for the Arbor Day [33:53] Festival. >> Yes. [33:59] » I second it. >> Cool. [34:03] » Yes. >> Yes. [34:05] » Perfect. >> Um we're we're we're having a meeting. [34:09] You know, this is a a co- event with the the derby. We're going to be meeting [34:14] with him on Wednesday evening. Uh, and the um main thing that we want [34:21] to focus on right now with this timing is this is when we can start kind of [34:27] advertising it out on some of the Arct sites. They just opened those up really [34:31] kind of and we want to uh start working towards putting putting out the fuelers [34:39] to vendors, vendors and food trucks. Um, and that's going to be a a cooperative [34:44] thing because because we've got our system, they've got their system. We're [34:48] going to try to reach out to everybody. Um, [34:52] uh, I'm I I'm thinking, uh, you know, Courtney and I are kind of the this the [34:58] subcommittee. Uh, are you guys okay with us figuring out what we're going to [35:01] charge vendors and all that kind of stuff, or is that something we have to [35:04] bring through? Okay. >> We all have a good good idea. [35:08] » I saw a quorum of of not. [laughter] So, so if we if we come up with some of that [35:13] stuff, we're just going to move forward with uh reaching out to vendors from [35:16] from there. >> We have a pretty good idea. I mean, it's [35:19] always in the same range anyway. >> And and as a reminder, that money that's [35:23] going to come in is going to be split between the two of us. So, we'll we'll [35:27] get half of it. Half of it will go to the the derby and it'll be a nice [35:31] bargain for the vendors cuz they'll get to show up for two events worth of [35:34] people. But, >> how else can we help you? Uh, I think [35:40] that's it. Of course, if you know anybody that, you know, gives away [35:44] trees, [laughter] [35:48] » there's that tree farm right up off the 36. [35:51] » I want to be making some more of those those calls. [35:55] » All right. Anything else to add? Brooke, do you have something? [36:04] » All right. We're getting ready for uh >> National Night Out and the Halloween [36:12] event um that's coming up. And [36:16] » we're working on what? >> Getting ready for the National Night Out [36:19] and the Halloween event. Um we're meeting next week to talk about the [36:25] National Night Out and we're probably going to be changing it to the community [36:28] center since it's so hot. Um, and that's on uh so we're working on that plan. [36:35] » That's October the 2nd. >> 6th. [36:39] » 6th. >> Okay. [clears throat] My note there. 6. [36:44] Okay. >> What kind of day of the week is that? [36:48] » It's a Tuesday night. >> Tuesday. [36:50] » And we're going to move it back to 5 to 8 instead of 4 to 7. [36:56] » Much better. >> Yeah. [36:58] Um and then um and it's going to be we're um I'm [37:05] working on trying we're in the process. I still got to [37:10] meet with the chiefs and everything and they're going to uh meet with me, but [37:13] we're hoping to uh move it over to the community center and get everything. [37:20] still have the same idea, have vendors, not vendors, but um community partners [37:24] that um offer things to people who are services and such and then um HOAs and [37:31] POAS um having tables there as well. Um so if you guys can help me get people to [37:36] sign up for those things, that would >> Have you ever called Tanya Chapman? She [37:43] puts on that big bash and there were so many people that I'd never heard of [37:48] before that were >> really back to school stuff. [37:54] » I might have to reach out >> reach out to her. She's so wonderful to [37:58] to help. >> Yeah, I will do that. [38:02] » Um and then uh October 24th is the Halloween event. [38:09] » Okay. Um, [38:11] » and that's October. Okay. 24th. All right. [38:15] » And then we're going to, um, last year we got enough volunteers that [38:21] the staff did not have to build the sets for the haunted hay ride. Um, but then [38:27] it rained, so we didn't [laughter] get to have it. So, we didn't know how if [38:31] that we we didn't get to learn if that worked out as well as we hoped it would. [38:36] Um, so I'm hoping to try that again this year. See if we can still get the same [38:41] amount of we've been finding groups. So like the the roller derby girls did it [38:46] and different large groups. There was businesses that sponsored a spot and [38:50] different things. Um, so we're hoping to keep that plan again. [38:55] » And what would be our role in that? Um, last year I believe you guys helped with [39:02] the um trunk [39:05] » trunk or treat >> directing. [39:09] » Um, yes, just directing the crowd. [39:15] » All right. I remember what I did though. >> I know that rain messed us up for a [39:21] while. >> All right. Does anybody have anything [39:25] else they'd like to talk about with the subcommittees? [39:30] All right. >> Do I have a motion to adjurnn? [39:34] » A motion to adjurnn. >> Second. [39:38] » Thank you. [39:42] » Great. Thank you, Jan. Listen.
