[0:28] Are they bombing? where you were living here. [0:30] » I was in Washington state. So, no, but >> still [0:35] can never be too safe. [cough] >> We heard about it and so they just went [0:41] and grabbed a TV and plugged her in. >> That's when back when Philips TV [0:47] for three and a half years. >> Were you like the class where they like [0:49] wheel in the big box TV and plug it in and [0:52] » No, we had TVs like hanging. >> Yeah. Box. Yeah. Boxy. [0:59] » Is that what you did all day basically that day at school? [1:01] » No. Ping shut it off and made us take a quiz. [1:05] » Call them two guys living through. >> That's what we made. That's what we made [1:08] at ours. 25 27s 32s. >> Yeah, [1:12] » they were so heavy. >> That's the most Mr. Paint thing actually [1:15] ever. He probably was sitting at his desk like this like he wanted. [1:19] » We're going to get started tonight. Thank you for being here. We got a [1:22] special council meeting in regards to a buyer truck purchase. Pastor, can you do [1:26] a prayer for us since you are here with Pastor Steve? Thank you. We'll do a [1:30] prayer and then pledge. [clears throat] [1:33] » Let me pray. Lord, again, we just uh thank you for everything that you do. [1:36] And Lord, tonight I do pray for our first responders. I ask that you give [1:40] them protection. I ask that you give them wisdom and guidance. Lord, I let [1:43] ask you that you just light the path that they have. Lord, I pray for our [1:46] council and uh all the supporting uh actors, so to speak. Lord, continue to [1:50] give them strength and uh perseverance also. Lord, we just thank you. We praise [1:55] you in Jesus name. Amen. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the [2:01] United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation [2:06] under God, indivisible, liberty and justice for all. [2:13] » All right. Thank you. Thank you. Thanks, pastor. Uh, roll call. [2:18] » Here. >> Basset [2:19] » here. >> Valena [2:20] » here. >> Miller here. [2:22] » Conw. here. [clears throat] [2:25] » All right. Um, >> kind of put this in a a cap. Fire [2:30] department's been uh looking at proposals. We talked at last council [2:34] meeting. They went back had a meeting to look at uh the stuff that Mickey sent [2:39] in. Um then they had the conversations with [2:43] Mickey with a couple of the other um companies that were submitting bids. But [2:49] at this point in time, they're ready to make a decision, I believe. but they [2:53] wanted to have council present. Um this is a big big purchase for the fire [2:57] department every big purchase for the community. Um it's a truck bar after [3:01] many many years and uh they put a lot of effort and time into looking at what is [3:05] needed, what they want, all that thing. So at that point I will pass it on to [3:12] who's your spokesperson? You >> he's will be a spokesperson but I want [3:16] to personally say I want to thank y'all for taking time out to comment. I [3:21] realize this is a big purchase for the village, but the hope and the goal today [3:26] is to hopefully have everyone listen and hear uh our side of it and why we are [3:32] doing what we are wanting to do and here to answer all the questions that you [3:38] guys may have to help [clears throat] get to a decision so we could get this [3:42] truck moving forward in the process of getting built so we can meet the [3:47] deadlines of FEMA and that sort of thing. Um, so our ultimate goal today is [3:52] to try to [clears throat] have everyone listen. So then that way you guys have [3:57] an insight with going in and making a decision on which way we want to go. So [4:03] that's the that's the end goal. Uh Blake uh will now pack pass out a little bit [4:10] of literature and again all of us is here from the truck committee to answer [4:15] any questions that you guys may have. So thanks again. Thanks, Chief. [4:20] » All right. So, I emailed all of you the proposals from both Pierce and Suffin. I [4:25] just This is just some notes as far as advantages and disadvantages to both. [4:29] Um, no matter which truck it is, they're both going to be great trucks for the uh [4:34] for the village. They're just [4:40] prefer. Um, but they will both be great trucks. Um, [4:47] I'm sure Um, so [clears throat] we had uh both [4:54] quotes. I went through them uh Tuesday night line by line. Uh made a few tweaks [4:58] to them. Um some of them were to accommodate the requirements within the [5:04] grant. Um others were to make sure that both quotes were quoting the same things [5:09] as far as what equipment was in included, what options. There was a few [5:13] things that were missed on uh on either of the quotes. So, uh, so the two quotes [5:19] that I sent out, those are the updated, both of them are putting zero [5:23] [clears throat] down, um, full payment at at the delivery of [5:29] the trucks. Um, so I guess, like I said, I just wanted to get everybody together, [5:35] get you the information, uh, let you guys ask questions, uh, we can answer [5:39] the questions, um, and just go from there. The more time we spend making the [5:46] decision, the the more pressure we're going to put on to the manufacturer [5:49] because the end date is not changing no matter what. Because of the grant, they [5:54] have to deliver by September 29th of 2027. [6:03] » You say they have to deliver. If they don't, there's just a penalty. They pay [6:06] $100 a day. [clears throat] >> $100 a day penalty. Yes. So, if it's [6:09] December, it's 60 days past and they eat $6,000 on a $1.9 million purchase. [6:16] » Correct. >> We we lose $800 some,000 in grant money. [6:20] Correct. >> No. No. That would be that's part my [6:24] understanding is that is part of the uh that's what the penalty is. [6:29] » Okay. >> Okay. [clears throat] [6:31] » In order for them to miss it, they have to they can file for extensions and [6:34] things like that with the >> Just want to make sure we don't miss [6:36] that. That's what that penalty clause is. [6:42] » I just want to make sure that we're not risking our grant. [6:45] » Correct. >> Cuz $2 million project, if they lose [6:48] $6,000, big deal. I mean, [6:54] » like I said to you guys, um that my position, you know, you guys are leaders [7:00] in the fire service. Uh, I rely up to you to pick pick what [7:05] engine and truck you guys think is going to best suit your needs. Um, the only [7:09] question I had is I kept saying I want to make sure Mickey and you have good [7:13] communication to move the paperwork through his office, FEMA and the grant [7:18] money because it's, you know, we don't have it yet, right? [7:20] » Yeah. >> Yeah. But we talked [7:22] » and we need it. >> We talked with Mickey during our [7:24] meeting. Um, [clears throat] I've been in communication with him since. He has [7:28] seen both of these quotes. He's went through them. Um, [clears throat] [7:31] » did he see the revised ones up? >> Yes. Yes. Yep. He reviewed those [7:34] yesterday. >> All right. [7:35] » So, he he is the ones that I sent you guys or what he has. [7:39] » He did email Cheryl. I'm just going to be honest. He he said he had a couple [7:43] concerns. He doesn't say what. >> Said he found a couple things and for us [7:48] to call him >> if [7:50] » Okay, no problem. I can read it to you. I just said uh without creating an [7:55] issue, make sure I uh can be called to weigh in because I found a couple of [7:58] items of concern. So, I don't know which proposal that was. [8:01] » He didn't say. >> Yeah, it doesn't say. [8:03] » Yeah, he he had two questions on the Suffin proposal. Um, I got the [8:07] information answered his questions on that. Um, he did not have any feedback [8:11] on on anything else. >> And that was yesterday. [8:14] » That was yesterday. Yeah. >> Were his questions just to make sure [8:16] that they were apples to apples because I know that was kind of the biggest [8:19] concern with with the grant, right? That the grant states that we have to find um [8:24] comparable trucks. So, were that like were his questions around that? [8:28] » No. No. No, because the diagram >> was just about the the features. [8:32] » He had one question on the light bar uh facing forward. Um the diagram had two [8:38] diodes that were blanks and he said we should want to have those be full. So I [8:45] contacted Andy. He said yes, those will be full um LEDs. And the other thing he [8:50] had was he asked about a Q siren and [clears throat] it he just missed it in [8:54] the it was actually it was there. So, I showed him what line it was on. [8:58] And those are the only two >> questions or concerns that he [9:02] » One of the things that was reported back to us is that um the truck could [9:06] potentially be too long to maneuver on our roads. [9:08] » No. >> Did he ever bring that up with you? [9:11] » So, Eric [clears throat] asked the question. [9:12] » I'm just ask >> Eric asked the question to me um about [9:16] the length of our current truck that we have sitting over there compared to this [9:19] truck or either of these trucks. Right before I came over, I measured our [9:22] current truck. It is 45 ft 10 in long and the wheelbase is 246 in. [9:28] » Okay. >> On the on the sheet the the Excel sheet [9:30] I gave you, the Pierce is 41T 11 in overall length and the [9:36] wheelbase is 249 in um and the Sutman is 35T 3/4 in or sorry [9:45] 45 ft 3/4 inch long with a 243 in. So very comparable to what we currently [9:51] have and we can maneuver down any street. [9:54] » Thank you for doing that. [10:02] » Like I said, we're here for questions. Um you want to you want to throw out [10:05] what what truck you're referring to? >> Um we as a [clears throat] committee, we [10:12] would like to go with Dies. Um, like I said, there's advantages and [10:18] disadvantages to both manufacturers both trucks. Um, it's kind of why I laid them [10:22] out there for you. Um, there again, either one going to be a great truck for [10:27] the builder. It's going to last a long time. [10:30] But in looking at the way the truck is built, some options, some just the the [10:36] specifics between the two manufacturers, that's why um nosed it out for us. Uh, [10:41] one of the big things is the service after the sale. Um the manufacturer is [10:46] down by Columbus, two and a half, three hours away. Um they stock all the parts. [10:51] If we need anything, we can get it. We can literally jump in the car and go [10:54] pick it up, drive it back, and put it on the truck if we needed to. Um I know [10:59] that uh Pierce also has a service facility in [11:04] » Finley. >> Um [11:06] so they they also have road crew and people available to make repairs. Um, [11:12] but it's not the factory. So, I mean, but with the way you can UPS overnight [11:18] and everything, you can get parts pretty quick as long as they're on the shelf [11:21] somewhere. Um, [clears throat] so, but like I said, the that was one of our big [11:27] things was the fact that the factory is right there and [11:31] support locally. Um, Pearson built in Wisconsin, they have the same advantage [11:36] to the departments in their area. I have no problems with the suffin. I [11:42] was just as long as Mickey was. My biggest concern on that one was the [11:45] delivery because initially it said 18 to 23 months and we're already five six [11:49] months in. >> Yeah. [11:50] » And I was afraid of missing out on the grant. [11:52] » So what uh what suffin is doing um they're actually pulling a stock truck [11:56] that's already in their queue and replacing with our truck. Um so it's not [12:01] 18 to 22 or whatever months from when we signed the contract. They are actually [12:06] going to pull another truck and put ours in its place. Okay. [12:08] » Um, that's how that's how they're able to get the delivery that we need. [12:13] » As long as Mickey is open, I mean, talk to I'd like to call him and ask him. You [12:17] guys care? >> No, he he's he told me he's available. [12:20] If we [clears throat] did call him, he's he would be available. [12:25] [snorts] [12:29] Our two salesmen are the same way. They both said they would be available if we [12:32] needed questions for them as well. Why'd you be the wrong number? [13:09] You've reached the voicemail [13:17] only from my desk. [13:33] At the top, please record your message. When you finish recording, you may or [13:48] mayor Mike Bar here. We're in our meeting up here in uh Village Hall. Uh [13:52] we've got our fire committee and and council together. You had mentioned [13:56] something about calling you if you had a couple concerns. We'd like to maybe ask [14:00] you what those concerns were uh with the two proposals. So when you get a moment, [14:04] please give us a call um as soon as possible. Um you have my cell phone. We [14:09] will talk to you later. Thank you. [14:19] All right. Is that the number on the paper? How do you call that number? [14:28] » Is there any more questions you guys have regarding [14:35] » uh money? I mean, I said something to Cheryl like funding for this. I mean, [14:41] coming up with the additional money. Um we have to both contracts say we have to [14:45] have payment in full upon delivery. Right. [14:48] » Correct. >> So the peers that they're offering is a [14:51] couple months from now. >> So I had I had mentioned that would be a [14:55] concern to him u being that quick delivery. Um he said there are payment [15:01] options as well >> um that we could look at if we needed [15:05] to. Um there also may be an option of obviously he gave us his best delivery. [15:12] Uh it could be if we actually don't want it this year and we wanted to push [15:15] delivery back till early 27 um that would probably be an option as well. The [15:22] only other delivery I guess for the Pierce being soon is we're having some [15:26] issues with our current fire trucks. Will they will we be able to be okay [15:31] without borrowing until uh September of 27th? [15:37] » Call. Hang on. >> Hello. [15:41] Hang on, Mickey. Can you hear me, man? [15:46] [laughter] Um, so the issues we're having with 504 [15:51] [clears throat] are issues we have with 504. They still need repairs getting [15:55] replaced. >> It's still going to be our main bumper. [15:58] Um, so the issues that's kind of a different conversation as far [16:04] as that goes. Um but yes, this could and potentially would be the first out. [16:11] » Hey Mickey, Michael B here. Sorry, Mr. Call. How [16:14] » are you, sir? >> Good. You [16:16] » um you are on speaker phone. Uh we've got everybody in the room here. Um that [16:21] needs to be So like I said, we're just starting discussion on uh the two [16:27] different quotes. Um right now we're we're leaning towards the suffen. Did I [16:31] say that right? Yep. Um, you had mentioned maybe some concerns. I don't [16:35] know if it was with that contract or maybe the Pierce. So, uh, council wanted [16:40] to see what, uh, your thoughts were on that. [16:43] » Okay. So, I put the two of them side by side and here's what I came up with. [16:50] » So, there's a price difference of 16,444 as it sits, which is I know the best. [16:57] The biggest thing that got a hold of me was this. Um when I looked at the sub [17:03] the aerial had a I mean obviously vertical reach of 100 foot. The [17:07] horizontal reach was 90 foot 5 in. So the Pierce is a vertical of 107 foot [17:13] and a horizontal reach of 100 ft. Okay. Um the Sun has a 450 horsepower engine [17:22] and the Pierce is come it comes with a 510. [17:26] The minimum ground ladder requirements for an aerial is 115 ft which is what [17:32] Sutton has. The Pierce has 135 ft ground ladders [17:38] as part of the deal. So the only other thing in there is that [17:44] delivery for this is October of 2027 which I know can be moved back to [17:51] September. So that's not a big deal. and the delivery for the Peters is in August [17:56] of 26. So with those two in mind, that is the [18:02] only thing that I found as differences across the board. [18:14] » But either one of those trucks, if we picked either one of those, we have no [18:18] no concerns on not getting the grant. Say that again. [18:23] » Eric wanted to know both those proposals are a sound proposal to make sure that [18:28] we get the FEMA money, the grant money. >> No issues with that. [18:33] » Um when you and I'm just throwing this out [18:37] there, you fire guys talk distance and height and you know all that kind of [18:42] thing where you know council's coming from a different angle. you know, we're [18:47] looking at the cost and viability of the grant, which we were fortunate to have. [18:51] Um, but a small town, I mean, little bit of differences in the in the ladder, [18:56] length, height kind of thing is that to me is not a big factor, I guess, because [19:01] of the the area where we're at. >> So, the differences in the length of [19:05] reach and everything is due to the Pierce is a rear-mounted aerial, which [19:09] is why it's 107 foot compared to Suffin is a 100 foot midmount. Um, so the [19:15] suffin the base of the ladder is in the middle of the truck just like we [19:18] currently have, it can swing all the way around. So in order for a rear mount to [19:23] get the same reach out the front out front of the truck, they have to have [19:27] that's why they're longer. So as far as what we can reach forward or back, [19:33] obviously being a rear mount 107, they can reach further back, but over the [19:37] front um they're compile. >> Yeah, he's not wrong. [19:41] » Yeah, >> he's not wrong in that at all. Okay. [19:45] » Yeah, we weren't sure if you saw some major discrepancies with the quote, you [19:49] know, and and stuff like that. So, basically, it's just, you know, the [19:53] units and how they're set up and what they can do. Basically, a little bit [19:57] » Yeah, that's that's the only thing. >> Got [20:01] anybody else have any more questions for Mickey? [20:03] » Nope. >> Okay. Uh, any questions for us, Mickey? [20:07] » No, guys, I'm good. >> Okay. Well, we'll continue with our [20:10] meeting. If we come up with something else, we'll give you a call back. But if [20:13] not, then we'll uh have Cheryl or or Blake and the committee let you know [20:18] what we chose. >> Okay. And also, by the way, like I said, [20:21] like I told you before, do not sign any contracts until please. Y [20:24] » you already looked at >> Yeah. [20:26] » All right. >> All right. [20:28] » Have a good night. >> Yeah. Thank you. You take care. [20:30] » See you. >> Yeah. Bye. [20:33] » Yeah. [clears throat] >> It's kind of good that we caught all [20:35] those things. I wanted to double check it, you know, or have [20:39] » other lady look at them. >> Yeah, [20:41] » that's why that's why I sent them to him yesterday. [20:43] » They he viewed them before I sent them you guys. I waited to send them to you [20:46] guys. after he get them and locate them. [20:53] All right. So, back I'm just asking financial I [20:58] mean do we want share what your thoughts on [21:02] sooner or later does it is it an impact [snorts] [21:11] » no [21:15] » it doesn't matter. Huh? No. [laughter] [21:21] » I can I ask another question about um the trucks? So once we get this truck, [21:27] the we those other two trucks, the ladder truck and the 1980s truck, we can [21:31] no longer use. >> They will be sold, [21:34] » right? But my question is if we have one in the shop, can the Quint do it all? [21:39] » Yes. Yes, >> it can. It can do everything. Does you [21:42] normally have two though? Like you would normally have one and then a backup. So [21:45] that's the difference between a quint and an aerial. Um [clears throat] so the [21:48] quint has more water on it. Has all the basically it's it's has everything that [21:56] an engine or a pumper or main pumper would have. It's got a 2,000gallon per [22:00] minute pump on it. It's got uh the suffin has 600 gallons of water on it. [22:04] It's got foam capability. >> Um so basically it will do everything [22:09] that the pump will do, but also has a ladder. I know it's kind of a army Swiss [22:14] knife of trucks. I just my fear is is that it the second that truck arrives, [22:18] those two have to be taken out of um commission. So I just didn't want us to [22:22] be stuck with one truck when you guys are normally used to working out of two. [22:25] That would be my only fear. >> Yeah. A queen is considered a combo [22:28] truck. >> So engine generally in real world does [22:31] one job. A lot of truck does a different job. [22:35] » So you put the both together, >> which is why it's called a quint because [22:38] you have five options. >> Yep. It does a job of both aerial [22:43] ladder, both a ladder truck and an engine together [22:46] » at the same time. They do at the same time. Perfect. [22:48] » You could do it could do the same thing. >> Okay. All right. I just that was just my [22:51] fear for you guys. >> Yeah. If we're using that as our uh [22:54] first line engine out the door. Um when we get to the se to the the fire or [23:00] whatever, it's going to be used as an engine. As soon as we get on scene, [23:03] we're not raising a ladder and doing any kind of ladder operations. We're there. [23:07] We're pulling hand lines. We're making entry. um we're getting hooked to a [23:10] hydrant. We're once we get things established and um you know, we're [23:16] search and we get to the point where we're venting a roof or um maybe we're [23:20] doing a uh a rescue from a second story window or something of that nature, [23:24] that's when we will put the aerial into use. [23:26] » Um so it's not going to be like you see on TV get they get there and they [23:30] immediately put their put their ladder up in the air and start flowing water [23:33] and that's that's not the case. We would use it as it would be an engine first. [23:39] and then it would go as an aero unit. Now, on the flip side, if we have if [23:43] we're not using it as our initial engine out the door, our primary engines, the [23:47] 504 would do that, this would be second or third truck in and it would be [23:52] potentially up in the air right away just depending on the situation. [23:56] » Um, other question, um, Mickey mentioned about making sure people were licensed. [24:01] » So, we already do all that. Um, so the the four uh ISC requirements, the 100, [24:07] 200, 700, and 800. Okay. >> All done before we go to fire one. [24:10] » Okay. >> Um DOT physical as well. [24:13] » Okay. >> Because we have we have to have the DOT [24:16] physical for our tanker. >> Perfect. I just don't want to bring in [24:17] the truck that no one can run. >> Yep. That is also same question. [24:21] » Yeah. Did you Okay. Yeah. Thank you. >> We already knew that. [24:23] » And that is an all-in price. I mean it's you're not going to Are you going to Is [24:28] it fully I guess all your hoses, everything you need? [24:30] » Yep. That's one of the >> radios. Yep. Uh the radios will come out [24:34] of these trucks. >> That's why I wonder if we're going to be [24:35] able to take some equipment from the old >> Yep. Um, we didn't get any new packs, so [24:38] the packs will come off the old trucks and go into this one. Um, some a lot of [24:42] the hand tools will come out of the old trucks and go into this one. We do have [24:47] $20,000 in uh tool allowance built into it um for some certain [clears throat] [24:53] tools, hand tools that we need that are we don't we either we don't have them [24:58] currently or uh we need additional um >> sorry harnesses. Um yeah, harnesses, [25:05] that thing, those kind of things that [clears throat] um that's why we have [25:08] that $20,000 into that for those um specific things there. But all the [25:13] ladders, all the hose, um that'll all come on the truck. That's actually one [25:17] of the things that Pierce I had Pierce add into their quote because they did [25:20] not have the hose in. Um so they added uh 700 foot of 5 in, 250 foot of inch [25:27] and 3/4, and like 200 feet of two and a half. Um that was all already in the [25:32] court. You said we'd sell the other two. [25:36] » I mean, are we talking >> 100,000 for both? Maybe not that much. [25:42] » They can't be sold as fire trucks. >> They can't. So, part of the grant part [25:46] of the FEMA requirements is they cannot go into fire service for they have to be [25:51] removed from the fire service. There are some loopholes. They can get them back [25:54] in. Um, but in order to get it reertified after that point, they would [25:58] have to be up to the current requirements, which nobody's going to [26:02] spell. >> So, they're parade vehicles from that [26:04] point on. >> They're going to be parade vehicles. [26:05] » I've seen them down to >> I've seen them before. [26:08] » They've talked about third. Yeah. >> Some will have the name on the front. [26:13] Yeah. >> But like the the ladder truck that quite [26:17] possibly would go to like a tree service. I've seen several tree people [26:20] that um have used old fire trucks as their aerial for doing tree services, [26:25] things like that. >> Use them. [26:27] » Now, Vicki did say that the ladder is the one that has to be completely out of [26:34] fire. That's the >> That's how we understand. [26:36] » He did say the 50 uh 503 that pumper can be sold as a fire [26:43] truck. So, >> that's how I understood it. [26:44] » So, that's that's what Mickey told me. So that money which I would imagine [26:50] might be 30 to $40,000 if that. So >> what are you going to do with the truck [26:58] that's out there? Did you find out what it needs? [27:01] » They are the 504 is out there being assessed now. Um basically there was a [27:07] diode in the engine engine harness that burnt. um doing in the diagnostics from [27:15] what they told me when that diode burns it is a uh ignition or the engine [27:21] control module and the ignition something with or not the injector pulse [27:26] controller or something like that. They got a new control module on order. Uh [27:31] they were programming it up in Fort Wayne I believe this morning when I [27:34] talked to them. Um, so when they get that once the program, they'll get that [27:38] put in and they were still working on getting the other part. So they're [27:42] hopeful though. >> So it might be feasible to fix it. [27:45] » Oh, absolutely. >> It's a it's a lot better lot different [27:48] fix than a motor. >> Yeah. Yeah. [27:50] » So when you said that, >> so we're looking probably in the $6,000 [27:53] range. If if those two fix it and parts, well, obviously labor on top of that, [27:58] » then you can use it till you get absolutely needed. [28:01] » Yeah. since Fish brought it up and it's got [28:04] absolutely nothing to do with buying a new one. What's the timeline for getting [28:07] rid of 504 then? >> Just so council's kind of got an idea. [28:13] What are we looking at? >> Anytime [28:17] in the fire service trucks are 20-year trucks. That truck's 203. [28:25] » So now you promised us 30 years with the Quinn. Oh yeah. [28:30] » Well, >> that is what you guys absolutely [28:34] [laughter] [28:37] » so I mean the only reason I brought it up so council can start planning on [28:42] buying another truck. >> We will need to start looking at [28:46] » a new frontline engine as well, >> right? And we've talked about that with [28:49] Cheryl with, you know, ambulances and making sure that that we're on a [28:53] rotation so that they're not surprise. And I actually asked Cheryl, I said, "Do [28:57] we have like where we put money away every year to buy a firetruck?" She [29:01] said, "No, we don't. We should, but we don't. There's never money to do that [29:04] with." >> They have written it in as [29:06] contingencies, and unfortunately, the budget never allows. [29:08] » Exactly. And that's just the way it is. The money is not there in order to do [29:12] that. Ideally, >> we need to prioritize. [29:15] » We would plan on, you know, >> Yeah. [29:17] » 20 every 20 years if you you planned on replacing them because that's their life [29:22] cycle. >> Yeah. Um, but obviously we are exceeding [29:25] our life cycle. We've proven that most of our trucks over there are exceeding [29:29] that. So >> we still got the yellow one. [29:31] » No, that that one's been gone for a while [29:36] » now. [clears throat] >> So ultimately, you know, we want to get [29:40] this plant all all done, but there are options to get used pumpers to buy us [29:47] some more time for a lot less cost. So, I mean, there's options out there. You [29:52] know, if we want to get off of this rotation where, you know, the quint was [29:57] just a large expense and we want to not spend so much money, there are other [30:00] options out there. So, I mean, uh, definitely a lot more options to save [30:05] some money at this point, you know. So, >> a new pumper right now is about a [30:09] million dollars. >> Yeah, they're one oneish for for a new [30:13] bumper. Um, but there again, if we we go used, there's [30:18] obviously you'll save money buying something used, 10 years old, something [30:22] like that off of a a mid to larger department. Um, [30:27] they still have life left in them at that point. You can't use any grant [30:30] money toward that. So, that would not be an option. It would be a straight [30:33] purchase for the village um if we were to do that. So, um there's several [30:38] different options um as far as an engine um as far as our main bumper. Um but [30:46] there's a chance that we fix 504 and we don't have any more issues with it for [30:52] extended period of time either or we get it back and 6 months later we have [30:56] another issue. >> Each year in 504 each year has had one [31:00] major incident over the last three or four years. [31:03] » So last year we put like to $9,000 into it. [31:09] » Then now we're back to >> that was for uh head gasket with blue. [31:14] » So like there was an engine issue. Now something else is going on in the engine [31:18] area which is several more thousand. My concern was just that the building is [31:25] just going to get tired of putting money into an engine that just keeps on [31:30] » falling apart or not being reliable. >> And that's my only concern. No matter [31:34] what, we have to keep fixing it. But at some point, we have to decide we're done [31:38] putting money into it and go a different route. [31:41] » And that's part of the reason we're getting the new Quint is because we're [31:44] getting rid of two trucks. So now you don't have maintenance on either those [31:47] two trucks. You have a brand new truck that's going to last you a lot longer. [31:50] And like he said 20 years and you're like, "Oh, you promised us 30." This [31:54] truck, it I think this stainless steel body's a stainless steel body. [32:00] » Stainless steel body. So nothing's going to rust there. Um, the ladder itself is [32:05] not welded like a lot of them are. And as a welder, I can test back those. Uh, [32:09] they're not welded. So, there's no no welds that ever crack on the uh, suffin. [32:13] They are all huff bolded, which is nice because bolts have shear strength that's [32:18] a lot higher than most welds. So, the whole ladder there is huff bolded. You [32:22] never have to worry about weld cracking or getting welds rewelded if it did [32:25] crack. So, you don't have problem there. [clears throat] Stresses weld, whatever [32:29] cracks it. Um, but all in all, I that >> the aerial does have a 30-year warranty [32:37] on it. Um, the the whole truck as a whole as a big [32:43] truck from Canish, that whole truck is all standard parts. So, it should be any [32:48] parts that most truck manufacturers will have on shelf, but most parts we call [32:53] over to Bokeis and Butler. not um >> butler or over to um New Haven and they [33:02] should have most any part for it so that's never a problem and then if [33:05] anything ever does happen right down to Columbus 2 hours [33:11] » and they also have a road crew that will come to you as well [33:16] which is I guess nice convenient and they overnight parts to you straight [33:22] here hop on the know that there's something major that will put your app [33:28] out of service. They guarantee a certain timeline to get to you to get it back in [33:34] service. So, those are kind of the comforting things that [33:39] we took into a fact in picking who we picked. [33:46] » Yeah, I do that too. They have a team that comes in. So, I win. If [33:50] [clears throat] we go with Suffin when they come in here, Suffin has a whole [33:54] that will come with them and tell you everything that you do and don't want to [33:59] know about the truck, the ins and outs. They hold trainings about the truck. [34:04] Whether you go there or come here, they conduct classes, trainings on everything [34:09] about the truck that you bought. It's a whole big inservice and class about it. [34:14] » Is that part of the package as well? [34:18] It's both. >> So, with the package is a three-day [34:21] training where they'll come here, they'll train us, train the department [34:25] on um doing in different different times of the day so we can catch everybody on [34:29] different shifts. Um but they do have additional training that we can go to uh [34:34] or have them come do. Um, I know when we went down there, they were setting up [34:38] for a uh basically like a mainten a PM class that um go in and basically go [34:46] through their training as far as everything how it all needs PM mostly [34:50] like Mor departments that are doing all that for when they have on staff the [34:54] mechanics that are doing all that stuff. So, um, but they do have multiple [34:57] different trainings that are available that we can go to. [35:00] » I'm assuming all of them do, don't they? I'm not going to say it's [35:03] [clears throat] like no different than anyone. I mean that kind of money [35:06] » they all offer that. >> Yeah. [35:12] » Well, I know that when this first started and we had these conversations [35:14] with Mickey and he said, you know, 1.1 mil and when the numbers first came back [35:18] as 1.8, um, obviously we were a bit shocked. I really want to thank you guys [35:22] for doing your due diligence, going out there, getting these sideby-side quotes, [35:26] and also educating us because I don't know what you do. You guys know what you [35:30] do. You guys know what you need. I just know financially what that looks for the [35:33] village. and being able to compromise like you said is really important for [35:35] me. So I mean I do support your guys's option here. Um like Nikki said there it [35:41] really wasn't that much difference in the end. [35:44] » I would like to have Mickey look over of course one last time but I would make a [35:48] motion for the sub. >> I second that. [35:54] » Good. Roll call. >> Sedak. [35:56] » Yes. >> Hegley. [35:58] » Yes. >> Basset. [35:59] » Yes. >> Gwick. [36:00] » Yes. >> Miller. [36:01] » Yes. >> Lena. Yes. [36:04] [cough] >> Very good. But with that, um, send it to [36:08] Mickey one more time, I guess, tonight since he's already got it. [36:12] » I'll click send. That's fine. >> Uh, but we have to have a resolution, [36:16] right? >> Sign it. [36:19] » I know Seno extended their contract. >> They extended till the 15th of March. [36:24] » But we can't really we we can't sign the contract until the resolution's done. [36:29] That's the kicker. Is he going to We could have it probably here by what the [36:33] next meeting, >> but 16, [36:37] » right? If he's okay with the village motion tonight that he knows he's um [36:42] suff the contract, he's got to get the paperwork filer. [36:52] » We can we can call them now if you want. >> Up to you guys. [36:56] » No. [36:59] So, with that being said, is there anything else we got? Like I said, [37:03] » we can't talk anything. >> No, I'm not saying about anything and [37:06] not anything else. Again, thank you for your time and your due diligence and [37:10] putting the proposal together. I know we've had a lot of discussion. You guys [37:14] a lot of discussion. So, I think this is a a great meeting to finalize the the [37:18] plan. Um, and we'll keep moving forward. So, thank you very much for being here, [37:23] everybody. And >> thank you. [37:24] » Thank you, guys. We got a motion to adjourn in a second. [37:31] » Roll call. >> Yeah. [37:35] » Ske. >> Yes. [37:36] » Basset. >> Yes. [37:37] » Miller. >> Yes. [37:38] » Elena. >> Yes. [37:39] » Gwick. >> Yes. [37:40] » Eggley. >> Yes. [37:44] » I didn't said double minutes off. [37:51] Hey, there's a
