Liberty Tree planting in Houston County.

tree that the Sons of Liberty would
[9:32] gather under on the Boston, I believe
the Boston Common uh back before the
[9:36] Revolutionary War, the British uh used
that elm tree for firewood
[9:42] during the siege of Boston.
Um
[9:45] and uh
a descendant of that of that of that
[9:48] original Liberty Tree uh still exists in
Southern Gardens scenes road seedlings.
[9:54] And so, uh the elm tree that we have now
at Farm Center is a descendant of the
[9:58] original Liberty Tree. I thought that
was pretty pretty neat. So,

stand project Cottonwood

[12:49] Um this Cottonwood sports complex
project has not gone I think as smooth
[12:54] or as quickly as anybody would have
wanted. It's just a lot of people

uh have gotten in the way, but but uh we
[13:01] own this property now. It's in our name.
The school board, if you remember, at
[13:04] the meeting or a couple meetings ago
donated this property to the uh to the
[13:08] county. So, we own the property. Um so,
we have to approve everything.
[13:12] Everything has to be bid out according
to the public works law.
[13:17] Uh but we are
uh because this is a project for
[13:20] Cottonwood, uh you know, we're not
getting into choosing vendors
[13:25] necessarily or
uh we
[13:28] I think it would be the correct position
that for us to not have any opinion
[13:31] about what gets built. This is the
dealing with a lodging tax funds
[13:36] that we are really spending on on their
behalf. The way this project has kind of
[13:40] worked out. So,
Cottonwood has submitted a request of us
[13:44] for us to engage the architect Billy
Snell to do the design work for this for
[13:51] this project. After that is done, we
will have to bid that project out. So,
[13:56] that'll be an item we'll have to vote in
the future to to approve that bid that
[14:01] comes in our budget.
But, that's what this is.
[14:05] That's it. The town wants to use that
suit that the parent organization wants
[14:09] to use. So, it'd be my recommendation
that we approve this as requested by the
[14:12] town of Cotton.

like that it's been a process and this
[14:23] is just the next step to get everything

we did not on the boat landing project,
[15:00] but on the boat landing road repair. Um
so, you know, when you
[15:05] a lot of times when you're hauling dirt,
rocks, you just tear up the road. So, we
[15:09] got to go back and fix the road and
they wanted to help us out, help fund
[15:13] some of that some of that work. So, this
is $75,000 that we are receiving from
[15:17] Houston County Port Authority
for work that really has already been
[15:21] done. So,

Cox and Perdido
[15:53] along with um chief administrative
officer. But, he called me last week and
[15:57] we have an opportunity. You know, we not
bought we didn't buy dump trucks didn't
[16:01] didn't have that in the budget
uh this year. That market had changed.
[16:04] You know, for a little while we were
selling dump trucks for more money than
[16:09] it cost to buy new dump trucks. Um
the market is is not quite as strong as
[16:14] it used to be, but we did get contacted
from the firm uh requesting to buy our
[16:19] dump trucks. There is a guarantee the
price that we have to to to uh acquire
[16:25] the new the new dump trucks.
The difference between the price we
[16:28] could sell it and the price that we
would purchase new dump trucks would be
[16:32] I want to say about $90,000.
Um yes. I think it's about $90,000.

but they're not asking for any
[16:40] additional funds from the general fund.
They're going to utilize some unused
[16:43] funds for that. But, if we can get rid
of you know, just call it 16 year and a
[16:49] half almost two year old dump trucks
and get 16 brand new dump trucks

to take that deal every day of the week.
