[1:05:00] We started that initiative
when we came on and formed
[1:05:05] this committee
that we just voted
[1:05:06] on to do an every-quarter
Business Spotlight Award.
[1:05:11] And it's a good way for
us to be able to interact
[1:05:14] with our businesses, and to get
them involved in our community,
[1:05:17] too.
[1:05:18] On August 13, I
attended an ad hoc
[1:05:21] meeting for an audit for the
Orange County Fire Authority.
[1:05:24] On August 20, I attended a full
day of OCFA chief interviews
[1:05:30] for our next chief.
[1:05:32] On August 20 also, I came
back and came to the police
[1:05:37] appreciation luncheon that--
[1:05:38] and a big thank you
to all our officers
[1:05:41] and everyone
involved, our staff.
[1:05:43] This is truly what
the beauty of our city
[1:05:46] is, is recognizing
all our leaders
[1:05:49] when we do it for our police and
also our professional staff too.
[1:05:53] So thank you to all
the police officers.

[1:05:58] And then a big thank you to
La Palma Community Foundation
[1:06:02] for helping to fund this.

work that they're doing.

helping us to host this.

day of Orange County Fire
[1:06:17] Authority chief interviews.
[1:06:19] On August 27, I had a meeting
with [? OCFAMA ?] group
[1:06:25] from the Orange
County Fire Authority.
[1:06:28] August 28, another thing that
we've been doing for now six
[1:06:33] years at Hope, and 20 years
that we've been doing this,
[1:06:37] we provided 325 pairs
of brand new shoes
[1:06:41] for Hope School for
autistic students.
[1:06:46] And we've been doing
this for six years now.
[1:06:48] And I can't thank enough the
Local 3631 for coming out
[1:06:53] and making hot dogs for them.
[1:06:56] We provided backpacks
and full of supplies.
[1:06:59] 31 pieces of supplies for them.
[1:07:03] And when you go
through this event,
[1:07:06] you realize that the
shoes that they're wearing
[1:07:09] were the shoes that
we gave last year.
[1:07:11] And their parents always
reach back out to us
[1:07:14] to tell us that we know that
you're going to give us shoes
[1:07:17] so we can take that
portion of that money
[1:07:20] and use it for other
things for these students.
[1:07:23] So this is six years.
[1:07:25] It was an event that my
daughter created, Kicks 4 Kids.
[1:07:29] And they have clubs on campus
at Oxford and at Kennedy.
[1:07:35] And both clubs came out with
about 15 volunteers from there.
[1:07:39] And then we had
community volunteers.
[1:07:41] And again, we had
the firefighters.
[1:07:42] I think the biggest thing
that these kids want to see
[1:07:44] is not us or the shoes.
[1:07:46] It's the firefighters.
[1:07:47] They get so excited
for the firefighters.
[1:07:50] And thank you very much for
coming out and supporting.
[1:07:54] And that's what our
community is about.
[1:07:56] It's all of us coming
together to be able to serve.
[1:08:00] A big shout out to
the Kennedy students.
[1:08:02] And our new staff, Sea Shelton,
assistant city manager,
