present to you the community financial

and also is to listen to ideas listen to
[0:17] comments and hopefully everyone can get
a better understanding of where we are
[0:23] right now and gravity in this situation
there will be another time at the end of
[0:31] the meeting for guests and public
comment so if you want to wait here
[0:34] that's fine and if you want to talk then
that's fine if you want to talk now

but we're asking that you please the
[0:42] state and stand please and state your
name and address that way we know you're
[0:46] in the district and because of respect
for others and the amount of people in
[0:51] the room we ask you to keep it between
three to five minutes that way everybody
[0:55] who has feels present some talents as
the opportunity to do so so as you can
[1:03] see there is only one action item on the
agenda tonight we'll be hearing with
[1:10] that as we continue on so with that we
will open up or guests in public comment
[1:17] also as well for any for respect of the
process and respect of any ideas that
[1:26] may come forth we will not be responding
to any
[1:31] with that Nouriel I also coach something
a third basketball my concern is getting
[1:39] more money into the school so what I'd
like to propose - we have a few coaches
[1:45] that our staff and I say continue paying
those people but for the volunteer
[1:50] coaches such as myself a couple others
that aren't staff you make that a
[1:54] voluntary position and you cut my pay I
wouldn't want to see pay to play for
[1:59] students because I know a lot of
students couldn't afford not if you can
[2:02] see that I'm alright I was down to eight
kids four seven seven eight very
[2:07] passable sorry I had eight on these
eighth grade and five on the subway you
[2:14] take away that I'm dumb three four kids
or pay to play so I say make voluntary
[2:20] positions as coaches that are not
standing so part of the entry staff
[2:25] people in are getting paid that's eight
to twelve people right there there's
[2:32] some extra money right there and then
also open the school on the summertime
[2:37] to have different courses because we
have the Cleo camp Cleo which is great
[2:44] but open it up senior high through
junior high I'd spend a little bit more
[2:49] but do a culinary or arts course and
charge the parents with that I pay
[2:55] daycare fifty five bucks a day per kid
I'd rather send my kid they were calling
[3:00] Eric's course for a day four we have a
lense on me because once I get to school
[3:04] once I get to college you move on to
apartment lot of kids only know how to
[3:08] do the laundry
they make peanut butter and jellies and
[3:10] that's it so make them culinary arts to
a small engines course do photography
[3:17] take advantage of resources that we have
area and it's time for the community to
[3:23] step up and offer those types of things
as well I'm at the beginning stages of
[3:30] winemaking and I'd love to teach courses
Cathy pen does a lot of fitness stuff so
[3:36] I think as a community and a larger
audience is greater to Tiger she could
[3:41] volunteer here time to do a class and
all the money that's brought in
[3:45] twenty-five thirty-five dollars per
person donated to the school my wife
[3:50] today
art class over in Bel Air shorts for one
[3:54] night for 35 bucks she said there was 20
to 30 people earning $1,000 a night in
[4:00] there I us-ally caring help save a
position or two it's my father try to
[4:09] figure out how I can increase my revenue
[4:13] now I'm not really smart on that leash
Margaret really when it comes to school
[4:17] hours and all the things that but I do
understand like I belong here in this
[4:24] room but you can make $50 a week and
spend $75 a week and make that work on
[4:30] budget I just know for me I just cannot
see as continually cutting staff there
[4:40] are teachers here out of the tenure
system use it and not in effect
[4:44] I don't want to see anybody but I
certainly don't want to see anybody lose
[4:50] their job especially when they already
cut some what's already already
[4:55] surrendered solution and so I think that
maybe I'm not offering a lot of ideas
[5:03] but I agree with everyone in the room
that's saying maybe just figure out how
[5:07] to get more money part of it is quite
cost but I think that's kind of easy
[5:15] that's the easy way you know that's kind
of an easy just absolutely just
[5:19] eliminate something out there there's
but my niece Megan King and but I also
[5:32] know that being out of school work
school isn't a business they're not able
[5:37] to just generate our that was the
business of you who are not doing
[5:42] they're really creative and sell
something cheap but that's not going to
[5:47] do it and our teachers our biggest asset
so I'm I just feel that this not I think
[5:56] it helps anything I think this is the
problem and that is not just a
[6:02] centralized problem
[6:06] teachers are under the spotlight and
[6:14] paying for education is not a popular
right now I think that Senator Leyva's
[6:25] and almost all schools are suffering
food I think the school works done their
[6:30] jobs we've done the best they have been
able to do firm position to make I can
[6:34] as someone that's spent a lot of time
with her as a student I just want to
[6:40] inform the people that are making that
decision how much she does for school
[6:45] she does so much for that much as well
in high school and goes above and beyond
[6:51] what she has to do she does many jobs
that she doesn't get paid for that I
[6:56] know many students have a few that if
she's not there anymore no one's going
[7:01] to take off all those jobs and we're
going to lose a bunch of the activities
[7:05] that we don't love so much and that help
our school and that help our students
[7:09] and also she not only does those jobs
but she goes out of her way to buy the
[7:15] students that are involved in those and
just make sure they're okay and make
[7:20] sure that if they need any helping is at
home so I just want to encourage all the
[7:25] decisions to be made to not only look at
the job that should be paid or also all
[7:33] and I've been listening to everything
and I only hear what we need to cut back
[7:40] on spending and I don't hear anything
about how we can increase income and
[7:45] something not wise I haven't heard
anything about today is something called
[7:50] pay to play I attended a different
school the same class as our school that
[7:58] did pay to play off their Iowa's in
volleyball basketball track everything
[8:06] from middle school to my freshman year
at the school and it was alleviating
[8:11] when I came here to be able to not have
to pay for it but I do think that with
[8:16] the amount of kids at our school that do
sports and do like all these other
[8:22] activities I do think that would be a
great start for like increasing our
[8:27] income instead of cutting back and so
[8:38] some information with you last week on
the things that I do in your district
[8:45] hopefully to make a difference with
students leadership opportunities
[8:55] guidance whatever whatever it might be
that came to mind after I left here
[9:05] again four years ago I was asked if I
would take the PE position and I said
[9:16] well whatever was best for the school
and so prairies are like a computer and
[9:23] library that's available with more
formal type not a teacher not computers
[9:32] teacher in the non only certified
teacher in science or in fact each other
[9:36] I created the curriculum for computers
based on the state standards because
[9:46] there was a long and that's what was
just shared with you program that I've
[9:51] put together are to make sure that our
students were getting a good education
[9:58] any opportunity aren't adorn the blue
stool that offered at which quite
[10:02] frankly I think pretty awesome that our
kids are functioning especially with I'm
[10:10] staff and so narrow it's having to take
tests on computer starting in third
[10:15] grade and state
have some access over to that and we
[10:24] talked about the evaluations and and
such and I am highly effective where I
[10:31] rank in the numbers again I want to go
back to the fact that I'm teaching
[10:37] something I wasn't certified to teach
but got my scores I've continually gone
[10:42] love teaching PE in computers and be
highly effective
