1
00:00:02,290 --> 00:00:20,350
Good morning, everyone. It is 7am, a quorumist present, and this meeting has been duly called and hosted in the time and manner required by law. So I'll call the October 13, 2022, public hearing and regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Lubbock Independent School District to order.

2
00:00:20,870 --> 00:00:30,050
We're going to begin by inviting Jeremy Winters, detectives and chaplain for the Lubbock Police Department. Detective Winters, thank you for being here and thank you for your service.

3
00:00:30,850 --> 00:00:35,450
Detective Winners is going to open the meeting with the prayer and lead the audience in the

4
00:00:35,450 --> 00:00:37,590
pledges to the American in Texas flags.

5
00:00:38,870 --> 00:00:44,510
The All-Valgetez with me, Father, we thank you for being present where we are.

6
00:00:44,770 --> 00:00:47,190
We thank you for the promises and hope in you.

7
00:00:47,610 --> 00:00:51,750
We pray for the members of this board as they work and the work that they do.

8
00:00:52,190 --> 00:00:57,630
Father, we come to you today asking for your guidance, your wisdom, support as we begin

9
00:00:57,630 --> 00:00:58,290
this meeting.

10
00:00:58,290 --> 00:01:04,670
Help them engage in meaningful discussion, allow them to grow closer as a group and nurture the bonds of the community.

11
00:01:05,370 --> 00:01:12,810
Give them insight and lead them with integrity that their decisions may reflect what is right and good.

12
00:01:12,850 --> 00:01:15,190
Father, we pray for the decisions made here.

13
00:01:15,410 --> 00:01:20,370
There are the best interests of the children and the district and the decisions will please you.

14
00:01:20,670 --> 00:01:26,910
Dear Lord, grant us humility and always and we ask that we always seek your will and what we do and what we say.

15
00:01:26,910 --> 00:01:30,830
in your name we pray. Amen. You'll join me with the pledges.

16
00:01:33,190 --> 00:01:37,990
A pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the

17
00:01:37,990 --> 00:01:45,390
Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, individual, the liberty and justice for all.

18
00:01:46,470 --> 00:01:51,890
And the Texas flag, honor the Texas flag. I pledge allegiance to the

19
00:01:52,750 --> 00:01:56,510
One state, undergone, run and indivisible.

20
00:02:03,100 --> 00:02:05,960
Detective, thank you so much for being here.

21
00:02:06,640 --> 00:02:11,280
I want to be mindful of the fact that one of the important things

22
00:02:11,280 --> 00:02:14,460
that you pray for was humility with this next remark,

23
00:02:15,680 --> 00:02:22,340
because as we read about the events south of here,

24
00:02:22,540 --> 00:02:27,640
the tragic events last May, I don't want to ever say it can't happen here,

25
00:02:27,640 --> 00:02:51,700
Right, because we pray that it never will, but I'd just instruct this morning about how thankful I am for the relationship that our district has with our city government and especially the LPD and you guys are a big part of helping us be prepared for stuff that we hope never happens and please pass that on to your colleagues how grateful we are for your department.

26
00:02:52,240 --> 00:02:54,640
Thank you.

27
00:02:55,920 --> 00:02:57,660
Let me wonder some fun stuff.
