[0:09] All right welcome everybody I will go ahead and call this regular meeting of the [0:13] maple run you 5 board directors to order at 6 [0:16] o 3 today it is 19 September 28th team were meeting at their field center school [0:22] and now here you are sure that. My child hears. [0:30] Al can you hear Jim. That he hear Jenny just start to meeting you can hear that. [0:37] You left all. Of it. Can we. [0:45] Are thinking OK I'll try to speak up out of the city. Where we have 10 directors [0:51] present and I want to electronically represent [0:54] a 9 votes 1st order on the system gender if you. Like to make [0:59] a couple changes to the agenda I would like to. [1:06] Delete I don't 80 under new business. I would like to move [1:13] $88.00 to $84.00 I would like to end the vice chair elections. [1:21] Are there any other changes to the agenda. Here you know look for [1:28] a motion to proceed you know there's a method so you can write [1:31] a 2nd Steve. Any discussion on that. Theory No no it isn't clear indicate [1:38] by saying I I'm opposed. The actions genders prove 90 yes everybody please [1:45] rise with what. I pledge allegiance to the right [1:52] I mean I say send me back into Republic or worse things why they should I run [1:59] into this alone with liberty and justice for all. [2:06] Right briefly starting for which is visitors recruiters who would like to drift [2:11] board. Brings us through [2:18] whose side presentation. It would. Say thank you for joining us here in the [2:24] library you might notice if you've been in this library before there is that [2:28] a few changes we took [2:30] a lot of barriers out changed up the furniture and we now have more flexible [2:34] working space so very excited about that that we're actually able to have our [2:38] school board meeting in here instead of in the gym where it was even harder to hear [2:42] it is here so I've got just [2:44] a quick presentation for you tonight and if you can take [2:48] a look I think the space bar should move us for great OK so you have my report in [2:54] front of you and I'm just going to give you [2:56] a couple of highlights of what you can see up there is that. Meat and bet Raymond [3:02] and Carrie Johnson and all it's just this one approach for 7 days this summer [3:09] had [3:09] a really good time together and I believe all of us would describe it as sort of [3:15] a life changing career changing conference it was one of those times when you [3:19] really get to think about what you're doing and why and it had an impact on us and [3:23] in ways that we're seeing [3:25] a little bit just every day one of the big things that we're doing this year is [3:29] we're trying to wish people well every day so that we get all of us in the morning [3:34] and we asked the children to read with us and sort of calm themselves and then we [3:40] take a moment. Just wish people who are missing from us well we said [3:43] a positive energy into the world and that's just [3:47] a nice moment for the children and what I noticed as we were releasing [3:49] a butterfly in the garden the other day with [3:53] a 2nd grade class and one of the his as they were walking away because we wish you [3:57] well out of life and want to do it solely I did not just little things like that [4:01] that just kind of speaks to what is conscious does one conscious discipline is [4:05] regulating ourselves as adults that we can help kids regulate themselves as well so [4:10] that was [4:11] a big part of our professional development this summer and then also throughout the [4:14] course of this year we are doing [4:16] a an online study that the 3 of us are leading with our faculty to help them [4:22] understand conscious discipline at [4:23] a deeper level so that's really neat and IMO we have [4:26] a lot of people attend next summer to go to the conference and then also we were [4:30] able to add through Title 4 Thank goodness [4:33] a school based behavior consultant through and C.S.S. [4:36] And basically what that is is someone who is going to help us with our positive [4:40] behavior supports throughout the building and who is helping to guide us in [4:44] tracking our attainable meaning at what our discipline data means and how we can [4:49] better as students who are coming to us with greater and greater needs at all times [4:53] so that is something really important to us and I think because 1st of all this [4:58] year. Next we've been some great facility updates beyond just the library we [5:03] actually replace 2 of the floors in our middle school they've been held together by [5:06] duct tape for several years because the glue never stuck so any time it would get [5:13] wet in there the former start bubbling up that still happens and one of the rooms [5:17] will fix that room next summer but you can see nice shiny floors there are very [5:20] very happy place and countertops that were coming apart long deferred maintenance [5:24] that just had not been cared for over the years we're finally taking care of some [5:29] of those things so we've painted ceilings in our middle school that are now quite [5:34] instead of brown water stained we have changed a closet into an office for [5:38] a school because behavior consultant that's him there Dan. And that's Kate my [5:42] behavior interventionists so they have [5:44] a new office space and then my main reception area was also redesigned for Brenda [5:50] because in security audit we knew was that it was not safe for Brenda to have her [5:55] body turned away from the door and to be at a low desk it is much safer at [6:01] a reception area to have an elevated desk and I have her facing forward so we [6:05] changed out all the furniture in there to make that happen we also have [6:08] a new visitor entry and logging system so any disturbance in the building signs [6:12] another computer gets there pass and no matter who you are anybody can be stopped [6:18] and taken back to the main office if they don't have [6:21] a visitor ID because this building has always been very open over the years and [6:26] that's [6:26] a nice community feel but what it doesn't allow is for me to know who's in the [6:30] building in the event of an emergency and also doesn't allow me to track the [6:34] contractors that are here and the system actually does [6:37] a quick little background check on them when they scan their driver's license so I [6:40] can tell if they are some kind of offender that I don't want to let into the [6:44] building and that's really impressive and it's all brand new so that's why facility [6:51] and then the next thing I have it is open house so we did something maybe not new [6:56] but something different that we had a long time we had [7:00] a piece of and for our OPEN HOUSE it's from Nova which is our organization and [7:06] basically [7:07] a lot of pizza dough and cheese and then we made all the piece of sauce from our [7:12] own gardens from the tomatoes that we grow from the herbs that we grow in our pizza [7:16] gardens and we created pizzas and gave everybody [7:19] a taste test for pizza right before they open house so we had people sort of [7:23] milling about we had a fire truck here and just [7:26] a and I sat was for people to say hello to each other they haven't in [7:29] a long time and then that was followed immediately by our open house which was [7:33] a success that was great and also. In this picture right here you can see the [7:40] farmer princes. All of Europe will sooner school soon Wades husband can wade who [7:45] came back to visit his soo works here is my library and 2 days [7:48] a week right now and 3 days [7:50] a week at City schools you've got to come back to the school where he was principal [7:53] in the 1941 was my 2nd boss your 2nd heart was also 0 and then the [8:00] better says it could go to 4 years while well on the piece of in on the pizza oven [8:05] that the bench to us were grown through [8:07] a $1000.00 grant that Caylee won last year at nationals and we put in our pizza [8:12] garden so the kids harvested that and then you left some of the funds Planned for [8:16] the no and the cheese and things like that. Since we saw I saw you last the kids [8:23] are busy but we took 7 students for fuel up to [8:27] a place 60 down to Gillette Stadium for and New England conference and then they [8:32] hand out Brandon when you met last time was selected as the Vermont State [8:37] Ambassador so she's very busy going all over doing different things I'm meeting [8:41] with different groups and she's going to be meeting with other schools that we're [8:45] trying to get involved with your on 60 minutes or so for [8:49] a really stupid here with this is our 3rd state ambassador and she was out of [8:57] over 100 applicants in the state of Vermont to get back on that we had 4 students [9:03] selected to go to nationals to receive full scholarships one still elected not to [9:09] go and one we raise half the funds and the parents paid the other half so that she [9:14] could attend on Roxanne got a scholarship to go as a P.A. [9:18] And I just paid my way because I wanted to go anyway. There were 225 kids in 100 [9:24] adults now and in Atlanta Georgia for 5 days it was an awesome experience the kids [9:29] went to by that Falcon stadium where everybody did all kinds of different workshops [9:35] with major speakers I mean coming in from all over the United States. Hannah has [9:42] been invited to [9:42] a Joe let game up next game. On the 20th she can't go next Sunday [9:49] she has many after all but she is going to be going to other things around noon but [9:55] representing her mom doing [9:56] a great job. And we're we're already active we did open house we have World School [10:03] Milk Day coming up next Wednesday we're inviting farmers from the community and to [10:08] do [10:08] a milk toast with us it's on we're this is our 1st time doing it but there are 40 countries [10:14] involved this year so it's going to be finding cool and Hannah having that out so [10:19] that's just [10:19] a quick update and we're working on our new on our new grammar which goes in [10:25] November so I'll get approval in place. On. Oh thank you all for your support [10:32] and [10:32] a wonderful year and so the quick question Harvester nurser happening this year that [10:37] is happening October 21st but they're working on the children Universal's for [10:42] that's here oh yes OK I've already Yes I self and that's that's ongoing few local [10:49] be giving us on it's for our kids [10:51] a card for many years to come sadly use if I have [10:54] a new volunteers for is the meat birds this year that I'm so worried about in [10:59] a frenzy journalists. I over here with this fire that is fire and forget just kills [11:05] you more times it will go right back thank you so thank you no question just want [11:10] to know that questions. At conference that was what it was like 6 15 [11:17] am and 11 o'clock every. Instant they were really moving. [11:24] Forward [11:24] a couple questions on your interest. Just so do you prepare the names. When they [11:31] come in or someone just anybody who comes in with their driver's license or so [11:35] Prince the name does in France name tag or in this universe of the camera which has [11:40] poor lighting right now the Senate. The camera sets [11:42] a picture of them and then when they leave they take the sticker off flash [11:46] underneath the same scanner and science and. So what it does is take your driver's [11:51] license and the barcode on the driver's license it pulls the name and date of birth [11:55] and if there is any flags then we get some denied and we can see the reason for the [12:01] flag on the other on it's off whole like F.B.I. [12:04] Background checks just kind of a quick and simple name and record match but it's [12:09] a level of security that we never have so you have the ability to put in there was [12:14] so little. I can I can have [12:17] a blacklist if I want to these are who reach them would want to get in the building [12:21] busy they have to tell somebody why they're so there's [12:24] a new entry system up at the front the outside doors open all during the day and [12:29] the inside door is now have walked so the drills on the inside kind of like it's [12:33] a 2nd City school which just makes sense so once they're in their front you can see [12:38] that they are on the screen and let them in she then catches them into her office [12:44] and that's where they have to sign it if anyone makes it past Brenda and she goes [12:48] off and chases and if she doesn't know who they are she's walking out of school [12:51] with just aggressive about so at this point we don't have all it doesn't open into [12:56] a lot of the sort of can be at least calls were just not designed for security back [13:01] in the day but it's [13:03] a whole lot safer because she sees who's coming out there and ceases walking and so [13:06] then they go in and right opposite her desk is the computer where they sign it so [13:11] they just kind of click that they're [13:12] a visitor who they want to visit without all of the bad as well and and then Brenda [13:18] or somebody else will escort them through the building to get where they. Are so [13:23] that walked in and I. Saw [13:26] a sign in front of him. So and it doesn't start until I close the doors so in the [13:33] morning after the bus is unloaded I do my announcements and at that point the end [13:37] of the ounce once I say if there are any parents left in the building you have to [13:40] report to the main office. Now to receive your this or that and because we do have [13:44] to you know because little ones getting dropped off still by their parents are [13:47] often classroom that ends about mid October and then we stop in the door and the [13:51] kids come in on their. Persons and license on. US I'M A So the [13:58] license is used in the case of vendors and contractors so we wouldn't necessarily [14:05] do [14:05] a license check on one of our parents and. We really don't want to because we're going [14:12] to take them to wherever they're meeting is and then we're going to make sure that [14:15] they're on their way out afterwards and we certainly don't want to stop [14:19] a parent from coming into the building. For any reason really. But for our vendors [14:25] and contractors that's where if they don't have [14:26] a photo ID you know they're not going to hear us but parents just take their name [14:31] and get them if you know you get exact and we can actually use the same system for [14:37] kids who come in tardy they can put their names in and it prints them [14:40] a tardy slip and gives us [14:41] a list of all the charges so we don't have to have those you know duplicate was for [14:46] Target because they don't have an attendance clerk. We're the ones. In [14:53] terms of interior if they're just like yeah so if we lock down the building [14:59] well the button that we push does not allow us that's [15:02] a lock that door is always locked or comes from so the lockdown comes in [15:06] a command through the P.A. [15:07] System and that means that they're supposed to lock themselves down lock the [15:11] classroom door hide all down the blinds turn out the lights that's how you lock [15:17] down the common school because the front door is always long nobody can get in [15:20] without it. And I just back up to you [15:27] talk about the grant from somewhere for an C.S.S. [15:31] Title for federal grant so they're going to they're going to go event by some [15:37] behavior they're going to help us with and to assess both they have eyes. Behavior [15:41] and they help us with the lives of. Children who might otherwise require much [15:48] more significant investments of time and energy they help us with so that we may [15:55] need to change procedures or also use some point you think if we're doing something [15:58] . They say they're going to do go see the other not all that's all the school [16:04] though OK yeah that's not I mean we wouldn't have any policies that could be [16:08] related to classroom discipline the policies that we have are things like you can't [16:13] take away recess as it's like that's the kind of level of policy at the procedural [16:18] level. I don't think it's a district we have [16:22] a whole lot we just kind of set our rules of the schools so you said look there's [16:27] a fire here. Yes I have you know I have one behavior interventionists was [16:34] hired by us and then I have at this school this behavior consultant who was hired [16:39] Renzi I said I also have 3 days a week school based clinician hired to run C.S.S. [16:44] Who's able to see [16:45] a case load of kids who require mental health counseling and then if we do have [16:50] several cap workers that's the community or collaborative achievement team through [16:56] and C.S.S. [16:57] And those are the folks who help us with kiddos who have extreme behaviors which is [17:04] sort of that next step before they might have to have [17:07] a placement out of district so the cat is an attempt to keep the kid industry. And [17:13] there are several of those. So we do get significant support from and which is an [17:19] amazing partnership with [17:20] a lot of people around the country I've never seen it before it is quite brilliant [17:25] . Else. [17:33] Because the security for the critic very very good in the only yes and the time I [17:39] can go right on line is my. Just how often I can click it tells me how many [17:43] visitors are in the building I can put on and they can see the whole list of [17:46] visitors including who they're visiting and how long they've been the building at [17:49] the end of the day to see if anyone still signed. So that we can just. Write the [17:55] end of the day we're not going to in meetings at the end of the day we're not [17:58] necessarily sending people in the schools out of the link We're just kind of [18:02] bringing them into our meetings and taking them out. Who need time to. [18:11] Not come back yet we've never had [18:13] a situation you know or somebody's trying to. Print and I know better about. [18:21] It She's one of us closely I don't think. I've had [18:26] a refusal. Of the drivers of. The young man here. [18:34] Let's say that we had skin and the idea of parent mistakenly. We fixed that. [18:41] But it was [18:42] a refusal so I did my. Part is that like. [18:50] That you know so you know the badges I print out and then we can program these [18:54] values as [18:55] a brand is just to work on our door magnets and so faculty don't need to use that [19:01] particular system that all but one faculty are trying to do is if they see somebody [19:04] that is not an employee and who's walking in the building they're asked to scoop [19:09] that person back so the main office even if we know that even if it's [19:13] a person who's here all the time and I did get myself a dirty look I'm [19:17] a parent who just did not want to be told that it was time design then you know [19:21] times are changing and we have to adapt to those changes just to take substitutes [19:28] generally have [19:29] a substitute Bash that we have here. With so they don't get screwed. Well you know [19:37] generally not be demanding to know our substances regularly you know everybody. It [19:41] was like one new guy that we didn't know that yet. Keep it up. Oh [19:48] THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. For your time Sixers which is the consent [19:55] agenda I mean the agenda is the approval of the minutes from 5 September in the [20:00] approval of the war from this day to city school for 2 golds and 3 students through [20:06] Washington D.C. [20:07] To present the leadership summit. Is there any reason to pull one of these out of [20:12] the consent agenda for this question or separate vote. And if there's no objections [20:19] these 2 items will be accepted into the consent agenda are there any. Objections to [20:24] these 2 items are accepted on the 7th hole business in the world that. [20:31] I didn't 8 Vice Chair election. I might send me an email this week that said he [20:38] would like to resign as vice chair. Of the board. Certainly welcome to do [20:45] that. So we need to question so I would open the floor for nominations for vice [20:50] chair or the. Time like the nominee on center. [20:58] Second. And the others. [21:06] Here in London I will close the nomination. Let's go in favor of electing you know [21:12] as vice chair to indicate by saying I I don't oppose extensions. To. [21:21] Things that you look over the. Next thing to. Write thank you. [21:29] It was going to. Be which is the capital. 80 which [21:36] is senior privileges. So we have someone to talk about seeing privileges tonight. [21:41] Yes that's right there again where we put the senior class president before you to [21:47] ask for senior privileges I would like is that you Mr Colby prove that. Folks who [21:54] are in [21:55] a good mood because I have the benefit we're going to take it easy on this one [21:59] thing if you can you can oh everybody come out here that magic would have [22:04] a very good camera. My name is Colby and I'm the senior costume council president I [22:10] believe as you know I'm here for class permission for seniors to go out every one's [22:16] time for [22:17] a little break from school through students tend to go to restaurants such as new [22:22] modes or eastern dragon to change for [22:25] a change of scenery and food in. Places as well [22:29] a lot of the hometown this is really right there was [22:33] a story I am aware of the contract the students have to sign and strongly agree [22:38] with the process of 1st the student then the parent and then the school minister or [22:44] so I on the contract so each student is held responsible for being back to class on [22:50] time students also have the ability to lose their per group with this if they [22:55] violate any part of. The seniors have really earned these privileges in mind or if [23:01] you asked me as we worked really hard all 3 years earlier be [23:05] a fit for example many of my senior classmates have been on sports teams where you [23:10] can come together to work towards [23:12] a championship as for myself I can say that I have been [23:16] a part of 2 championships in hockey and during the winter back to match my freshman [23:22] sophomore year it was one of the best experiences of my life if they also come [23:28] together as [23:28] a school during the walkout in response to the article for Issue school shootings [23:33] thank you for. Your question. Can be different from many of [23:40] the year. OK I'll make [23:43] a motion to firm start the discussion. In the 2nd. [23:51] Thing we did. The same thing we have every year. Yes it's Chris here [23:57] Christus No No worries that this is no changes since I knew he was here because he [24:03] didn't last a very. Tough. Rusher we were been told of [24:09] a class that earned it and deserve everything we can happen that. They really are [24:14] a good group we had [24:15] a very well. Thought productive session we had our last meeting [24:21] a couple weeks ago we had [24:22] a chance to chat will be it was peers and some of the students mistakenly assumed [24:28] it proved useful rights and we had to quickly correct that but it seems though that [24:33] they need to go through the process that that's part of the learning it's ready [24:36] a privilege and to compete with forged need to ask for that privilege and that you [24:41] need to maintain that privilege for [24:44] a proper kind. Of time to go. And mostly on [24:50] long days people do it yes there is enough time. [24:57] There we grab let's see who's there you know who would you it's really hard but on [25:02] if you keep the slaves here in the movies or some sums of money for [25:05] a change you know we have [25:07] a motion the 2nd the far. Great credit here now I'm sorry will speak up. [25:15] And your questions I just want to say that Colby put it very good says because. Of [25:21] his appreciation. For you I believe that most of your. 3 [25:28] questions I'll. Take that as [25:33] a no from him now that you're. All right let's go there's no more questions or [25:39] more should we have 2nd or was [25:41] a very very good by saying I'm right I suppose the residents. In this resolution [25:48] are [25:48] a very honest yes I think you have to be your friend to be hurried start doing things [25:53] like. OK [26:00] that brings a running mate see it which is [26:02] a face capital form request just. Hold your hand you have to stick with me but I [26:09] got I moved to revoke senior durable goods right. [26:16] Carol from request Michel Martin but that's just so their field is looking to do [26:22] projects that are. Actually working last use of capital research funds but [26:29] to get accurate figures for those projects we actually need to get [26:36] a engineer an architect services down in so we are requesting that the board [26:42] authorize the access of the capital reserve funds to pay for these $2.00 studies [26:48] for [26:48] a total of $12285.00 to $2.00 projects or were. Possibly [26:55] paving the parking area in additional classroom space. [27:05] It's going to roll out sure about. The. Have significant run off course [27:12] in our unpaved parts of our are not and every end up having [27:17] a lot of holes and did this throughout the course of the year or buses trying to [27:22] get through people are trying to walk on that when it's icy so having unpaved parts [27:28] of the lot has always been [27:29] a little bit dangerous so what we're looking at is the possibility of paving where [27:34] the buses are paving directly across from the school right where the cars park [27:39] adjacent to the hill that goes up to the play structure and then also over on the [27:44] south of the building there's [27:46] a large parking area over there those areas are difficult to ice in the winter and [27:52] are quite dangerous so in order to do those projects or even consider those [27:57] projects we need to do [27:59] a study on each drainage on the environmental factors on all the different bits and [28:04] pieces that would go into paving over currently on paper land you just can't do [28:07] that so that's part one part 2 of has to do with potentially not using the common [28:14] school any longer which of course is not 88 compliant nor is it. Nor is it [28:21] our building really so when things go wrong there's always the question of you know [28:26] who's going to pay is that the landlord or is it the $10.00 and we don't currently [28:29] pay rent down there but that may be changing we don't know so what we're looking at [28:33] is the possibility that adding an art room and [28:37] a music room they would be modular buildings similar in type They're not designed [28:43] to do the modular building that we added at City school last year and so we are [28:48] looking at potentially putting those buildings on the pad we're currently there as [28:54] a fire house what used to be the fire house for the town that is just all storage [28:59] right now the other possibility is just adding those 2 classrooms onto the back of [29:05] the 1964 wing at one of the sides of the gym that wing was. Originally built for [29:11] such an expansion so we're trying to figure out what's going to be the most cost [29:17] effective because we don't want a $1000000.00 project we don't want [29:20] a bond at all we want to be able to do this is an expensive way as possible but [29:24] still get the benefit of 20 to 30 years out of whatever we put up at the very least [29:29] so the engineer my original plan was just to look at the firehouse the engineer who [29:33] came out and looked at it said well let's take a look at [29:35] a couple of other spots where we might be able to work as well and so part of this [29:39] is [29:39] a feasibility study for where those passions like so this would be. And you know into [29:46] the building as well the portable correct or the possibility of doing the portable [29:52] classrooms up here rather than down there so it's kind of 3 parts you take into [29:58] account. The last heating time period hits. [30:06] If you're here. To get there you know so yeah it's just like the comments or I mean [30:12] that's what we've got to do for years which is [30:14] a huge loss of time and also you know not the best to have our little ones walking [30:20] close to a busy road with [30:21] a blind corner because sometimes they take off and those are the terrifying moments [30:26] so you know ideally if we went behind the gym on either side there they might go [30:33] outside the building instead of building an enclosed hallway but they go right back [30:37] into the building so it would be very very quick and easy and uncovered what if we [30:42] did it over here if we do it over there part of the parking lot will be adding [30:46] a sidewalk along around this part of the building down to the firehouse so that [30:51] they're not walking in the middle of the road because right now that's the only way [30:54] to get down there so yeah I mean last teaching time is what it is but you know cost [30:59] effectiveness you know we have to be wise stewards of the money the taxpayers given [31:04] us so you know if it is significantly less expensive to do it down there even [31:09] though we're still going to have. Some last teaching time in music in art we have [31:12] to consider that as an as an option. So I just don't want you to focus on the [31:19] monitor or build. The answer from the beginning let's let all the information come [31:24] in for [31:25] a number of other reasons security. Lasting longer closure. [31:33] And stick with mind why don't look like yes or mind wide open whatever he comes up [31:38] with because they are looking at the possibility of adding on over there too so you [31:42] know I feel like that's probably more expensive significantly but we'll know with [31:46] earliest I mean we'll see if so does this engineer have copies of [31:53] the 3 or 4 different incarnations of building projects of the last 12 years he has [31:59] not asked for those because some of those building projects will be much much [32:03] larger in scope so I don't know that that's necessarily useful to him but once we [32:07] get the approval to start the process then I do have all of those plans and I'll [32:12] hand him absolutely everything that we have or have done before but I ask is there [32:16] some foundation issues over where you're talking about the middle school and I [32:20] think he just read then he got it time might say some hours dollars by the hour I [32:25] don't know. As John Baxter of course. Had John's open to moving it over here he [32:32] thinks that's the purpose he has for [32:33] a long time yeah but if they're foundation issues then that's worth knowing [32:37] a lot. Yeah the big one. Yeah. I have all those [32:43] drawings and all the details from all those games as well. So that the study for [32:49] the. Throw for. The study for the classroom could be 3 different days. [32:58] Yeah and maybe that's because the environmental impacts educating project are such [33:04] that they were firing [33:05] a different level of study the present adding on to this building probably doesn't [33:09] have the same level of [33:09] a. Milind paving over and they've got that's fake we have to wait to watch for [33:16] training and what is the time frame that. We're hoping is that their opposition [33:23] to going forward in. This time [33:29] frankly but I would say it would probably be in time to possibly. Do something in [33:36] the spring. That would be awful I saw someone depending [33:43] on obviously what comes up the report you know depending on where minutes shirts [33:49] and what I'm just wondering how. Long it's going to do with them. That's really [33:55] what. Got us in this together or to be able to bring it back to you right you know [34:01] that. You know. Given that I thought it was something I think I thought [34:07] a great something Martha there were there was [34:09] a 17000 dollar number also I can't find the attachment. Was another [34:16] number of related to something like this so this is 12. 1000 companies [34:23] OK since $74.00. Thank you. And this approach to [34:30] them will see me in the light. Well and we will be awarded this we will get [34:36] specifics as to what the time frame will be. Pointing means for the study or for [34:41] the good of the state of the study so yeah yeah I. Do believe as we do it before [34:47] the 1st freeze is one of the parts he is to dig into all of the other paved areas [34:54] that could be us we should. Understand. We're going to survey Genesis it was [35:00] a terrible daughter but up until then yeah but they have had to dig in and they [35:04] have to figure out well where the sub base is they have to know what's going on [35:06] there before they get to campus or pave over anything physical cracker. You've [35:10] heard it all those other things OK. Well that's for the old I'm from my health so [35:15] it's just yeah so I'll make [35:17] a motion to observe this and the right side. And further discussion [35:25] and the question is good and consulting or just one company this is the company [35:30] this is recommended for this particular project that will leave cross consulting is [35:34] done quite a bit for us that we have [35:36] a relationship with then I did not go any further than that so it's just it is [35:40] there some kind of rule that says when you hit [35:42] a certain level you have to know all right now for engineering. [35:49] Since this is where you do not get those. Bills and this is what. We use and what [35:56] yes we discussed. These are going to figure out. [36:03] New push. Right we are motion we have 2nd all those in favor indicated by saying I [36:09] already. Proposed suggestions. They say which. [36:18] Resist I did not warn or approve or rushing to prove once in [36:23] a motion to approve the warrants. A drouth. We're not going to [36:30] change a date. In [36:33] a discussion 6 months or. No session and we're [36:40] now like Oh Dave really good by saying I write both sections. [36:47] And 0 words are proved. You're going to dress for. Your. [36:55] Good evening everybody I don't have much this time but the one thing I wanted to do [37:00] with Sean has offered. To help me with it is. We've talked a couple times [37:07] a bust. Our new phone system. It is true. But [37:13] like I said that's [37:14] a lot of. The book. I have recommended that you could do or said you could move [37:22] to the nicest prices right where you thought it was going to call home temporarily [37:26] for till then yeah right back. I would say it's probably [37:33] 95 percent there throughout this is the district we still give. Kids. [37:43] Sean if you could give them some ideas of [37:45] a few things. Absolutely these are neat little phones day what's really really [37:52] nice for I think our district is that when Joanne is calling me from central office [37:57] I can just see the Joanne's extension strain so we're all it's kind of like being [38:00] at the hospital and out of what building you're and you're all on one phone system [38:04] so I can go such little person dial someone's named Kevin T. [38:09] I R T age and it just have and of course Actually dollars friend I'm having but [38:14] that's [38:15] a different story and so it has boys they can let you know via e-mail that you have [38:20] a voicemail it is obviously the conference call could use [38:24] a little bit more volume but it's [38:27] a really nice system some of the administrators have [38:30] a tablet this is hash to it as well but there were some growing pains with that of [38:35] course as with anything you can just get old copper lines running our fire and all [38:39] these other security things so Martin the team has been working on that it's really [38:44] very nice upgrade for all over phones throughout the district so if you have [38:48] a call if you see it I can see it's him and run out of my office very quickly go [38:51] back and let nobody answers or go to anywhere that. Yes it's voice over IP So this [38:57] is internet phone so we're not using the old server telephone so with the Internet [39:02] upgrades What speed are you getting to those places D.S.L. [39:06] Or do we do they run fiber fibers. That's fiber Yeah dark fiber Yes Well [39:13] kind of fiber dark fiber I don't know if that connects us to it nor even address of [39:19] the school district so we actually have the same network as the rest of the school [39:23] district now is not completely separate OK So we have we have 5 or that's very good [39:29] very high speed we have good Internet in the building here and as most of the [39:33] buildings I believe. Still if there is no other phones is that here that people are [39:38] calling common school it's only that we're not paying record bills there are [39:44] several bills with one sole They got [39:46] a direct extension and we can have transferred all those right now do they still [39:50] have the old phones they are no our old phones have been reset collected and [39:54] recycled here in. Perth. These things. [40:04] And that's it for me pretty sure. Ministries report. [40:11] Done will be predicted I don't know where it is in your area. [40:20] Principal. Or the 1st 3. Things [40:27] we are just [40:28] a couple of announcements on. Next week is our spirit confirming we are excited [40:34] about that future doing [40:36] a lot of good planing for those events both the public support for doing so I hope [40:42] to see as many of you here that would be wonderful. If yesterday's faculty meeting [40:47] Jenny Harrison you have presented I mean people who are training that was very [40:53] important to Bernie and I did want to mention too that. We had [40:58] a moment of silence to one of our allies from. That great memory and [41:05] was very respectful opportunity for us for our kids so. I just think it's important [41:11] to make sure we. Know of [41:15] a human faces but I also want to see you in [41:19] a green and gold are. The same form is that I think this could be due [41:26] to our faculty at the beginning of the school year or so keeps you up to date on [41:32] most of the things including our new reorganization Streeter's. [41:40] Our professional development plan all the correspondence that. [41:47] Are there now for the structure of the world your research team some of the [41:51] principles of behavior measured that we tried to incorporate and and just it would [41:57] be very useful to you as we go forward to understand the big picture I don't see [42:03] that we've presented that we believe you're in trouble if you do come. I'm told [42:09] that there is the chair. Of the perfectly [42:16] happiness I. Think. And also the the power point that [42:23] you present at the beginning to look at some of those big items and some of the [42:27] themes so I do so so if you have [42:29] a chance to work through that and if you have any questions at all obviously people [42:34] are calling it live to respond to what the any of those items or anything else that [42:39] comes up as far as the effects so. You're just going to be if your [42:46] receiver is where it's their parents that you know to protect their students yes [42:52] thank you for get up to students who students would serve no use next week and. [42:58] Letters should be leaving the office tomorrow to all those your superiors and [43:04] guidance is in charge of our of the site that are going through the. When that [43:11] isn't that the children are going to be recognized in that regard on that we. [43:19] Are that has got those folks have not been chosen yet I know our goodbyes have been [43:23] working over the last several months to try to retrieve that is in place [43:27] nominations have been. MADE IN THOSE students know who they are then they've been [43:32] able to apply but no violence elections occurred here. [43:41] And we're going to you. Know Now that's if this is the last crisis and then [43:48] a great level for sure and I think the right wing's here now with you know if [43:55] they're doing informational I guess are you getting. Questions about how they [44:02] are 60 percent of people here. In the incoming class going [44:09] about proficiency since I think is yes we're really working. Or we've been working [44:14] toward and that to me is [44:16] a profound change relative to unknowingly grading and scoring but instruction. [44:24] As you probably know the proficiency is break up [44:26] a very important things for most students to be able to know and do this stuff [44:30] multiple things lumped into one greater number. So we present that beginning of the [44:36] year we're now entering year 3. And despite some bumps along the way [44:44] I think we've now if we're at [44:45] a point where. Proficiency sort of become part of the culture of our learning I [44:52] have gotten increasingly messaging to call us at the beginning of the year got [44:56] a really nice interview with them actually got [44:58] a call from. The National Network to enough T.V. [45:01] Network [45:02] a line of OK She asked me about proficiency test and specifically about her mind [45:08] and act so he. Severs proficiency is working how are. Personally 3 things working [45:16] so I think. We we're at [45:21] a place where it's becoming really part of [45:23] a work do we have that one more class in this year's class graduating class or not [45:27] proficiency is. If you could change in our. Software to. [45:34] Our learning and procedure for the speed differences are pretty unique A. Student [45:41] partner. Would probably some changes I would have made in retrospect but. [45:49] The directions always been clear I think now we're really level of understanding [45:54] there's always sound the research base was already there and. I think it's just [45:59] going to be here it's just all students or immerse proficiency but you can. Use [46:06] it against. The last class and we're doing great and then the next class is going [46:12] to find out how does that work I mean I know what's working on it or. How that's [46:19] going on playing to this yeah if you are going to be have [46:23] a session last year to get to that was probably the hardest offer you know to fish [46:29] not so much the change to try to identify with the Q. [46:33] Learning is but really with the overall impact would be here how would you act [46:37] towards no excuses for us to try to make sure that the. The traditional aspects of [46:44] school and scholastic recognition are in place some schools of goodwill with some [46:49] of the Republicans really would do to maintain that so. Of course particular that [46:55] is the college acceptance process we have refused others from multiple called to [47:00] speak with us and speak with their very. Widely group conversation [47:06] a lot of good questions were asked you probably have about 3040 people because I [47:10] wonder if there's ever a full order of this is [47:12] a big enough topic that maybe you want to make it an agenda item or certainly there [47:17] because I think this could be [47:18] a presentation in itself you were there I mean we are we're off the agenda for her [47:22] I'm sorry I just I just don't see it and realize she was aware of it I think it's [47:27] it's really good stuff and it's very interesting I think [47:29] a lot of people want to hear it on. So I think it I think it's appropriate and it's [47:34] justified to make it an agenda item on and turn it into [47:39] a board presentation yes I very much there are opportunities it's. Also one sure [47:45] wooden box to bring food for us to use for yesterday's would be an understatement [47:49] Yeah I think you deal with that and there was [47:52] a yes thank you I think with some of the multiple on these contributors to do all [47:58] staged around proficiency of culture getting used to it most in finding that. They [48:04] can be can determine through the. Proper kids and focus when she should be included [48:10] into that process that part of the process we haven't experienced. In the work with [48:16] other words in the make you think you know just [48:19] a really quick last question is it going to be an informational meeting for parents [48:23] in regards to Christian sees the way there was last year is there going to be one [48:28] this year doesn't plan. It's more OK. Thanks. [48:36] Are there anything you want to. Do that have these simple questions for me. [48:46] That. Don't. So tonight you have come to our federal [48:53] word so I thank you for that I also showed you there's 3 different jobs I'm [48:56] students how to apply to be able to go they had actually sent us an application. [49:02] Many of them did [49:03] a video application so they did almost like an audition to be able to be on stage [49:07] so we have selected the students who will go with us to D.C. [49:11] And then we found out that after we returned from D.C. [49:14] And we also had a live weapon Our that goes worldwide. And that's working with [49:19] a weapon our firm and it's another part of our work that we didn't know about it so [49:22] something new that they've added so we will have [49:25] a group doing the weapon are there to be different in the group that goes to D.C. [49:29] We also doubled the number of students from taking. Because we had kind of tech [49:33] savvy aboard Grant Marc is going to be so happy I'm going to actually use this one [49:38] and probably been there for about 8 years one of those and it was the one that Lucy [49:43] do every day and it got me [49:44] a long time ago. And so I talked to Lucy about what I wanted to use it for and she [49:49] was. All in favor of doing that so we're going to double the number of students [49:54] we're taking will be taking 6 students with us. And [49:58] a lot of the younger students applied so the 4th grade to 6th grade students were [50:03] the ones that were the most and even applications which is really kind of cool. And [50:09] so they all the students be finding out on Friday that who got which different [50:13] section and. So we're excited we're making it [50:17] a little bit bigger it's an amazing opportunity I want to go for one night and I [50:22] was told that I didn't understand the field where it really had to be tonight [50:26] because they had to go to the capital the next day and meet with the Senate and the [50:31] House and that that was part of it and that we were expected to tweet along the way [50:37] everything we were doing. OK And so we're going to tell you tonight we're going to [50:41] night and I think you have so out of where you basically go in for 2 nights and so [50:46] that's all pretty much going to be set up by them but we're going to hold [50:49] a number of people and. So as if that wasn't enough to play on. [50:56] The last week. We were asking for and that's to [51:03] be if they could look at our music room to see if it would be a good set for [51:08] a movie. And I thought nothing of intention on of you to look at our music or we [51:12] didn't think [51:13] a thing of it they absolutely fell in love with the building the movies about maple [51:17] sugar bring they fell in love with the maple mural they fell in love with the fact [51:21] that we have our own sugar house they love the music classrooms and so on October [51:27] 6th they will be shooting the elementary classroom scenes and saying open. City [51:32] school and 15 of our students will have an opportunity to be extras in this movie [51:37] those students are Edition in tomorrow. And some day after that will go back to [51:43] just to explain to him that they're going to what who's doing this movie is and if [51:48] and then there is a national studio. So there is [51:54] a link here with the marshals who put us in charge and touch with them OK. The name [52:00] of the movie is so many times it's one of their their target that they're going to [52:06] be selling it to so I'm assuming it's pretty much independent will be like [52:09] a hall mark movie Oh thank you an idea what it's like yeah well it's [52:13] a romantic comedy but it's really more on the Hallmark lifetime type of steam room [52:20] to really buy into Vermont women you know the directors from. The director is from [52:26] Milton Well I hope he's the director and he's the staging set up person but he's [52:32] from Milton and they were looking for a place to do [52:35] a movie around me and they were looking in Waitsfield and listen Mark said why [52:41] wouldn't you go to the maple capital went to stay open and then she put them in [52:46] touch with [52:47] a few schools and when they came they fell in love with the city and that was just [52:51] last week so this is moving very fast in October since that would be all over. But [52:56] anyhow it's exciting. You really like me to follow up on [53:03] an award to Washington in [53:04] a movie right here. Well I will say that yes you are getting OK We had [53:12] our 2nd meeting we were chosen I think to join hands with the N.E.A. [53:17] Grant for the pair of entering programs so we have 12 para educator mentors [53:24] and they each have [53:25] a person that they're mentoring right now and Julie Longchamp in conjunction with [53:29] the N.E.A. [53:29] Has been coming and doing. Classes with the mentors in the mentees and [53:37] they came into the Today thing which they. Started before school and they just did [53:42] a follow up when we have a couple more that we're doing on but he spent [53:47] a great experience I think for the mentors and. For the people who work with. [53:54] Me But I know it will be sorry. If. You [54:01] leave the ground ready to go and when I do that this. Week in the [54:09] summer you get [54:10] a few that were all of our programs didn't gather and we introduced all of the [54:16] staff to make sure the students know all of the resources available to them and [54:20] they. Would work with except. On the teachers because you know they're seeking. [54:29] To train. For that kind of. An event that [54:36] happened last week was and you have heard technology program was partnering with [54:41] the city last week on the College Green Belt tree planting and local city and then [54:46] by reason the city that trees that provides some places where we can live and so [54:53] the city was very happy to have 14 shopping bodies to help I think that happened I [54:58] believe Dr Drew by that song for the. Students. And if you also [55:05] notice that. I think it would of course students they did the same thing on the big [55:11] planters in the park so that you see then that makes the city so beautiful so you [55:15] would probably. Have the best so I saw them across the park and I really think [55:22] that it was [55:22] a work crew from Brisbane like I Love You know I don't know what about that until I [55:27] really didn't Archambault because I'm going to have like some B.S.A. [55:31] Going. Good identifier really building in the US is [55:35] a room where you think. I've been put together with the younger Yes So that's for [55:41] their safety really great that was done about it I do think they are going to like [55:46] chicken take Yeah there are some really to get will soon I'm so hurt that for him [55:52] they will be getting their own clothing that will accept driver technology on it [55:57] and you know boots and such because they're going to be out in all of the elk and [56:01] all elements so thank you for trying it for tention we certainly don't want to [56:07] really not look at my work even to so trip until the price I will take [56:14] before. He said anything then yes in your board package you may have an [56:20] excerpt from the sale of your. Students. [56:28] And I brought this for you and I would say Have you. Ever said lens is for the sad [56:35] we want to highlight the Northwest technical center we want to bring it to the [56:40] forefront of the city and that's our spend was [56:44] a LONG as well so what this is called is leaders of tomorrow and every single week [56:50] during the school year and there will be [56:52] a new student teacher and the best part about it is it creates that claiming [56:58] connection so it's interesting that it talks about the program to the [57:05] program there and at the Technical Center it talks about their credentials or their [57:10] college credits that they aren't or are currently in the process of. And it talks [57:15] about the employer connections where I think Job shadows for place and internships [57:21] and in this particular case like I said it's [57:23] a student from Fairfield he's in the public safety and fire services program and he [57:29] has a connection to the scene and Eastern. It's [57:33] a Cape Town and there is Sergeant Jason Johnson bought. For him. [57:40] And it talks about what he wants to do in the future and that his educational plans [57:44] which he wants to go into the air force and dissipate military police. [57:52] Military. [58:00] Tour just [58:01] a couple things the 1st just want to highlight we had our annual soccer every this [58:05] weekend with over 10 teams it was an aide to former events teams from all around [58:10] Franklin County and it was [58:11] a beautiful day and it was well attended and the players had [58:14] a lot of fun game to come together all in one space and play in Mary Rose because I [58:19] want to work in that one off quite well the other are events that are coming up on [58:24] Friday and the 21st at $630.00 we have our what is obviously the mind kickoff of [58:28] the cafeteria so many students are fairly similar to the interest and what actually [58:32] is obviously the mind is that time of year we start taking names of students to be [58:36] interested in and trying to put together teams and so any families that might see [58:41] this and we've been having on our website on Facebook pages and when tape shows the [58:46] organizer and so anyone who's curious about it there's [58:50] a link on the for parents section of our website so any any students around naval [58:54] run are interested and they can contact them and through that through e-mails or [58:58] any way the word out to the other schools Yes Lynn Lynn had sent that out to [59:01] everybody deserving it needs range from out of the cover obviously the bridges were [59:05] out of school all the way from there is the primary team which is you know usually [59:10] 1st grade 2nd grade particularly given our own student all the way through on 8th [59:15] grade in a few years ago we did have [59:16] a group of high school students who were on put together [59:19] a team as well and so that's going on and then the only other thing is that we're [59:24] trying to take off pharmacy school that's [59:25] a factor in creating greater connections so we did some reach out under open house [59:30] and we're holding a regional gathering on our cars. Or [59:32] a lot of. That is in our school library. After Hours think it starts at 330 to [59:38] 43 officers trying to create those connections and get that started so there seems [59:43] to be [59:43] a real push rise to tease been really helpful in getting that whole concept going [59:48] we're pushing I reach out to Rachel often to quite poignant and really helping us. [59:55] Organize that stuff that's what we have on great gift. In the Senate. [1:00:05] And with you. Here in [1:00:07] a presentation of this from big. Brother [1:00:15] . Who. [1:00:27] Is the very near future will be talking about [1:00:29] a 5 year plea and who we are for this year could be just gets more work to do the [1:00:35] news just to. Read enough good on the slow road. [1:00:42] To any movement on the reason that the. [1:00:51] But. Right now we are going to be gearing up to getting [1:00:58] the star getting the credits from the net media. As far as the actual installation [1:01:03] of the solo project I haven't seen it in recent. [1:01:11] Years you know so I I just have [1:01:13] a comment on I would respectfully request that we not have the discussion of [1:01:18] columns poorly at the at the meeting that might occur on the 17th of October if [1:01:24] that's going to be the day I will be in Wisconsin that week and I'd just like to be [1:01:29] present there enough thanks. But I don't think there's [1:01:33] a pressing. National resist have the conversation OK Thank you. [1:01:46] We're going to have the executive session in just over an hour from your partners [1:01:51] everybody talking to you.
