[1:23] » Hi, my name is Greg Senko. I'm the vice
president of the Country Pond Lake
[1:27] Association, and I thank you for seeing
me tonight. I know it was short notice,
[1:31] and you're on a time schedule, so I'll
try and be quick, but I'm prepared to
[1:35] answer any questions that you have. Um,
as you probably know, the Lake
[1:39] Association worked together with New
Hampshire Dees and New Hampshire Lakes
[1:43] to complete a project to restore the
boat ramp, not only for improving public
[1:49] access, but to reduce storm water
running into Country Pond. That project
[1:52] was completed at the end of April this
year. Now, we're looking at another
[1:57] grant cycle. And in our watershed
management plan for company pond,
[2:02] there's another high value project that
we could uh use for this grant
[2:08] application. It is the Newton Town Beach
parking area and when Mark's Road, which
[2:15] uh if you're familiar with the area, the
road slopes down towards the lake, takes
[2:19] a 90° turn, and that area has um a lot
of storm water issues. Water flows
[2:26] across the parking lot, starts running
down the street, adds to what comes down
[2:31] the street and would reaches the corner
there. The catch basins are really not
[2:36] highly functional. Uh they get filled up
very quickly in just a moderate amount
[2:42] of range. Uh sorry, moderate amount of
rain. Uh and then the overflow just runs
[2:48] right into the lake. Uh and even they
they fill up very quickly in the storm
[2:53] water. the um outflow pipe is draining
into the lake very quickly. So there's
[3:00] an estimate that uh 2.8 pounds of
phosphorus per year could be um reduced
[3:07] by remediating this area. For example,
the the boat ramp was about 2 pounds. So
[3:13] this is even a higher value project. It
would involve
[3:18] a bio retention area in the corner of
the parking lot to capture uh the the
[3:23] water that runs across the parking lot.
And then down at the corner under the
[3:29] street, [clears throat] the catch basins
would be removed and an infiltration
[3:34] system that um would be a lowprofile
system would be installed under the
[3:39] street and then the um the outflow pipe
would carry towards the lake. But in
[3:44] this case, the water would be uh
draining out of that pipe much less
[3:49] frequently than it does now. So, um
that's the proposed project.
[3:55] Uh I've had a discussion with the town
engineer, Mike Vnal. We reviewed the the
[4:01] site, looked at what's going on, and he
just shook his head at the situation
[4:05] with the catch basins. It's not great.
Um so what we're looking to do now is to
[4:11] apply in this grant cycle for money
which would cover the the engineering
[4:15] work surveying
designing
[4:19] um permitting of the project and then uh
an accurate estimate of the costs and
[4:26] then the next grant cycle would be uh
applied for for the remediation costs.
[4:32] » Sure. uh this grant cycle uh because
it's a planning project, it's a
[4:37] different type of grant and no match is
required if we get this project to pass.
[4:43] Uh so that's great news. The next cycle,
it's not entirely sure what type of
[4:48] grant we'll be able to apply for. Uh we
were very lucky with the boat ramp to
[4:52] receive an ARPA grant that covered 90%
of the costs. That was fantastic.
[4:59] Uh, but right now what I'm looking for
is a letter from the select board
[5:04] supporting that we apply for the grant
and that this project could go forward
[5:08] if we get the funding.

the sixth, car one and engine two was
[8:28] requested by Southampton for a CO call
at the campground. On the 7th, A1 was A1
[8:37] requested class star ALS for a medical
and crane crossing. On August 10th,
[8:44] Newton car 1 and engine 2 and utility
one worked a residential structure fire
[8:48] in Southampton for the town of
Southampton.
[8:52] On the 13th, A1 requested plast for a
medical in South Maine. At the same time
[8:59] that was going on, Newton A2 was
dispatched
[9:03] to Jacob's Way for another medical. So,
we had two medicals right on top of each
[9:07] other. It's nice having both ambulances.
On the 14th, A1 was requested by
[9:13] Amesberry Fire for station coverage.
While A1 was sitting in Aimsberry
[9:19] covering the city, we had a second call
where we uh A1
[9:26] uh requested Plastile to cover the call
on Bay Hill Road while they were in
[9:32] Amesberry.
On the 15th, Plasty EMS was requested
[9:38] for a medical on Pakame.
On the 16th, Kingston EMS was requested
[9:44] for a medical on Wildest Grove. On the
16th, Amesberry was requested to do a
[9:51] medical on Durgen. On the 16th, again,
Plasty EMS was requested to do a medical
[9:59] at Packa Meadows. On the 17th,
A1 was requested by Plasty Fire to do a
[10:07] medical in their town on Newton Road.
On the 18th, plaster engine was
[10:13] requested by engine 2 for assistance
with a CO call on Willy Drive. On the
[10:20] 19th, A1 requested plast
for a medical on Wilders Grove. On the
[10:27] 20th, A1 requested plast for medical on
Lilac.
[10:33] Also on the 20th
again backto back A1 requested plasty
[10:39] for a ALS for a medical and crane
crossing on the 25th. Plasty fire
[10:46] assisted Newton engine 2 with a
residential fire alarm on the 26th
[10:53] and 27th. We'll do both of them at the
same time. A1 requested plast
[10:59] for medicals on both.
Also, I have a little note there that I
[11:04] have completed. I have written and com
submitted the town's 2025
[11:10] assistance. The firefighter grant the
AFG application was sent to the grant
[11:15] reviewer and has been submitted to FEMA
for the amount of 135,500
[11:23] and that is to re replace approximately
half of the department's 25year
[11:29] portables. Uh fingers crossed
we get the money. [laughter]
