don't know why. Um we did have one
[2:34] major, very significant, event occurred
during the election. Our QVF, which is
[2:40] the qualified voter file that holds all
the election
[2:44] uh election information of every voter
that is run by the state, went down for
[2:49] 45 minutes in the evening on election
day, which means we were unable to
[2:54] register voters during this time period
and check absentee ballots and do other
[2:59] election administration stuff. Um we did
My office handled it like a champ. They
[3:05] They worked really hard, and the
election workers,
[3:08] uh
you know, were
[3:11] working with voters as as much as we can
without having access to the system. Um
[3:16] the state says that they are working on
a
[3:19] permanent fix, but we shall see about
that. Um
[3:23] everything else pretty much went
smoothly, um but like I said, we had an
[3:28] unusually high voter turnout. Um
every election after the election, just
[3:33] so the new board members know, I do
write this little memo out, so you can
[3:37] capture and see how early voting was
versus absentee and in-person voting. Um
[3:44] and I think it's just some useful
information to have, so um I do want to
[3:49] thank uh Deputy Clerk Mert or

>> Right. And going into this project, I I
[8:07] Yes, we wanted to address the concerns,
and it's it's an understandable
[8:10] question. Part of the way that we
started this project with the budget
[8:14] that we had or didn't have, um certain
selections were made, certain choices
[8:18] were made that really um was kind of
kicking the can down the road, and
[8:21] somebody's going to have to deal with
this later, and so we're dealing with it
[8:24] now. Um I did meet with the finance
director, and Kurt Weiland and I met
[8:28] compared all numbers, and we are still
well within budget. So, I just We knew
[8:32] that some of these things would happen.
Anytime you're renovating an old
[8:35] building, you're going to discover
certain things. Um and there was also
[8:39] certain concerns with decisions that
were made early that really you'll when
[8:43] we get to that portion or those
portions, you'll you'll understand. Um
[8:46] we
We can't We don't want to move forward
[8:49] without doing this right.

have been significantly higher. So, it

ask a bunch of times versus one big
[9:15] bill, but that one big bill would have
been significantly higher had we not
[9:18] done it this way. So.

[9:22] release of funds from HUD, so we're just
watching all of that diligently as well

any of this or, you know, use it for

were wood doors and not steel solid

that space safe both for staff and for
[12:35] any arrestees. It It really should have
been done with masonry walls, um solid
[12:40] doors, and then um
stainless steel like jail grade uh uh
[12:45] toilets and fixtures.

to be in a in a secure lockup area and
[14:45] also we could do court ordered
fingerprints or even fingerprints of an
[14:48] offender. Say if we have a juvenile
offender, we can fingerprint them there
[14:51] without having to bring them into a
lockup where another offender may be. So
[14:55] having a separate place to do
fingerprints but then also a separate
[14:58] private place to do an interview was the
intent. So adding a wall, moving a wall
[15:04] and then adding another wall in a much
larger office which then creates two
[15:08] office spaces. So we're trying to you
know maximize the amount of use that we
[15:11] can get out of the building. So that's
what change order those were change

they meet the uh attic. So, um
[16:19] in order to get the uh achieve R-49,
they're going to need to blow in uh add
[16:23] in blown-in uh insulation. Additionally,
while doing that, uh we're looking to
[16:27] add four solar tubes, which are similar
to skylights, but they're not actually
[16:32] skylights, to bring some natural light
into locations where people are working
[16:35] and and these happen to be places where
people work all day. They're not
[16:38] officers going out on the road. These
are spots where detectives and records
[16:41] people are working to bring some natural
light into that location.

[21:59] had a good attendance. Um it was very
nice to see a lot of residents come out,

residents. Uh we were able to take some
[22:12] of the information that were was
provided by experts um and add some
[22:17] things to the ordinance. Um our staff
and the Planning Commission have done a
[22:22] great job making sure that we are
putting in every possible regulation we
[22:25] can. Um we we do want to help our um
jurisdictions around us. We will be
[22:31] sharing everything we have. Uh we have
used several different legal um
[22:38] companies that have vetted out our
ordinance. We have taken our time,
[22:42] worked with the county, worked with the
state, worked with environmental groups.
[22:46] Um our entire staff has really been
involved in this. So, I just like to
[22:50] commend everyone and know that um most
likely in September that will be coming
[22:55] to the board. So, please take time to
look at it as well. We have opened it,
[22:59] you know, there's still time for people
to make comments publicly um before up
[23:04] until that time and then at the two
public hearings for us to still make
[23:08] changes. I do believe it'll be a living
and breathing document as the as there's
[23:14] really no expert in data centers. We'll
have to stay on top of things and and
[23:18] make sure we're looking out for our
community. And again, I I just think
[23:23] anything information we have we we share
with the communities around us and we
[23:26] work with everyone to do this. What
happens in Saline and Ypsilanti and
[23:31] Augusta affects us as well. Uh so, yeah,
this is something that
[23:37] I'm happy for us to lead,
um but I really want to make sure we
[23:40] leave no one behind as well as we as we
do this. And so, please keep informed.
[23:46] We'll we'll modify things as need be,
but that will be coming in most likely
[23:50] in September.

we do not have any

place, I think the biggest question was
[24:19] why not just leave a moratorium in
place? And I think that's the problem is
[24:23] that you can't. It's not legally
defensible. So, we're putting the
[24:27] guardrails in place and we're making
sure our community's protected through
[24:30] these ordinances as best as possible. Um
again, it's it's the wild, wild west and
[24:35] uncharted territory, so
we'll have to just keep watching it and
[24:39] as it evolves, we'll have to evolve. Um
but our most important thing is our
[24:44] resources and our residents and we got
350 responses from our residents and the
[24:50] majority do not are not in favor of
opening up to large-scale data databases
[24:55] or data centers. Um so and we have not

community. So, we um went to different

partners including our Commissioner

the chamber and just some of our our um
[25:40] our planning commissioners were there.
Our trustee um

or Thompson was there as well. So,
[25:46] hopefully and it's and and Treasure
Adkins as well.
[25:49] So, hopefully we'll have something in a
couple of weeks and it'd be nice to be
[25:52] able to maybe at this meeting show a
video that kind of highlights the
[25:55] experience of um Pittsfield Township and
we can share that with everybody to
[25:59] share how wonderful our community is
with others. So,

came with our membership. So, why not
[26:05] take advantage of it?
