[9:09] thank everyone that was involved in our
uh recent blood drive. Uh it it just
[9:15] shows how giving this community is. We
had a wonderful turnout.
[9:19] Uh I want to give special recognition to
our Ramseur Fire Department for having
[9:24] the highest number of donations.
And your
[9:29] commitment to this community exceeds
just emergency calls. We really
[9:34] appreciate your [clears throat]
leadership as well.
[9:37] So, that being said, on behalf of the
American Red Cross and the Ramseur
[9:42] Community Lions,
and I want to give you this trophy and
[9:46] bragging rights
for this next year
[9:49] and for your victory in the Battle of
the Badges.

Um the mayor has been in contact with

daily. So,
[13:26] we'd like for him to be able to
um speak on that when he returns and
[13:31] hopefully that will be next month.

Facebook page about the LGC releasing us
[13:51] from their care, if you will.

[13:55] in 2020, the town of Ramseur was put on
the unit assistance list of the local
[14:00] government budget and fiscal control
act, which is the LGC. This was due to
[14:05] late audits and other concerns. The
current staff, town clerk, finance
[14:10] officer, Carol Lakers, deputy town
clerk, finance officer, Debbie Branning,
[14:15] and administrative assistant, Diane
Garland, under the leadership of Mayor
[14:19] Hampton Styron, worked diligently over
the past 3 years to get the town back to
[14:24] good financial health.
On July 13th of this year, the LGC has
[14:29] released Ramseur from the unit
assistance list, an accomplishment to be
[14:33] very proud of. Please see the letter
below and I'll read it to you. Dear
[14:38] local government officials, staff of the
local government commission have
[14:42] recently reviewed data from the audited
financial statements presented submitted
[14:48] for fiscal year 2025.
I'm very pleased to notify you that
[14:52] based on the fiscal year 2025 audited
financial statements, the town of
[14:57] Ramseur is no longer on the unit
assistance list. We commend you and your
[15:02] staff for the efforts you made to
achieve this goal. We encourage you to
[15:06] maintain
the practices that have led to this
[15:10] accomplishment and look for
opportunities to continue to improve
[15:13] your financial health and fiscal
management practices. Please note, the
[15:18] LGC reviews the financial statements
annually and late submission declined in
[15:24] fiscal position and or auditor noted
compliance issues can return a unit to
[15:29] the government unit assistance list. Our
staff, especially the coach team,
[15:35] remains available to provide guidance or
assistance as you continue your work to
[15:40] adhere to the local government budget
and fiscal control act. And it's signed
[15:44] Kendra Bouldin and she's the director of
the fiscal management section.
[15:53] » I want to take the time to thank
on behalf of the mayor.
[15:59] Uh, this is a major, major, big
accomplishment. Uh, I can recall when
[16:07] I got on the board before I was elected.

big time. Um,
[16:17] and we struggled.

[16:24] with that being said, um,
we appreciate the diligence and the work
[16:29] that you ladies have put forward
uh,
[16:33] along with uh, the mayor's guidance to
get us up to speed, get our audits done.

[16:43] and that is a responsibility each year
that we are supposed to take care of.

and that didn't happen, unfortunately.
[16:51] So, there was a lot of work put into
that and uh,
[16:55] we appreciate it.

I pray that we will continue to move
[17:01] forward so that the town can prosper
because we could not do any buying, we
[17:05] couldn't really do uh,
like the meters that we needed. We
[17:09] couldn't do any of that because we
couldn't borrow money, we couldn't do
[17:12] anything. So,
um,
[17:16] people don't understand until they get
involved in local government just how
[17:20] things work.
Um so, we got to take care of business.
