[0:02] Start the meeting with the pledge of allegiance [0:07] to the flag of the United States of [0:09] America and to the republic for it [0:12] stands one nation under God indivisible [0:17] with liberty and justice for all. [0:29] Start with the approval of the minutes. [0:33] Believe we have June 22. We don't have [0:39] » Okay. [0:44] Then we're going to move on to what was [0:46] approved by two. So 610 SAG Main Street, [0:51] the installation of driveway gates was [0:53] approved and 182 Townline Road. [0:58] That was approved. [1:01] Moving on to old business 124 skate [1:04] lane. [1:14] We move on to 60 Daniels Lane Farm. [1:25] Is anyone here from traffic far? [1:28] Mark [1:31] » can you turn on your video and [1:34] microphone? [1:36] >> Yep, I'm here. [1:38] >> Hey Mark, [1:41] >> can you get Yeah. Hi. How are you? [1:43] >> Great. We can hear you. [1:47] » We're starting with this. Okay, [1:50] >> that's what I have. What do you Would [1:52] you like me to call? [1:54] >> No, no, no. That's good. I I'm happy to [1:57] do that. [2:01] Um, okay. Are we ready? [2:03] >> Yes. [2:06] >> All right. Um, [2:08] I want to thank you guys for again for [2:10] the opportunity to present. Thank the [2:12] board for that. Um, as we discussed at [2:15] the first meeting, topping farm is an [2:17] important link to Sagoponic's [2:19] agricultural heritage. Um, although its [2:22] primary use is equestrian, it remains an [2:24] active working farm with horses, barns, [2:26] paddics, fields, and open landscapes [2:27] requiring daily year-round care and [2:30] stewardship. [2:32] The permanent farm workers who live and [2:34] work here are essential to that [2:35] operation. Their daily responsibilities [2:38] from caring for the horses to [2:39] maintaining the paddics, fields, [2:40] fencing, and other agricultural areas [2:43] are what allow the property to continue [2:45] functioning as well as maint [2:47] well-maintaining or as well maintained [2:50] working farm and preserve its pastoral [2:52] character. The proposed improvements are [2:54] intended simply to provide appropriate [2:56] accommodations for these year-round [2:58] members of the farm. Our goal is a [3:01] modest and carefully considered [3:02] improvement that supports the continued [3:04] agricultural use of topping farm while [3:06] respecting its scale, character, and [3:08] historical context. We appreciate the [3:10] board's continued consideration and look [3:12] forward to addressing the proposal with [3:14] you today. [3:16] Um so this first slide, the red fills [3:20] indicate the um they denote the [3:22] previously proposed column [3:25] and additional column requested by the [3:27] board. [3:28] Uh the canal lever creates a balance [3:30] through openness and lightness. The [3:32] gable already has significant visual [3:35] weight and out adding the outer column [3:37] would create greater asymmetry um [3:40] because it's not a true mirror of the [3:41] bench column. [3:44] It would also not align with the [3:45] existing column near the bench. As said [3:48] uh the additional column would emphasize [3:50] one edge without creating a clear clear [3:52] rhythm. And the canal lever helps offset [3:55] the gable's mass and maintains a cleaner [3:56] composition. [3:58] Next slide. [4:01] Uh the orange fill indicates the open [4:03] voids for viewing. Um it is our position [4:07] that balance does not require symmetry. [4:10] It can come from proportions, massing, [4:12] materials, and relationships between [4:14] elements. [4:16] Uh the canal lever corners are [4:18] intentional and integral to the design. [4:20] The open corners create voids that frame [4:22] views and enhance the experience of the [4:24] inhabitants, the very people who are [4:26] stewards of this farm. [4:28] Adding columns solely for symmetry would [4:30] alter the design intent without [4:32] improving balance and symmetry would not [4:34] be achieved. [4:36] Next slide. [4:40] So each porch porch here uh includes a [4:43] bench oriented towards the fields. The [4:45] canal lever creates a shaded open void. [4:48] The open corner provides clear views [4:50] towards the fields. The design [4:52] intentionally combines shade, seating [4:54] and views. Next slide. [4:58] Corner columns would reduce the intended [5:00] open views from the porches. Uh [5:03] properties with views towards the [5:04] porches are more than 500 feet away. [5:07] The client supports the open design [5:09] which best serves the occupants. Uh pri [5:12] prioritizing the farm workers views [5:14] towards the field is appropriate we feel [5:15] for this project. And the following [5:18] slides illustrate will illustrate the [5:20] visual impact or lack of of the proposed [5:23] columns from the street. So, if we go to [5:25] the next slide, [5:28] so you'll see the distances to uh Gibson [5:30] Lane here and to the closest neighbor. [5:34] Um, and for this western view, [5:38] the red cone, it's hard to see, but it's [5:40] there off of Gibson. Um, [5:44] that's going to be our next uh that's a [5:46] view in our next slide. [5:51] You can go to the next slide. Yeah. So [5:52] that's that's the view from um from from [5:55] Gibson. [5:57] So that illustrates this illustrates [6:00] what we what we showed in plan a second [6:01] ago here. So next slide. [6:07] Um [6:09] so you see that's far far enough from [6:11] the from the road here. So the proposed [6:14] sign this is the proposed design is [6:16] viewed from approximately 500 feet away. [6:19] Um [6:26] so the next slide you can go to the next [6:27] slide [6:30] » to also illustrate this. This is the [6:32] same view taken under the morning sun [6:34] which um with the sun behind the facade [6:36] in question making the column placement [6:38] pretty indistinguishable. Next slide. [6:43] Here are the views with the column and [6:46] the canal levered corner. uh taken from [6:49] that west elevation [6:54] and this is about 100 feet from the [6:55] house just as a reference. [6:58] Next slide [7:02] and these are the views from um I guess [7:05] well this is the north elevation. Um [7:12] this is about 75 ft with the column [7:14] corner and the canal livered corner. [7:19] The next slide [7:24] and this is the uh proposed um south [7:26] elevation that the board requested. [7:30] This is not visible from Daniel's Lane, [7:31] but this is the the south elevation with [7:34] the Canterle corner. And the next slide [7:37] is with the column. [7:41] In our view, the added column has little [7:43] to no visual impact to the neighboring [7:46] properties. [7:48] Um, and that's that's it. [7:52] >> Thank you, Mark. [7:54] Being able to compare the drawings with [7:56] and without was extremely helpful for [7:58] all of you. So, I appreciate that [8:00] effort. [8:01] >> Great. [8:02] >> Does anyone have any thoughts? [8:03] >> I have a question. Mark, uh, in your [8:06] beginning you said that the client has [8:08] approved the overall design. Have you [8:11] spoken to them directly about the column [8:13] and are they uh they prefer not having [8:17] the specific column or is it they just [8:19] approve the whole design? [8:23] >> They approved the design. Um, we didn't [8:25] get into detail about the column but [8:27] they they rely on us to, you know, for [8:30] the design and to make that call for for [8:33] them. Um, [8:34] >> so they're not they're not aware of our [8:37] thought to add a column. [8:40] >> I did send them that note. Yes. [8:42] >> And what did they say? [8:45] >> They prefer not to have the column. [8:49] » Thank you. [8:57] » Anybody have any thoughts on with or [8:59] without? [9:01] >> Not really. Yeah, I'm fine without the [9:04] column. I'm fine with the column. Either [9:07] way, it's it works for me. So, whatever. [9:12] >> I think ultimately it's it's the [9:14] distance from the view. [9:16] >> Yeah, [9:17] >> I think we the presentation did very [9:20] well to conclude that the candle was [9:23] superior to it. But again, I just [9:27] um [9:30] » I think no [9:32] in light of the fact that it is all [9:34] about the view in a in a beautiful [9:37] location such as this. I I would it's [9:40] such a minor detail I think [9:42] architecturally to have the column at it [9:45] for the grounding which I thought would [9:47] help. I think it does help but I think [9:49] also it's not worth it's not enough [9:52] worth sacrificing a view for your for [9:54] the people that are inhabiting. So I [9:57] think we're all fine here on the board [9:58] with no column. Uh and again I [10:01] appreciate your [10:03] >> that motion for us. [10:05] >> No problem. Appreciate the the [10:07] opportunity to present it. [10:09] >> Yeah. Okay. So I'll make a motion to [10:11] >> second. All in favor? [10:16] » Thanks Mark. [10:18] >> Okay. Thank you. [10:19] >> All right. [10:24] your sinus [10:33] making sure [10:47] we [10:51] can do [11:04] I promise [11:10] you. [11:30] Y [11:49] Even if this is [11:55] true, [11:57] >> it's the way to answer [12:00] for next time. [12:01] >> Yeah. [12:03] >> All right, we're moving on to 16 Jacob's [12:06] Way. [12:09] We're looking at paint colors and [12:12] chimney [12:13] in cedar colors. [12:28] Hi everyone. My name is Nina Gonzalez. [12:30] I'm here on behalf of um Miss Frober. [12:32] She can't be here today. Um we dropped [12:35] off a couple weeks ago uh an updated [12:37] rendering inclusive of the exterior trim [12:40] color as well as the chimney selection. [12:43] Uh I know it was reviewed in the group [12:45] of two. Um, and I just wanted to answer [12:47] any questions that you may had uh in [12:49] that regard [12:51] because it was brought back from the [12:53] committee too. [12:54] >> I had one question. I went to to see the [12:57] uh blue granite map. Um, you guys have [13:02] originally were a medival between the u [13:05] blue granite veneer or the gray stuck. [13:08] Is that still an either or kind of [13:10] situation? No, we have um a property [13:13] right down the road uh that the client [13:15] tooured that had this exact stone mockup [13:17] that they fell in love with and they had [13:18] to [13:38] » know it's not always [13:40] accurate. Okay. [13:51] » Did y'all want to see that? [14:01] See, to me that feels like a more of a [14:03] putty color than like a bluestone [14:07] granite color. They're [14:11] looking for a monochromatic feeling, [14:13] which I know you are. [14:18] This is [14:20] Charleston gray. [14:21] >> Yeah, I brought a color sample because [14:23] the colors doesn't always uh translate [14:25] to [14:25] >> Yeah, that's really helpful. [14:40] I think that just [14:43] if you look at HC or you look at this [14:47] okay [14:59] are you capping it with this this [15:02] stone here at the top or will it be [15:06] >> uh that was a sample of the papers for [15:08] the porch which was just a thermal boost? [15:14] » Anybody have any comments? [15:18] » Um the chimney height is going to is it [15:20] going to breach the apex of the [15:23] >> Yeah. [15:28] Can you hear the plants from the other [15:29] sides of the house? [15:34] » This is just [15:36] it doesn't look very tall. It looks like [15:38] it is taller than [15:42] have an exterior. [15:45] >> I don't believe so. So it might just be [15:46] the angle of the but [16:19] And you're not doing paint detail around [16:22] the windows like you had in the other [16:23] slides. It's just that area, nothing [16:26] else on the house. Okay. [16:33] Bless you. [16:48] So it is taller. I was wrong. Yes. [16:55] » They typically are in this context, but [17:13] Okay. Does anybody have any issues with [17:15] their plans for the stone coloring? [17:19] >> No, the stone and the paint. [17:28] » Okay. Thank you. I'll make a motion to [17:29] approve. [17:31] >> All in favor? Hi. [17:33] >> Thank you all. Have a great rest of your [17:35] day. [18:19] You step [18:35] This is [18:59] Thank you. [19:15] That's [19:32] Don't look at the other one. [19:35] Okay. [19:51] » Yes. I passed it back this way. I think [19:53] it's under by your mouse. [20:01] » Okay. [20:03] All right. We're moving on to 53 Hedges [20:05] Lane. An application for Oh, [20:09] >> that's a journ. [20:12] So, now we're going to move on to 836 [20:14] Second Street. [20:24] I think where this is on the map. [20:39] visible [20:50] from [21:08] » afternoon. Thank you members of the [21:09] board for allowing us to present today [21:11] for this project. My name is Robert [21:13] Treasure from Newman Design [21:15] Architectural Office [21:17] Treasure T R E D G E R [21:24] behalf of the owners Mr. Mrs. Mackey uh [21:27] to present this uh revitalization of [21:31] this existing home. Our proposal is to [21:34] provide new siding, roofing, and a few [21:37] additional windows. And I can walk you [21:39] through the project and an additional uh [21:43] front covering to enhance the [21:45] architectural elements of the existing [21:47] home. [21:51] On this floor plan, it's represented for [21:54] that front entrance, a roof over reverse [21:56] gable uh at the front entries. You'll [21:59] see that in the next few slides. And [22:02] then a few expanded second floor deck uh [22:06] deck areas to enlarge the area for ex [22:11] outdoor use. [22:15] Top slide represents the front of [22:17] elevation [22:19] and uh the new siding. Uh we have both [22:23] horizontal and vertical siding uh [22:26] presented throughout the new throughout [22:28] the residence as well as some standing [22:32] seam roof as an architectural feature on [22:34] some of those architectural elements [22:36] throughout the the building in the front [22:39] over the garage and in the rear areas uh [22:42] over some of the master bedroom and and [22:45] other living spaces. [22:50] That section on the bottom left [22:51] represents the addition or additional [22:55] roof area over an existing room that's [22:57] already existing. [23:03] These slides represent the existing [23:04] house on the top the way it's as of [23:07] today. Uh painted siding on the [23:10] exterior. The owner wishes to enhance [23:12] that with cedar uh with reduh red cedar [23:16] roof shingles and uh the Alaskan yellow [23:20] cedar for the trim and the siding. And I [23:22] have samples here if you like to see as [23:24] well. [23:26] Uh the uh on the right side where we [23:29] have the metal standing seam roof that [23:31] will be a dark bronze standing seam roof [23:33] color to blend in with the um the color [23:36] palette that we have. [23:41] This, as you can see on the bottom slide [23:44] on the left, uh we removed the roof. [23:47] We're proposing to remove some of the [23:48] roof area that is as depicted on the top [23:52] uh elevation uh to bring in a cable rail [23:56] system to open up the views to the [23:58] backyard. [24:00] That would be on the that um room along [24:05] the top as you see there. And then a [24:07] small area on the rear end of one of the [24:10] bedrooms. [24:19] So if anyone has any questions or [24:21] comments, I'd be happy to ask. [24:34] What's the material on the roof on the [24:36] bottom left there? [24:38] >> The bottom left that is the standing [24:40] seam metal roof. [24:42] Uh like a dark bronze color. [24:45] >> And you have samples of that? [24:47] >> I do not have samples, but it it depicts [24:49] the same color as the rendering uh for [24:51] that particular product. [25:00] Is there another reason for that being [25:02] metal versus like the others other than [25:05] aesthetics? Just out of curiosity? [25:07] >> Yeah, we wanted to enhance the [25:09] architectural of the the the residence [25:12] existing residence and bring it up to a [25:14] nice format um of what the um what we'd [25:19] like to see in the building. As you you [25:21] look on the I guess the slide prior, it [25:24] does balance off between the uh [25:26] different roof elevations throughout the the building. [25:31] Those are enhanced rooms and we wanted [25:33] to give a little more uh architectural [25:36] element to it. [25:44] » Is this an old one? [25:47] >> That looks like an old [25:56] side. [25:58] >> Each side of what? I'm sorry. uh each [25:59] side of the home [26:02] >> the calculations for the [26:05] >> uh I do not the only the existing [26:07] glazing we're going to be replacing some [26:09] of the windows uh the only glazing that [26:11] we're changing is the front windows uh [26:15] by the entrance to the right of the [26:17] entrance back [26:19] that [26:21] if you see on the top slide right next [26:23] to the left of the garage [26:26] uh there are small two little windows [26:28] about looks like 8 in high or 8 in [26:31] square. And we're adding a few taller [26:33] windows in that section just next to to [26:37] the left of the garage. [26:40] That's the those are the only additional [26:42] wind as opposed to also the front [26:44] entrance window. If you see right above [26:46] the uh center where that reverse gable [26:50] is pronounced [26:51] >> in the rear, that's the rear. [26:52] >> That's the front, [26:53] >> right? But there are changes in the [26:55] rear. [26:59] But but wise there are no additional [27:03] windows if that's what you were asking [27:05] in the rear. [27:11] windows would just be [27:18] uh in the front to uh right above the [27:21] entrance door uh behind [27:24] sort of uh [27:27] table there. Um is that a outdoor space? [27:32] >> Uh directly next to the entry store. [27:34] >> Yeah. Uh directly above the second [27:36] floor. [27:36] >> On the second floor. [27:37] >> Oh yes. That it's not an outdoor space. [27:39] It's an interior space. It's basically [27:40] an expansion of an existing room uh to [27:44] with a reverse gable. It already has a [27:45] sloped roof in the room. So, we're [27:48] proposing to put a reverse to [27:49] >> Oh, so this is a sort of a shed shed [27:52] dorm room. [27:54] >> Uh look at the top photo you can see on [27:56] the like towards the left. That's what [27:58] it looks like currently where it just [27:59] sheds down is a that type of roof. [28:05] » Are there windows there? It's like a [28:07] wall. Uh there are no windows uh on that [28:11] center section. Feel like I could walk [28:14] up to the screen if [28:21] » So this is the front entrance area. [28:23] That's the front door. And this roof is [28:26] the proposed just a reverse gable over [28:28] the top of this area. [28:30] >> Oh, no. Right to the left of it. [28:33] >> This no in between [28:35] >> above. [28:37] >> That's existing. This little guy. [28:39] >> Yeah, that's existing. [28:40] >> What room is that? [28:41] >> Uh, [28:41] >> is that is that a dormer shed out or is [28:44] it an indentation? It's hard to tell. [28:45] >> It's an indentation, but I don't know [28:47] what room it is exactly in that area. [28:52] >> It does not. [28:56] » I don't think it's a storage room, but I [28:59] know it was set back just like it's [29:02] um there's another photo. [29:13] It's not a window. [29:15] >> No, it's not a window. [29:16] >> It's just a wall. [29:18] >> Yeah. [29:19] >> Why? I wonder why it was like that. [29:23] >> I also feel like I I don't We don't have [29:26] all the plants. I don't I don't see two [29:28] other sides of the house [29:31] >> to look at. I think we'd be able to [29:33] tell. [29:38] I mean for renderings and existing [29:40] photos we have south [29:42] >> I don't know you could go open the uh [29:45] elevations if it's not on the renderings [29:47] I think we have three renderings of the [29:48] building um there's another side [29:52] we could I could show you that on the [29:54] elevator [29:57] >> we have a west elevation [29:59] >> A7 [30:02] I say [30:14] A3 [30:16] side of the uh [30:23] on the bottom. [30:45] Did you asking percentages? [30:47] >> Yeah, we don't doesn't have any blazing [30:53] percentage. [30:58] » I think we need a little bit more [30:59] information. [31:00] >> Okay. [31:01] >> We would love to see what the glazing [31:04] percentage is of the existing house and [31:06] then a new glazing [31:08] percentage for the plants that you have [31:11] and then if it's possible not too much [31:14] to ask the rendering of the east and [31:16] west sides [31:18] >> we have a west side [31:19] >> there's a west elev [31:20] >> I mean elevations we have [31:22] >> uh the rendering is [31:24] >> the last page [31:26] >> the west [31:30] sorry [31:32] >> you like to see an east uh render [31:35] all sides [31:46] and the glazing differences. [31:48] >> Yes, I will uh [31:50] have that calculated and then like I [31:52] mentioned there's two windows basically [31:55] where I [31:59] feel like there's more but it's just [32:01] hard to see with the before and after [32:04] photos. Um, when I look at every before [32:08] and after, [32:10] I feel like there are differences. [32:14] Um, [32:15] >> but regardless, just to know what that [32:17] difference is. [32:18] >> Absolutely. [32:19] >> Um, in general, I mean, I think you [32:23] know, [32:24] >> I think you've done a good job of [32:26] updating this home. Where is the house [32:30] built? [32:30] >> I'm not sure exactly, but I know it's a number of years. It's [32:34] >> 80s, I believe. 80s [32:41] » from an 80s house to the makeover. I'd [32:43] say it's [32:45] >> the land of tea house. It's nice to see [32:48] some lay hands. [32:49] >> Right. Right. [32:51] >> That's a question about the plantings [32:53] around it because where sit when you go [32:56] in the driveway, their houses on either [32:58] side and it's rimmed in I guess privet [33:02] or something. So when you plan to build [33:05] it, you'll just go right in the driveway [33:08] and remove any of the of the trees or [33:12] anything just [33:13] >> There was no indication to me that they [33:15] were going to remove, but we could [33:17] definitely speak to that. I I'll ask [33:19] again if there was any [33:21] three or four houses in that area that I [33:24] think you could disrupt them. [33:25] >> Oh, if they remove [33:29] mention of that. [33:32] Yeah. [33:34] The only other comment I think I'd make [33:36] is maybe consider not glass for the [33:39] garage doors. [33:47] Yes, that was to bring up a little bit [33:49] of more contemporary feel to the uh the [33:52] design of [33:54] um [33:56] I think the garage we're facing the side [33:59] with a lot of you know screening maybe [34:01] but I think you know we leave the lights [34:03] on and it's tidy in there and it's a lot [34:06] of extra glazing that we don't maybe is [34:08] not the place where you want to have use [34:10] those numbers. U that's just a request [34:14] from myself personally. [34:16] And then if you could come back to us [34:18] with the color of the trim [34:22] seems [34:23] I know renderings are the color would [34:26] all be the same material. So there was [34:29] this is white [34:31] and yellow feeder with the trim and [34:34] >> so it's not paint. [34:35] >> No [34:36] it'll blend in. Okay. [34:43] What else I need comments? [34:46] >> I mean, still a little confusion with [34:48] the roof lines and the facade, but it [34:52] not from the historical preservation [34:54] committee. That doesn't make a [34:56] difference. Um, no, I think I think it's [34:59] again it's commendable that we have a [35:02] lot of people tearing things down, [35:04] right? [35:05] >> Understood. But it's nice to see this [35:07] and [35:08] >> yeah, they love the house. They just [35:09] wanted to upgrade it to uh bring it to a [35:11] nice architectural element. [35:13] >> And normally we do like continuity of of [35:15] uh roof structure, but here it does [35:18] actually help I think break it up and [35:20] >> Right. [35:22] >> I agree. [35:26] So do you have a clear picture of what [35:29] we need for next round? Yes, I've taken [35:31] some notes and I will provide uh some [35:34] information and some feedback from [35:36] ownership if we need to and and our our [35:38] office. [35:40] >> That' be great. [35:40] >> Thank you so much. [35:41] >> Thank you. That was very [35:58] second. paper. [36:09] Okay. To the driveway gates at 511 [36:14] Daniel. [36:30] Good afternoon. My name is Shannon [36:32] Bradley and I'm the owner of Hampton's [36:34] Permit and Expediting which is located [36:36] at 16 Window Lane in Southampton, New [36:38] York. I'm here today representing STEM [36:41] Partners LLC in connection with an [36:43] application before the Syoponic [36:45] Architectural Review Board for approval [36:47] of a proposed automatic driveway gate [36:50] for 511 Daniels Lane, Sagoponic, New [36:54] York. Proposed gate will be set [36:56] approximately 40 ft from the roadway. It [36:59] will be constructed of western red cedar [37:01] S4S vertical grade material and will be [37:05] approximately 4 ft in height and 16 ft 3 [37:09] in in width. The gate will attach to two [37:12] 8 in posts, one on each side, which will [37:15] also be construction of Western. [37:18] As part of this application, I have [37:20] provided the most updated survey showing [37:23] the proposed location of the automated [37:24] driveway gate along with a color [37:26] rendering of the gate and a drafted shot [37:29] drawing illustrating the dimensions, [37:31] columns, footings, control panel, and [37:34] keycap. The gate has been designed by [37:36] East End Automation, which is a company [37:38] that has designed and installed numerous [37:41] gates [37:43] within the village of Sanaponic. East [37:45] End Automation is familiar with the [37:46] design standards standards material [37:49] expectations and building code [37:51] requirements applicable to automated [37:54] driveway gates in the village. The [37:56] proposed scheme has been designed to be [37:58] cohesive with the character of the [38:00] neighborhood while maintaining a high [38:01] level of quality and workmanship. The [38:03] use of western red cedar and the [38:05] proposed scale are intended to [38:07] complement the surrounding property and [38:09] remain consistent with Sagoponic's [38:11] architectural expectations. I appreciate [38:14] the board's time and attention to this [38:16] application and I'm happy to answer any [38:18] questions. [38:19] >> Thank you. [38:21] for paying attention to the [38:24] style guide to the gates and if you [38:27] could maybe just go back to the [38:28] overview. Yes. Can you point to us where [38:31] the gates going and show and tell us if [38:34] there are other gates already existing [38:35] on the [38:36] >> There aren't other gates already [38:37] existing and it should be 40 ft long. [38:40] >> Yes, there are. [38:41] >> There are gates. Sure. [38:43] >> At the main entrance as you come back to [38:45] the one where the residential part of [38:47] the property starts, [38:48] >> but not Okay. The 40 ft in is where the [38:51] proposed. So, [38:52] >> and at the end of that flag when you [38:54] come back towards the house, there's [38:55] another driveway [38:56] >> here, right? [38:57] >> Yeah. [38:58] >> Okay. So, I I misunderstood the [39:00] question. I thought you meant off the [39:01] roadway. I apologize. So, off the [39:03] roadway, this is the gate that they're [39:05] proposing. And the reason that it's 40 [39:07] ft back, it says per code, any lot over [39:10] 40,000 square feet has to have a [39:12] driveway accessory gate set back 40 [39:15] instead of 20. So that's basically what [39:18] we're proposing. Um re placed on the [39:21] survey so that we meet that minimum. [39:23] Okay. And what is the need for the gate? [39:26] >> Uh they stated privacy. Uh they wanted [39:30] the gate for security and privacy. It's [39:32] really [39:34] basically the only reasons that they [39:35] stated [39:38] >> need a a solid reason and it's hard to [39:41] find a reason that the other gate [39:44] doesn't already sort of fulfill the [39:45] needs of [39:46] >> I guess from the roadway with all the um [39:49] I mean there's just such an influx of [39:52] vehicles and traffic and whatnot more [39:54] than what any of us are used to in this [39:56] area especially I mean I grew up out [39:58] here and it's just something that they [40:00] really want on a request from you know [40:03] request approval for. So it does it does [40:07] serve a different purpose than the gate [40:09] that's so far in. [40:16] I do have to say and I don't know but [40:17] there are a lot of other I don't like to [40:20] compare and I don't like to give out [40:22] addresses but there are a lot of other [40:24] gates on by um Daniel's path that are [40:26] located in the exact location that this [40:29] gate is being proposed. Um it is with [40:33] very nice material. Next, definitely. [40:37] >> And those gates, are they with open [40:40] fields or are the gates that you're [40:42] referring to kind of behind uh greenery? [40:47] >> At this time, what we're proposing is [40:49] all open. If you would prefer screening, [40:51] we could [40:53] >> the president the gate precedence [40:57] near there. I don't see any gates at [40:59] least with the open fields. Uh, [41:04] I really don't want to compare to other [41:05] houses, but there are other there's five [41:08] that I could [41:11] has a bunch of [41:12] >> but that's got trees in front. So there [41:14] this property I I know there [41:20] >> because of the beautiful um wild flowers [41:23] and things like that that they plant. [41:26] It's a different look in that specific [41:28] location. Not saying it's bad or good, [41:30] but I think we should be realistic that area will change with those gates, [41:35] >> right? I do I do think I mean my [41:38] personal opinion is that the standards [41:40] that you put forth already in your code [41:43] to help preserve the beauty of the [41:46] property. It's the opakeness and [41:48] openness that you guys command in your [41:51] code, the height restriction, a lot of [41:53] things that you already prepare for that [41:55] people need definitely helps. not block [41:59] beautiful views. So that's the only [42:01] thing I could speak to for that. But [42:03] it's really we're here to see what your [42:05] thoughts are and see if you would, you [42:07] know, prove it's [42:10] take any any comments and there's [42:12] anything at all that we could do [42:13] differently. Definitely [42:16] would like to hear it. I mean, I think [42:18] in this area and in this case, you know, [42:23] there are probably a lot of, to use [42:26] term, looks, [42:27] >> right? People who want to see it closer, [42:29] right? And I'm sure that's what they're [42:32] trying to [42:32] >> There's a lot. Yes. [42:34] >> Not have happened. [42:35] >> Okay. Um, so I think [42:38] you know [42:40] the two gate thing is not what we would [42:43] really prefer [42:47] but I do understand the circumstances. [42:48] Does anybody have any other thoughts? [42:52] >> I feel like if we're trying to avoid [42:53] precedence of gates then having a [42:57] president of two gates means that [42:59] especially one at 40 ft would serve as [43:02] more of an amorphous buffer to specific [43:05] uh pet, kids, that kind of thing. [43:08] >> Yeah. [43:09] >> Um [43:12] you know, could I argue that my 8 foot [43:14] driveway I want a gate because it's wide [43:16] enough for every corner doing the turn. [43:24] » But by code, it meets where it needs to [43:26] be. The code is set up and this is not [43:29] it's just 20 ft. off of any lot less [43:33] than 1,000 square ft and maybe [43:36] >> maybe you're correct. Maybe I'll make a [43:39] suggestion then to move their existing [43:41] gate. [43:42] >> Okay. [43:43] >> That way we wouldn't be setting up the [43:45] two gates are okay. Um how does anybody [43:50] feel about [43:52] that? Not that [43:53] >> also it seems maybe 100 to 150 feet in. [43:57] Uh, I'm not sure if it's really help [43:58] that much, but there is already an [44:00] existing sort of uh turnout area. [44:04] >> Okay. [44:04] >> Um, so maybe [44:07] >> Yeah. I'm not sure that makes it much [44:08] better seeing a gate off of the [44:09] distance. [44:10] >> It does actually [44:12] farther away. [44:14] >> Yeah. [44:15] >> So then maybe moving it not to 40 feet, [44:17] but moving it to where Tony said there's [44:19] a turn around. [44:21] >> So how far you could give like how far [44:24] Can I go back up? Yeah. How far would [44:26] you want it? Moved in so [44:30] >> I didn't take a picture of it. Um, but [44:32] there's already an existing um sort of [44:35] uh towards the west side of the uh of [44:37] the driveway. Okay. [44:39] >> There's a little indentation a little uh [44:41] almost like [44:42] >> circular area where there's existing [44:45] more asphalt looks like for someone to [44:47] turn a truck around. [44:49] >> Okay. And one of the big things is is [44:50] when someone approaches a gate um you [44:53] know say an unrequited [44:55] uh UPS guy comes he's backing out there [44:58] and that's [44:59] >> so to be able to have a way for him to [45:02] go in and turn around and come back. [45:04] >> Okay. So more width to be able to move [45:07] understand that point completely. Okay. [45:09] So [45:20] » thoughts on [45:20] >> So you're just you're just you're saying [45:23] push the gate further back but still but [45:27] that other gate still going to be there? [45:30] >> No, [45:31] >> I don't think we want two gates. I don't [45:32] think we should allow two gates uh as a [45:35] president. And I think well I understand [45:37] the situation. They don't want people [45:39] driving all the way down to look into [45:41] their land where they're living. [45:43] >> That's basically [45:45] >> and I I completely understand that. And [45:46] so I just think not that we want to gate [45:48] in the middle of nowhere, right? I mean [45:50] it certainly probably makes more sense [45:51] toward the street. [45:52] >> Would you like influencers where there's [45:54] wild flowers are out or there's just [45:56] people getting lost? I [45:57] >> mean anybody like wanting to [46:00] >> Yeah, they like to apparently drive in [46:02] and then get as close as they can which [46:04] is the gate. it's further in and then [46:06] they they really do they they impede [46:09] themselves onto other people's property [46:12] and just say it how it is and then you [46:14] know turn around and leave the property. [46:17] So these particular homeowners wanted to [46:20] see if they could put a second gate [46:23] closer to the road and you know prevent [46:26] that from happening. So I I mean I guess [46:29] it's happening a lot enough to be able [46:31] to have me come here and request this [46:33] from Yeah. [46:35] understand. [46:40] Yeah, I agree. I think push back a bit, [46:43] which is good. I think it's still open, [46:45] but still be able to see it. [46:47] >> Okay. [46:48] >> I can see the gate at their house kind [46:50] of now back there, but I I understand [46:54] it's not that easy to see. [46:56] >> Okay. [47:00] » So, I would agree with um this gentleman [47:03] here. Okay. [47:05] >> Where they can turn around because [47:06] otherwise they have to back all the way [47:08] up which [47:09] >> Yeah. There was a turning spot there. [47:11] >> Yeah. And they still be able to see it [47:13] clearly [47:15] which is losing the gate or [47:20] it's not the building. [47:26] » I'm surprised they go down there. [47:29] >> I know. [47:30] >> I'm really surp I've never seen car. [47:33] Yeah. No, I hear you. I'm not I'm not [47:35] challenging. I'm just [47:37] >> nothing more embarrassing than back [47:41] windows. [47:41] >> So, the two things that I'm coming back [47:43] with would be to move the gate to a more [47:45] open with area where the turnound is [47:49] >> and definitely to remove the second [47:51] gate. [47:51] >> Yes. [47:52] >> Okay. [47:56] Understand. Is there any is [47:59] everything else okay? Design good. [48:02] >> Design's good. Thank you so much. [48:03] >> All right. Thank you. [48:04] >> Thank you. [48:05] >> Nice to be here. Have a good day. [48:07] >> You too. [48:10] » So, I'll make a motion to adjourn. [48:14] >> Second. [48:19] Stand up on the darest. [48:43] » Yeah. [48:47] See how we close. [48:51] » So we'll [48:53] select our committee of two for [48:55] September [49:01] » committee of September. [49:05] >> Is anybody want to volunteer? Do you [49:06] want to do [49:13] » I don't think we have anything. We don't [49:14] have anything yet, but sometimes they [49:16] come up in the middle and they're simple [49:17] one. [49:19] >> All right. And our next meeting date is [49:21] September 28th at noon. [49:28] » Anybody need a public hearing on [49:29] anything before we close? [49:31] >> Okay. All right. Make a motion to [49:34] meeting. Second. All in favor? Hi. [49:37] >> Hi.
