1 00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:02,340 Hey, Alicia. 2 00:00:02,340 --> 00:00:15,620 Good evening everyone. I'd like to call to order this meeting of the Salem School Board for Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026. Um, we begin the meeting this evening with the Pledge of Allegiance. So please rise and honor our country with the pledge. 3 00:00:15,620 --> 00:00:17,060 I pledge allegiance. 4 00:00:17,060 --> 00:00:23,580 To the flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic for which it stands. One nation. 5 00:00:23,580 --> 00:00:24,500 Under God. 6 00:00:24,500 --> 00:00:32,540 Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 7 00:00:32,540 --> 00:00:49,900 Thank you all very much. Um, my name is Bernie Campbell. It is my pleasure to serve as the chair of the board at this moment. I'm going to start with the introduction of the people who are up front are they're going to introduce themselves, and I'm going to start on my right. You are left down at the end, Miss man. 8 00:00:49,900 --> 00:00:52,580 Darlene Mann, finance director. Good evening. 9 00:00:52,580 --> 00:00:53,220 Debbie Payne. 10 00:00:53,220 --> 00:00:55,940 Assistant superintendent for business operations. Good evening. 11 00:00:55,940 --> 00:00:58,140 Jack Richard, student representative. 12 00:00:58,140 --> 00:01:02,740 Mike County, school board member. Welcome, everybody. 13 00:01:02,740 --> 00:01:06,860 Good evening. Pamela Berry school board member. 14 00:01:06,860 --> 00:01:09,060 Kelly Moss board vice chair. Good evening. 15 00:01:09,060 --> 00:01:11,540 Good evening. Aaron Kalil board secretary. 16 00:01:11,540 --> 00:01:14,260 Good evening. Maura Palmer. Superintendent. 17 00:01:14,260 --> 00:01:20,340 Good evening, Angela markley. Assistant superintendent for operations, not for operations. For academics and supplies. 18 00:01:20,340 --> 00:01:22,460 We're here. 19 00:01:22,460 --> 00:01:24,020 We are here. 20 00:01:24,020 --> 00:03:25,090 All right, well, good evening. Um, a couple different things going on. The agenda this evening is essentially one topic we're going to be discussing finances, particularly as we lead into the fiscal year that begins July 1st, 2026. Um, we have a scheduled public hearing. Um, and the public hearing is to comment on the possible use of retained fund balances held by the Salem School District. That current. Retained fund balance amount is approximately $2,332,000, and the possible use of some portion or all of those funds. A lot of this is in response to proposed legislation, the status of which is uncertain at the moment. I don't think the legislature did us any favors, and I've read various articles through the statewide paper that a lot of school districts are struggling to determine how to respond to that potential legislation, and we will have that conversation shortly. I am going to begin by opening the public hearing on the possible use of the school district's retained funds, and I do not see anyone present who wishes to speak at this time. I'm also going to open the public comment period by state law. Under state law, The school board is meeting and therefore we must offer an open comment period of 30 minutes. Someone who is not in the room at this time still has an opportunity to come and address the board in the next 30 minutes. I'm opening the public comment period at 703, and that public comment period will end at 733. Assuming we are still here and in meeting. Um, at that time, um, I don't see anyone here. Um, pleasure of the board. Do you want to close the public hearing on the retained funds matter? Misses Berry. 21 00:03:25,090 --> 00:03:28,250 I think we should. 22 00:03:28,250 --> 00:03:29,170 Do you need a motion? S1: 23 00:03:29,170 --> 00:03:38,010 Take a motion to close the public hearing. And I'll just comment that we have a half an hour. If anybody walks in, they can still talk about it. 24 00:03:38,010 --> 00:04:36,410 This is true. All right. I have a motion to close the public hearing. I have a second from Mrs. Moss. All those board members who'd support closing the public hearing on the retained funds distribution. Please raise your hand. And that motion carries 5 to 0. The public hearing portion is closed. But as Misses Berry observed by statute, we still have 29 minutes available for someone who chooses to come and address the board. So the business item this evening has to do with the retained fund balance the district has and the impact of the potential legislation, house Bill 1610 and what that might mean and how the district might want to respond to that. So I'm going to I'm going to first say welcome back to the superintendent who has rejoined us after recovery. And she looks wonderful and thank you. And everything is going very well. 25 00:04:36,410 --> 00:04:37,370 So happy to be back. 26 00:04:37,370 --> 00:04:52,360 Best wishes to the superintendent. I'm going to recognize the Assistant superintendent for business operations. You're going to walk us through the worksheet that we have in front of us, and basically why we're here and what our options are. So if you would. 27 00:04:52,360 --> 00:05:47,000 Okay, so this evening at your seats was a worksheet that really gives us an overview of where we plan to be ending the year based on our most recent budget report, our financial report at the last board meeting. And so at this point, at the end of the year, we were estimating that we would still have about $550,000 unexpected funds from our appropriation. And we have not yet drawn the impact fees. And so right now, we are at a deficit right now of $350,000 on the revenue side of things, which leaves a balance of $200,000 between those two values without drawing the impact fees. Our budgetary commitment for next fiscal year when we presented our budget. 28 00:05:47,000 --> 00:05:59,880 We anticipated an unreserved fund balance of $784,732, S5: 29 00:05:59,880 --> 00:08:13,750 785, S5: 30 00:08:13,750 --> 00:08:17,910 That's the commitment plus the 1,000,004 97333. 31 00:08:17,910 --> 00:08:18,710 That's correct. 32 00:08:18,710 --> 00:08:19,270 Okay. 33 00:08:19,270 --> 00:12:05,380 Yeah. Um, and option two is we don't draw the $750,000 in impact fees because we have an awareness that that would just result in returning that to, um, if the retained funds are no longer allowed to be saved. And so that again, we would meet our commitment and have an additional almost $750,000 from the balances remaining. That would bring us to about $2.5 million returned. The challenge with each of those scenarios is that it will, um, negatively impact the tax rate from our perspective, because we would have kind of a little bit of a seesaw. And so the bottom of the page has a table to explain that. So, um, for the fiscal year 26 tax rate, that is $11.48, we projected, based on the valuation we had available at the time, that with our budget with a 5.4% change, it would be a $12.10 cent tax rate. Again, that's an estimate. But that was our best estimate when we prepared our budget materials. If we followed along with option one. The impact would certainly look better next year. Instead of a 5.4% impact, it would be a little bit less about 3.8%. But then the following year, using an assumption of a 3.75% increase for the 2728 budget, would then result in a significant swing up over 7%. Option two. Again, that's where we don't draw the impact fees, but we still are returning a considerable amount of funds back that we had not anticipated would have a slightly less significant impact on next year's budget, but still would have a pretty big sweep up the following year. So either way, it really is kind of a little bit of this, whereas we've been trying to really maintain the tax rate so that there's not this type of highs and lows happening. So also here are option two A and two B. Option two A suggests that we return exactly what we thought we would return. Um, we don't draw the retain the impact fees. And then this $750,000, about And three, three, three is something that the board tonight would authorize us to pre-purchase. Some things that were approved in the FY 27 budget, and perhaps look at some other items, too, that maybe we did not consider as part of that budget. Um, for example, um, Mr. Campbell suggested, you know, maybe some other things that we had taken out on Grant field lighting was one item, um, the Grant field sound system that we talked about early on in the budget but removed those from the budget. So those are options to consider by the board. An option to be is well, if we still thought we should use those impact fees, which I would not recommend. The recommendation would be option to a. The impact fees that we have are from the 2324 school year. We have up to six years to use those to apply toward debt service. And so we are in no shape, way or form of losing out on impact fees. So I do not feel there's any need for us to draw the $750,000 in impact fees at this time. We can use those in future budgets to help us offset the impact of whatever budgets we propose in the future. On the back side of the paper are some items that we could issue purchase orders between now and June 30th so that they would be impacting this year's budget rather than. And then they would mean we would spend a little bit less in fiscal year 27, because we had pre purchased some items with the retained funds that we otherwise would be returning. 34 00:12:05,380 --> 00:12:16,660 If House Bill 1610 S5: 35 00:12:16,660 --> 00:12:20,420 So climax workman's comp, what are we just paying? 36 00:12:20,420 --> 00:12:25,300 That's that is what we that's our amount that we pay. It's a one time payment we make each July. 37 00:12:25,300 --> 00:12:28,660 How aren't we already paying that, didn't we? 38 00:12:28,660 --> 00:12:34,940 Yes. So this would be next year's payment. We would prepay our workers comp prepay. 39 00:12:34,940 --> 00:12:36,180 Correct. In advance. 40 00:12:36,180 --> 00:12:45,460 Yeah. Which it was you know, we looked through larger items that were in the approved budget that we know we have to pay. Yes. Yes. 41 00:12:45,460 --> 00:12:53,020 So all I could think of as I started thinking about Senate bill, the House Bill 1610 was the, you know. 42 00:12:53,020 --> 00:12:54,740 The you know. 43 00:12:54,740 --> 00:13:16,060 Do you feel lucky in Clint Eastwood's movie? You know, do you feel lucky? Do you think it's going to pass or do you think it's going to fail? Um, obviously. Um, I would like to avoid the swings that that would come by dumping all of it into. 44 00:13:16,060 --> 00:13:38,890 All all of that money. So I, I think you're probably right about leaving the impact fees there. So it becomes a case of whether or not we want to think we can carry the 747,000 into next year in a retained fund, or whether we think we need to spend that money, I think, in order to not let it last. 45 00:13:38,890 --> 00:13:45,650 And I think there's really not much risk if we pre buy things that we already were planning to buy in next year's budget. It would mean we would. 46 00:13:45,650 --> 00:13:45,930 Have. 47 00:13:45,930 --> 00:13:46,890 Those funds we're. 48 00:13:46,890 --> 00:13:47,410 Building. 49 00:13:47,410 --> 00:13:51,330 For the end of 2020. Exactly 20 2027 2028. 50 00:13:51,330 --> 00:14:02,690 Correct. So we would then be able to say, you know, we can put the warrant article out, but if we don't need the warrant article, you would just tell us the following summer, we're going to put that back into retained fund balance if we don't need. 51 00:14:02,690 --> 00:14:03,890 Mr. Carney. 52 00:14:03,890 --> 00:14:24,570 I eliminate option one. I don't even I don't even want to talk about option. Okay. Now I can consider option 2 or 2 way or to be. Um, they each have their strengths and weaknesses. Um, but I think we just take option one right off the table, in my opinion. 53 00:14:24,570 --> 00:14:36,850 Anybody think otherwise or agree that that the, the, uh, the fact that we will be able to retain those funds and they will not lapse. I think that. 54 00:14:36,850 --> 00:15:34,650 Makes can I just have a moment to make sure this is for the public because we we worry about your tax rate. Trust me, we do. But we we look at it over. We want to keep an average tax rate. Okay. So the average is this we if we reduce your tax rate tremendously in one year that's that's that's a sugar high. We have to bring it up the same amount next year just to be even and then go above that. So if we reduce it quite a bit one year then the next year is going to be 7.89% just to stay even. And we don't think that's fair to you either. As a taxpayer it's hard to budget that. So that's why I'm saying get rid of option one. It would cause us too much. It's a roller coaster. Um, so I, I just think the public needs to understand that we're not trying to not help you with tax rates. We're trying to do it smoothly and not have a shock on anyone yet. Is that a fair statement? Mr. chairman. 55 00:15:34,650 --> 00:15:39,130 I think you think so. I think it's fair that you said that. Thank you. 56 00:15:39,130 --> 00:15:55,450 So now do we do do we do two or do we do two with some, some purchases pre purchases. And this is stuff we, we have budgeted. So we were going to spend it anyways. 57 00:15:55,450 --> 00:18:53,760 Mrs. Moss um I agree of getting rid of option one. I would also argue to um get rid of two B because I don't see a need to pull money from impact fees under this situation. So I feel like we're really between 2 and 2. A um, the thing that I think about is this retain fund balance in this money we have in the retained fund. Balance was approved by our voters. So our voters want us to have savings just in case. You know, I'm also looking at our 2025 2026 budget that's actually, you know, down like I know we got more revenue, but the actual expenses, if we exclude the impact fees that we were trying to take, you know, we run a very lean budget. Now, you know, we have a budget committee that scrutinizes it. We scrutinize it, you scrutinize it, we make sure, you know, we keep it as low as we can, which makes having those reserved funds all the more important. You know how many boilers broke this year and needed to be replaced? If we have a student that moves into the school district that is an out of district placement and that's multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars. If we don't have this money, then we're cutting programs, and I don't think our voters want us to do that. That's why they authorized us to have these retained funds. And given the situation that the state is putting us in, I think option two A makes the most sense because that allows us to maintain some amount of reserves. I don't agree with purchasing anything that we hadn't already approved. I don't think we should use this money to say, oh, let's go do a bunch of things that we decided we couldn't afford. And now, you know, treat it like free money. But for things that we were already going to approve, they were just going to buy them a couple days earlier so that in next year's budget we have a little bit of wiggle room, which again, our voters approved us having, I think is the most prudent way to go about it. That way, if this law doesn't pass, we just put that money back in at the very end of the year. If that law does end up passing, then we're going to have a vote in March that asks the voters Again, do you want to continue to retain these funds? And we wouldn't then have to, you know, return that money now and then reraise it, thus causing the, you know, the rate to go wonky. We would just take those monies that were already sort of built in because of these pre purchases, and then put it back into the retained fund. I think that's the most prudent option. I think that's what our voters would want us to do. And I think that provides us with a little bit of cushion just in case, you know, something happens that is unexpected during the year. 58 00:18:53,760 --> 00:18:56,360 Other comments Aaron. 59 00:18:56,360 --> 00:19:34,830 No, I pretty much agree with what Kelly was saying. I mean, I was definitely leaning towards to a, um, but only looking at stuff that we've been approved for the next fiscal year. Um, I don't think it makes sense to kind of go after anything that we haven't already accounted for. I know we did have a lot of conversations about Grant field a few months ago, but, um, I think it makes sense to, you know, purchase these a few whatever a week early, if we can. That way we have a little bit of room down the road. So that would be my recommendation. 60 00:19:34,830 --> 00:19:39,030 Mr. Carney. 61 00:19:39,030 --> 00:19:45,430 I agree in principle with the two of you were saying. 62 00:19:45,430 --> 00:19:50,830 But if we had known. 63 00:19:50,830 --> 00:20:12,590 Seven months ago that this could probably happen, we probably would have spent the money on the on the lighting and the sound system because we really wanted it. But we took it out because we didn't think the tax rate was was where we wanted it to be. Does that make it 1 million? 327. 445. 64 00:20:12,590 --> 00:20:23,470 Take out the. You're taking out the grand field lighting, the sound system and the CTE dishwasher. That's correct. 1,000,003 27445. 65 00:20:23,470 --> 00:20:36,510 Yeah, but I mean, I think, Michael, I think the number we're playing with, I think I think I hear a fair, strong consensus. The number we're looking to spend is the 747333. 66 00:20:36,510 --> 00:20:37,310 Correct. 67 00:20:37,310 --> 00:20:39,550 We have to pick items that right. 68 00:20:39,550 --> 00:20:48,790 Right right right. No. So I'm just I'm just coming up with if we take out everything, then we got a wish. We wish a million. Three. Two. Seven. Okay, so then we got to pick. 69 00:20:48,790 --> 00:22:37,620 Right. So I think the decision is do we want to reach for something that was not in next year's budget, in which case that would be let's just say the Grant field lighting. We didn't do the sound system. We just did the lighting. If we do that, then what's left is the five, four, seven, three, three, three. And then we just either we pick or we just tell Mrs. Payne to prepay something off this list to get to that number if we don't want to reach anything. Following Miss Moss's suggestion, if we don't want to reach anything that's not previously, that's not built into the 2627 budget. Um, then I think that's the decision. And then we just tasked the staff to prepay 744, $747,000 worth of expenses in the hopes that that 746 will be at the end of July of 2027, and either covering shortfalls in that budget or perhaps rolling over or going through this entire exercise again in a whole bunch of prepay every year to roll it forward, roll it forward, roll it forward. And again, that's it. Unfortunately, we have a legislature at the moment that is not real supportive of education, has no clue how the budgeting process works, and I think this whole issue has a lot of unanticipated consequences because I see districts throughout the state basically doing the same thing, either spending money to get it to zero or as this staff is recommending, which I think is prudent, rolling some of it forward into the next budget. 70 00:22:37,620 --> 00:22:49,420 No, I agree with everything he's saying. Um, I'm just struggling with the three items on this list. I. 71 00:22:49,420 --> 00:22:57,460 That weren't that weren't approved. And do we prioritize those at the expense of others? 72 00:22:57,460 --> 00:23:29,380 Well, 111 way to look at it is if we don't buy them, I assume we're going to ask the staff to put them into the 2728 budget and present them this fall. What do you all think the Budget Committee is going to say about that? If you think that that's going to get kicked and kicked and kicked, then maybe we should bite the bullet and buy them. Otherwise we have we'd have to make the commitment in the I mean, we postponed it. Um, I don't know if we can postpone it again. 73 00:23:29,380 --> 00:24:01,460 But I could argue. I could argue that we put it in the we put it in the next year's budget. They they put it out. It is a bottom line budget. If we feel it's important, we can we can then take out the money that gets approved. If we do this, the Budget Committee may say, well, that wasn't approved in the past, you know. So we're going to we're going to cut it even more next year. So you can't do it. You know what I just said, right? I don't know. I can't read the tea leaves. I'm just. 74 00:24:01,460 --> 00:24:04,570 All right. 75 00:24:04,570 --> 00:24:06,970 Other comments. Back to Kelly. 76 00:24:06,970 --> 00:24:45,170 Just just to respond. The the reason I'm concerned with spending that money is that leaves us only with $500,000 in emergency funds. So if there was something that was a significant like we this year, we have 2.2 million in our reserve fund, next year we would have basically 750,000. But if we spend 230 of it, we would only have, you know, that 500,000 left in wiggle room expenses, and we're over 350,000 in this year's budget. 77 00:24:45,170 --> 00:24:59,970 I agree with you, Kelly, and just but that's the goal. The stated goal of these laws is to. So we don't have this anymore. So I'm willing to say let's go with two way. 78 00:24:59,970 --> 00:25:00,530 All right. 79 00:25:00,530 --> 00:25:04,130 Okay I hear a but coming. 80 00:25:04,130 --> 00:25:14,770 And not supposed to say, but okay, take public speaking. They were supposed to say, but and we have a discussion on how we spend that. Okay. 81 00:25:14,770 --> 00:25:43,370 I think that's pretty clear. I I'm looking around the table. We'll take a motion to do that at some point, because we have to do it to withdraw the money. But so if you want to take that first and get it off the table, you can go ahead and take that. Make that motion to withdraw the, um, essentially the entire retained fund balance of the two two, 233 265. 82 00:25:43,370 --> 00:26:01,410 Um, part of that's going to go toward next year's budget in terms of revenue. And then the rest of it is going to go to be spent with 747,000 to be spent this year. Right. Is that what I understand. 83 00:26:01,410 --> 00:26:13,970 Yes. We actually wouldn't even need to re motion the, um, the first part. It really is just the allowing us the spending of the 747 RV retained funds. 84 00:26:13,970 --> 00:26:32,730 Well, I think I think from a policy standpoint, I'd like to have the board on the record to, to do that. So I understand your point. So something as simple as the board's going to adopt option two A and instruct the staff to proceed on that basis. 85 00:26:32,730 --> 00:26:57,010 Okay. I my motion I was just going to read what they wrote here. But if you wanted to say I recommend the Salem School. I'm making a motion that Salem School Board approved option two a as presented tonight that includes suspended of high retained funds, leaves impact fees flat and spends an additional $747,000. 86 00:26:57,010 --> 00:26:58,480 Was that a second? Misses Berry? 87 00:26:58,480 --> 00:26:59,200 Sure. 88 00:26:59,200 --> 00:27:42,440 Okay. I saw you waiver for discussion. For discussion. Misses Berry seconds. The motion. Is there any further member discussion on that issue? Understanding that we still have to go back and then revisit what we're going to do with $747,000. All those who support that motion, raise your hand. All right. So that has been decided. 89 00:27:42,440 --> 00:27:46,120 I think the next the next decision is, are we going to ask the staff to spend that amount only on items that are in the approved fiscal year 27 budget, or do we want to reach anything other than that? S1: 90 00:27:46,120 --> 00:27:52,920 Sure. I would motion that we spend the $747,333 91 00:27:52,920 --> 00:27:58,720 previously approved only on items that were budgeted for FY 27. 92 00:27:58,720 --> 00:28:08,120 Okay. Second down there. Second, we have a motion and a second. Further discussion. 93 00:28:08,120 --> 00:28:19,920 Everybody's pondering I'm giving everybody a moment. So in terms of in terms of exact items, do we need to do that or can we just task the staff and pick out and we'll let them figure out which ones? 94 00:28:19,920 --> 00:28:45,600 My personal preference would be. I'm not saying you have to do this is on stuff that we need, not prepay Prime X not you know what I mean by the books, by the stuff like that. And that way they're we're putting the money to use right away. Prime X were just saying, hey, it's your money for a year and we'll but that's my preference. You guys can do what you really need to do. 95 00:28:45,600 --> 00:28:49,360 All right. Seeing no further discussion then. 96 00:28:49,360 --> 00:28:50,440 I just want to say one thing. 97 00:28:50,440 --> 00:28:50,680 Yes. 98 00:28:50,680 --> 00:29:12,360 Misses Berry. I think it's really horrible That our legislature has put us in this position to have to do this. It's like it's almost like panic spending. So we don't lose it. And it's it's very distasteful and uncomfortable. 99 00:29:12,360 --> 00:29:40,400 But again, I want to stress we're not panic spending. We're managing the tax rate. That's what we're doing tonight. Right. I don't want to have people say, we'll read that the Salem School Board authorized all these expenditures because they got extra money. No, we're not doing that. We're managing the tax rate. We're keeping the tax rate on a on a reasonable in our opinion. We can disagree but a reasonable path. 100 00:29:40,400 --> 00:30:43,390 And I'll just say I was the one who at least suggested the discussion about the Grant field. I'm going to support the motion that's on the table. Um, we'll try again this fall. I hope board members will support it, and I hope if it doesn't get support from the Budget committee that we might put it back. Uh, because I think I think that we deferred it once and I think it needs to be done. But I will support the motion on the table. Any further discussion? All those who support the motion that's on the table, please raise your hand. That carries five zero. And so the staff, you have your direction. Um, I'd ask that you kind of give us a report next week as to what items you ended up paying with those monies, so that we know that going forward. Um, I, I don't I don't know that you'll have it by Thursday night. Just remember, I do have a budget committee meeting Thursday night. So if you could have a list. 101 00:30:43,390 --> 00:30:53,310 Could I just say what happens if we wake up on Friday because she tends to veto the bills Friday afternoon if you follow her. 102 00:30:53,310 --> 00:30:56,390 What if we wake up Friday afternoon and she vetoes the two bills? S7: 103 00:30:56,390 --> 00:30:57,430 We could reconsider. 104 00:30:57,430 --> 00:31:00,470 Reconsider this and say if she. 105 00:31:00,470 --> 00:31:02,190 Run its course. 106 00:31:02,190 --> 00:31:04,070 Well, I'm saying, you know. 107 00:31:04,070 --> 00:31:11,310 At the end of next year, we just put the money back and it's effectively like nothing has happened. 108 00:31:11,310 --> 00:31:12,190 Right. 109 00:31:12,190 --> 00:31:20,150 Sure could be. And we still don't know what our assessed value is going to be. Correct. That is a major wild card in this whole discussion. 110 00:31:20,150 --> 00:31:34,470 Yeah. All right. For now, the board has taken the action that was scheduled for tonight's meeting. Is there any other business that the administration wishes to at least raise at tonight's meeting, while you have us all? 111 00:31:34,470 --> 00:31:37,350 I do not believe so. All right. We were okay. 112 00:31:37,350 --> 00:31:40,670 And we thank you for that. 113 00:31:40,670 --> 00:31:50,030 I'm going to suggest we wait another 90s. And then the 30 minute, the 30, the 30 minute public comment period will have Expired. 114 00:31:50,030 --> 00:31:51,870 My watch is faster than us. 115 00:31:51,870 --> 00:31:52,910 Mrs. Walter. 116 00:31:52,910 --> 00:31:55,790 Mr. corny can say something. 117 00:31:55,790 --> 00:31:56,990 I got so. 118 00:31:56,990 --> 00:32:06,430 So I have a budget committee. Um, yeah, I can say something about the budget Committee. We are meeting Thursday night, which is a new kind of scheduling. 119 00:32:06,430 --> 00:32:08,310 Why on Thursday night? 120 00:32:08,310 --> 00:32:11,310 Um, the chairman wanted to move it to Thursday next. 121 00:32:11,310 --> 00:32:12,590 Chairman. 122 00:32:12,590 --> 00:32:12,990 What? 123 00:32:12,990 --> 00:32:14,190 The next chairman. 124 00:32:14,190 --> 00:32:15,230 Mr. 125 00:32:15,230 --> 00:32:16,910 Goodhue? S2: 126 00:32:16,910 --> 00:32:36,470 Yeah, he might have done it for the expo, and I will just. I want to advise all the board members we just received today from Mr. Goodhue. A tentative calendar for budgetary. This fall. I have forwarded that to the staff. And they have it, and they're looking at it and would probably be discussed. 127 00:32:36,470 --> 00:32:37,830 Any surprises? 128 00:32:37,830 --> 00:33:03,580 No. Not really. Pretty typical. They want the budget on the Friday before Thanksgiving, which is what we have been doing for a while now. Um, we will probably have our preliminary presentation on the Wednesday first Wednesday in December. The second meeting to discuss will follow the next night and then the budget final votes will be the following week. So about that. 129 00:33:03,580 --> 00:33:06,860 Have you notified them of our deliberative session? 130 00:33:06,860 --> 00:33:08,500 Yes, following our agreement. 131 00:33:08,500 --> 00:33:12,060 And I didn't check to see, but I assume that falls where they have it. 132 00:33:12,060 --> 00:33:13,780 Yes it does. All right. Calendar. 133 00:33:13,780 --> 00:33:18,540 The public comment period has now closed, and the chair will entertain a motion to adjourn. 134 00:33:18,540 --> 00:33:19,500 Motion to adjourn. 135 00:33:19,500 --> 00:33:19,500 I've got one for Misses Berry. I've got a second for Mrs. Moss. All those members who wish to adjourn, please raise your hand. And the Salem School Board stands adjourned. Thank you all very much. And enjoy your 4th of July weekend.
