[0:06] I was privileged to be able to volunteer
[0:09] on the advisory committee because it put me
[0:13] in a place where I could listen to
[0:16] my peers in the community, do my best
[0:19] to represent myself and those that I know
[0:22] that live in Siloam. When CPAC was put
[0:26] together, we really wanted to pick individuals that
[0:31] represented the entire community. So it is truly
[0:35] a community document. When I was asked to
[0:38] participate, I felt like it was a great
[0:42] opportunity for me to share what I've learned
[0:45] from living in the area all my life.
[0:47] We love this community and we really wanted
[0:49] to see us move forward in the best
[0:51] way possible and I think the city is
[0:53] real aware of that. We've got a lot
[0:55] of input from local community members. Those people
[0:59] having opportunities to come and give their input
[1:02] has set us on a plan for what
[1:05] Siloam needs and wants right now and into
[1:10] the future. For months this has all been
[1:12] on the website and they had several community
[1:14] meetings to bring people together and get their
[1:18] impression of what the city should look like
[1:20] in a few years. It was heard. I
[1:22] mean, were spreadsheets, there were comments that we
[1:25] got to read and see and that they're
[1:27] actually in the plan. I'm really excited about
[1:30] our trail system growing and becoming more connected.
[1:34] Maybe one of the things that I got
[1:36] the most excited about building and establishing kind
[1:39] of a community recreation center and theater space.
[1:43] Just to have a central place to be
[1:45] able to host festivals or just celebrate the
[1:48] diversity that is here in Siloam. Jen, we
[1:51] all know there's crises around housing being affordable,
[1:55] there being enough, and this plan has really
[1:58] good ideas for how that should look. If
[2:01] you haven't given your input yet, there's still
[2:03] time to do that. You can still get
[2:06] on the website and it's not anything that
[2:08] you have to be at a meeting to.
[2:10] You can just air your concerns there and
[2:12] we want to hear those. We'll be doing
[2:14] a final meeting that will be on May
[2:18] 19 in the Silent Strings Public Library and
[2:21] what that will include is really the final
[2:24] review of what we've accomplished so far. And
[2:28] yes, we're at the tail end of the
[2:29] process, but there's still an opportunity to address
[2:33] certain things. It's just important to let your
[2:36] voice be heard, there's still time and opportunity
[2:38] to do that. It just matters. The work
[2:40] matters.
