[0:23] Senator nozzolio and I have been [0:24] meeting on a regular basis to [0:26] try and make an agreement on [0:28] some of these difficult and [0:30] thorny issues that we face in [0:31] this budget. [0:33] And not unlike what's going on [0:36] upstairs at the general [0:38] conference committee, we have [0:41] been -- we have been [0:42] sometimeyed, and sometime we [0:45] have been successful and perhaps [0:47] able to agree on a lot of issues [0:49] but at this time, we're not [0:52] prepared to go forward with a [0:54] full agreement on the many [0:55] issues especially the financial [0:57] ones that are out there. [1:00] Given the fact that the general [1:01] conference committee has not [1:03] been able to agree on certain [1:08] factors that would affect the [1:10] trajectory of -- and thrust of [1:12] this public protection [1:13] conference committee. [1:16] So, what I'm saying is in final [1:18] analysis, we're going to have to [1:22] expect even harder work from the [1:24] staffs, who have been working [1:35] tirelessly, I have to say, in [1:37] agreements to us that are [1:38] palatable so we can close our [1:40] table but we're not ready yet to [1:42] stay let the conference [1:43] committee decide. [1:45] We believe we've been able to do [1:46] in the past. [1:48] Senator nozzolio and his [1:50] senators, and our assembly [1:52] members, have been able to make [1:56] an agreement that is capable of [1:58] being delivered to the general [1:59] conference committee, and have a [2:00] budget on time. [2:04] And I expect and I encourage the [2:06] staffs to work even harder than [2:09] they have in the past so that we [2:13] can be in a position to have a [2:18] budget by friday, in print, the [2:20] public protection enclosed [2:24] therein, and be able to pass a [2:26] complete budget on monday. [2:26] Senator nos. [2:28] >> thank you, senator. [2:31] I wish to thank our staffs on [2:32] both sides of the aisle [2:33] especially the staff that I have [2:35] the privilege of working with, [2:39] that we have made it a point to [2:42] them that unless we can get [2:44] agreement, immediately, that we [2:47] want you to continue to work [2:49] toward that objective that [2:50] heretofor the conference [2:52] committees have sort of closed [2:55] down as soon as there wasn't [2:59] agreement on most issues, and in [3:03] effect, we're not willing to. [3:04] Don't we'll continue our [3:05] discussions and we're asking our [3:07] staff to continue discussing the [3:09] issues that we have placed as [3:10] priority. [3:11] I would like to indicate we do [3:13] have a agreement on I would say [3:15] the vast majority of issues, [3:18] but, there are still very [3:19] important questions, questions [3:22] that members have raised at the [3:23] last meeting senator little and [3:25] I have discussed the issue of [3:26] prison closures. [3:29] We want our staffs to keep [3:34] working with us, to try to find [3:35] agreements, and we're not [3:37] willing to give up at this [3:37] point. [3:39] We think that we still have some [3:41] time, and we're going to take [3:44] that time and utilize it to try [3:46] to focus on our issues and get [3:47] them resolved. [3:50] With that, are there any other [3:52] members of the subcommittee [3:59] wishing to discuss any issues? [4:01] Hearing none, assemblyman lentol [4:05] I move this committee come as an [4:07] adjourned meeting until it is [4:08] recalled by the chairs. [4:12] >> yes, I concur in that and [4:14] again, staffs will report to us [4:17] on a regular basis about their [4:19] progress, and I expect that [4:20] we'll have another meeting soon. [4:21] Thank you.
