[0:00] percentage [0:04] I apologies to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic [0:10] for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and just for [0:17] all [0:29] right purpose of tonight's meeting is a public [0:35] hearing and this is on the peace boss which is transportation special purpose [0:43] local option sales tax [0:51] I mean he's interested in putting this on the ballot for this fall and in the [0:59] hopes that all the municipalities are in favor of this and they sent some [1:09] information out to it's all the cities and I pointed out the council that [1:16] in our case we would only use this for Road improvements [1:21] resurfacing and whatever repairs it would be necessary [1:27] and the projection is 130 million dollars [1:32] over the course of five years and the city of Stadium would [1:40] get 3.37 percent of that and that would work out to about [1:47] 876 every year for five years so [1:53] I guess to put that in perspective guesstimate for the section of Atlanta [1:59] Highway is about 1.2 million um and the guesstimation for totally [2:06] tournaments between four and five hundred thousand so it would definitely [2:13] help improve the roadways throughout the [2:16] county with all the county municipalities or [2:21] on board with this so I'm going to open up for discussion with the council at [2:27] this point work I guess we should have [2:35] um I need a motion to go into the public hearing make a motion thank you and all [2:42] those in favor um [2:47] so um [2:50] if any discussion as far as I forward or go on whatever I had when I got it [2:58] it's just a council members [3:01] yeah I think you know I think it could be here [3:05] excellent opportunity for the city Bobby [3:15] somebody remind us I know there was a page [3:23] recommendations about three council members [3:30] um no it was a week at the three council members went to the [3:36] comprehensive transportation for the overall accounting effect but one of the [3:41] things that with this tea Supply since you can you can name specific roads [3:47] but the recommendations that I've been given is [3:53] if you if you name specific roads then the money has to be a lot for those and [4:00] since our uh [4:04] Charter calls for anything over 25 000 of the Civil bid we don't know what it [4:10] will cost for Road Aid versus Road B so put it down that the monies will be used [4:18] for resurfacing uh roads throughout the city so if we made a specific Road [4:27] correct like [4:38] yeah yeah and we have we have approximately 23 miles of road that [4:43] we're responsible for but if it's you know if the council was thinking well [4:49] let's [4:58] flexibility but you know like anything the monies have to be accounted for so [5:06] we could show that for instance we have I'll make money to [5:10] go towards Hamilton Road the city has made the difference [5:15] but we show in our records we show that we spent say 60 000 of a hundred [5:22] thousand and now we make money when it's forty thousand five hundred towards that [5:29] we have the documentation so you know as long as the documentation is very [5:34] supportive of what the decision and council is gives us flexibility [5:39] this this road is in worse shape than what we thought [5:44] so we're going to do that one first and then we'll schedule it [5:48] accounting so I'm throwing hot lock into a certain amount of time [5:54] in in the probably [5:58] dueling town will be one of the first since we've already got a commitment to [6:03] do Hammond Road but you know if you can say that and that's the only thing that [6:10] you can use it for yeah any one that would like to speak [6:16] from the audience in reference to this no one signed up [6:26] could you Scott [6:29] okay excellent opportunity [6:35] so it was really something that the citizens make about it on what it is for [6:41] coming after this is all about [6:45] and and it would you know this would free up city tax dollars that [6:52] could be used for other things because uh [6:57] you know this this would definitely assist [7:00] we can work on sidewalks and are absolutely yeah [7:08] I I'm all for it I think that this is you know [7:13] I think we tried to do it and we did it as a region and it didn't pass in our [7:18] mind County Wide I'm hopeful because the way the roads look right now I can't [7:33] so this would be right [7:42] I think without pictures [8:02] I don't believe that the text Jordan I might be able to get an answer but I [8:08] don't believe we have we have in the Parks where we have money to set aside [8:13] in the budget to take care of that one welcome [8:17] bridge that goes into a proper private part that people use with the golf cart [8:23] yeah I'm walking transportation for cars and trucks [8:33] [Music] amazing [8:37] skirts but [8:43] I know that goes through the bridges as well [8:50] a year for five years it's supposed to be a five-year plan no more than five [8:56] year I've read in this that says that they're anticipated uh [9:03] 100 [9:07] and then it breaks it down to of course Barrow County would would get [9:14] 72.49 [9:19] three um then Auburn [9:23] 6.43 uh city of Stadium at 3.37 and that works out to four [9:41] yeah a lot of lot of usable money I think our three biggest roads in the 23 [9:49] miles Road system would be the Atlanta Highway duallytown [9:55] and I believe uh Hamlin and uh problems probably be a toast a close tie [10:04] and then you know we have you know like Mulberry it's getting pretty bad and [10:11] Price Street a lot of these other ones but you know we haven't been able to do [10:16] anything well [10:20] everywhere there was a sewer line tap um [10:34] especially when the subdivision start and all the way out of time abroad [10:41] so it sounded like um we're probably like this leader [10:45] pretty broad with broad projects yeah and I'll find out when we and it's [10:52] probably when we you know do the resolution and because we'll have that [10:58] into the to the county and uh keep their regulator on it in August so [11:05] this is our second public hearing we'll have another public [11:11] hearing problem conversation and then it can be voted on [11:19] in time for the county so because they have a certain number of [11:25] days to get [11:33] thank you for being a definitely would help and if if it freed some tax dollars [11:39] it can be used to be used more pressing things within the city [11:45] of engaged across the board game changer for staff so [11:51] then this cost money is a will help as far as it happens when we get the [12:00] silver bought me that would really help with them [12:07] before you had studies as long as a work session for kind of the sorry [12:13] interesting because yeah [12:19] you know other discussions no pros and no problems [12:25] World many times well [12:29] I'll ask for a motion to go out of public hearing okay [12:35] and always in favor [12:41] no citizen input [12:46] questions and all those in favor [12:54] thank you thanks Scott [13:01] thank you
