busy month January started off with the

well attended and successful I believe

250th anniversary of our fire department
[0:34] which will there'll be a lot of activity
going on in the coming months through
[0:38] the year to celebrate that 250th
anniversary quite remarkable that the
[0:43] the
uh the fire department was in in service
[0:49] before the
town Town's 130 years old and it's 250 I
[0:54] think it's 150 I think I'm just I added
100 years thing what can I say uh
[1:00] 150 so the fire department's 150 years
old the town's 130 years old this year
[1:05] so fire fire department preceded the
actual Town
[1:11] status um other than that lots of things
in my report which I
[1:18] search um call on then Deputy Mayor
Murphy uh thank you worship uh pretty
[1:23] busy mon this month attended the
recreation meeting special council
[1:27] meeting police commission committee the
whole Clen Haven uh the L for the P
[1:31] County partnership and head the military
museum yearly review uh and the asset
[1:37] managed me just a couple of highlights
from uh the Glenn Haven and the P County
[1:43] partnership uh Glenn Haven achieved
accreditation status so all that work we
[1:48] did last year is uh pay to coition our
uh status is great uh began the initial
[1:55] engag in developing a new strategic plan
Administration
[2:00] uh required board membership uh km
training planned for April 25th there
[2:06] are no V vacancies to report uh
financial report update uh expecting a
[2:11] favorable result for year end uh more
detail will be available after the
[2:14] audence state are available but right
now it's looking it's looking positive
[2:19] uh did receive a couple complaints from
family members of residents regarding
[2:21] Lial care was distracted by by Haven
administrator uh Steve scal to have the
[2:28] contact the direct of residence care and
they're investigating that so um um P
[2:34] County partnership um very active had
their quarterly meeting uh intern CEO
[2:39] way tibo has been appointed uh by the
board of directors as a new CEO of the P
[2:44] County partnership replacing Scott
Ferguson recently
[2:48] resigned as the former Director of
Business Development WS a strong
[2:51] understanding of the efforts required
for economic development at the
[2:54] Grassroots level and was unanimously
endorsed by the
[2:58] L uh annual provincial conference uh was
a hug success uh bu setting the bar for
[3:04] future provincial conferences uh by the
Rens was well attended and also
[3:10] generated over $887,000 spent in P
County um P County parnership also
[3:18] represent many P County businesses in
Halifax small business popups they call
[3:22] the pop can on the halifa waterfront um
where they took in products from local
[3:27] businesses here and sold them and
promoted them on their behalf uh very
[3:32] successful and probably looking to again
the summer by some next year um they're
[3:36] also doing a series of succession
workshops uh the idea to keep long
[3:41] serving businesses from closing up shop
um when they started this process the
[3:45] big thing they they discovered was that
a lot of businesses that been around for
[3:50] a while didn't really have good um
appreciated what their business was
[3:55] actually wor so U they're doing that as
a a uh as a starting
[4:01] point and then from there the goal is to
have some these long-term businesses
[4:06] would have a strong market share if they
don't have a success with planand then
[4:09] you lose that business in the community
where it could be something that could
[4:12] be marketed to employees or other local
businessmen or people want to move to
[4:17] the area they want to purchase and
establish business so um on the other
[4:22] side of the coin they're also doing
entrepreneural sessions uh those who
[4:26] want to start business were lack lacking
the knowledge uh
[4:30] and also those that are want to start a
business and unsure what what Market
[4:33] would be best to go into uh they have
side hustle program uh programs help
[4:39] side hustle business take that next step
to uh to uh developing their business
[4:45] into something and something
more uh got too many points here I'll
[4:50] Just sh this out
um oh the uh developing a new resource
[4:56] tool you will appreciate this worship um
being developed to outline the assets of
[5:00] each municipality to have a single
source of marketing our our County so
[5:05] they be reaching out to administrations
to looking for kind of like the
[5:08] inventory that we're currently taking
now to Market ourselves they want to
[5:12] have a central point which is
that and I was thinking the other day
[5:17] looking back and we originally started
the economic working group and you look
[5:22] at all the plans and all the things
steps they're taking now many of those
[5:26] were on our wish list when we started
say you know what do we want R to look
[5:30] like U the province is uh very impressed
with the work being done by the
[5:34] partnership um and a lot of these
programs they've been asked to be kept
[5:38] arrest up because they're successible um
they might want to use the same type of
[5:42] programs and the other rents across
profs to kind of standardize
[5:45] it um last piece the uh new inter
intermunicipal 5e agreement will be
[5:51] going up to the C don't have that yet
see you soon um the idea is multi-year
[5:57] agreement to assist involment help
provide a good basis we we try to get
[6:02] leverage more money from the provs right
so uh and met da Avery expressed his
[6:08] Happ over another successful year with
the p
[6:11] County uh Military
Museum uh also ear this month got the
[6:16] opportunity to go to Wi to join in the
final expe inspection of the new fire
[6:20] truck uh as far as the agreement the
supper offered to host three of the
[6:23] department the manufacturing plant very
interesting very busy spot uh the truck
[6:28] itself is fantastic we should see it
here next
[6:33] week last thing um the only of the main
isues I heard from citizen this month
[6:39] revolved around the increase in the
assessments and they P down their taxes
[6:43] that they pay and what I've explained to
them pvsc being pvsc being the a third
[6:50] party imponent body that does the
assessments we don't really have to
[6:53] control that the only weu controls to
ensure that we do whatever we can not
[6:57] increase our tax rate so that's that's
pretty much all I been guarante
[7:02] so and was tomorrow night 7: p.m.
westool police station all are

rather extensive report uh I I just one
[7:13] comment or two comments number one on
the pict County partnership you know I I
[7:19] think we let's let's be honest here uh
this Council among other councils at
[7:24] some point in time during the past few
years questioned the the value and and
[7:29] and what the partnership was actually
doing and one of the one of the concerns
[7:33] we had was the lack of reporting and
information as to what exactly was going
[7:38] on uh and through uh representative
Deputy Mayor the information you just
[7:44] provided that that's what we were
looking for uh I think it's safe to say
[7:48] now that most the people around Council
tables P the county say uh this was a
[7:55] great thing that we that we have here at
pcta County and and they're doing great
[7:58] work
um and a lot of it is the development of
[8:03] looking out these small businesses that
places you know need need help in a lot
[8:08] of ways so very happy to hear that
partnership is doing great things at
[8:13] Victor County uh and hope it continues
for a long time um and the other comment
[8:20] I wanted to make mayor was with regard
to Glen Haven uh because you know people
[8:25] are aware the GL Haven is being replaced
and that's going to close at some point
[8:28] time
relatively near future new facility is
[8:31] going to be built um and at that time
when that closes we as a town Westville
[8:38] will no longer be a c owner of of the of
that facility so if people AR where what
[8:46] has existed during the time of Cl Haven
is the fact that the towns of Westville
[8:53] ston New Glasco uh and
Trenton are the owners of Glen and
[9:02] therefore set on the board and
representatives on the board which
[9:06] Deputy Mayor represented currently on
that board but that will cease once the
[9:10] Glen Haven closes and do fail online so
just just a little background
[9:15] information that people probably aren't
aware of it was our decision not to be
[9:19] an owner by the way we we feel we felt
as a council we don't want to be in that
[9:25] business of providing longterm
care business and as far as I understand
[9:31] the current board will be sit as
required until they compl the transition
[9:36] right yeah there'll be some time yet oh
yes yeah definitely anyway that's uh
[9:41] appreciate that uh councelor Clary
mcken thank you your worship uh I think
[9:48] it was uh a normal month and I usually
just say that I attended all the uh
[9:56] meetings that I was supposed to but to
give a little flavor of the monthly life
[10:02] of the counselor I think I'll just
mention them without going
[10:06] into much
detail but uh the levy is as you
[10:12] mentioned your worship was outstanding
the fact that we had people there that
[10:18] were newcomers as recent as uh just a
few months and they were interested
[10:24] enough in coming out
[10:27] to the second uh event or uh meeting
that I attended as the representative of
[10:35] Town Council on the Riverview home
corporation uh we are moving ahead with
[10:43] implementing the remedy report and uh uh
slowly moving out uh residents from the
[10:51] adult residential
Center attended the uh special meeting
[10:58] of uh
Council uh the next night the police
[11:04] commission and one thing I would like to
mention there is that there were only
[11:10] 108 calls in
