[3:03]
Hey, good evening. Uh, this evening at
[3:06]
5:00 p.m. we'll convene the regular
[3:08]
meeting of the GIL Township Election
[3:10]
Commission. I'll call the meeting to

pledge of allegiance.
[3:19]
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the

under God, indivisible, with liberty and
[3:30]
justice for all.
[3:33]
Okay, roll call. There's only three of
[3:36]
us on this commission, so I see uh
[3:38]
Supervisor Porzelli to my left and
[3:40]
Treasure Flavin further to my left.

[4:12]

[4:13]
» All in favor?
[4:13]
>> I.
[4:14]
» I.
[4:14]
>> All right. And action items. First one
[4:16]
» All right. And action items. First one
[4:16]
is the election commission authorized
[4:18]
assistant. Do you want to take the first
[4:20]

[4:53]
>> Second.

[4:54]
>> All right. All in favor?
[4:56]
» All right. All in favor?
[4:56]
>> I I motion carries.
[5:01]
Next one to you, Mr. Supervisor.
[5:05]
Uh that would be the recommendation is
[5:07]
to establish the following absent
[5:09]
counting boards for August 4th, 2026
[5:12]
primary election. Uh number one, AVCB1,
[5:17]
AVCB2,
[5:19]
ABCB3.
[5:21]
So I'm assuming those are the
[5:24]
like serial numbers to the machines.
[5:26]
>> So that's absent voting, counting board
[5:29]
» So that's absent voting, counting board
[5:29]
one, absent voting, county board two,
[5:30]
absent. So we have three of them.
[5:32]
All right. Can I get a second?
[5:35]
>> Second.
[5:36]

[5:43]
» I motion carries and then over to you,
[5:43]
Treasurer Flavin.

[6:00]
inspectors and receiving board officials
[6:04]
for the August 4th, 2026 primary

[6:11]
>> Thank you.
[6:11]
» Thank you.
[6:11]
>> All right. Now on the next page of the

» All right. Now on the next page of the
[6:13]
packet, you can see several individuals
[6:15]
that are assigned to precinct
[6:17]
inspectors, early voting inspectors,
[6:19]
absency counting board inspectors, and
[6:22]
then the receiving board. Any further
[6:25]
discussion on that?
[6:26]
>> No. Nope.
[6:27]
» No. Nope.
[6:27]
>> All right. All in favor?
[6:29]
» All right. All in favor?
[6:29]
>> I. All opposed?
[6:30]
» I. All opposed?
[6:30]
>> Nay. Oh, no. No.
[6:32]
» Nay. Oh, no. No.
[6:32]
>> No. No.
[6:34]
» No. No.
[6:34]
>> All eyes.
[6:34]
» All eyes.
[6:34]
>> And one more, please.
[6:36]
» And one more, please.
[6:36]
>> Emergency election inspectors,
[6:38]
» Emergency election inspectors,
[6:38]
chairpeople, and receiving board
[6:39]
officials. Recommendation to follow to
[6:42]
allow the clerk and or deputy clerk to
[6:44]
appoint qualified and registered
[6:46]
emergency election inspectors,
[6:48]
chairpeople and/or receiving board
[6:50]
members as needed for the August 4th,
[6:53]
2026 primary election.
[6:55]
>> Second.
[6:56]
» Second.
[6:56]
>> Any discussion?
[6:58]
» Any discussion?
[6:58]
>> No, sir.
[6:59]
» No, sir.
[6:59]
>> All in favor? I
[7:00]
» All in favor? I
[7:00]
>> I.
[7:01]
» I.
[7:01]
>> All right. Motion carries. There are no
[7:03]
» All right. Motion carries. There are no
[7:03]
discussion items there. I mean, does
[7:06]
anybody want to provide a report?
[7:07]
>> No.
[7:08]
» No.
[7:08]
>> No. Okay. Uh uh still no public comment.
[7:12]
» No. Okay. Uh uh still no public comment.
[7:12]
We will move immediately after this we
[7:14]
will move into a study session to
[7:17]
conduct the August 4th 2026 primary
[7:20]
election public accuracy test. So at
[7:23]
this time I would accept a motion to
[7:25]
adjurnn.
[7:26]
>> Motion to adjourn the regular meeting.
[7:29]
» Motion to adjourn the regular meeting.
[7:29]
>> Second. All in favor?
[7:32]
» Second. All in favor?
[7:32]
>> I I All right. The regular meeting is
[7:34]
» I I All right. The regular meeting is
[7:34]
closed and we are now in study session
[7:35]
to conduct the primary election public
[7:37]
accuracy test. Over to you, Mr. Freel.
[7:44]
» I said to run down the hall. I had the
[7:46]
ballots locked up in the room, so let me
[7:48]
go grab them.
[7:57]
Um,
[7:59]
I was going to ask you something, but
[8:00]
that's all right. We're good.
[8:15]
I didn't prepare a comedy bit or
[8:17]
anything to
[8:23]
do. You need a hand, brain.
[8:26]
>> All right.
[8:27]
» All right.
[8:27]
>> You want us down there, correct?
[8:29]
» You want us down there, correct?
[8:29]
>> Yes, please.
[8:33]
» That one working. There we go. All
[8:36]
right. Yes. So, I'm going to ask you
[8:37]
guys to come down.
[8:38]
>> I'm not going to scream into this.
[8:39]
» I'm not going to scream into this.
[8:39]
Sorry, Mike and Lori in the control
[8:41]
room.
[8:47]
» We need pens or anything, Brian?
[8:49]
>> Uh, no. I've got pens.
[8:51]
» Uh, no. I've got pens.
[8:51]
All right. So, basically what we're
[8:52]
going to do here today is we're going to
[8:54]
test our early voting tabulator and our
[8:58]
one of our precinct tabulators. This is
[8:59]
a precinct 3. I grabbed um our ballot on
[9:02]
demand system and our uh voter assist
[9:06]
terminal. Okay. Um basically what we're
[9:10]
going to do um we'll print a test ballot
[9:13]
out of the voter assist terminal. We'll
[9:15]
print one ballot out of each precinct
[9:17]
for the ballot on demand to prove that
[9:20]
it is testing or it is printing properly
[9:21]
and doing what it's functioning the way
[9:23]
it's supposed to. And then we will run
[9:25]
predetermined ballots through these two
[9:27]
tabulators to make sure that the test
[9:29]
comes out accurate. Okay. Um I've
[9:32]
obviously pre-ested them and it came out
[9:34]
accurate, but we will do it now for the
[9:35]
public. Um there is a testing procedure
[9:40]
created by the state of Michigan um that
[9:42]
we have to follow for every election to
[9:45]
uh make sure that the they all not only
[9:47]
do they just function properly, you
[9:49]
know, buttons working, sound working, um
[9:52]
but to make sure that they're marking
[9:54]
the ballots correctly. All right. So we
[9:57]
predetermine
[9:58]
what candidates going to get how many
[10:00]
votes and they all have a different
[10:02]
number of votes so that when we run
[10:03]
these and print it off it comes out
[10:05]
exactly the way we pred predetermined
[10:08]
it. Okay. Um so let me get these open
[10:11]
and we can start doing that. I'm going
[10:13]
to have you guys actually start running
[10:15]
these.
[10:19]
» This is new equipment this year, right?
[10:21]
>> No, not yet.
[10:30]
No, we can get down there after this.
[10:45]
» All right. So, I did have the tabulators
[10:47]
uh already plugged in, so we didn't have
[10:49]
to go through the whole uploading
[10:51]
process because it does take a second.
[10:53]
Um, so what I'll do is I will open the
[10:55]
poles on each of them, start running the
[10:56]
zero tapes.
[11:04]
Once these zero tapes are run, the
[11:06]
election commission is going to review
[11:07]
them to make sure uh, one, there's no
[11:10]
votes on them already. They should all
[11:11]
be zero. Um, and two, that all the
[11:15]
candidates match the candidates that are
[11:17]
on the ballot. So, I'll give you each a
[11:18]
ballot and you can go through it.
[11:59]
So you can see there's essentially out
[12:02]
of a
[12:04]
so you can see governor candidate well
[12:07]
actually you can see the uh totals and
[12:09]
then governor candidates United States
[12:12]
senator and it go it'll go through the
[12:14]
democratic representatives and then it
[12:17]
will go to the pump representatives
[12:19]
and then other
[12:30]
all
[12:39]
So, we're looking to make sure there are
[12:40]
no votes,
[12:41]
>> right? And then I'm then I'm going to
[12:43]
» right? And then I'm then I'm going to
[12:43]
hand you guys a ballot and I will have
[12:44]
you just make sure that all candidates
[12:46]
listed on this ballot also are listed on
[12:49]
that tape.
[12:50]
>> They don't have to be in the same order,
[12:52]
» They don't have to be in the same order,
[12:52]
but they all have to be
[12:55]
>> because they do flip around the order
[12:56]
» because they do flip around the order
[12:56]
depending on what precinct you're in.
[12:59]
All right. All zeros, which is correct,
[13:02]
right?
[13:04]
>> That is you have precinct 3, I believe.
[13:06]
» That is you have precinct 3, I believe.
[13:06]
Is that correct?
[13:07]
>> Yes, that's precinct three.
[13:09]
» Yes, that's precinct three.
[13:09]
>> Okay.
[13:10]
» Okay.
[13:10]
>> And this is
[13:14]
tabular 191.
[13:26]
Here's a present. does have marks on
[13:29]
sign. Don't worry about that.
[13:34]
» So now we got to compare
[13:36]
>> and then
[13:38]
» and then
[13:38]
>> we got
[13:41]
so
[13:45]
» EV12
[13:48]
governor. We got one,
[13:50]
>> right? So uh so this is the early voting
[13:53]
» right? So uh so this is the early voting
[13:53]
tabulator. So it literally is all three
[13:55]
precincts in one. Um, so we're just
[13:58]
going to look at the ballot for precinct
[14:00]
one to make sure everybody's on there.
[14:09]
» Govern
[14:17]
United States Senator Democrats, we got
[14:21]
Moral Stevens.
[14:23]
And then sixth district uh
[14:26]
representative we got Dingle. That's it.
[14:30]
>> State senator. Fourth district we got
[14:32]
» State senator. Fourth district we got
[14:32]
Camelary.
[14:34]
>> These are just Democrats.
[14:37]
» These are just Democrats.
[14:37]
>> Representative state legislature. 27th
[14:39]
» Representative state legislature. 27th
[14:39]
district. We got churches only.
[14:42]
>> All right. County Executive. We got
[14:44]
» All right. County Executive. We got
[14:44]
Evans
[14:46]
John
[14:47]
Sigma.
[14:49]
That's it. Got two for
[14:53]
Republican.
[14:54]
>> Oh, no. They're down here.
[14:55]
» Oh, no. They're down here.
[14:55]
>> Okay.
[14:55]
» Okay.
[14:55]
>> Yeah, they're down here.
[14:59]
» County Executive Evans
[15:03]
Sigma
[15:11]
» uh delegates county convention growil. I
[15:14]
got uh Domino, Leon, or Banny.
[15:18]
>> Only three, right?
[15:19]
» Only three, right?
[15:19]
>> Yes.
[15:20]
» Yes.
[15:20]
Now for the Republican electoral groups
[15:24]
that James
[15:27]
United States Senator Rogers only
[15:32]
>> uh six district
[15:35]
» uh six district
[15:35]
>> you need
[15:37]
» you need
[15:37]
precinct one
[15:38]
>> this is precinct two that's precinct
[15:40]
» this is precinct two that's precinct
[15:40]
three so you'll skip past those go to
[15:41]
that
[15:50]
only
[15:51]
>> county executive. We got
[16:00]
executive. Is this Michael Evans?
[16:04]
Republican. This is correct. Michael
[16:06]
Evans and Warren. Warren is a Democrat,
[16:09]
right?
[16:11]
>> So, the one running against them is
[16:12]
» So, the one running against them is
[16:12]
Michael Evans. Warren Evans.
[16:14]
>> I don't Yeah. Okay. I don't know who.
[16:16]
» I don't Yeah. Okay. I don't know who.
[16:16]
I'm sure they're
[16:16]
>> the names correct, right?
[16:18]
» the names correct, right?
[16:18]
>> Yes. Yeah, there is a Michael Evans on
[16:20]
» Yes. Yeah, there is a Michael Evans on
[16:20]
there.
[16:23]
>> No idea.
[16:29]
» There are no votes cast.
[16:31]
>> That's not right.
[16:32]
» That's not right.
[16:32]
>> Okay, this matches the ballots and there
[16:34]
» Okay, this matches the ballots and there
[16:34]
are no votes cast.
[16:42]
» Do we need to sign these tickets?
[16:44]
>> Um,
[16:46]
» Um,
[16:46]
yes, we can. Uh so we can sign when
[16:49]
we're done. Okay. Um that way we get
[16:51]
through the bulk in this first and then
[16:53]
we'll
[17:06]
» Evan.
[17:16]
» All right. We reviewed and came out with
[17:19]
>> this is good.
[17:20]
» this is good.
[17:20]
>> Everything's good. Okay. So, both
[17:22]
» Everything's good. Okay. So, both
[17:22]
>> reviewing it.
[17:23]
» reviewing it.
[17:23]
>> So, precinct one, precinct 3 went
[17:25]
» So, precinct one, precinct 3 went
[17:25]
through them. Everything's good. Um, now
[17:27]
we'll start running ballots. Um,
[17:30]
basically the way this works, um, with
[17:32]
the predetermined test,
[17:39]
um, with the predetermined test, um,
[17:42]
it's going to have scenarios. The first
[17:44]
12 ballots are a full scenario. So,
[17:46]
you're going to have um a blank ballot.
[17:50]
You're going to have a ballot with um uh
[17:53]
stray marks. You're going to have a
[17:55]
ballot that's from a different precinct
[17:57]
to show that precinct 3 can't take a
[17:59]
ballot from another precinct. Obviously,
[18:01]
the early voting one can take a ballot
[18:03]
from all of them. So, we'll have to skip
[18:04]
that one when we do that one because
[18:05]
early voting is all three precincts in
[18:07]
one. Um it will have um overvoting
[18:12]
the partisan section Democrat. It'll
[18:16]
have over voting the Republican section
[18:17]
Dem uh it'll have over voting the um
[18:23]
what are they called? The the uh the
[18:26]
millages or the proposals. Um, so it's
[18:29]
gonna go the first 12 are scenarios and
[18:31]
then after that it's all about having no
[18:35]
candidate within a section having the
[18:37]
same amount of votes so that we know
[18:39]
exactly how it's going to turn out. So
[18:40]
if two people had
[18:41]
>> So if two people had eight votes, you
[18:43]
» So if two people had eight votes, you
[18:43]
wouldn't be able to tell for sure if the
[18:44]
tabulator did it correctly or not. So at
[18:47]
that point, we're just trying to line
[18:48]
them up so they're all getting a
[18:49]
different number of votes so that we
[18:50]
know exactly how this is going to turn
[18:52]
out. Um,
[18:56]
» okay. So,
[18:58]
>> I'll just move this over here. Whoever
[19:00]
» I'll just move this over here. Whoever
[19:00]
you two are going to run those. So, what
[19:01]
we're going to do, the first page, it's
[19:03]
just directions, and I'm going to walk
[19:04]
you through it. So, you can skip that
[19:05]
one. So, your tablet is going to move
[19:07]
way faster than mine. I'm just going to
[19:09]
let you know it's a newer version of the
[19:12]
um
[19:13]
All right. So, mine says, I don't want
[19:15]
any more copies. Does yours ask you if
[19:17]
you want more copies?
[19:19]
>> All right, perfect. So, system ready.
[19:20]
» All right, perfect. So, system ready.
[19:20]
So, we're going to take our first
[19:21]
ballot. I can tell on this one, the
[19:23]
first ballot is a complete overvote of
[19:26]
the Democratic partisan section and the
[19:30]
uh proposals. Okay. So, every single
[19:32]
oval in those two are are filled in.
[19:35]
>> Yeah, it's every single oval in those
[19:37]
» Yeah, it's every single oval in those
[19:37]
two sections. So,
[19:39]
>> we're going to put that in.
[19:41]
» we're going to put that in.
[19:41]
>> Where's the answer?
[19:42]
» Where's the answer?
[19:42]
>> Tabler's going to beep at you. Yours is
[19:45]
» Tabler's going to beep at you. Yours is
[19:45]
beeping a lot faster than mine and it's
[19:46]
going to tell you that you have we have
[19:48]
an overvote found. Okay. All right. So,
[19:52]
we are just going to make it. We're
[19:53]
going to have it cast that ballot. Yeah.
[19:55]
Yours actually is a little
[19:57]
>> Yep. So, we'll hit cast. It's going to
[20:00]
» Yep. So, we'll hit cast. It's going to
[20:00]
take it. All right. Now, the next ballot
[20:03]
I can see is a complete overvote of the
[20:05]
Republican section.
[20:07]
>> So,
[20:09]
» So,
[20:09]
>> right at the polls, if you were to walk
[20:11]
» right at the polls, if you were to walk
[20:11]
up in the tab BPA, you said overvote, we
[20:13]
would then give you the option, would
[20:14]
you like to get that ballot back?
[20:16]
>> Get a new ballot.
[20:18]
» Get a new ballot.
[20:18]
>> Fix your fix it. All right. get right.
[20:21]
» Fix your fix it. All right. get right.
[20:21]
It would be right. Or you could look at
[20:23]
it and say, "Well, it's maybe it's only
[20:25]
one little section. I don't care about
[20:27]
that section, so I'm just going to let
[20:28]
it be because everything else will
[20:29]
count."
[20:30]
>> You know, so there there are
[20:32]
» You know, so there there are
[20:32]
>> All right.
[20:33]
» All right.
[20:33]
>> This one is a
[20:35]
» This one is a
[20:36]
>> that's an over.
[20:36]
» that's an over.
[20:36]
>> It's going to be over vote of Republican
[20:38]
» It's going to be over vote of Republican
[20:38]
and the proposals. So, we're going to
[20:40]
cast that.
[20:45]
» All right. The next one is going to be
[20:47]
the stray marks one. I know it looks
[20:48]
kind of funny.
[20:51]
But it should tell me it's a blank
[20:53]
ballot
[20:54]
>> once it goes in.
[20:57]
» once it goes in.
[20:57]
Blank ballot detected. Okay. Because it
[20:59]
just has has stray marks on it. Nothing
[21:01]
none of the ovals were actually filled
[21:02]
in.
[21:03]
>> Right.
[21:03]
» Right.
[21:03]
>> And we're going to cast that.
[21:05]
» And we're going to cast that.
[21:05]
>> Everything will be cast, just so you
[21:06]
» Everything will be cast, just so you
[21:06]
know.
[21:08]
>> I got confused.
[21:09]
» I got confused.
[21:09]
>> All right. Ballot number four is
[21:12]
» All right. Ballot number four is
[21:12]
literally a it is a blank ballot. No
[21:14]
votes cast on it.
[21:15]
>> Nothing.
[21:15]
» Nothing.
[21:15]
>> So it should beep at us and let us know
[21:17]
» So it should beep at us and let us know
[21:17]
that we have a blank ballot. ballot
[21:19]
detected.
[21:20]
>> Correct.
[21:21]
» Correct.
[21:21]
>> Yep.
[21:22]
» Yep.
[21:22]
>> And then we cast them.
[21:27]
» Got two there.
[21:28]
>> All right. Ballot number five. Looks
[21:30]
» All right. Ballot number five. Looks
[21:30]
like we have an overvote in the
[21:32]
Republican partisan section and the
[21:34]
proposals are correct.
[21:40]
» You have chose two. You are allowed one.
[21:44]
>> Yeah. Yeah.
[21:45]
» Yeah. Yeah.
[21:45]
>> So, we have an over vote. I could hit
[21:47]
» So, we have an over vote. I could hit
[21:47]
more and it'll give me way more
[21:49]
information, but um for our purposes, we
[21:52]
know it is detecting overvote, which is
[21:53]
what it is.
[21:58]
All right, ballot number six. I have an
[22:00]
overvote in just the partisan section
[22:02]
and or I'm sorry, in the proposal
[22:04]
section. Republican
[22:06]
>> section is correct. I know you guys are
[22:07]
» section is correct. I know you guys are
[22:07]
going to get way ahead of me.
[22:09]
>> We'll stay We'll stay with you so you
[22:10]
» We'll stay We'll stay with you so you
[22:10]
can
[22:11]
>> Yeah.
[22:12]
» Yeah.
[22:12]
>> And we have an over vote. We know where
[22:14]
» And we have an over vote. We know where
[22:14]
it's going to be. the number behind the
[22:18]
>> So, it's going to tell you how many how
[22:21]
» So, it's going to tell you how many how
[22:21]
many of those
[22:23]
>> areas are overvolted,
[22:24]
» areas are overvolted,
[22:24]
>> right? That's what I mean. You could
[22:25]
» right? That's what I mean. You could
[22:25]
turn the ballot.
[22:26]
>> So, your last one should have said just
[22:28]
» So, your last one should have said just
[22:28]
should have said just two,
[22:30]
>> right?
[22:30]
» right?
[22:30]
>> At the pre,
[22:32]
» At the pre,
[22:32]
>> right? Because it was just the proposal,
[22:33]
» right? Because it was just the proposal,
[22:33]
so it should have just shown two.
[22:35]
>> Mine I would have to hit a bunch of
[22:37]
» Mine I would have to hit a bunch of
[22:37]
buttons to get to that. Um, so this
[22:39]
one's going to be an overvote in the
[22:40]
Democratic partisan section with the
[22:42]
proposals being voted correctly.
[22:46]
And you're going to cast it.
[22:47]
>> We're going to cast it. You want to cast
[22:48]
» We're going to cast it. You want to cast
[22:48]
it?
[22:48]
>> I'll cast it.
[22:49]
» I'll cast it.
[22:49]
>> Hold on. Let it It's gonna There it is.
[22:51]
» Hold on. Let it It's gonna There it is.
[22:51]
>> Over vote.
[22:53]
» Over vote.
[22:53]
>> Would you hold this up so people can
[22:55]
» Would you hold this up so people can
[22:55]
see? Oh, yeah. These are test.
[22:56]
>> These are test ballot. It says test at
[22:58]
» These are test ballot. It says test at
[22:58]
the top. All right. Not not real ballots
[23:00]
here.
[23:01]
>> I mean, they are real in the sense that
[23:03]
» I mean, they are real in the sense that
[23:03]
the table does take them, but they are
[23:05]
test. All right. Next ballot. Um, we
[23:08]
have correct in the Democratic partisan
[23:10]
section and overvote in the proposal
[23:12]
section.
[23:14]
over voted in this twice or two times.
[23:18]
>> So, it been
[23:21]
» So, it been
[23:21]
>> okay, you are good.
[23:27]
» All right. I will say this. Just when
[23:28]
you get to 12, don't put number 12 in
[23:30]
for you because it's it's supposed to be
[23:32]
a different precinct. It'll take yours.
[23:33]
>> This is nine.
[23:34]
» This is nine.
[23:34]
>> I know. When you get to 12, just getting
[23:36]
» I know. When you get to 12, just getting
[23:36]
ahead because you guys sometimes feed
[23:38]
before me. Uh number nine. Um this one's
[23:41]
going to be a complete crossover vote.
[23:43]
They voted Democratic and Republican. So
[23:45]
this ballot would not count except the
[23:47]
proposals would count.
[23:49]
>> Okay? So if you if you cross over vote
[23:52]
» Okay? So if you if you cross over vote
[23:52]
in a primary election, which means
[23:54]
voting in the Democratic and Republican
[23:56]
sections, your ballot for the partisan
[23:58]
section will not count at all, but your
[24:00]
proposal still would. Just so that All
[24:03]
right.
[24:05]
>> So if you were at home and you've and
[24:09]
» So if you were at home and you've and
[24:09]
you all of a sudden watching this and
[24:11]
you're like, "Oh, wait. I can't vote for
[24:12]
people on both sides, both uh both. You
[24:16]
cannot. All right. You can come in and
[24:18]
visit us with your absentee ballout. Go
[24:19]
ahead and hit that. You can come in and
[24:21]
we can spoil that absentee bout and give
[24:22]
you a new one. Um if that's the case,
[24:25]
just letting you know. All right. So,
[24:27]
that one. Do you really want to? Yes.
[24:29]
That one's special because it's a
[24:31]
crossover. It really wants to ask. Are
[24:32]
you sure you want to do this? Because
[24:33]
it's not going to count.
[24:34]
>> Okay.
[24:35]
» Okay.
[24:35]
>> All right. Um, so ballot number 10 on
[24:38]
» All right. Um, so ballot number 10 on
[24:38]
our test is
[24:40]
>> uh all writeins for the Democratic side.
[24:43]
» uh all writeins for the Democratic side.
[24:43]
Just writeins.
[24:48]
» Do any of the writings count?
[24:49]
>> This should count. Yes, this will take
[24:51]
» This should count. Yes, this will take
[24:51]
it. Um, the the tabulator itself just so
[24:55]
we all understand like when you write in
[24:58]
a write in oval, obviously there's no
[25:00]
nothing next to it. You have to write
[25:02]
something next to it and it has to be a
[25:03]
correct valid write in for it to count.
[25:06]
We get a lot of people at elections,
[25:07]
they put in Mickey Mouse and stuff like
[25:08]
that, you know, obviously they don't
[25:10]
count. It has to be someone who's
[25:11]
actually put in and run for a write in
[25:14]
um and that would count,
[25:16]
>> right? So it there is a um a bin inside
[25:19]
» right? So it there is a um a bin inside
[25:19]
this we'll look at after when we open it
[25:21]
up. Um they holds all the writeins from
[25:24]
falling into the bottom. So at the end
[25:26]
of the night, our inspectors can pull
[25:28]
out the bottom ballots without writeins,
[25:31]
then open up the write in so they can go
[25:33]
through them to make sure should any of
[25:35]
these count. All right. So it does keep
[25:36]
them aside to to make their night a
[25:38]
little bit easier instead of going
[25:39]
through every single ballot looking for
[25:40]
writeins.
[25:41]
>> Uh that one would have gone because it
[25:43]
» Uh that one would have gone because it
[25:43]
was voted correctly just like this will
[25:45]
be voted correctly too in the Republican
[25:47]
writins.
[25:51]
» So your 12 you skipped right.
[25:55]
All right. So, R12
[25:57]
is wrong precinct. It's preync number
[25:59]
one. All right. So, it should
[26:03]
I'm waiting. There we go. It should spit
[26:05]
it back at us
[26:10]
and tell us invalid ballot detected.
[26:12]
Please ensure you receive the correct
[26:14]
ballot. Okay. Um,
[26:16]
>> how could somebody get
[26:18]
» how could somebody get
[26:18]
wrong? So, uh, a lot harder now unless
[26:22]
we literally hand we give the wrong
[26:25]
boxes to
[26:26]
>> All right. Because now they're in
[26:28]
» All right. Because now they're in
[26:28]
different buildings.
[26:29]
>> It was a little bit easier when we had
[26:32]
» It was a little bit easier when we had
[26:32]
two precincts in a building.
[26:34]
>> So, you'd have one and two at
[26:35]
» So, you'd have one and two at
[26:35]
Presbyterian, three and four, and then
[26:37]
we had five and six where maybe an
[26:40]
inspector because those were tight
[26:42]
areas, ballots could be kept in the
[26:46]
middle of the room, they were supposed
[26:47]
to be on different sides of the tables.
[26:49]
inspector went over, grabbed the next
[26:52]
batch of but it was the wrong the wrong
[26:54]
precinct. So all a sudden all the voters
[26:56]
are coming back going none of these
[26:57]
work. All right.
[26:59]
>> Um so now uh we're going to skip the
[27:02]
» Um so now uh we're going to skip the
[27:02]
next one. We're just going to run right
[27:03]
into um part two number one. All these
[27:10]
where all these ballots are just trying
[27:13]
to get different numbers of people who
[27:15]
voted. All right. So we're trying to get
[27:17]
two to one three. So
[27:20]
Yes. So, all this is going to be now
[27:22]
just correct. I actually Kevin, I'll let
[27:25]
you feed some ballots. It's just going
[27:27]
to take a second. Wait till
[27:28]
>> Do you want us to keep feeding them?
[27:30]
» Do you want us to keep feeding them?
[27:30]
>> You can just go. Yes.
[27:31]
» You can just go. Yes.
[27:31]
>> And wait till it says uh ready. Your
[27:34]
» And wait till it says uh ready. Your
[27:34]
system ready. And now you can put the
[27:35]
next one in.
[27:39]
» Ours is just the old old 10year-old
[27:42]
style. That's really slow.
[27:44]
>> I see. So if somebody just has two they
[27:46]
» I see. So if somebody just has two they
[27:46]
want to vote for, it's still a good
[27:48]
ballot,
[27:48]
>> right?
[27:49]
» right?
[27:49]
>> Break the rules.
[27:50]
» Break the rules.
[27:50]
>> I mean, you can vote for one.
[27:53]
» I mean, you can vote for one.
[27:53]
>> Yeah, you could walk if you just wanted
[27:55]
» Yeah, you could walk if you just wanted
[27:55]
to vote governor and vote nothing else
[27:57]
on the ballot. It still counts. It's
[27:58]
just that that's the only thing you're
[27:59]
going to get.
[28:00]
>> Yeah,
[28:01]
» Yeah,
[28:01]
>> you could come in and just vote
[28:02]
» you could come in and just vote
[28:02]
proposals and walk out. I mean, however
[28:04]
you
[28:04]
>> successful.
[28:08]
So one of these pop back
[28:11]
successful. Yeah, we at this point, none
[28:14]
of the rest of them should beep, do
[28:17]
anything. Everything should be a clean a
[28:19]
clean feed.
[28:22]
And just a reminder, while they're
[28:23]
running these ballots, um we do have
[28:24]
absentee ballots available right now. Um
[28:27]
ballots, uh we've had it for a couple
[28:29]
weeks now, um if you'd like a ballot,
[28:31]
you can contact our office, either come
[28:33]
in, fill out an application, contact us,
[28:35]
uh via phone, we can email you, or uh
[28:37]
mail you an application. you do have to
[28:39]
fill an application um always before we
[28:42]
can give you a ballot. Um so um that is
[28:45]
the law. Um but once you fill out that
[28:47]
application, we can give you a ballot.
[28:49]
Um early voting is going to start on um
[28:53]
July 25th. All right? So Saturday, July
[28:56]
25th, and that will run for nine
[28:58]
consecutive days from 8:00 am to 400 pm
[29:02]
every day. Um,
[29:06]
so if you want to
[29:08]
uh if you want to come in, um, if you
[29:11]
can't come on election day, but you want
[29:12]
to come in and vote early, um, it's it
[29:14]
it's literally like what we're doing
[29:16]
right now. You fill out a ballot like
[29:17]
you're in the precinct, inspectors, you
[29:20]
know, shuffle you around. You go to your
[29:21]
voting booth, um, and then you go and
[29:24]
you feed your ballot into the tabulator.
[29:26]
Um, if you have an absentee ballot and
[29:29]
you'd like to actually feed your
[29:31]
absentee ballot into a tabulator, you
[29:33]
can bring your absentee ballot to early
[29:36]
voting and vote it there. You can bring
[29:39]
it on election day and vote it on
[29:41]
election day in a tabulator.
[29:48]
Um, if you did receive an abs ball and
[29:50]
you've decided you want to um, not use
[29:52]
it and go vote in person or uh, you
[29:55]
know, in person either at early voting
[29:57]
or on election day, um, you can come in
[29:59]
and surrender that ballot to us um, and
[30:02]
then you can do whatever you'd like.
[30:05]
If you have a situation where a
[30:07]
candidate dies,
[30:08]
>> if a candidate uh passes away or
[30:11]
» if a candidate uh passes away or
[30:11]
candidate um pulls out um of the
[30:14]
election, which we did just have someone
[30:17]
um in that case, if that's someone you
[30:20]
had already cast a vote for, you can
[30:21]
come in and we can spoil that ballot and
[30:23]
we can get you a new ballot.
[30:28]
Right.
[30:31]
The biggest thing in this election,
[30:32]
also, if you do have an FC ball out
[30:34]
there, please
[30:36]
um sign your absentee ballot um on the
[30:40]
envelope on the outside when you before
[30:41]
you return it. Uh we've got a whole
[30:43]
stack already that are unsigned and
[30:45]
we're trying to contact people to come
[30:46]
in. Um so that'd be really helpful.
[30:51]
» All right. All of them were taken.
[31:02]
You want this too, Brian? Somewhere in
[31:04]
the
[31:05]
>> Um, you could just leave it there for
[31:07]
» Um, you could just leave it there for
[31:07]
right now. That's fine. Um, you're
[31:09]
you're all going to sign it um before
[31:11]
this is over. What we'll do is um we'll
[31:14]
get everything tested. We'll make sure
[31:15]
everything was correct and then we can
[31:16]
do all the paperwork stuff off camera.
[31:19]
We don't have they don't need to watch
[31:20]
us sign things and seal things up. At
[31:22]
that at that point, it'll be no one
[31:24]
talking. It's going to be probably
[31:25]
pretty boring for them. So, uh, but what
[31:28]
we will do is we will, um, run the tapes
[31:32]
on these, make sure it came out
[31:33]
correctly, um, like it was supposed to
[31:57]
So a long time ago you went in, you gave
[31:59]
your ballot and people had to actually
[32:03]
>> correct.
[32:08]
» Yeah. Now we we only have to tally on um
[32:11]
writeins.
[32:12]
>> Yeah. Which usually isn't a huge number.
[32:15]
» Yeah. Which usually isn't a huge number.
[32:15]
So, um,
[32:28]
» yeah, that
[32:29]
>> you know when the township started with
[32:31]
» you know when the township started with
[32:31]
these machines,
[32:32]
>> these particular ones or
[32:36]
» these particular ones or
[32:36]
>> um I you know what that I don't know
[32:38]
» um I you know what that I don't know
[32:38]
that I don't know. I mean I w I
[32:40]
obviously haven't been around long
[32:42]
enough to vote in one of the booths with
[32:44]
the curtain. I did never got to do that.
[32:46]
So,
[32:50]
» um, okay. Um, so ballots have been run.
[32:55]
Now, we're going to close our polls. Um,
[32:59]
so I I will have Jameson grabbed. There
[33:01]
should be Do you have a key over there?
[33:05]
>> Did I steal your key? Maybe.
[33:12]
» All right. So, you're gonna
[33:14]
You're going to take your key and you're
[33:16]
going to put it over this security key
[33:18]
flat. No, the You're gonna take There
[33:21]
you go. Yep. This round. It's then going
[33:24]
to bring up an administrative menu on
[33:26]
your other side.
[33:29]
>> And I'm going to close the polls.
[33:31]
» And I'm going to close the polls.
[33:31]
>> Password.
[33:32]
» Password.
[33:32]
>> Password is
[33:36]
» Password is
[33:36]
I don't want to say that.
[33:37]
>> Not gonna say it out loud. So,
[33:51]
Am I certain I want to close the polls?
[33:52]
Yes. This is the same process our
[33:54]
election inspectors would go through at
[33:56]
the end of the night. Um and then what
[33:58]
it's going to do is it's going to
[34:03]
generate that uh yep results tape for
[34:07]
us.
[34:10]
Now, it's programmed to print five tapes
[34:12]
total. We're gonna cancel this after the
[34:15]
first one. Uh Jameson, you'll be able to
[34:17]
pick how many you do. So, you're in a
[34:19]
better shot than me. You having some
[34:20]
issues over there.
[34:34]
Sorry.
[35:07]
The two don't do the exact same.
[35:16]
» So these are the actual tapes that you
[35:18]
hang up at the end of
[35:20]
>> correct
[35:21]
» correct
[35:21]
>> voting.
[35:22]
» voting.
[35:22]
>> All right. So I'm going to
[35:23]
» All right. So I'm going to
[35:23]
>> I'm going to cancel that where it's at.
[35:25]
» I'm going to cancel that where it's at.
[35:25]
Um, I think we ran over the first one,
[35:27]
which is fine.
[35:36]
Make sure there are no ballads in the
[35:39]
auxiliary of the box.
[35:44]
All right.
[36:08]
Okay. All right. So, now we're going to
[36:11]
um we have our simulated tapes that
[36:14]
we're going to compare this to.
[36:19]
Um, and they should come out exactly the
[36:21]
same. So, I'll give you yours. Um,
[36:26]
yours is going to be a little bit
[36:27]
different because you have
[36:32]
the
[36:34]
other tabulator.
[36:39]
All right. So, yours should Did you have
[36:42]
30?
[36:43]
>> 36.
[36:43]
» 36.
[36:43]
>> Yes. All right. So, you're gonna take
[36:45]
» Yes. All right. So, you're gonna take
[36:46]
that and you and Joe can review that
[36:48]
tape. Um,
[36:50]
and then we're going to
[36:54]
>> This is all pretty.
[36:56]
» This is all pretty.
[36:56]
>> All right. So, we're going to review
[37:00]
our tape here.
[37:04]
Um,
[37:05]
so we've got
[37:09]
let's see. So you should be starting
[37:10]
with as we scroll through here a little
[37:12]
bit
[37:13]
>> our first candidate down there. So we
[37:15]
» our first candidate down there. So we
[37:15]
had 34 ballots cast.
[37:17]
>> That's what this says it should have had
[37:19]
» That's what this says it should have had
[37:19]
is 34.
[37:20]
>> All right. So then we're going to start
[37:21]
» All right. So then we're going to start
[37:21]
with looks like the Democratic side with
[37:24]
governor.
[37:25]
>> Okay.
[37:25]
» Okay.
[37:25]
>> All right. So um looks like uh Benson
[37:28]
» All right. So um looks like uh Benson
[37:28]
four
[37:29]
>> Swanson five or six I mean sorry
[37:34]
» Swanson five or six I mean sorry
[37:34]
>> and write in one.
[37:35]
» and write in one.
[37:35]
>> Yes. Okay. And then um Senator Well,
[37:38]
» Yes. Okay. And then um Senator Well,
[37:38]
actually yours is probably going to go
[37:40]
the other governor. So let me
[37:41]
>> Okay,
[37:41]
» Okay,
[37:41]
>> let me jump over here. So we've got Cox
[37:44]
» let me jump over here. So we've got Cox
[37:44]
with four.
[37:44]
>> Yes.
[37:45]
» Yes.
[37:45]
>> James with six.
[37:46]
» James with six.
[37:46]
>> Yes.
[37:47]
» Yes.
[37:47]
>> Johnson with two.
[37:48]
» Johnson with two.

» Correct.
[39:11]
>> And then
[39:13]

[39:20]
wait. No one

» For the Republican convention.
[39:26]
>> Oh,
[39:28]
» Oh,
[39:28]
how am I missing that page? Hold on.
[39:33]
Oh, right
[39:35]

then we would be on the two

[39:51]
>> Correct.
[39:52]
» Correct.
[39:52]
>> Okay.
[39:53]
» Okay.
[39:53]
>> So, that came out absolutely correct.
[39:56]
» So, that came out absolutely correct.
[39:56]
>> All right. So, um
[40:03]
All right. So, next up for us,
[40:07]
>> we are going to hit utilities and we are
[40:09]
» we are going to hit utilities and we are
[40:09]
going to
[40:11]
>> zero this back out. Take these 34 votes
[40:14]
» zero this back out. Take these 34 votes
[40:14]
out. So, it's ready for election day.
[40:16]
Okay.
[40:18]
>> Hit zero.
[40:22]
» That is not the right code.
[40:40]
All right, ballots cast zero. We are
[40:42]
back to zero. It is ready
[40:44]
>> for election day.
[40:45]
» for election day.
[40:45]
>> Correct.
[40:45]
» Correct.
[40:45]
>> All right. Excellent.
[40:46]
» All right. Excellent.
[40:46]
>> Excellent.
[40:46]
» Excellent.
[40:46]
>> We can shut this one down.
[40:53]
» Nice work.
[40:54]
>> Thank you very much. All right. And then
[40:55]
» Thank you very much. All right. And then
[40:55]
we will move on to these two
[40:58]
>> once they're ready to go. These will be
[41:00]
» once they're ready to go. These will be
[41:00]
really fast and we'll be done.
[41:03]
>> 19 9 28 44. Okay. Uh
[41:12]
27
[41:20]
28 44. Okay. Uh That's it.
[41:26]
That's all that I had on that tape.
[41:29]
>> Everything came out correct.
[41:31]
» Everything came out correct.
[41:31]
>> No. So, the number of undervotes, the
[41:33]
» No. So, the number of undervotes, the
[41:33]
machine is reporting a higher number of
[41:35]
under votes than this. This Well, the
[41:38]
machine's reporting less actually. So,
[41:41]
this is saying this should have 20 under
[41:43]
votes. We had zero,
[41:45]
right? This one, nine,
[41:49]
nine, eight. So, there seems to be a 20.
[41:52]
Oh, that's cuz our I'm sorry. Our um
[41:57]
we don't program it to do under votes.
[42:00]
>> Okay.
[42:00]
» Okay.
[42:00]
>> Some states do so that it does get
[42:02]
» Some states do so that it does get
[42:02]
programmed that way, but or the their
[42:06]
tape there will come out that way, but
[42:08]
we don't program it to keep track of
[42:11]
under votes. That's why ours are all
[42:12]
zero.
[42:13]
>> Yeah. I once you said it, I thought,
[42:15]
» Yeah. I once you said it, I thought,
[42:15]
"Oh, wait. Are we actually is it
[42:17]
tracking something?" Like it had votes.
[42:18]
I'm like, "If it had things, then I was
[42:20]
going to have a problem." But they're
[42:21]
all zero.
[42:21]
>> Yes. Okay, that's that is perfect and it
[42:23]
» Yes. Okay, that's that is perfect and it
[42:23]
came out correct.
[42:24]
>> Okay.
[42:25]
» Okay.
[42:25]
>> All right. Um, so all right, if you're
[42:27]
» All right. Um, so all right, if you're
[42:27]
done, then we can zero out your
[42:30]
uh we'll zero out yours and be done with
[42:32]
it. We are not going to print again.
[42:37]
» It's going to do it.
[42:39]
>> Oh, the right.
[42:39]
» Oh, the right.
[42:40]
>> It's doing the right in. Yeah.
[42:42]
» It's doing the right in. Yeah.
[42:42]
>> Um, yeah, with this tabulator, it does
[42:45]
» Um, yeah, with this tabulator, it does
[42:45]
ask you if you'd like a write in report.
[42:47]
Um,
[42:49]
>> so
[42:52]
they don't they get a head start on
[42:54]
writeins because they can actually it'll
[42:56]
print off and take a snapshot picture of
[42:59]
whatever you wrote. So this tabular is
[43:03]
more sophisticated than the old ones.
[43:05]
Um, so they can start with the tape and
[43:08]
know if any of the writeins are even
[43:10]
valid without even having to look at the
[43:11]
ballot. All right. But once they do see
[43:14]
that there are, then they'll start
[43:15]
comparing them to make sure it is.
[43:18]
Okay.
[43:23]
All right. So, we're just going to
[43:24]
quickly zero this one back out.
[43:39]
go through it and then
[43:42]
>> open it up.
[43:47]
» I do not press these very well.
[43:58]
» I guarantee I'll get it wrong.
[44:04]
Do you read that one as a treasure?
[44:06]
>> I feel good when I get it right.
[44:09]
» I feel good when I get it right.
[44:09]
>> We're not going to print that.
[44:19]
» Yes.
[44:20]
>> Okay. So, at this point, our ballot
[44:22]
» Okay. So, at this point, our ballot
[44:22]
counter says zero. So, we're back to,
[44:25]
you know, ready to go for uh election
[44:27]
day now. Everything tested perfect. We
[44:29]
know it works. We put it at zero. We
[44:32]
lock it up. This now will be ready uh
[44:35]
delivered to the precinct or actually
[44:37]
this is early voting. So on the 25th
[44:38]
it'll be delivered downstairs um and
[44:40]
ready to go for the inspectors.
[44:43]
We'll shut that down. All right. And
[44:46]
then we just have two other quick items
[44:48]
to do. Um we are going to
[44:54]
quickly log into our ballot on demand.
[44:57]
This is how we do ballots in the um
[45:01]
early voting. Um we don't actually hand
[45:04]
you ballots like you do in the precinct.
[45:05]
We you come in and we print your ballot
[45:07]
there. Um
[45:10]
so let's go.
[45:19]
» Oops. And let's see if I can get the
[45:21]
password right and we'll be all set.
[45:30]
Okay.
[45:39]
Oh,
[45:40]
I'm putting in the number like I'm doing
[45:42]
the tabulator.
[45:44]
Okay,
[45:46]
so here's our ballot on demand system.
[45:48]
Um just like I know for you show at home
[45:51]
um it shows three ballot styles uh for
[45:54]
precinct one, precinct two, and precinct
[45:56]
3. Um so what we will do, we're going to
[45:59]
print one ballot for each precinct to
[46:02]
show that it's working correctly
[46:04]
>> for the early voting.
[46:05]
» for the early voting.
[46:05]
>> For the this is Yep. for the early
[46:07]
» For the this is Yep. for the early
[46:07]
voting.
[46:08]
>> All right.
[46:10]
» All right.
[46:10]
And print
[46:30]
There you go.
[46:31]
>> All right. You want to take a look at
[46:32]
» All right. You want to take a look at
[46:32]
that?
[46:34]
>> It should say precinct one at the top. I
[46:37]
» It should say precinct one at the top. I
[46:37]
hope
[46:39]
that was correct.
[46:40]
>> All right. And then we'll do a precinct
[46:41]
» All right. And then we'll do a precinct
[46:41]
two.
[46:51]
Yeah, if you want you can compare.
[46:57]
» Oh, this is
[47:06]
» it. It's It is really nice. I mean, I
[47:09]
will I say it's made my life worse
[47:12]
during elections. Yes, because I'm here
[47:14]
for, you know, 19 straight days now. Um,
[47:18]
but I do agree with the fact that it is
[47:20]
very nice feature. I mean, it's
[47:23]
>> going to the polls and voting on
[47:25]
» going to the polls and voting on
[47:25]
>> but a lot of people can. So, I mean,
[47:30]
» but a lot of people can. So, I mean,
[47:30]
it's a tradition.
[47:31]
>> Precinct two.
[47:32]
» Precinct two.
[47:32]
>> Precinct two. Yes.
[47:35]
» Precinct two. Yes.
[47:35]
>> Um,
[47:38]
But I think for a lot of people this is
[47:39]
going to become a new tradition. Like we
[47:41]
go on the second Saturday of early
[47:43]
voting and we vote that every that's
[47:44]
where we go every time, you know. Like I
[47:46]
think that'll become a new a new thing.
[47:48]
>> Correct. Correct.
[47:50]
» Correct. Correct.
[47:50]
>> Uh yeah. So you're looking at uh nine
[47:52]
» Uh yeah. So you're looking at uh nine
[47:52]
straight days from the 25th of July
[47:55]
through the 2nd of August, 8 to 4 every
[47:57]
day.
[47:59]
>> Yep.
[48:01]
» Yep.
[48:01]
>> Thank you for being here.
[48:04]
» Thank you for being here.
[48:04]
>> My pleasure. All right. This should be
[48:06]
» My pleasure. All right. This should be
[48:06]
>> precinct three.
[48:07]
» precinct three.
[48:08]
>> Precinct.
[48:08]
» Precinct.
[48:08]
>> Oh, my inspectors love early voting.
[48:12]
» Oh, my inspectors love early voting.
[48:12]
>> It's a shorter day like compared to, you
[48:14]
» It's a shorter day like compared to, you
[48:14]
know, the election day is obviously like
[48:15]
an 18hour day. It's awful. Uh, you know,
[48:18]
this is just a 9h hour day.
[48:23]
All right. So, all three printed
[48:26]
correctly. All right. So, now we will
[48:28]
test real quick the um
[48:32]
uh voter assist terminal. So, basically
[48:34]
what the voter assist terminal is, every
[48:36]
precinct has one. All right. Um
[48:39]
it's a ballot marking device. Okay. So,
[48:44]
um if you
[48:47]
um need us, it's not even for anyone who
[48:49]
needs it. Anyone can use it. All right.
[48:51]
Let me just state it that way. All
[48:52]
right. It it's it's made for anyone. I
[48:54]
know they always talk about it being um
[48:57]
you know, like a handicap machine, but
[48:58]
that's that's not really correct. Anyone
[49:00]
could walk, sit down at this and mark
[49:02]
their ballot electronically. You don't
[49:03]
have to fill in circles yourself. Okay.
[49:06]
And it'll print your ballot out here.
[49:07]
And then you take this print, you put it
[49:09]
through the tabulator.
[49:11]
>> Okay.
[49:11]
» Okay.
[49:11]
>> You're talking about using this,
[49:12]
» You're talking about using this,
[49:12]
>> correct?
[49:13]
» correct?
[49:13]
>> Okay.
[49:13]
» Okay.
[49:13]
>> Yep. So, and and I will show you that
[49:16]
» Yep. So, and and I will show you that
[49:16]
here in a second. Um,
[49:19]
>> so, uh, for some people, I know our
[49:22]
» so, uh, for some people, I know our
[49:22]
inspectors have started pushing it a
[49:24]
little bit more during primaries because
[49:25]
it will not allow you to cross over
[49:27]
vote. You can't. All right. You have to
[49:29]
pick a party and you that's it. You
[49:31]
can't there you don't see the other
[49:32]
party. You pick it before you start. All
[49:34]
right. So there's no way to try to cross
[49:37]
over and mess up your ballot. Your
[49:39]
ballot can't be messed up. Okay. Um so I
[49:43]
know for my inspectors, they do really
[49:44]
like it. Um
[49:46]
so it it like I said, it's for anybody.
[49:49]
Um it does have the functions of um you
[49:51]
know headphones if you need you know to
[49:54]
listen to it. It has braille if you know
[49:56]
for you to actually be able to you do
[49:59]
your device that way. Um there is you
[50:01]
know it pretty much can do all. So um
[50:05]
>> now you have to have is that just to
[50:07]
» now you have to have is that just to
[50:07]
test it your key you put in or do you
[50:09]
get one when you go there?
[50:10]
>> Um so every person who votes we'll have
[50:13]
» Um so every person who votes we'll have
[50:13]
to we use the same card for everybody
[50:15]
though. But if you're going to use it
[50:16]
then they'll take you over.
[50:17]
>> I got you.
[50:18]
» I got you.
[50:18]
>> Yep. I'm just going to put this code in
[50:20]
» Yep. I'm just going to put this code in
[50:20]
without the camera maybe catching me.
[50:22]
Sorry, Kevin, if I shot you there.
[50:28]
» I get you. So, it's one key, but it can
[50:30]
only be used once at a time.
[50:33]
>> One time.
[50:33]
» One time.
[50:33]
>> Correct. Yep.
[50:35]
» Correct. Yep.
[50:35]
All right. So, this would be when our
[50:37]
election inspectors would turn it on in
[50:38]
the morning. Um, they'd put in their
[50:40]
code. Um, they'd confirm the time, date,
[50:43]
and time, and then they'd open the
[50:46]
polls.
[50:48]
Okay. So, now now it's ready to go.
[50:51]
Okay. So, I'm a voter. I get my card. I
[50:55]
sit down. Um, it's going to ask me the
[50:57]
activation code. So, the activation code
[50:59]
is there's a different code for each
[51:01]
ballot style. So, precinct one, precinct
[51:03]
two, or precinct 3. So, depending on
[51:05]
what precinct you are, or obviously, if
[51:08]
you're at early voting, you have to be
[51:09]
able to put in the correct code to vote
[51:11]
your correct ballot. So, the inspectors
[51:13]
would give you the code that you need to
[51:15]
put in. Um, I'll just pick
[51:19]
uh precinct one for right now.
[51:24]
All right. So, here's where my
[51:25]
selection. So, it's going to give me I
[51:27]
have to pick either Democrat,
[51:28]
Republican, or a nonpartisan ballot. So,
[51:30]
I could just pick to vote just the two
[51:32]
mill, you know, two proposals and that's
[51:34]
it.
[51:35]
>> All right. Um, let's say I just pick a
[51:38]
» All right. Um, let's say I just pick a
[51:38]
Democrat. It's the top one. Um, I didn't
[51:40]
turn that on, so you're not going to
[51:42]
hear that right now, but but yeah,
[51:43]
they're headphones.
[51:44]
>> Yeah, that's that's great.
[51:45]
» Yeah, that's that's great.
[51:46]
>> So, it's it's as easy as here's your
[51:47]
» So, it's it's as easy as here's your
[51:48]
ballot.
[51:49]
All right. Governor, you just pick. All
[51:52]
right, I'm I'm actually gonna unmark
[51:54]
things, but it won't let you overvote
[51:58]
anything. You have to unselect to go to
[52:00]
the next person. So,
[52:01]
>> um can't make a mistake.
[52:02]
» um can't make a mistake.
[52:02]
>> You can't mess up on this.
[52:03]
» You can't mess up on this.
[52:03]
>> All right. And then as you click next,
[52:05]
» All right. And then as you click next,
[52:05]
it's just going to show you each one.
[52:07]
>> Yeah.
[52:08]
» Yeah.
[52:08]
>> All right.
[52:09]
» All right.
[52:10]
>> All right.
[52:10]
» All right.
[52:10]
>> And we're going to just print uh you
[52:13]
» And we're going to just print uh you
[52:13]
scroll down, you get your yes and no. It
[52:14]
won't let you pick them both. You have
[52:16]
to undo. And this is for
[52:19]
>> So that would be if you needed um
[52:23]
» So that would be if you needed um
[52:23]
braille.
[52:24]
>> All right. Um it's also the sound um how
[52:26]
» All right. Um it's also the sound um how
[52:26]
fast it talks
[52:28]
>> and how the volume of it.
[52:29]
» and how the volume of it.
[52:29]
>> So you would have these on.
[52:31]
» So you would have these on.
[52:31]
>> Correct.
[52:31]
» Correct.
[52:31]
>> And
[52:32]
» And
[52:32]
>> Yep.
[52:32]
» Yep.
[52:32]
>> That's correct.
[52:33]
» That's correct.
[52:33]
>> Yep. Um and then you can use these
[52:35]
» Yep. Um and then you can use these
[52:35]
controls instead of touching the screen.
[52:37]
>> Okay.
[52:38]
» Okay.
[52:38]
>> Excellent. Thank you.
[52:39]
» Excellent. Thank you.
[52:39]
>> Um all right. So then same thing. We're
[52:42]
» Um all right. So then same thing. We're
[52:42]
just going to get through here. We're
[52:42]
going to print a nice zero. It says um
[52:45]
your ballot is blank. All right. And
[52:47]
it's as simple as then hitting print
[52:49]
your ballot.
[52:53]
That's it. All right. Then you would
[52:55]
you'd put that into your secrecy sleeve.
[52:57]
You'd go to the last table like you
[52:58]
always do at the precinct and then you
[53:00]
would feed this in. So it it's going to
[53:03]
look a little obviously I have a test in
[53:05]
here so it's going to look a lot
[53:06]
different but basically what you're
[53:08]
going to have is you have everything
[53:10]
that you voted is listed
[53:12]
>> and then you have a QR code which is
[53:14]
» and then you have a QR code which is
[53:14]
what that is actually going to read.
[53:15]
>> Is that the actual size?
[53:17]
» Is that the actual size?
[53:17]
>> That's it.
[53:19]
» That's it.
[53:19]
That's it. Okay. There's no front and
[53:21]
back on this. Everything will be on the
[53:22]
front front page. Um and then it's as
[53:25]
simple as that. So
[53:27]
>> all right. So we tested that and just
[53:29]
» all right. So we tested that and just
[53:29]
make sure someone wants to look. Just
[53:30]
make sure they're all blank.
[53:34]
>> I didn't I didn't vote anything, so
[53:35]
» I didn't I didn't vote anything, so
[53:35]
everything should just say blank next to
[53:36]
it. I know it's a little hard to read,
[53:37]
but
[53:38]
>> all blank.
[53:47]
» You wish
[53:50]
for me, not Kevin.
[53:51]
>> All good. All right. So, that will uh
[53:55]
» All good. All right. So, that will uh
[53:55]
conclude our testing of our voting
[53:57]
equipment for the public. Um,
[54:00]
obviously we have, you know, three other
[54:03]
of these vats,
[54:05]
nine other tabulators,
[54:08]
um, that we are testing and going
[54:11]
through that process with. Same exact
[54:12]
thing you just watched here. Um, and I
[54:16]
think that's about it. So, uh, what
[54:18]
we're going to do now is we will seal up
[54:21]
everything, sign all the paperwork. All
[54:23]
right, people at home, I'm sure that
[54:25]
would be super boring to watch us do all
[54:26]
that. So, um, we will sign off on this
[54:28]
and, uh, hopefully everybody goes out
[54:30]
and votes on August 4th or or before
[54:32]
then.
[54:32]
>> Can you just repeat the times of
[54:35]
» Can you just repeat the times of
[54:35]
>> So, go ahead.
[54:36]
» So, go ahead.
[54:36]
>> Yep. Uh, so obviously absentee voting,
[54:38]
» Yep. Uh, so obviously absentee voting,
[54:38]
uh, will start with that's Monday
[54:40]
through Friday. Um, 8 to 4:30 you can
[54:43]
get a ballot. Um, early voting will
[54:46]
start July 25th and run every single day
[54:50]
through August Sunday, August 2nd.
[54:52]
That's so that's Saturday the 25th
[54:53]
through August 2nd. It's a Sunday. Um,
[54:56]
and that's 8 to 4 every day.
[54:59]
>> Do you have to bring ID to vote?
[55:01]
» Do you have to bring ID to vote?
[55:01]
>> Yes, you have to have an ID. Um, if you
[55:03]
» Yes, you have to have an ID. Um, if you
[55:04]
I I say yes, but if you forgot your ID,
[55:08]
you can sign an affidavit swearing that
[55:10]
you didn't bring your ID. You didn't
[55:13]
have your ID with you on that day. Um,
[55:15]
and you have to sign off on that. Um,
[55:18]
but yeah, ID makes it much easier and
[55:20]
much faster for our election inspectors.
[55:22]
Um I will say but um you can also if you
[55:25]
have happen to forget it you now I will
[55:27]
say if you walk in and say I refuse to
[55:29]
show it to you you cannot vote that is a
[55:31]
no have a good day um you've forfeited
[55:34]
the right if you refuse to show
[55:35]
>> ID driver's license
[55:37]
» ID driver's license
[55:37]
>> passport uh government IDs there is a
[55:40]
» passport uh government IDs there is a
[55:40]
list tribal um but um I'm not going to
[55:43]
go through every single one here but
[55:45]
>> it's more than just your driver's
[55:46]
» it's more than just your driver's
[55:46]
license
[55:46]
>> just some yes you have other options
[55:49]
» just some yes you have other options
[55:49]
correct uh school ID does work.
[55:52]
>> Um,
[55:53]
» Um,
[55:53]
>> so,
[55:53]
» so,
[55:53]
>> okay, good.
[55:54]
» okay, good.
[55:54]
>> And even high school ID now works. It
[55:56]
» And even high school ID now works. It
[55:56]
didn't used to, but now they've added
[55:57]
that to the list.
[55:58]
>> Um, so, okay. So, uh, we're going to
[56:00]
» Um, so, okay. So, uh, we're going to
[56:00]
sign off and
[56:01]
>> like to
[56:02]
» like to
[56:02]
>> Oh, yeah.
[56:02]
» Oh, yeah.
[56:02]
>> Uh, clerk Jagger and Deputy Clerk
[56:08]
» Uh, clerk Jagger and Deputy Clerk
[56:08]
and all those folks. I think there are
[56:10]
about 50 54 people that are helping
[56:13]
behind the scenes.
[56:14]
>> Yeah, we've got a lot of people and
[56:15]
» Yeah, we've got a lot of people and
[56:15]
we're still looking for a couple more to
[56:16]
fill it out. So, if anybody out there is
[56:18]
willing to work an election, we'd love
[56:21]
to have you. Uh, training's probably a
[56:23]
good hour, hour and a half, maybe two
[56:25]
hours at the most. Um, and, uh,
[56:29]
>> and you'll get some donuts and some
[56:31]
» and you'll get some donuts and some
[56:31]
pizza. Uh, yeah, that pizza's big. All
[56:33]
right. Donuts, pizza, coffee all day,
[56:36]
and water. So, you know, that's, you
[56:37]
know, it's a big day.
[56:39]
>> So, and it's not just volunteer. You do
[56:41]
» So, and it's not just volunteer. You do
[56:41]
actually get paid for it. So, um, but
[56:43]
all right. So,
[56:44]
>> thank you. Thank you for tuning in and
[56:46]
» thank you. Thank you for tuning in and
[56:46]
watching this. Uh if you have any
[56:47]
questions, you can always contact my
[56:49]
office and we uh will guide you through
[56:50]
whatever you have.
[56:52]
>> Thank you.
[56:52]
» Thank you.
[56:52]
>> Thank you.
[56:53]
» Thank you.
[56:53]
>> Thank you guys.
[56:53]
» Thank you guys.
[56:54]
>> Good work, Brian.
