Call the Downtown Development Authority
meeting to order. The first item on the
[0:36]
agenda is the Pledge of Allegiance. Miss
Carne, can you lead us in the pledge?
[0:41]
» I pledge allegiance
>> to the flag of the United States of
[0:44]
America, and to the Republic for which
it stands, one nation under God,
[0:50]
indivisible, with liberty and justice
for all.
[0:58]
» The next item on the agenda is the
approval of the agenda. And we've got um
[1:03]
two changes that we need to make. The uh
first one is the approval of the minutes
[1:07]
of the June 25th uh meeting. We don't
have those um yet tonight. And I'd like
[1:14]
to add an action item, which is the
approval of the Pam Frucci plan at the
[1:19]
uh Scenic Outlook
as an action item. So, with that, I'll
[1:24]
entertain a motion to approve the agenda
as amended.
[1:27]
» I make a motion.
>> Motion by Miss Armstead.
[1:29]
» I support.
>> Support by Miss Carne. All those in
[1:32]
favor say aye.
>> Aye.
[1:33]
» All opposed say no. Motion carries.
Next item on the agenda is the
[1:38]
presentations, and we have none to Oh,
I'm sorry. I need to do roll call. Sorry
[1:42]
about that.
Uh Mr. Miranda is here. Supervisor
[1:45]
Porcerelli.
>> Here.
[1:46]
» Mr. Anderson.
>> Here.
[1:47]
» Miss Stanko.
>> Here.
[1:48]
» Miss Puzak.
>> Here.
[1:49]
» Miss Ellison.
>> Here.
[1:51]
» Miss Armstead.
>> Here.
[1:52]
» Miss
>> Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were
[1:53]
calling on me. Oh my gosh. [laughter]
>> Miss Carne.
[1:55]
» Sorry. Here.
>> Mr. Jacobs is excused. Okay. [laughter]
[1:59]
Now we'll
So, there's no presentations tonight and
[2:03]
there's no one out in the public, so
there's no public comment tonight. So,
[2:05]
our next item will be the
approval of the June 2026 and July 2026
[2:12]
financials.
Hopefully everybody's had a chance to
[2:16]
look at those and didn't notice anything
out of the ordinary on either month and
[2:21]
we're approving them both because
obviously we did not have a July uh
[2:25]
board meeting. So,
um
[2:27]
» I'll make a motion to approve.
>> Motion by Mr. Anderson.
[2:30]
» Second.
>> Support by Supervisor Porcerelli to
[2:34]
approve the June and July uh
financials. All those in favor say aye.
[2:40]
» Aye.
>> All opposed say no.
[2:42]
Motion carries.
[2:45]
The uh next item is the action item
which we have approval tonight and
[2:49]
before you you should all have a drawing
that shows the
[2:53]
um
Pam Frucci outlook, I'll call it a sign.
[2:58]
Um I actually met with Jay Frucci, Pam's
son, out at the site about 2 weeks ago
[3:05]
and we walked this area and he
presented um the plan that you have in
[3:10]
front of you then
in the
[3:13]
if you look at the second page,
um
[3:17]
that is going to be a design that's
going to be on the side
[3:22]
of if you look at it's kind of got an
arch to it and it's going to be on
[3:26]
either side of that arch.
>> Uh-huh.
[3:30]
Like where the chains are?
>> Um
[3:33]
kind of
>> Oh, okay.
[3:35]
» down here.
>> Oh, okay.
[3:36]
» to be on both sides
here. So, it's going to face north and
[3:41]
south.
Right now you're looking at it looking
[3:44]
east.
>> Due east, yeah.
[3:46]
» And in that
>> Oh, I got you.
[3:48]
» design will be looking north and south.
>> Okay.
[3:52]
» And if you remember back a couple months
ago at one of our board meetings, we had
[3:56]
a discussion
and we approved, um,
[4:00]
you know, doing something on the street
in honor of Pam, and now they've come up
[4:05]
with a, you know,
an exact design of what they would like
[4:08]
to install there.
[4:15]
Is there any discussion?
>> Ron, can I just say one thing?
[4:19]
» Sure.
>> Um, I just want to thank all of you, um,
[4:22]
men and women on the board here, on the
commission rather.
[4:25]
Uh,
what happened is some months back, it
[4:28]
was it was many months back, and we were
going back and forth
[4:31]
on location.
And we thought we found one, then we
[4:35]
didn't, then we thought we found one,
then we didn't, and then someone didn't
[4:37]
like it, someone didn't like it. So, we
thought, let we need to go to the DDA.
[4:41]
Maybe they can give us a suggestion
because you guys oversee Macomb Street,
[4:46]
right? So, you oversee what you put on
Macomb Street. So, where would you guys
[4:49]
think? So, I'm glad you came up, and we
solidified it. I mean, you guys are the
[4:53]
ones that said, you know, the Outlook
would probably be the best place,
[4:57]
um, for it, and everybody went with it,
which was good. I mean, this is we
[5:02]
needed
we [clears throat] needed consensus, and
[5:05]
we needed a spot. I mean, we we can't
I don't like talking about things for
[5:09]
months at a time. I like doing them cuz
you got too many to do, and you just
[5:13]
keep going.
And thank you, guys. You guys, um,
[5:17]
you were the ones that really were the,
I think, the catalyst to put it there by
[5:21]
picking that spot, and then we went with
your recommendation.
[5:25]
And it moved to this. Then, obviously,
and Jay, the son, and the daughter,
[5:28]
Marty, um, I I'm not exactly sure, uh,
who met with the people that created
[5:34]
this, but I know the family did, and,
uh, John Rathow was involved, Mickey was
[5:39]
involved for a while.
So, but thank I just want to say thank
[5:42]
you to you guys cuz now
now it's actually coming to fruition,
[5:46]
you know, it you know, things as you see
it going down the road for months and
[5:52]
I don't know. It drives me nuts when you
can't I I I have to make a decision and
[5:55]
move. So, thank you. I'm just
saying that. It was a big It was a big
[5:59]
help.
>> Let's put that.
[6:01]
» It It looks a little dark. I mean, maybe
it's just
[6:03]
» the picture.
>> Okay, cuz it's Yeah, okay.
[6:05]
» [laughter]
>> It's just That's the way it copied on
[6:07]
the
on the copy machine, but and everybody
[6:10]
knows where this is at, right? If you're
driving
[6:12]
eastbound on Macomb and you basically
dead end into the water, that's where it
[6:16]
is.
>> It'd be nice you don't need lights on it
[6:19]
cuz all the cars coming down the
[6:24]
» Ron, is there a night time Was there Was
there a time on these
[6:29]
about going to different things like
seems to me there was like something in
[6:34]
the ordinance or something to the effect
of they you know, they don't want kids
[6:37]
there at 2:00 in the morning.
But, um I
[6:40]
» I have no idea.
>> No, I thought there was something in the
[6:42]
ordinance.
But, when you mentioned the lights and
[6:45]
the people coming you know, down the
street
[6:48]
But, I think that most people obviously
would just be there during cuz I don't
[6:52]
or I didn't see anything. Did you, Ron?
There's nothing with light.
[6:54]
» No. I mean, we
in the middle of the day.
[6:58]
» There was no There's no reason for it.
No.
[7:02]
Okay. Thanks.
[7:06]
» There's no more questions. I'll
entertain a motion to approve.
[7:10]
» I make a motion to approve.
>> I'll second.
[7:12]
» Motion by Ms. Armia to approve
or by Ms. Stanko to approve the Pam
[7:17]
Frucci
signage for the scenic outlook location.
[7:21]
All those in favor say I.
>> I.
[7:24]
» All those say no.
Motion carries.
[7:27]
Next item is our discussion items.
Update on the DDA director search.
[7:33]
Uh we have
gotten I think it's about 10 or 12
[7:39]
applications.
We've narrowed it down to six and we
[7:42]
started interviews yesterday. We
interviewed one candidate yesterday.
[7:47]
There was an interview today and we're
interviewing three more tomorrow. So,
[7:51]
one one person has already dropped out
that we scheduled an interview. So, by
[7:55]
the end of tomorrow we will have
interviewed five candidates. And it's
[7:59]
the intention that at the end of the day
at the completion of the five that we
[8:06]
make a choice and then make an offer.
So, um hopefully
[8:10]
no later than Monday
uh a new director will be
[8:14]
at least chosen for
um making them uh an offer and we'll see
[8:19]
if they accept it and hopefully
um I think Derek said your next
[8:24]
meeting's at the 14th. So, it would go
before the township board on the 14th.
[8:28]
» It's on there already.
>> Is it? Okay.
[8:30]
So.
That is the intention. Is there any
[8:34]
questions?
>> Have we ever given any discussion to
[8:38]
doing an exit interview with
you know,
[8:41]
our previous directors?
Just to kind of
[8:44]
» We did.
>> You did an exit interview with
[8:47]
» It was quick.
>> With Shawn?
[8:49]
» Yeah. It was quick.
>> Okay.
[8:51]
» The uh notice was quick. The interview
was quick.
[8:56]
» Yeah, he he gave notice the morning
after a board meeting.
[9:00]
» Right.
>> And said he was leaving immediately.
[9:03]
» So, there was no advance notice.
>> That's why I I wasn't being facetious. I
[9:08]
was being I just honest. It was very
quick.
[9:10]
Walked in, explained it.
>> you know, even with Ross or, you know,
[9:14]
Angela or even the previous I mean,
um
[9:17]
you know, we've been through four in I
don't know eight years or 10 years. Like
[9:22]
» Yeah, it it was
>> Seems to be a tough position to keep.
[9:26]
» Well,
the issue is that most of the candidates
[9:32]
are young people.
And they they come here and they yep and
[9:37]
they they get experience with
how government runs and you know how
[9:42]
planning departments work and how
economic development and DDAs work and
[9:47]
um and how
just government in general works and
[9:51]
when they get that experience they want
to move up and
[9:54]
then they go somewhere where they can
get you know move up in the ranks and
[9:58]
you know there's not a lot of positions
here at Crozeille that people can move
[10:02]
up to and can promote and get you know
higher wages and so it it's
[10:08]
unfortunately we're kind of like the
farm system of a major league team that
[10:12]
you know we train them and once they
learn the ropes they move on and
[10:17]
the other choice would be is is if you
found someone that maybe had
[10:22]
retired and you know was maybe in their
mid-50s and wanted to go back to work
[10:26]
somewhere and
you know wanted to work someplace for 10
[10:29]
or years or so but that's really kind of
our our mind and that's not just us. I
[10:33]
mean there's other communities that face
the same thing.
[10:39]
It's just the nature of the business
right now. So
[10:44]
So if there's no other questions we'll
move on to the next item which is um a
[10:47]
discussion on uh landscape proposal from
OHM
[10:52]
and that was included in your packet and
I had a discussion with um OHM
[10:58]
and um as you can see on the
uh
[11:03]
bigger
um
[11:06]
drawing that's in front of you it it
sort of has the
[11:09]
um concept plan that we had put together
for um
[11:14]
uh Lions Park
and as you know we've done
[11:19]
some of the things that are in here.
We've we've got there's plantings on the
[11:23]
west side of the park. There's plantings
on the north side of the park. We
[11:27]
installed the um
art wall. We installed the GI and we
[11:31]
installed the
um concrete sidewalk. Uh we've got we've
[11:37]
purchased the benches,
but right when we were getting ready to
[11:41]
install the pads for those is when Shawn
left. So, I'm not quite sure
[11:46]
um
when those are going to get poured, but
[11:49]
hopefully it'll be you know, sometime in
the next 30 days or so, so we'll have
[11:53]
those
those pads done and the benches. And so,
[11:56]
the
area that I talked to OHM is the part
[12:01]
that's between the sidewalk and the
sidewalk that's in the park and the
[12:06]
sidewalk along Lions Park.
And then the area along the sidewalk
[12:11]
along
McComb Street
[12:14]
um sort of two if you're looking at this
picture sort of to the left of the GI.
[12:19]
And those were areas that we had always
talked about at one point of having some
[12:24]
landscaping done because, you know, as
we get funding, we've been doing things
[12:29]
in the park,
but you know, it continues to look as an
[12:33]
unfinished park only because we don't
have money to do other things.
[12:36]
So, the next step
is to start doing some landscaping in
[12:42]
that area. And as you know, we had a
um irrigation contractor donate to us
[12:48]
the irrigation for the trees and it's
also was set up with the intention that
[12:54]
at some point that system was going to
be expanded into these other areas that
[12:58]
we're talking about landscaping.
So, the proposal is is for really two
[13:03]
things. It's landscaping at Lions Park.
And then the second part of it is
[13:10]
landscaping for
our current sculptures and future
[13:15]
sculptures that, you know, it was always
the intent that we were not going to
[13:20]
just install a sculpture on McComb. You
know, it had to have a presence. It had
[13:24]
to have landscaping around it. We wanted
it to be lit. And so, the idea is for
[13:28]
them to come up with a a call it a theme
to landscape around the sculpture. So,
[13:35]
you know, the location of the sculptures
obviously we can't follow the same theme
[13:40]
at every location because it it's a
different situation where each one of
[13:45]
the sculptures are.
But, a sculpture sitting out there by
[13:48]
itself doesn't really have a lot of
presence. And so, the intent always was
[13:53]
that
around that sculpture there would be
[13:56]
landscaping to sort of make a statement
that you know, this is a sculpture and
[14:01]
this is sort of a special thing that
we're we're doing along the street. So,
[14:06]
that's why there's there's two different
tasks really within this.
[14:11]
And I didn't have it as an action item
because I wanted to have a discussion
[14:15]
about that. Um
get people's feedback
[14:19]
uh what they think.
>> Are we talking one sculpture
[14:23]
or or numerous sculptures?
>> Well, the idea is that maybe they would
[14:27]
come up with two or three concepts.
So,
[14:33]
depending on the size of the sculpture,
the location of the sculpture, you use
[14:37]
concept one here,
you use concept two here, concept three
[14:41]
at another one. And then there's another
one you you do another landscaping, you
[14:46]
know, as we do more.
>> Yeah, I guess
[14:51]
you know, just to
[14:54]
kind of keep the the thought process of,
you know, when we utilize this park,
[15:01]
you know, um say driver uses it, you
know, every year for Pantone red, you
[15:04]
know, having
having room for like a big big event
[15:08]
stuff.
Is it if I'm making any sense, I don't
[15:13]
know.
>> Well, the the intent of Lions Park is,
[15:16]
you know, sort of the middle of the I'll
call it the oval
[15:20]
will always stay grass.
There's also going to be
[15:25]
a township park right across the street
that's going to be
[15:29]
» wreck or
>> bigger
[15:31]
bigger acreage
if there was going to be an event that
[15:35]
you know it was too big for Lions Park
or they had a different idea instead of
[15:40]
you know the way we're setting up Lions
Park.
[15:44]
Lions Park was always
designed to be a passive park
[15:50]
not active park.
[15:53]
You know it wasn't for
>> children's play skates
[15:57]
» Yeah swings and and those kind of
things. It wasn't that wasn't the intent
[16:02]
of the park.
>> No I know I'm I'm I'm not intending that
[16:06]
at all.
So the photos indicating that's where
[16:09]
their proposed
pieces of art would then be?
[16:13]
» No this was just
the
[16:16]
sort of ignore what's in red.
>> Okay.
[16:19]
» That was just people were sketching
around as it we actually planted the two
[16:24]
trees.
>> No
[16:26]
» Where you can see on either side of the
GI and that was just somebody's idea
[16:29]
where the tree should go.
>> Got it.
[16:32]
» But we actually moved it closer to the
GI so
[16:40]
So I mean give it some thought I'll
bring it back
[16:44]
at our next meeting for action.
[16:50]
If there's no other comments
[16:55]
I'd like to move to the next item which
is Macomb Commons
[16:59]
and
I spent some time there
[17:04]
over the last couple weeks and and some
of the park needs a little bit of
[17:09]
call it repair kind of
tender loving care. The there's an area
[17:13]
there that's got a lot of pea gravel
that I think that gravel is the original
[17:18]
gravel that was installed there
[17:22]
and it needs a refresh. So, I talked to
Derek um a couple days ago and
[17:27]
we do have uh the township does have a
contract with
[17:31]
um somebody that could deliver a 5-yd
load and we just would need to get it
[17:36]
spread, but it's it's thin there and and
there's also some
[17:42]
um some decorative block there that
needs to be repaired. Um we probably
[17:47]
should have some of the trees trimmed
there, so
[17:50]
um what I'd like to do is at the next
meeting bring back, you know, an idea to
[17:54]
get some of these things repaired and
bring back, you know, uh what the cost
[17:58]
of some of that would be, but
um you know, to me there's nothing worse
[18:01]
than
us having a park and then letting it go
[18:04]
into disrepair. So, we we do need to
keep these up once we install them. So
[18:08]
» Yeah, speaking of wasn't there a bid on
the block already or no?
[18:12]
Didn't they
>> If Shawn did, I wasn't aware of that.
[18:15]
» to Shawn about I thought he did. So, let
me check. I'll check for you on it, but
[18:18]
I think
I thought there was a bid cuz I know
[18:21]
what you're talking about some of the
block work and the cement or the brick.
[18:25]
» Yeah, there's the brick wall kind of in
the
[18:27]
» cracking, but whatever you'd call
failing.
[18:29]
» yeah, just got misplaced.
>> whatnot and he was supposed to have that
[18:33]
taken care of before we started the
uh 250th. So, what's the plan for July?
[18:38]
» go out.
>> Same with the weeds that are still there
[18:40]
and they've grown bigger and they look
like little baby trees now.
[18:43]
» Let me
>> [snorts]
[18:45]
» Well, they
I was out there
[18:47]
doesn't look nice.
>> I was at the market on a Saturday
[18:49]
morning and they changed the trash
during the market
[18:54]
event.
Ooh.
[18:56]
» That's not pleasant.
>> It was not a good smell. So, that So, if
[19:00]
that could be done like
>> more often
[19:02]
» Friday before,
that would be great.
[19:05]
» Yeah, that's most unpleasant. Goodness.
Um I the garbage I at Lions Park is
[19:14]
like owned by the DDA. So, it's not part
of the ones that they empty along
[19:19]
Macomb.
Is what I've been like cuz my it got
[19:24]
really full and it's just like dog poop
and my mother-in-law called and she said
[19:30]
they the city told her that it's a DDA
so they don't pick it up.
[19:35]
It was the only one that picked up.
>> Uh
[19:37]
can you look into that, Joe, for us?
>> I'll write it down.
[19:40]
» Okay, thank you.
>> Yeah, no
[19:42]
» That doesn't make sense. That doesn't If
you're doing the whole street then
[19:44]
» Right, that's what I was I
>> Well, what is there? Two cans?
[19:48]
» I think it's just one.
>> it's just one.
[19:50]
» Yeah. It's just one. I thought each
corner had Okay.
[19:53]
» Yeah, it's on the Macomb.
>> The Macomb side?
[19:56]
» Yeah.
It's right by a bench.
[20:00]
» It's on the Lions Park side.
>> Yeah, yeah, I don't want to get into it.
[20:02]
I will.
I'll
[20:05]
I'll check tomorrow.
>> I did call Derek.
[20:09]
» On this issue?
>> If No, if we're talking about Macomb
[20:12]
Street.
>> Yeah. We Yeah. If there's no other
[20:15]
comments on Macomb Commons, I'd like to
move to the next item which is just
[20:19]
other Macomb Street improvement. So,
>> I Some of the like the the flowers in
[20:23]
front of the VFW are burnt out. The
flowers in front of I think Literary
[20:27]
Hideaway are burnt out.
So, um
[20:31]
just
Oh, it's just a bummer that you know, I
[20:34]
I physical therapy in Trout Lake and
theirs looks so good.
[20:37]
» [laughter]
>> But, he said they don't water and so I
[20:40]
don't know.
Their Christmas tree is also partially
[20:46]
dead.
[20:48]
» Yeah, I
um
[20:52]
» I Derek said that that I I think we're
paying DDA and DDA DPW. Is that right?
[20:58]
Am I saying the right initials?
>> [laughter]
[21:01]
» To to water. So, I I don't know how
often and you You when it's super hot,
[21:06]
you know, I mean,
>> They were looking good. These ones are
[21:10]
dead.
>> They were looking good.
[21:11]
It's a big investment in what we put
into those flowers.
[21:17]
» I can reach out to Derek about that.
I don't know.
[21:20]
See the tree even.
>> And then also on the sidewalk up and
[21:23]
down Macomb Street, the trees, um I know
we had a discussion about this prior, um
[21:28]
and I don't recall what the actual
answer was, but they need to be trimmed.
[21:31]
Like you're walking, riding your bike,
whatever the case may be, you're getting
[21:35]
smacked in the face with those or you
have to walk around it. So, who's
[21:38]
responsible for those trees?
>> Well, that was going to be one of the
[21:41]
items I was going to bring up cuz I I've
been walking Macomb
[21:44]
» Okay.
>> last uh couple months and that is an
[21:47]
issue. So, I talked to Derek about it
and we can
[21:53]
the
the method to do it is if it's a tree
[21:57]
that's on private property,
the township can send them a letter
[22:02]
and say within, you know, you can make
up the day, within 30 days or 60 days,
[22:08]
you need to trim your tree and if you
don't trim it within the that 60 days,
[22:13]
the DDA can go out and hire somebody to
do that. And I think that's one thing
[22:17]
that we should consider is, you know,
hiring a contractor to to go the whole
[22:22]
length of Macomb
and trim trees. And I don't know what
[22:25]
the the right height is, maybe 8 ft up
from the sidewalk because I noticed that
[22:30]
walking, you know, I had to duck my
head,
[22:34]
you know, a number of times on both
sides of the street. So, it's not just
[22:37]
in one area or one property. There's
there's a number of properties that that
[22:42]
need that trimming. So,
um what I can do is talk to Derek, we
[22:47]
can get a price from,
you know, whoever we have a contract
[22:51]
with and see what uh we can do, but
um and I put it on the agenda at the
[22:58]
open it up to if anybody else has any
thing that they would like to propose
[23:02]
that um you know, there are some
very well-maintained properties on the
[23:08]
street and there are some
not so good maintained properties on the
[23:11]
street and
uh
[23:13]
you know, part of it is we have to do
our job to keep our properties up and
[23:17]
then
you know, hopefully other people will
[23:19]
fall in line and
you know, start taking care of their
[23:22]
property, too.
>> We battle the weeds.
[23:26]
We battle weeds.
Ooh.
[23:33]
» Anybody else notice anything on the
street that needs to
[23:38]
» What was that?
>> be maintained?
[23:39]
» Just the weeds. I can't stand weeds.
Weeds. We do. I say it every single
[23:44]
time. There's weeds everywhere.
One of my college kids walked by the uh
[23:48]
the
sculpture, too. There are and I think
[23:50]
it's important. We are having um
and April can probably speak a little
[23:54]
bit more of this. So, we are having a
home show September 12th. So, we're
[23:56]
going to have off-island people coming
to tour our beautiful island and looking
[24:00]
at some really homes um historically for
and I again, it's kind of goes back to
[24:05]
the July um 250th celebration where
we're just really trying to make the
[24:09]
township shine and like a diamond and I
would really like for some of those
[24:13]
things to be addressed before that
happens on the September 12th.
[24:17]
» Yes, because registration begins on our
home street and so there will be cars
[24:20]
lined up all down the street checking
things out.
[24:25]
» Well, we're not going to be able to do
anything about the trees before then,
[24:28]
but it's just a long-term thing that,
you know, we should
[24:33]
you know, maybe it's we do this on a
yearly basis, you know, every spring we
[24:38]
hire a tree trimmer and whoever's, you
know, has trees that are over- growing
[24:43]
on the sidewalk, um we have those
trimmed.
[24:45]
» Is that something um a township worker
can do? Forgive me for not knowing that
[24:49]
for sure, but is that something that
would be part of it or because it's DDA
[24:53]
they don't?
>> I didn't hear what she said.
[24:55]
» Can the township [clears throat]
staff
[24:56]
» Does the township have staff that does
tree trimming or is that always um
[25:01]
contracted out?
>> No, if there's like you're talking about
[25:04]
small reasonable like a
I don't mean like a regular person could
[25:07]
do it, but yeah. There's certain times
we do send send them out and
[25:11]
um we have them
like trees that have broke off.
[25:15]
I mean those are bigger jobs too that
they do, so you're talking about just
[25:18]
trimming that are in the way like on the
sidewalk and
[25:21]
» Yeah, they're just low-hanging branches.
They're low-hanging branches which
[25:25]
impede.
>> because number one it's safety issue.
[25:28]
» Right.
>> You know, the Township doesn't want and
[25:31]
it might be a county sidewalk, but it's
still a Grosse Ile Township property and
[25:35]
I don't want somebody going down there
walking, you know, with their head down
[25:38]
or whatever just for whatever reason and
getting poked.
[25:41]
» Mhm.
>> So, yeah, no, we we do stuff.
[25:44]
You know, it's under like the emergency
clause or the
[25:47]
And we do clean up. And we do clean up
stuff, so
[25:50]
» And so
>> on my list.
[25:52]
» Okay, yes, so that's something that can
be done. Is that a possibility?
[25:55]
» I think that we've done it. I I
Derek obviously runs the day-to-day
[26:00]
operation and
um
[26:03]
I mean I just I help him out and so I
think we can.
[26:06]
» I guess I'm just kind of pushing on that
cuz I for the weeds again, I'll go back
[26:10]
to the weeds. Susie does not like weeds.
Um that I've talked about the weeds
[26:15]
this entire year thus far and they still
are there. So, what process do we have
[26:19]
that we can implement that and actually
have it come to fruition instead of keep
[26:23]
talking about it. So, talking about the
weeds, now I'm talking about the trees
[26:26]
cuz we have talked about the trees.
>> Can I ask a favor of you guys? Is there
[26:30]
anybody um
can we go I mean I'll help you out even
[26:35]
um can we maybe walk it to get me some
addresses?
[26:39]
» Yeah, absolutely.
>> I mean would that be prudent where you
[26:41]
guys could at least you know
uh say you know, this is definitely a
[26:45]
hazard. You know, something's a hazard,
we're going to deal with it.
[26:49]
One way or another, I mean we make sure
you know, that's a number one priority.
[26:53]
But if you came up, I'm going to talk to
Derek um
[26:57]
tomorrow about a few of these things
everything I have on my list actually,
[27:00]
but
um
[27:03]
if if there's actual like you could say,
you know, in front of a 7832, in front
[27:08]
of 8012, in front of
you know, 7999 Macomb, there's a low
[27:12]
hanging, you know, on on the sidewalk.
>> Mhm.
[27:16]
» Then that would give us at least
something cuz we have you know, we have
[27:18]
those kids still
for a little more in the summer and
[27:24]
they'll go cut it.
I promise they'll go cut it.
[27:27]
» [laughter]
>> You know, the the the group we have
[27:30]
working for us that they do odds and
ends for the DPS and
[27:34]
you know.
>> Like you get the weeds too.
[27:36]
» Are you
>> Well
[27:37]
» Which where are
>> Yeah, I don't know.
[27:38]
» Specifically where are you talking weeds
at the Commons?
[27:41]
» Yes, at the Commons. It drives me crazy.
I turn in there every single day whether
[27:45]
I'm going to work or I'm going to
Kroger's and the weeds are just popping
[27:47]
through the cracks. They're
>> Yeah.
[27:48]
» the the round bushes that we have,
they're growing up and they look like
[27:52]
little little spraket trees growing and
it's kind of embarrassing. I was going
[27:55]
to go pull it the other day, but I was I
had heels on. So
[27:58]
» At the Commons, that should be done by
our landscaper who's you know, cuts that
[28:02]
every every week. So we need to reach
out to him to
[28:05]
in in
we have to do this every year. I mean,
[28:08]
it seems like he doesn't do it unless we
tell him to do it.
[28:11]
» Well, I I'm sure you also know Ron that
and then you've dealt with this in the
[28:14]
past that
we just can't go spray the weeds. I
[28:18]
mean, you know, I can go spray at my
house. I'm a private person. But to
[28:22]
spray to to put weed spray oh, unless
you're talking about go down and pull it
[28:27]
out yourself.
>> about pulling them out.
[28:28]
» [laughter]
>> That's what I'm talking about.
[28:31]
» Okay.
>> You said you had kids still
[28:34]
» Yeah, well, no, I'm saying you know, we
still have
[28:36]
» [laughter]
>> I guess some kids we got some good labor
[28:38]
that
>> Pull them up by the roots so they
[28:40]
usually don't grow back.
>> [laughter]
[28:42]
» They can wear their knee pads from
hockey and kneel down and get them, I
[28:45]
guess. But I'm just saying,
some people want things sprayed and and
[28:49]
you have to go We have different people,
believe it or not, here like at the
[28:53]
airport that have to be certified.
You can't just spray it. Because it's
[28:57]
commercial, it's governmental, there
there's rules to that, but we can get it
[29:01]
done.
You know, let me let me I can need
[29:03]
another piece of paper.
>> [laughter]
[29:12]
» Any other comments on Home Street? I'm
going to add that.
[29:15]
Improvements, weed pulling.
If not, we'll move on to our next item,
[29:20]
which is the director's report.
Obviously, we don't have our director
[29:24]
yet, but hopefully at our next meeting,
we will have one.
[29:27]
Uh chairman's report, other than what I
spoke about today, I don't have anything
[29:30]
else.
Um
[29:32]
Next item is public comment. We have no
public comment, so I will open it up to
[29:37]
Is there any open business by anyone?
>> I just think for the to subcommittee, we
[29:42]
need to
Once we Once you guys get through the
[29:45]
tour, we need to kind of sit down and
talk about some action items for Ladies
[29:49]
Night Out.
>> Absolutely.
[29:50]
» know you know, there's a design for the
going on, but
[29:54]
some of the things that we need to
you know,
[29:57]
» Absolutely. We can do that before.
>> Okay.
[29:59]
» Absolutely.
>> All right.
[30:01]
» Cuz I think some some things we're going
to need to start implementing sooner
[30:04]
than later for that to run efficiently
and be good.
[30:08]
» Mhm.
>> That's our next big event is Ladies
[30:10]
Night Out.
>> And the date is?
[30:14]
» Friday, November 6th.
>> November I believe it is the 6th, yeah.
[30:17]
I believe it is the 6th, yep. And that's
from 5:00 to 9:00.
[30:23]
» When is Paint the Town Red?
>> Paint the
[30:26]
» I'm not sure.
>> Do we have a date for Paint the Town
[30:29]
Red, Marie? Do you know?
>> Yeah.
[30:32]
» I don't know what month it is.
>> I I skipped an event, didn't I?
[30:37]
» Right. That's what I thought.
>> Well, like so September, we have the
[30:40]
house tour.
And then
[30:42]
not for DBA, of course, but it's
Township and Township stuff.
[30:46]
» Yeah, it's October 2nd.
>> Okay, so September is the home tour,
[30:49]
October is paint the town red, November
is ladies night, and December is Island
[30:55]
Glow.
>> Mhm.
[30:57]
And Island Glow doesn't conflict with um
Boris Head at all.
[31:01]
» I don't believe so. It's the
>> It doesn't this year.
[31:03]
» First Friday. Oh, okay. Understood.
>> First year already.
[31:07]
Is that every 4 years?
>> Head year. Yep.
[31:11]
And they start meetings on that, too,
right now.
[31:14]
But, yeah.
So, yeah, Marie, we can you guys we can
[31:17]
all get together and do the subcommittee
and find a day and time. It doesn't have
[31:20]
to be what we were doing before. I think
it was Tuesdays we were doing. We can
[31:24]
find another day and time just to make
sure we're on track.
[31:28]
» Cafe's open for the
>> Oh, perfect. Done.
[31:33]
» Any other?
>> I got just one comment, if I could. I
[31:35]
don't mean to slow you guys down.
>> Nope.
[31:37]
» Um I know it's with Shawn gone, and I
I'm not exactly sure who helps out with,
[31:43]
you know, the the special events on
Friday nights. That's the last one they
[31:46]
just had.
>> Um
[31:48]
» But, I just want to say if anybody um
I think it was Chad and Wendy
[31:53]
» Mhm.
>> kind of
[31:54]
took it.
>> Mhm.
[31:55]
» Uh cuz obviously Shawn's gone, but
anybody else that helped out, and then
[31:58]
all of you people on Macomb Street, it
really went nice. There a lot of
[32:01]
participation. There was a lot of It
really
[32:04]
Um when I went down there, it was
it was pretty crowded. I I was kind of
[32:07]
surprised. Um but, it was seemed well
organized. It seemed, you know,
[32:13]
seemed like there was a lot of people at
each of the shops.
[32:15]
» Perfect.
>> I hope you got a lot of business there.
[32:17]
» I mean, that yeah,
those kind of things don't draw a ton of
[32:21]
sales that night, and that's not why,
you know, that everything is not focused
[32:24]
on sales.
>> Mhm.
[32:25]
» Um but, we um
we had some sales that night, but we had
[32:29]
a lot of interaction with it. There a
lot of dogs. It was really fun.
[32:32]
» Good. Good. Well, I just I was And I
shouldn't say the word surprised. That
[32:36]
probably wasn't the best word. But there
was
[32:39]
many more people there than I expected
and I go down just to
[32:42]
you know, I can't see what's going on or
see if there's
[32:45]
what you got to eat or what you
>> [laughter]
[32:48]
» what's down there.
>> Well, thank you for bringing that up cuz
[32:51]
actually uh Chad and Wendy really they
they they were the ones that helped make
[32:54]
this successful. When Shawn left we were
like, oh kind of
[32:58]
» [laughter]
>> That's right. I thought they took it
[33:01]
over to help out. And I didn't know if
anybody else helped them. I just want to
[33:04]
say thank you. You guys did a really
good job. They did a great job of
[33:08]
» taking it, running with it, but there
was a lot of it seemed like a lot of
[33:11]
participation.
>> Well, I think I actually I got some
[33:14]
feedback from the businesses and people
who live on Macomb Street. Our little
[33:17]
competition we're doing is actually
really fun. So we didn't get to do the
[33:21]
4th of July one for July, but um this
August the dog house was really really
[33:26]
fun. People had all kinds of fun taking
pictures and voting on their favorite. I
[33:30]
don't I still think it was rigged, Chad.
Um but uh
[33:34]
» [clears throat]
[laughter]
[33:36]
» But it was a lot of fun and a lot of
people had they had great comments to
[33:40]
say about how well it it was and they
were very happy.
[33:43]
» Yeah. The dog
>> The painted dog house has just engaged
[33:46]
people.
>> Oh, yeah.
[33:47]
» My orders still aren't from my building.
>> me of an idea that April had that we'll
[33:52]
probably run with, too.
Mhm.
[33:56]
» [laughter]
>> Something like that, yeah.
[34:02]
» Anything else?
We just need to cross I probably would
[34:05]
have gone home.
If there's no other business, I'll
[34:09]
entertain a motion to adjourn.
>> I'll make a motion.
[34:12]
» Motion by Ms. Pusack.
>> Second.
[34:15]
» Supported by Supervisor Porcerelli to
adjourn. All those in favor say aye.
[34:19]
» Aye.
>> All opposed say no. Motion carries.
[34:22]
» Thank you.
[35:24]
» Mhm.
