Parent VO: It’s unreal what you see
on the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway, and
[0:03]
you never know what’s coming next.
[0:05]
[Upbeat tambourine, drums and piano music.]
[0:07]
Parent VO: We decided to go on a
little mother-daughter road trip …
[0:10]
Child VO: … To one of my favorite places.
[0:15]
[Upbeat tambourine, drums and piano music.]

Parent VO: So, at the beginning of our adventure,
we crossed a bridge and went over the Snake River.
[0:25]
Parent VO: The road was getting more narrow.
[0:29]
Child VO: Very windy! And I ate lots of junk food.
[0:32]
Parent VO: Oh yeah, we have to have
junk food because you’re road-tripping.
[0:34]
Parent VO: Oh, and we stopped at
a viewpoint along the way, right?
[0:38]
Child VO: Yeah!
[0:38]
Parent VO: What did we see?
[0:39]
Child VO: The canyon and the river …
[0:41]
Parent VO: And what else?
[0:42]
Child VO: Oh yeah, the waterfall!
[0:43]
Parent VO: That was beautiful.
[0:44]
Parent VO: And you can hike a lot of trails. Yeah,
[0:49]
you can hike down right onto
the river. That was fun.
[0:51]
Parent VO: So we had our first
camping experience in a tent.
[0:56]
Child VO: You woke up a little sore.
[0:59]
Parent VO: I did, because I’m a little old.
[1:00]
Parent VO: And the adventure, I mean,
it’s a great adventure just driving here,
[1:06]
but then your adventure just like,
takes it up to the next level.
[1:09]
Child VO: The jet boat adventure
we went on was really cool. We saw
[1:12]
lots and lots of animals—bears, big horned sheep,
mountain goats, birds, then a big big fish.
[1:23]
Parent VO: The big sturgeon.
[1:26]
Fisherman: Fish on!
[1:27]
[Upbeat drums and guitar music.]
[1:28]
Parent VO: Getting to see a big fish like
that up close … it was like a dinosaur.
[1:32]
Child VO: I was happy to see it go back though.
[1:35]
Child VO: And then in your adventure, if
you sit on the back, you get very wet.
[1:39]
Parent VO: It can be a wet adventure. (Mom laughs)
[1:41]
Child VO: Just take it from me, believe me.
[1:43]
[Upbeat piano and drums music.]
[1:44]

Parent VO: I think if you take the time to get
off the main road, it forces you to slow down.
[1:51]
And if you embrace that, then these byways
become really valuable. It’s kind of like magic.
[1:57]
Parent VO: It really is a special place
everyone should come and experience.
