[17:27] whereas in 1980 President Jimmy Carter

[17:30] designated the first week of March as

[17:33] National Women's history week noting

[17:36] that quote the achievements leadership

[17:39] courage strength and love of the women

[17:42] who built America was as vital as that

[17:46] of the men whose names we know so well

[17:49] end of quote

[17:51] whereas since 1987 women's history month

[17:54] has been officially recognized by the

[17:56] United States Congress and celebrated

[17:58] during March

[18:00] and whereas women's history month is

[18:03] dedicated to the accomplishments and

[18:04] achievements of women of every race

[18:07] class and ethnic background throughout United States history that

[18:12] are often overlooked

[18:14] and whereas the theme for 2023's women's

[18:17] history month is celebrating women who

[18:20] tell our stories honoring women in every

[18:23] Community who have devoted their lives

[18:25] and talents to producing art pursuing

[18:28] truth and reflecting The Human Condition

[18:31] decade after decade

[18:33] and whereas throughout time women

[18:36] authors songwriters Scholars playwrights

[18:40] performers and grandmothers have long

[18:43] Been instrumental in passing on our

[18:45] heritage in word and in print to

[18:47] communicate the lessons and experiences

[18:49] of those who came before us helping to

[18:52] expand our understanding and strengthen

[18:54] our connections with each other

[18:59] and whereas recognizing the achievements

[19:02] of women in all facets of life science

[19:04] Community government literature art

[19:08] sports medicine has a huge impact on the

[19:12] development of self-respect and new

[19:14] opportunities for girls and young women

[19:17] and whereas women have been

[19:19] inspirational leaders not only in

[19:21] advancing their own rights of suffrage

[19:23] and equal opportunity but also in other

[19:26] social justice movements including the

[19:28] Abolitionist Movement the industrial

[19:30] labor movement the civil rights movement

[19:32] and the gay rights movement now

[19:35] therefore be it resolve that the Mayor

[19:37] Gary R McCarthy and the city council of

[19:40] the city of Schenectady do hereby pause

[19:43] in their deliberations to recognize and

[19:45] celebrate women's History Month in March

[19:48] 2023 and acknowledge and salute the

[19:53] critical role that women have played in

[19:55] the development success and achievements

[19:57] of the city of Schenectady and the

[19:59] United States

[20:40] be interviewing five instrumental women

[20:42] in our community

[20:44] and they'll be talking about their her

[20:46] story in the city of Schenectady I have

[20:48] one slot open so if you're interested

[20:54] a couple more folks and talking about

[20:57] the mark they've made not only in

[20:59] Schenectady but in their own lives what

[21:01] they see is history and for 135 years

[21:05] that is where we are this year 130 five

[21:09] years in Schenectady

[21:11] we've been around since 1888 and when we

[21:15] talk about women we're talking about

[21:17] trans inclusive we work with everyone

[21:19] who identifies themselves as a woman and

[21:23] that work is never ending and and we

[21:25] appreciate the city council support and

[21:27] all of that work and the mayor support

[21:29] and all of that work for 135 years and

[21:32] we couldn't do it without you and it

[21:33] takes us all so I just want to say thank

[21:36] you I appreciate you all and women's

[21:38] History Month lives on as does the YW in

[21:41] Schenectady with all of your support

[23:12] Lady Liberty Statue be moved back to

[23:14] Freedom Park and the possibility of

[23:16] fundraising for this endeavor

[23:18] from Harold and Debbie schneiderwind an

[23:22] email requesting that all garbage and

[23:24] white goods continued to be picked up

[23:25] weekly they also asked that yard weights

[23:28] be collected beginning in March services

[23:31] are dwindling and becoming difficult to

[23:33] access

[23:34] under petitions there were none

[25:02] inconvenience uh tonight and tomorrow

[25:04] encourage people to not drive if you

[25:07] don't have to uh

[25:10] take one shovel on each side of a fire

[25:13] hydrant and if you can get your vehicles

[25:17] off the street it makes it easier for

[25:20] the plows to get through get this no

[25:23] move back so that again we can maintain

[25:27] access for Public Safety vehicles and

[25:29] people can get up and down the streets
