[14:45] months in addition to being the signal

[14:47] supervisor and whereas on August 11th

[14:50] 1989 John received his certificate of

[14:52] achievement for a completion of the

[14:53] signal signal timing organization

[14:55] program Transit syt -7f training

[15:00] provided by the New York State energy

[15:02] Department office and whereas serving as

[15:05] the signal supervisor John's numerous

[15:07] duties included overseeing the

[15:08] installation maintenance and repair of

[15:11] electrical and electronic traffic

[15:12] signals and controllers and of course

[15:15] being responsible being responsible for

[15:17] all signs in the city of

[15:19] skincity and whereas for many years John

[15:22] has worked on the smart city project the

[15:24] goal of which is to help build an

[15:25] environment of sustainability efficiency

[15:27] and improved quality of Life by

[15:29] leveraging technology and Innovation for

[15:32] the betterment of residents and

[15:33] businesses and

[15:34] skincity and whereas some components of

[15:37] that project are the National Grid rev

[15:39] demonstration project smart lighting and

[15:41] the climate smart projects including

[15:43] solar and electric vehicles and whereas

[15:46] in 2013 the city of skincity Mayor

[15:49] McCarthy and John kucho were recognized

[15:51] for assisting the be Bethesda house with

[15:54] Pho Volk system installation project the

[15:57] project consisted of installing solar

[15:59] modules on the roof and installing a

[16:02] conduit from the roof which Carri the

[16:04] free electricity produced by the system

[16:06] to the building's utility system thanks

[16:08] to this project Bethesda house produced

[16:10] free electricity and saved money on

[16:12] their utility bills and whereas in 2018

[16:15] John kucho was responsible for

[16:17] overseeing the roll out of municip

[16:19] municity a cloud-based software program

[16:22] developed to help municipalities combat

[16:24] Urban blight and to help properly keep

[16:26] track of various properties and whereas

[16:29] these highlights are just a few of the

[16:31] project John has been involved in and

[16:32] his lengthy career with the city of

[16:34] skincity now therefore be resolved that

[18:41] Lisa Adam was born and raised in skena

[18:45] High School her family owned a

[18:47] restaurant in the city called Mike

[18:49] called Mike's Pizza Adobe which was

[18:51] located on State Street and she where

[18:53] she worked from her childhood and

[18:54] developed her work ethic and whereas

[18:57] Lisa began working for the the city of

[18:59] skincity in 1987 first as a part-time

[19:02] clerk typist with the within the health

[19:04] Bureau during her employment with the

[19:06] city Lisa has worked in many different

[19:08] positions where she gained a vast amount

[19:10] of experience and knowledge and whereas

[19:12] in 1988 she transferred to the finance

[19:15] department holding the titles of data

[19:18] entry machine operator senior audit

[19:20] Clerk and principal billing audit and

[19:23] accounts payable clerk during that time

[19:26] she was in put in charge of the accounts

[19:27] payable and then the purchasing

[19:29] department and whereas in 2008 Lisa went

[19:32] to work for the Department of utilities

[19:34] and Facilities where she then became

[19:36] part of the information technology

[19:38] department implementing training and

[19:40] programming the city's Tyler munus

[19:42] Financial software and whereas Lisa

[19:45] along with co-workers worked with the

[19:46] city for Technologies and government to

[19:48] design and implement the Unicity

[19:50] software working along with other

[19:52] municipalities she was part of

[19:54] developing the New York State cold

[19:56] officials data exchange she also oversaw

[19:59] all the signs signals street lights and

[20:01] posting of work orders to ensure

[20:03] completeness and accuracy and filled in

[20:05] for the signal superintendent when he

[20:06] was

[20:07] unavailable now therefore it be resolved

[20:10] that the connected city council and

[20:11] Mayor Gary AR McCarthy do hereby pausing

[25:24] minutes but they don't often let me

[25:26] speak in public so it might be a little

[25:27] bit more

[25:30] as was stated I've dedicated my entire

[25:32] career to making life easier in the

[25:34] world for students disability is the

[25:36] largest minority class in the world and

[25:39] as Emily ladu States in her book

[25:41] demystifying disabilities disability is

[25:44] the only identity that anyone can

[25:46] suddenly take on at any

[25:48] time think about that for one moment

[25:51] when you break your leg you need to use

[25:53] a wheelchair you're disabled whether

[25:56] it's temporary or permanently you are

[25:57] disable disabled at that moment as a

[26:00] nation we live longer and longer and

[26:03] every person in this room will probably

[26:05] be disabled or has been at some point in

[26:07] their

[26:09] life the problem is as that we

[26:12] hide the visibly disabled because we're

[26:15] afraid of that and we shouldn't and we

[26:17] need to stop we're masking ourselves and

[26:20] we can't as a society we will do

[26:22] anything but seek the help that we need

[26:25] and give people the help they need

[26:28] that's why it took so long for me to get

[26:29] my diagnosis as autistic and

[26:33] ADHD but I always felt the shame of that

[26:36] inner

[26:37] ableism and it starts really really

[26:40] early and it starts when you're

[26:42] tiny I was in the first grade when

[26:45] sister Elaine yelled at me for coloring

[26:46] outside of the lines in front of the

[26:48] entire

[26:49] class thank Betty I have a mother with

[26:52] the sense of social justice and Humanity

[26:54] that she taught me she brought me to the

[26:57] eye doctor I got glasses then she

[27:00] brought me back to school and she had my

[27:02] teacher apologize to me just knowing

[27:05] that I deserve that apology and that

[27:07] every teacher should get each child the

[27:10] grace to assume they are trying every

[27:13] single day their

[27:14] best has shaped my entire life and my

[27:17] career teachers are not infallible we

[27:20] make

[27:21] mistakes but

[27:23] sometimes sometimes they're big

[27:25] sometimes they're small but every single

[27:26] time we need to give kid KS Grace and we

[27:29] need to give them the apologies they

[27:32] deserve my little brother who's all

[27:34] grown up now makes way more money than I

[27:36] do would never have survived a classroom

[27:40] as they are

[27:41] today he needs to move to think he

[27:44] literally walks 10 miles a day now he's

[27:47] the kid that moves so much that it makes

[27:50] you nervous the kind of kid who breaks

[27:52] his arm roller skating on a Saturday and

[27:55] doesn't tell anybody until Wednesday and

[27:58] when they get to the the doctors want to

[28:00] call CPS thank God Dr scandin knew us he

[28:04] couldn't sit still at a desk all day he

[28:07] still can't he's literally physically

[28:09] not able to he didn't go to college but

[28:13] he's read more books and is more

[28:15] intelligent than any other person I've

[28:17] ever met in my entire

[28:19] life I see kids like him every single

[28:22] day being sent out of classrooms in this

[28:25] nation often times in handcuffs

[28:28] because the entire world changed the

[28:31] world was locked down we as Educators

[28:34] had to learn how to teach differently

[28:36] and kids had to learn how to learn

[28:38] differently we came back from school and

[28:41] it was like Wayne said game on and the

[28:44] education system went right back to the

[28:46] status quo of kids sitting in rows being

[28:49] quiet and taking bubble tests it's not

[28:52] party time and it is not excellent the

[28:55] rest of society is adapting to the ever

[28:58] changing world when will our schools do

[29:01] that when I work with kids I don't just

[29:03] see a kid choosing to be a apathetic

[29:06] aggressive or what I usually hear

[29:09] dumb I see a human being with endless

[29:13] potential to change our world who's

[29:16] trying to communicate something but they

[29:18] just don't know how to communicate it

[29:21] yet I absorb and I catalog all of that

[29:24] information the verbal and the

[29:25] non-verbal communication because all

[29:27] Behavior is

[29:30] communication then I use it all to make

[29:32] sure they can thrive in our

[29:35] society anyone who knows me knows that I

[29:38] probably tripped coming up here I almost

[29:41] fell over over

[29:43] there I've often been told I'm clumsy

[29:45] and I need to watch out what I'm

[29:47] doing now as a 47-year-old autistic and

[29:50] ADHD disabled

[29:52] woman I know I have a neurode Divergent

[29:56] brain and one of the traits of this

[29:58] brain is a disabling condition called a

[30:02] praia basically my brain says go over

[30:05] there and my body says you got this they

[30:08] don't got

[30:09] it I have spent years feeling badly

[30:11] about myself because I had no

[30:14] coordination no matter how much I

[30:16] practice some skills I may never be able

[30:19] to get them done that doesn't make me a

[30:22] bad person or mean that I don't

[30:23] contribute to

[30:24] society it just means that I had to

[30:26] learn how to adapt my EnV environment so

[30:29] that I could Thrive and help others

[30:31] Thrive my superpower allows me to change

[30:35] the world for those kids and it's a

[30:38] result of my magical neurode Divergent

[30:40] brain you see when I look up I see

[30:44] computer screens with a B bazillion open

[30:47] tabs and I'm not just saying that

[30:49] figuratively I can actually see

[30:51] information in front of me and then I

[30:53] can use my hands and my mind to sort the

[30:56] information and I open in close Habs and

[30:59] I make connections that no one else can

[31:01] often see for

[31:02] years I can sus out information to the

[31:06] point that sometimes people think I'm a

[31:08] psychic no I'm neurod Divergent

[31:11] empathetic as my mom likes to say every

[31:14] student I see in front of me and every

[31:17] coworker is a living breathing human

[31:20] being they have their own struggles and

[31:22] joys some just need more

[31:24] support some are smarter some are more

[31:27] talented

[31:28] than anyone sitting here today even my

[31:31] little brother if you even made it in

[31:32] Billy if you cannot truly feel that in

[31:35] your

[31:35] soul I really suggest you take a good

[31:38] look at yourself read the book

[31:40] demystifying disabilities and explore

[31:43] your own internalized

[31:45] ableism I'd like to dedicate this

[31:47] resolution in my work to two very

[31:50] important children that have touched my

[31:54] life one I never had the blessing to

[31:57] meet

[31:58] one saves me over and over again every

[32:00] day Samantha Humphrey should be sitting

[32:03] in a classroom at skincity high school

[32:05] tomorrow

[32:07] morning let's not forget that a child in

[32:10] our community was

[32:11] murdered and let's all strive to do

[32:13] better be better and be kind to every

[32:16] single person you

[32:18] meet the other child I want to speak

[32:20] about is estan

[32:22] noé I met her as a child in need who

[32:24] made a mistake

[32:30] she grew in front of my eyes into a

[32:32] bright and beautiful and loving mother

[32:35] and business owner some of you might

[32:37] have known her as this connected sweets

[32:39] woman who was then there for me when I

[32:41] needed her the

[32:43] most she was one of the best humans I've

[32:45] ever met in my life and had the pleasure

[32:47] of knowing and loving and I was beyond

[32:49] devastated to lose her last year she's

[32:52] my angel and she constantly watches over

[32:54] me I do what I do for the Samanthas and

[32:56] the estaphan and the the lucases and the

[32:58] joies and all of them all of the kids of

[33:01] the world and I'll continue to do it to

[33:03] the best of my ability with every single

[33:04] five of my being until I join each of

[33:07] them in conclusion until our world

[33:09] values the expertise and the Magical

[33:12] brains of all of our teachers

[33:15] paraprofessionals

[33:17] custodians and other Direct Care

[33:19] personnel with the same level of pay and

[33:23] respect that we give security monitors

[33:26] and administrators

[33:28] based on our education and experience we

[33:31] will continue to fail as a

[33:33] society treat anyone you meet whether

[33:36] they can speak or cannot speak walk see

[33:40] or think like you do with the same

[33:42] respect and Assumption of Competency as

[33:45] you would want for

[33:46] yourself if you're disabled please be

[33:49] loud and be proud about it make sure

[33:52] that people realize that disability

[33:53] isn't something to be ashamed of or

[33:55] something to be pied make it okay to

[33:58] Flap when you're happy make it okay to

[34:01] rock when you're sad take a break to

[34:03] regulate yourself bring your own hamic

[34:05] chair to meetings normalize being to

[34:08] thrive being able to thrive as a person

[34:12] because the pursuit of happiness is not

[34:15] just

[34:16] survival it's to thrive and that is a

[34:18] basic human right and fre all oppressed

[36:05] County whereas May is dedicated to

[36:07] National preservation month also known

[36:10] as historical preservation month the

[36:13] month celebrates the nation's Heritage

[36:15] through historic places organizations

[36:18] across the country promote a variety of

[36:20] activities on the local state and

[36:23] National

[36:24] levels whether you are interested in

[36:26] touring historical sites are helping to

[36:28] preserve the history in your backyard

[36:30] there is something for everyone whereas

[36:33] not only the places worth preserving but

[36:36] the stories behind them are too

[36:39] everywhere we go there is more to

[36:41] discover whether the story is found in

[36:43] archives or addicts you guys was

[36:47] there

[36:49] um it consists of board of direct uh it

[36:53] can addicts peeling back the layers of

[36:56] time helps us to understand the past

[36:58] recording stories helps us to provide a

[37:01] rich and Lively history of the people

[37:03] who lived and worked here we are a

[37:06] better image we can better imagine their

[37:09] hardships what they have overcome and

[37:11] the difficult decisions they made in the

[37:14] face of

[37:16] adversity whereas SKC Heritage

[37:19] Foundation the foundation is a volunteer

[37:22] nonprofit organization whose mission is

[37:25] to Foster historic preservation in SKC

[37:28] County it consists of a board of

[37:30] directors whose members are dedicated to

[37:33] the principles of historic preservation

[37:36] have expertise in the field and are

[37:38] committed to advancing these principles

[37:40] it is registered with the state of New

[37:42] York the Bureau of

[37:45] Charities whereas it is a true Testament

[37:48] to the dedication and passion passion of

[37:50] the people involved preserving history

[45:06] the floor for a vote and make it public

[45:10] stand those who are in favor and those

[45:17] help us as the people understand your

[45:20] position on a matter that is a red line for us

[47:35] careers and their Futures on the line

[48:59] capital region and I'm a Palestinian

[49:01] American who's been blessed with the

[49:02] opportunity to live in the West Bank I

[49:05] want to just take a moment to introduce

[49:07] you to what was what my life was like

[49:10] living in the West Bank me start with

[49:13] the school bus to school what should

[49:15] have been a 7-minute ride became a

[49:17] 50-minute ride because the intersection

[49:19] connecting my town to the city where my

[49:22] school was in Palestinians weren't

[49:24] allowed to use it it was a segregated

[49:26] Road only for Israelis and when we had

[49:29] to go on a detour 50 minutes we'd stop

[49:32] at a checkpoint some days and be

[49:33] randomly searched taken off the school

[49:35] bus have our bags and bus searched the

[49:38] occupation of water when we'd come home

[49:40] from school on random days and find that

[49:42] the Israeli authorities had said there's

[49:44] not enough water to go around for

[49:45] everybody today there's no water for

[49:47] your village meanwhile across the street

[49:50] the Israeli settlements 24/7 access to

[49:52] water to

[49:55] electricity despite this and many other

[49:58] small or big hardships that we

[50:01] faced I'm not I could not be more

[50:04] thankful to be Palestinian and I am so

[50:07] lucky to be from the West Bank because

[50:10] had I been from a town one hour West I

[50:13] might be trapped in Gazza right now I

[50:15] might be stuck under the rubber right

[50:17] now I might have had to bury loved ones

[50:19] lost limbs had my house bombed my

[50:22] University

[50:24] bombed maybe I would have been a victim

[50:26] of an

[50:27] strike so why does it matter that you

[50:30] hear our local Representatives call for

[50:31] a ceasefire I'd like to think that if I

[50:34] was born inza stuck under the rubble

[50:36] you'd still value my life the same way

[50:38] if I was there as you do that I'm here

[50:41] and it doesn't matter where I'm from

[50:43] what my skin color is what my faith is

[50:45] that you'd value my life regardless

[51:24] it's important to note that the 15th of

[51:26] May 1948 holds a very tragic historic

[51:29] date for the Palestinians it is the

[51:31] catastrophe that befell

[51:32] them namely that the state of Israel was

[51:36] established on the death destruction

[51:37] dismembered bodies of Palestinians and

[51:39] the destruction of their homes including

[51:41] my wife whose family are

[51:46] refugees

[51:47] similarly it is true that Jews had fled

[51:51] Europe to flee religious persecution and

[51:54] at the same time they established their

[51:55] state by destroying a Palestinian

[51:57] Society just as it is true that the

[52:00] founding fathers of this country were

[52:02] fleeing religious persecution in Western

[52:05] [Applause]

[52:06] Europe and they established this country

[52:10] on the backs of slaves and on the

[52:11] genocide of Native

[52:17] Americans if you'll allow me I'd like to

[52:19] speak about my family who lives there I

[52:21] have relatives in Jerusalem who are from

[52:23] the quote unquote full citizens of

[52:25] Israel who enjoy complete rights my

[52:28] conversations with them are basically

[52:29] non-existent now because their phone

[52:31] lines are tapped and they will be thrown

[52:33] into jail if they say anything to

[52:35] criticize the

[52:36] state my relatives in the West Bank are

[52:40] basically living under house arrest with

[52:41] a completely stalled economy their cash

[52:44] crop the olive they were denied half of

[52:46] their Harvest this year when I went in

[52:49] 2004 I could access Farmland that I

[52:52] couldn't access in 2009 Grandpa why

[52:54] can't we go there now because

[52:57] that road is just for Israelis well what

[52:59] happens if we cross that road nothing

[53:01] will happen to you grandson but I will

[53:04] get shot if I cross that

[53:06] road and that's nothing compared to

[53:10] Gaza but it has everything to do with

[53:12] Gazza because the game plan is to

[53:14] suffocate the Palestinians in the West

[53:16] Bank so that it becomes another Gazza

[53:20] and as we're talking about suffocation

[53:22] we have to recognize that people aren't

[53:24] eating about a month ago

[53:30] a Girl by the name of Charlotte busky 5

[53:33] years old and connected was found dead

[53:35] in her home and police came to the

[53:38] conclusion that she was starved by her

[53:41] father in this

[53:44] town and he faces up to 18 years in

[53:46] prison which I think is very light

[53:49] personally um so then what then should

[53:52] be said about a country in Israel who

[53:54] makes it their public policy to St

[53:56] starve a captive population in

[54:06] Gazza happy belated Mother's Day for the

[54:08] mothers

[54:10] here and yet it's very difficult to

[54:13] celebrate Mother's Day when the Bedrock

[54:15] of

[55:14] name is Barbara Smith I'm a resident of

[55:16] leam New York but for 37 years I was a

[55:20] resident of uh the city of Albany uh I

[55:24] served on the Albany common Council for

[55:26] two terms from 2006 until

[55:30] 2013 so following that I was invited by

[55:35] and hired by the mayor to establish the

[55:37] first Equity agenda for the city of

[55:39] Albany so I have 12 years of government

[55:43] service late in life um I'm here today

[55:47] to of course support the that the conc

[55:51] city council

[55:53] passes uh introduces and passes

[55:56] a ceasefire resolution as you well know

[56:01] the common Council of Albany passed the

[56:04] first ceasefire resolution in New York

[56:07] state on January the 4th I was a part of

[56:11] the small group that worked night and

[56:15] day to help that to happen many many

[56:18] more people than the eight of us and

[56:20] there were only eight of us who worked

[56:21] very very hard the fact that I had been

[56:24] a member of the common Council was

[56:26] helpful in that context because I knew

[56:28] what the rules were I knew what was

[56:30] possible and it was some of the most

[56:32] important work I wrote that the night

[56:35] that actually I think it was the uh

[56:37] night in J uh in December when we went

[56:40] to the common Council not the night that

[56:41] it passed but I wrote to friends of mine

[56:44] I said this is some of the most

[56:45] meaningful political work that I have

[56:47] ever been involved

[56:52] in and I have been involved in working

[56:55] for justice since I was a teenager in

[56:57] Cleveland Ohio in the early

[57:00] 1960s I said I thought that this was

[57:03] some of the most meaningful political

[57:05] work that I had ever been involved in

[57:07] and one of the reasons it was so

[57:08] meaningful to me is because it's we did

[57:12] something that means much to me that is

[57:15] really kind of the Bedrock of why I do

[57:18] many of the things I do that is we

[57:20] worked in Coalition across

[57:23] differences um we worked with members of

[57:25] the Muslim community of the Arab

[57:27] American community of the Palestinian

[57:30] American uh community of the Central

[57:32] Asian Community not just in Albany but

[57:36] in the entire region to get that passed

[57:39] just like tonight with this standing

[57:41] room only crowd here in your city hall

[57:45] hundreds of people hundreds of people

[57:48] came to support the resolution that

[57:50] eventually was passed and you know I

[57:52] have been to a lot of Council meetings I

[57:54] was on for eight years I was going to

[57:56] Council meetings before I was on the

[57:58] common Council so I have been to many

[58:01] Council meetings I had never seen people

[58:02] come out by the hundreds to support uh

[58:06] what they needed to support that's the

[58:07] end of my time I just want to tell you

[58:09] about an article that I hope that I can

[58:11] send to your uh Clerk and whoever passes out and tears things with

[58:17] um with people on the console it's an

[58:20] article that says it's from the nation

[58:22] it's dated March 21st 2024 100 100

[58:26] American communities have called for a

[58:29] Gaza ceasefire resolution

[58:33] 100 so this is not this is not an

[58:36] outlier this is not strange to do at

[58:39] certain times people have to stand on

[58:41] the right side of History I hope that

[58:42] this connected city council does the

[58:45] [Applause]

[59:19] calling for this on Saturday I attended

[59:22] the Hamilton Hill collaborative mural

[59:24] unveiling through your mother's eyes it

[59:26] is centered around mothers and sons

[59:28] specifically those Sons whose lives were

[59:29] cut short by acts of violence medical

[59:32] violence in the case of Jerry Burell

[59:34] vigilante and police violence in the

[59:36] case of Martin Luther King Jr EMT till

[59:38] Tamir rice and George Floyd today is the

[59:41] 39th anniversary of the move bombing in

[59:43] Philadelphia in

[59:46] 1985 police raided and bombarded the

[59:50] headquarters to move a black liberation

[59:52] group founded in the early 1970s the

[59:55] group fought for an end to redlining and

[59:57] housing discrimination the group was

[1:00:00] accused of making terrorist threats in

[1:00:03] 1996 a Federal Court ruled that the city

[1:00:05] used excessive force and violated

[1:00:07] constitutional Protections in 2021

[1:00:10] Princeton University forensic

[1:00:12] anthropology course allegedly did a case

[1:00:14] study using the remains of two children

[1:00:16] killed in aerial bombing the University

[1:00:18] of Pennsylvania Museum of archaeology

[1:00:20] and anthropology held the remains before

[1:00:23] transferring them to Princeton the

[1:00:25] medical examiner's office found a box

[1:00:28] labeled move containing uncrated remains

[1:00:33] how is this relevant to the need for a

[1:00:35] ceasefire resolution in SKC the things

[1:00:38] that this very body should be shocked

[1:00:40] and shaken by are happening to people in

[1:00:42] Palestine right

[1:00:47] now every every single part of what I

[1:00:50] read is an everyday reality for

[1:00:52] Palestinians for being Palestinians the

[1:00:55] same way that what happened to all of

[1:00:57] those people right here in this country

[1:00:59] happened because they were black in the

[1:01:01] moment those in power saw no issue with

[1:01:04] the inhumane treatment of one particular

[1:01:06] group excuses were made the same is true

[1:01:09] today the value of human life is not

[1:01:12] treated as equal if you believe

[1:01:14] otherwise it will not be understood by

[1:01:17] your silence it will be known by your

[1:01:19] words and your actions right now it is

[1:01:22] US dollars that are paying for the

[1:01:23] murder of Palestinians the over whelming

[1:01:26] majority of civilians especially women

[1:01:28] and children if the people who represent

[1:01:30] this city and are in charge of making

[1:01:33] decisions in the best interest of its

[1:01:35] residents are not able to condemn

[1:01:37] egregious acts of violence why would

[1:01:40] should we believe that you will be moved

[1:01:42] to help those of us right

[1:01:49] here the residents the residents in this

[1:01:52] city need housing like those that were

[1:01:53] bombed in Philadelphia in 1985 the

[1:01:56] residents in this city need health care

[1:01:57] just like Jerry Burell did the money

[1:01:59] that is being sent to Israel to kill

[1:02:01] would be better used in connecti to heal

[1:02:04] are our residents not worthy of your

[1:02:06] advocacy as elected officials as elected

[1:02:10] officials we we cuz I am an elected

[1:02:13] official as elected officials we are to

[1:02:15] use our position for the betterment of

[1:02:17] our community always a resolution from

[1:02:19] the city council would send a clear

[1:02:20] message that our residents deserve the

[1:02:22] resources necessary for their basic

[1:02:24] needs and more a ceasefire resolution

[1:02:26] says that SKC city council condemns

[1:02:28] violence and prioritizes all life this

[1:04:39] here to do a history Point by point or

[1:04:42] whether your facts or my facts are more

[1:04:45] to the point to this issue or in fact

[1:04:48] correct but I will say that today as I

[1:04:52] mentioned sorrow and

[1:04:54] joy at weddings of Jewish folks you even

[1:04:58] might have seen it on the movies where

[1:04:59] the groom steps on the glass that glass

[1:05:03] is the broken synagogue in Jerusalem of

[1:05:07] 70

[1:05:08] CE a presence of Jews in Israel from

[1:05:12] thousands of years

[1:05:15] ago my continued Jewish studies as an

[1:05:19] adult is connected me to Israel our l l

[1:05:36] deepened my understanding of the pain of

[1:05:38] those who now live in Gaza the West Bank

[1:05:41] in Jordan those who previously lived in

[1:05:44] Israel's 1948 borders that both people's

[1:05:49] experience deep pain is

[1:05:52] incontrovertible yet the actions of some

[1:05:55] want to deny the pain of the other I do

[1:05:58] not as I listened and heard in the first

[1:06:01] of these City Council meetings the pain

[1:06:04] runs deep among those who speak in favor

[1:06:07] of the local body enter entertaining a

[1:06:09] ceasefire

[1:06:11] resolution intended to address

[1:06:13] International

[1:06:15] Affairs yet the city council's

[1:06:17] jurisdiction is not

[1:06:19] International it can't broker much hope

[1:06:21] for peace can't address what happens the

[1:06:24] day after or deal with the necessities

[1:06:26] of the details of a seafire we have

[1:06:29] heard these resolutions waved

[1:06:32] around advocating one perspective very

[1:06:35] much like placards and Banners can't

[1:06:37] possibly contain the nuances of it all

[1:06:40] instead it's like we won they lost that

[1:06:43] is not the kind of resolution that will

[1:06:44] bring our community together and I end

[1:06:46] by saying I believe it's submitted for

[1:06:49] the record a statement on on behalf of

[1:06:52] Rabbi M Matt Cutler David Posner from

[1:06:54] the jccc Robert kovat from Jewish

[1:06:57] Federation and Rabbi Spitzer from

[1:06:59] congregation

[1:08:07] in Conflict where we learned about the

[1:08:08] attributes that make a conflict a war

[1:08:11] there must be two or more sides and

[1:08:13] there must be organized violence one

[1:08:15] military versus another not a military

[1:08:18] versus civilians like it is in Rafa as

[1:08:20] we speak and it must be reciprocal

[1:08:24] violence both both sides must be subject

[1:08:27] to the the to and committing similar

[1:08:30] levels of violence which all of us know

[1:08:34] has not been the case in Palestine for

[1:08:36] the last 76

[1:08:43] years none of the requirements have been

[1:08:46] met to call the current conflict in

[1:08:48] Palestine anything other than ethnic

[1:08:51] cleansing what we are seeing is a

[1:08:54] genocide and your children have been

[1:08:57] learning through our public education

[1:09:00] institutions about genocide for years

[1:09:02] and we are saying enough the young

[1:09:05] members of this community who you claim

[1:09:07] only when it is beneficial are begging

[1:09:09] you to do something consider and pass a

[1:09:12] piece of legislation at the bare minimum

[1:09:15] calling for a ceasefire my University

[1:09:17] student

[1:09:20] Senate was able to write and pass one

[1:09:23] calling for a ceasefire and div m in

[1:09:26] just a few weeks Albany city council did

[1:09:28] it did one calling for a ceasefire in a

[1:09:31] few months and you all won't budge we

[1:09:34] know what resistance to genocide looks

[1:09:36] like we are finally learning what true

[1:09:39] diverse Coalition building and Community

[1:09:41] looks like through this movement for

[1:09:43] Liberation skc's pretty prettily painted

[1:09:46] walls are still walls not Bridges

[1:09:48] without working against Injustice for

[1:09:50] all we know we know we need ceasefire

[1:09:54] resolutions at all government levels and

[1:09:56] divestment but our elected officials

[1:09:58] like yourself our Representatives will

[1:10:01] not listen we are being brutalized on

[1:10:03] our campuses in the streets deny job

[1:10:06] opportunities and face hatred because we

[1:10:08] speak out but we persist because

[1:10:10] Palestinians are being indiscriminately

[1:10:12] bombed every day because Palestinian

[1:10:14] mothers celebrated Mother's Day Without

[1:10:16] adequate pre- and post-natal care with

[1:10:19] Starving Children and with dead children

[1:10:22] we still find the courage to stand up in

[1:10:23] the face of indifference apathy Pro

[1:10:26] genocidal bodies like this one

[1:10:39] limbs without anesthesia because

[1:10:41] Palestinians are in actual recorded

[1:10:54] apathy and abuse at City Council

[1:10:56] meetings in our universities because

[1:10:57] there are no more universities in Gaza

[1:10:59] because six-year-old Hinn died alone

[1:11:01] amongst her family's corpses because the

[1:11:03] Israeli occupation forces that our

[1:11:06] government funds killed the aid workers

[1:11:08] who went to go save her I will stand

[1:11:12] here and I will shame elected leader

[1:11:14] leaders until there is a ceasefire

[1:11:16] resolution passed through this body

[1:11:18] until there's an end to an occupation of

[1:11:20] Palestine until Gaza is no longer an
