[7:49]
floor regarding General City
[7:52]
business and I have six people signed up
[7:55]
to speak
[7:59]
and the first person the first name is
[8:01]
Ashley and I'm not sure the last
[8:10]
name hello council members um Madame
[8:13]
President mayor um my name is Ashley
[8:16]
ryby R um this is my first ever time
[8:20]
speaking at a council meeting
[8:23]
um I'm here today as a deeply concerned
[8:26]
Community member um mother of two small
[8:28]
children
[8:30]
um I reside in the city of
[8:33]
skincity I just am here to say How
[8:36]
Deeply disappointed and in some cases
[8:38]
ashamed I am of my elected officials
[8:42]
from the top of the federal level down
[8:45]
through the state to the
[8:49]
county for nine months I have witnessed
[8:53]
our government Aid and a bet the Israeli
[8:56]
government in Waging War and D
[8:59]
destruction and death with
[9:03]
impuy think two meetings ago I listened
[9:06]
to the most ridiculous claim made over
[9:10]
and over in pre-written scripts that
[9:13]
calling for a cessation of this violence
[9:16]
equates to Jew
[9:20]
hatred it is insulting to the
[9:22]
intelligence into the notion of Peace
[9:25]
itself to say that the Mass Slaughter of
[9:28]
children and innocence is
[9:32]
necessary I wish peace and safety for
[9:34]
all but we are never going to get there
[9:37]
by obliterating entire cities with bombs
[9:41]
and dispossessing people of their land
[9:43]
their home their livelihoods their
[9:45]
dignities and their basic human rights
[9:49]
what kind of precedent are we setting
[9:51]
for our future and for our
[9:53]
children it is absolutely absurd the
[9:56]
starvation the torture the maming of
[9:59]
children children the depraved levels of
[10:01]
violence and callous cruelty here go
[10:04]
beyond the
[10:05]
imagination yet those who speak in favor
[10:08]
of stopping this violence are vilified
[10:11]
we are called divisive we are called
[10:13]
terrorists we are called
[10:16]
anti-semitic what kind of precedent is
[10:19]
this
[10:20]
setting I've called countless times
[10:22]
Congress people my Senators I have
[10:25]
written letters I have signed petitions
[10:28]
I have done everything Avenue to hear
[10:30]
people at the federal to have people at
[10:32]
the federal level hear me and it's
[10:34]
falling on deaf ears I see it falling
[10:37]
mostly on deaf ears
[10:40]
here I come to you as our elected
[10:43]
officials to hear your community's voice
[10:46]
because this is not just a federal issue
[10:49]
this is something that affects us all over the planet it's a human rights
[10:53]
issue it's an environmental issue it's a
[10:57]
national security issue it is a mental
[11:00]
health issue it is anti-Semitic and
[11:03]
islamophobic issue it is a taxpayer
[11:06]
issue it is a personal family
[11:09]
issue so please hear us a diverse group
[11:12]
of people directly impacted by the
[11:15]
ravages of this country's War
[11:18]
campaign advocating for peace Justice
[11:21]
and
[11:22]
diplomacy innocence all over the world
[11:25]
must be protected but really for the
[11:27]
children if you cannot see the humanity
[11:30]
and a child and do the bare minimum I
[11:32]
genuinely question your ability to be an
[11:35]
elected official and I question the
[11:37]
humanity at all ceasefire is the minimum
[11:41]
it should be an arms embargo and end the
[11:44]
occupation
[11:46]
please thank you thank
[11:50]
you Jamaica miles
[12:05]
I stand here today as I have many days
[12:08]
um to talk about a number of things and
[12:10]
to make some corrections the people's
[12:13]
resolution does not dissolve this body
[12:15]
of its duties and responsibilities to
[12:16]
address the call for resolution it is a
[12:19]
transparent call and response about the
[12:21]
language City residents employees and
[12:24]
visitors approve of which
[12:27]
includes whereas the uned United States
[12:29]
has supplied the state of Israel with
[12:31]
more than 122 billion doar in military
[12:33]
aid since October 8th 2023 with those
[12:36]
while those funds could have been used
[12:38]
to support local communities including
[12:40]
the more than
[12:42]
28,000 households in the city of SKC who
[12:46]
do not earn enough to afford the basic
[12:48]
necessities where they
[12:50]
live y'all are having conversations
[12:52]
about the budget process already y'all
[12:54]
are having conversations about what you
[12:56]
need to buy here in the city and funds
[12:58]
that are needed
[13:01]
including the need for signage at our
[13:03]
pool a pool that I've attended with my
[13:06]
children on multiple occasions so I
[13:08]
don't know if anybody else has actually
[13:09]
attended gone inside and swam in the
[13:11]
pool I have and with my children the
[13:14]
placement of the pool rules the signage
[13:16]
that is there that list which you can
[13:17]
and can't do and when there's Adult Swim
[13:20]
which hopefully will also be for seniors
[13:22]
as well um there needs to be more
[13:24]
signage that's going to cost money I
[13:26]
wonder where that's going to come from
[13:28]
the pool Fe fees and rules and security
[13:30]
that was discussed it referenced
[13:32]
localities such as nkuna gildin and
[13:35]
Colony as M municipalities around
[13:38]
us what about Amsterdam Troy and Albany
[13:43]
and their rules either current or in the
[13:45]
past that more reflective of the city
[13:48]
that we have here than the ones that
[13:49]
were already
[13:51]
discussed we also talked you also talked
[13:54]
about speeding for years community
[13:56]
members have asked for Action regarding
[13:57]
the speeding in the city and various
[13:59]
communities and on very specific streets
[14:02]
including Becker we've asked for both
[14:05]
temporary and permanent options so
[14:07]
options have been given and it includes
[14:10]
and none have been received up until
[14:11]
this point up until this day Becker has
[14:14]
not seen speed feedback signs speed
[14:17]
activated speed limit reminder signs
[14:19]
additional stop signs or speed bumps all
[14:22]
of which are things that have been
[14:25]
implemented in other localities but not
[14:27]
in a lowincome high majority
[14:29]
area such as the Becker Street there
[14:32]
also happens to be the safe streets and
[14:34]
roads for all grant program at the
[14:36]
federal level since we're all worried
[14:37]
about money and thinking about money and
[14:39]
don't want to talk about that the
[14:41]
federal government should invest more of
[14:42]
its money in investing in our
[14:44]
communities and not in bombs that are
[14:45]
killing babies in Palestine over $3
[14:48]
billion doar is still available for
[14:50]
future funding rounds that's enough but
[14:52]
not enough we need to invest more and
[14:54]
the federal government could if it
[14:56]
wasn't supporting Israel's genocide that
[14:59]
is internationally recognized too many
[15:01]
communities face harmful racial
[15:03]
disparities in traffic enforcement and
[15:05]
preventable roadway deaths our goal is
[15:07]
to make sure everyone can make it to
[15:08]
their destination free of harm
[15:10]
discrimination and violence Safe Streets
[15:12]
and roads for all Grant is an option and
[15:15]
it lists a variety of ways that we can
[15:17]
make sure that we have a safe system
[15:19]
approach that includes safer people
[15:21]
safer Vehicles safer speed safer roads
[15:24]
and post crash care so if it's something
[15:26]
that this council is not aware of I do
[15:28]
hope that you into it as well as
[15:30]
consider that while the people's
[15:32]
resolution has not been passed by this
[15:34]
Council yet it is not too late thank you
[15:37]
thank
[15:41]
you sah
[15:52]
shaima so I'm standing here today on
[15:54]
behalf of the Muslim Community more
[15:57]
specifically in the city of skex
[16:00]
after a council member used our own IM
[16:04]
and the word
[16:06]
terrorism in the same sentence and we
[16:10]
know that's
[16:12]
intimidation that's how we feel as
[16:15]
members of the community knowing the
[16:17]
history of bringing any
[16:30]
it's funny how we talk about inclusion
[16:33]
but while we are supposed to feel
[16:37]
protected we feel
[16:39]
intimidated as we stand here to ask for
[16:43]
a simple thing and that is to preserve
[16:46]
lives for us to see police
[16:49]
officers
[16:51]
here with the claim that somebody's not
[16:53]
feeling safe and then using our own
[16:57]
IM and accusing
[17:00]
him whether it's called verbal or
[17:03]
emotional we
[17:06]
know when Muslims are mentioned and
[17:08]
terrorism is mentioned we know that it
[17:09]
has a history in this country and that
[17:13]
was used
[17:18]
knowingly and I want to mention
[17:20]
something we will never be intimidated
[17:22]
disappointed
[17:24]
yes but I don't think surprised
[17:29]
this week great things
[17:31]
happened the people in the UK spoke the
[17:34]
people in France spoke I didn't know the
[17:37]
people in this city in this County in
[17:39]
this state and this country will
[17:43]
speak some of you might have known me as
[17:45]
a school principal this is my last year
[17:48]
as a school principal because this what
[17:51]
I'm doing today is going to be my
[17:52]
full-time job so I'm not going away I'm
[17:56]
even more motivated I'm even more deted
[17:58]
determined to fight for the people in
[18:00]
this city and to fight for the people
[18:03]
around the
[18:05]
world two days ago somebody gave me a
[18:07]
gift what you're seeing here this is not
[18:09]
the one that I usually
[18:11]
wear somebody who actually went to the
[18:13]
holiest place on Earth for us Muslims
[18:16]
felt the need to buy me this because
[18:19]
they know what they stand for Friday the
[18:21]
holiest day somebody gave me this which
[18:24]
says free
[18:25]
Palestine and I know because I stood for
[18:29]
a free
[18:31]
Palestine yesterday we attended an event
[18:33]
myself and my kids that was the safest
[18:36]
space with the safest people organized
[18:40]
by none other than the Jewish voice for
[18:42]
peace call him anti-semetic go ahead
[18:45]
call him self-hating Jews go ahead but
[18:48]
that event was for
[18:50]
Palestine I felt
[18:53]
safe within that group Jews Christians
[18:57]
atheists agnostics
[18:59]
my kids my three and 5 year olds they
[19:01]
were walking around in that parade with
[19:03]
other kids of all colors all religious
[19:06]
backgrounds calling for free
[19:09]
Palestine free
[19:12]
Palestine thank
[19:14]
you s
[19:25]
KH good evening good evening my name is
[19:29]
s wakon and before I continue honoring
[19:31]
those murdered by the Israeli military
[19:33]
and government I wanted to ask you all a
[19:35]
question do you know what it is like to
[19:38]
try and speak when you can't be heard or
[19:41]
understood for your words to bring you
[19:43]
nothing but pain but are still
[19:46]
incoherent to those around you because
[19:49]
this week I couldn't answer that
[19:51]
question until I saw a video of a
[19:53]
12-year-old Palestinian girl from the
[19:56]
elnet refugee camp with her job blown
[19:59]
off her jaw was in her
[20:02]
hand in her
[20:06]
hand as she was trying to speak to an
[20:09]
overwhelmed and understaffed medical
[20:11]
crew and Personnel many of whom have
[20:13]
been hostages tortured by the Israeli
[20:16]
military and she could not speak I can
[20:20]
speak and it is only right for those of
[20:22]
us who do not have our Jaws in our hands
[20:25]
for those of us who have the freedom of
[20:28]
spech speech to speak up for those who
[20:31]
are being silenced unfortunately Faith
[20:34]
leaders and elected officials those who
[20:37]
are meant to empower the community were
[20:39]
published in the editorial section of
[20:40]
the Daily Gazette last week calling for
[20:43]
this body to forbid people like me from
[20:45]
speaking to forbid our community to
[20:48]
continue to at the very least bear
[20:50]
witness to the destruction being brought
[20:53]
down upon the Palestinian people that we
[20:55]
are complicit in as American taxpayers I
[20:58]
I'm horrified to know that the Israeli
[21:00]
government can silence young Arab girls
[21:02]
with their genocide which apparently has
[21:05]
the support of our community so-called
[21:08]
leaders who want to silence Young
[21:10]
American women in skty let me remind you
[21:13]
what these so-called leaders do not want
[21:15]

[22:54]
Collins good evening I know you guys are
[22:56]
meeting next Monday night regarding spe
[22:58]
and other safety issues in the city I
[23:01]
just want to bring some things to your
[23:02]
attention so you have a consideration
[23:04]
for next week I want my neighbors to
[23:06]
know why we are requesting stop signs on
[23:08]
King's
[23:11]
Road our house was built in 2006 by the
[23:13]
company I still work for my wife and I
[23:15]
bought it in 2019 we love our
[23:19]
home 10 we had 10 AR VES on on Kings
[23:23]
roadside that was taken out by a
[23:24]
speeding car our sprinkler system taken
[23:27]
out by a Sweden car replaced our fence
[23:30]
on King's road side four
[23:33]
times our storage shed was pushed off
[23:36]
the foundation due to a speeding
[23:38]
car our siden our down spout and other
[23:41]
items had to be replaced due to a
[23:43]
speeding
[23:45]
car our patio door had to be replaced
[23:48]
due to Flying debris from a car hitting
[23:50]
our
[23:52]
fence a speeding car hit in our
[23:55]
landscape stones where I had to call and
[23:57]
pay for a back hole to come and put them
[23:59]
back in
[24:03]
place we had our mailbox taken out two
[24:06]
times on Queen Phil Amina by cars
[24:07]
speeding making the turn too fast not
[24:09]
slowing
[24:11]
down a truck sitting in my driveway
[24:13]
total by a car turning on Queen Phil
[24:16]
Lina coming up from Kings Road not
[24:17]
slowing
[24:18]
down the best one our gas meter hit by
[24:22]
flying debris last year by a car
[24:25]
speeding doing over 80 M hour on King's
[24:27]
Road now National Grid had to come for
[24:29]
two days to inspect the gas
[24:31]
meter per Verizon telephone poll taken
[24:35]
down three times on my lawn had to be
[24:40]
replaced our home our property my family
[24:42]
were all in danger on this
[24:45]
road The Daily Gazette on
[24:49]
42923 President Porterfield Dr quoted as
[24:51]
saying give them stop signs give them
[24:52]
what they want the Times Union on
[24:57]
9201 and 23 willing kucho and masterani
[25:02]
in the committee meeting told you folks
[25:04]
Kings Road was a straight road straight
[25:06]
in Flat Road you went off their
[25:08]
information nothing was done the
[25:11]
accident of March of this year should
[25:14]
never happened the city had over a year
[25:16]
to correct the issue on King's
[25:18]
Road also the accident of March of 2023
[25:21]
took me 9 months to get a police report
[25:25]
which I had to foil which is still not
[25:27]
correct so I'm out of of money there
[25:34]
still on March 25th 2024 WTN Channel 10
[25:39]
city leaders stated that speeding is
[25:41]
everywhere in the city but city engineer
[25:43]
Chris will stated Kings Road is the
[25:46]
worst but still nothing's been done on
[25:47]
this
[25:49]
road the city put stop signs on Council
[25:52]
Road and in stock on unit Street and a
[25:54]
stockade to slow traffic down and all
[25:57]
other safety measures
[26:00]
that's three minutes
[26:02]
already let me let me summarize on
[26:04]
something else real
[26:06]
quick I I request the
[26:09]
foil of the uh the sensor report from
[26:12]
June 16th to June 24 of this month of
[26:15]
this year on 616 346 cars doing anywhere
[26:21]
between 35 and
[26:23]
60 on 617 459 cars 5 to 65 I need you to
[26:30]
summarize sir one minute please it get it gets better on 618 479 four
[26:37]
cars over 70 M an hour this is
[26:40]
ridiculous please do something about
[26:42]
this road thank you thank
[26:46]
you Frank wix
[27:05]
see we started back in March calling for
[27:08]
a
[27:09]
ceasefire there in uh Gaza since then
[27:13]
about 30,000 people Palestinians have
[27:16]
been killed the estimate maybe go up to
[27:19]
180,000 they've destroyed culture
[27:22]
they've destroyed university schools
[27:24]
it's uh Israel is not protect themselves
[27:28]
this is sadistic uh but it's too too
[27:31]
late to talk about a ceasefire uh what
[27:34]
do we ought the thing right now is
[27:36]
cutting off all funds uh to Israel now
[27:39]
the uh I I I remember
[27:42]
1948 I may be the only one remembering
[27:45]
1948 but uh in May of 1948 har Truman
[27:50]
recognized Israel he came from behind to
[27:53]
get
[27:54]
elected uh his secretary of state George
[27:57]
Mar maral warned against
[28:00]
it and for good reasons we now know uh
[28:04]
he he was called
[28:07]
anti-semitic uh Albert Einstein a Jew uh
[28:12]
thought the Arabs and
[28:13]
uh Palestinians Jews ought Liv together
[28:17]
he he he was called a self-hating Jew
[28:20]
they're still using those terms comments
[28:23]
in The Gazette the other day over why we
[28:25]
should not use this forum it talks about
[28:29]
anti-Semitism and uh suggesting self you
[28:32]
know self-hating Jews when they first
[28:34]
came here uh I came with I came with a
[28:37]
Jewish friend of mine who shares my
[28:40]
feelings so I my my impression is most
[28:43]
Jews are totally upset over what's
[28:47]
happening and most young people are it's
[28:50]
people of my own age who have been
[28:52]
brainwashed and uh indoctrinated to
[28:55]
thinking Israel was a good thing until
[28:56]
we learned otherwise
[28:58]
uh they got their Adam Bomb by stealing
[29:02]
uh uranium from Apollo Pennsylvania in
[29:05]
1966 uh it's it's beyond uh denial uh
[29:11]
they uh 67 they basically attacked
[29:15]
killed Sailors on on one of the ships uh
[29:18]
the uh the the 911 attack on the United
[29:23]
States was done by enemies that made by
[29:26]
the United States by supporting Israel then baited us into a a war in
[29:31]
Afghanistan and
[29:33]
Iraq and right now they're trying to
[29:36]
beate us into a war in Lebanon and
[29:39]
Iran so uh he'll give Joe Biden credit
[29:43]
for you know resisting this but at some
[29:46]
point you know so so right now the best
[29:49]
thing we can do is cut off all funding
[29:52]
to Israel it's going to be hard but it
[29:54]
has to start with partitioning our local Congressman Paul tono and uh
[30:01]
Senator Schumer and Jilla brand uh it's
[30:05]
going to be a tough sell but it's best
[30:07]
we can do and conect to Y to think about
[30:10]
a resolution to uh basically defund
[30:15]
Israel thank
[30:19]
you I have no one else signed up to
[30:21]
speak so I declare the public comment of
[30:23]
City business
[30:25]
closed at this time any miscellane
[30:28]
business of the
[30:29]
council Miss
[30:33]
Patrick thank you madam
[30:36]
president just find My Notes
[30:41]
here I'd like to thank uh all the folks
[30:45]
that came out last week for the reading
[30:46]
of the Declaration of Independence we
[30:48]
hope that this will become an annual
[30:50]
tradition in the city uh and it was so
[30:52]
well attended it went well beyond our
[30:55]
expectations um so I I thinkk my
[30:58]
colleagues here uh that also
[31:00]
participated in that in that reading I
[31:03]
wanted to um remind people that if you
[31:05]
go to SKC County uh n.
[31:09]
n.gov um the county has its uh listing
[31:12]
of all the cooling stations throughout
[31:14]
the city um which include all of our
[31:16]
public libraries um but there's many
[31:18]
other uh cooling stations as well and uh
[31:21]
just as a because it's going to get even
[31:23]
hotter uh as the week goes on so I hope
[31:26]
that everybody will stay safe with that we are trying to work on the uh
[31:30]
speeding issue um I would uh as our as
[31:34]
our guest uh Minister this evening said
[31:37]
I would just really ask people to please
[31:39]
watch what you're doing especially now
[31:41]
that school is out um and we want to try
[31:44]
to keep our children safe on the streets
[31:46]
so um we're doing what we can we are
[31:49]
going to continue to work on trying to
[31:50]
get the speed limit lowered uh in the
[31:53]
city on certain streets um and uh we're
[31:56]
working on that diligently
[31:58]
um I wanted to announce that U music
[32:01]
Haven had its first concert last night
[32:04]
it was standing room only I mean it was
[32:06]
just it was crazy in terms of how many
[32:08]
people had show showed up at the concert
[32:10]
the next concert um is uh well they're
[32:14]
every Sunday night so this upcoming
[32:16]
Sunday night it's a a zido uh group
[32:19]
buckwheat zido they're fantastic so I
[32:22]
hope that folks will come and enjoy uh
[32:24]
those free concerts in music Haven for
[32:27]
the rest of the summer Su on Sunday
[32:28]
evenings as part of that I am excited to
[32:31]
announce um that there's a baseball
[32:35]
tournament next weekend um it's going to
[32:38]
well on Saturday night at uh July 13th
[32:41]
at 6:30 p.m. there is a free concert at
[32:44]
music Haven featuring The Joe Roy
[32:46]
Jackson band and DJ Rumba um that's at
[32:50]
sort of towards the end of the baseball
[32:52]
tournament there's going to be food
[32:53]
trucks in the Park from 2:00 p.m. to
[32:55]
9:00 p.m. located near the music Haven
[32:57]
stage the event is being held in
[32:59]
conjunction with the firecracker sports
[33:02]
baseball tournament that will be taking
[33:04]
place July 12th through the 15th on all
[33:06]
three fields in Central Park as well as
[33:09]
the connected Bay Ruth field teams are
[33:11]
going to be coming in from uh
[33:13]
Massachusetts Vermont Connecticut New
[33:15]
Hampshire New Jersey as well as teams
[33:17]
from all over New York State um over the
[33:20]
four days 60 games will be played on the
[33:22]
fields games start every day at 9:00
[33:24]
a.m. with the last one starting at 5:30
[33:26]
so if you're a baseball fan uh you can
[33:29]
get out and uh see these see these games
[33:32]
it's just another thing that's happening
[33:34]
along with the the new pool that Ms
[33:36]
miles um I went up the other day to
[33:39]
check out and talk to some of the folks
[33:41]
that were up there and everybody's just
[33:43]
having a great time so um I hope that
[33:46]
folks will continue to you know enjoy
[33:48]
that pool especially this week when it's
[33:50]
going to be so hot um
[33:54]
and that uh that's all my notes thank
[33:57]
