All right. Uh, good afternoon. Today is
[0:17]
Friday, November 7th. It's a meeting of
[0:19]
the accrishnet board of selectmen. Is
[0:21]
there a motion to call the meeting to
[0:22]
order?
[0:23]
» So moved.
[0:23]
» Second. All those in favor? Motion
[0:25]
carries. Please rise for the pledge of
[0:27]
allegiance.
[0:29]
I aliance to the flag of the United
[0:32]
States of America to the republic for
[0:34]
which it stands. One nation under God,
[0:37]
indivisible, with liberty and justice
[0:39]
for all.
[0:40]
» All right, gentlemen. Uh today's uh
[0:43]
subject matters are really town
[0:46]
operations and dealing with vacancies.
[0:48]
Uh to start that off, we've got two
[0:51]
letters of resignation. Uh really
[0:53]
excited for these two employees. Uh
[0:56]
Brady Baldwin, who's been our custodian.
[0:59]
um and Sydney Beveres uh who's been our
[1:01]
executive administrative assistant both
[1:03]
have really great career opportunities
[1:06]
to further themselves and would never
[1:09]
want to get in the way of that. So with
[1:11]
the with that said is a motion to accept
[1:13]
uh Mr. Baldwin and Ms. Mveris's uh
[1:16]
letter of resignation with regret.
[1:18]
» So moved.
[1:19]
» Second.
[1:20]
» All those in favor?
[1:21]
» Motion carries. As you know it's listed
[1:22]
here. We've got a number of vacant
[1:24]
positions, but we'll go into executive
[1:26]
session to discuss all of that and how
[1:28]
we want to move forward with these. Um,
[1:30]
but I think um, you know, we're making a
[1:33]
concerted effort to fill in some of the
[1:35]
gaps. Just this morning, had a chance to
[1:37]
see Julia Gonzalz, who's the
[1:39]
conservation agent. She was out in the
[1:41]
field already today with chamber of the
[1:43]
concom
[1:45]
uh, Chance from New Bedford is helping
[1:47]
out uh, as well. So excited about that
[1:50]
and seeing some energy over there and um
[1:53]
so we'll we'll we'll get through all of
[1:55]
this stuff. Uh so with that said, we've
[1:57]
got two executive sessions and we will
[1:59]
not be returning. But before that, I
[2:02]
just want to announce we have some
[2:03]
future business coming up. We got a
[2:05]
pretty big lot going on. We have Monday,
[2:08]
November 10th at 400 p.m. at the Council
[2:10]
on Aging. Um another joint meeting of
[2:13]
the board of selectmen in the finance
[2:15]
committee with Old Colony. And for those
[2:17]
of you who don't know, if you don't know
[2:20]
by now, on November 18th, there's an
[2:22]
important vote to consider uh con
[2:25]
reconstru
[2:27]
colony. With that said, this is another
[2:29]
opportunity to learn more about the
[2:31]
facts and and why decisions were made
[2:33]
and why that's going before the voters.
[2:35]
Uh but there's also great deal of
[2:37]
information out there um at the old
[2:40]
colony web page that is but if you want
[2:42]
to be there in person to ask questions
[2:44]
that is Monday November 10th at the
[2:46]
Council on Aging 4 p.m. Then on November
[2:48]
13th we have a tax classification
[2:50]
hearing at noon and by all accounts uh
[2:53]
once we get through that we will we
[2:55]
should be ahead of schedule. Um so
[2:58]
that's exciting as well. So, we'll
[2:59]
continue to keep pressing and moving uh
[3:03]
uh to keep town government running.
[3:05]
» Selections, announcements, what we do.
[3:07]
» You have any announcements? Yes, sir.
[3:08]
» Yeah. So, tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. if it's
[3:12]
not raining, the Veterans Day parade
[3:14]
will be taking off from town hall down
[3:16]
to P Park to the Veterans Memorial um
[3:19]
park. If it is raining, we will be at
[3:22]
the VFW in the town of Aushin.
[3:25]
» Okay. All right. Nothing.
[3:27]
» Sounds good. So with that said, uh,
[3:30]
executive session number one under Mass
[3:31]
General Law, chapter 3A, section 21A,
[3:35]
subsection two, to conduct strategy
[3:37]
sessions in preparation for negotiations
[3:39]
with non-UN personnel with to conduct
[3:42]
collective bargaining sessions or
[3:44]
contract negotiations with non-UN
[3:46]
personnel, staffing and vacancies. And
[3:48]
the chair so declares and the board will
[3:51]
not return to public session at the
[3:53]
conclusion of the executive session. Is
[3:55]
there a motion?
[3:56]
» So moved.
[3:56]
» Second. Uh, roll call vote. Mr. Gasper,
[3:59]
» Yes.
[3:59]
» Mr. England, yes. Yes. All right.
[4:03]
Executive session two under Mass General
[4:05]
Law, Chapter 3A, Subsection 21 A3 to
[4:09]
discuss strategy with respect to
[4:11]
collective bargaining, staffing, and
[4:12]
vacancies. If an open meeting may have a
[4:15]
detrimental effect on the bargaining
[4:16]
position of the public body, and the
[4:19]
chair so declares, and the board will
[4:20]
not return to public session at the
[4:22]
conclusion of the executive session. Is
[4:25]
there a motion to go into executive
[4:27]
session two?
[4:27]
» So moved.
[4:28]
» Second.
[4:29]
» Roll call vote. Mr. Gasper.
[4:31]
» Yes.
[4:31]
» Mr. Hankley.
[4:32]
» Yes.
[4:32]
» And I am a yes. We are now in executive
[4:34]
session two.
