>> No, no, not a problem. Okay, ready to
[10:48]
go, Christine, then?
>> Yes. Thank you.
[10:50]
» Okay.
Good morning everyone again. We are back
[10:53]
in an open meeting.
[10:58]
A closed meeting was held this morning
pursuant to section 2392 of the
[11:02]
municipal act as amended at which
recommendations were made to receive and
[11:06]
adopt the recommendations from the
township solicitor regarding a
[11:10]
litigation affecting the municipality.
Could we have a motion to adopt the
[11:16]
recommendations from the closed meeting?
I so move
[11:21]
» by councelor Yanch.
>> Second it.
[11:23]
» Second by councelor Thompson.
Call the vote. Councelor Yanch.
[11:28]
» Yes.
>> Councelor Hook.
[11:30]
» Yes.
>> And councelor Thompson.
[11:33]
» Yes.
>> And that motion is carried.
[11:37]
Move on to matters for consideration
uh which is 6.1 declaration of vacant
[11:44]
head of council seat. Can you speak to
that Christine? Sure. Thank you, Deputy
[11:50]
Reev.
Um, I did prepare a staff report uh that
[11:54]
was circulated with the agenda. Um, so
I'll just briefly review that. Uh, with
[12:00]
the passing of Reev Hog on October 15th,
council must declare the head of council
[12:04]
seat vacant. The process for declaring
and filling vacancies on council is
[12:09]
prescribed under sections 259 through
268 of the municipal act as amended. Per
[12:16]
the act, if the office of a member of
council becomes vacant under section
[12:21]
259, the council shall at its next
meeting declare the office to be vacant
[12:26]
except if a vacancy occurs as a result
of the death of a member. The
[12:31]
declaration may be made at either of its
two either of its next two meetings.
[12:37]
[clears throat] Just a little aside,
normally that would have been done on
[12:41]
November the 18th at our next regular
meeting. However, because we needed to
[12:45]
call this special meeting today, um that
means we have to declare his his seat
[12:50]
vacant today.
All all operational matters related to
[12:55]
his passing, including the options to
fill the vacancy for the remainder of
[12:59]
the 2022 2026 term will be addressed at
the next regular meeting on October the
[13:06]
8 or October November the 18th. My
recommendation is that council receives
[13:11]
for information the declaration of
vacant head of council seat report and
[13:15]
further that pursuant to section 262 of
the municipal act 2001 as amended
[13:21]
declare the seat for head of council
vacant effective November the 10th 2025.
[13:29]
» Thank you Chris Christine
[clears throat] for the report. Does
[13:32]
anyone have questions of Christine?
[13:36]
None noted. Uh there's a draft uh motion
in front of us. Does we have a mover?
[13:47]
» Councelor Thompson. Second by councelor
Hook.
[13:51]
Any any other questions?
Call the vote. Uh councelor Yanch.
[13:56]
» Yes.
>> Councelor Thompson.
[13:58]
» Yes.
>> Councelor Hook.
[14:00]
» Yes.
>> And that motion is carried.
[14:05]
» Any other new business?
[14:10]
None noted. Confirming bylaw. Have three
readings for the confirming bylaw.
[14:15]
» I'll do that.
>> Council ranch. Councelor Hook. Second.
[14:21]
Call the vote. Councelor Yanch.
>> Yes.
[14:24]
» Councelor Thompson.
>> Yes.
[14:26]
» Councelor Hook.
>> Yes.
[14:29]
» That motion is carried. We have a motion
to adjurnn. Councelor Thompson.
[14:35]
» I'll do that. [laughter]
Y [clears throat]
[14:39]
[gasps]
[14:41]
the vote. Councelor Yanch,
>> yes.
[14:44]
» Councelor Thompson,
>> yes.
[14:47]
» Councelor Hook,
>> yes.
[14:49]
» That motion is carried. And before we
say the meeting is adjourned, Christine,
[14:53]
thank you very much for
uh working through all these technical
[14:58]
issues to set up a couple meetings uh on
on on very short notice. So, thank you.
[15:04]
Much appreciated. Yeah,
>> you're welcome. You all did. You all did
[15:08]
very well.

[15:10]
