Resolution recognizing and honoring the
members of the South Carolina State

Guard, September
2026 as National Preparedness Month.

Whereas September is observed as
National Preparedness Month, promoting

emergency preparedness and community
resilience. And whereas South Carolina

communities face natural and man-made
hazards including a hurricane, flooding,

severe storms, ice storms, earthquakes,
wildfires, and other emergencies. And

whereas effective emergency preparedness
and response require strong partnerships
[0:47]
among local governments, emergency
management agencies, first responders,
[0:51]
state agencies, nonprofit organizations,
and community partners. And whereas the

South Carolina State Guard, a component
of the South Carolina Military
[1:00]
Department, is a volunteer state
military force that supports South
[1:04]
Carolinians during emergencies and
disasters. And whereas the South
[1:08]
Carolina State Guard provides disaster
relief, search and rescue, medical
[1:12]
support, logistics, engineering,
communication, and other specialized
[1:16]
services in coordination with state and
local authorities. And whereas Anderson
[1:22]
County Council recognizes the importance
of emergency preparedness
[1:26]
and the dedicated volunteer service of
the South Carolina State Guard in
[1:30]
protecting South Carolina communities.
Now therefore, be it resolved that

Anderson County Council, in a meeting
duly assembled
[1:37]
this first day of September 2026,
recognizes September 2026 as National
[1:43]
Preparedness Month in Anderson County.
And recognizes and honors the South
[1:47]
Carolina State Guard for its dedicated
volunteer service and commitment to
[1:52]
emergency preparedness, response, and
recovery.
