[0:15]
Welcome to
[0:18]
Okay. Um 1.2. Do we have any public
[0:21]
comment regarding closed session items?
[0:26]
Okay, we'll go ahead and Are we doing
[0:29]
the recognition first? Okay, 1.3 we will
[0:32]
do recognition of August students of the
[0:34]
month. We have Colton Stanley from North
[0:38]
Valley High School.
[0:45]
» Okay.
[0:50]
» And then we have Taylor Anderson of
[0:52]
Anderson High School.
[0:55]
» Hello. Welcome to 267. How exciting. So,
[0:58]
I'm Elanor High School, principal
[1:00]
Anderson New Tech, and super excited to
[1:02]
introduce Mr. Taylor Anderson to you,
[1:04]
but I came up without my glasses. So
[1:06]
even though I made my font really big
[1:08]
[laughter]
[1:14]
for
[1:16]
so I have um come on
[1:21]
and uh from different staff members um
[1:26]
you you've been selected. You're you're
[1:28]
quiet but um super diligent in the way
[1:31]
that you treat other people. You're very
[1:33]
kind. Your follow through Taylor is
[1:35]
amazing. So we asked Taylor to do
[1:38]
something. He never forgets whether it's
[1:40]
summer, it's after school, anytime is
[1:42]
dependable, which just gives me extra
[1:45]
hope for the entire future. Um because
[1:48]
there's so many people that like forget,
[1:50]
you know, you get busy, but you get
[1:53]
busy, but you still remember. So we very
[1:55]
much appreciate that about you and it
[1:56]
was a common thing. Um, but I will start
[1:59]
out too by saying that uh Taylor's going
[2:02]
to graduate fully opportunity bound.
[2:04]
He's got all his doors open. He's going
[2:06]
to be A to G, have a full CTE pathway,
[2:09]
several certifications in auto. Um,
[2:12]
eligible for really anything he wants
[2:14]
to. He'll have college classes
[2:15]
completed, community service,
[2:17]
internship, and um just an amazing human
[2:20]
being. Thank you for
[2:23]
sharing him with us. Um, Miss Morphw
[2:27]
says, "This member of leadership at New
[2:28]
Techch, Taylor Anderson, consistently
[2:31]
goes above and beyond. Puts extra effort
[2:33]
into everything he does. Positive
[2:35]
attitude and encouragement helps others
[2:37]
to see the bright side of every
[2:39]
situation. He's always respectful,
[2:41]
supportive, and willing to lend a
[2:43]
helping hand. He's a wonderful example
[2:45]
of the kind of leader who brings out the
[2:47]
best in others. Just such a great
[2:50]
attribute. We love having Taylor as part
[2:52]
of our team. Mr. Peterson was a
[2:54]
leadership teacher last year. Taylor is
[2:57]
a wonderful gentleman. I have had him
[2:59]
for the last few years in studies
[3:00]
classes and in leadership. Taylor is a
[3:03]
leader who leads through service. Taylor
[3:05]
can always be counted on to take up a
[3:07]
task no matter how unglamorous and do
[3:10]
the best job as possible. Sets a
[3:12]
wonderful example to those around him.
[3:14]
The community of Anderson Tech has a
[3:16]
great one in Taylor and we are very
[3:17]
fortunate and proud. Um, Miss Savage
[3:20]
added very similarly. Um, but special
[3:24]
kudos because we ended up we purchased
[3:27]
some new furniture. It all came
[3:29]
unassembled.
[3:31]
» And [laughter] Mr. Taylor Anderson, he
[3:34]
he finishes things. He does not forget
[3:36]
to put all of the parts together. And
[3:38]
our furniture is sturdy, stable, and
[3:40]
assembled and and all in his summertime.
[3:43]
Came in many days helped Miss Sarah
[3:46]
waxing, moving furniture. Um, our newest
[3:49]
teacher, Mr. Bird, is like, he didn't
[3:51]
even know who I was. And he's walking in
[3:53]
and and like, "Where do you like where
[3:54]
would you like these tables?" And after
[3:56]
he introduces himself, which is such a
[3:58]
nice thing, and he was just like, "This
[4:00]
kid is amazing." Um, so he's commented
[4:03]
on the back as well. But, uh, we just
[4:06]
stay afloat with students like Taylor
[4:08]
and are super grateful. So,
[4:09]
congratulations.
[4:10]
» Thank you so much. [applause]
[4:18]
We were like here's your certificate
[4:20]
[clears throat]
[4:21]
and this is for you. So they got
[4:24]
suggestions and it was really hard to
[4:26]
pick. Usually I have guidelines and this
[4:30]
I kept going about what about this and
[4:35]
you were really hard. So I hope you like
[4:37]
it.
[4:38]
» So it was really good.
[4:41]
[laughter]
[4:47]
Thanks, Taylor.
[4:56]
» All right, people. We will move into
[4:58]
close session.
[5:02]
» Oh,
[5:09]
recognize here.
[5:17]
Thank you so much.
[5:25]
» Colton's super sweet kid. Really love
[5:27]
him. His teacher said, "We are proud to
[5:29]
recognize Colton as our student of the
[5:31]
month. Colton consistently demonstrates
[5:33]
perseverance by staying on task and the
[5:35]
courage to try new things. He advocates
[5:37]
for himself by asking for help when
[5:38]
needed, listens well, treats others with
[5:40]
courtesy, and is always willing to lend
[5:41]
a hand. Colton has shown tremendous
[5:43]
growth and continues to make excellent
[5:45]
progress towards earning his credits and
[5:46]
achieving his goals. His positive
[5:48]
attitude, growing confidence, and
[5:50]
maturity have been wonderful to see.
[5:51]
Colton is a great addition to our campus
[5:53]
community and is very deserving of this
[5:55]
recognition.
[5:57]
[applause]
[6:02]
So what we do is the principles give me
[6:05]
suggestions and so what Colton's
[6:08]
suggestion was was a I can say this
[6:11]
[laughter] it was new religion so I got
[6:13]
him a new religion um sweatshirt today
[6:16]
and so that's what he got. Um the other
[6:20]
gentleman he he was hard so he got anala
[6:23]
water bottle some jerky. I usually never
[6:27]
get gift cards at all blank ones, but he
[6:30]
got a Visa one for $25 and a Starbucks
[6:33]
one. And it's because Elanor said he was
[6:35]
really responsible, so that's why he got
[6:37]
the visa one. Um the other gifts have
[6:40]
been different things from tools from
[6:42]
bands to um going to the light show at
[6:48]
Sundial Bridge. So is different things
[6:50]
that the kids um typically don't do. So
[6:53]
that's the different things that come
[6:55]
with the students of health. So I know
[6:57]
the comments have been people want to
[6:59]
see what they get. So that was kind of a
[7:02]
snapshot.
[7:06]
» Thank you Stacey for all that you do. Um
[7:08]
we will move to the first session
[51:38]
like to call this meeting back in order.
[51:40]
We have our flag salute led by Mattie
[51:43]
Madlin.
[51:49]
I aliance to the flag of the United
[51:52]
States of America and to the republic
[51:55]
for it stands. One nation under God,
[51:58]
indivisible, with liberty and justice
[52:00]
for all.
[52:12]
» Okay, we have 3.2 two approves the
[52:13]
agenda for the regular meeting of the
[52:16]
Anderson Union High School District
[52:18]
Board of September 16th, 2026.
[52:26]
» Good evening and welcome to this meeting

[52:40]
board of education is held in public so
[52:43]

[53:05]
productive and orderly. The board does

[53:27]

[53:34]

[53:37]
Differences of opinion are welcome and
[53:40]
are important and important part of the
[53:42]

[53:45]
attacks, shouting, profanity, disruptive

behavior, or conduct that interferes
[53:51]
with the orderly conduct of the meeting
[53:53]
will not be permitted. As a school
[53:56]
community, we expect our students to
[53:58]
demonstrate civility, respect, and
[54:00]
professionalism in their interactions
[54:02]
with others. We ask all participants
[54:05]
this evening to model those same
[54:07]
expectations.
[54:09]
During public comment, speakers are
[54:12]

[54:14]

[54:28]
substantially disrupt the meeting may be
[54:31]
directed to comply with these
[54:33]

[54:36]
so that the board may continue
[54:38]
conducting [clears throat] the
[54:39]
district's business in accordance with
[54:41]
applicable law and board policy. Thank
[54:44]
you for your cooperation and for helping
[54:47]
us maintain an environment that reflects
[54:49]
the values we seek to instill in our
[54:52]
students and throughout our schools.
[55:00]
Okay. Um before we go to 3.2, I do also
[55:04]
want to introduce Miss Michaela Silken.
[55:08]
She's our new student uh board rep. And
[55:12]
um we are doing something new this year.
[55:14]
We will be giving our student board
[55:17]
representative a vote. Um so before any
[55:22]
other trustee makes a a motion or a vote
[55:25]
we will come to you Michaela and um get
[55:28]
your opinion.
[55:29]
» All right. Yep.
[55:32]
» All right. All right. So 3.2 approve the
[55:34]
agenda for the regular meeting of AUHSD
[55:37]
board of trustees for September 26 2026.
[55:41]
So
[55:41]
» Vote second.
[55:43]
All in
[55:44]
» Favor I
[55:50]
Okay. 3.3 we have report of board action
[55:52]
taken in close session. There was no
[55:55]
action to report. 3.4 student
[55:58]
representatives will report on athletics
[56:00]
activities and academics.
[56:07]
» West Valley. [laughter]
[56:12]
Okay. So, I have a little bit of a
[56:13]
different
[56:15]
number going on.
[56:18]
This is our monthly weekly update that
[56:21]
was prepared by science office
[56:31]
and then something new for this year.
[56:35]
Don't touch these just yet, but I have
[56:40]
my
[56:44]
» This is so exciting. [laughter]
[56:55]
Yeah, that's far.
[57:01]
» I understand.
[57:03]
[laughter]
[57:06]
» All right, you ready?
[57:08]
» We are.
[57:08]
» All right, good evening everybody. It's
[57:10]
good to see you guys all again and even
[57:11]
a new face. Uh, for those of you who do
[57:13]
not know, my name is Jacob Garcia and
[57:15]
I'm the ASB president this year at West
[57:17]
Valley. It's an honor and it's going to
[57:19]
be a great year. I'm a senior, so this
[57:22]
is kind of my sort of last harrah for
[57:24]
West Valley after being in leadership
[57:26]
for three years. I get to really help
[57:28]
shape what West Valley gets to look like
[57:30]
and what it gets to look like for the
[57:31]
years to come after I graduate. As many
[57:34]
of you, as many of you guys know, we
[57:35]
start this year with a lot of change and
[57:38]
that can be difficult, but it's also
[57:40]
brought new energy. So, I want to
[57:42]
recognize our leadership adviser, Mr.
[57:43]
James O'Brien, who can't be here, but he
[57:46]
has been a steady guide going into new
[57:48]
leadership and also our new principal,
[57:51]
Mrs. Simson. She supports us and
[57:53]
leadership in a way that makes us feel
[57:55]
trusted and supported and she's just
[57:57]
overall amazing. Therefore, tonight,
[58:00]
instead of giving you a long list of
[58:01]
dates or just a calendar, I want to
[58:03]
share with you a snapshot of our school
[58:05]
through my lens, which is a student
[58:07]
lens. So right now, West Valley is
[58:09]
alive. From what I can see, our crazy
[58:12]
crew has brought the dance to life.
[58:13]
Whether that is music, dancing, from
[58:16]
Sweet Caroline to the Penn State walkout
[58:18]
song to the YMCA, we are just doing it
[58:20]
all. We have our back to school rally
[58:23]
and it was electric. Our colorants
[58:25]
brought in 300 students back on
[58:27]
September 11th. Uh football is two in
[58:30]
one, volleyball's 12 and two, and
[58:32]
there's just athletic momentum for the
[58:34]
Eagles. But it's not just about these
[58:36]
big events that I get to tell you guys
[58:38]
about. I want to also tell you guys
[58:39]
about the small important events. Every
[58:42]
Friday at lunch, music is on. Games like
[58:44]
tug-of-war or musical chairs bring
[58:46]
people in and it feels like students are
[58:48]
genuinely connecting. And maybe that's
[58:50]
because of less phone time, but all that
[58:52]
matters is more time being present with
[58:54]
each other is happening. And that's the
[58:56]
less value I want to share with you guys
[58:58]
tonight. So, each of you have an
[59:00]
envelope in front of you with your name
[59:01]
on it. You can go ahead and open them
[59:03]
now and read it to yourselves while I
[59:05]
keep talking to you guys. Inside you'll
[59:08]
find a picture or pictures. Jackie, I
[59:10]
included a couple. I couldn't pick one.
[59:13]
That is from the past month and a
[59:14]
handwritten passion I gave to you guys.
[59:17]
Administration. I didn't have enough
[59:18]
envelopes, but there is four pictures
[59:20]
that I had extra for you guys. And I
[59:22]
divided West Valley's story over the
[59:24]
past month into six different
[59:26]
categories. Those are student life on
[59:28]
campus, academics, athletics, policy and
[59:32]
action, student life outside of school,
[59:35]
and even clubs. If you want, hold them
[59:37]
up to the audience, show them off
[59:39]
because I would too if I had [laughter]
[59:40]
them. And these are snapshots that
[59:43]
explain something more than words. These
[59:45]
pictures are yours to keep, and I'll
[59:47]
bring another each month, and I'll bring
[59:49]
more even the next month. So, by the end
[59:51]
of the year in May, I hope you have a
[59:53]
little collection of what looks like.
[59:56]
It's real students. It's real events.
[59:58]
It's real snapshot in all real time
[1:00:01]
because I want to bring with you
[1:00:02]
something other than dates. I want you
[1:00:04]
to see what West Valley is actually
[1:00:05]
about. And West Valley is truly
[1:00:07]
threatening. There's a lot ahead. We
[1:00:10]
have homecoming week on October 16th
[1:00:12]
where we take on the WA miners with a
[1:00:14]
rally, a parade, a dance, and spirit
[1:00:16]
packed within just five school days.
[1:00:18]
There's the fall festival FFA is hosting
[1:00:20]
pretty soon. And our life science
[1:00:22]
classes are experimenting with real
[1:00:24]
animal bones. I think you got that one.
[1:00:26]
The real animal bones that were donated
[1:00:28]
by the Shasta County, who got the animal
[1:00:30]
bones? They were donated by the Shasta
[1:00:32]
County corer's office just about last
[1:00:34]
week. And also that life science classes
[1:00:36]
are also experimenting with our new
[1:00:39]
interactive antimmage table, which is a
[1:00:41]
3D screen with the anatomy of the human
[1:00:44]
body at your fingertips. And if this
[1:00:46]
first month report is any sign to you,
[1:00:48]
let it be that I am excited for the rest
[1:00:50]
of the school year. And thank you. I'll
[1:00:52]
take any questions you have about the
[1:00:54]
pictures or West Valley because it was
[1:00:55]
hard to only pick one. So, if you have
[1:00:57]
any questions about what's happening at
[1:00:58]
Bowen, let me know.
[1:01:00]
» I don't think you should be able to go
[1:01:01]
first.
[1:01:03]
[laughter]
[1:01:04]
» I I've done it. I've done it I think
[1:01:06]
what seven times. So, I have to
[1:01:09]
» You set the
[1:01:11]
» We love you.
[1:01:12]
» Yeah. Thank you.
[1:01:13]
» You got my favorite one.
[1:01:14]
» That's the best.
[1:01:17]
so often as as as a board member I I
[1:01:20]
don't get to see that those things. So,
[1:01:22]
thank you.
[1:01:24]
» THANK YOU GUYS.
[1:01:27]
» [applause]
[1:01:36]
» WE'LL GO AHEAD AND have
[1:01:44]
some for you guys.
[1:01:51]
» All right. Um, good evening members of
[1:01:53]
the board. Mr. food staff and community.
[1:01:57]
My name is Hi Martell, vice president of
[1:02:00]
leadership and student representative
[1:02:01]
from New College of New Mexico. Thank
[1:02:04]
you for having me. I attended Evergreen
[1:02:07]
Elementary and Middle School and have
[1:02:09]
been at New Tech all four years.
[1:02:12]
Sophomore year, I participated in the
[1:02:14]
districtwide musical and have been doing
[1:02:16]
it every year since. Um, I am looking
[1:02:19]
forward to pursuing a career in theater
[1:02:22]
at Southern Oregon University. Um, I'm
[1:02:26]
active in choir, our performance club
[1:02:29]
and leadership and I'm in my capstone
[1:02:33]
class of as well. Uh, we had so so many
[1:02:37]
changes this school year at New Tech.
[1:02:40]
Our building has been updated on the
[1:02:43]
outside as you can see when you pass by
[1:02:45]
it. It's so cool. Our sign is finally
[1:02:49]
working on North Street. Um upstairs we
[1:02:52]
have a formal room rather than simply
[1:02:55]
just a big open space. What was our art
[1:02:59]
room is now a super crazy cool tech
[1:03:02]
space with neon colors in the computers
[1:03:06]
and we have machines throughout the
[1:03:08]
classroom like
[1:03:11]
super cool. um for our engineering and
[1:03:16]
manufacturing pathways and our fishbowl
[1:03:19]
room 129 has been renamed the birds with
[1:03:24]
Mr. for teaching video production and
[1:03:26]
the book and among other things
[1:03:30]
has taken on leadership and art this
[1:03:32]
year and we finally have choir back with
[1:03:35]
Miss Crebertson by popular demand by
[1:03:38]
seniors myself included
[1:03:41]
is overall just really super cool
[1:03:44]
amazing vibes on campus um of the 135
[1:03:50]
students at News 21 are full-time
[1:03:53]
independent study and the remaining 115
[1:03:56]
are hybrid students. We have one
[1:03:59]
independent study eighth grader uh 26
[1:04:03]
9th graders zero of which are
[1:04:05]
independent study uh 38 10th graders
[1:04:09]
three being on independent study 25 11th
[1:04:12]
graders five on independent study and 45
[1:04:16]
seniors 13 on independent study. Uh
[1:04:20]
leadership this year got started super
[1:04:23]
early with Anderson Expose on July 3rd.
[1:04:26]
We had a super cute fundraiser
[1:04:28]
and leadership students also welcomed
[1:04:31]
and met with the incoming freshman and
[1:04:34]
new students at our annual roundup on on
[1:04:37]
the team.
[1:04:39]
Started the year activities were enjoyed
[1:04:40]
by all who participated with Miss
[1:04:43]
Hernandez and crew at Whiskeytown Lake
[1:04:45]
Kaying. Our first tour led by Ranger
[1:04:48]
Lewis and also camping at Lassen
[1:04:51]
National Park.
[1:04:54]
The mural covering the outside of our
[1:04:57]
school is complete. Looks amazing. By
[1:05:00]
the way, a video is being made um by
[1:05:07]
Jesse Jensen, the amazing guy who
[1:05:10]
painted it. And it's going to have drone
[1:05:13]
shots in it. So cool.
[1:05:16]
and sort of come next month. Um, Miss
[1:05:20]
Morphw and our leadership students are
[1:05:22]
ready to bring fun to our campus this
[1:05:25]
school year. The first big event is our
[1:05:28]
glow-in-the-dark walk-in on Friday,
[1:05:31]
September 18th.
[1:05:33]
We have spent this week dressing up in
[1:05:34]
different themes of colors to lead up to
[1:05:36]
the glow-in-the-dark walk-in. Students
[1:05:38]
and staff have been participating and
[1:05:40]
having lunch.
[1:05:42]
On Monday, we had giving humane guests,
[1:05:46]
two of which were new tech alumni. We
[1:05:48]
had them come and talk about
[1:05:51]
opportunities for internships, community
[1:05:54]
service, and resources they provide. And
[1:05:57]
we kicked off a coin drive competition
[1:06:00]
between classes and staff.
[1:06:03]
And more money has been raised in three
[1:06:07]
days than typically is made in a week of
[1:06:11]
any other competitions which so cool.
[1:06:15]
And forestry club and competition
[1:06:19]
leadup trainings to prepare our team are
[1:06:21]
underway with Mr. Lewis and local
[1:06:25]
forester and tech alumni
[1:06:27]
Shane Stewart.
[1:06:30]
We will have the ASVAB assessment in
[1:06:33]
October.
[1:06:35]
30 seniors or juniors and some staff
[1:06:38]
will have the amazing opportunity to get
[1:06:41]
CPR certified on October 16th.
[1:06:47]
That is all I have for you.
[1:06:51]
» Thank you very much for your detailed
[1:06:53]
report. I do. I just want to let you
[1:06:54]
know um one thing that impacted me most
[1:06:56]
about your report is even at a
[1:06:58]
non-traditional site, you have access to
[1:07:00]
do so many extracurricular and
[1:07:02]
co-curricular things on top of your
[1:07:03]
academics. So, I just want to commend
[1:07:05]
you for that and for taking advantage of
[1:07:07]
those things.
[1:07:08]
» Thank you so much. [applause]
[1:07:25]
Good evening, board.
[1:07:27]
So, I'm going to partially wing it
[1:07:30]
tonight. Uh, we we had a few students
[1:07:34]
that could not make it and Miss Wonder
[1:07:36]
who has the report is home with a
[1:07:39]
migraine.
[1:07:40]
So, um, this is going to be relatively
[1:07:43]
brief, but as well, you'll get the
[1:07:46]
student report sent to you probably
[1:07:49]
tomorrow.
[1:07:51]
So,
[1:07:52]
they're kind of all over the place. Um,
[1:07:55]
I want to highlight Emma Richardson,
[1:07:57]
who's our drama theater teacher that
[1:08:00]
serves the district. Um, I've had an
[1:08:02]
opportunity of observing her, and I'd
[1:08:06]
encourage you as board members to
[1:08:08]
observe her. Uh she's fun to watch, very
[1:08:12]
interactive. She has um we had zero
[1:08:15]
students before this school year started
[1:08:17]
because it wasn't something that was in
[1:08:20]
our course offerings when counselors
[1:08:22]
went around and we have 17 students in
[1:08:25]
there now. Um possibly at semester we
[1:08:30]
can we can open up two sections here,
[1:08:32]
but right now one section. And yeah,
[1:08:35]
like I said, it's it's a lot of fun.
[1:08:37]
Really dynamic. guys. She's a blast. She
[1:08:40]
she plays the games and everything with
[1:08:42]
the students and just has has a lot of
[1:08:44]
fun and as well, you know, creating a a
[1:08:49]
safe environment where they they feel
[1:08:51]
like they can participate fully and uh
[1:08:54]
and stretches them. So, she's she's able
[1:08:56]
to do that because of how safe they
[1:08:58]
feel.
[1:09:00]
And we have an AP Spanish this year. So,
[1:09:04]
Mr. grant um is teaching AP Spanish and
[1:09:08]
we do have students that are coming in
[1:09:10]
that are very near AP Spanish level. So,
[1:09:14]
it's good now that we're able to offer
[1:09:16]
that. Um, we have a temporary campus
[1:09:20]
supervisor who is also our head
[1:09:22]
basketball coach and he uh has expressed
[1:09:26]
to me on a couple occasions on different
[1:09:29]
days that we have really nice kids and
[1:09:32]
so he's so impressed. Um, just he's able
[1:09:35]
to have conversations with them. Um, you
[1:09:37]
know, he said he's had to to say hi a
[1:09:41]
few times to to some of them, but now
[1:09:43]
they're they're starting to warm up. And
[1:09:46]
uh we do have really great kids. So it's
[1:09:48]
neat when people echo that. Um girls
[1:09:53]
tennis, they're seeking new challenges.
[1:09:55]
Um they're they're very good and um
[1:10:00]
we're going to have them all intact next
[1:10:03]
year as well. Pretty much all of them
[1:10:05]
intact. So they they are uh they're very
[1:10:08]
hard to beat. Um they went down to
[1:10:11]
Clovis down Fresno and they they went
[1:10:14]
undefeated down there. Uh their biggest
[1:10:17]
challenge is they took on Pleasant
[1:10:20]
Valley um just as a scrimmage and they
[1:10:25]
they got to see what a lot of club girls
[1:10:28]
tennis players are like and and that
[1:10:31]
raised the bar for them. But um but
[1:10:32]
they're very very resilient, very eager
[1:10:35]
for challenges. Um,
[1:10:39]
let's see. Our blue crew has received
[1:10:43]
praise from from officials, which is
[1:10:46]
nice. They're loud. They're rowdy, but
[1:10:49]
they're very respectful um and
[1:10:51]
encouraging.
[1:10:53]
So
[1:10:55]
those students, you know, a lot of
[1:10:56]
leadership students that are they're
[1:10:58]
involved there and and it's good to be
[1:11:01]
able to to have the officials turn
[1:11:04]
around and see them and smiling at them
[1:11:06]
instead of wanting a thorough mouth.
[1:11:09]
Uh we're currently this year we have our
[1:11:12]
our Wasp midcycle
[1:11:14]
um review. So just finished a a report
[1:11:19]
and we'll have a a meeting with Wasp on
[1:11:22]
that.
[1:11:23]
um just going over, you know, any
[1:11:25]
revisions that we needed for our school.
[1:11:27]
We set goals three years ago and so just
[1:11:30]
talking about those revisions with them.
[1:11:33]
And a big one uh this Friday for us, so
[1:11:37]
we entered into the T-Mobile Friday
[1:11:40]
night 5G lights competition and we we
[1:11:44]
won the $5,000. So they'll they'll be
[1:11:47]
here on Friday to set up a booze and do
[1:11:50]
presentation of that. um really large
[1:11:53]
check and then um and we actually got
[1:11:55]
the real check too. Um but but then
[1:11:59]
we're also in the competition to try and
[1:12:02]
get a field upgrade. So a million-dollar
[1:12:04]
field upgrade. And so if you go out to
[1:12:07]
the football field, you'll see how to
[1:12:10]
how to support us. And what's nice, it's
[1:12:13]
not really a competition against anybody
[1:12:15]
around here. So if uh you feel this area
[1:12:19]
is your community then support us. Uh
[1:12:22]
get on get on uh Instagram
[1:12:25]
and uh try to help us out. Be nice to
[1:12:28]
get a new field.
[1:12:30]
Any questions?
[1:12:33]
Thank you.
[1:12:36]
[applause]
[1:12:52]
Good evening board members and Mr.
[1:12:58]
» I don't tell
[1:13:02]
[laughter]
[1:13:05]
and community
[1:13:08]
that's
[1:13:52]
My My name is Nora and I'm a senior at
[1:13:54]
North Valley High School. I'm here
[1:13:55]
tonight to give you an update on some of
[1:13:58]
the things happening in our alternative
[1:14:00]
education program this year. Community
[1:14:02]
Day is now a program with North Valley
[1:14:04]
instead of operating as its own school.
[1:14:07]
One of the benefits is that students
[1:14:09]
have more opportunities to move between
[1:14:11]
community day and North Valley as they
[1:14:14]
make progress. Teachers can also rotate
[1:14:16]
between the programs and the schools are
[1:14:19]
now on the same bell and bus schedules.
[1:14:22]
Student students are also sharing buses
[1:14:26]
with Anderson and West Valley which has
[1:14:28]
opened up more transportation
[1:14:32]
options for students who might
[1:14:35]
um otherwise have trouble getting into
[1:14:37]
school. Oak View High School has also
[1:14:40]
had some really big changes. OPU moved
[1:14:42]
to a new building and the entire school
[1:14:45]
is being remodeled. The program
[1:14:47]
continues to grow and the new campus is
[1:14:50]
going to give Oakview students a much
[1:14:52]
better school environment. We're excited
[1:14:55]
for everyone to be able to see it once
[1:14:57]
everything is finished at North Valley.
[1:14:59]
The campus already looks completely
[1:15:01]
different. The classrooms have been
[1:15:03]
remodeled. There are new student desks
[1:15:05]
and the school just feels nicer to be
[1:15:08]
at. The campus has such a different vibe
[1:15:10]
compared different vibe compared to last
[1:15:13]
year. Students and staff seem to be in
[1:15:16]
better spirit and overall it's just feel
[1:15:19]
it just feels like a more positive
[1:15:21]
place. There are also new things
[1:15:24]
happening this year. Peer court is
[1:15:26]
supported supposed to start this month
[1:15:30]
which will give students a chance to be
[1:15:33]
involved in helping other students take
[1:15:36]
accountability for their action for
[1:15:39]
their actions. We have also have a new
[1:15:42]
credit tracking system that makes it
[1:15:44]
easier for us to see how we make credit
[1:15:47]
we are earning
[1:15:49]
to see how much credit we are earning
[1:15:51]
and where we stand towards graduation.
[1:15:54]
It also gives us something to work to
[1:15:56]
work toward and makes it easier to have
[1:16:00]
conversation with our teachers about our
[1:16:03]
progress. There have also been higher
[1:16:06]
expectations for our students behavior
[1:16:08]
and safety this year, including the new
[1:16:11]
no bag policy. It was definitely an
[1:16:13]
adjustment at first, but expectations on
[1:16:17]
campus are clear, especially when it
[1:16:18]
comes to drugs and other that can
[1:16:22]
interfere with school. We also have some
[1:16:26]
exciting changes in our classes. Mr.
[1:16:28]
Johnson is teaching culinary arts again,
[1:16:31]
which is super great and gives students
[1:16:33]
another another hands-on opportunity on
[1:16:36]
campus. Mr. Bixby has also been a great
[1:16:40]
addition to North Valley. A lot of
[1:16:41]
students are having a great time working
[1:16:44]
with him and helping him build up the
[1:16:45]
weight training program.
[1:16:49]
Anderson Adult School is making changes,
[1:16:51]
too. The acrylic acrylic
[1:16:54]
acrylic
[1:16:57]
curriculum is being updated and there
[1:17:01]
are more opportunities for students from
[1:17:03]
other schools in the district to use
[1:17:06]
adult school for credit recovery while
[1:17:08]
still being enrolled at the regular
[1:17:10]
school. Overall, there has been a lot of
[1:17:12]
changes across alternative education.
[1:17:15]
But from a student's perspective, it
[1:17:17]
feels like the progre the progresses are
[1:17:20]
moving in a really positive direction.
[1:17:23]
The campus the campuses are improving.
[1:17:26]
There are more opportunities for
[1:17:27]
students. Expectations are clearer and
[1:17:31]
there seems to be a lot of effort going
[1:17:33]
into making these school these schools
[1:17:36]
places where students can be successful.
[1:17:39]
Thank you for continuing to support our
[1:17:43]
programs and our students.
[1:17:47]
» [applause]
[1:17:54]
» Would recommend gone down to north
[1:17:58]
modernization complete. It's really
[1:18:00]
nice.
[1:18:04]
Okay, so we're going to move on to 4.1
[1:18:07]
which is public comment period. This is
[1:18:10]
public hearing. This public hearing is
[1:18:12]
to determine whether sufficient
[1:18:13]
textbooks and instructional materials
[1:18:15]
are being provided for the 2026 2027
[1:18:18]
school year. This public hearing is to
[1:18:20]
determine whether sufficient textbooks
[1:18:22]
and instructional materials are being
[1:18:24]
provided to each student in mathematics,
[1:18:27]
science, science laboratories, social
[1:18:29]
science, foreign language and English
[1:18:31]
language arts, including the English
[1:18:33]
language development component of an
[1:18:35]
adopted program consistent with the
[1:18:37]
disciples and content of the curriculum
[1:18:39]
frameworks. Do we have any public
[1:18:41]
comment?
[1:18:50]
We will move on to consent items.
[1:18:53]
» Oh, did you have a comment?
[1:18:55]
» I did.
[1:18:58]
» 4.2. Okay. Thank you. Uh, the board will
[1:19:01]
comments from the public on agenda or
[1:19:03]
non-aggenda items.
[1:19:11]
I just had a question. Um, there's a
[1:19:14]
rumor that West Valley and Anderson are
[1:19:18]
going to chirp for their football fields
[1:19:22]
and I just don't remember I just want to
[1:19:24]
know if that is it a rumor or is it
[1:19:27]
going to come to where it will be a
[1:19:29]
vote?
[1:19:31]
I just don't remember hearing anything
[1:19:32]
about it.
[1:19:34]
And so
[1:19:36]
» Can you repeat your question? Did you
[1:19:37]
say West Valley and Anderson for turf
[1:19:40]
» For turf for their football fields?
[1:19:42]
» Thank you.
[1:19:44]
» Would you mind?
[1:19:45]
» Yeah, we are currently exploring those
[1:19:47]
options and looking at what it will take
[1:19:50]
to modernize both stadiums going that
[1:19:53]
direction. Uh we're in the initial
[1:19:55]
beginning phases of that. cost will play
[1:19:58]
a big factor in the decision as we move
[1:20:02]
forward. But
[1:20:05]
you got to understand we're dealing with
[1:20:07]
Anderson High that was updated in 2009
[1:20:11]
but West Valley stands never been
[1:20:13]
updated. So the ADA compliance is
[1:20:16]
probably going to be significant and we
[1:20:18]
have not we're like I said we're in the
[1:20:21]
beginning phases of looking at what it's
[1:20:23]
going to take to bring that up to
[1:20:26]
standard and it would include those turf
[1:20:28]
fields if we go that direction.
[1:20:32]
» Would it be just set in stone or would
[1:20:34]
it be something that would be brought up
[1:20:36]
that we speak about? point though it'll
[1:20:39]
be an agendaized item for approval
[1:20:42]
because from the preliminary costs that
[1:20:45]
I've talked to a number of people just
[1:20:49]
the turf alone is probably $2 million
[1:20:52]
per that doesn't include the ADA
[1:20:55]
compliance that we'll have to do on top
[1:20:57]
of that so it's a large chunk of money
[1:21:00]
and that definitely comes forward
[1:21:04]
and
[1:21:06]
even if that is feasible We're not quite
[1:21:08]
sure yet. We haven't got the full
[1:21:10]
ramifications.
[1:21:14]
» Thank you.
[1:21:17]
» Do you have a concern of TUR versus
[1:21:19]
» I do.
[1:21:20]
» Okay. And that's why I just wanted to
[1:21:22]
know if it was set in stone or if we had
[1:21:25]
an option to speak about it at that
[1:21:27]
time.
[1:21:28]
I want to know your concern about your
[1:21:42]
Good evening. My name is Sydney Frost.
[1:21:44]
I'm 17 years old and currently a senior
[1:21:46]
here at Anderson High School. I would
[1:21:48]
like to start by thanking you all for
[1:21:50]
allowing me to speak tonight. I'm here
[1:21:52]
to speak in regards to the Anderson and
[1:21:54]
West Valley graduations being held on
[1:21:56]
the same day at the same time. I would
[1:21:59]
like to propose that this subject be
[1:22:02]
added to the October agenda.
[1:22:05]
As a student of this year's graduating
[1:22:07]
class, this subject connects to me on a
[1:22:09]
personal level as some of my closest
[1:22:11]
friends attend West Valley and also are
[1:22:14]
a part of this graduating class. It has
[1:22:16]
come to my attention that families and
[1:22:18]
staff members are also being affected by
[1:22:21]
this subject each year. I understand
[1:22:23]
that the date has already been set and
[1:22:25]
approved and legal aspects would put a
[1:22:27]
large dent in the ability to move
[1:22:29]
forward with separating these dates.
[1:22:31]
However, I would like to propose some
[1:22:33]
solutions which include proposing a
[1:22:35]
memorandum of understanding to the union
[1:22:38]
and the teachers adjusting the current
[1:22:40]
contract to include a change in date. I
[1:22:43]
also understand that West Valley has
[1:22:45]
already missed a day of school on August
[1:22:47]
27th due to a p power outage and there
[1:22:50]
is a scheduled makeup day in March.
[1:22:52]
However, it could maybe be changed to
[1:22:55]
make be made up in June to allow an
[1:22:57]
additional day of school where the
[1:22:59]
graduation could be held.
[1:23:01]
Unfortunately, I will be unable to
[1:23:03]
attend the October board meeting as I
[1:23:06]
will be in Indianapolis, Indiana for a
[1:23:08]
national FFA convention. But I am
[1:23:11]
prepared to have answers to any
[1:23:12]
questions you may have as well as
[1:23:14]
supplying supporting information written
[1:23:16]
to be pres presented by a fellow
[1:23:18]
classmate. If moving the date is
[1:23:20]
completely out of the question, I would
[1:23:22]
like to propose that the times of the
[1:23:24]
graduations are separated within two to
[1:23:27]
three hours of each other in order to
[1:23:28]
make it possible for families and
[1:23:30]
graduates to attend and support each
[1:23:33]
other. I know that the district health
[1:23:35]
has also been a topic of conversation
[1:23:37]
lately and I would and I think this
[1:23:39]
would be a great step and the right
[1:23:41]
direction to bring the schools closer
[1:23:42]
[cough] together, promote support and
[1:23:44]
goodwill within our schools. Thank you
[1:23:46]
for your time and consideration tonight.
[1:23:48]
Does anybody have any questions for me?
[1:23:51]
» I want to just say thank you. I did see
[1:23:53]
your email come through and that
[1:23:54]
correspondence and thank you for showing
[1:23:56]
up and still requesting the item even
[1:23:57]
though you can't be here in October. Um
[1:24:00]
but especially thank you for coming with
[1:24:02]
solutions. That is something we don't
[1:24:03]
often hear and I appreciate that and I
[1:24:06]
commend you.
[1:24:20]
» My name is Chris Stevens and I'm here
[1:24:24]
tonight because what started out as a
[1:24:26]
family asking questions has grown into
[1:24:28]
something much larger. Um over the past
[1:24:31]
several months,
[1:24:32]
[clears throat and cough] we've seen uh
[1:24:33]
we've been compiling a child welfare
[1:24:37]
oversight dossier. Um it's up to 365
[1:24:40]
pages now. Um the dossier contains
[1:24:44]
records, communications, timelines, and
[1:24:47]
experiences from families. Um this work
[1:24:50]
is continued. I'm working with Jessica
[1:24:52]
Saxon, who is a civil rights litigator
[1:24:54]
out of uh Blunt County, Tennessee. Uh
[1:24:59]
as this work has continued, more parents
[1:25:01]
and families in Shasta County and in the
[1:25:03]
Anderson area have all come forward um
[1:25:06]
with concerns that deserve to be heard.
[1:25:09]
Uh we're asking for an independent audit
[1:25:11]
to be done at this point. uh the school
[1:25:15]
district, school district personnel,
[1:25:17]
child welfare, um they've all uh
[1:25:21]
colluded together in some different ways
[1:25:24]
um to block parents who still have their
[1:25:27]
head rights from accessing the areas. Um
[1:25:31]
we have multiple parents that have seen
[1:25:33]
come forward and we're continuing to
[1:25:35]
document those patterns. And so I
[1:25:37]
brought it to the board before and we're
[1:25:39]
just asking for an outside audit at this
[1:25:42]
point.
[1:25:54]
Have you already contacted the district
[1:25:56]
office to provide your documentation and
[1:25:59]
request?
[1:26:00]
» I have and we had a uh closed session
[1:26:03]
board meeting. Um Jackie was not part of
[1:26:06]
that close session board meeting and
[1:26:08]
then since that uh more parents have
[1:26:10]
come forward with more documentation. So
[1:26:14]
» So right I remember that close session
[1:26:17]
meeting. Is this the first time you're
[1:26:18]
coming back though with more
[1:26:19]
information?
[1:26:20]
» Yes ma'am.
[1:26:21]
» Okay. Um
[1:26:23]
can we coordinate to get that
[1:26:25]
information from you?
[1:26:26]
» We can. Yeah. We can provide with the
[1:26:27]
dossier and all the records.
[1:26:29]
» Okay. That'd be great.
[1:26:31]
» Thank you students. Thank you.
[1:26:42]
This is like not anything off the
[1:26:43]
agenda. I just want to give a shout out
[1:26:44]
to um West Valley for being the early
[1:26:49]
college. Um I want to encourage you guys
[1:26:51]
to talk to anybody that wants to take
[1:26:54]
honors classes to do that. Um, I have
[1:26:57]
two kids that are entering into the
[1:26:58]
military right now and they are actually
[1:27:00]
able to utilize their college credits um
[1:27:03]
to rank above what they would normally
[1:27:06]
start at. So, I would encourage anybody
[1:27:09]
if your kid is not on the college
[1:27:11]
course, still take college course um
[1:27:14]
classes because they can be utilized in
[1:27:16]
other areas.
[1:27:26]
Thank you so much for all of your
[1:27:28]
comments. Um,
[1:27:34]
we're going to move on. Is um I actually
[1:27:36]
before we move on, are you able to send
[1:27:39]
your dates and your proposed ideas to
[1:27:41]
Mr. Parker?
[1:27:42]
» Yes.
[1:27:42]
» Okay, that would be great. I would love
[1:27:44]
that. Thank you. I think your solutions
[1:27:46]
are great.
[1:27:48]
» Thank you for coming.
[1:27:55]
My
[1:27:57]
earlier move on to consent now and with
[1:28:03]
consent. Uh these are considered and are
[1:28:06]
acted on by the board as one motion.
[1:28:10]
Does anybody want to pull any items from
[1:28:13]
consent?
[1:28:17]
5.1 to 5.8.
[1:28:22]
We approve all
[1:28:24]
» Second. All in favor?
[1:28:26]
» I I
[1:28:33]
» Okay, there were no items to move from
[1:28:35]
the consent agenda. We're going to move
[1:28:36]
into human resources now. 6.2
[1:28:40]
2026 2027 mandated training statements
[1:28:43]
for district employees.
[1:28:45]
Um, Michaela,
[1:28:48]
do you have a vote on this?
[1:28:55]
» Motions
[1:28:59]
to approve.
[1:29:02]
» All in favor?
[1:29:06]
» I'd like to discuss this for a moment.
[1:29:09]
Um,
[1:29:12]
I think those are mandated trainings
[1:29:14]
that
[1:29:16]
we're already getting paid to do and
[1:29:20]
should be done regardless whether you
[1:29:22]
paid additional money to do or not. I
[1:29:26]
think it's additional draw on funds that
[1:29:30]
we already
[1:29:32]
are going to be seeing increases on. I
[1:29:34]
don't know if that was taken into
[1:29:35]
account. Diesel's $3 more a gallon right
[1:29:39]
now. So, our expenses are going to be
[1:29:41]
increasing. When you look at the costs,
[1:29:44]
we're not going to see that right now.
[1:29:45]
Currently, when you analyze costs that
[1:29:48]
we can afford it, you're going to see it
[1:29:50]
in months to come. You're going to see
[1:29:52]
cost of goods increasing months to come.
[1:29:55]
Even on this is a one-time cost. Our
[1:29:58]
expenses for everything else are going
[1:30:00]
to increase. It's not that I don't agree
[1:30:02]
with helping teachers. I 100% agree with
[1:30:04]
helping teachers. I think if we're
[1:30:06]
helping them right now, we can help them
[1:30:08]
in other ways. We can help them with um
[1:30:11]
what they need in the classroom. I think
[1:30:12]
we can help them more with how we need
[1:30:14]
to address AI. We can help them with
[1:30:16]
counseling aspects for kids. We can help
[1:30:19]
them with other things. We don't need to
[1:30:21]
pay them for how they're already being
[1:30:22]
paid. I reached out to other teachers in
[1:30:25]
other areas and they laughed about
[1:30:27]
getting paid for what they already do. I
[1:30:30]
know I already I'm mandated to do a
[1:30:33]
bunch of trainings on my own position
[1:30:35]
and other positions I made in other
[1:30:37]
counties. Um
[1:30:39]
then it keeps getting added on and yes I
[1:30:43]
have to do it on my time and I have to
[1:30:45]
do it.
[1:30:48]
It's not that I don't value teachers at
[1:30:50]
all. I 100% value teachers.
[1:30:53]
I just think we already paying them and
[1:30:55]
we already have a salary. I don't think
[1:30:57]
we need to pay the mortgage
[1:31:00]
that they already do. So I don't
[1:31:05]
have a discussion.
[1:31:07]
» Jennifer, do you think it's going to
[1:31:09]
impact our budget very much
[1:31:16]
» At this time in the future? We don't
[1:31:18]
know.
[1:31:21]
» Yes. But these funds also can be used in
[1:31:24]
other ways. So, if we draw these funds
[1:31:27]
right now, you don't know what your
[1:31:29]
expenses are going to be next month or
[1:31:31]
the following months because you still
[1:31:33]
right now it's $8 a gallon. So, our
[1:31:37]
transportation costs, you know, right
[1:31:38]
now, you don't know what your
[1:31:40]
transportation costs are going to be
[1:31:42]
three months from now when you're
[1:31:43]
transporting all our athletics. You
[1:31:46]
don't know what the cost of our energy
[1:31:48]
is going to be three months from now. We
[1:31:50]
know what the costs are right now. We
[1:31:52]
don't know what the fiscal costs are
[1:31:53]
going to be down the future. So at this
[1:31:56]
point,
[1:31:58]
we don't know. So I know we don't can't
[1:32:02]
say that. So it depends if you want to
[1:32:04]
be conservative or not. So that's just
[1:32:07]
my opinion on things, but that's what my
[1:32:10]
job is. So that's what I look at. So
[1:32:12]
right now, yes. Um, I just think if
[1:32:17]
we're bound and determined to spend this
[1:32:19]
dollar amount, I know this first zone
[1:32:21]
out was $100,000.
[1:32:23]
Um, that's a lot of money. And I think
[1:32:28]
it can get spent on kids done different
[1:32:30]
ways. It can get spent if you want to
[1:32:32]
spend them on teachers. It can get spent
[1:32:34]
on other ways also. But if we want to
[1:32:37]
pay them more money for doing the job
[1:32:39]
they already do,
[1:32:47]
We have another
[1:32:52]
question.
[1:32:57]
Um, what was the calculated total for
[1:32:59]
all of us?
[1:33:00]
» Well, it depends. I'm
[1:33:04]
180 around 90,000. Uh but that's every
[1:33:10]
single week.
[1:33:15]
There's a date restraint September 30th.
[1:33:18]
» Yes.
[1:33:19]
» And that's this coming.
[1:33:30]
When you ran this model, what was the
[1:33:32]
the margin of um
[1:33:36]
like what what
[1:33:38]
we have to um you know to give out
[1:33:43]
essentially like she's talking about you
[1:33:46]
know future cost inflation when you're
[1:33:50]
running your financial models. What do
[1:33:51]
you normally account for? Is it like two
[1:33:54]
or 3% inflation model for each year?
[1:34:00]
So we did that.
[1:34:06]
Any other questions or discussion on
[1:34:07]
this? So we have multiple teachers that
[1:34:09]
have already completed this. I would
[1:34:11]
assume this is 9:30, right?
[1:34:19]
I think there was I would say
[1:34:25]
more than likely we will be at that
[1:34:27]
hospital.
[1:34:37]
for something they've already done.
[1:34:39]
We're rewarding them for something.
[1:34:46]
» I will say in the spirit of Mr. for not
[1:34:49]
being here. I know when he presented
[1:34:51]
this to the board um as an idea, his
[1:34:54]
initial um the essence of of what he's
[1:34:57]
trying to do is to um make us
[1:35:01]
competitive with other school districts.
[1:35:03]
He's looking to attract high quality
[1:35:05]
professional teachers to our district.
[1:35:08]
um and he thought because the the number
[1:35:12]
of increasing
[1:35:14]
um trainings that are required continue
[1:35:17]
to increase in the state of California.
[1:35:19]
Um and so I just want to put that out
[1:35:21]
there as you know as part of the
[1:35:23]
conversation. Not saying I'm for or
[1:35:26]
against but I just want to also um share
[1:35:29]
that is the original essence of the
[1:35:32]
reason why he agendaized this item. Um
[1:35:35]
and that was to again
[1:35:38]
um help us to be competitive and help us
[1:35:41]
to attract high quality individuals into
[1:35:45]
our district. I do know that this is a
[1:35:47]
one-time
[1:35:49]
um payment. This is like a one-time
[1:35:52]
stipen.
[1:35:54]
Um so we don't have this in our
[1:35:56]
contract, you know, moving forward for
[1:35:58]
years to come. I don't know what that
[1:36:00]
would look like. This would be an
[1:36:02]
ongoing thing or if this is just, you
[1:36:05]
know,
[1:36:07]
» Yeah,
[1:36:09]
» That's my question exactly. How is this
[1:36:11]
going to attract somebody if they're not
[1:36:12]
going to get paid for it next year?
[1:36:14]
» I think his idea was to somehow um
[1:36:18]
include this uh in barley for future.
[1:36:23]
» It's not just that. I mean you get you
[1:36:26]
understand then as things fluctuate we
[1:36:30]
have vacancies throughout. This is not
[1:36:32]
just a certificate.
[1:36:34]
This is classified as well when it takes
[1:36:37]
our employees. It's an opportunity to
[1:36:40]
say thank you for going above and beyond
[1:36:44]
doing these additional trainings and
[1:36:48]
intensity of training increasing. Um,
[1:36:52]
thank you for doing that on your time
[1:36:56]
» That you're required to do to have
[1:37:04]
retention.
[1:37:06]
» Yeah, but they're only made once
[1:37:12]
» Called
[1:37:18]
the motion to approve. Yes.
[1:37:24]
» All in favor? I
[1:37:26]
» I
[1:37:28]
» No
[1:37:30]
» I
[1:37:49]
6.3 Teacher consent forms to authorize
[1:37:51]
certificated staff to teach in an
[1:37:53]
assignment outside their current
[1:37:55]
credential for the 2026 2027 school
[1:37:58]
year.
[1:38:07]
» So there's there's uh teachers who uh
[1:38:11]
are are teaching outside of their
[1:38:13]
credential area. So there like I I have
[1:38:16]
a math credential, but this allows me to
[1:38:19]
teach in a special circumstance to teach
[1:38:22]
like a credit recovery class or in in
[1:38:27]
some cases you're you're going to look
[1:38:29]
at u not just credit recovery leadership
[1:38:33]
yearbook. those things that really don't
[1:38:36]
have a true credential, you can you're
[1:38:40]
able to teach those things.
[1:38:52]
» Do I have a motion?
[1:38:55]
» So move.
[1:38:59]
» Second.
[1:39:00]
» One second. All in favor? Hi.
[1:39:03]
» Hi.
[1:39:04]
» Hi.
[1:39:07]
» A 6.4 agreement with Selva for
[1:39:09]
interpreter services with for 2026 2027
[1:39:12]
school year. This isformational.
[1:39:15]
Do you have any questions or special
[1:39:17]
events?
[1:39:22]
basic Spanish.
[1:39:25]
» ASL is one of those students that we so
[1:39:28]
she
[1:39:37]
questions
[1:39:39]
Kayla. Oh, this is informationational.
[1:39:41]
The next one is an action item. All
[1:39:43]
right. 6.5. We have an agreement with
[1:39:45]
Shelby County Office of Education for
[1:39:48]
library services for the 2026 2027
[1:39:51]
school year.
[1:39:54]
» Do I have a motion?
[1:40:01]
» Okay.
[1:40:10]
» 475 for our site. Yes.
[1:40:14]
You have any other questions regarding
[1:40:15]
this item discussion?
[1:40:21]
» I do.
[1:40:23]
» So, looking at thisou, initially I
[1:40:25]
thought it was anou directly with Skoey,
[1:40:27]
but it's actually anouou with Skoey who
[1:40:29]
has anou with Shasta County Libraries.
[1:40:32]
Shasta County Libraries is the one who
[1:40:34]
retains the certified librarian to give
[1:40:37]
these services actually at a really good
[1:40:39]
rate. Four workshops per year. I mean, I
[1:40:41]
think this is a good rate. Um, however,
[1:40:43]
I I will I will be voting yes tonight,
[1:40:46]
but I would like in support to see um
[1:40:49]
which I know I can do from my seat at
[1:40:51]
Skoey, but I think the Anderson board
[1:40:52]
members need it as well only because you
[1:40:54]
know it is a contract for the contract
[1:40:56]
for the contract. So, I would be
[1:40:58]
requesting to see that with Shasta
[1:41:00]
County Library and SCO. Thank you.
[1:41:07]
» I do also have a question. Um, so we
[1:41:10]
originally had
[1:41:13]
school on here. What was the reason for?
[1:41:20]
» Yes, it it it was a mistake on on SCO's
[1:41:24]
part to put that down thinking that each
[1:41:26]
of our sites have their own library.
[1:41:29]
» Have we been charged for this though in
[1:41:31]
the past
[1:41:33]
» With that assumption?
[1:41:35]
» No, I'd have to go back and look
[1:41:37]
» Because this is a continuation of
[1:41:39]
correct.
[1:41:40]
» Yes.
[1:41:43]
Yes.
[1:41:44]
» So, I'd like to request that we look
[1:41:47]
back to see if we have been paying them
[1:41:50]
for this and what that means or looks
[1:41:53]
like as far as reimbursements.
[1:41:57]
None of those sites were receiving
[1:41:58]
services.
[1:42:08]
» Okay. Uh, do I have any motions for this
[1:42:11]
item, Michaela?
[1:42:21]
Motion to approve. I have a second.
[1:42:25]
I'll second it. All in favor?
[1:42:28]
» I
[1:42:35]
We're going to go back and check to see
[1:42:37]
if there's function. Yeah.
[1:42:43]
Okay. 6.6 is an action item uh agreement
[1:42:46]
with post wellness for counseling
[1:42:48]
services for special education students
[1:42:50]
for the 2026 2027 school year.
[1:43:00]
» Second.
[1:43:00]
» Second.
[1:43:00]
» All in favor? I I
[1:43:02]
» I
[1:43:06]

second. All in favor? I

Anderson Union High School District uh
[1:43:56]
has sufficient pupil textbooks
[1:43:58]
instructional material materials that
[1:43:59]
set forth in the California Ed code

[1:44:43]
Motion to approve. Second.
[1:44:50]
[laughter]
[1:44:51]
» All right. All in favor?
[1:44:53]
» I
[1:45:00]
Okay. 6.11
[1:45:03]
correspondence regarding approval of the
[1:45:05]
2026.7
[1:45:06]
control and accountability plan and
[1:45:08]
adopted budget. This isformational
[1:45:12]
Do you have any questions or discussion?
[1:45:21]
» Do you have any to add on to this?
[1:45:26]
» This this is just uh in the LCAP process
[1:45:32]
they laid back for some updates. We did
[1:45:35]
those updates. Now they approved it.
[1:45:38]
Just letting you know the government is
[1:45:39]
approved.
[1:45:45]
» Day 62
[1:45:47]
special education funding update. This
[1:45:48]
is alsoformational.
[1:45:51]
This was just some information that I
[1:45:53]
was excited to bring to the board. Um
[1:45:55]
with the budget passed, govern budget
[1:45:59]
that was just recently passed. Um we
[1:46:02]
were able to gain some additional
[1:46:04]
funding for special education. We were
[1:46:06]
at 917, just over $917.
[1:46:10]
Um,
[1:46:11]
and we are now up to 1340,
[1:46:15]
which is an increase of 46%. Um, which
[1:46:18]
brings our district to about
[1:46:22]
uh of extra, you know, additional
[1:46:25]
funding for special education. Um it's
[1:46:28]
one of our largest departments uh that
[1:46:31]
not only is you know getting money on
[1:46:35]
you know their side but the general
[1:46:37]
funds also so this while you know it's
[1:46:41]
not as much as I would like it'll
[1:46:44]
definitely help offset those costs
[1:46:50]
» Definitely something we needed for a
[1:46:52]
long time and we need more
[1:46:54]
» And I did note in the in here. You know,
[1:46:58]
his his department is is running very
[1:47:01]
well and they have a great um crew, a
[1:47:06]
total of uh 34
[1:47:08]
members of that department. I think you
[1:47:11]
still need a couple more parents. It
[1:47:13]
sounds like five more parents, but um
[1:47:17]
they do an exceptional job for that. 14
[1:47:20]
students right now.
[1:47:26]
Thank you,
[1:47:28]
Jennifer.
[1:47:30]
Okay. 6.13 memorandum of understanding
[1:47:33]
of Shasta County Office of Education to
[1:47:35]
serve meals to the project share program
[1:47:37]
at Anderson West Valley and North Valley
[1:47:40]
in the 2026 2027 school year. This is an
[1:47:44]
action item. Michaela,
[1:47:48]
» We have any questions or discussion
[1:47:50]
before motion?
[1:47:59]
second.
[1:48:00]
» All in favor?
[1:48:00]
» I
[1:48:01]
» I
[1:48:05]
6.14 Northern California Golf
[1:48:08]
Association grant request for Anderson
[1:48:10]
Union High School Girls Golf.
[1:48:18]
» Motion to approve.
[1:48:20]
» Second. All
[1:48:21]
» In favor? I
[1:48:26]
Okay. 6.15year
[1:48:28]
facilities master plan resolution.
[1:48:31]
This is an action item. Michaela.
[1:48:38]
» Sure.
[1:48:40]
» So to be eligible for modernization
[1:48:43]
funding from the state, each school
[1:48:46]
district has to develop a master plan
[1:48:48]
for their facilities. And then we also
[1:48:51]
have that this resolution is nine. So we
[1:48:54]
can submit by November 1st which gets us
[1:48:58]
in the queue gets us in line for those
[1:49:01]
funds that will be available from
[1:49:04]
proposition two but was passed in 2025
[1:49:10]
2014. So there's seven dollars passed
[1:49:13]
through a bond measure from the state
[1:49:16]
and this with this resolution passing
[1:49:18]
time eligible for those funds.
[1:49:23]
» So how much of
[1:49:25]
these dollars will the district be
[1:49:28]
responsible for?
[1:49:30]
» Modization is a 6040 split. 60% from the
[1:49:34]
state, 40% from the district.
[1:49:38]
And are we guaranteed to get it or just
[1:49:41]
have a half the ring?
[1:49:43]
» This will get us a half the ring. May
[1:49:46]
not be guaranteed that we'll get it. We
[1:49:49]
don't know that yet. But we have to do
[1:49:51]
this to be eligible.
[1:49:55]
» So this is kind of our wish list, not
[1:50:00]
or is this what we have to do
[1:50:03]
realistically? It's a requirement out of
[1:50:07]
prop to add the facility master plan and
[1:50:09]
this resolution to be eligible for
[1:50:12]
those.
[1:50:12]
» But if we so if we don't get this
[1:50:16]
funding
[1:50:17]
» Then we will adjust our master plan
[1:50:18]
according
[1:50:21]
» And it's my understanding that there's a
[1:50:23]
big pot of money but then the smaller
[1:50:25]
school districts kind of get like make
[1:50:27]
sure they get in there first before they
[1:50:29]
extend to. Yeah, we had someone come to
[1:50:30]
Zet Cascade. I could not believe how
[1:50:32]
complicated it was, but that's my
[1:50:34]
understanding. Okay.
[1:50:36]
» Prop 2 provides up to $400 million for
[1:50:39]
modernization projects and up to 330
[1:50:41]
million for new construction projects
[1:50:43]
across the state.
[1:50:46]
» And our facility master plan is actually
[1:50:48]
a seven plan. We've adjusted it for
[1:50:52]
funding purposes and architectural
[1:50:55]
purposes,
[1:50:57]
putting brakes in it. So that way we'll
[1:51:00]
have the funds to use those.
[1:51:04]
» I move your approval.
[1:51:06]
» I'll second. All in favor?
[1:51:08]
» I
[1:51:12]
» Okay, we have 7.1. Do we have any
[1:51:14]
comments from CSEA or CT
[1:51:16]
representatives?
[1:51:22]
» Mr. Parker is not here. Mr. Blue, do you
[1:51:25]
have any comments at this time?
[1:51:26]
» No.
[1:51:29]
You have any trusty comments?
[1:51:37]
» I
[1:51:39]
go for it.
[1:51:40]
» You're older. [laughter]
[1:51:47]
[laughter]
[1:51:49]
» I'm really excited about our new board
[1:51:51]
member. I think that's really the
[1:51:53]
student board member is Greg. I know
[1:51:55]
she's back for a little bit, but she's
[1:51:57]
gonna come out over this kind of meeting
[1:52:00]
always draws it out of me, you might
[1:52:02]
say. So, thank you for being here, both
[1:52:04]
of you.
[1:52:06]
» I just want to say how happy I was with
[1:52:08]
all of the student reports. And I don't
[1:52:09]
know if you remember when we first took
[1:52:10]
our seats, we did have students, we had
[1:52:12]
the principles coming up. Yeah. So, I I
[1:52:14]
love to hear it from the students. It's
[1:52:16]
a totally different field. So, and yeah,
[1:52:18]
the materials we get, the pictures, it's
[1:52:20]
just it warms my heart. So,
[1:52:23]
» I'd like to have um presentations of
[1:52:26]
some of your clubs or activities or how
[1:52:29]
you had the robotics team come show us
[1:52:31]
that one time.
[1:52:32]
» Oh, that's right. Remember that? I
[1:52:34]
almost got that program for different
[1:52:36]
things from the schools that you guys
[1:52:38]
do. I really like that. That was that
[1:52:42]
was neat.
[1:52:43]
or like the FFA when um the officers
[1:52:49]
when they're going maybe showcase the
[1:52:52]
ones that are making it professionals or
[1:52:54]
something um brag about that shows
[1:53:00]
or something that would be neat.
[1:53:05]
There was one girl that came in here um
[1:53:09]
she made like a really big graduation
[1:53:13]
And I think um as a student also
[1:53:16]
graduating this year that it's really
[1:53:19]
smart. Um and I have only been here for
[1:53:22]
high school. I didn't grow up here. I
[1:53:24]
was born here in the United States. But
[1:53:27]
as somebody with friends who have
[1:53:29]
siblings and friends that go to my
[1:53:31]
school and then there
[1:53:34]
um it's like really sad because
[1:53:42]
then they can't and also that their
[1:53:45]
friends like we had um
[1:53:48]
regulations last year
[1:53:51]
for their friends because they fell into
[1:53:54]
this space and like that was really nice
[1:53:57]
to see all that support. Um, and I think
[1:54:00]
we want to still
[1:54:16]
like the biggest thing that I got in
[1:54:18]
this meeting that was like
[1:54:25]
because
[1:54:33]
care about being able to come up here
[1:54:35]
and talk about that. Um it can be hard
[1:54:38]
for some people
[1:54:41]
really [laughter] but but
[1:54:45]
being able to like voice that and like
[1:54:47]
this is the problem and solutions
[1:54:52]
especially from their eyes and like
[1:54:56]
though like having grown up here like I
[1:54:58]
know that
[1:55:00]
really sweet and there for my friends at
[1:55:03]
my school they're there for them. So
[1:55:14]
Thank you.
[1:55:18]
I'm the only one that didn't comment.
[1:55:22]
I'm just warming up. I promise you'll
[1:55:23]
probably get sick here. My voice. So,
[1:55:26]
uh, I'm excited. I love listening to the
[1:55:29]
student awards. I like to hear more of
[1:55:31]
them. Like been watching all the social
[1:55:33]
medias for different schools, too.
[1:55:36]
It's really fun to see what's going on.
[1:55:42]
» Just want to say thank you to everyone
[1:55:44]
in attendance and vote and feedback. Um
[1:55:48]
I just see the momentum building for
[1:55:51]
this school year and I'm super excited
[1:55:53]
about it especially with all of the
[1:55:55]
excitement coming from our students when
[1:55:57]
we report. So good job. Thank you for
[1:56:00]
coming out tonight. We will see you next
[1:56:02]
time.
