[2:08]
Robert A.
[2:09]
>> Thank you, Council President Serini.
[2:11]
Ladies and gentlemen, special guests and
[2:13]
visitors, welcome to Dearborn. Before we
[2:16]
start our regular city council meeting,
[2:19]
I want you to know that I've served this
[2:21]
community for almost 25 years in this
[2:24]
capacity. And at every single council
[2:26]
meeting, it has been a tradition of the
[2:29]
Dearborn City Council and the
[2:31]
administration
[2:32]
to begin in prayer and recite the pledge
[2:35]
of allegiance of the United States of
[2:37]
America.
[2:38]
This is us. This is who we are. This is
[2:42]
the city of Dearbornne and this is the
[2:44]
United States of America.
[2:47]
Now, it is my honor to introduce Pastor
[2:49]
Jerry Reno from Grace Presbyterian
[2:53]
Church. deliver the invocation tonight.
[2:57]
I will also, as I've done many times
[3:00]
before, I will ask all who are able to
[3:03]
please stand for tonight's invocation
[3:06]
and remain standing for the pledge of
[3:08]
allegiance of our great country.
[3:11]
>> Well, thank you council. It's an honor
[3:13]
to be here again. My name is Jerry
[3:15]
Riando and I serve as pastor of Grace
[3:17]
Presbyterian Church in Dearborn. Thank
[3:20]
you so much for having me. Let's pray.
[3:23]
Almighty God, thank you for the members
[3:25]
of the city council before me. I thank
[3:28]
you for the fact that you have raised
[3:30]
them up to lead this city to sacrifice
[3:33]
for this city and to love the city. God,
[3:37]
we thank you for each member of this
[3:38]
council and I would pray that you would
[3:41]
bring blessing to them in their
[3:42]
individual lives. I pray that you would
[3:45]
bless their families and give them
[3:47]
health and protection. We know that most
[3:50]
of them work outside of these council
[3:52]
chambers. And so I pray that you would
[3:54]
bless the work of their hands and make
[3:56]
their labor fruitful.
[3:58]
The most important prayer that I can
[4:01]
pray for them this evening is this. I
[4:03]
pray that you would draw each of them
[4:05]
closer and closer to yourself and that
[4:08]
they would come to know you more and understand your immeasurable
[4:13]
love that you offer both tonight and all
[4:16]
the days of their lives.
[4:18]
Lord, we know that there is a great deal
[4:21]
of work before council this even some of
[4:23]
it is complex. Some of it is tedious.
[4:27]
Some of it is emotionally charged. Most
[4:30]
of it affects the lives of thousands of
[4:31]
people. On some matters there is
[4:34]
unonyimity.
[4:36]
On others disagreement. And so my prayer
[4:39]
this evening for this council is that
[4:41]
you would grant them wisdom. In James
[4:44]
chapter 1, you give us an astounding
[4:46]
promise that when we lack wisdom, we We
[4:48]
ask you and you give generously. And so
[4:51]
we do that just now. Please God, grant
[4:53]
these men wisdom. Grant them patience
[4:56]
and understanding and forbearance.
[4:59]
Grant these things so that they can
[5:01]
effectively do what you have called them
[5:03]
to do, which is to lead and love the
[5:05]
city. God, we know we can ask these
[5:08]
things of you because no matter how much
[5:09]
we love the city, and we do, we know
[5:12]
that you love the city and her people
[5:14]
even more. We desire her well.
[5:18]
Father, we pray all these things in
[5:20]
Christ's holy name. Amen.
[5:28]
» United States of America
[5:37]
for all.
[5:42]
» Thank you, pastor.
[5:46]
All right, Mr. Clerk, can we have the
[5:48]
first item of business?
[5:50]
>> Uh, item number four is a resolution by
[5:52]
Council President Sereni, supported
[5:54]
unanimously offering condolences to
[5:57]
family of Ronnie L. Chandler and
[5:59]
requesting immediate effect.
[6:00]
>> Thank you, Mr. Clerk. We are deeply
[6:02]
saddened by the past passing of Ronnie
[6:05]
Chandler, a resident of Dearborn,
[6:07]
Michigan, who was born on July 16th,
[6:08]
1944, and passed away on July 28th of
[6:12]
this year at the age of 82 years old.
[6:14]
Ron leaves behind his beloved wife
[6:15]
Sandy, his children Amanda, Bridget,
[6:18]
Katie, and Megan, his grandchildren, and
[6:20]
many family members and friends who will
[6:23]
ever forever cherish his memory. After
[6:26]
attending Fortune High School, Ron's
[6:27]
love for baseball led him to pursue a
[6:29]
professional career as a pitcher from
[6:31]
1963 to 1970. Played in the minor
[6:34]
leagues for several teams, uh,
[6:36]
dedicating himself to a sport that he
[6:38]
loved. Following his baseball career,
[6:41]
uh, Ron uh, briefly worked in the
[6:43]
drywall industry before returning to
[6:45]
school in 1976 where he went on to earn
[6:47]
his bachelor's degree from the Wayne
[6:49]
State University. After graduating, Ron
[6:51]
built a successful career as a financial
[6:53]
adviser for Sigma Financial. He was a
[6:56]
dedicated to helping others plan for
[6:57]
their futures and was respected by his
[7:00]
colleagues and clients for his
[7:01]
integrity, wisdom, genuine commitment to
[7:04]
helping others succeed. Above all, Ron
[7:07]
cherished his family. He and he shared
[7:09]
an extraordinary marriage with his
[7:11]
beloved wife Sandy, a testament to a
[7:13]
lifetime of love, devotion, and an
[7:15]
unwavering commitment to family. Ron
[7:18]
also had a gift of of finding joy in the
[7:21]
simple pleasure such as a fresh cup of
[7:22]
coffee, a good meal with his loved ones,
[7:25]
and of course, watching a baseball game
[7:26]
and enjoying his nearby golf game. Uh
[7:29]
Ronnie Chandler uh will be remembered as
[7:31]
a man who who found happiness in every
[7:34]
moment in everyday moments and took
[7:36]
great pleasure in sharing those moments
[7:38]
with people that he cared about. His
[7:40]
legacy lives on through the family uh
[7:42]
his family members that he cherished and
[7:45]
the many many lives that he touched with
[7:47]
kindness, integrity, generosity
[7:51]
and uh quiet leadership. We extend our
[7:54]
deepest condolences to Sandy, his
[7:57]
children, grandchildren, extended
[7:58]
families, friends, and to all that had
[8:00]
the privilege of knowing Mr. Chandler,
[8:02]
as I always called him. And uh on a
[8:05]
personal note, his wife uh taught uh
[8:07]
every one of my children through uh
[8:09]
elementary school. Tremendous people uh
[8:12]
that u believed in hard work, paying
[8:15]
your dues, respecting others, and living
[8:18]
a clean, honest life. Tremendous man.
[8:20]
And um we we uh may he rest in and
[8:24]
eternal peace. A unanimous role shall be
[8:27]
uh attached. All right, Mr. Cook. The
[8:30]
next item will be public comment.
[8:32]
Correct. All right. Before we go to the
[8:33]
public comment, I just want to give some
[8:35]
ground uh ground rules that we do every
[8:38]
meeting. The public comment under the
[8:39]
term of the 34th council was changed to
[8:42]
allow 30 minutes prior to our regular
[8:46]
business items which we will do here
[8:47]
today. We have comment cards we'd like
[8:50]
you to fill out. U unfortunately we will
[8:53]
only allow 30 minutes in the beginning
[8:55]
of the meeting. Then after the business
[8:56]
items, we will then pull the rest of the
[8:59]
cards for those to speak. Kind reminder,
[9:01]
we do not allow any outbursts. If you
[9:04]
truly want to be heard, you need to be
[9:07]
able to be heard by uh the council. We
[9:11]
ask you others that are in the audience
[9:12]
not to have any out outbursts
[9:14]
whatsoever. And just keep in mind also
[9:16]
that um you will have a threeinut time
[9:20]
limit. The clerk will let you know when
[9:21]
there's 30 seconds remaining
[9:24]
and we will begin uh Mr. Clerk at uh
[9:27]
711. Okay. All right. So we do have some
[9:31]
cards and then those who did fill out a
[9:32]
card, you will be called but it will be
[9:34]
at the end of the meeting if you don't
[9:36]
make the first uh 10. All right. Uh
[9:39]
first we have uh is Miss uh Cheryl
[9:42]
Cooper.
[9:51]
Okay. So, we don't have Miss uh Pamel
[9:54]
Stokes. Just keep in mind, folks, the microphone is in one spot. Is there
[10:00]
a pathway
[10:02]
officer? Is there a pathway through this
[10:04]
side?
[10:06]
Yeah.
[10:09]
If we can Yeah, we Yeah. Or from the
[10:12]
rear. Yeah. Is the rear clo better access to go around? All right.
[10:16]
So, if anybody's on this side of the
[10:18]
side of us, if they like Yeah, just
[10:21]
Yeah. All right. Just try to go around
[10:22]
to get that thing. Miss Stokes, thank
[10:24]
you for being here. You may proceed.
[10:28]
>> Is this okay? Can you hear? Okay.
[10:29]
>> Excellent.
[10:30]
>> Okay. Um, council members, mayor, my
[10:35]
name is Paula Hamilton Stokes and I
[10:38]
reside on Lynon Street.
[10:42]
I am here this evening to show support
[10:45]
for my beloved hometown.
[10:48]
I thank you for the privilege of your
[10:50]
time.
[10:52]
Dearborn has one of the most diverse
[10:54]
populations in our country and I will
[10:57]
not stand idly by as outsiders attempt
[11:02]
to sew division and hate. They would
[11:06]
have you believe our city is under
[11:08]
siege.
[11:10]
This is no more than an attempt to fear
[11:13]
and could not be further from the truth.
[11:18]
I have served three different mayors
[11:21]
and was blessed to be mentored by each
[11:24]
one, making me the woman I am today.
[11:29]
Strong,
[11:31]
confident,
[11:33]
and incapable of backing down when I see
[11:37]
injustice.
[11:39]
Dearborn has always been there for me,
[11:42]
and I remain grateful.
[11:45]
Some of the kindest, caring, and
[11:47]
open-minded people I have ever known
[11:51]
live right here. We share our
[11:54]
differences. We do not fear them.
[11:58]
God bless you, dear neighbors.
[12:01]
>> Thank you, Miss Stokes. [applause]
[12:09]
Uh thank you. We have uh Pastor Lorenzo
[12:12]
Su.
[12:17]
[applause]
[12:24]
My name is Pastor Lorenzo Sula. I have
[12:26]
the honor and the privilege of being the
[12:27]
senior pastor of 180 church where
[12:29]
President Donald Trump came for his
[12:31]
birthday weekend. And it was there that
[12:33]
I had an opportunity to pray over the
[12:36]
president. And it was at that moment
[12:38]
that he told me I would pray at the
[12:41]
inauguration and I would be able to
[12:43]
preach at the rededication.
[12:46]
The reason why I'm here today because
[12:49]
dearbornne
[12:51]
in all of your prosperity
[12:54]
and everything that you've done the
[12:57]
spirit of Hubard is still in this city.
[13:01]
The The spirit of racism still dwells
[13:05]
in this city. This is a CITY THAT HAS
[13:08]
PROSPERED WITH YOUR mosque and your call
[13:11]
to prayer. But yet, it's on the back of
[13:14]
my people. It's on THE BACK OF BLACK
[13:17]
people that we have funded everything
[13:21]
you do. You look down on us. Your police
[13:25]
enact injustice on us. And when Jake
[13:28]
Lane talked about Jesus,
[13:31]
HE WAS ASSAULTED
[13:34]
BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT UP UNDER AMERICAN
[13:37]
LAW. YOU ARE UP UNDER SHARIA LAW. THAT
[13:41]
IS THE REASON WHY YOU HAVE MADE NO
[13:43]
ARREST. YOU LAUGH. YOU ARE THREE
[13:46]
GENERATIONS OF RACISM IN THIS VERY CITY.
[13:50]
YOU KNOW IT. YOU HAVE SEEN WHAT HAS
[13:53]
HAPPENED IN THIS CITY. AND IT IS MY
[13:55]
PEOPLE THAT HAVE FUNDED YOU. IT'S MY
[13:58]
PEOPLE THAT MADE SURE THAT YOU HAVE WHAT
[14:01]
YOU HAVE. AND YOU SPIT on us. YOU
[14:04]
DEGRADE US. BUT YOU'RE ONLY 1% OF THIS
[14:08]
NATION. WE ARE NOT A NATION OF MUSLIMS.
[14:12]
WE ARE A NATION OF CHRISTIANS. WE ARE
[14:15]
ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE. THE
[14:18]
GOD OF THE BIBLE, THE GOD [screaming] OF
[14:22]
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. THAT'S THE GOD IN
[14:26]
WHOM WE SERVE. I WANT YOU TO PROVE TO ME
[14:28]
WE'RE NOT UP UNDER SHARIA LAW. WILL YOU
[14:31]
DENOUNCE COUNCILMAN O'REILLY? WILL YOU
[14:33]
DENOUNCE SHARIA LAW?
[14:39]
Will you den I KNOW YOU WON'T. WILL YOU
[14:41]
DENOUNCE SHARIA LAW? ABRAHAM, YOU WENT
[14:44]
TO HILLSDALE. WILL YOU RENOUNCE SHARIA
[14:47]
LAW? WILL YOU RENOUNCE SHARIA LAW?
[14:50]
AMERICA, WE HAVE LOST THIS CITY. THIS IS
[14:53]
A CITY THAT IS NO LONGER UP UNDER
[14:54]
AMERICAN LAWS. WE ARE UP UNDER SHARIA
[14:57]
law and we will not HAVE IT ANYMORE.
[14:59]
ENOUGH [screaming] IS ENOUGH.
[15:06]
[cheering]
[15:12]
» All right. All right. Order. We got to
[15:16]
have We're gonna have order in the
[15:18]
meeting. We're gonna have order in the
[15:19]
meeting, folks. Okay. I just would like
[15:21]
to remind everyone there is a microphone
[15:23]
system in the city of Dearbornne. We can
[15:25]
afford one. So, when you're speaking, if
[15:28]
you'd like to raise your voice, you like
[15:30]
to raise your voice, guys. You can, but
[15:32]
it's not doing anything else. So, we
[15:34]
we'd like we're going to give you a
[15:36]
warning. Speak. We can hear you. We want
[15:38]
you to be heard. We understand passion.
[15:40]
We're all about passion. But keep in
[15:42]
mind that be respectful to to people
[15:44]
that are here that want to be heard. So,
[15:45]
please try to contain yourself if you
[15:48]
can. Um, can we have our uh Sam beers
[16:11]
tonight? I speak not only as a resident
[16:13]
in your Wayne County Commissioner, but
[16:15]
as someone who has been selling real
[16:17]
estate in Dearborn for four decades. For
[16:20]
the last 40 years, I have witnessed
[16:22]
firsthand the transformation of this
[16:24]
great and diverse city. I have watched
[16:26]
families build their lives here,
[16:28]
businesses grow, neighborhoods change,
[16:30]
and generations come together to make
[16:32]
Dearborn the community it is today. And
[16:34]
that is why I want to say this very
[16:36]
clearly. Dearbornne is America. The
[16:40]
Constitution of the United States is the
[16:42]
highest law of the land, not the law of
[16:44]
any religion. It protects every one of
[16:47]
us, whether we pray in a mosque, a
[16:49]
church, a synagogue, or somewhere else.
[16:52]
To those who came to Dearborn looking to
[16:54]
spread fear and division, I say to you,
[16:57]
come see the real Darbone. Look at our
[16:59]
neighborhoods, our businesses, our
[17:01]
schools, in our houses of worship. You
[17:03]
will see people from different
[17:05]
backgrounds living, working, worshiping,
[17:07]
and raising their families together. You
[17:09]
will see a nativity tradition that has
[17:11]
been part of this great community for
[17:13]
more than 70 years. You will see
[17:15]
businesses selling pork products. You
[17:17]
will see religious freedom in action.
[17:20]
That is not Sharia Allah. That is
[17:22]
America. And those who came here
[17:25]
intending to desecrate the Quran to
[17:27]
provoke or insult our community.
[17:29]
Understand this. Muslims honor Jesus
[17:32]
Christ, Mary and Moses, peace be upon
[17:35]
them. Jesus is honored throughout the
[17:37]
Quran. Mary, Miriam is so deeply honored
[17:40]
that an entire chapter is named after
[17:42]
her and Moses is mentioned more than any
[17:45]
other prophet 136 times. Those figures
[17:48]
are not strangers to Muslims. They are
[17:51]
part of our faith. You have the
[17:53]
constitutional right to disagree with
[17:54]
us, protest peacefully, and speak your
[17:57]
mind. And we have those same rights to
[17:59]
worship, to speak, to assemble, and to
[18:02]
live our faith openly. Let me tell you
[18:04]
who the people of Dearborn are. We are
[18:07]
doctors, teachers, judges, lawyers,
[18:10]
business owners, police officers, public
[18:13]
servants, first responders, and members
[18:15]
of United States Armed Forces. We pay
[18:17]
our taxes. We create jobs. We educate
[18:20]
our children. We care for our neighbors.
[18:22]
We came from different places, but we
[18:24]
build something together. That is the
[18:27]
beauty of America. So to anyone who
[18:29]
comes to the air when looking for
[18:30]
division, I say you may not understand
[18:32]
us but you will not define us.
[18:34]
>> You have 30 seconds remaining.
[18:35]
>> You may try to divide us but you will
[18:36]
not succeed. We are Americans. We are
[18:38]
proud of our heritage. Come to Dearborn
[18:40]
peacefully. Come respectfully. Exercise
[18:42]
your first amendment rights and we will
[18:44]
defend your right to do so. But don't
[18:46]
mistake our diversity for or for
[18:48]
division or our faith for something
[18:51]
foreign to America. The urban is
[18:52]
America. The constitution is our law.
[18:54]
Our diversity is our strength and once
[18:57]
again we don't have Sharia Allah and
[18:59]
dear one we have shawarma law and we
[19:01]
proudly claim we proudly claim
[19:03]
>> you have your time has expired
[19:05]
>> shawarma outside the middle east
[19:07]
[applause]
[19:08]
we have some of the best shawarma
[19:09]
outside the middle east so try some
[19:11]
while you are here thank you may god
[19:13]
bless dear one and may god bless the
[19:15]
United States of America
[19:16]
>> thank you thank you Mr.
[19:18]
All right.
[19:21]
[applause]
[19:24]
All right. Thank you, Mr. Bayon. Uh,
[19:27]
next we have Mr. Eric Mgo.
[19:31]
Yes, sir. Sorry about that.
[19:42]
All right. Now, I'm listening to you
[19:44]
guys come up here. You guys want to talk
[19:45]
about how you're being honest and you're
[19:47]
speaking from the heart. Not one of you
[19:49]
people that come here and speak without
[19:50]
a freaking script in your hands, word
[19:52]
for word reading it. You got a mayor
[19:54]
that says tells an American citizen that
[19:56]
he cannot be welcome at Dearborn,
[19:58]
Michigan if he doesn't want a damn
[19:59]
terrorist on the name of a street. You
[20:02]
got you got members on the board over
[20:04]
there laughing at American citizens when
[20:07]
they're concerned about Jira law and the
[20:09]
Muslims that are telling us we're going
[20:11]
to take over your city. We have Assan
[20:13]
saying, "We're going to do things
[20:14]
to your women." And we're saying, "Oh,
[20:16]
this is peaceful that you people came
[20:18]
here to give us peace. YOU GUYS CAME
[20:20]
HERE TO CONQUER US. THIS IS THE CRUSADES
[20:23]
all over again. You're going to think
[20:24]
you're going to take this country
[20:25]
without FIRING A SHOT." HOW ABOUT THIS?
[20:28]
HOW ABOUT THE AMERICAN CITIZENS SAY,
[20:29]
"NO, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO do this. WE'RE
[20:32]
GOING TO STAND UP. WE'RE GOING TO TELL
[20:33]
YOU EVERYBODY HERE FROM EVERY SINGLE
[20:36]
from felons TO NORMAL PEOPLE, BIBLE
[20:39]
THUNDERSTORMS
[20:42]
MUSLIM INVASION, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO
[20:44]
HAPPEN IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
[20:45]
NOT WHILE CHRISTIAN CRUSADERS ARE
[20:47]
STANDING HERE BLOCKING YOU. THAT'S ALL I
[20:50]
got to say.
[20:52]
>> Thank you.
[21:00]
» Okay.
[21:02]
we need
[21:04]
>> folks, we need some we need order in
[21:06]
here. The next uh
[21:09]
speaker we have is uh Mr. Joseph Barro.
[21:14]
You here?
[21:15]
>> Bario,
[21:19]
do you want me? We could call you later
[21:20]
if you like. Can
[21:22]
there is a pathway right there?
[21:25]
>> There's a pathway. You could come this
[21:26]
way. Yes.
[21:31]
It was one from the middle.
[21:53]
» All right. Thank you.
[21:59]
My name is Joseph Barajio, citizen of
[22:02]
the good city of Dearborn.
[22:05]
I am a I'm a professional in the sense
[22:08]
of teaching history, writing history,
[22:11]
and reading history.
[22:14]
And I'd like to say that there was a
[22:15]
formidable year in the seventh century
[22:18]
when a new country came aboard.
[22:21]
was the country Russia and the uh
[22:25]
equivalent of George Washington Vladimir
[22:28]
wanted to consolidate this new country
[22:30]
of his by adopting a religion.
[22:34]
He first went to Christianity but the
[22:37]
schism the differences between Rome and
[22:41]
uh Orthodox Eastern Orthodox made him
[22:44]
shy away from it. He didn't want
[22:45]
anything to do with this kind of a
[22:46]
trouble. He looked at Islam, but he had
[22:50]
to defer from it too because his people
[22:51]
love drinking vodka. So he looked at
[22:55]
Judaism and he said, "Yeah, this is the
[22:56]
right religion for my people." And a a
[23:00]
Turko Finnish nomadic tribe out of Kev,
[23:04]
Ukraine,
[23:06]
opted to become Jews. Jews, our Judaism
[23:09]
adopted Judaism. They're not necessarily
[23:10]
Jews because these were people that were
[23:12]
not Seemitic people. They were not had
[23:15]
no direct historical connection to
[23:18]
Palestine.
[23:19]
And the descendants of these people
[23:21]
became the Ashkanazi Jews who ruled uh
[23:24]
apartheid Israel. The same text context
[23:27]
with them. They're not a Seemetic
[23:30]
people. They have no historical
[23:32]
connection to Palestine. And it's the
[23:35]
same group that's responsible for
[23:37]
murdering, systematically murdering
[23:39]
79,000
[23:42]
Palestinian Seemetic people, 20,000 of
[23:46]
whom were children. And as documented
[23:49]
that the IDF actually turned off fuel to
[23:53]
incubators that killed and suffocated
[23:56]
Palestinian children to death. You talk
[24:00]
about evil. Raw, pure evil.
[24:04]
unforgettable evil. That was it. Well,
[24:08]
at any rate, there's it's notable about
[24:11]
one thing, too. There was a a comment
[24:13]
made in the last council meeting I
[24:15]
attended with the quote was, "What is
[24:19]
Israel to do? I'm here to tell Israel
[24:22]
what to do. You need to give back the
[24:25]
land that you took from the Palestinian
[24:27]
people, the Semitic. You need to give it
[24:29]
back to the Cathartic Jews who were
[24:31]
seemetic to the
[24:32]
>> You have 30 seconds remaining
[24:33]
>> that were a part of that whole theme.
[24:36]
>> All right, I'm closing out with this
[24:37]
brief statement. The first the
[24:40]
constitution of the United States is
[24:42]
national law. There's a section dealing
[24:45]
with the freedom of religion, all
[24:47]
religions in this country, and that
[24:49]
involves Islam. And I say this to the
[24:53]
xenophobes, the anthropobes, and the
[24:56]
Islamophobes. I have one thing to say to
[24:59]
you. You can take your hateful,
[25:01]
blackhearted ways and shove it up where
[25:04]
the sun doesn't shine.
[25:05]
>> The time has expired.
[25:07]
[applause and cheering]
[25:14]
» Okay.
[25:16]
All right. Uh, next speaker we have next
[25:19]
speaker we have is uh
[25:22]
>> Okay. Next speaker Jake Jake Lang.
[25:30]
» [cheering]
[25:33]
» I can't listen to Jake.
[25:45]
Sir. Sir.
[25:47]
>> All right. We're going to There's no
[25:50]
books or props allowed. So, you either
[25:52]
put them down or you'll be removed. You
[25:53]
got one second and you'll be removed.
[25:56]
What do you want to do?
[25:57]
>> Put them down or you're going to be
[25:58]
There's no books. No paraphernalia.
[26:01]
That's the council rules.
[26:04]
[applause]
[26:08]
» Hey, let's go. For three years straight,
[26:13]
the number one name in the country of
[26:16]
England for newborn babies is Muhammad.
[26:20]
Tell me that white Christians are not
[26:22]
being invaded. How can you lie to our
[26:25]
faces with your tea? This is an invasion
[26:28]
on all fronts. Our people are being
[26:30]
pushed out of the workplace. We're being
[26:33]
pushed out of city councils. That smug
[26:35]
face of the tea Muslims needs to be
[26:38]
wiped off these people's faces. These
[26:40]
people are looking to destroy us. These
[26:44]
people are looking to outbreed us. The
[26:47]
Muslims have not come here to
[26:49]
assimilate. They have come here to steal
[26:52]
the wealth of this land to rape our
[26:54]
women. What about the 250,000
[26:57]
women in England that WERE RAPED BY
[27:00]
PAKISTANI MUSLIMS and they got little
[27:02]
slaps on the wrist from the woke
[27:05]
democratic regime. The Muslims are being
[27:08]
used by the Democrats to instill
[27:11]
SOCIALISM IN AMERICA. We know it. Look
[27:15]
at all of your top Muslim leaders. They
[27:17]
all pander to homosexuality, the trans
[27:20]
agenda, and to socialism. You're fake
[27:23]
Muslims. You're just using the
[27:25]
Democrats, these woke liberal idiots,
[27:27]
the women in New York to gain power. And
[27:31]
once the Muslims have power in this
[27:32]
country, then they will start throwing
[27:35]
the homosexuals off the roofs just like
[27:37]
they do in Palestine. You guys all cry
[27:40]
about Palestine. Try being a white
[27:42]
Christian man, preaching the word of God
[27:45]
in Palestine. Guess what MIGHT HAPPEN TO
[27:47]
YOU? THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME
[27:50]
HERE IN DEARBORNNE, MICHIGAN. YOU WILL
[27:52]
BE STONED FOR SAYING THE NAME of Jesus
[27:54]
Christ in Palestine, in Afghanistan, in
[27:58]
Yemen, in Iraq. JESUS CHRIST IS OUTLAWED
[28:01]
IN THOSE countries and we will stand.
[28:04]
The crusade has begun. Your time in this
[28:08]
country is running short. The time of
[28:10]
stealing FROM THE DETROIT BLACK
[28:12]
CHRISTIAN AMERICANS IS OVER.
[28:15]
>> OVER.
[28:16]
>> IT'S OVER.
[28:17]
>> MUSLIMS, GO HOME BEFORE WE SEND YOU
[28:20]
HOME.
[28:22]
>> WE HAVE CRUISE SHIPS. WE HAVE PLANES. WE
[28:25]
HAVE TRAINS. AND WE'RE GOING TO PACK
[28:26]
THEM OUT WITH ALL OF THE ARABS. You have
[28:29]
to go home. We don't want you here. Our
[28:32]
founding fathers gave this country to
[28:35]
their posterity. WHITE CHRISTIANS AND
[28:38]
THEY BROUGHT ALONG WITH THEM THEIR BLACK
[28:39]
FRIENDS. AND NOW WE'RE HERE TO RECLAIM
[28:41]
AMERICA FOR THE BLACKS AND THE WHITE
[28:43]
PEOPLE.
[28:44]
>> We have 30 seconds remaining.
[28:46]
>> WE WILL NOT ALLOW THESE THIRD world
[28:49]
mongrels to run rough shot over us
[28:52]
without a fight. THE BODY OF CHRIST IS
[28:54]
ONE. IF YOU ARE IN CHRIST, YOU ARE MY
[28:57]
BROTHER. IF YOU STAND AGAINST ISLAM, YOU
[28:59]
ARE MY BROTHER. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO
[29:02]
STAND UP AND TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK, YOU
[29:04]
ARE MY BROTHER. JOIN THE CRUSADES AND
[29:07]
EXTRICATE THIS FILTH FROM our country.
[29:10]
We will have our way. Come blood or
[29:13]
sweat, we will have our way.
[29:15]
>> This is a Christian land. Christ is
[29:18]
king.
[29:19]
>> Thank you.
[29:20]
>> Christ is [cheering] king.
[29:22]
>> Christ,
[29:25]
» Jason. You can
[29:27]
>> applause.
[29:50]
Okay, folks. Let's have order. We have
[29:53]
the best police department in the state
[29:54]
of Michigan. They're handling it.
[29:59]
[applause]
[30:04]
» All right. Uh, next. Thank you.
[30:07]
>> Thank you. Next, we have uh Mr. Alabas
[30:10]
Far Hat.
[30:16]
Good.
[30:19]
evening, council. I um you know,
[30:22]
I'm disappointed that we continue and
[30:26]
there are folks that continue to stand
[30:27]
behind this guy Jake Lang, a man who
[30:30]
tried to sleep with a 15-year-old who
[30:32]
defends a pedophile like Donald Trump
[30:35]
WHO STANDS UP FOR JEFFREY EPSTEIN.
[30:38]
somebody who wants to question how
[30:39]
American we are yet sells our country
[30:42]
out every single day in the White House.
[30:44]
I understand the clicks are nice and the
[30:46]
headlines are nice, but this is an
[30:47]
American city. And when you go and bring
[30:50]
this type of hate and rhetoric to this
[30:52]
city, have a nice day, sir, to this
[30:54]
city. All you're doing is dividing this
[30:56]
neighborhood and you're dividing our
[30:58]
community.
[30:59]
>> You can do that where you are. Don't
[31:00]
come here cuz DEARBORN IS A SHINING
[31:03]
beacon of unity and coexistence. Amen.
[31:05]
>> We're a place where neighbors check in
[31:07]
on neighbors, where they share meals
[31:09]
over fence lines, where they stand
[31:11]
together and they support each other.
[31:13]
But if folks want to come here and
[31:15]
preach hate and division, bring their
[31:17]
ARs and their drum magazines and stand
[31:20]
in the face of little children at the
[31:21]
school on Ford Row, the ICA, or
[31:24]
terrorize the church next door, don't
[31:26]
come here
[31:27]
>> plainly because this is a city where we
[31:30]
believe in coexistence and unity. where
[31:32]
we believe that to be American is about
[31:34]
the values you preach and believe and
[31:36]
stand for and not about your religion or
[31:39]
birthplace. That is what it is to be
[31:41]
American. That is why our founding
[31:42]
fathers gave us a constitution and bill
[31:44]
of rights that protects your freedom of
[31:46]
speech just as much as our freedom of
[31:49]
religion. This is a city where we build
[31:51]
the bestselling pickup truck in the
[31:52]
world, the F-150. We root for the Lions
[31:54]
on Sunday and the Tigers when they play.
[31:57]
We love America, but to question our
[31:59]
Americanness and how much we will defend
[32:01]
and die for this country when we have
[32:03]
service members up on that dis when we
[32:05]
have service members in our military is
[32:07]
unacceptable. Take the time and learn
[32:09]
about your neighbors. Don't follow the
[32:10]
clickbait. Don't follow the attention.
[32:12]
Don't follow these paid agitators paid
[32:16]
by Donald Trump and the Republican
[32:18]
party. Paid to preach hate and divide
[32:21]
neighbors cuz they got an election that
[32:23]
they're going to get sent packing in.
[32:25]
[clears throat]
[32:27]
» [applause]
[32:35]
» Thank you. Next speaker we have is
[32:38]
uh Mike Dean.
[32:54]
Thank you, distinguished councilmen and
[32:58]
mayor. I just want to start out by
[33:00]
saying the measure of a man isn't how
[33:02]
loud he can shout, especially when he's
[33:05]
shouting out nonsense because even a
[33:06]
donkey can shout really loud, but at the
[33:09]
end of the day, he's still just a
[33:10]
donkey. So, I just have one thing that I
[33:13]
would like to say in regards to Jake
[33:15]
Lang and Pastor Lorenzo. First, let's
[33:18]
start with Lorenzo. He gave a very
[33:20]
eloquent impassioned speech that didn't
[33:23]
make any sense because he said that the
[33:25]
poor black people of Dearborn for which
[33:28]
he does not represent because he doesn't
[33:30]
live here. His church is not here are
[33:33]
oppressed by Arabs doing well in this
[33:36]
community. Well, I'm not even from this
[33:37]
community. I came here today. I have
[33:40]
ventured all throughout this entire
[33:41]
community. And you know what I didn't
[33:43]
see? I didn't see any signs that said
[33:46]
Arabs only or whites only. I seen black
[33:50]
business owners. I seen black people
[33:52]
driving nice cars in this city. And I
[33:55]
just have one thing to say to you. Since
[33:57]
you're so obsessed with gas stations,
[33:58]
Pastor Lorenzo, why don't you take some
[34:00]
of that Israeli money and buy a gas
[34:02]
station and give it to YOUR BLACK
[34:04]
NEIGHBOR? HOW ABOUT THAT? [applause]
[34:09]
NOW I have one other thing that I need
[34:10]
to say here and that is when it comes to
[34:13]
Jake Lang, Jake Lang loves to proclaim
[34:17]
that he is a crusader against Muslims.
[34:20]
Jake Lang loves to wear timu armor
[34:23]
without any plates in him to pretend
[34:25]
that he's a soldier when he never served
[34:28]
in the United States military. Jake Lang
[34:31]
is such a tough guy. Then I have a
[34:34]
suggestion for the council to take into
[34:36]
consideration. I'm from Las Vegas. Go
[34:38]
Raiders, by the way. I feel sorry for
[34:40]
your Detroit Lions cuz we're going to be
[34:42]
better this year. With that being said,
[34:45]
since Jake Lang loves Dearborn so much,
[34:47]
I challenge him to face me in the ring
[34:50]
in 90 days right here in Dearbornne,
[34:53]
Michigan, WHERE WE CAN SELL TICKETS that
[34:55]
will benefit the city of Dearbornne. And
[34:59]
if he wants TO PUT HANDS ON a Muslim,
[35:02]
let him do it to me. A white redblooded
[35:06]
American Muslim. That's all I got to
[35:08]
say. Jake Lang, I know you can hear me.
[35:11]
And if you can't, I know you'll see my
[35:13]
video cuz you follow me.
[35:16]
[applause]
[35:20]
» All right.
[35:22]
Okay. Uh, next we have Mr.
[35:24]
Scott.
[35:31]
He gave me this. Is there a Mr. Scott?
[35:36]
>> Jackie, take this back.
[35:40]
» Is he sir? Sir, hold on. Go to the
[35:44]
officer. Show them your identification
[35:45]
that your name is Scott. Mr. Scott.
[35:48]
>> Okay. You sit back in your seat or we'll
[35:50]
have you removed.
[35:52]
>> Which one you want?
[35:55]
>> All right.
[35:58]
Sir, sir, if you if you filled out a
[36:04]
card, you'll have your opportunity. If
[36:05]
not, have a seat, sir. Okay. Or you can
[36:06]
leave. All right. We have uh Robert
[36:09]
Pollowski. Yes, sir.
[36:15]
Yeah, there is a path here. Yeah. Or you
[36:16]
can come this way. Whatever's easiest
[36:18]
for you, sir.
[36:26]
Thank you, council. My fellow neighbors,
[36:29]
my name is Robert Plowski. I am from
[36:31]
Southgate, born and raised in Wayne
[36:33]
County, Michigan. I am not 10 minutes
[36:35]
from Dearborn. I am close to Dearbornne.
[36:37]
I spend my money, resources, and support
[36:39]
our community. And I stand in solidarity
[36:42]
with all of our residents, elected
[36:44]
officials, mayor, and city council. This
[36:47]
city is a beacon of hope. You have an
[36:50]
amazing administration all the way from
[36:52]
Mayor Hammud to our city council
[36:54]
president Sereni and our wonderful chief
[36:56]
of police Issa Shaheen. It would be my
[36:58]
dream to have leadership like you in my
[37:01]
community. But most of all, we are the
[37:03]
future. We built the F-150. We're home
[37:06]
to Ford. But most of all, we are home to
[37:08]
a community of diverse people. We have
[37:10]
the most diverse smart bus lines here in
[37:12]
our community that transport people back
[37:14]
and forth from downtown to the airport.
[37:16]
Two, we have the best food in the entire
[37:19]
United States of America.
[37:21]
>> And three, we have the amazing group of
[37:24]
people that are working class just like
[37:27]
us. And if Jake Land can see me, which I
[37:29]
know he will watch this video, be scared
[37:32]
because us Americans, we are the future
[37:35]
and we are not going anywhere. So speak
[37:37]
up. Speak your heart. But most of all,
[37:40]
no hate is allowed here and solidarity
[37:43]
with you all. But don't forget that
[37:45]
Dearbornne is the future. May God bless
[37:48]
America and God bless United States of
[37:51]
America and Dearbornne.
[37:54]
[applause and cheering]
[38:07]
» Okay, we have time for one more which is
[38:09]
Ronald Dwire.
[38:12]
>> Sure. Yes, sir. Thank you. Of course,
[38:24]
» dear esteemed council and mayor.
[38:29]
>> Okay.
[38:31]
All right.
[38:36]
» Okay.
[38:40]
» All right, folks. Folks, we have a
[38:42]
speaker ready to speak.
[38:46]
» Okay.
[38:47]
>> All right. Let the officers just make
[38:49]
sure they go out and then if there's
[38:51]
people now that we have room for others
[38:52]
that may want to come in, please make
[38:54]
sure there's afforded the opportunity
[38:55]
for others to come in. There's probably
[38:57]
about 15 or 20 seats. All right, sir.
[39:00]
Sorry. I apologize.
[39:01]
>> That's okay. I guess I just didn't want
[39:02]
to hear the truth that I'm about to
[39:04]
unveil.
[39:04]
>> You may begin.
[39:05]
>> Thank you.
[39:06]
>> All right. Uh my name is Ronald Dwire.
[39:08]
I'm actually uh the president of
[39:10]
American uh Council for Interfaith and
[39:14]
Cultural Relations. My organization
[39:16]
works with Christians and Muslims
[39:18]
bringing them together. We also work
[39:19]
with Native Americans and people of
[39:21]
other faiths. That being said, I was
[39:23]
involved in kind of what brought up this
[39:25]
brewhaha on August 2nd. I worked with uh
[39:28]
Shik Hasham who uh we put together the
[39:32]
Arbine Festival which is the festival
[39:35]
that honors Imam Hussein. And the reason
[39:38]
I got involved, I'm I'm an Irish
[39:39]
Catholic. Reason I got involved is
[39:41]
there's a lot of mixing between
[39:43]
Christians and Muslims throughout
[39:45]
history. In fact, if you study Imm
[39:48]
Hussein's story, he was a he was a hero
[39:50]
that stood up against an evil caliphate
[39:52]
and uh gave up all riches and defended
[39:56]
truth and honor and lost his life
[39:58]
because of it. That's what everybody was
[40:01]
celebrating. They honored this man every
[40:03]
year annually. And I was proud to be a
[40:06]
part of this event now through my
[40:08]
organization bringing Christians and
[40:10]
Muslims together. And I want to say
[40:12]
something, pastor. Oh, I see you left. I
[40:15]
guess he couldn't handle the truth
[40:16]
either. You know, you know, he he's got
[40:19]
a church of 12 people, so do do a little
[40:22]
research on him. He kind of stole the church from the previous uh
[40:26]
congregation. But anyways, uh I what I'm
[40:30]
saying is there's a lot of mixing
[40:31]
between Christians and Muslims. Muslims
[40:34]
believe a lot of the same things
[40:36]
Christians do. They believe in Jesus as
[40:38]
the Messiah, born of the Virgin Mary,
[40:41]
and that he will come again at the end
[40:44]
of time. Uh Mary is honored like uh
[40:47]
councilman or commissioner Bun said Mary
[40:50]
is mentioned in the chapter in the Quran
[40:54]
there's a lot of mixing a lot of mixing
[40:56]
Muslims and Christians if people just
[40:58]
started studying and and and getting to
[41:00]
know one another you would see that we
[41:03]
are a lot alike okay we have maybe a few
[41:05]
little differences in beliefs but
[41:08]
truthfully we have a lot more in common
[41:10]
than we do in difference and I want to
[41:12]
say another thing too even though I'm
[41:14]
part of internet interfaith organization
[41:16]
that I am president of uh pastor
[41:19]
Sealwell and another person I don't mean
[41:22]
any disrespect but there are a split
[41:25]
just like there is in the Democrat party
[41:27]
there's a split in the Republican party
[41:29]
and the Republican party had nothing I'm
[41:31]
a Republican I serve on the 11th
[41:33]
congressional district had nothing to do
[41:35]
with this event in fact many of the vice
[41:37]
chairs came out and spoke out against
[41:39]
this they said this is not what we
[41:41]
wanted to hating.
[41:44]
>> I'm sorry.
[41:44]
>> You have 30 seconds.
[41:45]
>> Oh, 30 seconds. Okay. So, they I want
[41:47]
people to know that too that don't hate
[41:49]
every Republican. I don't hate every
[41:51]
Democrat. Look at I'm a Republican. Sam
[41:53]
Bun is a Democrat. I consider Sam a
[41:55]
friend. Look, I'm going to after I
[41:57]
finish this speech here, I'm going to
[41:59]
come down and shake uh Abdullah Hammud's
[42:01]
hand. Okay? You know what? He's got a
[42:03]
lot of unfair treatment. He got beaten
[42:06]
up because he chastised a guy that has
[42:09]
been a known
[42:10]
>> I'm sorry your time has expired.
[42:12]
>> Okay. Thank you, sir. Got to shake your
[42:14]
hand. [applause]
[42:23]
» After after Ron you got it. Yeah. Just
[42:25]
have a seat there. Thank you. All right.
[42:26]
At this time, we have completed our 30
[42:29]
minutes. Mr. Clerk, is that correct?
[42:30]
>> Yes.
[42:31]
>> Okay. the council rules um completed our
[42:33]
first council uh public speaking uh
[42:37]
opportunity. There'll be another one at
[42:38]
the end of the meeting once um we
[42:40]
complete our business agenda items.
[42:42]
Anyone here um curious to wait till the
[42:45]
end and then they will be called uh in
[42:47]
the cards we will call you after. Okay.
[42:49]
If you are leaving sir there's no
[42:51]
outburst. Okay. If you you have Connie
[42:55]
this gentleman has a question see if you
[42:56]
can help. They'll help you sir. Okay.
[42:58]
And um
[43:01]
uh just keep in mind if you are leaving
[43:03]
the auditorium just to try to do it in
[43:06]
an orderly manner. All right. At this
[43:08]
time before we move on to our consent
[43:10]
agenda, are there any uh items of which
[43:12]
any member would wish to remove from the
[43:15]
consent agenda and discuss individually?
[43:19]
>> All right. Hearing uh hearing none, Mr.
[43:20]
Clerk, can we proceed? Item number six
[43:23]
is a resolution in need of offer and
[43:25]
support approving all the items of the
[43:27]
consent.
[43:28]
>> Sorry, I didn't hear offered
[43:30]
>> Councilman Abraham.
[43:31]
>> Councilman Enos.
[43:32]
>> Enos. Okay. We have an offer by
[43:33]
Councilman Enos supported by Councilman
[43:35]
Robert Abraham.
[43:38]
>> All right. Uh, Mr. Clerk, can we have
[43:39]
the roll call?
[43:40]
>> Council President.
[43:41]
>> Yes, sir.
[43:42]
>> Mayor,
[43:43]
>> I just wanted Oh my god.
[43:45]
>> Yeah. I'm sorry. All right. Um, we do
[43:47]
have an offer in support
[43:50]
um for this item. We're gonna pause real
[43:52]
quick. Mayor, go ahead.
[43:54]
>> Uh, thank you so much. Um,
[43:57]
before we get into the agenda, I wanted
[43:59]
to take a moment just to offer some
[44:00]
reflections and some words over the
[44:02]
events that have unfolded.
[44:04]
And I actually would like to share
[44:08]
a story regarding a moment that happened
[44:10]
earlier today. Um, I was out on one of
[44:14]
our neighborhood walks. And for those
[44:15]
who follow me on social media or follow
[44:17]
the work of the city, we do many of
[44:18]
neighborhood walks week in and week out,
[44:20]
especially throughout the summer. It was
[44:22]
an ordinary morning in Dearborn, just
[44:23]
like any other day. Residents were
[44:25]
outside. We're talking about sidewalks
[44:27]
and tree stumps and property maintenance
[44:30]
issues, all the things that make up the
[44:33]
everyday work of building a city. And
[44:36]
while we were at the park, a group of
[44:38]
children walked up and amongst them was
[44:40]
a young boy, not older than six or
[44:43]
seven. and he looked at me and he asked
[44:47]
if the quote unquote crusaders that were
[44:50]
coming were coming to kill him.
[44:53]
And I paused. I I paused longer than I
[44:57]
probably should have, long enough for
[44:58]
the neighborhood police officer that was
[45:00]
with us to actually interject and to
[45:02]
assure the young child that he would be
[45:04]
safe, that he should go about his day
[45:05]
and enjoy the park like he would any
[45:07]
other day. I paused because I never
[45:10]
expected that question.
[45:12]
And as a father, I I haven't been able
[45:15]
to stop thinking about it.
[45:17]
Children that age should be thinking
[45:19]
about what game they're going to the
[45:21]
park to play.
[45:23]
They should be thinking about whether
[45:24]
they can have another scoop of ice cream
[45:26]
at the end of the night. They should be
[45:28]
wondering if they'll get an extra hour
[45:30]
before time for bed. They should not be
[45:33]
wondering whether someone wants to kill
[45:34]
them because of how their family prays.
[45:38]
But our children are listening. They
[45:40]
hear our conversations. They see the
[45:42]
headlines and they notice when their
[45:44]
parents are worried. And that little boy
[45:47]
reminded me that what is happening
[45:48]
outside is not just political theater.
[45:52]
Fear has consequences.
[45:55]
So tonight, I want to speak directly to
[45:57]
him. And I want to speak to every
[45:59]
resident of Dearbornne who has felt that
[46:01]
fear. I want to boldly say that you
[46:05]
belong here. That you belong here as
[46:07]
much as anyone else. And generations of
[46:10]
people who built this city prove it.
[46:13]
Dearbornne was built by people with
[46:15]
different names, different accents,
[46:17]
different traditions, and different ways
[46:19]
of worshiping God. Some traced their
[46:22]
roots here generations. Others arrived
[46:24]
with little more than a suitcase and
[46:26]
hope. They worked the assembly lines.
[46:29]
They opened small businesses. They
[46:31]
taught our children. They have served
[46:33]
our country. They built houses of
[46:35]
worship. They built homes next to people
[46:38]
who did not look like them. And
[46:39]
somewhere along the way, strangers
[46:41]
became neighbors. They shared a meal
[46:43]
across the fence line. That is
[46:45]
Dearbornne. And that is the story of
[46:48]
America.
[46:49]
Yesterday, I stood alongside Christian
[46:51]
clergy from across our city. People
[46:54]
whose theological traditions may be
[46:56]
different, but whose message yesterday
[46:58]
was remarkably similar. Love thy
[47:00]
neighbor. Care for the vulnerable. Feed
[47:03]
the hungry. Welcome the st the stranger.
[47:07]
and stand against hatred. Dearborn is
[47:10]
home to more than 30 churches and
[47:12]
roughly a dozen mosques. And each and
[47:14]
every single week, tens of thousands of
[47:16]
people walk through those doors to
[47:18]
participate with their congregations.
[47:20]
They may pray differently, but they pray
[47:23]
for many of the same things. for their
[47:25]
children to be safe, for their families
[47:28]
to be healthy, for peace, for justice,
[47:32]
for dignity, for the strength to leave
[47:35]
this world a little better than they
[47:37]
inherited it. So when people portray
[47:40]
Dearbornne as some place that have been
[47:41]
overtaken by Muslims, they aren't simply
[47:44]
attacking our Muslim and Arab
[47:45]
communities. They're also trying to
[47:47]
erase our Christian brothers and sisters
[47:49]
who have contributed immeasurably to the
[47:51]
city and folks of other faith of other
[47:54]
backgrounds or of no faith at all who
[47:56]
have all contributed to the Dearborn
[47:58]
that we all love and cherish today. And
[48:00]
ultimately they're attacking something
[48:02]
much larger than any one faith or
[48:04]
community. They are attacking the idea
[48:07]
that all of us can belong to America at
[48:10]
the same time.
[48:11]
There are people outside tonight whose
[48:14]
idea of America is much smaller than
[48:16]
ours. An America where belonging comes
[48:19]
with conditions. Where your name
[48:21]
matters. Where your ancestry matters.
[48:24]
Where the direction which you pray
[48:25]
somehow determines whether you are
[48:27]
sufficiently American. I reject that
[48:29]
vision for our country. Because what
[48:32]
matters is not the articles of your
[48:34]
faith. What matters is the content of
[48:36]
your character, the kindness in your
[48:38]
heart. Do you provide for your family?
[48:41]
Do you check in on your neighbor? Do you
[48:44]
help someone when they're struggling?
[48:46]
And do you leave your community better
[48:47]
than how you found it? Those are the
[48:49]
things by which we should measure one
[48:51]
another. I've always believed that there
[48:54]
is something exceptional about the
[48:56]
American experiment. Not because
[48:58]
Americans are inherently better than
[49:00]
anybody else, but because of the
[49:02]
audacity of the promise that we have all
[49:04]
made to one another. that people could
[49:06]
come here from every corner of the earth
[49:09]
carrying different stories and
[49:10]
traditions, worshiping God differently
[49:13]
or not at all and somehow build one
[49:16]
country together.
[49:17]
That promise has never been perfectly
[49:19]
fulfilled. But every generation has had
[49:22]
to fight to make it more real. And now
[49:24]
it is our turn to carry on that fight.
[49:27]
Tonight, the choice before us is
[49:30]
actually quite simple. We can allow fear
[49:33]
to make our lives smaller or we can
[49:36]
allow community to make us stronger.
[49:39]
I know some families are afraid right
[49:41]
now. Many families have reached out and
[49:43]
told me how they have changed their
[49:44]
plans for the day. Practices for youth
[49:48]
football has been cancelled. My daughter
[49:50]
was not taken to daycare today. Some
[49:53]
parents kept their children at home who
[49:55]
wanted them a little closer. Some
[49:57]
residents decided not to open up their
[49:58]
business stores today because of the
[50:00]
events unfolding. And I understand that
[50:02]
instinct. But we cannot surrender our
[50:05]
everyday lives to someone else's hatred.
[50:08]
Our police officers are doing their
[50:10]
jobs. I will do my job. This council
[50:13]
will do its job. They are protecting
[50:15]
this community and protecting the
[50:17]
constitutional rights of everyone in it.
[50:19]
So let them do their job. And you live
[50:22]
your life. Let the kids chase each other
[50:25]
at the splash pad. Play another game of
[50:27]
soccer. Grab coffee with a friend. Fire
[50:30]
up that grill and open up your business
[50:31]
tomorrow morning. Sit on the porch with
[50:34]
your neighbor. Break bread and share in
[50:36]
that meal. Visit your parents. Go to
[50:38]
church on Sunday. Go to the synagogue on
[50:41]
Saturday. Go to the mosque on Friday. Or
[50:43]
sit at home. Pray exactly as you have
[50:46]
always prayed. Don't bother changing for
[50:49]
anyone because the greatest victory we
[50:51]
can hand those who seek to divide us
[50:53]
would be allowing them to convince us to
[50:55]
be afraid of being ourselves. and we
[50:58]
will not give them that victory.
[51:00]
Instead, we're going to do what Dearborn
[51:02]
has always done. We're going to keep
[51:04]
opening our doors because one of the
[51:07]
most powerful antidotes to fear is
[51:09]
simply knowing one another. I've met
[51:11]
people over the years who have come to
[51:13]
Dearbornne genuinely nervous. They have
[51:16]
watched something on television. They've
[51:18]
read something online or followed some
[51:20]
of the comedians that were here earlier,
[51:22]
heard someone describe the city as a
[51:24]
place that they should fear. And then
[51:25]
they came here. They walked our
[51:27]
neighborhoods. They met our residents.
[51:30]
Someone welcomed them welcomed them into
[51:32]
their businesses. Someone started the
[51:34]
conference. And ultimately, as is the
[51:36]
tradition in Dearborn, put a meal in
[51:38]
front of them. And somewhere between
[51:40]
that first handshake and the last bite
[51:41]
of that meal, something changed. The
[51:44]
caricature of who we are disappeared and
[51:47]
dissipated because a stranger became a
[51:51]
person. and fear gave away to
[51:53]
understanding because hatred needs
[51:56]
distance.
[51:58]
It needs us to remain strangers.
[52:01]
Community closes that distance. So to
[52:03]
anyone watching tonight who doesn't know
[52:05]
Dearbornne but thinks they know
[52:07]
Dearbornne, I have an invitation for
[52:09]
you. Come visit us. Come experience this
[52:13]
city and come experience this community.
[52:15]
And most importantly, come break bread
[52:16]
with us. Ask questions. Tell us your
[52:19]
story and listen to ours. Our doors are
[52:23]
open. Our table as h has room because
[52:26]
the longer the table, the stronger the
[52:28]
table. Dearbornne welcomes everybody and
[52:31]
that will not change under our watch.
[52:33]
And to that little boy that I met this
[52:35]
morning, I want you to go be a kid.
[52:39]
Go play with your friends. Laugh too
[52:41]
loudly. Get in trouble at home. Push the
[52:45]
time limit in which you have to come
[52:46]
back to the house.
[52:49]
Because the response to those who
[52:50]
believe America's promise should belong
[52:52]
to fewer people is not for us to retreat
[52:54]
into our homes or make ourselves
[52:56]
smaller. It is to demonstrate each and
[52:58]
every single day just how beautiful
[53:00]
America can be when that promise belongs
[53:02]
to each and every single one of us. This
[53:05]
is the Dearborn that we will protect and
[53:07]
that is the Dearborn that we will pass
[53:08]
on to generations and generations. God
[53:11]
bless this city. God bless the most
[53:13]
beautiful people I've ever met who
[53:15]
reside in the city, who patronize the
[53:17]
city, and God bless this country. Thank
[53:19]
you.
[53:21]
[applause]
[53:34]
All right. Thank you. Thank you, mayor.
[53:36]
[applause]
[53:38]
Thank Thank you, Mayor. Okay. Thank you,
[53:40]
mayor. Thank you.
[53:42]
All right. Uh, Mr. Mr. Clerk, you had an
[53:45]
offer in support on resolution number
[53:47]
six. Can we have a roll call vote,
[53:48]
please?
[53:49]
>> Council member O'Reilly,
[53:50]
>> yes.
[53:50]
>> Council member Enos,
[53:51]
>> yes.
[53:52]
>> Council member Paris,
[53:53]
>> yes.
[53:53]
>> Council member Abraham,
[53:55]
>> yes.
[53:55]
>> Council member Hammude,
[53:57]
>> Council Member Alawi,
[53:59]
>> Council President Sereni,
[54:01]
>> yes.
[54:02]
>> Seven yays. The resolution passes.
[54:05]
>> All right. Thank you, Mr. Clerk. Can we
[54:06]
have the next item of business?
[54:09]
We will move on to item number 31.
[54:12]
Resolution by council members Paris and
[54:14]
O'Reilly approving the minutes of the
[54:16]
previous special open meeting of July
[54:18]
22nd, 2026.
[54:21]
>> All right. Thank you, Mr. Mr. Clerk. Are
[54:23]
there any additions, deletions, or
[54:24]
modification to these minutes?
[54:27]
All right. Hearing and see none. Any
[54:29]
objection to unanimous role?
[54:32]
Unanimous ro shall be attached. Next
[54:33]
item.
[54:33]
>> Item 32. Resolution by council members
[54:35]
O'Reilly and Paris approving the minutes
[54:37]
of the previous regular meeting of July
[54:39]
14th, 2026.
[54:41]
Um, open meeting, I'm sorry, the
[54:45]
previous regular meeting of July 26th.
[54:48]
>> All right. Thank you, Mr. Clerk. Are
[54:49]
there any additions, deletions, or
[54:50]
modification to these minutes?
[54:52]
Any objection to unanimous role?
[54:55]
The unanimous ro should be attached.
[54:57]
Next item.
[54:57]
>> Item 33 is an ordinance on the table.
[54:59]
Ordinance number 26-1870,
[55:01]
an ordinance to amend the zoning
[55:03]
ordinance of the city of Dearborn by
[55:05]
amending article 18 entitled 1A light
[55:07]
industrial district and article 22
[55:10]
entitled TR Technology and Research
[55:12]
District resolution by council members
[55:14]
Alswafi and O'Reilly to take from the
[55:16]
table for its final reading. All right,
[55:18]
thank you Mr. Clerk and Nashville should
[55:19]
be attached to take from table for its
[55:21]
final reading. The planning and zoning division is
[55:25]
proposing an amendment uh to the city of
[55:27]
Dearborn zoning ordinance regarding the
[55:29]
use of classification of data
[55:31]
processing. Uh due to the rapid
[55:33]
technology advancements, modern data
[55:34]
centers have evolved into high density
[55:36]
and intense industrial facilities that
[55:39]
are no longer compatible with the way
[55:41]
data processing is currently classified
[55:43]
in our zoning ordinance. As presently
[55:45]
written, these uh these facilities may
[55:47]
be permitted under uh under the existing
[55:50]
data processing use classification
[55:51]
despite their large scale uh site design
[55:54]
and potential impacts of surrounding
[55:55]
properties which are inconsistent with
[55:57]
the purpose of the intent of the city
[55:59]
zoning regulations. The proposed
[56:00]
amendment updates the zoning ordinance
[56:03]

[1:15:01]
>> Uh yes. Question for live. This is an

appointment, sir. And
[1:15:06]
>> Yes, sir. Okay. If you can, you could
[1:15:07]
step to the microphone. You'll be you'll
[1:15:08]
be able to address it. Yes, sir. You
[1:15:11]
there's a little corridor here, sir. If
[1:15:12]
you if you like, you could get through
[1:15:14]
there.
[1:15:19]
» Right where the officers, there's a

microphone. Sir,
[1:15:26]
» what safeguards require library

rather than favoring or suppressing

>> Uh Mr. President. No further items on

[1:16:08]
>> All right.
[1:16:10]
I have just a couple for
[1:16:11]
myself. Um I just wanted to recognize
[1:16:14]
some outstanding achievements in our
[1:16:16]
community
[1:16:18]
um this last few months, and they happen
[1:16:20]
to be all women, which is always a great
[1:16:23]
thing. Uh Zana Alh Hassan, a personal
[1:16:25]
friend and a tremendous um individual
[1:16:27]
who's also on our planning commission,
[1:16:30]
was elected vice president of the Kresge
[1:16:32]
Foundation, and we wanted to recognize
[1:16:34]
that for her. It's a tremendous, event.
[1:16:41]
All right. Thank you. Uh in for our uh
[1:16:44]
community access, uh we have a
[1:16:47]
retirement by Mrs. Mah over 35 years. If
[1:16:50]
some of you guys ever watch a YouTube
[1:16:52]
video, you'll see her as a very very
[1:16:54]
young lady uh when access began in the
[1:16:56]
south end of Dearbornne uh in the late
[1:17:00]
70s. Uh 35 years she is retiring. We
[1:17:02]
like and to be said her dream um and
[1:17:06]
fulfillment which hopefully will be
[1:17:07]
coming at the end of this month or next
[1:17:09]
month. new access treatment, drug and
[1:17:11]
rehabilitation treatment center in our
[1:17:12]
city of Dearborn on Michigan Avenue in
[1:17:15]
the east Dearborn side near Wyoming uh
[1:17:17]
will be realized because of her um her
[1:17:19]
tremendous work. I'd like to also
[1:17:21]
recognize Lena Haraji, a personal friend
[1:17:24]
of mine, classmate uh that is taking
[1:17:26]
over as the next CEO. Uh she has been
[1:17:28]
working with Access for at least 15 to
[1:17:30]
20 years. Tremendous job. Um it's great
[1:17:33]
to see organizations that have planned
[1:17:35]
secessions and and have a real plan. and
[1:17:37]
they're doing tremendous work at access
[1:17:38]
and would like to recognize both those
[1:17:40]
ladies. We also have one of our bright uh people
[1:17:48]
from our school systems, Mesa Ali Bazzy
[1:17:51]
um who was recently tooken from our
[1:17:53]
school system like many of them do and
[1:17:55]
to go to the state boards and she is
[1:17:57]
going to be ex being um appointed or
[1:18:00]
working been uh been appointed to work
[1:18:02]
as the chief deputy of the Michigan
[1:18:04]
Department of Education. is a tremendous
[1:18:05]
honor to have our school system people
[1:18:08]
uh continue to move up into the state
[1:18:11]
and it just shows you what uh kind of
[1:18:12]
work has been done in here in Dearmore.
[1:18:14]
So I'd like to make sure we recognize
[1:18:16]
that as well. Thank you.
[1:18:19]
Um
[1:18:22]
for um for myself for my colleagues,
[1:18:24]
anything from my colleagues before we
[1:18:25]
move on to the administration or mayor?
[1:18:29]
All right. Uh mayor, anything from the
[1:18:31]
administration?
[1:18:33]
Thank you, Mr. Clerk. anything from your
[1:18:34]
department?
[1:18:35]
>> I'm all set tonight. Thank you.
[1:18:36]
>> All right. Uh so now we will u move into
[1:18:39]
our final part which will be our public
[1:18:42]
speaking um duration. Just a kind
[1:18:44]
reminder, same rules follow. We have
[1:18:46]
several cards here. I do know that there
[1:18:48]
might been some people that may have uh
[1:18:50]
exited. So I will give a little bit of
[1:18:52]
time to make sure that no one is outside
[1:18:55]
or can we make the assumption that
[1:18:56]
they're all inside that want to speak
[1:18:58]
since there's space?
[1:19:01]
>> Okay. Thank you, Chief. All right. Okay.
[1:19:03]
First we have Mr. Muhammad Saab.
[1:19:06]
So just kind reminder it's back there.
[1:19:08]
Yep.
[1:19:19]
» Good evening everybody. My name is
[1:19:21]
Muhammad Sab. I'm a student at Wayne
[1:19:22]
State University in the College of
[1:19:24]
Engineering just down the road from
[1:19:25]
here. After tonight, Dearbornne will
[1:19:28]
once again go viral. The clips of us in
[1:19:30]
our city are already being cut, and once
[1:19:32]
again, our city will be shown to
[1:19:33]
millions of people who have never set a
[1:19:35]
foot in it. While the eyes of the
[1:19:36]
country are on us, I'd rather they see
[1:19:38]
something positive than what those
[1:19:40]
filled with hate brought them here to
[1:19:41]
see. Dearborn is a city full of
[1:19:43]
remarkable people. We have doctors,
[1:19:45]
lawyers, engineers, business owners,
[1:19:47]
tradesmen, and families who put each
[1:19:49]
other first. If you are looking for
[1:19:51]
proof of the American dream, you do not
[1:19:52]
have to look past the city of Dearorn.
[1:19:55]
Understand what these men are. They are
[1:19:57]
not activists and they are not
[1:19:58]
preachers. They are merchants whose only
[1:20:01]
good to sell is fear.
[1:20:03]
It's a cheap product and it contains an
[1:20:05]
enormous margin. It requires no
[1:20:08]
evidence, no argument and no
[1:20:09]
acquaintance whatsoever with the person
[1:20:10]
whom it's sold against. And it asks of
[1:20:12]
you only one thing that you look at a
[1:20:14]
neighbor and you agree to see a
[1:20:16]
stranger. While we are busy buying fear
[1:20:18]
from these men, nobody's asking why a
[1:20:20]
family working hard cannot afford a home
[1:20:22]
or a doctor. Let me leave you with this
[1:20:24]
one statement. In a republic, the power
[1:20:27]
does not descend from a throne. It rises
[1:20:29]
from us, the people. That is the whole
[1:20:31]
of our strength, but it is also exactly
[1:20:32]
our weakness. Because a people who can
[1:20:34]
be persuaded can also just as easil
[1:20:35]
easily be deceived. Every lie that a
[1:20:38]
nation accepts for long enough becomes
[1:20:40]
the law that it lives under. Our defense
[1:20:42]
here in Dearbornne has never been anger,
[1:20:43]
nor has it ever been silence. It's been
[1:20:45]
education. Learn a thing before you
[1:20:47]
repeat it. Meet a person before you fear
[1:20:49]
them. And judge men and women by their
[1:20:50]
character, because that is the only
[1:20:52]
measure that has been and ever will be
[1:20:53]
fair. Hate is loud, but it's fragile. It
[1:20:56]
survives only when nobody bothers to
[1:20:57]
check where it comes from. Thank you.
[1:20:59]
Have a good night, everybody.
[1:21:00]
>> Thank you.
[1:21:02]
[applause]
[1:21:05]
» Okay, we have Muhammad Ali Bas.
[1:21:10]
>> Thank you.
[1:21:28]
Thank [clears throat] you everyone for
[1:21:30]
uh allowing me to speak. Thank you to
[1:21:32]
the city council and to Mayor Hammud for
[1:21:34]
everything he does for our great city.
[1:21:36]
As you can hear, my voice is raspy
[1:21:37]
because I was out there protesting
[1:21:38]
against agitators and unamericans who
[1:21:41]
come to Dearborn and spread fear.
[1:21:44]
This [clears throat] country was believe
[1:21:45]
was founded on the belief of freedom of
[1:21:47]
religious sorry. This country was
[1:21:50]
founded on the belief of freedom from
[1:21:52]
religious persecution like liberty and
[1:21:53]
the pursuit of happiness in which our
[1:21:55]
country was founded on and Dearborn as
[1:21:57]
the epide epitome of what America is
[1:21:59]
when it was America when it was America
[1:22:02]
that was attacked in Pearl Harbor. It
[1:22:04]
was the ArabAmerican population that
[1:22:05]
picked up the racks that jobs that
[1:22:08]
fought against fascism that fought
[1:22:10]
against fascists in Nazi Germany.
[1:22:13]
Though defeated in 1945, fascism hasn't
[1:22:16]
been rooted out and it's very evident
[1:22:18]
today. our people aren't any less
[1:22:20]
American than the next. So why is it
[1:22:22]
that these fascists come to Dearbornne,
[1:22:24]
preach on Sharia law while being the
[1:22:26]
same group that has invalidated the the
[1:22:28]
democratic processes and attempted to
[1:22:30]
storm the capital of the United States
[1:22:32]
in which we each contribute to our
[1:22:34]
country, to our nation, to its culture,
[1:22:36]
to its history, to its promises. Our
[1:22:38]
people refused to take a moral lashing
[1:22:40]
from people who wave the Nazi flags.
[1:22:42]
Americans died to fight off and against.
[1:22:45]
From people who voted to a man who
[1:22:48]
bombed a Iranian school girl, killing
[1:22:51]
over 10 girls. From Epsteiners and
[1:22:54]
January 6ers, our country, our city, our
[1:22:57]
county won't bow down to people who wish
[1:23:00]
to spread fear. Our country is built
[1:23:03]
upon the promise of America. And like
[1:23:06]
everyone here who has spoken, this is
[1:23:08]
what the promise of America is. cultural
[1:23:11]
acceptance, freedom, the pursuit of
[1:23:14]
happiness and religion. We won't be
[1:23:17]
religiously persecuted, and we won't be
[1:23:19]
made out to be victims, even if we are
[1:23:22]
the target of the United States. God
[1:23:24]
bless the United States, and God bless
[1:23:26]
the city of Dearbornne.
[1:23:27]
>> Thank you. Thank you,
[1:23:32]
Mr. Ab. Best Halloween.
[1:23:38]
» [applause]
[1:23:41]
» Thank you, Council President Serini. Uh,
[1:23:43]
thank you to members of the council to
[1:23:45]
Mayor Hammud.
[1:23:48]
I just feel so proud of Dearbornne
[1:23:50]
today.
[1:23:53]
I'm so proud of our leadership.
[1:23:56]
I'm proud. I'm so proud of every single
[1:23:59]
family out there
[1:24:01]
that is keeping its head down and just
[1:24:04]
going about our lives like we always
[1:24:07]
have.
[1:24:09]
I'm especially proud of all the kids out
[1:24:12]
there. And I want to we don't have kids
[1:24:15]
in the room, thank God, but I want to
[1:24:18]
speak just to the kids in Dearbornne
[1:24:21]
today.
[1:24:23]
My friends,
[1:24:25]
I know it's a scary time.
[1:24:29]
I was a kid once here in Dearbornne and
[1:24:32]
felt really scared because there was
[1:24:34]
this thing that was happening. There was
[1:24:36]
a guy who kept showing up in the city
[1:24:39]
and he was obsessed. It seemed like he
[1:24:41]
was obsessed with Dearborn. He kept
[1:24:42]
burning a Quran for some reason and it
[1:24:45]
made me feel very scared.
[1:24:48]
But the advice that I got from my mom
[1:24:51]
and my dad and my sister was that here
[1:24:54]
in Dearbornne, some people come and go.
[1:24:58]
But those folks, especially the ones
[1:25:00]
that are trying to divide us, they don't
[1:25:02]
know us. They don't live here. We live
[1:25:04]
here. They will come and go and we will
[1:25:09]
remain.
[1:25:10]
The beauty of Dearbornne, the strength
[1:25:13]
of Dearborn, the strength of our region
[1:25:16]
here in southeastern Michigan is our
[1:25:19]
diversity.
[1:25:20]
I kept my head down.
[1:25:23]
I ended up growing up and working at the
[1:25:26]
highest levels of our government. One
[1:25:28]
day I was working in the United States
[1:25:30]
capital and there was a small group of
[1:25:33]
people who had a very narrow idea of
[1:25:36]
what America is and who belongs in
[1:25:39]
America that came.
[1:25:41]
You might read about it at school. It
[1:25:43]
was on January 6th of 2021.
[1:25:46]
I was inside the capital working for a
[1:25:48]
member of Congress defending our
[1:25:51]
democracy, trying to certify an election
[1:25:53]
on that day. And there was a small group
[1:25:55]
of people that didn't want our democracy
[1:25:58]
to survive. They wanted to promote the
[1:26:00]
politics of division. One of those
[1:26:02]
people is the same guy who now is
[1:26:05]
showing up to Dearborn trying to say
[1:26:08]
that he's against just one religion. The
[1:26:10]
reality is that guy and a whole lot of
[1:26:14]
people like him,
[1:26:14]
>> you have 30 seconds remaining.
[1:26:16]
>> It's actually a very small number of
[1:26:18]
people.
[1:26:19]
>> They're not attacking a religion.
[1:26:21]
They're attacking an idea of America
[1:26:22]
that includes all of us. And so when
[1:26:25]
this guy and this distraction comes and
[1:26:27]
goes, we will be here and you will grow
[1:26:30]
up to continue strengthening one of the
[1:26:33]
most beautiful cities in the world
[1:26:34]
that's led by incredible people like our
[1:26:37]
mayor who I'm so proud of. Thank you,
[1:26:39]
Mr. Mayor, for your leadership today. It
[1:26:42]
really means a lot to me.
[1:26:44]
>> I'm sorry your time has expired.
[1:26:46]
>> Thank you, Aman Alansi.
[1:26:58]
Good evening, Mr. Mayor, members of the
[1:27:00]
C council. Uh, my name is Al Ani. I am a
[1:27:04]
lifelong resident of the city. Nine
[1:27:06]
months ago, I stood at the same
[1:27:07]
microphone on a day when two very
[1:27:09]
different visitors came to Dearbornne.
[1:27:12]
One came carrying every fear the
[1:27:14]
internet had sold him. He walked our
[1:27:16]
streets. He sat in our mosques. He spoke
[1:27:18]
with our neighbors. and he left the city
[1:27:20]
a changed man. He admitted out loud what
[1:27:23]
few are brave enough to say that he had
[1:27:26]
been lied to. In place of the danger he
[1:27:29]
was promised, he found hospital uh
[1:27:31]
hospitality.
[1:27:32]
He found dignity and he found a people
[1:27:34]
who treat a a stranger as if he he was
[1:27:37]
already a neighbor. The other group came
[1:27:40]
for none of that. They came to shout.
[1:27:42]
They came to film. They came to be seen.
[1:27:45]
And to them I said then and I'll say it
[1:27:47]
again tonight. Our table is still set.
[1:27:50]
There is a seat for you. There is a
[1:27:52]
plate of shawarma, a glass of Yemeni
[1:27:54]
tea. You don't know, you don't have to
[1:27:56]
agree with a single thing we believe to
[1:27:57]
break bread with us. And the invitation
[1:28:00]
still stands even tonight, even as
[1:28:02]
another so-called crusade is organized
[1:28:04]
at our doorstep. But some of the people
[1:28:07]
whom who most need to hear this these
[1:28:09]
words will never walk into this chamber.
[1:28:11]
So So tonight, let me speak past this
[1:28:13]
room to those who hold real power over
[1:28:15]
what happens next in 2024. I endorsed
[1:28:18]
Donald Trump for president. I was wrong.
[1:28:20]
I have never hidden it. I said so
[1:28:22]
plainly then and I'll say it again now
[1:28:23]
in front of my neighbors. I let my grief
[1:28:26]
over Gaza lead me to a decision I
[1:28:28]
regret. I own that mistake and because I
[1:28:30]
own it, I have earned the right to say
[1:28:32]
what comes next. Mr. President, the man
[1:28:35]
leading this march walks free because of
[1:28:37]
you. Your pardon gave him back his
[1:28:39]
liberty. And he has chosen to spend that
[1:28:41]
liberty targeting target targeting a
[1:28:43]
city whose own voters helped return you
[1:28:45]
to office. We did not come to you out of
[1:28:47]
blind loyalty. We came because we were
[1:28:50]
tired. Tired of the two parties that
[1:28:52]
seemed to answer to the same distant
[1:28:54]
interests. You asked for our trust. We
[1:28:57]
gave it. And in our hour of need, you've
[1:28:59]
given us silence. One sentence from you
[1:29:02]
would end this. Condemn the march. When
[1:29:05]
a Muslim nation gave you a gift of a
[1:29:07]
plane, there was no out outrage. But
[1:29:09]
when the same community asked only to be
[1:29:11]
left in peace in its own hometown, your
[1:29:13]
silence is louder than any bullhorn on
[1:29:15]
the streets. And to the Republicans who
[1:29:18]
just won their primaries, John James,
[1:29:19]
Mike Rogers, and the rest of the ticket,
[1:29:21]
I have a word for you, too. You want to
[1:29:23]
govern the state, you want to carry
[1:29:25]
Michigan's voice to Washington, then
[1:29:26]
hear me clearly. Dearborn is Michigan.
[1:29:29]
If you are the tireless workers you
[1:29:31]
claim to be on the campaign trail, 30
[1:29:32]
seconds remaining, then work for the
[1:29:33]
people of this country, not for the
[1:29:35]
spread of Islamophobia, not at the
[1:29:36]
command of any foreign lobby. Thomas Massie has shown what a that a
[1:29:41]
Republican can put his nation first and
[1:29:43]
stand firm under pressure. If you cannot
[1:29:45]
bring yourself to say one plain sentence
[1:29:47]
that you do not want a crusade in
[1:29:48]
Michigan, then you already have told
[1:29:50]
every family in the city exactly how
[1:29:51]
little we are worth to you. Now, let me
[1:29:53]
be clear about the what the January 6th
[1:29:56]
convict and those marching behind them
[1:29:57]
are really after. They did not come here
[1:29:59]
for conversation. They came to provoke
[1:30:01]
us to film our reaction time
[1:30:03]
>> and to turn our anger into division into
[1:30:05]
and to carry our division home like a
[1:30:06]
trophy. Their whole livelihoods depend
[1:30:09]
on this moment. So let's refuse to give
[1:30:10]
it to them and to the young people
[1:30:12]
especially
[1:30:12]
>> Mr. Alman.
[1:30:13]
>> Yeah.
[1:30:14]
>> I'm sorry. Your time is expired. Okay.
[1:30:15]
>> Thank you.
[1:30:16]
>> All right.
[1:30:16]
>> The noise will pass. Dearborn will
[1:30:18]
remain and so will we.
[1:30:22]
>> I mean
[1:30:27]
uh Mr. Degan. Anthony Degan.
[1:30:44]
25 year Dearborn
[1:30:46]
resident. Um, I just want to say first
[1:30:48]
of all, on behalf of all the local
[1:30:50]
Christians here, um, we wish that Jake
[1:30:53]
Lang would never ever come back to the
[1:30:55]
city of Dearbornne. Um it is it was the
[1:30:58]
least Christian rally I've ever seen in
[1:30:59]
my life. Um and I also want to say that
[1:31:02]
uh it is true that uh there are quite a
[1:31:06]
number of peaceful beautiful Muslims in
[1:31:09]
the city of Dearbornne. Okay. So with
[1:31:11]
that said that does not come at the
[1:31:13]
expense that there is in fact a smaller
[1:31:16]
contingent of radical Muslims in the
[1:31:18]
city of Dearborn that are not being
[1:31:20]
dealt with. Okay. So the what happened
[1:31:23]
to Jake Lang, I I completely disagree
[1:31:26]
with everything the man stands for, but
[1:31:28]
what happened to him was appalling and
[1:31:32]
it should it should never happen. If the
[1:31:33]
roles were reversed, there would be 20
[1:31:35]
squad cars descending on that parking
[1:31:38]
lot immediately. And there were plenty
[1:31:39]
in the area. I'm asking for the
[1:31:42]
Department of Justice, the FBI, the
[1:31:44]
Attorney General, whomever, to look into
[1:31:47]
the city of Dearbornne's policing
[1:31:48]
policies, and to look into the politics
[1:31:50]
that take place because it's not just
[1:31:52]
Jake Lang. Cam Higgby was assaulted.
[1:31:55]
Nothing was done about it. Uh Nick
[1:31:57]
Shirley had somebody recorded somebody
[1:32:00]
saying they wanted to murder him and
[1:32:01]
nothing was done about it. Okay, the
[1:32:04]
mayor loves to talk about the pig's head
[1:32:05]
story. I was there at that event at the
[1:32:08]
festival when that man brought that pig
[1:32:10]
head. What the mayor does not talk about
[1:32:12]
is that there was a group of angry young
[1:32:14]
Muslim men who assaulted that man
[1:32:16]
bleeding profusely and the police
[1:32:19]
arrested that man instead of those
[1:32:21]
people. They didn't talk to any one of
[1:32:23]
those young people. They arrested that
[1:32:25]
man and said if he came back he would be
[1:32:27]
permanently arrested. I myself have had
[1:32:29]
rocks thrown at me. Called an F Agot
[1:32:33]
white
[1:32:35]
I went to the police to report it. They
[1:32:37]
said they they did everything they could
[1:32:38]
to talk me out of reporting that. They I
[1:32:41]
had to go do my own work, get my own
[1:32:43]
surveillance uh uh footage from the Tim
[1:32:46]
Hortons. The guy knew everybody in the
[1:32:48]
store. He knew the assistant manager and
[1:32:50]
yet nothing was done. All the online
[1:32:53]
threats that we talk about that I see
[1:32:55]
every week on TCD Dearorn about all the
[1:32:57]
threats that are being made against the
[1:32:59]
Islamic community. What about the
[1:33:00]
threats that are being made by the
[1:33:02]
Islamic community? I was I've had
[1:33:04]
threats made against me after I opposed
[1:33:07]
Israel divestment. It was there was two
[1:33:10]
of us in the room in an echo chamber
[1:33:12]
full of people who were angry at us
[1:33:14]
online afterwards. People were saying
[1:33:16]
give us the name of those seconds
[1:33:17]
remaining.
[1:33:18]
>> Uh uh let's October 7th these nuts and uh you know who who are they? Give
[1:33:25]
us their public information and nothing
[1:33:27]
was done about it. Your your
[1:33:28]
representative smiled at me
[1:33:30]
condescendingly when I brought it up.
[1:33:32]
Miss Council President Serini, you you
[1:33:34]
scoffed at the idea that nothing would
[1:33:36]
be done about it. I went there. Nothing
[1:33:38]
was done about it. The county prosecutor
[1:33:40]
refused to to prosecute it. Okay. So,
[1:33:43]
Dearborn has a serious problem with
[1:33:46]
radicalism. We have homegrown time
[1:33:49]
expired. Your time is expired. But I'm
[1:33:51]
going to address a couple things that
[1:33:52]
was uh not true. Did you hear what you
[1:33:54]
said or you want us to play it back to
[1:33:55]
you? The Wayne County prosecutor refused
[1:33:57]
to process something.
[1:33:58]
>> Mhm.
[1:33:59]
>> Do you have a law degree?
[1:34:03]
>> No, I don't.
[1:34:03]
>> That's the question. No, I don't. This
[1:34:05]
is not
[1:34:06]
>> I don't have a law. So, we're not
[1:34:07]
playing around, but I know how to read.
[1:34:08]
>> Okay. The Wayne County prosecutor does
[1:34:11]
not answer to the city of Dearbornne.
[1:34:13]
They are the lawyers and they fus refuse
[1:34:14]
to prosecute. Okay. So, that's your
[1:34:16]
answer on that.
[1:34:17]
>> In regarding to Mr. Lang being
[1:34:19]
assaulted, he was arrested fourth with
[1:34:22]
Let's get that out of the way because
[1:34:23]
there's a lot of lies about that. He was
[1:34:26]
arrested fourth with was detained by our
[1:34:28]
police department and he and the person
[1:34:31]
that was arrested and accused of this
[1:34:33]
crime was also taken into federal
[1:34:35]
custody.
[1:34:35]
>> I saw at least 10 to 20 assaults. I saw
[1:34:38]
at least 10 to 20 assaults.
[1:34:39]
>> Mr. Mr. Degan, you asked a question.
[1:34:41]
There was a gentleman. There was four
[1:34:43]
arrests. Okay? And if you like to find
[1:34:45]
out the information, go ahead and find
[1:34:46]
out information. But do not sit here and
[1:34:48]
tell the people that we are lawless and
[1:34:49]
we did not follow the law because that
[1:34:51]
is the furthest from the truth. The man
[1:34:53]
was arrested and he was detained and
[1:34:55]
he's being charged and he's actually to
[1:34:57]
taken into federal custody.
[1:34:58]
>> You're saying man singular, there was
[1:34:59]
men plural.
[1:35:01]
>> Uh Mr. Mr. Degan, as I indicated, there
[1:35:03]
was four arrests. You're more than
[1:35:04]
welcome to find out through the foyer
[1:35:06]
process on who they were arrested and
[1:35:07]
then how they were charges through the
[1:35:08]
court process. That's the process we
[1:35:10]
have in this country. You can't pick and
[1:35:12]
choose which one you want to have.
[1:35:14]
That's the process when we arrest
[1:35:15]
people. That's our job to arrest them.
[1:35:18]
The prosecution job is part of the next
[1:35:20]
stage. That's not our job. You continue
[1:35:22]
say stuff that's not true. I'm not going
[1:35:23]
to
[1:35:24]
>> true. The online threats I have never
[1:35:26]
seen one Muslim person online
[1:35:29]
threat.
[1:35:30]
>> Mr. Degan, online threats are federal.
[1:35:32]
Okay.
[1:35:34]
Your chief of police said that they were
[1:35:36]
going to use all local, state, and
[1:35:37]
federal people to investigate threats.
[1:35:40]
They say the You say that the local DPD
[1:35:43]
monitors threats. They don't care
[1:35:45]
anything about it when it's somebody
[1:35:46]
like me who gets threatened. It's only
[1:35:48]
when it's a protected class that gets
[1:35:51]
threatened. Your own chief said it. I've
[1:35:53]
got screenshots and you want to talk
[1:35:55]
about reading. You can read that.
[1:35:56]
>> If you have if you have screenshots,
[1:35:58]
what I would recommend to you is that
[1:35:59]
any law-abiding citizen, there's a
[1:36:01]
process in this country. If you go to
[1:36:03]
the Dearborn Police Department, you're
[1:36:04]
not happy with that. What's happened,
[1:36:06]
you go to the state police department.
[1:36:08]
That's the way the process.
[1:36:09]
>> That's why I just called to the attorney
[1:36:10]
general, then go ahead and do it and and
[1:36:12]
then you'll go through the process.
[1:36:14]
You're more than welcome. That's your
[1:36:15]
right. Okay. If you're not happy with an
[1:36:17]
outcome of something, that's what's
[1:36:19]
great about our country. We have a
[1:36:20]
circle. You go through and you will get
[1:36:22]
justice. If if you're what you're saying
[1:36:24]
is true, it will happen. So go through
[1:36:26]
the process. That's all I'm asking you
[1:36:28]
for. Okay.
[1:36:31]
Next. [applause]
[1:36:32]
Next speaker. Sure. You're all set. Next
[1:36:33]
speaker have Zuher Abdulhak. Would you
[1:36:35]
like to still speak?
[1:36:38]
>> Okay. Thank you.
[1:36:44]
can come this way. Oh, okay.
[1:36:47]
Whatever. Yeah, whatever.
[1:37:01]
Good evening, Zab.
[1:37:04]
When I came to this country in 1977,
[1:37:08]
I left my country because of the civil
[1:37:10]
war with my three brothers. I arrived to
[1:37:14]
this country to New York airport was
[1:37:16]
$913.
[1:37:19]
I didn't speak one word of English.
[1:37:23]
In four years I had engineering degree
[1:37:26]
from Wayne State University in 1981.
[1:37:30]
My brothers has BSS
[1:37:33]
in economic and biology.
[1:37:38]
We came to this country. We paid our
[1:37:41]
dues. We use the law. We use the
[1:37:44]
procedures. We use what's available, the
[1:37:46]
opportunities of this country which are
[1:37:49]
available to everybody who sat here, Mr.
[1:37:52]
Lorenzo, in a claim we took from them
[1:37:55]
and we took from them and we we got all
[1:37:58]
our riches from on on their backs.
[1:38:02]
We paid our dues. We worked seven days a
[1:38:07]
week. We slept in one room, three of us.
[1:38:11]
In Highland Park,
[1:38:14]
we lived like everybody else. We took
[1:38:17]
the buses. We froze our feet when we
[1:38:20]
waited for half an hour
[1:38:22]
to take the bus from one place to one
[1:38:25]
place to go to our classes into our
[1:38:28]
work.
[1:38:29]
The constitution of this country is a
[1:38:32]
great document. It gives everybody the
[1:38:36]
right
[1:38:37]
to live their life free, to do what they
[1:38:40]
want, to worship who they want.
[1:38:44]
And Mr. Lang, he has every right to burn
[1:38:47]
the book, to do whatever he wants to
[1:38:50]
with it. But he cannot tell us who we
[1:38:54]
worship because the only thing I worship
[1:38:57]
and every citizen in this country should
[1:38:59]
worship is the constitution of this
[1:39:02]
country because it over
[1:39:05]
you know it supersede the Quran, the
[1:39:09]
Bible and the Torah because we all live
[1:39:13]
under that constitution. We all
[1:39:15]
guaranteed our rights under that
[1:39:18]
constitution.
[1:39:20]
So God bless this country. God bless
[1:39:24]
this council in this city tonight. You
[1:39:27]
guys proved that you are a great
[1:39:29]
leaders.
[1:39:31]
You deserve to be up there and I thank
[1:39:34]
all our residents who none of them
[1:39:37]
>> 30 seconds or did anything illegal.
[1:39:40]
Again, thank you and God bless you.
[1:39:44]
>> Thank you, [applause]
[1:39:48]
Mr. O'Cra. You're next, sir. Glenn
[1:39:51]
O'Cra, thank you.
[1:39:58]
» I just want to tell the uh city
[1:40:00]
officials here, I love you all.
[1:40:03]
>> God bless you.
[1:40:04]
>> We love you too,
[1:40:06]
>> Mayor. Your your talk really touched me.
[1:40:11]
I was born in the predecessor to Oakwood
[1:40:14]
Hospital
[1:40:16]
and I went to Sacred Heart for 12 years,
[1:40:23]
grades uh 1 through 12.
[1:40:26]
And the nuns whom I was very critical of
[1:40:30]
u years ago, I also have grown to really
[1:40:33]
love for the sense of social justice
[1:40:36]
that they gave me.
[1:40:40]
What I saw tonight outside and within
[1:40:43]
this hall on the part of many people is
[1:40:46]
not reflective of Christianity. It's
[1:40:49]
just the opposite.
[1:40:51]
I would just like to go on record that I
[1:40:55]
believe that the spirit of the gospel
[1:40:57]
has not been followed as it should be.
[1:41:02]
My heart goes out to all Muslims.
[1:41:06]
Very sad what you are going through.
[1:41:09]
I wish you all the best. Thank you.
[1:41:12]
>> Thank you, Mr. Okra. [applause]
[1:41:17]
» Tiffany Alexander.
[1:41:21]
Thank you, ma'am.
[1:41:30]
» I'm short. There we go. Hello. Um,
[1:41:36]
as said, my name is Tiffany. Um, first,
[1:41:39]
can I just apologize for the other
[1:41:41]
people who came up here looking like me,
[1:41:43]
uh, I am so sorry and hum unbelievably
[1:41:46]
embarrassed and like to crawl into a
[1:41:48]
hole at that moment. So, please, when
[1:41:50]
you see people that look like me, do not
[1:41:52]
make that assumption. And please think
[1:41:54]
about what you have to how lost you have
[1:41:58]
to be to look like me and follow Jack
[1:42:03]
Jake, whatever his name is, Lang, okay,
[1:42:06]
who said, "Black parents are failures.
[1:42:08]
Black culture is disgusting."
[1:42:11]
Uh, told a bunch of black protesters
[1:42:13]
they were chimping around and made
[1:42:15]
monkey noises at black teenagers. So,
[1:42:17]
just imagine how lost of a soul you have
[1:42:20]
to be. So, I don't want to make this
[1:42:22]
about that.
[1:42:27]
I have been part of the community of
[1:42:29]
Dearbornne all 47 years of my life. My
[1:42:32]
mother currently lives here. Both of her
[1:42:35]
neighbors are Muslim. Um and
[1:42:39]
they have been My mother's elderly, not she's very independent because I'm
[1:42:45]
sure she's watching. Um and her
[1:42:48]
neighbors have always taken care of care
[1:42:49]
of her. They look out for her. I have
[1:42:52]
patronized the restaurants, the coffee
[1:42:54]
houses of this community for many
[1:42:58]
decades and I am so sorry that you are
[1:43:01]
having to tolerate
[1:43:03]
this appalling, disgusting display of
[1:43:08]
ignorance and fear and hatred.
[1:43:14]
I often wonder have any of these people
[1:43:17]
ever prior to today
[1:43:20]
been in Dearbornne
[1:43:23]
be including the preacher because I've
[1:43:27]
never in my life been unwelcomed
[1:43:29]
anywhere here.
[1:43:33]
I'm so sorry and I am so very deeply
[1:43:36]
embarrassed. but speaking for a great
[1:43:40]
deal of my community. We support you. We
[1:43:43]
stand with you. We stand with our Muslim
[1:43:46]
brother and sisters.
[1:43:48]
And
[1:43:50]
I I don't know how much these people are
[1:43:52]
actually even really un against you.
[1:43:55]
First of all, the biggest population of
[1:43:57]
Muslims in the United States are
[1:43:58]
Southeast Asians. The second biggest
[1:44:00]
population,
[1:44:03]
I myself, I'm not Muslim, but they look
[1:44:05]
like me. That's the second biggest
[1:44:06]
population.
[1:44:07]
>> You have 30 seconds remaining.
[1:44:09]
>> Thank you. Arab people are the third
[1:44:13]
biggest population of Muslims.
[1:44:16]
I am fully aware of who has oppressed my
[1:44:19]
people since day one. I am fully aware
[1:44:22]
of what they look like and my history.
[1:44:26]
And they do not look like my Muslim
[1:44:28]
brothers and sisters. I stand with you
[1:44:31]
today. My family stands with you
[1:44:33]
tomorrow.
[1:44:34]
and we will always stand with you as
[1:44:36]
long as we draw a breath. Thank you.
[1:44:38]
>> Thank you. Thank you. [applause]
[1:44:44]
» All right, folks. The next one, it's
[1:44:46]
hard to read out the first name, but
[1:44:47]
it's Arnold is the last name. Could be
[1:44:49]
Stephen. Yes, sir. Thank you.
[1:44:58]
» All right. No problem. There it is.
[1:45:01]
>> Good to see you.
[1:45:11]
Good evening. Just saw an old face
[1:45:12]
there.
[1:45:13]
>> We ran for mayor many years ago against
[1:45:16]
each other. You got more votes than me.
[1:45:19]
>> I came in third. I didn't have all the
[1:45:21]
money.
[1:45:24]
>> All right. Good evening.
[1:45:27]
Uh first of all,
[1:45:30]
great planning.
[1:45:33]
Excellent. This could have exploded.
[1:45:36]
It's pretty bad out there.
[1:45:38]
>> Could have been 10 times worse.
[1:45:40]
Excellent. A+.
[1:45:43]
Uh Mr. Sweeney, great um reel uh that
[1:45:48]
you sent out that kept thousands of
[1:45:51]
people from coming. I was at the gym
[1:45:53]
this morning. Everyone was saying
[1:45:54]
they're not coming. They're going to
[1:45:55]
ignore this noise.
[1:45:57]
They did. You could have had a you could
[1:45:59]
have had a 100,000 people out there.
[1:46:02]
Okay, they stay they chose to stay home.
[1:46:06]
Okay,
[1:46:07]
saved. It would have been a lot of mess,
[1:46:10]
right?
[1:46:12]
We have in Dearborn an excellent mayor.
[1:46:17]
I know. I've watched him.
[1:46:20]
I've learned from him.
[1:46:22]
He is dynamic.
[1:46:25]
He's smart. Wish I was as smart as that.
[1:46:29]
He did make a mistake a couple months
[1:46:31]
ago,
[1:46:33]
right? He was laughing.
[1:46:36]
Completely explainable,
[1:46:38]
but youth A+ tonight. Excellent. I
[1:46:42]
couldn't do it. I'm an Irishman. Oh,
[1:46:44]
man. You wouldn't want me out there.
[1:46:47]
Uh,
[1:46:48]
let me see if I can read this thing.
[1:46:51]
I want to apologize the city of Dearborn
[1:46:55]
particularly our Arab American
[1:46:59]
friends.
[1:47:01]
There was a group
[1:47:04]
I'll just call them misguided Christians
[1:47:08]
and misguided patriots.
[1:47:11]
Okay. Listen, they listen to the wrong
[1:47:13]
people.
[1:47:15]
They got good good good interests and at
[1:47:18]
heart.
[1:47:19]
Be careful who you follow.
[1:47:26]
okay? Because they're here to divide.
[1:47:31]
You're trying to pit us against each
[1:47:33]
other.
[1:47:34]
And Dearborn's a great city to live in.
[1:47:37]
Been here 30 years.
[1:47:39]
Okay, it's changed a lot.
[1:47:42]
It's still a great city. My gym used to
[1:47:45]
be 90% white.
[1:47:49]
It's now 90%
[1:47:51]
Middle Eastern.
[1:47:54]
I used to have white neighbors on both
[1:47:56]
my sides.
[1:47:57]
>> You have 30 seconds.
[1:47:58]
>> Okay, I'll go quick. I'm going to cut
[1:48:00]
off since I have um only 30 seconds. I
[1:48:02]
want to say another thing here.
[1:48:05]
The police did an excellent job. A+
[1:48:09]
double A+. That's a great choice to have
[1:48:12]
up there. Looks like a from Game of
[1:48:14]
Thrones.
[1:48:16]
I will do anything [applause]
[1:48:18]
A+. So, the the whole team and my final word is
[1:48:26]
>> uh make sure the the the officers get
[1:48:28]
overtime
[1:48:30]
>> cuz man, they were on the front line.
[1:48:32]
It's easy to sit back.
[1:48:33]
>> Time has expired.
[1:48:35]
>> I spent a lot of time walking outside
[1:48:36]
there and again again the poise they
[1:48:39]
had, the courage they showed because
[1:48:41]
there there was close. There's guy's
[1:48:43]
walking with handguns out there,
[1:48:45]
man. I'm glad I
[1:48:47]
>> Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Arnold.
[1:48:49]
>> All right, that's it.
[1:48:49]
>> Appreciate it. Yes, sir. Thank you.
[1:48:50]
>> That's a quick
[1:48:52]
>> Thank you.
[1:48:54]
[applause]
[1:48:55]
>> All right. And the next the next speaker
[1:48:56]
we have is uh Dr. Lana.
[1:48:59]
>> Yes. Thank you.
[1:49:07]
» Hello everyone. I'm Dr. Lana Al-Hasani
[1:49:11]
and uh I have a few points. First of
[1:49:13]
think we keep hearing this is a
[1:49:15]
Christian nation and because I'm
[1:49:18]
involved in interfaith with Native
[1:49:20]
American and this is a big offensive to
[1:49:22]
native people because they said those
[1:49:26]
people came the Christian from Europe to
[1:49:29]
practice their religion here freely then
[1:49:32]
they claimed this is a Christian nation.
[1:49:34]
So first of think this is not a
[1:49:36]
Christian nation. This is montheist and
[1:49:40]
they told me they worship one God the
[1:49:43]
creator. They call him the greatest
[1:49:45]
spirit. He is the same God the creator
[1:49:48]
that Jesus worship on St. Virgin Mary.
[1:49:51]
Second those Christian they cannot talk
[1:49:54]
behalf on all Christian people. My
[1:49:57]
husband he is Catholic. They have
[1:49:59]
different translation to their Bible.
[1:50:01]
I'm Muslim and I'm proud to marry
[1:50:03]
Irishman Catholic. I don't see any
[1:50:06]
difference. Okay. And my husband, he is
[1:50:09]
Catholic and he know more about Islam
[1:50:12]
more even than me because he is a
[1:50:14]
historian. And for the event for Imam
[1:50:18]
Hussein on August 2nd that it made a lot
[1:50:21]
of news. By the way, I'm the
[1:50:23]
granddaughter of Hussein and I'm proud
[1:50:25]
of it. My grandpa Hussein, he stood up
[1:50:28]
for justice and the truth. He stood up
[1:50:30]
against corrupted Islamic caliphate. We
[1:50:33]
hear in western media. Oh, in history
[1:50:36]
they were Islamic caliphate. They were
[1:50:40]
conquered land. Kill human. Yes, I
[1:50:43]
agree. But guess what? Those Islamic
[1:50:45]
caliphate established by Western Empire
[1:50:48]
in history, not by Prophet Muhammad
[1:50:51]
family. And guess what? Good news for
[1:50:53]
you. Prophet Muhammad family stood up
[1:50:55]
against them. Hussein a grandson of
[1:50:58]
Muhammad my grandpa stood up against th
[1:51:01]
those khalifhat corrupted in history if
[1:51:03]
you talk about history and those Islamic
[1:51:06]
caliphate is slaughter Muhammad family
[1:51:09]
with 72 with his people. Second prophet
[1:51:13]
Muhammad family wife Lady Khadijah she
[1:51:16]
came from a Christian background.
[1:51:18]
Other thing the priest who confirmed the
[1:51:21]
message of Islam. He was Muhammad family
[1:51:25]
cousin he was a priest he was Catholic
[1:51:28]
he approved the message of Islam. And
[1:51:30]
when the prophet of Islam and his
[1:51:33]
follower got slaughtered in their own
[1:51:36]
city they as refugee in a Christian city
[1:51:39]
and that it show how a big history and
[1:51:41]
sharing history between Muslim and
[1:51:44]
between a Christian. If any people can
[1:51:47]
read the real history, they will see
[1:51:49]
that we are one Muslim and the
[1:51:51]
Christian. And the event of Al Hussein,
[1:51:54]
it's honored not just by Muslim but also
[1:51:56]
honored by Catholic priest, is honored
[1:51:58]
by Orthodox Church. And we have all love
[1:52:01]
and respect to all good Christian
[1:52:03]
people, the real Christian, not the fake
[1:52:05]
one. Okay. And always we are one. Thank
[1:52:08]
you.
[1:52:08]
>> Thank you.
[1:52:13]
» All right. Next we have uh Eddie H.
[1:52:40]
Good evening board's uh me member of the
[1:52:42]
board's neighbors and friends. Tonight
[1:52:44]
we're being asked to take seriously a
[1:52:46]
man who has built his entire platform on
[1:52:48]
a lie. Mr. Lang has spent months telling
[1:52:50]
anyone who listened that Dearborn is
[1:52:52]
secretly governed by Shia law. No
[1:52:55]
ordinance, no court, no city record
[1:52:57]
supports that claim because it doesn't
[1:52:59]
exist. Residents here, Muslim and
[1:53:02]
Christian alike, live under the same
[1:53:04]
Michigan law, same US constitution and
[1:53:06]
the same city charter as every other
[1:53:08]
resident in this state. But when you
[1:53:10]
have the when you have to invent a legal
[1:53:13]
system to be afraid of that tells you
[1:53:15]
something about the argument that you're
[1:53:17]
actually making. Let's talk about what
[1:53:18]
Mr. Lang has done instead of making that
[1:53:20]
argument. Honestly, he's tried to burn
[1:53:22]
religious textbooks um in the street.
[1:53:25]
He's slapped a holy book with a slab of
[1:53:27]
bacon for a camera. He's called for mass
[1:53:30]
deportation of people who lived, worked,
[1:53:32]
and raised families in this very country
[1:53:34]
for generations. He brushed away any
[1:53:37]
type of hospitality. And none of that is
[1:53:39]
political commentary. It's all a stunt
[1:53:41]
built to provoke fear and call it faith.
[1:53:45]
And that's the part I actually want to
[1:53:46]
speak about because Mr. Lang claims to
[1:53:48]
do this in the name of Christianity. So
[1:53:50]
let's hold him to that standard because
[1:53:52]
Christ ate with the outcast. He told us
[1:53:55]
to love our neighbor, not to burn what
[1:53:57]
our neighbors hold sacred. Christ said
[1:54:00]
the truth would set us free, not that
[1:54:02]
provocation dressed up as truth would
[1:54:05]
get you a following. By that measure,
[1:54:07]
the Muslim families in this city who
[1:54:08]
show hospitality to strangers, who care
[1:54:10]
for their elderly, who show up for their
[1:54:12]
neighbors regardless of faith, they are
[1:54:14]
living closer to that teaching on any
[1:54:16]
given Tuesday than Mr. Lang has ever
[1:54:18]
done in his entire campaign. That's not
[1:54:20]
an insult. That's just an honest look at
[1:54:22]
fruit at the fruit each of them is
[1:54:23]
producing. And it's why you'll find
[1:54:25]
plenty of Christians plainly and
[1:54:27]
publicly saying they don't recognize
[1:54:29]
their own faith in what he's selling. So
[1:54:31]
Sharia doesn't exist in the measures
[1:54:33]
that you may think here. First of all,
[1:54:34]
Sharia means principle, law. Okay? Just
[1:54:36]
like Allah literally means God. Sharia
[1:54:39]
is simply the principle that we live by
[1:54:41]
such as property rights in marriage,
[1:54:43]
equality, and accountability. Sharia
[1:54:45]
insists that we don't indulge in usery
[1:54:47]
and interest. Allah explains the
[1:54:49]
inheritance of a family's estate. It's
[1:54:51]
the way of life, the true honest way of
[1:54:53]
living and that's something crusaders
[1:54:55]
are not accustomed to as they are
[1:54:56]
accustomed to stealing in a form of
[1:54:58]
conquering and terrorizing in the name
[1:55:00]
of establishing faith. So my ask of this
[1:55:02]
board is very simple. Don't legitimize a
[1:55:05]
manufactured threat by treating as a
[1:55:07]
real debate. After this Tuesday, I urge
[1:55:09]
the board not to entertain this any
[1:55:11]
further by agreeing to a board meeting.
[1:55:13]
The world has seen what
[1:55:14]
>> you have and what Mr. Mr. Lang is
[1:55:17]
portraying because provocation is not
[1:55:19]
the same thing as principle. Thank you
[1:55:21]
so much and appreciate you for
[1:55:23]
appreciate everything that you do, Mr.
[1:55:24]
Mayor. Uh, thank you guys so much. Have
[1:55:25]
a good day.
[1:55:26]
>> Thank you.
[1:55:28]
[applause]
[1:55:30]
All right. Next, we have Daniel Molina.
[1:55:34]
Is it pronounced? I'm sorry, sir. Go
[1:55:36]
ahead.
[1:55:41]
» Oh. Uh Dan, Melinda, I just wanted to
[1:55:44]
say I love Dearborn and I think you all
[1:55:47]
are doing a great job. Um and you know
[1:55:52]
what the mayor said earlier was very
[1:55:54]
moving and eloquent and everything my
[1:55:58]
neighbors have said is really kind of
[1:56:00]
echo with that. I it's just I keep
[1:56:03]
hearing this common kind of message of
[1:56:05]
unity. The only people that I hear kind
[1:56:08]
of preaching division are people from
[1:56:12]
outside Dearbornne. And I've only lived
[1:56:14]
in Dearborn seven years myself, but I,
[1:56:18]
you know, find it very welcoming. My
[1:56:19]
kids have gone to school here. I've
[1:56:21]
great schools, great places to eat. It's
[1:56:24]
a great community. I've, you know, it's
[1:56:25]
safe. Kids can just walk to uh town
[1:56:29]
themselves. um the parks and I have to
[1:56:32]
say the the recent investment in the
[1:56:34]
parks has just been wonderful and like
[1:56:36]
the peace park I was there uh for the
[1:56:38]
summer market. It's like something out
[1:56:39]
of a Hallmark movie and it's you know
[1:56:42]
just seeing the community coming
[1:56:43]
together and you know like seeing the um
[1:56:47]
you know in the summertime with the uh
[1:56:49]
World Cup having a televised there's
[1:56:51]
just so much that pulls people together
[1:56:53]
and all of this you know it's
[1:56:55]
developments that you guys have done in
[1:56:57]
recent years and I just uh I just don't
[1:57:01]
understand the haters and I don't
[1:57:02]
understand every time I read any article
[1:57:05]
about Dearborn it just people just go
[1:57:09]
into the comments. It's always people
[1:57:11]
outside of Dearbornne where, you know,
[1:57:13]
it's nice, it's refreshing to hear
[1:57:15]
everyone from Dearbornne tonight just
[1:57:17]
for the most part talking about unity
[1:57:21]
and coming together and supporting their
[1:57:22]
neighbors. And, you know, I'm here, you
[1:57:25]
know, because a neighbor of mine said to
[1:57:26]
come here tonight and I'm here to
[1:57:28]
support my neighbors and um just say how
[1:57:32]
great Dearbornne is and uh what a great
[1:57:34]
job I think everyone's been doing. So,
[1:57:36]
thank you.
[1:57:36]
>> Thank you.
[1:57:38]
>> [applause]
[1:57:42]
» Next we have uh Hezekiel Israel.
[1:58:00]
Okay. Uh dear uh dear mayor, members of
[1:58:03]
[clears throat] the board, and honored
[1:58:04]
guests, peace be with you all. In light
[1:58:07]
of strong religious and political
[1:58:09]
tensions in our country, I believe that
[1:58:13]
what truly helps establish peace and
[1:58:16]
unity is to examine the practices that
[1:58:20]
would show God to be good, just, and
[1:58:23]
perfect in all he does and that aligns
[1:58:26]
with the natural world he created.
[1:58:30]
This is the foundation of my comment
[1:58:33]
tonight.
[1:58:34]
I want to begin by acknowledging the
[1:58:37]
good I see in many Islamic practices
[1:58:40]
here in Dearbornne and throughout our
[1:58:42]
country. The commitment to one God, the
[1:58:46]
discipline of prayer, the reverence
[1:58:49]
shown in speaking highly of the creator
[1:58:52]
and the desire for community and
[1:58:54]
fellowship.
[1:58:56]
These are meaningful expressions of
[1:58:58]
devotion and I appreciate them
[1:59:01]
sincerely.
[1:59:02]
[clears throat] My brother JP once told
[1:59:05]
me how much the Arab community
[1:59:07]
contributes positively to the
[1:59:10]
Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana region
[1:59:13]
where I am from. [clears throat] He
[1:59:15]
spoke highly of Arab families, Arab
[1:59:18]
businesses, and the kindness he sees
[1:59:20]
from many Muslims in our area. I agree
[1:59:24]
with him.
[1:59:26]
I don't want the Arab community to
[1:59:28]
leave. Mayor, I want you and your people
[1:59:32]
here and to thrive here. But I do wish
[1:59:36]
to ask you to consider certain practices
[1:59:40]
that history has shown can lead to decay
[1:59:43]
in society and not bring those practices
[1:59:47]
here.
[1:59:49]
For example, how could a God who is just
[1:59:51]
and good take pleasure in seeing one of
[1:59:54]
the creatures he made suffer as a
[1:59:57]
sacrifice to himself like the Islamic
[2:00:00]
festival of Eid aladha where animals are
[2:00:03]
slaughtered in the name of God? Wouldn't
[2:00:06]
it be on the account of one who is evil
[2:00:08]
to delight in such suffering? But God is
[2:00:11]
not evil. God is good. Right? So how
[2:00:14]
could he delight in that? Didn't Jesus
[2:00:18]
end such practices millennia ago,
[2:00:21]
driving the animals out of the temple in
[2:00:24]
John chapter 2, teaching that places of
[2:00:27]
worship should be places of praise and
[2:00:30]
prayer, not sacrifice.
[2:00:32]
>> You have 30 seconds. [clears throat]
[2:00:34]
>> I also want to address recent actions by
[2:00:37]
Jake Lang. Um, and I just I'll cut it
[2:00:41]
short. Jesus never ate bacon, folks. So,
[2:00:45]
it's no point in putting bacon on a
[2:00:47]
Quran. And I just want to apologize to
[2:00:49]
you all for that because that's not what
[2:00:52]
Jesus would have done. Thank you, sir.
[2:00:55]
Thank you. Uh, next we have uh Bob
[2:00:58]
Patrick Henry.
[2:01:02]
Okay. Uh, Jeff Davis.
[2:01:08]
» I'm Davis.
[2:01:11]
>> No, sir.
[2:01:14]
Nope. Davis. Jeff Davis. Is the first
[2:01:16]
name Jeff?
[2:01:18]
>> Yeah. Sorry. No, it's not yours. Jeff
[2:01:19]
Davis. Um,
[2:01:22]
they have a cell phone number on here.
[2:01:23]
Does yours What's yours end in?
[2:01:25]
>> No, sir.
[2:01:29]
» Okay. Thank you, sir. Uh, Fidel Gibson.
[2:01:35]
» Okay. Yeah, that's I know we got to go
[2:01:37]
through them all. Just give us a second
[2:01:38]
here. Uh, Dr. Michelle Proctor. Thank
[2:01:41]
you.
[2:02:06]
Hi. Thank you um city council members
[2:02:09]
and um mayor for keeping our meeting for
[2:02:14]
the business of the city of Dearbornne.
[2:02:17]
Um I'm here to talk to you about Edison
[2:02:20]
Park. I'm sure you're probably really
[2:02:22]
happy to hear about Edison Park. Um,
[2:02:26]
and the mayor was very happy was very
[2:02:29]
gracious to speak with us for two hours
[2:02:31]
and take uh questions from us about our park. Uh, the issue is the trees.
[2:02:37]
Okay. Um, it's item 15 that was on our
[2:02:41]
agenda on the website. There was I
[2:02:44]
didn't have a chance to really digest
[2:02:45]
it. Um, Thursday we had um a meeting and
[2:02:50]
we talked about how it was the easement
[2:02:54]
for what I understood and I'm I'm here
[2:02:56]
for clarification. What I understood was
[2:02:58]
this was to have an agreement with Ford
[2:03:01]
to be able to go back there and it
[2:03:03]
didn't have really anything to do with
[2:03:04]
the pipes that were being talked about
[2:03:07]
with the sewers.
[2:03:09]
I'm just wanting clarification on that
[2:03:11]
because it seemed like there was a
[2:03:13]
contract with um
[2:03:14]
>> Yeah. Uh doc Dr. we're going to have the
[2:03:17]
mayor because we did address it last
[2:03:19]
week, but you're more than welcome at
[2:03:20]
the committee that the mayor will
[2:03:22]
respond to that.
[2:03:22]
>> Yes. Thank you.
[2:03:23]
>> Yeah, of course. Uh thank you so much
[2:03:24]
for being here. So the easement is an
[2:03:26]
agreement with Ford Motor Company that
[2:03:28]
allows us access to their property and
[2:03:30]
under the ground to maintain any lines
[2:03:32]
or staging, things of that nature. Now
[2:03:34]
the next step is we're preparing to go
[2:03:36]
out for a formal RFP in which if you're
[2:03:39]
on the email list we shared that we'd be
[2:03:41]
adding language that says to avoid all
[2:03:43]
trees and doing the investment in the
[2:03:44]
most environmentally conscious manner.
[2:03:46]
Once that company is selected we'll hire
[2:03:48]
an engineering firm. Then the process
[2:03:50]
will take about you know 18 months to
[2:03:52]
design the actual storm water line that
[2:03:54]
will ultimately be installed in across
[2:03:57]
southwest Dearborn.
[2:03:59]
>> Okay. Well, that's what I understood
[2:04:00]
from from Thursday, but and we we kind
[2:04:03]
of mentioned this that we don't want
[2:04:05]
information to just be spread on social
[2:04:08]
media. So, I think it's very important
[2:04:10]
for those of us in the community and
[2:04:12]
those of us who love our park and we
[2:04:14]
love our park as you know um to be
[2:04:17]
active in the council meeting so that we
[2:04:19]
can continue the dialogue. So, thank you
[2:04:21]
for the clarification. We just want to
[2:04:23]
make sure we save our troops.
[2:04:24]
>> That's why we created the email list.
[2:04:26]
And I've never been to a park where the
[2:04:28]
Lorax showed up and was a part of the
[2:04:30]
meeting.
[2:04:30]
>> Oh, that was pretty good, wasn't it?
[2:04:31]
>> I was excited that he was there and we
[2:04:33]
made a commitment to the Lorax and we'll
[2:04:34]
try.
[2:04:35]
>> Well, you could see the turnout how much
[2:04:36]
we really that that's really central to
[2:04:38]
our community and we're very passionate
[2:04:40]
about it and so I'm sure you'll hear
[2:04:42]
about Edison Park again.
[2:04:44]
>> Absolutely. Thank you so much for being
[2:04:45]
here.
[2:04:46]
>> Thank you. Thank you. Uh, next we have Jaclyn.
[2:04:52]
Jacleine. Uh,
[2:04:55]
it says district three. I can't.
[2:04:58]
>> Okay. Sorry.
[2:05:00]
>> Thank you.
[2:05:01]
>> Sorry.
[2:05:07]
» There's no Yeah, there's no uh props
[2:05:09]
allowed.
[2:05:10]
>> Okay.
[2:05:16]
Thank you very much for your
[2:05:17]
hospitality, city of Dearbornne. I
[2:05:19]
really enjoyed uh the educational
[2:05:22]
purposes. Uh I've gone to quite a few
[2:05:25]
city council meetings throughout the
[2:05:27]
state and I'll tell you this is to the
[2:05:30]
utmost most impressive.
[2:05:32]
Your detailed information in your
[2:05:35]
agendas and the transparency is superb.
[2:05:39]
I appreciate that.
[2:05:42]
I uh in my district, unfortunately,
[2:05:46]
I can tell you that the educational
[2:05:49]
level is far lower than what you have.
[2:05:54]
If I had an opportunity to get our
[2:05:56]
school district together and come and
[2:06:00]
sit and see how professional and
[2:06:02]
well-maintained
[2:06:04]
your agenda is with your items and the
[2:06:07]
procedure and the planning, then perhaps
[2:06:10]
people would be more motivated to do
[2:06:14]
better for all.
[2:06:17]
I noticed an agenda item that I'm very
[2:06:19]
concerned about and it's in relevance to
[2:06:21]
the prop that I have. It is a Arabic
[2:06:25]
magazine purchased in New York by my
[2:06:29]
great great greatgrandfather.
[2:06:31]
It's only in Arabic. It's from 1924.
[2:06:37]
It is a a book that is relevance to love
[2:06:40]
and prosperity and strength and unity.
[2:06:45]
And I don't want any prop any planning
[2:06:50]
to come with your main storm drain to
[2:06:53]
deter your water to go to a data center
[2:06:57]
and take my great greatgrandfather's
[2:07:00]
book of beauty and have a machine
[2:07:03]
destroy it
[2:07:06]
and never know how beautiful it is.
[2:07:12]
>> Would you like me to respond to that,
[2:07:13]
Council President? you you may or I
[2:07:15]
>> I think the agenda item was related to
[2:07:17]
the one in regards to data centers.
[2:07:19]
>> Yes.
[2:07:20]
So they don't
[2:07:23]
So the agenda item on data centers was
[2:07:25]
we eliminated where data centers could
[2:07:27]
potentially open up in the city of
[2:07:29]
Dearbornne. Uh in addition to that, our
[2:07:31]
uh corp council is also working on a
[2:07:33]
moratorum to put a pause on any possible
[2:07:37]
applications that could be submitted to
[2:07:39]
allow moratoriums in order for us to
[2:07:41]
beef up the laws around data centers
[2:07:43]
since we don't have any on our books.
[2:07:45]
And so those are the steps being taken
[2:07:46]
as pertain to the the the inter the
[2:07:48]
storm interceptor line. Um as spoken to
[2:07:51]
uh Dr. proctor earlier. Um, this is a
[2:07:53]
line that will help reduce flooding in
[2:07:55]
people's basements given Dearbornne
[2:07:56]
floods heavily when we have heavy rain
[2:07:58]
events. And so we did a two-year study
[2:08:01]
and the study suggested that we have to
[2:08:03]
add an interceptor line in southwest
[2:08:05]
Dearborn so that we can sewer separate
[2:08:07]
so that the sewage water runs down one
[2:08:09]
line and the storm water runs down
[2:08:10]
another. It has nothing to do and zero
[2:08:13]
implications to any data center.
[2:08:15]
>> All right. Thank you. Hope that
[2:08:17]
answered. Thank you, mayor, for that.
[2:08:18]
All right. Next we have um Ethan Barl.
[2:08:23]
Great.
[2:08:39]
» All right. You may say that um
[2:08:42]
Dearbornne has um peaceful. It's been
[2:08:46]
with Christians and occupied peacefully
[2:08:49]
with Muslims and Christians together and
[2:08:51]
the crime rates have ma remained fairly
[2:08:53]
stagnant.
[2:08:55]
Not so for Europe. Rapes are up over
[2:08:58]
300% to 500% in England, France, and
[2:09:03]
Sweden and other European countries that
[2:09:05]
have embraced fully embrace Muslim
[2:09:08]
immigration.
[2:09:10]
And in those same three countries that I
[2:09:12]
just listed, Muslims now make up 7 to
[2:09:15]
10% of the total population, which has
[2:09:18]
taken place just over these last few
[2:09:20]
decades, driving an explosion in sexual
[2:09:22]
assaults and rapes. Meanwhile, we can
[2:09:26]
take a control group, Poland, which in
[2:09:29]
which rapes are down 70%.
[2:09:32]
Over that same period, Poland's simple
[2:09:34]
strategy is don't let Muslims in.
[2:09:37]
England and Wales since 2002 rapes
[2:09:41]
increased over 500% to 75,000 reported
[2:09:45]
rapes in the last year and according to
[2:09:47]
the uh statista for every that was
[2:09:50]
according to Statista and for every
[2:09:52]
single one of those five uh reported
[2:09:54]
rapes is 5 to 15 unreported rapes. So
[2:09:57]
you can see the scale of the issue. So
[2:09:59]
we have not seen the fullscale
[2:10:01]
manifestation of the Islamification of
[2:10:04]
America, but Europe has and they've seen
[2:10:06]
the fruit. And you can even Germany is
[2:10:10]
now looking at an initiative to deport
[2:10:12]
over over 800,000 Muslim immigrants over
[2:10:15]
the course of three years. Um, in June
[2:10:21]
2026, the rape inquiry report unveiled
[2:10:23]
that Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs
[2:10:25]
systematically raped and traveled
[2:10:26]
thousands of British girls across
[2:10:29]
numerous towns while police, social
[2:10:31]
services, healthc care providers, and
[2:10:33]
politicians repeatedly failed to protect
[2:10:35]
them and out of fear of being called
[2:10:38]
racist. The estimated victims was
[2:10:41]
previously mentioned uh 250,000
[2:10:44]
from the 1990s to the present.
[2:10:47]
Um I say let us all learn from the
[2:10:49]
mistakes of these European countries who
[2:10:51]
have betrayed their people and
[2:10:52]
especially their women who suffer the
[2:10:54]
most because of these wicked and evil
[2:10:56]
initiatives to not hold to not prosecute
[2:11:01]
these things. And um uh the most
[2:11:05]
hypocritical thing about this all is
[2:11:07]
that you guys at the same time claim to
[2:11:10]
be liberals and democrats
[2:11:12]
>> and support feminism. Uh, tell me how is
[2:11:15]
supporting a system that mistreats
[2:11:18]
women, increases rapes 300 to 500% in
[2:11:22]
Europe and now um, and then how's that
[2:11:26]
liberal and feminism? You guys are liars
[2:11:29]
and deceitful and your sheep and wolves
[2:11:32]
clothing. Um,
[2:11:38]
» and this is
[2:11:40]
>> I'm sorry. Time is expired.
[2:11:41]
>> All right.
[2:11:43]
Next we have uh Chaz Sykes.
[2:11:50]
» This was not made for the vertically
[2:11:51]
gifted. I'll say that. [laughter]
[2:11:55]
>> Uh well, thank you dear Bourne and good
[2:11:56]
evening. Uh it's a pleasure and a
[2:11:58]
privilege to be able to talk to you
[2:12:00]
today and I want to thank uh the council
[2:12:02]
for allowing uh free speech.
[2:12:05]
My name is Chaz Sykes with uh Turning
[2:12:08]
Point Action, the organization founded
[2:12:09]
by the late Charlie Kirk.
[2:12:12]
I am speaking to you today as your
[2:12:14]
turning point field representative.
[2:12:17]
The first thing I would like to say is
[2:12:19]
that these jokers do not represent the
[2:12:21]
Republican party.
[2:12:23]
Thank you. The
[2:12:27]
Republican Party stands for freedom and
[2:12:30]
individual liberty. The real Republican
[2:12:32]
Party stands for the Constitution of the
[2:12:34]
United States.
[2:12:37]
three homicides in 2024 and 2025
[2:12:40]
combined.
[2:12:42]
In a two-year span, violent crime has
[2:12:44]
dropped by 20%, robberies decreased by
[2:12:47]
22%, vehicle thefts fell by 30%, and
[2:12:51]
burglaries plummeted by 40%.
[2:12:55]
So, that's crime. What about education?
[2:12:58]
According to the Meno C Center's context
[2:13:00]
and performance report card, Dearborn
[2:13:02]
public schools frequently dominate the
[2:13:04]
state with five schools ranking in the
[2:13:06]
top 30.
[2:13:08]
Out of all 15 public universities in
[2:13:10]
Michigan, U of M Dearborn grads secure
[2:13:13]
the fourth highest median annual
[2:13:14]
earnings 10 years after enrollment.
[2:13:18]
UF Dearborn maintains the lowest average
[2:13:20]
annual cost of any public 4-year
[2:13:22]
university in Michigan.
[2:13:26]
What about Dearborn culturally? What
[2:13:27]
does that look like?
[2:13:30]
Well, Dearbornne's populace is deeply
[2:13:32]
entrenched in social and religious
[2:13:34]
conservatism. Dearbornne is bar none the
[2:13:36]
most conservative city in America. The
[2:13:39]
community has made national headlines
[2:13:41]
for packed rockus schoolboard meetings
[2:13:43]
where large coalitions of Muslim and
[2:13:45]
Christian parents successfully organized
[2:13:48]
to protest and remove books with LGBTQ
[2:13:51]
plus garbage and sexual content from
[2:13:53]
public schools.
[2:13:55]
The social structure revolves heavily
[2:13:57]
around the traditional family unit.
[2:13:59]
Concepts of gender roles, modesty,
[2:14:01]
dating, and marriage tend to align
[2:14:03]
closely with traditional Islamic and
[2:14:05]
Christian teachings rather than modern
[2:14:07]
progressive garbage. There is a
[2:14:10]
collective community rejection of woke
[2:14:11]
ideology and the disgusting
[2:14:13]
sexualization of children. They have
[2:14:16]
tried to introduce gender identity into
[2:14:18]
local healthcare and were shut down
[2:14:20]
immediately.
[2:14:21]
Dearbornne also has one of the highest
[2:14:23]
densities of small businesses in the
[2:14:24]
state. This fosters a highly capitalist
[2:14:29]
anti-regulation and taxes conscious
[2:14:31]
mindset aligned with the Republican
[2:14:32]
party. Find me another city with a
[2:14:35]
population over a 100,000 that is more
[2:14:37]
conservative than Dearbornne. I am here
[2:14:39]
to tell you that if you believe in
[2:14:41]
entrepreneurship, religious freedom,
[2:14:43]
family orientation, and social
[2:14:45]
conservatism, then you stand with
[2:14:47]
Dearborn. On the other hand, if you spit
[2:14:50]
on capitalism, reject the constitution,
[2:14:52]
and participate in the destruction of
[2:14:54]
the family and gender roles in society,
[2:14:56]
then you have already left this meeting.
[2:14:58]
>> Your time has expired.
[2:14:59]
>> Thank you very much.
[2:14:59]
>> Thank you. [applause]
[2:15:03]
» Uh, next we have the Alawan.
[2:15:11]
All right. Odaid Fakori.
[2:15:15]
Odori.
[2:15:19]
Sam
[2:15:20]
uh Sam Fington.
[2:15:26]
Okay. Uh Angela Gil.
[2:15:33]
Um Mustafa Almuna.
[2:15:37]
Aluna. Okay.
[2:15:44]
» Hello, council members. Mayor I'm just
[2:15:47]
following up about the West Dearborn
[2:15:49]
Valley. I know it's a bad time. I feel
[2:15:51]
like every time I come to I feel like
[2:15:53]
every time I come to a council meeting,
[2:15:55]
there's something more important. I get
[2:15:56]
it.
[2:15:57]
>> Why?
[2:15:58]
>> So, I just wanted to follow up. I did
[2:16:00]
send all our info over. I was told also
[2:16:02]
to bring in all our documents to present
[2:16:04]
in front of council.
[2:16:05]
>> Yeah,
[2:16:05]
>> I know our police department and zoning
[2:16:07]
department works very hard and they have
[2:16:08]
a lot more important things to deal
[2:16:09]
with.
[2:16:09]
>> I can answer it for you.
[2:16:11]
>> Yeah. No, thank you so much for being
[2:16:12]
here. legal just advised me that they're
[2:16:13]
currently reviewing your application
[2:16:14]
right now. So, you should hear back
[2:16:15]
relatively soon.
[2:16:16]
>> Okay. Is mayor, is it possible to
[2:16:18]
instead of coming to another
[2:16:20]
>> Yeah. Yeah. We'll contact you.
[2:16:21]
>> Okay. Do I have to wait for another
[2:16:23]
[laughter]
[2:16:23]
>> I I might start believing that you are
[2:16:25]
the cause of everything. So, I think
[2:16:27]
we're going to do our best to get you
[2:16:29]
the answer without having you to sit
[2:16:31]
through a long meeting.
[2:16:32]
>> Okay. Gotcha. And the last thing I
[2:16:33]
wanted to ask, do I have to come to
[2:16:34]
another councilman because it is
[2:16:35]
expensive to wait.
[2:16:36]
>> You don't you don't you don't have to.
[2:16:38]
>> Okay. You don't have to.
[2:16:39]
>> Do you need these Do you need these
[2:16:40]
documents or are we good? We're we have
[2:16:42]
everything that we need.
[2:16:43]
>> All right. Thank you guys.
[2:16:44]
>> You can tell the people to go with you.
[2:16:46]
[laughter]
[2:16:46]
>> Thank you guys. Have a good one.
[2:16:49]
>> All right.
[2:16:50]
>> Uh JP the boy,
[2:16:52]
>> is that that's you, sir? No.
[2:16:57]
» Yes, sir. Sorry.
[2:17:04]
» Yeah. JP Dyorg. I live in Dearbornne
[2:17:07]
Heights. I'm an atheist. Atheists are
[2:17:11]
also Americans.
[2:17:13]
I strongly disagree with with the
[2:17:16]
religious intolerance that some people
[2:17:18]
have been expressing.
[2:17:20]
I welcome neighbors and friends from all
[2:17:24]
religious persuasions.
[2:17:27]
Muslims are Americans.
[2:17:29]
Christians are Americans. Jews are
[2:17:32]
Americans.
[2:17:34]
Wiccans are Americans.
[2:17:37]
She six are Americans. Um,
[2:17:42]
thousands of other possible persuasions
[2:17:45]
are Americans.
[2:17:47]
People should seek to understand one
[2:17:50]
another and get along, not to stoke
[2:17:54]
division and intolerance.
[2:17:57]
Thank you.
[2:17:58]
>> Thank you, [applause]
[2:18:01]
>> Chris Sanders.
[2:18:14]
So, my name is Chris Anders. I'm a proud
[2:18:16]
Catholic Christian, and I am troubled
[2:18:20]
deeply. But I witness here tonight
[2:18:23]
to the men and women protesting in the
[2:18:25]
name of Jesus, hurling hate out of
[2:18:27]
Muslims, brothers and sisters, not in
[2:18:30]
his name, and certainly not on my watch.
[2:18:34]
I count many Muslims as my friends, my
[2:18:37]
neighbors, my associates, and yes, my
[2:18:40]
barber.
[2:18:41]
Men and women of integrity, of family,
[2:18:44]
and of faith. We may not be brothers in
[2:18:46]
faith, but we are certainly absolutely
[2:18:49]
brothers and sisters in humanity. And
[2:18:51]
freedom of religion is not a footnote to
[2:18:53]
being an American. It is a cornerstone.
[2:18:56]
The same first amendment that protects
[2:18:58]
my right to go to mass protects your
[2:19:01]
right to the mosque. It grieves me that
[2:19:04]
in the name of Jesus, the prince of
[2:19:06]
peace is being used as a weapon to
[2:19:08]
spread fear, intolerance, and hate. That
[2:19:11]
is not the gospel. That is not the
[2:19:13]
cross. And that certainly is not of
[2:19:16]
Christ. So let me be clear. The name of
[2:19:19]
in the name of Jesus Christ, I rebuke
[2:19:21]
this spirit of hatred and division.
[2:19:24]
Scripture does not leave us confused
[2:19:25]
about this. We are called to rebuke evil
[2:19:28]
and tonight this is evil. using the name
[2:19:31]
of the savior who deni who dined with
[2:19:33]
outcasts to cast out our neighbors good
[2:19:35]
people. John 13:35 tells us exactly how
[2:19:39]
Christians should be known. By this all
[2:19:42]
people will know that you are my
[2:19:44]
disciples if you have love for one
[2:19:46]
another and your neighbor. First John
[2:19:48]
4:20 makes it even plainer. If anyone
[2:19:51]
says I love God and hates his brother,
[2:19:53]
he is a liar. So no, you do not speak
[2:19:57]
for me. You do not speak for my church
[2:20:00]
and you do not speak for Christ when you
[2:20:03]
chant hate at people of God, no matter
[2:20:07]
the faith. To my Muslim friends in this
[2:20:09]
room and in this city, you are welcome
[2:20:12]
here. You belong here. Your freedom to
[2:20:15]
worship is my freedom to worship and I
[2:20:17]
will stand for it because my faith
[2:20:19]
demands it. We can disagree and we
[2:20:23]
probably will on theology and still
[2:20:25]
defend each other's dignity. That's not
[2:20:27]
weakness. That's Christianity. That is
[2:20:31]
American.
[2:20:33]
[applause]
[2:20:38]
Thank you, Mr. Sanders. Jeff Doyer.
[2:20:56]
Unlike a lot of people who showed up
[2:20:58]
something to read, I don't have anything
[2:21:00]
to read. Lord Jesus Christ brought me
[2:21:02]
here today to speak with everybody. And
[2:21:05]
yes, everybody should be open-minded.
[2:21:07]
Everybody should be friendly, kind. You
[2:21:10]
never know what somebody else is
[2:21:11]
thinking unless you take time to stop
[2:21:13]
and actually talk to each other. What
[2:21:16]
I've come to down Dearbornne for to talk
[2:21:19]
about is the First Amendment because
[2:21:21]
it's important for everybody in this
[2:21:23]
room, everybody across our great
[2:21:24]
country. It doesn't matter where your
[2:21:26]
beliefs come from. It doesn't matter
[2:21:28]
where you come from. It depends on how
[2:21:31]
you treat all of our rights. The first
[2:21:34]
amendment says you have the right to
[2:21:37]
freedom of speech. A lot of people
[2:21:38]
showed up outside. I seen anger and
[2:21:41]
bitterness on both sides. I've seen
[2:21:43]
people on both sides
[2:21:45]
instigating. Didn't need to be as far as
[2:21:48]
coming down and not having your rights
[2:21:50]
violated.
[2:21:52]
Do I really believe that Jack Long or
[2:21:56]
Jake Long, however you say it, I don't
[2:21:58]
even know the guy's name truthfully,
[2:21:59]
very well. But what happened with him
[2:22:02]
getting hit? He wasn't trying to fight.
[2:22:06]
Somebody hit him. It doesn't matter
[2:22:08]
which side you're on, whether you like
[2:22:10]
his belief or somebody else's. Nobody
[2:22:13]
deserves to get attacked. That's what it
[2:22:16]
comes down to. And then when once it
[2:22:18]
happened and there's video everywhere,
[2:22:21]
you know, people chasing him down as the
[2:22:23]
one gentleman mentioned earlier. It
[2:22:25]
wasn't just one person. It started with
[2:22:27]
one person and then the mob effect
[2:22:30]
happened and then they started chasing
[2:22:32]
him. Then he ended up in a car and they
[2:22:34]
were trying to get him out of the car.
[2:22:35]
Yes, he ended up getting to safety,
[2:22:38]
getting put to jail. Well, as you said,
[2:22:40]
a couple other people got arrested, but
[2:22:42]
more people were involved than that. And
[2:22:44]
with our first amendment rights, if we
[2:22:46]
don't follow and use our videos and use
[2:22:48]
what we have to make sure all the people
[2:22:51]
that were involved got arrested,
[2:22:54]
that makes all of us unsafe because that
[2:22:57]
moment when it happens and it turns out
[2:22:59]
to be you.
[2:23:01]
won't be safe. And we all we are all
[2:23:04]
only safe in our country because of our
[2:23:07]
amendment rights. Freedom of religion.
[2:23:10]
I'm a Christian. You know, Muslims are
[2:23:13]
sitting here. Somebody might be from
[2:23:15]
Israel. Somebody could be from Kenya.
[2:23:18]
Somebody could be from South Africa. It
[2:23:20]
doesn't matter. That's what makes
[2:23:22]
America great is you can come here. We
[2:23:24]
can all live on the same block. As a
[2:23:27]
gentleman said, he's an atheist. We
[2:23:29]
should all be able to get along.
[2:23:30]
>> You have 30 seconds remaining. So the
[2:23:32]
important part is to make sure that our
[2:23:34]
amendment rights doesn't get trampled on
[2:23:36]
and that things are followed because if
[2:23:38]
we don't have people in government, the
[2:23:40]
mayor, the police officers, and higher
[2:23:43]
up governors and stuff making sure our
[2:23:46]
amendments are followed because you took
[2:23:49]
an oath, mayor. Am I correct? Which I
[2:23:52]
should be. You know, the police officer
[2:23:55]
took an oath to stand for the
[2:23:57]
constitution to make sure all of us are
[2:23:59]
protected.
[2:24:00]
>> I'm sorry. Your time has expired for all
[2:24:02]
of us to stay protected and everybody's
[2:24:05]
welcome.
[2:24:07]
>> Thank you, sir. Thank you. Appreciate
[2:24:09]
it.
[2:24:11]
[applause]
[2:24:13]
>> All right. Next, we have Leslie Herrick.
[2:24:33]
Good evening, um, Mayor, esteemed city
[2:24:36]
council. Um, thank you for, uh,
[2:24:38]
entertaining my comments this evening.
[2:24:40]
I'm Leslie Herrick. I am the community
[2:24:43]
relations director for the intercultural
[2:24:45]
community center in Dearbornne, which is
[2:24:47]
a nonprofit organization serving
[2:24:49]
Dearborn and Dearborn Heights. Um, its
[2:24:51]
mission is to bring people together to
[2:24:53]
understand each other. um where we come
[2:24:55]
from, where we are today, the things
[2:24:57]
that bond us in unity here. Um there are
[2:25:00]
so many things that we have in common um
[2:25:03]
that outnumber those differences between
[2:25:05]
us and the intercultural community
[2:25:07]
center in Dearbornne seeks to address
[2:25:09]
those. For example, just earlier this
[2:25:11]
year, we had panel discussions on
[2:25:13]
challenges in finding housing,
[2:25:15]
affordable housing. Um we also had a
[2:25:17]
panel discussion on what's on the ballot
[2:25:20]
on the primary ballot. Um, coming up
[2:25:22]
later this year, we have a a community
[2:25:24]
picnic um for Good Neighbor Day, which
[2:25:27]
is in September. It will be celebrated
[2:25:29]
by the Intercultural Community Center in
[2:25:30]
Dearbornne, as well as the city of
[2:25:32]
Dearbornne um which is encouraging
[2:25:34]
neighborhoods to do what we always do.
[2:25:37]
We have um just like across the country
[2:25:39]
and probably more than many cities
[2:25:40]
across the country, we have um
[2:25:43]
neighborhood picnics um block parties
[2:25:45]
that bring people together. no matter
[2:25:47]
where they came from, they ended up on
[2:25:49]
the same street or on the same block and
[2:25:51]
they break bread together. They do um
[2:25:53]
potlucks and family activities,
[2:25:55]
family-friendly uh children's activities
[2:25:58]
across our city. So, these are examples
[2:26:00]
of what what makes Dearborn similar to
[2:26:03]
other cities across the country, but it
[2:26:04]
also makes us unique because of the
[2:26:06]
people that are here. We are here by
[2:26:08]
choice for the most part and we we love
[2:26:11]
our city and we love the diversity that
[2:26:13]
makes us stronger and um some of those
[2:26:16]
things that you see if you come to visit
[2:26:18]
if you're not part of our neighborhoods
[2:26:20]
and going to our picnics or block
[2:26:21]
parties you you would experience if you
[2:26:24]
have not already wonderful food um at
[2:26:27]
many of our restaurants upcoming uh
[2:26:29]
later this fall our coffee month it's a
[2:26:33]
our coffee week and and it's a wonderful
[2:26:35]
time to experience all kinds of
[2:26:37]
different coffee if you are a coffee
[2:26:38]
drinker or even tea um at um many of our
[2:26:42]
coffee houses. Some are are um locally
[2:26:44]
they're locally owned um by different um
[2:26:47]
nationalities. So please come experience
[2:26:50]
some of those activities. Earlier
[2:26:51]
somebody mentioned our farmers market.
[2:26:53]
Again you see those across the country,
[2:26:55]
but ours is special um with the with
[2:26:58]
people that are local here participating
[2:27:00]
um and enjoying the activities or
[2:27:02]
running the booths that are there. Um I
[2:27:04]
just wanted to mention there were a
[2:27:06]
couple things.
[2:27:06]
>> We have 30 seconds remaining.
[2:27:08]
>> Two things that again unite us with
[2:27:10]
around the world. Um we have Rotary Club
[2:27:13]
of Dearbornne. Um Rotary International
[2:27:15]
is a nonprofit organization around the
[2:27:17]
world that brings people together and
[2:27:18]
serves those in need. So thank you for
[2:27:21]
entertaining our little free library. Um
[2:27:24]
it's a partnership between the Rotary
[2:27:25]
Club of Dearbornne and the city of
[2:27:27]
Dearborn. So that was on uh the consent
[2:27:29]
agenda. And then I also wanted to speak
[2:27:31]
about trees. Thank you. Uh for a couple
[2:27:33]
years ago, we activated our cultural I'm
[2:27:36]
sorry, our environmental.
[2:27:37]
>> Sorry, your time has expired.
[2:27:39]
>> And there's a subcommittee that deals
[2:27:40]
with trees. Um and thank you for
[2:27:42]
considering the trees when when um you
[2:27:45]
look at the plans for the sewer
[2:27:47]
separation project.
[2:27:48]
>> Thank you. Appreciate it. Uh Byron
[2:27:51]
Harmon,
[2:27:54]
>> is it? Yeah. I'm sorry. I apologize.
[2:27:55]
Yes.
[2:28:01]
Hello, my name is Brian Harmon. Um, I
[2:28:05]
came to Dearbornne today because I seen
[2:28:09]
a video of a man who was just trying to
[2:28:14]
say Christian things and he got stuff
[2:28:18]
thrown at him and he was attacked. Uh me
[2:28:21]
I I'm not a Christian personally but I
[2:28:26]
have Christian values and I do not want
[2:28:28]
to see anybody attacking my country for
[2:28:32]
just expressing themselves. And um like
[2:28:37]
what happened there was
[2:28:41]
something that I thought I would never
[2:28:42]
see in my country. There's a lot of
[2:28:45]
things that are happening in my country
[2:28:46]
that I thought I'd never see. Like flat
[2:28:48]
cameras and these data centers that are
[2:28:50]
coming and nobody wants this stuff to
[2:28:52]
happen. Like if we want data centers, we
[2:28:54]
should put them in space, not in our
[2:28:55]
oceans, not in our backyards. Um but but
[2:29:00]
what I came here today was because I'm
[2:29:03]
not I don't support Jake Lang. He I
[2:29:05]
believe he's an Israeli PL plant and he
[2:29:09]
[applause] is literally just here to
[2:29:11]
spew hate and I don't See, I don't
[2:29:15]
disagree with everything he says, but he
[2:29:17]
goes at things a very hateful way and he
[2:29:20]
wants to target a certain group. Um,
[2:29:24]
he said that Sharia law is here and is
[2:29:27]
wrong. Jake Lang is wrong. Shri Law is
[2:29:30]
not here and it will never be here
[2:29:31]
because of us young patriots of this
[2:29:33]
country. Um, but I really think a lot of
[2:29:36]
Christians are scared and why like this
[2:29:39]
event could have been so much worse is
[2:29:43]
what's happening in Europe. Like the
[2:29:45]
gentleman said earlier, Christians are
[2:29:47]
being like
[2:29:50]
taken over and like there is a Zionist
[2:29:52]
regime that is trying to wipe out the
[2:29:55]
white population across the world. And I
[2:29:58]
mean look at what's happening even
[2:29:59]
Africa. like Christians have been been
[2:30:01]
slaughtered for years and years and
[2:30:03]
years. Like the militaries have to take
[2:30:04]
action over there because of it. But
[2:30:09]
um fascism is not the problem in
[2:30:11]
America. It's Zionism.
[2:30:14]
And I honestly like there's a lot of
[2:30:16]
people here that talk about Henry Ford
[2:30:18]
and what he believed in, but Henry Ford
[2:30:21]
would be rolling in his grave for what's
[2:30:23]
happened to this country. Like if you
[2:30:25]
look into what Henry Ford believed about
[2:30:27]
the Jews in Zionism, like I bet you it
[2:30:30]
would wake so much people's eyes up to
[2:30:33]
this. Um
[2:30:34]
>> you have 30 seconds.
[2:30:36]
>> Thank you. Um yeah, I didn't come here
[2:30:38]
to talk today. Like I came here to just
[2:30:41]
see what was happening because I was
[2:30:43]
afraid what was happening. And uh I
[2:30:47]
talked to both sides and uh everybody
[2:30:49]
agreed that Zionism bad, Muslims and
[2:30:52]
Christians. Well, some Chris K, not
[2:30:54]
most. Not the MAGA people. Um, but
[2:30:58]
that's that's what they want us to be.
[2:31:00]
divided. Zionism is
[2:31:02]
the problem. And that's
[2:31:04]
>> I'm sorry your time is expired.
[2:31:06]
>> Thank you. That's all I want to come
[2:31:06]
here to say.
[2:31:07]
>> Thank you.
[2:31:07]
Zionism.
[2:31:08]
>> Appreciate
[2:31:14]
» Mr. Barham.
[2:31:25]
Ted Baram, Dearborn resident.
[2:31:28]
A lot of the problems that we are seeing
[2:31:31]
here today
[2:31:32]
uh started uh from something that
[2:31:36]
happened last year where I objected to a
[2:31:39]
street sign and then the uh mayor um
[2:31:42]
told me I'm not welcome here and he'll
[2:31:44]
throw a parade when I uh leave the city
[2:31:48]
and later uh spread defamation about me
[2:31:52]
um in conjunction with others in the
[2:31:54]
ArabAmerican news and in Alazer era and
[2:31:58]
in the Guardian newspaper uh scurless
[2:32:01]
and ridiculous uh defamation.
[2:32:04]
Uh that street sign is named after a
[2:32:06]
journalist who says that the most
[2:32:08]
important thing that he's ever done he
[2:32:10]
continues to maintain is when he uh led
[2:32:14]
the crowd here in Dearborn paying homage
[2:32:16]
to the leader of Hezbollah and of course
[2:32:20]
Hezbollah
[2:32:21]
um bombed uh to death hundreds of
[2:32:24]
Americans in Beirut.
[2:32:27]
Um, now that's not just an isolated
[2:32:30]
incident. That's that's the thing. Uh,
[2:32:31]
it's representative of bigger problems.
[2:32:34]
Uh, imams in the biggest uh mosques uh
[2:32:38]
in Dearbornne and Dearborn Heights uh
[2:32:41]
praise the Iranian regime uh which has
[2:32:44]
caused so much oppression uh to so many
[2:32:47]
people. It's killed hundreds of
[2:32:49]
thousands of people directly and through
[2:32:51]
proxies.
[2:32:53]
and my fellow Christians in Iran, which
[2:32:56]
is a great concern to me, are extremely
[2:32:59]
persecuted there in Iran. Um, so these
[2:33:02]
are legitimate concerns that we have and
[2:33:05]
I don't think it should be controversial
[2:33:07]
to raise these concerns.
[2:33:10]
Um,
[2:33:12]
Jewish people, uh, you can paint a rosy
[2:33:15]
picture of Dearborn. Jewish people are
[2:33:16]
terrified of coming to Dearbornne. Uh,
[2:33:18]
I've talked to multiple Jewish people
[2:33:20]
who said that.
[2:33:23]
Um,
[2:33:24]
also my fear was uh was justified. I
[2:33:27]
said he's spreading violence. He's he he
[2:33:30]
could be interpreted as spreading
[2:33:31]
violence in Michigan. And then a few
[2:33:34]
months later, somebody attacked a
[2:33:36]
synagogue full of 140 small children uh
[2:33:39]
in West Bloomfield.
[2:33:42]
Uh so these are legitimate concerns.
[2:33:45]
At the same time, I'm embarrassed uh
[2:33:47]
with uh Jake Lang's so-called
[2:33:50]
Christianity, this fake Christianity,
[2:33:51]
which many people have said. I hope this
[2:33:53]
doesn't put my Muslim friends off
[2:33:55]
Christianity because that's not that's not real Christianity.
[2:33:59]
Christ,
[2:33:59]
>> you have 30 seconds remaining.
[2:34:01]
>> represents love.
[2:34:03]
Um I do want to say just a couple more
[2:34:06]
things. First of all, uh I'm not racist
[2:34:08]
and I I want to discourage that as well.
[2:34:11]
I have dear Arab friends. I was speaking
[2:34:13]
in Arabic uh church on sun uh this
[2:34:15]
weekend. Uh, and the last thing I want
[2:34:18]
to say, giving credit where it's due, is
[2:34:20]
when we had an Israeli Jewish man who
[2:34:23]
came to Dearbornne to Peace Park West, I
[2:34:26]
appreciate how when there was a threat
[2:34:28]
and I contacted the FBI, the Dearborn
[2:34:30]
police came out in full force to protect
[2:34:32]
him
[2:34:34]
>> uh to speak about the tragic loss of his
[2:34:36]
son who was murdered in Washington DC
[2:34:38]
and he spoke in love and in compassion
[2:34:40]
to people in Dearborn who are
[2:34:42]
experiencing loss. So, I want to give
[2:34:44]
credit where it's due to the Dearborn
[2:34:45]
Police and the Dear Dearborn government
[2:34:47]
for helping in that situation. Thank you
[2:34:50]
very much.
[2:34:50]
>> Thank you, sir. All right. Uh, Mr.
[2:34:53]
Clerk, is there any more cards?
[2:34:55]
>> No more cards. All right. At that time,
[2:34:56]
we will conclude our public uh comment
[2:34:58]
portion. Is there a motion to adjurnn?
[2:35:01]
We are have a motion by Councilman
[2:35:03]
Alawi. We are adjourned.
