[2:35] of allegiance of the United States of

[2:37] America.

[3:13] to be here again. My name is Jerry

[3:15] Riando and I serve as pastor of Grace

[3:17] Presbyterian Church in Dearborn. Thank

[3:20] you so much for having me. Let's pray.

[3:23] Almighty God, thank you for the members

[3:25] of the city council before me. I thank

[3:28] you for the fact that you have raised

[3:30] them up to lead this city to sacrifice

[3:33] for this city and to love the city. God,

[3:37] we thank you for each member of this

[3:38] council and I would pray that you would

[3:41] bring blessing to them in their

[3:42] individual lives. I pray that you would

[3:45] bless their families and give them

[3:47] health and protection. We know that most

[3:50] of them work outside of these council

[3:52] chambers. And so I pray that you would

[3:54] bless the work of their hands and make

[3:56] their labor fruitful.

[3:58] The most important prayer that I can

[4:01] pray for them this evening is this. I

[4:03] pray that you would draw each of them

[4:05] closer and closer to yourself and that

[4:08] they would come to know you more and understand your immeasurable

[4:13] love that you offer both tonight and all

[4:16] the days of their lives.

[4:18] Lord, we know that there is a great deal

[4:21] of work before council this even some of

[4:23] it is complex. Some of it is tedious.

[4:27] Some of it is emotionally charged. Most

[4:30] of it affects the lives of thousands of

[4:31] people. On some matters there is

[4:34] unonyimity.

[4:36] On others disagreement. And so my prayer

[4:39] this evening for this council is that

[4:41] you would grant them wisdom. In James

[4:44] chapter 1, you give us an astounding

[4:46] promise that when we lack wisdom, we We

[4:48] ask you and you give generously. And so

[4:51] we do that just now. Please God, grant

[4:53] these men wisdom. Grant them patience

[4:56] and understanding and forbearance.

[4:59] Grant these things so that they can

[5:01] effectively do what you have called them

[5:03] to do, which is to lead and love the

[5:05] city. God, we know we can ask these

[5:08] things of you because no matter how much

[5:09] we love the city, and we do, we know

[5:12] that you love the city and her people

[5:14] even more. We desire her well.

[5:54] unanimously offering condolences to

[5:57] family of Ronnie L. Chandler and

[5:59] requesting immediate effect.

[6:00] >> Thank you, Mr. Clerk. We are deeply

[6:02] saddened by the past passing of Ronnie

[6:05] Chandler, a resident of Dearborn,

[6:07] Michigan, who was born on July 16th,

[6:08] 1944, and passed away on July 28th of

[6:12] this year at the age of 82 years old.

[6:14] Ron leaves behind his beloved wife

[6:15] Sandy, his children Amanda, Bridget,

[6:18] Katie, and Megan, his grandchildren, and

[6:20] many family members and friends who will

[6:23] ever forever cherish his memory. After

[6:26] attending Fortune High School, Ron's

[6:27] love for baseball led him to pursue a

[6:29] professional career as a pitcher from

[6:31] 1963 to 1970. Played in the minor

[6:34] leagues for several teams, uh,

[6:36] dedicating himself to a sport that he

[6:38] loved. Following his baseball career,

[6:41] uh, Ron uh, briefly worked in the

[6:43] drywall industry before returning to

[6:45] school in 1976 where he went on to earn

[6:47] his bachelor's degree from the Wayne

[6:49] State University. After graduating, Ron

[6:51] built a successful career as a financial

[6:53] adviser for Sigma Financial. He was a

[6:56] dedicated to helping others plan for

[6:57] their futures and was respected by his

[7:00] colleagues and clients for his

[7:01] integrity, wisdom, genuine commitment to

[7:04] helping others succeed. Above all, Ron

[7:07] cherished his family. He and he shared

[7:09] an extraordinary marriage with his

[7:11] beloved wife Sandy, a testament to a

[7:13] lifetime of love, devotion, and an

[7:15] unwavering commitment to family. Ron

[7:18] also had a gift of of finding joy in the

[7:21] simple pleasure such as a fresh cup of

[7:22] coffee, a good meal with his loved ones,

[7:25] and of course, watching a baseball game

[7:26] and enjoying his nearby golf game. Uh

[7:29] Ronnie Chandler uh will be remembered as

[7:31] a man who who found happiness in every

[7:34] moment in everyday moments and took

[7:36] great pleasure in sharing those moments

[7:38] with people that he cared about. His

[7:40] legacy lives on through the family uh

[7:42] his family members that he cherished and

[7:45] the many many lives that he touched with

[7:47] kindness, integrity, generosity

[7:51] and uh quiet leadership. We extend our

[7:54] deepest condolences to Sandy, his

[7:57] children, grandchildren, extended

[7:58] families, friends, and to all that had

[8:00] the privilege of knowing Mr. Chandler,

[8:02] as I always called him. And uh on a

[8:05] personal note, his wife uh taught uh

[8:07] every one of my children through uh

[8:09] elementary school. Tremendous people uh

[8:12] that u believed in hard work, paying

[8:15] your dues, respecting others, and living

[8:18] a clean, honest life. Tremendous man.

[8:20] And um we we uh may he rest in and

[8:24] eternal peace. A unanimous role shall be

[16:36] clearly. Dearbornne is America. The

[16:40] Constitution of the United States is the

[16:42] highest law of the land, not the law of

[16:44] any religion. It protects every one of

[16:47] us, whether we pray in a mosque, a

[16:49] church, a synagogue, or somewhere else.

[16:52] To those who came to Dearborn looking to

[16:54] spread fear and division, I say to you,

[16:57] come see the real Darbone. Look at our

[16:59] neighborhoods, our businesses, our

[17:01] schools, in our houses of worship. You

[17:03] will see people from different

[17:05] backgrounds living, working, worshiping,

[17:07] and raising their families together. You

[17:09] will see a nativity tradition that has

[17:11] been part of this great community for

[17:13] more than 70 years. You will see

[17:15] businesses selling pork products. You

[17:17] will see religious freedom in action.

[17:20] That is not Sharia Allah. That is

[17:22] America. And those who came here

[17:25] intending to desecrate the Quran to

[17:27] provoke or insult our community.

[22:34] He first went to Christianity but the

[22:37] schism the differences between Rome and

[22:41] uh Orthodox Eastern Orthodox made him

[22:50] to defer from it too because his people

[22:51] love drinking vodka. So he looked at

[39:28] Shik Hasham who uh we put together the

[39:32] Arbine Festival which is the festival

[39:35] that honors Imam Hussein. And the reason

[39:38] I got involved, I'm I'm an Irish

[39:39] Catholic. Reason I got involved is

[39:41] there's a lot of mixing between

[39:43] Christians and Muslims throughout

[39:45] history. In fact, if you study Imm

[39:48] Hussein's story, he was a he was a hero

[39:50] that stood up against an evil caliphate

[39:52] and uh gave up all riches and defended

[39:56] truth and honor and lost his life

[39:58] because of it. That's what everybody was

[40:01] celebrating. They honored this man every

[40:03] year annually. And I was proud to be a

[40:06] part of this event now through my

[40:08] organization bringing Christians and

[40:10] Muslims together. And I want to say

[44:08] a story regarding a moment that happened

[44:10] earlier today. Um, I was out on one of

[44:14] our neighborhood walks. And for those

[44:15] who follow me on social media or follow

[44:17] the work of the city, we do many of

[44:18] neighborhood walks week in and week out,

[44:20] especially throughout the summer. It was

[44:22] an ordinary morning in Dearborn, just

[44:23] like any other day. Residents were

[44:25] outside. We're talking about sidewalks

[44:27] and tree stumps and property maintenance

[44:30] issues, all the things that make up the

[44:33] everyday work of building a city. And

[44:36] while we were at the park, a group of

[44:38] children walked up and amongst them was

[44:40] a young boy, not older than six or

[44:43] seven. and he looked at me and he asked

[44:47] if the quote unquote crusaders that were

[44:50] coming were coming to kill him.

[44:53] And I paused. I I paused longer than I

[44:57] probably should have, long enough for

[44:58] the neighborhood police officer that was

[45:00] with us to actually interject and to

[45:02] assure the young child that he would be

[45:04] safe, that he should go about his day

[45:05] and enjoy the park like he would any

[45:07] other day. I paused because I never

[45:10] expected that question.

[45:12] And as a father, I I haven't been able

[45:15] to stop thinking about it.

[45:17] Children that age should be thinking

[45:19] about what game they're going to the

[45:21] park to play.

[45:23] They should be thinking about whether

[45:24] they can have another scoop of ice cream

[45:26] at the end of the night. They should be

[45:28] wondering if they'll get an extra hour

[45:30] before time for bed. They should not be

[45:33] wondering whether someone wants to kill

[45:34] them because of how their family prays.

[45:38] But our children are listening. They

[45:40] hear our conversations. They see the

[45:42] headlines and they notice when their

[45:44] parents are worried. And that little boy

[45:47] reminded me that what is happening

[45:48] outside is not just political theater.

[45:52] Fear has consequences.

[45:55] So tonight, I want to speak directly to

[45:57] him. And I want to speak to every

[45:59] resident of Dearbornne who has felt that

[46:01] fear. I want to boldly say that you

[46:05] belong here. That you belong here as

[46:07] much as anyone else. And generations of

[46:10] people who built this city prove it.

[46:13] Dearbornne was built by people with

[46:15] different names, different accents,

[46:17] different traditions, and different ways

[46:19] of worshiping God. Some traced their

[46:22] roots here generations. Others arrived

[46:24] with little more than a suitcase and

[46:26] hope. They worked the assembly lines.

[46:29] They opened small businesses. They

[46:31] taught our children. They have served

[46:33] our country. They built houses of

[46:35] worship. They built homes next to people

[46:38] who did not look like them. And

[46:39] somewhere along the way, strangers

[46:41] became neighbors. They shared a meal

[46:43] across the fence line. That is

[46:45] Dearbornne. And that is the story of

[46:48] America.

[46:49] Yesterday, I stood alongside Christian

[46:51] clergy from across our city. People

[46:54] whose theological traditions may be

[46:56] different, but whose message yesterday

[46:58] was remarkably similar. Love thy

[47:00] neighbor. Care for the vulnerable. Feed

[47:03] the hungry. Welcome the st the stranger.

[47:07] and stand against hatred. Dearborn is

[47:10] home to more than 30 churches and

[47:12] roughly a dozen mosques. And each and

[47:14] every single week, tens of thousands of

[47:16] people walk through those doors to

[47:18] participate with their congregations.

[47:20] They may pray differently, but they pray

[47:23] for many of the same things. for their

[47:25] children to be safe, for their families

[47:28] to be healthy, for peace, for justice,

[47:32] for dignity, for the strength to leave

[47:35] this world a little better than they

[47:37] inherited it. So when people portray

[47:40] Dearbornne as some place that have been

[47:41] overtaken by Muslims, they aren't simply

[47:44] attacking our Muslim and Arab

[47:45] communities. They're also trying to

[47:47] erase our Christian brothers and sisters

[47:49] who have contributed immeasurably to the

[47:51] city and folks of other faith of other

[47:54] backgrounds or of no faith at all who

[47:56] have all contributed to the Dearborn

[47:58] that we all love and cherish today. And

[48:00] ultimately they're attacking something

[48:02] much larger than any one faith or

[48:04] community. They are attacking the idea

[48:07] that all of us can belong to America at

[48:10] the same time.

[48:11] There are people outside tonight whose

[48:14] idea of America is much smaller than

[48:16] ours. An America where belonging comes

[48:19] with conditions. Where your name

[48:21] matters. Where your ancestry matters.

[48:24] Where the direction which you pray

[48:25] somehow determines whether you are

[48:27] sufficiently American. I reject that

[48:29] vision for our country. Because what

[48:32] matters is not the articles of your

[48:34] faith. What matters is the content of

[48:36] your character, the kindness in your

[48:38] heart. Do you provide for your family?

[48:41] Do you check in on your neighbor? Do you

[48:44] help someone when they're struggling?

[48:46] And do you leave your community better

[48:47] than how you found it? Those are the

[48:49] things by which we should measure one

[48:51] another. I've always believed that there

[48:54] is something exceptional about the

[48:56] American experiment. Not because

[48:58] Americans are inherently better than

[49:00] anybody else, but because of the

[49:02] audacity of the promise that we have all

[49:04] made to one another. that people could

[49:06] come here from every corner of the earth

[49:09] carrying different stories and

[49:10] traditions, worshiping God differently

[49:13] or not at all and somehow build one

[49:16] country together.

[49:17] That promise has never been perfectly

[49:19] fulfilled. But every generation has had

[49:22] to fight to make it more real. And now

[49:24] it is our turn to carry on that fight.

[49:27] Tonight, the choice before us is

[49:30] actually quite simple. We can allow fear

[49:33] to make our lives smaller or we can

[49:36] allow community to make us stronger.

[49:39] I know some families are afraid right

[49:41] now. Many families have reached out and

[49:43] told me how they have changed their

[49:44] plans for the day. Practices for youth

[49:48] football has been cancelled. My daughter

[49:50] was not taken to daycare today. Some

[49:53] parents kept their children at home who

[49:55] wanted them a little closer. Some

[49:57] residents decided not to open up their

[49:58] business stores today because of the

[50:00] events unfolding. And I understand that

[50:27] soccer. Grab coffee with a friend. Fire

[50:30] up that grill and open up your business

[50:31] tomorrow morning. Sit on the porch with

[50:34] your neighbor. Break bread and share in

[50:36] that meal. Visit your parents. Go to

[50:38] church on Sunday. Go to the synagogue on

[50:41] Saturday. Go to the mosque on Friday. Or

[50:43] sit at home. Pray exactly as you have

[50:46] always prayed. Don't bother changing for

[50:49] anyone because the greatest victory we

[50:51] can hand those who seek to divide us

[50:53] would be allowing them to convince us to

[50:55] be afraid of being ourselves. and we

[50:58] will not give them that victory.

[51:00] Instead, we're going to do what Dearborn

[51:02] has always done. We're going to keep

[51:04] opening our doors because one of the

[51:07] most powerful antidotes to fear is

[51:09] simply knowing one another. I've met

[51:11] people over the years who have come to

[51:13] Dearbornne genuinely nervous. They have

[51:16] watched something on television. They've

[51:18] read something online or followed some

[51:20] of the comedians that were here earlier,

[51:22] heard someone describe the city as a

[51:24] place that they should fear. And then

[51:25] they came here. They walked our

[51:27] neighborhoods. They met our residents.

[51:30] Someone welcomed them welcomed them into

[51:32] their businesses. Someone started the

[51:34] conference. And ultimately, as is the

[51:36] tradition in Dearborn, put a meal in

[51:38] front of them. And somewhere between

[51:40] that first handshake and the last bite

[51:41] of that meal, something changed. The

[51:44] caricature of who we are disappeared and

[51:47] dissipated because a stranger became a

[51:51] person. and fear gave away to

[51:53] understanding because hatred needs

[51:56] distance.

[51:58] It needs us to remain strangers.

[52:01] Community closes that distance. So to

[52:03] anyone watching tonight who doesn't know

[52:05] Dearbornne but thinks they know

[52:07] Dearbornne, I have an invitation for

[52:09] you. Come visit us. Come experience this

[56:12] the data centers would be instead

[56:14] permitted in the industrial D, which is

[56:17] general industrial district where all

[56:19] uses are not expressly prohibited by the

[1:12:14] approximately $30,100. They're

[1:12:16] requesting immediate effect. Any

[1:16:25] friend and a tremendous um individual

[1:16:27] who's also on our planning commission,

[1:16:30] was elected vice president of the Kresge

[1:16:32] Foundation, and we wanted to recognize

[1:16:34] that for her. It's a tremendous, event.

[1:16:44] community access, uh we have a

[1:16:47] retirement by Mrs. Mah over 35 years. If

[1:16:50] some of you guys ever watch a YouTube

[1:16:52] video, you'll see her as a very very

[1:16:54] young lady uh when access began in the

[1:16:56] south end of Dearbornne uh in the late

[1:17:00] 70s. Uh 35 years she is retiring. We

[1:17:02] like and to be said her dream um and

[1:17:06] fulfillment which hopefully will be

[1:17:07] coming at the end of this month or next

[1:17:09] month. new access treatment, drug and

[1:17:11] rehabilitation treatment center in our

[1:17:12] city of Dearborn on Michigan Avenue in

[1:17:15] the east Dearborn side near Wyoming uh

[1:17:17] will be realized because of her um her

[1:17:19] tremendous work. I'd like to also

[1:17:21] recognize Lena Haraji, a personal friend

[1:17:24] of mine, classmate uh that is taking

[1:17:26] over as the next CEO. Uh she has been

[1:17:28] working with Access for at least 15 to

[1:17:30] 20 years. Tremendous job. Um it's great

[1:17:33] to see organizations that have planned

[1:17:35] secessions and and have a real plan. and

[1:17:37] they're doing tremendous work at access

[1:17:38] and would like to recognize both those

[1:17:40] ladies. We also have one of our bright uh people

[1:17:48] from our school systems, Mesa Ali Bazzy

[1:17:51] um who was recently tooken from our

[1:17:53] school system like many of them do and

[1:17:55] to go to the state boards and she is

[1:17:57] going to be ex being um appointed or

[1:18:00] working been uh been appointed to work

[1:18:02] as the chief deputy of the Michigan

[1:18:04] Department of Education. is a tremendous

[1:18:05] honor to have our school system people

[1:18:08] uh continue to move up into the state

[1:18:11] and it just shows you what uh kind of

[1:18:12] work has been done in here in Dearmore.

[1:18:14] So I'd like to make sure we recognize

[1:18:16] that as well. Thank you.

[1:19:25] here. After tonight, Dearbornne will

[1:19:28] once again go viral. The clips of us in

[1:19:30] our city are already being cut, and once

[1:19:32] again, our city will be shown to

[1:19:33] millions of people who have never set a

[1:19:35] foot in it. While the eyes of the

[1:19:36] country are on us, I'd rather they see

[1:19:38] something positive than what those

[1:19:40] filled with hate brought them here to

[1:19:41] see. Dearborn is a city full of

[1:19:43] remarkable people. We have doctors,

[1:19:45] lawyers, engineers, business owners,

[1:19:47] tradesmen, and families who put each

[1:19:49] other first. If you are looking for

[1:19:51] proof of the American dream, you do not

[1:19:52] have to look past the city of Dearorn.

[1:19:55] Understand what these men are. They are

[1:19:57] not activists and they are not

[1:19:58] preachers. They are merchants whose only

[1:20:01] good to sell is fear.

[1:20:03] It's a cheap product and it contains an

[1:20:05] enormous margin. It requires no

[1:20:08] evidence, no argument and no

[1:20:09] acquaintance whatsoever with the person

[1:20:10] whom it's sold against. And it asks of

[1:20:12] you only one thing that you look at a

[1:20:14] neighbor and you agree to see a

[1:20:16] stranger. While we are busy buying fear

[1:20:18] from these men, nobody's asking why a

[1:20:20] family working hard cannot afford a home

[1:20:22] or a doctor. Let me leave you with this

[1:20:24] one statement. In a republic, the power

[1:20:27] does not descend from a throne. It rises

[1:20:29] from us, the people. That is the whole

[1:20:31] of our strength, but it is also exactly

[1:20:32] our weakness. Because a people who can

[1:20:34] be persuaded can also just as easil

[1:20:35] easily be deceived. Every lie that a

[1:20:38] nation accepts for long enough becomes

[1:20:40] the law that it lives under. Our defense

[1:20:42] here in Dearbornne has never been anger,

[1:20:43] nor has it ever been silence. It's been

[1:20:45] education. Learn a thing before you

[1:20:47] repeat it. Meet a person before you fear

[1:20:49] them. And judge men and women by their

[1:20:50] character, because that is the only

[1:20:52] measure that has been and ever will be

[1:20:53] fair. Hate is loud, but it's fragile. It

[1:20:56] survives only when nobody bothers to

[1:20:57] check where it comes from. Thank you.

[1:21:36] As you can hear, my voice is raspy

[1:21:37] because I was out there protesting

[1:21:38] against agitators and unamericans who

[1:21:41] come to Dearborn and spread fear.

[1:21:44] This [clears throat] country was believe

[1:21:45] was founded on the belief of freedom of

[1:21:47] religious sorry. This country was

[1:21:50] founded on the belief of freedom from

[1:21:52] religious persecution like liberty and

[1:21:53] the pursuit of happiness in which our

[1:21:55] country was founded on and Dearborn as

[1:21:57] the epide epitome of what America is

[1:21:59] when it was America when it was America

[1:22:02] that was attacked in Pearl Harbor. It

[1:22:04] was the ArabAmerican population that

[1:22:05] picked up the racks that jobs that

[1:22:08] fought against fascism that fought

[1:22:10] against fascists in Nazi Germany.

[1:22:13] Though defeated in 1945, fascism hasn't

[1:22:16] been rooted out and it's very evident

[1:22:18] today. our people aren't any less

[1:22:20] American than the next. So why is it

[1:22:22] that these fascists come to Dearbornne,

[1:22:24] preach on Sharia law while being the

[1:22:26] same group that has invalidated the the

[1:22:28] democratic processes and attempted to

[1:22:30] storm the capital of the United States

[1:22:32] in which we each contribute to our

[1:22:34] country, to our nation, to its culture,

[1:22:36] to its history, to its promises. Our

[1:22:38] people refused to take a moral lashing

[1:22:40] from people who wave the Nazi flags.

[1:22:42] Americans died to fight off and against.

[1:22:45] From people who voted to a man who

[1:22:48] bombed a Iranian school girl, killing

[1:22:51] over 10 girls. From Epsteiners and

[1:22:54] January 6ers, our country, our city, our

[1:22:57] county won't bow down to people who wish

[1:23:00] to spread fear. Our country is built

[1:23:03] upon the promise of America. And like

[1:23:06] everyone here who has spoken, this is

[1:23:08] what the promise of America is. cultural

[1:23:11] acceptance, freedom, the pursuit of

[1:23:14] happiness and religion. We won't be

[1:23:17] religiously persecuted, and we won't be

[1:23:19] made out to be victims, even if we are

[1:23:22] the target of the United States. God

[1:23:24] bless the United States, and God bless

[1:23:26] the city of Dearbornne.

[1:24:15] in the room, thank God, but I want to

[1:24:18] speak just to the kids in Dearbornne

[1:24:21] today.

[1:24:25] I know it's a scary time.

[1:24:29] I was a kid once here in Dearbornne and

[1:24:32] felt really scared because there was

[1:24:34] this thing that was happening. There was

[1:24:36] a guy who kept showing up in the city

[1:24:39] and he was obsessed. It seemed like he

[1:24:41] was obsessed with Dearborn. He kept

[1:24:42] burning a Quran for some reason and it

[1:24:45] made me feel very scared.

[1:24:48] But the advice that I got from my mom

[1:24:51] and my dad and my sister was that here

[1:24:54] in Dearbornne, some people come and go.

[1:24:58] But those folks, especially the ones

[1:25:00] that are trying to divide us, they don't

[1:25:02] know us. They don't live here. We live

[1:25:04] here. They will come and go and we will

[1:25:09] remain.

[1:25:10] The beauty of Dearbornne, the strength

[1:25:13] of Dearborn, the strength of our region

[1:25:16] here in southeastern Michigan is our

[1:25:19] diversity.

[1:25:20] I kept my head down.

[1:25:23] I ended up growing up and working at the

[1:25:26] highest levels of our government. One

[1:25:28] day I was working in the United States

[1:25:30] capital and there was a small group of

[1:25:33] people who had a very narrow idea of

[1:25:36] what America is and who belongs in

[1:25:39] America that came.

[1:25:41] You might read about it at school. It

[1:25:43] was on January 6th of 2021.

[1:25:46] I was inside the capital working for a

[1:25:48] member of Congress defending our

[1:25:51] democracy, trying to certify an election

[1:25:53] on that day. And there was a small group

[1:25:55] of people that didn't want our democracy

[1:25:58] to survive. They wanted to promote the

[1:26:00] politics of division. One of those

[1:26:02] people is the same guy who now is

[1:26:05] showing up to Dearborn trying to say

[1:26:08] that he's against just one religion. The

[1:26:10] reality is that guy and a whole lot of

[1:26:14] people like him,

[1:26:14] >> you have 30 seconds remaining.

[1:26:16] >> It's actually a very small number of

[1:26:18] people.

[1:26:19] >> They're not attacking a religion.

[1:26:21] They're attacking an idea of America

[1:26:22] that includes all of us. And so when

[1:26:25] this guy and this distraction comes and

[1:26:27] goes, we will be here and you will grow

[1:26:30] up to continue strengthening one of the

[1:26:33] most beautiful cities in the world

[1:26:34] that's led by incredible people like our

[1:26:37] mayor who I'm so proud of. Thank you,

[1:26:39] Mr. Mayor, for your leadership today. It

[1:26:42] really means a lot to me.

[1:27:00] C council. Uh, my name is Al Ani. I am a

[1:27:04] lifelong resident of the city. Nine

[1:27:06] months ago, I stood at the same

[1:27:07] microphone on a day when two very

[1:27:09] different visitors came to Dearbornne.

[1:27:12] One came carrying every fear the

[1:27:14] internet had sold him. He walked our

[1:27:16] streets. He sat in our mosques. He spoke

[1:27:18] with our neighbors. and he left the city

[1:27:20] a changed man. He admitted out loud what

[1:27:23] few are brave enough to say that he had

[1:27:26] been lied to. In place of the danger he

[1:27:29] was promised, he found hospital uh

[1:27:31] hospitality.

[1:27:32] He found dignity and he found a people

[1:27:34] who treat a a stranger as if he he was

[1:27:37] already a neighbor. The other group came

[1:27:40] for none of that. They came to shout.

[1:27:42] They came to film. They came to be seen.

[1:27:45] And to them I said then and I'll say it

[1:27:47] again tonight. Our table is still set.

[1:27:50] There is a seat for you. There is a

[1:27:52] plate of shawarma, a glass of Yemeni

[1:27:54] tea. You don't know, you don't have to

[1:27:56] agree with a single thing we believe to

[1:27:57] break bread with us. And the invitation

[1:28:00] still stands even tonight, even as

[1:28:02] another so-called crusade is organized

[1:28:04] at our doorstep. But some of the people

[1:28:07] whom who most need to hear this these

[1:28:09] words will never walk into this chamber.

[1:28:11] So So tonight, let me speak past this

[1:28:13] room to those who hold real power over

[1:28:15] what happens next in 2024. I endorsed

[1:28:18] Donald Trump for president. I was wrong.

[1:28:20] I have never hidden it. I said so

[1:28:22] plainly then and I'll say it again now

[1:28:23] in front of my neighbors. I let my grief

[1:28:26] over Gaza lead me to a decision I

[1:28:28] regret. I own that mistake and because I

[1:28:30] own it, I have earned the right to say

[1:28:32] what comes next. Mr. President, the man

[1:28:35] leading this march walks free because of

[1:28:37] you. Your pardon gave him back his

[1:28:39] liberty. And he has chosen to spend that

[1:28:41] liberty targeting target targeting a

[1:28:43] city whose own voters helped return you

[1:28:45] to office. We did not come to you out of

[1:28:47] blind loyalty. We came because we were

[1:28:50] tired. Tired of the two parties that

[1:28:52] seemed to answer to the same distant

[1:28:54] interests. You asked for our trust. We

[1:28:57] gave it. And in our hour of need, you've

[1:28:59] given us silence. One sentence from you

[1:29:02] would end this. Condemn the march. When

[1:29:05] a Muslim nation gave you a gift of a

[1:29:07] plane, there was no out outrage. But

[1:29:09] when the same community asked only to be

[1:29:11] left in peace in its own hometown, your

[1:29:13] silence is louder than any bullhorn on

[1:29:15] the streets. And to the Republicans who

[1:29:18] just won their primaries, John James,

[1:29:19] Mike Rogers, and the rest of the ticket,

[1:29:21] I have a word for you, too. You want to

[1:29:23] govern the state, you want to carry

[1:29:25] Michigan's voice to Washington, then

[1:29:26] hear me clearly. Dearborn is Michigan.

[1:29:29] If you are the tireless workers you

[1:29:31] claim to be on the campaign trail, 30

[1:29:32] seconds remaining, then work for the

[1:29:33] people of this country, not for the

[1:29:35] spread of Islamophobia, not at the

[1:29:36] command of any foreign lobby. Thomas Massie has shown what a that a

[1:29:41] Republican can put his nation first and

[1:29:43] stand firm under pressure. If you cannot

[1:29:45] bring yourself to say one plain sentence

[1:29:47] that you do not want a crusade in

[1:29:48] Michigan, then you already have told

[1:29:50] every family in the city exactly how

[1:29:51] little we are worth to you. Now, let me

[1:29:53] be clear about the what the January 6th

[1:29:56] convict and those marching behind them

[1:29:57] are really after. They did not come here

[1:29:59] for conversation. They came to provoke

[1:30:01] us to film our reaction time

[1:30:03] >> and to turn our anger into division into

[1:30:05] and to carry our division home like a

[1:30:06] trophy. Their whole livelihoods depend

[1:31:52] Jake Lang. Cam Higgby was assaulted.

[1:32:00] saying they wanted to murder him and

[1:32:04] mayor loves to talk about the pig's head

[1:32:08] festival when that man brought that pig

[1:32:10] head. What the mayor does not talk about

[1:32:12] is that there was a group of angry young

[1:32:14] Muslim men who assaulted that man

[1:32:16] bleeding profusely and the police

[1:32:19] arrested that man instead of those

[1:32:21] people. They didn't talk to any one of

[1:32:23] those young people. They arrested that

[1:32:25] man and said if he came back he would be

[1:32:27] permanently arrested. I myself have had

[1:32:29] rocks thrown at me. Called an F Agot

[1:32:33] white

[1:32:35] I went to the police to report it. They

[1:32:37] said they they did everything they could

[1:32:38] to talk me out of reporting that. They I

[1:32:41] had to go do my own work, get my own

[1:32:43] surveillance uh uh footage from the Tim

[1:32:46] Hortons. The guy knew everybody in the

[1:32:48] store. He knew the assistant manager and

[1:32:50] yet nothing was done. All the online

[1:32:53] threats that we talk about that I see

[1:32:55] every week on TCD Dearorn about all the

[1:32:57] threats that are being made against the

[1:32:59] Islamic community. What about the

[1:33:00] threats that are being made by the

[1:33:02] Islamic community? I was I've had

[1:33:04] threats made against me after I opposed

[1:33:07] Israel divestment. It was there was two

[1:33:10] of us in the room in an echo chamber

[1:33:12] full of people who were angry at us

[1:33:14] online afterwards. People were saying

[1:33:16] give us the name of those seconds

[1:33:17] remaining.

[1:54:20] an insult. That's just an honest look at

[1:54:22] fruit at the fruit each of them is

[1:54:23] producing. And it's why you'll find

[1:54:25] plenty of Christians plainly and

[1:54:27] publicly saying they don't recognize

[1:54:29] their own faith in what he's selling. So

[1:54:31] Sharia doesn't exist in the measures

[1:54:33] that you may think here. First of all,

[1:54:34] Sharia means principle, law. Okay? Just

[1:54:36] like Allah literally means God. Sharia

[1:54:39] is simply the principle that we live by

[1:54:41] such as property rights in marriage,

[1:54:43] equality, and accountability. Sharia

[1:54:45] insists that we don't indulge in usery

[1:54:47] and interest. Allah explains the

[1:54:49] inheritance of a family's estate. It's

[1:54:51] the way of life, the true honest way of

[1:54:53] living and that's something crusaders

[1:54:55] are not accustomed to as they are

[1:54:56] accustomed to stealing in a form of

[1:54:58] conquering and terrorizing in the name

[1:55:00] of establishing faith. So my ask of this

[1:55:02] board is very simple. Don't legitimize a

[1:55:05] manufactured threat by treating as a

[1:55:07] real debate. After this Tuesday, I urge

[1:55:09] the board not to entertain this any

[1:55:11] further by agreeing to a board meeting.

[1:56:00] echo with that. I it's just I keep

[1:56:03] hearing this common kind of message of

[1:56:08] of preaching division are people from

[1:56:12] outside Dearbornne. And I've only lived

[1:56:14] in Dearborn seven years myself, but I,

[1:56:18] you know, find it very welcoming. My

[1:56:19] kids have gone to school here. I've

[1:56:21] great schools, great places to eat. It's

[1:56:24] a great community. I've, you know, it's

[1:56:25] safe. Kids can just walk to uh town

[1:56:29] themselves. um the parks and I have to

[1:56:32] say the the recent investment in the

[1:56:34] parks has just been wonderful and like

[1:56:36] the peace park I was there uh for the

[1:56:38] summer market. It's like something out

[1:56:39] of a Hallmark movie and it's you know

[1:56:42] just seeing the community coming

[1:56:43] together and you know like seeing the um

[1:56:47] you know in the summertime with the uh

[1:56:49] World Cup having a televised there's

[1:56:51] just so much that pulls people together

[1:56:53] and all of this you know it's

[1:56:55] developments that you guys have done in

[1:56:57] recent years and I just uh I just don't

[1:57:01] understand the haters and I don't

[1:57:02] understand every time I read any article

[1:57:05] about Dearborn it just people just go

[1:57:09] into the comments. It's always people

[1:57:11] outside of Dearbornne where, you know,

[1:57:13] it's nice, it's refreshing to hear

[1:57:15] everyone from Dearbornne tonight just

[1:57:17] for the most part talking about unity

[1:57:21] and coming together and supporting their

[1:57:32] great Dearbornne is and uh what a great

[1:58:54] fellowship.

[1:58:58] devotion and I appreciate them

[1:59:01] sincerely.

[1:59:05] me how much the Arab community

[1:59:07] contributes positively to the

[1:59:10] Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana region

[1:59:18] businesses, and the kindness he sees

[1:59:20] from many Muslims in our area. I agree

[1:59:24] with him.

[1:59:32] here and to thrive here. But I do wish

[1:59:36] to ask you to consider certain practices

[1:59:40] that history has shown can lead to decay

[1:59:54] the creatures he made suffer as a

[1:59:57] sacrifice to himself like the Islamic

[2:02:50] we talked about how it was the easement

[2:02:56] for clarification. What I understood was

[2:02:58] this was to have an agreement with Ford

[2:03:01] to be able to go back there and it

[2:03:03] didn't have really anything to do with

[2:03:04] the pipes that were being talked about

[2:03:07] with the sewers.

[2:03:11] because it seemed like there was a

[2:03:46] Once that company is selected we'll hire

[2:03:48] an engineering firm. Then the process

[2:03:50] will take about you know 18 months to

[2:03:52] design the actual storm water line that

[2:03:54] will ultimately be installed in across

[2:03:57] southwest Dearborn.

[2:04:03] of mentioned this that we don't want

[2:04:14] love our park as you know um to be

[2:04:17] active in the council meeting so that we

[2:06:04] your agenda is with your items and the

[2:06:07] procedure and the planning, then perhaps

[2:06:10] people would be more motivated to do

[2:06:14] better for all.

[2:06:17] I noticed an agenda item that I'm very

[2:06:19] concerned about and it's in relevance to

[2:06:21] the prop that I have. It is a Arabic

[2:06:25] magazine purchased in New York by my

[2:06:29] great great greatgrandfather.

[2:06:37] It is a a book that is relevance to love

[2:06:40] and prosperity and strength and unity.

[2:07:33] moratorum to put a pause on any possible

[2:07:37] applications that could be submitted to

[2:07:39] allow moratoriums in order for us to

[2:07:41] beef up the laws around data centers

[2:07:43] since we don't have any on our books.

[2:07:45] And so those are the steps being taken

[2:07:46] as pertain to the the the inter the

[2:07:48] storm interceptor line. Um as spoken to

[2:07:51] uh Dr. proctor earlier. Um, this is a

[2:07:53] line that will help reduce flooding in

[2:07:55] people's basements given Dearbornne

[2:07:56] floods heavily when we have heavy rain

[2:07:58] events. And so we did a two-year study

[2:08:01] and the study suggested that we have to

[2:08:03] add an interceptor line in southwest

[2:08:05] Dearborn so that we can sewer separate

[2:08:07] so that the sewage water runs down one

[2:08:09] line and the storm water runs down

[2:08:10] another. It has nothing to do and zero

[2:08:13] implications to any data center.

[2:08:46] with Christians and occupied peacefully

[2:08:49] with Muslims and Christians together and

[2:08:51] the crime rates have ma remained fairly

[2:08:53] stagnant.

[2:08:55] Not so for Europe. Rapes are up over

[2:08:58] 300% to 500% in England, France, and

[2:09:03] Sweden and other European countries that

[2:09:05] have embraced fully embrace Muslim

[2:09:08] immigration.

[2:09:10] And in those same three countries that I

[2:09:12] just listed, Muslims now make up 7 to

[2:09:15] 10% of the total population, which has

[2:09:18] taken place just over these last few

[2:09:20] decades, driving an explosion in sexual

[2:09:22] assaults and rapes. Meanwhile, we can

[2:09:26] take a control group, Poland, which in

[2:09:29] which rapes are down 70%.

[2:09:32] Over that same period, Poland's simple

[2:09:34] strategy is don't let Muslims in.

[2:09:37] England and Wales since 2002 rapes

[2:09:41] increased over 500% to 75,000 reported

[2:09:45] rapes in the last year and according to

[2:09:47] the uh statista for every that was

[2:09:50] according to Statista and for every

[2:09:52] single one of those five uh reported

[2:09:54] rapes is 5 to 15 unreported rapes. So

[2:09:57] you can see the scale of the issue. So

[2:09:59] we have not seen the fullscale

[2:10:01] manifestation of the Islamification of

[2:10:04] America, but Europe has and they've seen

[2:10:06] the fruit. And you can even Germany is

[2:10:10] now looking at an initiative to deport

[2:10:12] over over 800,000 Muslim immigrants over

[2:10:15] the course of three years. Um, in June

[2:10:21] 2026, the rape inquiry report unveiled

[2:10:23] that Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs

[2:10:25] systematically raped and traveled

[2:10:26] thousands of British girls across

[2:10:29] numerous towns while police, social

[2:10:31] services, healthc care providers, and

[2:10:33] politicians repeatedly failed to protect

[2:10:35] them and out of fear of being called

[2:10:38] racist. The estimated victims was

[2:10:41] previously mentioned uh 250,000

[2:10:44] from the 1990s to the present.

[2:10:47] Um I say let us all learn from the

[2:10:49] mistakes of these European countries who

[2:10:51] have betrayed their people and

[2:10:52] especially their women who suffer the

[2:10:54] most because of these wicked and evil

[2:10:56] initiatives to not hold to not prosecute

[2:11:01] these things. And um uh the most

[2:11:05] hypocritical thing about this all is

[2:11:07] that you guys at the same time claim to

[2:11:10] be liberals and democrats

[2:11:12] >> and support feminism. Uh, tell me how is

[2:11:15] supporting a system that mistreats

[2:11:18] women, increases rapes 300 to 500% in

[2:13:02] public schools frequently dominate the

[2:13:04] state with five schools ranking in the

[2:13:06] top 30.

[2:13:08] Out of all 15 public universities in

[2:13:10] Michigan, U of M Dearborn grads secure

[2:13:13] the fourth highest median annual

[2:13:14] earnings 10 years after enrollment.

[2:13:18] UF Dearborn maintains the lowest average

[2:13:20] annual cost of any public 4-year

[2:13:22] university in Michigan.

[2:13:26] What about Dearborn culturally? What

[2:13:27] does that look like?

[2:13:30] Well, Dearbornne's populace is deeply

[2:13:32] entrenched in social and religious

[2:13:34] conservatism. Dearbornne is bar none the

[2:13:36] most conservative city in America. The

[2:13:39] community has made national headlines

[2:13:41] for packed rockus schoolboard meetings

[2:13:43] where large coalitions of Muslim and

[2:13:45] Christian parents successfully organized

[2:13:48] to protest and remove books with LGBTQ

[2:13:51] plus garbage and sexual content from

[2:13:53] public schools.

[2:13:55] The social structure revolves heavily

[2:13:57] around the traditional family unit.

[2:13:59] Concepts of gender roles, modesty,

[2:14:01] dating, and marriage tend to align

[2:14:03] closely with traditional Islamic and

[2:14:05] Christian teachings rather than modern

[2:14:07] progressive garbage. There is a

[2:14:10] collective community rejection of woke

[2:14:11] ideology and the disgusting

[2:14:13] sexualization of children. They have

[2:14:16] tried to introduce gender identity into

[2:14:18] local healthcare and were shut down

[2:14:20] immediately.

[2:14:21] Dearbornne also has one of the highest

[2:14:23] densities of small businesses in the

[2:14:24] state. This fosters a highly capitalist

[2:14:29] anti-regulation and taxes conscious

[2:14:31] mindset aligned with the Republican

[2:14:32] party. Find me another city with a

[2:14:35] population over a 100,000 that is more

[2:14:37] conservative than Dearbornne. I am here

[2:14:39] to tell you that if you believe in

[2:14:41] entrepreneurship, religious freedom,

[2:14:43] family orientation, and social

[2:14:45] conservatism, then you stand with

[2:14:47] Dearborn. On the other hand, if you spit

[2:14:50] on capitalism, reject the constitution,

[2:14:52] and participate in the destruction of

[2:14:54] the family and gender roles in society,

[2:14:56] then you have already left this meeting.

[2:18:25] name of Jesus, hurling hate out of

[2:18:27] Muslims, brothers and sisters, not in

[2:18:30] his name, and certainly not on my watch.

[2:18:34] I count many Muslims as my friends, my

[2:18:37] neighbors, my associates, and yes, my

[2:18:40] barber.

[2:18:41] Men and women of integrity, of family,

[2:18:44] and of faith. We may not be brothers in

[2:18:46] faith, but we are certainly absolutely

[2:18:49] brothers and sisters in humanity. And

[2:18:51] freedom of religion is not a footnote to

[2:18:53] being an American. It is a cornerstone.

[2:18:56] The same first amendment that protects

[2:18:58] my right to go to mass protects your

[2:19:01] right to the mosque. It grieves me that

[2:19:04] in the name of Jesus, the prince of

[2:19:06] peace is being used as a weapon to

[2:19:08] spread fear, intolerance, and hate. That

[2:19:11] is not the gospel. That is not the

[2:19:13] cross. And that certainly is not of

[2:19:16] Christ. So let me be clear. The name of

[2:19:19] in the name of Jesus Christ, I rebuke

[2:19:21] this spirit of hatred and division.

[2:19:24] Scripture does not leave us confused

[2:19:25] about this. We are called to rebuke evil

[2:19:28] and tonight this is evil. using the name

[2:19:31] of the savior who deni who dined with

[2:19:33] outcasts to cast out our neighbors good

[2:19:35] people. John 13:35 tells us exactly how

[2:19:39] Christians should be known. By this all

[2:19:42] people will know that you are my

[2:19:44] disciples if you have love for one

[2:19:46] another and your neighbor. First John

[2:19:48] 4:20 makes it even plainer. If anyone

[2:19:51] says I love God and hates his brother,

[2:19:53] he is a liar. So no, you do not speak

[2:19:57] for me. You do not speak for my church

[2:20:00] and you do not speak for Christ when you

[2:20:03] chant hate at people of God, no matter

[2:20:07] the faith. To my Muslim friends in this

[2:20:09] room and in this city, you are welcome

[2:20:12] here. You belong here. Your freedom to

[2:20:15] worship is my freedom to worship and I

[2:20:17] will stand for it because my faith

[2:20:19] demands it. We can disagree and we

[2:20:23] probably will on theology and still

[2:20:25] defend each other's dignity. That's not

[2:20:27] weakness. That's Christianity. That is

[2:20:31] American.

[2:21:28] where you come from. It depends on how

[2:21:31] you treat all of our rights. The first

[2:21:34] amendment says you have the right to

[2:21:37] freedom of speech. A lot of people

[2:21:38] showed up outside. I seen anger and

[2:21:41] bitterness on both sides. I've seen

[2:21:43] people on both sides

[2:21:45] instigating. Didn't need to be as far as

[2:21:48] coming down and not having your rights

[2:21:50] violated.

[2:21:52] Do I really believe that Jack Long or

[2:21:56] Jake Long, however you say it, I don't

[2:21:58] even know the guy's name truthfully,

[2:21:59] very well. But what happened with him

[2:22:02] getting hit? He wasn't trying to fight.

[2:22:06] Somebody hit him. It doesn't matter

[2:22:08] which side you're on, whether you like

[2:22:10] his belief or somebody else's. Nobody

[2:22:13] deserves to get attacked. That's what it

[2:22:16] comes down to. And then when once it

[2:22:18] happened and there's video everywhere,

[2:22:21] you know, people chasing him down as the

[2:22:23] one gentleman mentioned earlier. It

[2:22:25] wasn't just one person. It started with

[2:22:27] one person and then the mob effect

[2:22:30] happened and then they started chasing

[2:22:32] him. Then he ended up in a car and they

[2:22:34] were trying to get him out of the car.

[2:22:35] Yes, he ended up getting to safety,

[2:22:38] getting put to jail. Well, as you said,

[2:22:40] a couple other people got arrested, but

[2:22:42] more people were involved than that. And

[2:22:44] with our first amendment rights, if we

[2:22:46] don't follow and use our videos and use

[2:22:48] what we have to make sure all the people

[2:22:51] that were involved got arrested,

[2:22:54] that makes all of us unsafe because that

[2:22:57] moment when it happens and it turns out

[2:22:59] to be you.

[2:23:01] won't be safe. And we all we are all

[2:23:04] only safe in our country because of our

[2:23:07] amendment rights. Freedom of religion.

[2:23:10] I'm a Christian. You know, Muslims are

[2:23:13] sitting here. Somebody might be from

[2:23:15] Israel. Somebody could be from Kenya.

[2:23:18] Somebody could be from South Africa. It

[2:23:20] doesn't matter. That's what makes

[2:23:22] America great is you can come here. We

[2:23:24] can all live on the same block. As a

[2:23:27] gentleman said, he's an atheist. We

[2:23:29] should all be able to get along.

[2:24:36] council. Um, thank you for, uh,

[2:24:38] entertaining my comments this evening.

[2:24:40] I'm Leslie Herrick. I am the community

[2:24:43] relations director for the intercultural

[2:24:45] community center in Dearbornne, which is

[2:24:47] a nonprofit organization serving

[2:24:49] Dearborn and Dearborn Heights. Um, its

[2:24:51] mission is to bring people together to

[2:24:53] understand each other. um where we come

[2:24:55] from, where we are today, the things

[2:24:57] that bond us in unity here. Um there are

[2:25:00] so many things that we have in common um

[2:25:03] that outnumber those differences between

[2:25:05] us and the intercultural community

[2:25:07] center in Dearbornne seeks to address

[2:25:09] those. For example, just earlier this

[2:25:11] year, we had panel discussions on

[2:25:13] challenges in finding housing,

[2:25:15] affordable housing. Um we also had a

[2:25:17] panel discussion on what's on the ballot

[2:25:20] on the primary ballot. Um, coming up

[2:25:22] later this year, we have a a community

[2:25:24] picnic um for Good Neighbor Day, which

[2:25:27] is in September. It will be celebrated

[2:25:29] by the Intercultural Community Center in

[2:25:30] Dearbornne, as well as the city of

[2:25:32] Dearbornne um which is encouraging

[2:25:34] neighborhoods to do what we always do.

[2:25:37] We have um just like across the country

[2:25:39] and probably more than many cities

[2:25:40] across the country, we have um

[2:25:43] neighborhood picnics um block parties

[2:25:45] that bring people together. no matter

[2:25:47] where they came from, they ended up on

[2:25:49] the same street or on the same block and

[2:25:51] they break bread together. They do um

[2:25:53] potlucks and family activities,

[2:25:55] family-friendly uh children's activities

[2:25:58] across our city. So, these are examples

[2:26:00] of what what makes Dearborn similar to

[2:26:03] other cities across the country, but it

[2:26:04] also makes us unique because of the

[2:26:06] people that are here. We are here by

[2:26:08] choice for the most part and we we love

[2:26:11] our city and we love the diversity that

[2:26:13] makes us stronger and um some of those

[2:26:16] things that you see if you come to visit

[2:26:18] if you're not part of our neighborhoods

[2:26:20] and going to our picnics or block

[2:26:21] parties you you would experience if you

[2:26:24] have not already wonderful food um at

[2:26:27] many of our restaurants upcoming uh

[2:26:29] later this fall our coffee month it's a

[2:26:33] our coffee week and and it's a wonderful

[2:26:35] time to experience all kinds of

[2:26:37] different coffee if you are a coffee

[2:26:38] drinker or even tea um at um many of our

[2:26:42] coffee houses. Some are are um locally

[2:26:44] they're locally owned um by different um

[2:26:47] nationalities. So please come experience

[2:26:50] some of those activities. Earlier

[2:26:51] somebody mentioned our farmers market.

[2:26:53] Again you see those across the country,

[2:26:55] but ours is special um with the with

[2:26:58] people that are local here participating

[2:27:00] um and enjoying the activities or

[2:27:02] running the booths that are there. Um I

[2:27:04] just wanted to mention there were a

[2:27:06] couple things.

[2:27:10] around the world. Um we have Rotary Club

[2:27:13] of Dearbornne. Um Rotary International

[2:27:15] is a nonprofit organization around the

[2:27:24] it's a partnership between the Rotary

[2:27:25] Club of Dearbornne and the city of

[2:27:27] Dearborn. So that was on uh the consent

[2:27:29] agenda. And then I also wanted to speak

[2:27:31] about trees. Thank you. Uh for a couple

[2:27:33] years ago, we activated our cultural I'm

[2:27:36] sorry, our environmental.

[2:28:54] should put them in space, not in our

[2:28:55] oceans, not in our backyards. Um but but

[2:29:03] not I don't support Jake Lang. He I

[2:29:05] believe he's an Israeli PL plant and he

[2:29:17] goes at things a very hateful way and he

[2:31:42] told me I'm not welcome here and he'll

[2:31:44] throw a parade when I uh leave the city

[2:31:48] and later uh spread defamation about me

[2:31:52] um in conjunction with others in the

[2:31:54] ArabAmerican news and in Alazer era and

[2:31:58] in the Guardian newspaper uh scurless

[2:32:01] and ridiculous uh defamation.

[2:32:04] Uh that street sign is named after a

[2:32:06] journalist who says that the most

[2:32:08] important thing that he's ever done he

[2:32:10] continues to maintain is when he uh led

[2:32:14] the crowd here in Dearborn paying homage

[2:32:16] to the leader of Hezbollah and of course

[2:32:20] Hezbollah

[2:32:21] um bombed uh to death hundreds of

[2:32:24] Americans in Beirut.

[2:32:27] Um, now that's not just an isolated

[2:32:30] incident. That's that's the thing. Uh,

[2:32:31] it's representative of bigger problems.

[2:32:34] Uh, imams in the biggest uh mosques uh

[2:32:38] in Dearbornne and Dearborn Heights uh

[2:32:41] praise the Iranian regime uh which has

[2:32:44] caused so much oppression uh to so many

[2:32:47] people. It's killed hundreds of

[2:32:49] thousands of people directly and through

[2:32:51] proxies.

[2:32:53] and my fellow Christians in Iran, which

[2:32:56] is a great concern to me, are extremely

[2:32:59] persecuted there in Iran. Um, so these

[2:33:02] are legitimate concerns that we have and

[2:33:05] I don't think it should be controversial

[2:33:07] to raise these concerns.

[2:33:10] Um,

[2:33:12] Jewish people, uh, you can paint a rosy

[2:33:15] picture of Dearborn. Jewish people are

[2:33:16] terrified of coming to Dearbornne. Uh,

[2:33:18] I've talked to multiple Jewish people

[2:33:20] who said that.

[2:33:23] Um,

[2:33:24] also my fear was uh was justified. I

[2:33:27] said he's spreading violence. He's he he

[2:33:30] could be interpreted as spreading

[2:33:31] violence in Michigan. And then a few

[2:33:34] months later, somebody attacked a

[2:33:36] synagogue full of 140 small children uh

[2:33:39] in West Bloomfield.

[2:33:42] Uh so these are legitimate concerns.

[2:33:45] At the same time, I'm embarrassed uh

[2:33:47] with uh Jake Lang's so-called

[2:33:50] Christianity, this fake Christianity,

[2:33:51] which many people have said. I hope this

[2:33:53] doesn't put my Muslim friends off

[2:33:55] Christianity because that's not that's not real Christianity.

[2:34:18] to say, giving credit where it's due, is

[2:34:20] when we had an Israeli Jewish man who

[2:34:23] came to Dearbornne to Peace Park West, I

[2:34:26] appreciate how when there was a threat

[2:34:28] and I contacted the FBI, the Dearborn

[2:34:30] police came out in full force to protect

[2:34:32] him

[2:34:34] >> uh to speak about the tragic loss of his

[2:34:36] son who was murdered in Washington DC

[2:34:38] and he spoke in love and in compassion

[2:34:40] to people in Dearborn who are

[2:34:42] experiencing loss. So, I want to give

[2:34:44] credit where it's due to the Dearborn

[2:34:45] Police and the Dear Dearborn government

[2:34:47] for helping in that situation. Thank you
