[13:25] ideas, I was kind of in the struggle to find like, who needed, like, stuff to do or who

[13:30] needed help and he came to me and said, um, we could, like, you could make us, like, backpack

[13:35] cooks for the kids for PE. And so that's what I did. That's what I did. I'm going to show

[13:41] you the positive, like, how I got there from just one, from my idea. And so what did I do?

[13:47] I made Backpack Cooks for Hawthorne Middle School and the problems they had is that when

[13:52] they left their backpacks on the ground near like the wall, they used to be stolen

[13:58] from their backpacks because you couldn't see them and also they used to get dirty and

[14:03] wet from the rain and from the dirt and the dirty ground they used to put it on.

[14:08] So I made a solution making Backpack Cooks and I'm going to show you the process how

[14:12] I started all of that.

[14:14] So first I made a meeting with a couple of my scout people and we had to go around like how much is like around the average cost, how much we will make and like the materials, the, the, the, the man work to like to make all this.

[14:33] and so that's what we did and then from there we started buying materials the week

[14:39] before we started putting the back right cooks up so my process so we started

[14:48] cutting all the wood that we got from a lumber, a lumber store and we shaved it

[14:54] all down to the shape you see in the picture and we had to cut the edge

[15:00] We had to put primer on to smooth the wood. We also had to clog the holes because they weren't perfectly cut and made. So we had to clog all the wood, the holes in the wood, which took a while and we had to wait till it dried. And so after that, we started painting them blue and white, which are the school colors. And after that, after we wait like two days for it to dry, because it took a while because we had to put multiple layers to make it look perfect.

[15:34] one more plain blue so we have to repaint that with another day to make it perfect so they

[15:40] could be even white and blue and so the last thing I wanted to say is we started loading

[15:48] up the hooks into this truck you see right here and we fit all I think 16 16 hooks and then

[15:55] Then we headed to the school from Carson, where we made all this and made all this happen

[16:02] from a scholar in mind, because he owns a workshop, so we used his place to build all

[16:09] this.

[16:10] And after that, we put them up at the school.

[16:13] And as you see in this picture is the finished project and how they look and how they look

[17:13] task and keep keeping one lane. And you learned how to plan with others in a group

[17:20] and put a project together with teamwork, didn't you? Yes, yes, man. That's one of the

[17:25] And one of the great benefits of being a scout, in my family we have a scout tradition.

[17:34] My son is an Eagle Scout.

[17:36] And I'm very, very much aware of the value of the scout experience.

[41:07] elect with a lot of votes. So we have a mandate to serve you. So we are working for you. You are my boss.

[1:09:14] I'm Denise Gumpels and I'm the public affairs manager for the city of Hawthorne, for our SoCal gas.

[1:09:20] And I'm here to provide you with an update from us.

[1:09:22] Firstly, I want to tell you that we are so grateful to your public work staff, your engineers, for

[1:09:27] your help on getting all the permits and expediting our work along aviation and

[1:09:31] in El Segundo. The work started in June where we replaced a 30-inch pipeline with a brand

[1:09:36] new 20-inch one, but it caused a lot of noise and issues to the residents. We communicated

[1:09:41] regularly and I'm glad to see that the project is done at the end of this week. So thank you

[1:09:45] so much for your patience with that. I also want to provide you with an energy update.

[1:09:50] And for most of us, energy is not something we think about. We just want to make sure that

[1:09:53] the lights turn on and the water's hot when we need it and that our heaters work when

[1:09:57] it's cold. However, there is an important debate happening at the state capital, and it's

[1:10:02] about achieving our state's 2030 and 2050 emission reduction goals. I think that we can all

[1:10:07] agree that California is a leader on climate change, specifically GHG or greenhouse gas reductions

[1:10:12] and renewable energy. The choices we make about energy policy today will affect every California

[1:10:18] and family and business, and from so CalGAS's perspective achieving this next set of goals will

[1:10:24] will require us to use all of the tools and technology at our disposal, including electricity

[1:10:29] and natural gas.

[1:10:31] This balanced energy approach considers the environment, customer choice, affordability,

[1:10:36] and reliability.

[1:10:37] Some people are advocating that we electrify everything, including all of our home appliances

[1:10:41] like stoves and heaters, so that we will rely solely on electricity.

[1:10:46] The idea sounds simple, but the technological hurdles in cost make it anything but proponents

[1:10:51] of mandatory electrification are now lobbying regulators and local officials without giving them the full picture.

[1:10:58] Most Californians are unaware that the electrification debate is happening, there are challenges to electrification.

[1:11:04] It would require a massive overhaul of our current infrastructure that would cost $3 trillion and disrupt every home and business in California.

[1:11:13] Not to mention that one third of our customers of 20.9 million customers are low income.

[1:11:19] Fortunately, we don't have to choose between our environmental values and our budget.

[1:11:24] With natural gas, you don't have to.

[1:11:26] Let's look at the facts.

[1:11:27] 80% of California's methane emissions come from our own waste, like agriculture,

[1:11:31] dairies, and landfills.

[1:11:33] According to the State's Air Resources Board, if we switch out 16% of our natural gas supply

[1:11:38] with renewable natural gas, we'll meet or exceed our greenhouse gas reduction targets.

[1:11:45] And we know it's proven since it's already been done in other parts of the world.

[1:11:48] SoCal Gas is focusing on the future.

[1:11:50] We are committed to investing heavily in our infrastructure.

[1:11:54] Our five year capital plan includes $6 billion in infrastructure investments.

[1:11:59] The improved reliability from these programs will benefit all of our customers.

[1:12:03] And I'd like to wrap up with a milestone that we're particularly proud of.

[1:12:07] Last year, SoCal Gas made over $3.7 million in charitable contributions to organizations.

[1:12:46] I guess you would say. And I got my card told on, I think it was November 30th. And I got

[1:12:54] back these some of the 4th I went to the tow yard to get the DMV the DMV the

[1:13:03] registration and insurance and all that so I go to the tow yard they the

[1:13:08] first they come out they couldn't find my car I called it couldn't when I got

[1:13:12] that they couldn't find the car they said it was gonna check the yard B it took

[1:13:16] them 45 minutes to do that then it came back and another 30 minutes they said it

[1:13:23] don't check your seat and then after that it's about an hour hour and a half to

[1:13:28] wait it. Excuse me. But then when they finally found my car, they took me in the

[1:13:34] back. Soon as I walked through the door, my car is right here in the door. It

[1:13:38] under 18 cars deep in the back now. I understand the blind man can see that they

[1:13:43] didn't just find my car as soon as I go to the back door and it's 18 cars deep.

[1:13:50] So, okay, after I get my paperwork out, I come back up to City Hall to pay the tickets

[1:13:56] in the fines or whatever to get my car released.

[1:14:00] So I go back, now it's a $35 lean fee, but when I got here on Tuesday the 4th, City Hall

[1:14:11] was closed from 12 to 2.

[1:14:12] So I told my buddy that it was driving me, and then they stole me for some reason.

[1:14:18] Now, but when I got back, it went over to another day.

[1:14:21] That's what I'm saying.

[1:14:22] They had storming me enough time for my car to get another day's lean on it or whatever

[1:14:28] it is.

[1:14:28] But it was an extra $35.

[1:14:30] But it's not the $35.

[1:14:32] It's just that I could see that they were delaying me for some reason.

[1:14:38] And I've been back to try to see the manager and the owner.

[1:15:36] I'm here to present about bringing back, I beloved Hawthorne Youth Football and

[1:15:42] Cheer program that's been removed from the city since 1999, 1999.

[1:15:51] And I just like to, I'm a product of the product.

[1:15:55] I was a kid over in the city.

[1:15:56] We have issues in the city and I would really think this program would really be beneficial

[1:16:01] for all the community because once again I came up in this program as a child and it was very beneficial on making life-long friends, teaching teamwork, integrity, things of that nature.

[1:16:18] I think it will definitely help shape the youth of our mentality in our community because we have underlying things going on in our community.

[1:16:27] that I don't really think is being addressed.

[1:16:31] I'm also a resident of Hawthorn.

[1:16:35] I'm alumni class of 1989.

[1:16:38] So I've been entrenched in this community for over 30 years.

[1:16:43] I've been volunteering my time with football and baseball.

[1:16:48] I currently have been coaching at Hawthorn High,

[1:16:52] I'm losing her high, and I also went a nonprofit here in the city as well.

[1:16:57] So I've been dealing with youth for the last 20 plus years in this community.

[1:17:01] Our league was taken over to the city of Laundale, city of 1999, excuse me,

[1:17:07] in the year of 1999 for embezzlement.

[1:17:09] And I think it's time that we bring it back and give our kids, give them something forward to look,

[1:17:16] you know, because all of what's happening is a lot of our kids are being siphoned out of the city to go over to Laundale.

[1:17:23] Then when it comes time for the high school, we don't have a lot of kids here.

[1:17:28] They're going to a lot of neighboring cities and schools and being part of their communities.

[1:17:33] And I think we need something to be very proud of here at home.

[1:17:37] The problem that I'm seeing in youth program as a parent, I have seven kids.

[1:17:45] But when we go and sign up for our kids, we have nothing here.

[1:17:47] When we go to neighboring cities, we're paying out of resident fees for our kids just to play youth sports.

[1:17:54] And I think it's a shame.

[1:17:56] When you have someone such as myself, I'm very deeply involved with the youth and

[1:18:01] those what's going on in the community.

[1:18:03] And I'm willing to put the time and work in effort and so.

[1:18:07] And ending, I would like to build a partnership with the city.

[1:18:11] because I do have an alliance with another city else say city of El Segundo.

[1:18:20] I've already struck an alliance with them.

[1:18:22] They're willing to come over and help.

[1:18:23] And I think it's the shame that we have to help ask a neighboring community to help us with our own problems and our own backyard.

[1:23:51] Similarly, after there was a momentous occasion in our city across the street was the grand opening of the Marriott Courtyard and Town Place Weas.

[1:24:00] It was quite an extravaganza and it's something that will definitely boost our economic fortunes here in the city and will lend its way along with a lot of the things of SpaceX and the growing middle class to getting that giant building across the city.

[1:24:21] across the street, doubt the fortress of Amal for shopping, dining and entertainment.

[1:24:28] There's an item regards that is coming up again in the state legislature,

[1:24:35] Senator Scott Wainer, who in the summer time had his proposal for

[1:24:43] SB827, the high density residential development proposal,

[1:24:48] which would essentially take the authority of cities and counties away from deciding on such projects.

[1:24:56] He has made a slightly amended version called now SB 50, and I know you had adopted a resolution in opposition to SB 827.

[1:25:09] Likewise, I hope that the city will pick up on this and

[1:25:14] And Dr. Resolution for that as well against SB 50.

[1:25:20] Another item is in regards to hospital for the city of

[1:25:27] Hawthorne.

[1:25:28] I think it's not a matter of whether we need a hospital in the city of

[1:25:31] Hawthorne.

[1:25:32] I think it's something that's doable.

[1:25:34] It's a matter of we need to get all the various important parties,

[1:25:39] the owners of the property, the city, the medical professionals, various

[1:25:45] on-sundry stakeholders, so to speak.

[1:25:49] And let's start working on how do we get there?

[1:25:53] We know we need a hospital and basically to sit down over the negotiating table

[1:25:59] and work out a deal.

[1:26:01] And there is money out there on the federal, state, county levels.

[1:26:04] And there's money from foundations like Annenberg Foundation and other corporations that have expressed interest in donating a certain amount of money for

[1:26:14] initial operations and ongoing so forth.

[1:26:19] So I hope we can put together a group here in the city and move forward on that.

[1:31:32] for the city. I'm speaking of Mr. Alex Montero definitely has a lot agenda to move our city forward,

[1:31:40] especially for the mall. Yes, it's long overdue, true enough. The city does not own the property,

[1:31:46] but there has got to be more guidelines that we can do to even if anything tear it down, tear it

[1:31:53] down because it's just been a true thorn in our side. And as I mentioned, I am a proud parent and I

[1:31:59] I want to speak to the parents here in the community

[1:32:02] that have their children going to a heart on high.

[1:32:05] That's in the Sentinel Valley School District.

[1:32:07] It was brought to attention that you have teacher over there

[1:32:10] that let 11 assignments, 11 assignments go missing

[1:32:15] with the student and it wasn't brought

[1:32:17] to the parent's attention and I see that parent

[1:32:20] every time that I go to the district meetings,

[1:32:24] to the parent meetings.

[1:32:25] So it's just truly astounding how 11

[1:32:29] and assignments got passed this particular teacher to just reach out, text.

[1:32:36] They have a wonderful school messenger system.

[1:32:39] And so the superintendent, Mr. O'Brien, was reached out to and got back to the parent

[1:32:45] and there has to be a change over there because you have had parents come to this podium

[1:32:51] speaking of our Hawthorne school.

[1:32:54] You don't have to send your child to the bench, you don't have to send them to Wiseburn.

[1:32:58] or even Laundale, I do think that heart on high is a wonderful school.

[1:33:04] It's just the teachers.

[1:33:06] The teachers plays a big part, they get good paychecks.

[1:33:10] And that shouldn't just stop right there, because these are the children that's gonna come out into our world in whole seats,

[1:33:17] and BCEO's and companies, and bring the innovation back to our community.

[1:33:23] So it's very important for the parents to get involved and keep a good relationship with the Councillors.

[1:33:49] I wanted to thank very sincerely the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem,

[1:33:54] Councilwoman Olivia Valentine, Neil Michelin, and the outgoing

[1:33:58] Ngerais English for the hard work.

[1:34:00] This year, at the 9th annual economic summit for Southern California,

[1:34:04] a city of Hawthorne was acknowledged very sincerely by SCAD for

[1:34:08] the contributions to LA County's GDP, the COO, as well as co-founders of SpaceX and

[1:34:14] the Boeing company were present.

[1:34:16] I moderated a panel on transportation and the evolution in future transportation in Southern California.

[1:34:21] And it was interesting, too, as a resident of Hawthorne, to hear the name Hawthorne being presented in front of congressmen and state senators as part of the great work being done here.

[1:34:32] So I want to say thank you on behalf of the Southern California Association of Governments.

[1:34:36] Secondly, as a fellow resident had brought up SB50 Bill, I personally have worked on the Bill's formulation with state Senator Scott Wiener and Assemblyman Chu.

[1:34:46] And I think the SB50 bill is very crucial because its major orientation is for transit oriented housing.

[1:34:54] And it's very important for South Bay cities to adopt.

[1:34:57] And I think, especially in the city of Hawthorne, because of out location and the economic factors and the city leading into the next decade.

[1:35:04] It's very important and I think that SB50 bill will really be beneficial and help Hawthorne elevate itself even more on a regional scale.

[1:37:51] So resolution 8038 will facilitate a forum for communities under the flight path in and

[1:37:59] out of Hotron Airport to have an opportunity to discuss their concerns with flight operation

[1:38:06] managers and pilots face-to-face.

[1:38:10] Based on my experience in the past year or so, receiving concerns from various community

[1:38:18] community members, this is what they wanted to, to have a better communications with airport

[1:38:25] users and bring out their concerns to them.

[1:38:30] It is going to be an informational process for everybody involved.

[1:38:37] Not only community members, we learn about, you know, FAA flight paths and procedures and

[1:38:46] processes involved, pilots also learn from residents that when they are flying up above,

[1:38:55] what is the impact of certain maneuvering or certain altitude they choose on the residents

[1:39:03] below.

[1:39:04] It provides an information on form engaging representatives from surrounding communities

[1:39:09] to discuss ways for mitigating noise impact and other concerns to the extent possible.

[1:39:14] by pilots as far as their safe operation is not jeopardized, and to the extent allowed by FAA laws, regulations, and safety standards.

[1:39:24] If I may, through the chair, I would like to address Mr. White's comments about Parkside Village,

[1:39:33] the basis for City of Houghton has neighborhood maps, and we can provide you with a copy of it.

[1:39:40] It is not based on the decision was made based on the neighborhood maps, not based on building complexes.

[1:39:47] For example, North Hawthorn, which is from Crenshaw to Engelwood and from El Segundo

[1:39:55] to Imperial about two square miles, has one representative.

[1:39:59] Otherwise, after Minita Garden, North Hawthorn includes some of the densest residential communities

[1:40:07] is in our city.

[1:40:08] So if we wanted to go based on gated communities,

[1:40:13] then North Haton could have 10 representatives by themselves.

[1:40:17] So current forum consists of 17 board members.

[1:40:22] However, you Mr. White and whoever else from Parkside Relage or

[1:40:28] from there, more than welcome to attend these meetings.

[1:40:31] This doesn't mean that they are excluded in any way.

[1:40:35] We just had to have one representative from each neighborhood.

[1:40:39] They're more than welcome to attend these meetings and

[1:40:42] being their concerns also as the board members themselves.

[1:40:46] So just to address the issue.

[1:40:50] But also, I would like to include an inter-lineation through the chair in the section eight.

[1:42:14] I've heard from other communities.

[1:42:21] tonight. She and I have discussed the need to have a comprehensive approach to a resolution

[1:42:26] of this issue. And we trust with such a large representation of surrounding communities,

[1:42:32] everyone will feel their concerns of being addressed. It's going to be a very transparent

[1:42:37] standing committee. And it's expected that when any noise issue arises, it can be discussed

[1:42:44] in this forum. We want to engage all representatives of the airport and the surrounding communities.

[1:42:50] And I want to make a comment about who is going to be a representative.

[1:42:56] So if you look at page two of the staff report, it talks about the representatives and

[1:43:06] it says that members from the City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission would

[1:43:10] be appointed by the City Council, members from home owners associations would be appointed

[1:43:15] by their respective boards. Geographic areas located within the city or county of Los Angeles

[1:43:21] that do not have a homeowners association to perform the function of appointments shall

[1:43:26] have members appointed by the office of the supervisor of the second district or office

[1:43:31] of the council member representing the district in which it is located. A letter of appointment

[1:43:36] from the appropriate official of the Supervisorial District or council members office will be required

[1:43:41] before an individual may serve. And I make this, I emphasize this because we are not going

[1:43:48] to be responsible for the people who represent your communities on that committee. You will

[1:43:56] be responsible. All of the listed organizations, businesses, groups, and whoever is listed

[1:44:02] on that as a member, all 17 entities, you will be responsible for choosing your own representative

[1:44:10] and letting us know who that is going to be.

[1:49:18] So, first on the League of California cities, the City of Hawthorne is a board member

[1:49:23] of the League of California cities, and I am Vice President of the Revenue and Taxation

[1:49:27] Policy Committee.

[1:49:29] We met recently to recommend policies the league should make that will be a benefit to

[1:49:34] cities.

[1:49:35] The recommendations will be voted on by the full committee at the meeting in January

[1:49:40] in Sacramento, and then used as the basis for advocating on behalf of cities to the

[1:49:45] legislature. The top three policy priorities we set for our committee, the Revenue and

[1:49:52] Taxation Committee, were the following. Number one, disaster preparedness. The wildfires put

[1:49:58] everyone on notice of the need to have a comprehensive disaster plan on a statewide level. Number two,

[1:50:04] housing. There is a train coming down the track at cities wherein the legislature is going to focus

[1:50:09] on forcing cities to accept more density and where the flexibility of local government

[1:50:14] is going to be eroded.

[1:50:16] We have to be aware and be prepared to set our own goals and plan our own communities

[1:50:22] in the way we see fit.

[1:50:24] And number three, pension reform, we understand the problems involved with pension reforms.

[1:50:29] So that's something that's also that was the third priority.

[1:50:33] So Marriott Grand Opening, it was my pleasure last Wednesday, December 5th to attend the

[1:50:38] groundbreaking and welcome our two new Marriott branded hotels to the city of

[1:50:42] Hawthorne, courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Town Place Suites. Both are

[1:50:48] welcome new additions to the Hawthorne community. We have seen revitalization

[1:50:52] taking place on Crenshaw, around SpaceX and the airport, and on Ceres with the

[1:50:58] conversion of the old industrial buildings to be repurposed for industries of

[1:51:03] the 21st century. Now the transformation is coming to downtown Hawthorne and we

[1:51:08] We welcome it.

[1:51:09] We hope to see more commercial development and we will work to that end and bring in more

[1:51:14] restaurants in this location as the word gets out that Hawthorne is the place to be.

[1:51:21] Hawthorne Business Expo.

[1:51:23] The Hawthorne Business Expo, which I have been working on for the last four years, we are,

[1:51:30] this is going to be 2019, this will be our fourth.

[1:51:33] It is set to take off on January 23rd, 2019 from 3 to 7 pm.

[1:51:38] The theme this year is business networking in an electronic world.

[1:51:43] There will be eight educational workshops at the event.

[1:51:47] I left flyers like this outside for everyone, please take one.

[1:51:52] These are the educational sessions at the expo.

[1:51:55] Cyber security and cyber liability insurance.

[1:51:59] Social media strategies.

[1:52:00] basic market research, e-commerce for small business,

[1:52:15] and all of these are with the intent to offer a wealth of opportunities,

[1:52:20] advice, and information to our small businesses in the city of Hawthorne,

[1:52:24] and we hope to have, we have so far many exhibitors that have already

[1:52:29] signed up to exhibit. I think we have probably 40 at this point. We have a capacity for about 60.

[1:52:37] And we're doing some things a little bit differently this year. This year we're going to have a panel

[1:52:42] discussion around our theme. The theme is business networking in an electronic world. We're going

[1:54:47] She brought her professionalism.

[1:54:49] I like the way she brought in the family, so.

[1:54:51] And she made a comment about Hawthorne that a lot of people

[1:54:53] make how diverse we are.

[1:54:56] And there's about 100 suburbs over here in LA.

[1:55:01] And we're the most diverse city by far.

[1:55:04] Everybody's always amazed at our diversity

[1:55:06] on how we work together.

[1:55:07] So I'm very proud that she mentioned that and you know, you have a bit of a choice to fill Monica did a great job

[1:55:14] But you have some great ideas and I'm looking forward to great things at the city clerk's office

[1:55:19] all the great work that you do and you know as as

[1:55:23] At Sam Monica College and all organizational skills that you have looking for great things there

[1:55:30] Councilman Valentine you worked so hard and all those different committees scagged the airport League of California cities

[1:55:37] I'm looking forward to some great recommendations from that revenue committee because we definitely need to revenue.

[1:55:42] All the cities need revenue, so thank you for your service on that great to have you back.

[1:55:48] And we're very excited about Alex Montero coming in.

[1:55:53] I served with him in the Hawthorne School District.

[1:55:56] Seven years ago, I made the leap from the Hawthorne School District over here to the city.

[1:56:01] And I worked with them, there's nobody more professional, more organized, everything that

[1:56:09] you do for the Hawthorne School District, from Anita Gardens, for the canine dinner,

[1:56:13] the Christmas dinner, you're even president of your homeowner's association.

[1:56:17] You have all this things going on, it's even president of the homeowner's association.

[1:56:21] This is how much he loves his community.

[1:56:23] So everybody in this council is extremely qualified, everybody brings something to the table,

[1:56:30] But you've got to admit that people are the most qualified and experienced people ever to sit in that seat.

[1:56:36] So we're looking for great things, you're joining a great team over here.

[1:56:40] So let's give them all a big hand.

[1:56:48] And I too was at the Mayor's Grand Opening and I spoke and I said of the start of Hawthorne Renaissance.

[1:56:55] Actually, the Hawthorne Renaissance has began under this city council here working together.

[1:57:01] But I think it was an acceleration of the Hawthorne Renaissance.

[1:57:05] definitely a different level. If you go over there, please, after this meeting, go to that hotel

[1:57:10] and see how incredible it is. It's not one but two hotels. Walk around there and see the

[1:57:18] incredible design. The owner there spent thousands and thousands and not millions of dollars to

[1:57:25] have the South Bay history there. See the pictures there. See the restaurants there. So truly, the

[1:57:32] The Hawthorne Renathon keeps on going, and it was a great day to have everybody there.

[1:57:37] It was exciting.

[1:58:07] she was a mentor of what things have to be done and what was, you know, show me around

[1:58:15] how to operate these machines over here, the SNO vote.

[1:58:22] So she have done a lot of these best two weeks to put me into tune with all of you over

[1:58:27] here, but I have to say that Mr. Michelin said a great thing, so we have a great council

[1:58:34] and we're going to do great things for the seat of Hawthorn.

[1:58:38] And again I want to say thank you to Ms. English because we have been working together for

[1:58:43] more than 25 years as a community organizer out there doing things for the community.

[1:58:48] So she has put his her dues and she does all the credit to leave with grace.

[1:58:54] So, it was a battle, but somebody had to lose, but I'm glad that the people of Hathon put

[1:59:03] the trust on me, and I'm going to do my best, and I have some ideas, so keep in tune

[1:59:09] because starting January, I want to be starting some town hall meetings to go around, not

[1:59:15] just the homeowner's association, but to the neighborhoods that don't have no homeowner's

[1:59:18] association because we need to talk to them and listen and also to give them our concerns

[1:59:25] especially like I said about the trash and about parking and about other stuff that we

[1:59:30] need to do all together.

[1:59:32] Again, I want to congratulate Ms. Valentine for being reelected.

[1:59:38] So I think now in the history you have probably the most vote, the 9,000 vote, that was a tremendous

[1:59:46] number.

[1:59:47] Mr. Pahi Menes, you came on the right time because it's good to have you blood at the

[1:59:55] clear, because I am going to use all your expertise to bring some intern

[2:00:00] So, to help us out, you know, different projects of a day in your office and to other office.

[2:00:06] To Mr. David Pererson, again, congratulations for your reelection. And you have a business

[2:00:12] mind and a financial mind, so we're going to put it into use, all right? I appreciate

[2:03:04] because four-year college costs a lot of money.

[2:03:07] So if they take two years of a career attack and become a plumber

[2:03:10] or mechanic so they can earn some money and then go to college,

[2:04:13] the City Council.

[2:04:14] So, from the school board, right, and frankly, a lot of the residents out there did not have the opportunity to hear from you that your intention might be to try to serve on both positions.

[2:04:30] But for that reason, I like to ask our city attorney, is there anything that prevents the any current city council member, Mr.

[2:04:39] Mr. Michelin from, in particular, from serving dual roles.

[2:04:43] I mean, do you have any information of that on that?

[2:04:46] Because I can put together a legal confidential.

[2:04:49] It's not he's still on the count so until he takes

[2:04:52] the oath of office.

[2:05:39] So I really thank her for all her service with Council Member Michelin as well.

[2:05:44] Everybody brings a good, interesting flavor, Councilwoman and Olivia Valentine, Mayor Pro Tem

[2:05:50] Hadara Wad, our new members here, Councilmember Alex Montero.

[2:05:55] Everybody has a different flavor, a different forte.

[2:05:58] Hey, so, I mean, we all kind of sense what they are.

[2:06:01] No need to repeat them.

[2:06:03] So, I think it's not a surprise that we are having a rebirth,

[2:06:07] a renaissance meaning rebirth in the city of Hawthorne.

[2:06:11] I kind of will think that we can claim that this council body here,

[2:06:16] that is started with us three years ago, accelerated.

[2:06:20] It started turning around, but it didn't really start moving until we assembled

[2:06:24] of this group of people here with Councilwoman Angie Rays English.

[2:06:28] So now, we're going to start, now that we stabilized our economy, first you got to stabilize

[2:06:33] things before you start taking those leaves forward and that's what we've done.

[2:06:37] We've been able to pacify our, you know, our, the tempestuous budgets that we've had and

[2:06:43] the economics here in the city and now we're stabilized everything.

[2:06:46] And now, during those times, we've brought in great businesses, Tesla, SpaceX, I'm sorry,

[2:06:52] But you know, the airport is going for a reason because a lot of people are looking at Hawthorne, so it's good that we're forming this committee to be able to have a good quality of life and see our airport growth, but have a good quality of life for the people who live in the flight path or affected by it is extremely important, just like in the, just like we have increased traffic along the streets, we need to make sure that our infrastructure is kept up to date, expanded, widened, whatever it takes, more signals,

[2:07:22] different types of traffic mechanisms to be able to keep that flow.

[2:07:26] So there's things that we're growing, we're growing as a city, and we need to adapt.

[2:07:30] And we need to make the good and right decisions.

[2:07:33] So I'm very happy that what we have going on here, political stability is extremely important.

[2:07:40] In those last three years, have you guys seen us in the newspaper for anything negative?

[2:07:46] Drama, like we used to be in the last 15, 20 years?

[2:07:49] you guys remember all the stories no right now you haven't seen it we're good

[2:07:54] we're good and we want to keep it that way we don't want to lose that and and it's

[2:08:00] good it says good energy it's good synergy so let's keep that going so I also was

[2:08:04] at the Marriott grand opening the two hotels excellent beautiful if you go in one

[2:08:10] hotel in the lobbies you see the beach boy theme you actually see records from

[2:08:15] the beach boys you see like different themes on the walls from the beach boys

[2:08:19] If you go inside the rooms, you see pictures and paintings of photographs of surfboards.

[2:08:28] The endless summer picture that you guys always see with the guy in the moon.

[2:08:31] You know what I'm talking about, right?

[2:08:33] With the sun in the background and the surfboard standing up,

[2:08:37] and the sun trunks in just a shadow.

[2:08:41] I mean, that's Hawthorne.

[2:08:42] This is all centered around Hawthorne.

[2:08:44] And on the other hotel, we have a technological theme where we have the aviation theme.

[2:08:53] You see in each of the rooms you have pictures from Northrop, the technological history

[2:08:58] of the city of Hawthorne.

[2:08:59] We have a big marquee that's Hawthorne.

[2:09:01] It's awesome.

[2:09:02] So I really think the Marriott Group for being able to celebrate Hawthorne in that way,

[2:09:10] putting us on a map.

[2:09:11] We're a destination city.

[2:09:13] And as I got quoted in the newspaper, the reality is people,

[2:09:17] when people did not want to come and open up business here in the city of Hawthorne are gone.

[2:09:21] People are calling us, left and right, right Mr. Brian James?

[2:09:25] They're calling us, trying to find out how do they apply to do this, how do we buy this property?

[2:09:29] How do we open up this stuff, what is the process?
