[4:02] Head coach Gene Ray has the Reds with an iron sharpens iron and next man-up mentality as last year's

[4:08] state championship squad graduated several key pieces, but this year's team has several

[4:13] underclassmen who have stepped up in a big way. Clinton comes into this championship

[4:17] game at 15-3. They got through a tough test at the tornado bowl on Tuesday with a 3-2 win

[4:22] over Fort Gibson. Heritage Hall is 13-1 in their first season after moving up from class 3-A.

[4:29] They're defending champions of that class, so we've got two defending champions taking on each

[4:33] other here this evening at Taff Stadium. They did go on the road Tuesday and got a 2-1 win over

[6:09] reach some rare heirs they're playing for their fourth consecutive boys state

[6:13] championship. They defeated Hilldale last season in the finals in Chickasha the

[6:17] season before that in 2021. They defeated Woodward for their first of the three

[6:22] state titles. Red tornadoes have become the standard in Oklahoma Soccer.

[6:29] They

[6:29] Then began a counterattack in the blink of an eye, skilled with the ball and always ready

[6:33] to attack.

[6:34] This year's squad has faced a small amount of resistance to reach this final.

[6:37] They defeated Medil, three to one in the first round, then Tulsa Nathan Hell, four nil

[6:43] in the quarterfinals, then a pretty hard fought game against Fort Gibson, three to two was their

[6:49] victory.

[6:49] They showed immense fortitude as they came from behind to beat a team they had faced in

[6:53] March on the road and beat that team for the second time.

[6:57] Anthony Velasquez started the scoring in the third minute, and the Tigers answered with two goals,

[7:02] but a well-placed header by Deontre Beavers tied the game in the 49th minute, and Alex Martinez

[7:07] used a set piece to find Armando Santoyo for the winner in the 77th minute, and Clinton went on for that 3-2 victory.

[7:17] Heritage Hall is coached by Tommy Riley, a Liverpool England native who played at Oklahoma City University,

[7:22] and also is the head coach at Rose State. He's been the Chargers head coach for the boys since 1998.

[7:30] They're a physical team and they've only suffered one loss this season that was in a curious district loss to out this back on April 5th.

[7:39] The Chargers got a 4-1 win over Newcastle in the first round and a 10-0 shut out over still well in the quarterfinals.

[7:46] Then going on the road and dispatching the Hilldale Hornets on Tuesday night.

[1:06:25] couple of opportunities to bring trophies back to Western Oklahoma, and we'll see

[1:06:30] if we can't get both of those taken care of this evening. So we'll get into our

[1:06:57] Madera off of the assist from Anthony Velasquez was able to equalize. And that was the last

[1:07:05] of the scoring for the game in the first half. Possession was heavily favored

[1:07:11] towards Heritage Hall as they had several opportunities look at and looks at

[1:07:17] the goal just several of them over the top of the bar cross bar and then some

[1:07:24] deflections here and their Clinton defenses has played recovery very well

[1:07:28] several times this evening. On the shots on goal for Heritage Hall they have four

[1:07:33] 4 shots on goal, they've taken 3 direct kicks.

[1:07:36] For your Clinton Red Tornados, they've taken 4 direct kicks and Willie Salcedo has 4 saves

[1:07:42] and 1 shot on goal, which was the goal by Humberto Madera.

[1:18:22] that one play out off of the shot that went wide.

[1:18:29] So Salcedo being put under some duress here as we still need to focus on sustaining possession

[1:18:36] and keeping the attack going.

[1:18:44] Now Argo gets pass Fabian Martinez down the left side of the penalty box.

[1:19:30] So not quite sure of the angle that maybe

[1:19:35] really thought it was going to take but

[1:19:40] it definitely seemed to surprise that it

[1:19:43] went inside the post to him and that's a tough angle right there.

[1:20:06] now, Fabian Martinez keeping it in bounds and then it will fly out of bounds. So

[1:20:13] now Heritage Hall feeling their faithful, agging them on,

[1:20:22] get some correction that could have been Tucker Austin with the goal.

[1:36:19] So, the counterattack by Heritage Hall, unproductive on that one, but they did get a lot of

[1:36:26] tests on our back line as Maddox is pushed forward into the midfield, and that one will be

[1:36:35] handball called on Heritage Hall. As Austin Raynaga will step back to take this one just about 10 yards

[1:36:44] in the Clinton side on the midfield stripe as

[1:36:51] he'll give attackers time to move

[1:36:53] into the back third for Heritage Hall and that one sent into the box. Martinez

[1:37:02] tried to get ahead on it. Now beavers just at the 18-yard box line and now Heritage

[1:37:10] Hall trying to get another quick counterattack and they're off to the races once

[1:37:16] Once again, the Ragazino down the right side, recovering his Carlos de la Fuente,

[1:37:21] pokes it away from him, temporarily.

[1:37:24] Now, Maddox will miss hit that one and it will go out of bounds.

[1:37:39] So Clinton had the fast answer within the first six minutes of the first Heritage Hall goal,

[1:37:46] just haven't been as fortunate now.

[1:37:48] now outspaw with a steal, him and Tucker Austin are pressuring and he's into the box and the quick

[1:37:55] kick by Kason Argos, corraled by Willie Salcedo. You can't undersell the game that Willie Salcedo

[1:38:01] has played here today, as he's been under pretty constant barrage and

[1:38:10] now Maddox, the entree beavers,

[1:38:13] fighting for possession with him and that will go out for a Clinton throw-in.

[1:38:25] So Clinton trying to

[1:38:27] Pull back an equalizer here, deontrade beavers, now to Alex Guzvan.

[1:38:34] Guzvan sends it forward, Renaga and him just not on the same page as it looked like he was sending a forward thinking Austin was going to make a run.

[1:51:40] their time, Argo really just stutter stepping his way out to the corner.

[2:02:28] It was tied at one a piece going into the half, and then five minutes into the second half

[2:02:33] in the 45th minute.

[2:02:34] it was a goal by, and it was Alex outsposs, I saw number 10, the junior in the 45th minute,

[2:02:45] and then Clinton had some opportunities after that in some counterattack spots and things,

[2:02:50] but just could not get past the back line or the goalkeeping of Logan Orket.

[2:02:58] it. So then in the 76 minute Turner Lentz gave the chargers a security goal with a

[2:03:06] goal down deep in Clinton territory. And I'll say this for the outspaw goal, Willie

[2:03:14] Salsito had made so many brilliant saves throughout the game and I just got to say he must

[2:03:21] not have. I didn't see if it was deflected. We'll look at the replay next week as this
