[8:58] I'M Wald Ellis. I was uh fortunate enough to coach these guys here. Uh we

[9:02] went to the state tournament a little over a month ago and uh we finished

[9:07] third uh there, but we had a strong performance. Uh the state director

[9:11] called and asked if we'd be interested in participating in the World Series.

[9:15] And uh despite finishing in third, we didn't have any concerns or any

[9:19] consternation over accepting that. when we went up there uh this past week and

[9:24] uh started out beating or tying the state champion from Mississippi and uh

[9:30] beat a team from Texas. Uh beat the Alabama state champion. So, we got a

[9:35] little revenge back from the state tournament

[9:38] » and uh then we beat the number two team from Louisiana before we were uh before

[9:42] we put out of the tournament. But strong showing, great season, a lot of

[9:45] sacrifice, uh a lot of dealing with adversity and overcoming challenges. uh

[9:50] leadership was developed. Uh so so appreciative of these kids, their

[9:55] parents and all the support from the community in Dothan National. Thank you.

[15:48] prop properly. Um, but I'd like to say, um, thank you to all the city officials

[15:54] who came out to the, uh, District 2 town hall. Um, I think District 2 hadn't had

[15:58] a town hall or community forum or a status update meeting in a number of

[16:02] years. So, I'd like to thank you to U. Mayor Celiba, uh, City Manager Randy

[16:07] Morris, uh, Chief Will Benny, Billy Powell, uh, Commissioner Daniels, uh,

[16:13] Lieutenant Moody, Captain Davis, Officer McCree, um, and, uh, also Shirley

[16:18] Crosby, our, um, admin assistant for helping me put on that event and also

[16:23] taking the time out of their personal time to come out and assist and answer

[16:27] any questions and listen to concerns that the community and people in my

[16:30] district may have. um they were really appreciative for you guys taking that

[16:33] time out and coming out and supporting the district. So, thank you all for

[16:49] invite up Regginal Franklin from the planning department for employee of the

[16:53] month.

[17:15] Regginald Franklin has been a planning department staff member since June 2013,

[17:21] which makes him the longest tenur employee within the department. He was

[17:24] hired to administer the transportation planning process for the Southeast

[17:28] Wiregrass Metropolitan Planning Organization. He ensures Dothan is

[17:32] compliant with federal highway department rules, regulations, and

[17:35] policies while implementing the three C's continuing cooperative and

[17:40] comprehensive transportation planning process for the Dothan metro planning

[17:45] area. His work enables a $2 million approach

[17:51] aortionment that is distributed by the 20 voting members of the organization.

[17:56] Reggie developed various RFPs and was the project manager for many of Dothan's

[18:00] transportation planning projects, including the city's bicycle and

[18:03] pedestrian plans as well as census redistricting process. Reggie is

[18:08] proficient with our geographic information system. He maintains the

[18:12] essential zoning coverage displaying various zoning designations for private

[18:16] property in our approximately 90 square mile city. He also creates many special

[18:21] subject maps such as those for weed and structure abatement processes used at

[18:26] public hearings. Reggie was key in developing the 2020

[18:30] redistricting maps requiring extensive and iterative modeling of various

[18:33] scenarios for the doen city commission. He is the go-to for departmental staff

[18:38] for assistance in GIS matters. If something needs to be mapped, Reggie is

[18:42] the subject matter expert. Reggie is also a part of the land development team

[18:46] as he reviews minor subdivision and development plans. He spends a great

[18:50] deal of time counseling applicants and other parties who have questions about

[18:54] applications within the review process. He explains where the application is in

[18:59] the process and shares what information he can. He consistently represents the

[19:04] department in the best possible light. Reggie has been a leader in the 17

[19:08] member Alabama Transportation Planners Association since its inception.

[19:13] ATPA exists to provide a forum for metropolitan planning organizations or

[19:18] NPOS and rural planning organizations RPOS in the state of Alabama. He

[19:24] currently serves as an organization's chairman.

[19:27] Reggie is a great employee, always prepared, always ready to help, always

[19:32] smiling. Descriptive words that apply to Reggie are reliable, competent,

[19:36] consistent, dependable, diligent, joyful, trustworthy, friendly, father to

[19:42] three, a family man, and trusted basketball referee. It is with great

[19:47] pleasure that we recognize Reggie Franklin as the July 2026 employee of

[19:52] the month.

[23:35] operations team, and this this is true anywhere you go, the operations team has

[23:38] the toughest job in the building, that they're hardly ever getting praised, and

[23:42] I'm guilty of that, but they're the first people to hear when something goes

[23:44] wrong. One thing I do know about Pette, too, is she's the mom of that team right

[23:48] there. I've heard her give everybody advice, look out for everybody, and

[23:51] that's required, and that's needed, and that's going to be part of

[24:53] Good morning. The work at Hudson Alpha centers around three mission areas:

[24:57] research, education, and economic development. Today, I wanted to give a

[25:00] quick update on economic development. In the last five months, we've been able to

[25:04] recruit five act startup companies to move to Dothan, Alabama and to be a part

[25:08] of the Wiregrass Innovation Center. But just as importantly, we started working

[25:12] with local entrepreneurs that live here and work in Dothan and want to grow

[25:17] businesses and start businesses. And I want to give a shout out to my colleague

[25:20] Aaliyah Shawn. Aaliyah has done an incredible job working with

[25:24] entrepreneurs of all aspects. She pours her heart into them. She helps them

[25:29] think about how can I scale my business? How can I make my business better? Few

[25:33] months ago, we had our first founders roadmap where we had seven founders,

[25:37] startup companies come in and spend three or four hours every Saturday

[25:41] learning how to grow their business. Aaliyah did an incredible job. We have

[25:44] four of those founders here today. They're going to quickly tell you about

[25:48] their ideas, their company, and the impact that they want to make in our

[25:52] great community. You sh should have a sheet in front of you and I've circled

[25:55] each one of those four that'll be quickly presenting to you. Thank you for

[27:19] bit more about what I need to do to get this on my farm. So I'm here to tell you

[27:24] that it works. what we're doing here, excuse me, is actually is is beneficial.

[27:29] So, I'm hoping to bring more um more business to the city. Um mayor, I want

[27:35] to come see you here very soon and the council so that uh that beautiful

[27:40] building that we now have across the street, um we can help make up some of

[27:44] the money we spent over there um by saving the city money uh through solar.

[28:57] um different prototypes and making models. And we're also teaching classes

[29:00] so that we can help kids in the underserved community and kids all

[29:03] around Dothan be able to learn how to do 3D printing, how to do modeling and be

[29:07] able to get that engineering mindset. Um being in with a wiregrass um Hudson

[29:11] Alpha has been such an amazing experience. Leah is wonderful and she's

[29:15] a great teacher and um I really look forward to seeing how the Hudson Alpha

[29:20] and the Wiregrass Invasion Center really helps to continue progress in the

[29:23] Watergrass.
