[26:01] the fact that it's September 1st, 2020 says.
[26:04] Thank you.
[26:06] So you have a mission on the floor for items A through C
[26:09] and finances there are seven.
[26:12] Second is this more C, any discussion?
[26:17] All those in favor, please say aye.
[26:20] Aye.
[26:20] Any opposed?
[26:22] Nice to have our admission passes. Now we're on to the Superintendent's report, Mrs. Vicente.
[26:28] All right. Thank you. We will begin with the first floor report, and we'll begin with Jackson,
[26:32] Principal. Good evening.
[26:46] Okay. So, at Jackson's Library and students to exemplify our B rules.
[26:52] So, we respect both of your response. We'll be ready to learn. With a PDIF report called the Jackson Diner.
[26:57] So, we turned our Tunisian into 1950s style diner, the tablecloth, the music, and activity
[27:03] placements.
[27:04] So, students who consistently demonstrated following rules, they got to come in a tent.
[27:10] So, it's not only a fun event, but also recognized positive choices made by our students.
[27:16] This Wednesday, on March 18, Jackson will host our writing readers' workshop, for incoming
[27:22] kindergarten families, for Jackson handports up.
[27:24] This event supports the smooth transition into kindergarten.
[27:29] It gives students the opportunity to meet the Jackson kindergarten team,
[27:33] learn about our program and participate in some interactive sessions.
[27:37] It's my team, so they can practice over the summer to get themselves ready for kindergarten.
[27:42] We'll also share a really great cafeteria provided chicken nuggets.
[27:46] I'm super excited about that.
[27:49] Over that little build relationships and strength in our whole school
[27:53] as we get our newest learning and ready for kindergarten.
[27:57] This is how we get this.
[28:07] Just from what's out there on March 3,
[28:09] we had our kindergarten orientation night.
[28:12] We had to return out and it was such a pleasure meeting
[28:15] so many new families and welcoming them
[28:18] to the courts of our community.
[28:21] Later this week in our active country,
[28:24] we are forward to having our high school MFA.
[28:27] Members come over and read to our students.
[28:29] We always appreciate that partnership with the high school, and our students enjoy the time spent reading and working with the high schoolers.
[28:37] And then a few weeks after an annual lunch week, we have the local ad lab coming to Portseller.
[28:42] We are very, very grateful to our PTO for providing our students with these hand-on opportunities for learning.
[28:49] So there are a few things that are happening in Portseller.
[28:52] All
[28:57] right, so I joined in from the University of School, both kind of center around our thriving students goal at the University of School and across the district.
[29:05] First is our Ag Literacy Week.
[29:08] So we do something every single day.
[29:11] Our epipacions of the high school come down.
[29:14] We're creating something each day for us.
[29:16] Good today was our kickoff assembly.
[29:17] They had activities for our students.
[29:19] They brought in a guest speaker from Ag Rot here to talk about it with the kids.
[29:23] And you have 500 children just sitting there watching a combine,
[29:28] though across the screen, that sees it's playing the process,
[29:31] and it's playing what it does, and it was just silence.
[29:33] I mean, they enjoyed it, they talked about it,
[29:35] they enjoyed the pedal part races, they enjoyed getting in a little half-maxed,
[29:39] like, it's a great activity, and it really shows our students,
[29:43] the kick off of all the different activities that agriculture has in our area.
[29:48] Tomorrow is a video that they students created that they'll do during their science class,
[29:54] in the intermediate school. Wednesday is the big joint, then where they take over the back.
[30:00] On the middle school and they bring in equipment, they bring in different businesses throughout our area, and they tend to do with always very popular as well. Thursday is forestry and wildlife, so we'll have the wood devobile.
[30:15] It is much more interesting than what it might sound like. It's an entire trailer of just wood and different things about it.
[30:22] The people who run in are phenomenal at capturing their attention, showing them all the different things involved with it.
[30:29] And this is a great activity for our students and we appreciate them coming back each year.
[30:33] And then Friday is like a wrap-up activity.
[30:36] We have a day to stay in all the footage.
[30:38] All the pictures are in great a video on gosh with an activity for our students.
[30:42] So we have the energy and school greatly appreciate all the work.
[30:45] But the pace will have a student's due for that.
[30:48] And then we always tie in a dress day, so today we had a bunch of chicks which were dressed in yellow, a couple of cows and pigs, people dressed up as it was dressed like a barn animal, some labyrinth I never saw a lot of that kind of thing, you know, okay, and then we, you know, different days throughout the year to the staff gets into and so it's a great activity.
[31:10] And the other event is coming up in a couple of weeks.
[31:12] We have our third annual boundary in a box.
[31:15] So this is in a pop rate,
[31:18] and this is Martin Jen Martin's position.
[31:21] So they have come back, this is like a third year.
[31:25] And it's a Wednesday and a Friday,
[31:26] we split it up with just our fifth graders
[31:28] and they, BQC, which is the founder and the local boundary.
[31:33] They, through donations,
[31:34] they provide all the materials,
[31:36] they provide their staff coming in.
[31:37] And our third graders see the whole process from literally pouring the metal, finally
[31:42] it down, and there's always a newly created LCO emblem on the downing that gets created
[31:47] each year through the VQC process.
[31:50] So, to greatly, to let our kids just not see one of the different types of jobs out there
[31:55] that we get to experience.
[31:58] That's it.
[31:58] I guess.
[31:59] Question, sir.
[32:00] Yes.
[32:01] Do you mean Woodville Field?
[32:02] Yes.
[32:02] Is that a private entity or a government one and is that's a great question?
[32:09] Honestly, Joe, we know if it is.
[32:13] I think it's a holiday.
[32:15] Do you think it's a holiday?
[32:16] I think it's a holiday.
[32:18] I don't think it's a holiday.
[32:19] But it sounds interesting.
[32:22] It's fair.
[32:23] I truly don't know the answer.
[32:24] But I'll be back to you.
[32:26] It's okay.
[32:28] I just know they're really good.
[32:30] So there's a trace, please come on down.
[32:37] Kind of saying the same theme of,
[32:42] trying to say the theme of careers and things like that last Friday at 13, we actually had our career day.
[32:48] I think it's 15.
[32:49] 48% of everybody should have a lot of different community members.
[32:53] Some say we haven't had it for a long time.
[32:54] We also have a student council.
[32:56] I've read by my school.
[32:57] It's the first time in junior high student council before.
[33:00] I'm not sure how many years we've been for a while.
[33:01] I think it's estimated in the region of conference.
[33:03] Which I think is a huge thing for us growing on the student council, student leadership and being online.
[33:08] I think that's a big one also.
[33:11] I want to talk about acting as well because at that day there's a huge threat that they really started two years ago,
[33:16] making it just so that our middle school kids could engage not at the same length.
[33:21] That's where students get to.
[33:22] We are, I think, obviously, that the kids really enjoy the blood.
[33:25] We have just a grumb mind that you have a presentation.
[33:27] We have the signals in the talk about their farm,
[33:29] I had a drink way in charge of the milk and tried to guess about 1% of the milk.
[33:32] Milk that percentage was and I got every single one wrong.
[33:36] Dave's digger had a lot of fun with that, so that was good.
[33:40] And then we continue all week too.
[33:42] We have our big day on Wednesday.
[33:44] One big difference between the rules school and my school is,
[33:46] our science class presentations are a little different tomorrow,
[33:48] but on Thursday we get more of an industry presentation where the kids are really getting
[33:52] to learn about all the different careers associated with that.
[33:55] We're just really excited to have that partnership and put it to keep growing.
[33:58] that's all in those school levels. We're doing this on this.
[34:05] Okay, so I assume that my principal college is really my cover
[34:07] and we're just doing this. And you're just doing that.
[34:11] So I just want to keep you on the free running this game.
[34:15] We are in the middle and doing a free card series on
[34:18] teacher and for real cooking this with our students.
[34:21] So we held a or we are holding a free card series
[34:24] of workshops, the first workshop.
[34:26] There's one reason they're writing. So we had experts in
[34:30] Some from the Chamber of Commerce, the Dean and we're both from a university in the English class of them.
[34:34] And then we also had a lunch and learn format where any student can sign up for the city and they as workshop either all create them or just one.
[34:42] So the first one made this on resume writing.
[34:45] They came in and presented some great sense to the students on how to present a resume.
[34:49] Some of their trends with resume.
[34:51] And they actually have examples that students could see based on what they had just shared,
[34:56] but they felt they'd be back on their example last days.
[35:00] So I was really able to sit in and hear the students
[35:02] and be back on that.
[35:03] So it works well, provides students with interviews.
[35:06] It's six students who are from two
[35:07] doesn't develop a manager, who pretty much just
[35:10] interview people all day long every day.
[35:13] So they helped her students who prepare for an interview,
[35:16] gave them a sub-general guidelines,
[35:18] and then also have the students practice them
[35:20] and really reach up there.
[35:22] Using questions that were specific to their
[35:23] isn't industry.
[35:24] And finally, this people will be holding mock interviews.
[35:28] So right now, this is one that has over 13 physical professionals coming in.
[35:32] It's a purchase of paid and interview our student.
[35:34] So yeah, we'll be young in the lead English analysis.
[35:36] With many more saying interviews.
[35:38] And then also the students find that for lunch and learn to do a mock interview to find that time as well.
[35:44] So it was really exciting to see all those students,
[35:47] they appear to be poor at the after and sometimes they do these experiences.
[35:50] So we're interested in seeing how to deal on the speed with the market.
[35:55] And I'm also just going to have a look at the students.
[35:57] You're also at the CDC and guidance, actually,
[36:00] and it's from the National Technical Honor Society,
[36:03] as a current technology center.
[36:05] Second graduation, too.
[36:06] J.J. Francis LeBron.
[36:07] She is in the medical center.
[36:09] Alexa Sheathens is a health nurse technology
[36:11] and the immunization is also a technology.
[36:15] It's a technology.
[36:15] So we have a ceremony last week at the CDC.
[36:18] That's a honor offering to this student and just the shout-out for that for CTC.
[36:24] But I will turn them over to see Mr. Nielich for that.
[36:30] Give me everyone, thank you very much.
[36:33] What are the four sort of 50-year-olds productive literacy,
[36:36] and we're a sub-investful piece of all of that.
[36:38] This is a three-by-day tournament.
[36:41] Our voice got defeated by the West York,
[36:42] explaining the state final court of our night.
[36:44] So there's a lot of talent throughout their history,
[36:47] though, in the state of Pennsylvania.
[36:48] But they explicitly came to an end last weekend.
[36:52] A Hershey State Championships for PWA Wrestling for Boys and Girls.
[36:56] We really had a good weekend.
[36:58] I was there with the kids on the girl's side.
[37:01] Junior Kylie Trossal placed four of them were all the state in 112 bound weight loss.
[37:06] The league before she was the District 3 Regional Champion throughout all of District 3.
[37:11] I was fourth in the state and tremendous accomplishment.
[37:13] This medal was the highest such medal we had in the history of the wrestling programs.
[37:18] I'm going back to 2004.
[37:21] I have been able to learn from SMAM Blombock, video on SMAT.
[37:24] On the boy's side, number junior, Flint Miller, place 7 to 160 pound weight class.
[37:30] That is the first boys PNW sake battle. We've had since 2007, Ron and David Ziggler, 70, 20 years ago.
[37:41] I'm just going to say how we can get away from the rest of that matter is, this week out of the NCAA Championships, that would be a one.
[37:49] So in 65% of the rest of the rest of the country.
[37:53] Okay, so I have a big rest of the family, myself, so a bottle out of that closely.
[37:59] Climbeller was named 11 in County, man.
[38:01] That's been a big part of the state of the state.
[38:03] Later, not greater free sports around their way.
[38:06] We're off to a tough start.
[38:07] Every day, I was about to write a, today we have bolsely in that place and what we just found.
[38:14] We'll get there, I mean whether they're on our side, but all schedules are out there, they're all posted.
[38:20] I always laugh when I close this first board schedules because they just get it crossed out and turn upside down in every wish direction.
[38:27] And as I see already started a little press through, a lot to all of our teams and coaching staffs.
[38:33] like a participation should be a nice spring for us. And just, you know, closing one
[38:37] to thank the All-Kill Maintenance Team, a really friendly, open-ended moment, fields and things
[38:42] square away from spring. It's not really easy task. There's always something to do with
[38:46] black communication and work at all, so I just appreciate you. You ever set the maintenance team
[38:51] that's in our facilities and field, but there's going to be a lot of work on sports. Thank you.
[39:01] Hey, man, we have a little update on our DSL population right now. We have about 85
[39:07] English language learners that are ASL teachers are working work directly and right after
[39:12] winner break until the end of February. So for some weeks fan they were administering
[39:18] the yearly test that all of our English language learners have to take all the beta access.
[39:24] And what that is, is the test that measures their English proficiency and is one measure or one
[39:29] data point that we use to determine whether a student is going to active to a monitor status.
[39:34] So, like I said, our three teachers are working with 80 by students individually or in small groups right now.
[39:41] So, they see them, it depends on the student, where they are in terms of their language, or they should see it from anywhere around the time.
[39:47] So, we need to have a day.
[39:49] And once they reach the level of proficiency that's needed, they move on to their center for years.
[39:56] And right now, we have 16 students that are on the monitor center.
[40:01] our active numbers remain pretty steady that has a couple of years between
[40:06] even 85 students, but our monitored numbers continue to grow. So as we are moving
[40:11] to kids to that five or set up for moving students, that also works in.
[40:22] We're talking about the Apple Learning Coach Program. It's a free professional learning program.
[40:27] to have the T-Serve as coaches for their colleagues.
[40:31] We had previously had GDP on behalf of Nick Bright and Cable Strayer
[40:35] to spend in this 40-hour course work,
[40:38] which is some of those things in some of these things.
[40:41] To obtain this certification,
[40:43] those individuals have either been retired,
[40:45] or now back in the classroom.
[40:47] As a result, I was in a conversation with a Jack's media specialist
[40:50] that you reviewed as we decided to apply.
[40:53] So, in the end, you know, we have a good program.
[40:56] We had a week off last Monday, which is webinar and we're currently working through some of the
[41:02] operation of course work and it's about to obtain that certification by the end of the year.
[41:09] Thank you. Just a couple of things. Weather seems to be at top,
[41:14] but lately in the third day, I started the day over at Fort Seller to meet with the staff
[41:19] quickly before the day started. And I was getting already set up in the live-wearing,
[41:24] made sure I was connected to technology, the lights flicker, and got one, flicker to second time.
[41:31] Okay, they came back good. Yeah, well, they flicker the third time when they
[41:35] went down. And with Jody was not there. And with his mom, he went into school with them about
[41:42] 20 minutes to spare. We called him. And she and she went up all the clothes underneath her chair.
[41:47] Can you reach that? So the building was kind of dark. And a lot of battery operated
[41:55] And we are prepared tonight, just in case the power went down, but I had to tell you in that short time.
[42:02] The staff came together as such a team.
[42:05] Specialist said, we don't worry.
[42:06] We got it.
[42:07] We can come up with a plan.
[42:08] I said, how long do you need?
[42:09] They said 45 minutes.
[42:11] Thankfully, four minutes.
[42:11] I was just a small school.
[42:12] I got my steps in that day.
[42:15] In so I said, okay, 45 minutes.
[42:18] One by one, we got the kids back into their classrooms.
[42:21] We had Wi-Fi, ironically. We had security. We also had heat. So we were, and we had food.
[42:30] So we were okay and said, we'll get a message out to parents, but the kids are okay, and they'll stay with us.
[42:36] So we were calling it for a camp for a Zeller. We're friends, they turn to fun. We could just make a fun day out of this.
[42:44] So teachers are great. Pulled together. I have a couple pictures of just them working together because it was just such a really neat moment.
[42:50] maintenance guys, everybody come in together, opening the boxes and just really came together. They
[42:54] love what guys said, let's get lunch and we brought lunch in for the staff. So just as Jody
[42:59] called me, I'm in the lobby and we're ready to kind of do the team break and let camp for
[43:04] it's our start. So just want to say a huge shout to Jofor's other staff, truly how they came together
[43:15] and it was not going to be an issue. They had it, they had a plan and you do have a plan
[43:20] in case the lights go out again. I know, again. They were great about that, but I
[43:24] would like without this. But just wanted to thank the entire Fortseller team really for their
[43:29] professionalism and the commitment and how they came together. I think the kids were a little disappointed
[43:32] that we didn't get to do that. But two other quick things. When I share last year, you heard me talk
[43:38] about the innovation challenge from shop reform. And we had first-end second place. Well,
[43:43] where are winners again? In this year we have the second and third place in the
[43:47] shop for innovation challenge and we will be up at shop in April to recognize the students
[43:54] and so I'll share more information than we'll recognize those students. And then finally,
[43:59] please to share as of like there have been many teacher recruitment opportunities and we have
[44:04] been participating in them. Earlier this month on March 4th, Leavening County how it's first
[44:10] teacher recruitment fair and we were at Cedar Crest for that last week we were
[44:16] done at Miller'sville for their recruitment fair and then on next Friday
[44:20] Cindy will be headed up to the Penn State or at State College for the PSEA
[44:25] Student Conference Teacher Career Fair so looking to secure some teaching
[44:30] this teachers for some of our positions next year but put very please that we've
[44:35] done that for these past three opportunities to share some upcoming dates at
[44:40] announcements. On the 17th tomorrow, we have a two hour late start for students
[44:44] kindergarten of the 12th. The 27th at the end of the third marking period, our spring break
[44:49] is a growth there in through six. April 7th will be the policy curriculum and personnel
[44:55] committee meetings. April 8th will be general services and finance committee meetings.
[45:00] April 17th and 18th will be the Intermediate School Musical and on April 20th we will have the next regular board of education book, committee, not as all.
[45:09] Thank you, appreciate it.
[45:11] All right, now we're on to public comments, items on or off the agenda, residents and taxpayers may make comments concerning items on the agenda, pertain to board governance or the operation of district schools.
[45:22] And now that personnel matters are never discussed at public needs.
[45:26] So is there any items on or off the agenda for public comment?
[45:36] No one for public comment?
[45:39] Okay, we'll move on.
[45:40] Board announcements or comments.
[45:42] Anyone on the board have an announcement or a comment?
[45:44] Yes.
[45:46] I would like to thank the devalling her for her time at the middle school,
[45:51] busy, Mr. Trace,
[45:57] and Brian Eisenhower. I think by the school district called him Brian,
[46:03] I know Brian for probably 25, 28 years, I'm just about two years ago, found out you're not
[46:10] really Brian.
[46:14] But it's very interesting how that goes.
[46:17] Our working people, I appreciate all of them don't force
[46:25] anyone else.
[46:28] Yeah, just acknowledging everyone that's just being in behind the scene, that all this
[46:32] day for the music will open all of them. I've not seen that in years, it was hard to sit there
[46:36] and not sing along. It's awesome.
[46:42] Anyone else? Right, we've been on to old business so
[46:46] or any old business,
[46:51] right?
[46:51] New business, is there any new business?
[46:54] Okay.
[46:55] I'd like to make a motion to add to the agenda, if I can do that,
[47:05] that a person is regarding
[47:07] the committee assignments,
[47:11] requesting the committee assignments submitted by the Work
[47:13] Member to be accepted and that the committee membership be reassigned as follows how we're
[47:18] the general services and magnitude.
[47:23] So first we would, you know, Bill Haydn.
[47:26] So first there needs to be a motion to choose and be a agenda.
[47:30] Yeah. So your first motion is a request to amend the agenda.
[47:36] I'm going to need a first in a second and a majority vote.
[47:39] I'm making a motion to amend the agenda.
[47:41] So second, I'm Mr. Haydn.
[47:44] Mr. Kail.
[47:47] Any discussion?
[47:50] I mean, I think that it's committee for members should be on the committees that ultimately are going to benefit the district and the kids and if that's not.
[47:59] Well, first we have to speak of the first motion to amend.
[48:04] That's yes, that's how that's possible.
[48:06] But if there's any questions about ending the meeting.
[48:11] Okay.
[48:12] So now you're going to take a vote?
[48:14] roll call that man of secretaries.
[48:21] Yeah.
[48:26] Right now there's motion on the floor to amend the agenda.
[48:30] And we'll take a call.
[48:40] Okay, Mr. Santos, how do you go on amend the agenda?
[48:45] No.
[48:46] Mrs. Canner, how do you go?
[48:50] Mr. Weaver, how do you go?
[48:51] No.
[48:53] This is shape or how do you go?
[48:58] Frame or how do you go?
[48:59] or Mr. Kale, how do you go talking?
[49:05] This is more C, how do you go talk?
[49:09] Here and this is where, how do you go?
[49:13] Is there a mission fails?
[49:20] So, any other new business?

[49:37] Thank you, second.

[49:43] Any opposed?
[49:44] Say aye.
[49:45] Aye's habit and we are adjourned.
