I called the meeting door at 6 PM.
[0:07]
Yeah.
[0:08]
Has everybody had a chance to look at
[0:10]
the
[0:12]
minutes
[0:14]
from last month?
[0:22]
I can I can move to approve them.
[0:31]
All right, Chris moved to approve the
[0:33]
minutes. Second of August 5th.
[0:38]
>> All those in favor?
[0:39]
>> I.
[0:41]
>> Those opposed?
[0:43]
>> The eyes have it.
[0:46]
>> Okay. The You want treasures report?
[0:49]
>> Yes, please.
[0:50]
>> Um I passed out the one that says July
[0:54]
30th is the one we're looking at. and
[0:56]
you'll see um that it's fiscal year 2027
[1:01]
and it's got all the budgets and most
[1:04]
things have not been used. There is an
[1:07]
odd thing. She had two different numbers
[1:10]
for books in her paperwork and I think
[1:13]
it's the 112781
[1:16]
that I put at the bottom because my
[1:18]
total didn't add up. Um, but she had put
[1:22]
the 1,114
[1:25]
in the place that I thought it was
[1:26]
supposed to be in. So, I left that
[1:28]
there. It's only $13 difference. So, you
[1:32]
know, my mother would say if you're a
[1:35]
penny off, you're in trouble. But, um,
[1:38]
>> but since I know what what the
[1:40]
discrepancy is, I left that. Now, if you
[1:43]
look under encumbered funds, you'll see
[1:45]
that I've added the 20 25 26 encumbered.
[1:52]
Amy last month was concerned that it was
[1:55]
a higher amount than we usually have and
[2:00]
Jenny and I, we went over that a little
[2:02]
bit. Is are were there inspections that
[2:06]
didn't get done? Is that part of the
[2:08]
problem? Yep. There were um inspections
[2:11]
that um hadn't been completed that are
[2:15]
well the sprinkler is an expensive
[2:17]
expense ex inspection.
[2:20]
Um and then
[2:23]
the
[2:25]
that was the one that I hadn't done this
[2:28]
past year. Um I think $500 was last
[2:32]
year's or the the previous time it was
[2:34]
Dun's bill.
[2:37]
in my report. It still hasn't happened.
[2:38]
The guy scheduled to come and didn't
[2:40]
show up. So, um I can go with the other
[2:44]
company when we get to that part. We can
[2:46]
>> So, the only the only thought I had was
[2:50]
maybe we should take that out of the
[2:51]
escrow account when it comes if it was
[2:55]
really last year's.
[2:57]
>> But we have to talk to Amy about that
[2:59]
because I don't know how that works.
[3:01]
>> Um
[3:03]
>> I had another thought. And the reason we
[3:05]
encumber all that money is because we
[3:09]
get the check at the end of June and we
[3:13]
can't spend the entire quarter. That's
[3:15]
got to take us through the first quarter
[3:18]
of
[3:19]
>> of the year. But if you look if you look
[3:22]
at the balance that's in our checking
[3:24]
account right now, we're we've got a
[3:28]
fair amount of money in there.
[3:30]
Um,
[3:32]
so I had one other thought. Oh, the
[3:36]
other thing is that in 2025,
[3:40]
we had a few weeks that we paid Jenny
[3:44]
and Carol. So, the payroll was higher in
[3:48]
2025 than it was in 2026.
[3:51]
So, that might account for it, too. And
[3:54]
then I've got some CD work to to go
[3:57]
over. I gave you June 20, June 30th,
[4:01]
just for FYI when we do the budget.
[4:17]
So, I think we should
[4:20]
um go with the one year. I know it's not
[4:23]
that much more. Do we want to
[4:26]
>> do you want do you want this to be a
[4:28]
part of the treasur's report then?
[4:30]
>> I it can be
[4:31]
>> okay.
[4:32]
>> Um we have two CDs coming due. It's if
[4:36]
you look on the back of this report,
[4:40]
it's the 20
[4:44]
the 9029 one and the 9011
[4:50]
um and the community bank $10,000
[4:56]
that u was the Carnegie money I I put in
[5:00]
for seven months cuz that was the best
[5:02]
deal and I figured that was fine. these
[5:06]
other two a year is a better deal. It's
[5:09]
the difference between 2.7 and 2 almost
[5:12]
three. Um
[5:16]
my only question is if it comes due next
[5:19]
August, are we going to need that money
[5:21]
for something? Um but
[5:26]
» you're not losing anything if you we
[5:28]
have to pull it out earlier. Yeah,
[5:30]
>> that's true. That's true.
[5:32]
>> And we have some funding. So
[5:34]
>> yeah. So,
[5:35]
>> okay.
[5:36]
>> Go with the better interest rate.
[5:38]
>> So, we'll go with the better interest
[5:39]
rate.
[5:40]
>> So, somebody need I will make
[5:43]
um I will move that we
[5:46]
>> renew our our two Mnt Bank CDs for a
[5:52]
full year.
[5:53]
>> For a full year. I'll second.
[5:55]
>> All those in favor?
[5:57]
>> I.
[5:57]
>> Those opposed?
[6:00]
>> The eyes have it. And then we need an
[6:02]
approval for the
[6:05]
um
[6:06]
>> budget
[6:06]
>> for the report.
[6:08]
>> Who seconded the motion for um
[6:12]
>> Melissa? Good.
[6:18]
[clears throat]
[6:19]
>> I will move that we accept we approve
[6:22]
the treasures report
[6:24]
of July 31st.
[6:29]
>> Yeah. Thank you. July 31st,
[6:33]
2026.
[6:36]
» I'll second.
[6:38]
>> All those in favor?
[6:40]
>> I.
[6:40]
>> Those opposed? The eyes have it.
[6:45]
>> I mean, it's really hard to know how
[6:47]
well we're doing since it's really only
[6:49]
one month into the into the fiscal year.
[6:54]
>> Um, before we get going, did do you need
[6:57]
to talk about something? I I didn't know
[6:59]
if Jenny had it on the agenda. The um
[7:03]
don't issue. [snorts]
[7:05]
>> Thank you.
[7:08]
[clears throat]
[7:09]
>> So, um if I may have two minutes. Um
[7:13]
I've cleaned this library for 10 years
[7:15]
and I've taken the trash to the dump and
[7:18]
no one cared. But now they've really,
[7:21]
you know, they'll arrest me if I show up
[7:23]
without a sticker. And since this is my
[7:26]
job, I use my car. Um, and I don't have
[7:30]
a sticker. Uh, so Hugh has used his
[7:32]
truck um, and taken stuff, but yeah, he
[7:37]
doesn't really like to take his truck
[7:38]
cuz, you know.
[7:39]
>> So, do you want us to buy you a sticker?
[7:42]
>> I I think honestly I think you should go
[7:44]
to the town and say the town municipal
[7:48]
library and, you know, we should have a
[7:51]
sticker. And I don't go to the dump only
[7:54]
with the library. Um
[7:58]
trash
[7:58]
>> the transfer station. You mean?
[8:00]
>> Yeah. No. No. I mean don't. [laughter]
[8:04]
>> I flipped your
[8:05]
>> And are they are they charging you for
[8:09]
>> No, I No, they haven't charged me. Um I
[8:13]
haven't had a problem there. And I don't
[8:16]
suspect they will, but I don't know. I
[8:18]
just, you know, I don't want the town
[8:20]
clerk arrested for not having a state
[8:22]
>> and and and we don't either.
[8:25]
>> So I, you know,
[8:27]
>> I suppose we can actually
[8:29]
>> go to the select board.
[8:31]
>> My first question is is is that your
[8:33]
job?
[8:34]
>> What? To go to the dump?
[8:35]
>> Yeah.
[8:36]
>> Yes, it is.
[8:36]
>> She's a custodian.
[8:38]
>> Yeah, that's part of my custodial duties
[8:40]
>> for here.
[8:41]
>> Yes.
[8:42]
>> Right.
[8:42]
>> Yes. But I'm asking for the town itself
[8:45]
for the
[8:46]
>> No, they they see they pick up there's
[8:48]
somebody that picks up their trash. But
[8:50]
for 10 years, I have, you know, taken
[8:53]
the garbage from here.
[8:55]
>> So they pay for a service to be have it
[8:57]
picked up or somebody in the town picks
[8:59]
it up?
[8:59]
>> Yeah. Somebody comes in every now and
[9:01]
again and and grabs their stuff. But I
[9:04]
have and I don't mind doing it. It's not
[9:06]
It's And I always say I've never I've
[9:08]
never had a sticker. and saw, you know,
[9:11]
everyone knows that I'm coming for the
[9:14]
library. Of course,
[9:15]
>> except for the new guys.
[9:16]
>> The new guys. But I said when I when I
[9:18]
went with um Hugh drove his truck cuz I
[9:22]
hadn't been in two months waiting for
[9:25]
something waiting for kind of fallout to
[9:27]
happen. Um, and I've actually even
[9:31]
talked to people within the office to
[9:33]
say, you know, maybe people who work for
[9:34]
the town in some capacity like this has
[9:37]
a different color sticker that allows
[9:39]
them in. Um,
[9:42]
I don't know. I've never floated that
[9:44]
idea to the board, um, the select board,
[9:47]
but it it doesn't make sense that the
[9:49]
library should have to pay. And, you
[9:51]
know, cross my heart, hope to die. You
[9:53]
know, I I don't go to the dump just
[9:55]
randomly with my car. So, it's only the
[9:58]
library stuff that goes,
[10:02]
but that needs to be brought up to the select board, but you know, it's
[10:06]
not that it's not my place as as a
[10:09]
janitor to do it.
[10:10]
>> And we we we
[10:13]
currently would have to go to Terry
[10:17]
Perry.
[10:18]
>> I think that would be a select board
[10:20]
>> a select board issue.
[10:22]
>> That would be more of a select board
[10:23]
issue. So,
[10:25]
>> do we submit it? Do we submit it to
[10:27]
Terry and Bill and ask to be put on the
[10:31]
>> the agenda for the select board?
[10:33]
>> Yeah,
[10:34]
>> I think that's probably our next step.
[10:37]
>> And when is the next meeting? 15th.
[10:41]
>> I'm not going to be here.
[10:45]
» September 15th, which is a Tuesday.
[10:48]
>> BCA meeting before.
[10:49]
>> And I won't be here that day either,
[10:54]
>> you know. Or you could maybe just write
[10:55]
a letter.
[10:56]
>> I think I think as secretary I'm more
[10:59]
than happy
[11:00]
>> to
[11:01]
>> write a letter
[11:01]
>> to write a letter
[11:03]
>> and ask and in the meantime.
[11:07]
>> Well, you know, [clears throat] I can
[11:09]
get you to take it. You know,
[11:12]
>> I'll I'll do it tomorrow. First of all,
[11:14]
before I call, I'll call I I mean,
[11:17]
before I write it, I'll call her up
[11:19]
tomorrow and and tell her what the
[11:20]
situation is and tell her that the
[11:23]
letter's coming and what the chain of
[11:26]
command or
[11:28]
>> the procedure is to allow the library to
[11:32]
go to the transfer transfer station
[11:34]
because we're a municipal library. We're
[11:38]
the town
[11:40]
>> and that might take care of it. I don't
[11:41]
know. I I walk a tight
[11:45]
line,
[11:45]
>> right?
[11:46]
>> You know,
[11:47]
>> sure. You work enough toes
[11:50]
>> in my day job.
[11:51]
>> Yeah.
[11:53]
>> Okay. So,
[11:54]
>> well, Danny, thank you very much to our
[11:57]
attention.
[11:59]
>> Um,
[12:00]
>> so who wants to make a motion?
[12:02]
>> Oh, do we need one?
[12:04]
>> Um,
[12:04]
>> I'm just putting Sil will write a
[12:06]
letter.
[12:07]
>> Okay,
[12:08]
>> I can make a motion. I'll second it.
[12:11]
Write it out the way you have or however
[12:14]
you want to [snorts] write it.
[12:14]
>> I'll send it out to everybody. Okay.
[12:16]
>> Before I mail it to the Terry and Bill.
[12:21]
>> So, the motion is to have secretary
[12:25]
>> write a letter to their board of
[12:27]
selectmen
[12:29]
requesting the ability to take
[12:33]
our municipal libraries trash
[12:37]
to the transfer station
[12:38]
>> free of charge.
[12:42]
as we have for over 10 years. I don't
[12:44]
know why without a sticker always
[12:45]
forever. Did you
[12:47]
>> just give us a sticker without a
[12:49]
sticker?
[12:49]
>> Give us a sticker.
[12:50]
>> Just give us a sticker.
[12:51]
>> Yeah. Asking for a sticker
[12:58]
» and and no punch card needed.
[13:12]
Thank you.
[13:13]
>> Thank you. Thank you, Danny.
[13:16]
>> For all favors.
[13:18]
>> Thank you for all the favors. You
[13:19]
>> That's right. Do Did we have a Did that
[13:22]
pass the motion to have seal?
[13:25]
>> Cuz I All
[13:26]
>> in favor?
[13:27]
>> I
[13:28]
>> All those opposed.
[13:29]
>> The eyes have it
[13:35]
there. It's official.
[13:36]
>> Yeah. I I mean it's I I think it's just
[13:41]
um I know that the transfer station is
[13:43]
losing money and that was the issue.
[13:46]
>> It wouldn't be an issue, but I just
[13:49]
don't want it to be
[13:51]
>> No, that's all right. That we're we're
[13:53]
willing to do that. I mean, that is our
[13:55]
responsibility.
[13:58]
>> Thank you, Danny.
[14:01]
>> Put the trash away.
[14:06]
Thank you very much, guys.
[14:08]
>> Sure. Anytime.
[14:10]
>> Okay. Librarians report
[14:18]
August.
[14:20]
Uh we open 22 days. Uh circulation was
[14:23]
846 items.
[14:26]
Um,
[14:31]
I took in 71 new books and I did some
[14:36]
weeding of the fiction section
[14:38]
mostly.
[14:41]
Um,
[14:42]
we had six new library cards.
[14:46]
One was paid with a check. So, when we
[14:49]
get down here to petty cash, that's the
[14:52]
um discrepancy [music] down there.
[14:58]
I don't like the way we record Wi-Fi,
[15:00]
but that's what I
[15:02]
saw. Um, and then the signatures for the
[15:05]
computer.
[15:07]
Um, volunteer hours are 11675.
[15:13]
And then the pettic
[15:15]
you can see down there.
[15:21]
Sorry, it's copied funky. So when you
[15:23]
flip it over, it's upside down. Um,
[15:25]
genealogology club met um second time
[15:29]
via Zoom. We had two people in
[15:31]
attendance with Zoom for total. Um, book
[15:34]
club discussed braiding sweetg grass. We
[15:36]
had a
[15:38]
lot of discussion. Not a lot of people
[15:40]
finish the book, but a lot of
[15:41]
discussion. Um, next we're reading The
[15:43]
Vatican Conspiracy by Peter Hopen Camp
[15:46]
and I'm working with him to come talk at
[15:49]
the library in October sometime
[15:52]
hopefully.
[15:54]
Um,
[15:56]
[snorts]
[15:56]
August take and make was a pipe cleaner
[15:59]
rainbow and everyone was taken. And then
[16:01]
we have this cute little welcome fall
[16:03]
sticker hanger. It's a simple task.
[16:07]
um small hands can do it really easily
[16:10]
or difficult fingers. Uh story time had
[16:13]
two sessions in August the last two
[16:16]
sessions. Miss Nadler and Miss Mingo um
[16:19]
read
[16:21]
and uh 25 kids total. Nope. 25. Yep. 25
[16:26]
kids total and 20 adults. Um very
[16:29]
thankful for all these grave and grade
[16:31]
school
[16:33]
people for coming and giving their time.
[16:36]
Uh, Captain,
[16:37]
>> we're really getting a good turnout.
[16:38]
>> Yeah. And the um the
[16:41]
teachers coming were very I'm very
[16:43]
thankful for them. Um, Captain Aquatics
[16:47]
came on August 3rd with all of his
[16:49]
creatures and it was super duper fun.
[16:52]
Um, Lego Robotics had three sessions in
[16:55]
August and the girls did a great job.
[16:59]
They built all these different creations
[17:01]
and used um gears and computer programs
[17:05]
and they put on a little presentation
[17:07]
with the adults on the last half hour of
[17:09]
their time. They did a really good job.
[17:12]
Had a little uh amusement park carnival
[17:16]
thing they created.
[17:18]
>> Was Was that only for girls?
[17:20]
>> She only offered it to girls. I think
[17:23]
she she kind of transitioned through her
[17:25]
brainstorming of how she was going to do
[17:26]
the program, but she ultimately decided
[17:27]
that it was just girls. Um she was
[17:30]
noticing that as they get older, it's
[17:33]
mostly boys in the programming. And so I
[17:35]
think she was very excited that there
[17:36]
were girl interest in it, but so that's
[17:39]
why she kept it only to girls.
[17:45]
Um, she did say that uh she'd like to
[17:48]
come back next year, but she'd like to
[17:50]
only offer it to new people. So, not to
[17:53]
have the same girls come through to give
[17:55]
everybody a taste of it if she does
[17:56]
bring it back next year.
[18:00]
Um, end of summer reading um was Friday,
[18:04]
August 14th.
[18:06]
I really wasn't sure what was going to
[18:08]
happen with that event, but we had six
[18:11]
um students and six adults come and we
[18:13]
pulled the raffle um prizes
[18:17]
and we did a little story time and some
[18:19]
coloring and got a goodie bag to end the reading season. Um and then about a
[18:28]
third of all of the challenges that were
[18:30]
taken out came back um in almost every
[18:34]
level. little less for the mid grade
[18:37]
there.
[18:39]
Um and then the day ended with the
[18:41]
Vermont History Museum and I was a
[18:42]
little disappointed cuz not we only had
[18:44]
one adult one student come to that one.
[18:46]
It was a really amazing um presentation
[18:49]
that she gave about the Wheeler family.
[18:53]
Lots of fun facts, lots of really cool
[18:56]
pictures.
[18:56]
>> What town were were they from?
[18:58]
>> I cannot pronounce it properly. C A L A
[19:01]
I S. Yep. um as where the Wheeler family
[19:05]
was from. And so it was it was really
[19:07]
interesting. She gave the library free
[19:09]
passes for families to go to the Vermont
[19:12]
History Museum um for the year. And she
[19:16]
also has a few other programs. They have
[19:18]
a um
[19:21]
trivia party that they can do, which
[19:23]
could be a really cool thing to do with
[19:26]
um
[19:28]
Carnegie
[19:29]
>> Mhm.
[19:30]
>> stuff if that's something. And it's a
[19:32]
free program. and they do charge travel.
[19:34]
Um that's the only thing they charge
[19:36]
for.
[19:36]
>> And I think it'd be great to to do it in
[19:38]
collaboration with the Fair Haven
[19:40]
Historical Society.
[19:42]
>> So that um she said to just communicate
[19:44]
with them if that was something that we
[19:45]
did want to schedule with that, but the
[19:47]
trivia's adult people uh and kids and I
[19:51]
think that it could be a really fun
[19:53]
thing to do.
[19:56]
Um
[20:01]
storywalk. I just put storywalk up this
[20:03]
past weekend. [laughter]
[20:06]
Took four and a half hours. It was it was a lot, but it was really
[20:11]
interesting. Um I wanted to do it all
[20:16]
throughout the summer. I just couldn't
[20:17]
find the time to get out there and do
[20:18]
it. Um, but I came I got the signs um
[20:23]
from the Sheldon's and I had them at my
[20:25]
house and I went through and looked at
[20:26]
all the books from previous years and
[20:29]
almost all of them are all there. We're
[20:31]
missing one from um the Champ book.
[20:36]
>> One page
[20:37]
>> Chris Van Dusen one page from the Champ
[20:40]
book.
[20:41]
>> Um so that's the only one that doesn't
[20:43]
have all of its bits and pieces
[20:44]
together. You ought to just reach out to
[20:46]
Judy and Nate to make sure that it isn't
[20:48]
stuck somewhere.
[20:49]
>> Or maybe it's back here.
[20:50]
>> I looked in here and I found totes in
[20:53]
here and I like had the totes from your
[20:55]
family and um Charlotte and I went
[20:57]
through all the pages and she got a
[20:59]
stack together and then I double checked
[21:00]
them and there's that is the only one
[21:01]
that one page is missing. Um so it might
[21:05]
be somewhere it might have been taken by
[21:07]
somebody too. I mean who
[21:08]
>> I guess that's pretty good. I think so.
[21:11]
Yeah, there's what four books
[21:13]
>> uh in total. There's like there's a lot
[21:15]
of there's like 12 maybe there's more
[21:17]
than that. I mean there's a lot of books
[21:18]
up there because
[21:19]
>> we did it for several years and every
[21:21]
month was a different book.
[21:22]
>> I think it was every week. You had every
[21:24]
week for a while in there that it was a
[21:26]
different book from that's what some of
[21:28]
the
[21:30]
uh intro letters say.
[21:31]
>> Right. Okay.
[21:32]
>> Um
[21:35]
so anyways,
[21:36]
>> I think I think that might have been
[21:38]
early when we didn't think it was going
[21:39]
to be as much work.
[21:41]
>> Right. Right. because we I mean the
[21:44]
friends of the library came down and we
[21:46]
>> decorated the pages and things and then
[21:49]
the school laminated them for us.
[21:51]
>> So, it's it's really nice that it's
[21:53]
being used again because
[21:56]
>> well, it was really cute because
[21:57]
Charlotte and I were putting them in and
[22:00]
um I had to go home cuz my car wasn't
[22:02]
big enough to put all the things in and
[22:04]
so I had to go home and I had to come
[22:05]
back and when we came back there was
[22:06]
people already reading the story. I was
[22:08]
like, "It's [laughter] not done."
[22:10]
And there was one guy who was like, "Oh,
[22:11]
this beautiful artwork in the park." And
[22:13]
I'm like, "No, it's a story." So,
[22:15]
anyways, people were already looking at
[22:16]
it the day we were putting it out. It
[22:17]
was a beautiful day.
[22:18]
>> No, they they really do enjoy going
[22:21]
reading the story walk.
[22:22]
>> So, I'm I don't 100% know how to record
[22:26]
statistics for it. Um I guess in the
[22:28]
past, what my understanding is, you just
[22:30]
kind of took 10 people a day and that
[22:32]
was who saw it. So, I'm not really sure.
[22:35]
Um, part of what I'd still like to do is
[22:38]
be I'm going ahead of myself, but I'm
[22:40]
gonna that anyways. I'm not doing story
[22:43]
time in September because it I have a
[22:45]
class um cataloging class that's exact
[22:48]
time of story time and so I'm not doing
[22:50]
it also because it's the beginning of
[22:52]
the school year and I just think it's
[22:53]
too much in general. So, I was hoping
[22:56]
that I could make a sign that says,
[22:58]
"Come to the library for a little
[23:00]
take-home craft for your story time that
[23:02]
is simple that you could do at home.
[23:05]
it would be like this is the story time
[23:07]
in the park as well. Um, so I haven't
[23:12]
completed that part of it yet. I still
[23:15]
have to work on that part. And I also
[23:17]
haven't put a a sign up really
[23:20]
indicating exactly what it is. There's
[23:21]
the map and then there's a start of the
[23:23]
book, but there's no like sign created
[23:26]
yet um to tell people what it is and
[23:29]
what's going on cuz the ones that were
[23:32]
created are dated and so I couldn't
[23:35]
reuse those completely,
[23:37]
>> right? Cuz they were usually dedicated
[23:39]
in memory or in honor of someone.
[23:41]
>> And I also along the way posts have been
[23:46]
are I don't have all the posts that came
[23:48]
with it too. So, I had to adapt some of
[23:50]
them and I believe that Nate might have
[23:52]
used some of them for other purposes and
[23:55]
they've
[23:56]
>> that's what they are. Or maybe
[23:58]
>> I know several got run over.
[24:00]
>> Somebody ran over. Okay. [laughter]
[24:02]
Okay. So, there's a few that are not
[24:04]
there. So, I had to adapt some of them
[24:06]
to make it all all work, but it is out
[24:08]
there. And I'm hoping that I can change
[24:11]
the story weekly and have a craft of
[24:13]
some sort that people can come in and
[24:15]
get the craft and that can be a way that
[24:17]
I count
[24:19]
who's using it. Right.
[24:21]
>> That's that was what
[24:22]
>> we did that before. We we did that
[24:24]
before that there was something that
[24:26]
they could pick up, some prize that they
[24:28]
could pick up at the library after they
[24:30]
went
[24:30]
>> sort of like a scavenger hunt kind of
[24:32]
thing or some little questionnaire that
[24:35]
they had to fill out and then they
[24:36]
brought it back and that's how we
[24:38]
>> well they got something and
[24:40]
>> and I'm sure there's people that went to
[24:42]
the story walk that didn't come to the
[24:43]
library. just part of it being in the
[24:46]
park and being
[24:47]
>> and now that school's in session, I
[24:48]
don't know if they have to
[24:51]
>> if it has to be a field trip to go to
[24:53]
the park. Probably does.
[24:54]
>> Yeah.
[24:54]
>> But [clears throat] but even in the
[24:56]
past, you know,
[24:58]
>> who who I I'm not like
[24:59]
>> it'd be nice to, you know, to take the
[25:01]
kids out to to read the story.
[25:04]
So anyways, it's there and I'm hoping to
[25:06]
keep it up through the first week in
[25:08]
October because that is what my class is
[25:11]
and so I'll take it down then and I'll
[25:13]
put it away. Um I'm think I'm going to
[25:15]
try to use the little space under the
[25:18]
stairs to put the posts in
[25:23]
um to store them cuz I don't have a
[25:26]
spare piece at my house to put them.
[25:29]
>> Yeah. And Judy didn't want them back.
[25:31]
>> No, she doesn't want them back. So we'll
[25:32]
put them in that area. So that's kind
[25:34]
>> we have a little bit of space under
[25:35]
there, I think. Y
[25:36]
>> there might be a space in the other far
[25:38]
corner over here, but I feel like under
[25:39]
the stairs is out of
[25:41]
>> I think it's safer. That's too close to
[25:43]
the you know.
[25:44]
>> Okay,
[25:46]
so that's kind of my thought with that.
[25:47]
So that is um Oh, that was my upcoming
[25:51]
programs. So that's my big thing for
[25:52]
September. I don't have a lot of other
[25:54]
things planned in September right now.
[25:56]
Um the friends of the library do have
[25:57]
their book sale on the 19th from 10:00
[25:59]
to 12:00. It's the same day as the Apple
[26:01]
Fest. Um, so hopefully it'll get people
[26:04]
in here um to play around.
[26:08]
Um, the meeting space was used as a
[26:10]
workspace and then for the one party.
[26:13]
Um, and then the friends of the library
[26:15]
have met three times. I think I put down
[26:17]
in here August 12th for their creating
[26:21]
the angel design. Um, 18th to do the
[26:24]
book sort and the 26th to create
[26:27]
creation of the Christmas angels. Um,
[26:31]
I actually I do you want to share what
[26:34]
the design is?
[26:37]
>> Oh. Um yeah, we
[26:38]
>> Well, it's time secret.
[26:40]
>> Well, I don't know. I mean, [laughter]
[26:43]
maybe it is. The reveal has to wait till
[26:47]
>> the friends do sort of keep that design
[26:50]
secret until until they come to
[26:53]
undecorate the undecorate the tree. Yes.
[26:56]
>> Okay. So, the angels are created or
[26:58]
being decided and they're being created.
[27:00]
They're in the process of creation.
[27:02]
They're meeting again on next Wednesday
[27:04]
to do some more creation. So, um that is
[27:09]
that.
[27:10]
Okay. The telephone company, we didn't
[27:12]
have telephone for like 2 weeks. Um and
[27:16]
they finally came and fixed the line.
[27:19]
And within that same time, I finally got
[27:21]
a quote and I signed the quote for the
[27:25]
telephone company. Um, and I spoke to
[27:28]
this other gentleman about starting it
[27:30]
up and he was going to contact me for a
[27:33]
date to transition
[27:37]
and I haven't heard back from him for a
[27:38]
date to transition yet. So, we are in
[27:41]
that limbo.
[27:44]
Signed quotes for the transition time
[27:46]
frame.
[27:49]
Um, Green Mountain Sprinklers were
[27:50]
supposed to come on August 14th. I have
[27:53]
no idea what happened. Um, I do admit
[27:55]
that I noticed he didn't come. I called
[27:58]
on the 14th and then I forgot about it
[28:01]
for a little bit and I went away and I
[28:03]
came back and I was like, "Oh yeah, the
[28:04]
sprinkler guy never came." And so I've
[28:05]
been call I've been calling him about
[28:07]
every other day since it came back. um
[28:10]
he's not gotten to call the
[28:14]
>> So I did reach out to and I don't
[28:17]
remember the other group's name right
[28:19]
now but I did reach out to another group
[28:22]
that we had contacted in in the past um
[28:26]
who had sent a contract to be signed but
[28:28]
then Green Mountain came to do the work
[28:31]
and we didn't continue with that group.
[28:33]
this group needs some more um
[28:37]
information from us before they can come
[28:39]
do an inspection. So I can reach out to
[28:42]
them if um like me to.
[28:46]
>> Well, we
[28:48]
>> the motion from last time was for Green
[28:51]
Mountain Sprinkler, but if they don't
[28:52]
come, we we got to get those. It's not optional.
[28:55]
>> Got to be done before the end of the
[28:57]
year.
[28:58]
>> So I can It's not an option that we
[29:00]
>> So I can reach out to other company.
[29:03]
>> They sent me an email with some
[29:07]
information to fill out.
[29:08]
>> Okay. um when I which I didn't complete
[29:11]
because we were going I had the
[29:13]
appointment with Green Mountain and to
[29:14]
continue with them so I can find that
[29:16]
email and
[29:19]
complete that part if you guys would
[29:21]
like me to to try to get the spranglers
[29:23]
inspected and I can still try to go with
[29:25]
Green Mountain. I'm kind of worried
[29:26]
about the guy like I don't know why he
[29:27]
didn't show up and doesn't want to call
[29:29]
me back. So
[29:31]
>> yeah. Um,
[29:33]
>> do you want Jenny to do it or do you
[29:34]
want to
[29:35]
>> No, you go ahead. Finish filling out
[29:37]
whatever you can with that paperwork and
[29:38]
if you have any questions, give me a
[29:40]
call.
[29:40]
>> Okay.
[29:41]
>> When are you leaving?
[29:42]
>> The 11th
[29:43]
>> of September.
[29:44]
>> Yes.
[29:44]
>> Okay.
[29:46]
I'm going to write that down.
[29:49]
>> Just so that we get that
[29:52]
taken care of.
[29:55]
The royal group came and the fire alarm
[29:57]
inspection happened and everything was
[29:58]
okay. The bill came. I passed it in to
[30:01]
Amy. This was not a missed inspection.
[30:03]
The fire and sprinklers was a missed
[30:05]
inspection.
[30:07]
Um, Royal Group wasn't. They came, did
[30:11]
their bit.
[30:14]
I don't know why I have StoryWalk there
[30:16]
twice. Oh, because I wanted to talk
[30:17]
about it twice. I think I told you
[30:19]
everything about Storywalk.
[30:21]
We're closed on Monday for Labor Day.
[30:23]
>> Yep.
[30:24]
>> And then the next meeting is October
[30:26]
7th.
[30:30]
And I think that that is it.
[30:34]
>> Thank you.
[30:40]
My cast class is on cataloging.
[30:42]
>> Oh,
[30:48]
but not not like Dewey decimal or is it
[30:51]
Dewey decimal?
[30:52]
>> It's entirely all what's in there.
[30:54]
>> It's a different teacher. So, I'm not
[30:56]
sure. Um
[30:59]
I have just on cataloging and I'm sure
[31:02]
that all types of cataloging will be in
[31:04]
there. Oh, good.
[31:08]
So I will just uh did uh Judy Sheldon
[31:14]
come in to you and ask about the art
[31:16]
club using the
[31:18]
>> She did not.
[31:19]
>> Okay. So, um I guess I'll bring it to
[31:22]
the board then because the art club for
[31:24]
the past since co has been using the
[31:28]
library um to meet the first Mondays of
[31:33]
the month of I believe it's just no
[31:37]
January, February, and March.
[31:40]
Um
[31:42]
>> on Mondays
[31:44]
>> at 1:00.
[31:45]
>> Well, I usually show up at 12:30. I have
[31:47]
a key. So, I I let folks in and then
[31:50]
we're always out before Kathy or
[31:52]
whoever's working that day um comes in.
[31:58]
So, we've been doing it well since co
[32:01]
but
[32:04]
we get that permission from you.
[32:07]
Room use is your
[32:12]
Yeah, [laughter]
[32:15]
you've got the power. [laughter]
[32:21]
Is the board okay with her continuing to
[32:23]
use it on Mondays when the library is
[32:25]
not?
[32:26]
>> I will recuse myself from that one since
[32:27]
I'm on the art club. But yeah. Is it is
[32:30]
it every Monday or is it just
[32:31]
>> No, just the first Monday of the month
[32:33]
for those three months because we don't
[32:35]
and the reason we do that is because
[32:39]
we don't like to use other people's cuz
[32:42]
the art club meets in people's homes or
[32:45]
has for about 125 years and um but
[32:52]
during COVID and some other times we
[32:54]
just wanted a place that was spaced out
[32:56]
and was handicap accessibility and
[33:00]
didn't require people to drive.
[33:04]
>> Plus, people that are in the club are
[33:06]
aging in terms of it used to be a big
[33:09]
event to have it in your house, right?
[33:11]
>> And now these people aren't really
[33:13]
prepared to do that,
[33:14]
>> right?
[33:17]
Some of them are 90s in their 90s. Yep.
[33:24]
But I just would bring that up
[33:27]
to the board. It's fine with me.
[33:32]
>> Yeah.
[33:34]
>> As long as it's okay with Jenna.
[33:36]
>> That's right. That's That's right. It's
[33:37]
my decision [laughter]
[33:38]
according to our policy. It's your
[33:40]
decision.
[33:43]
>> Okay.
[33:46]
Any other old business? Uh yeah, I
[33:48]
finally got in touch with the
[33:52]
um
[33:54]
door guy.
[33:57]
Um and I also got in touch with Rob. Rob
[34:00]
has I gave Rob Walker some photographs
[34:05]
and some measurements and he hasn't put
[34:08]
anything together for me just yet.
[34:12]
And I had talked with Steve
[34:18]
I'm going to bastardize his name, so I'm
[34:19]
not going to say it. I will let you know
[34:21]
what that spelling is. He gave me a
[34:24]
price of 29.40.
[34:28]
2,940 for the door
[34:32]
and for a contractor to install it would
[34:35]
be $1,500,
[34:37]
which seems a little expensive to me,
[34:39]
but
[34:41]
I said I would bring it back to the
[34:43]
board and I'm hoping that I get
[34:46]
something from Rob so we have something
[34:48]
to go with. Um, I did contact him again
[34:51]
today and asked him if he had a chance
[34:54]
cuz it was uh the 24th was when he text
[34:58]
me last and I said
[35:01]
um I asked him if he could build it and
[35:05]
give us you know give us an estimate to
[35:07]
build it and install and I haven't heard
[35:10]
anything back from it.
[35:11]
>> That's Rob your Walker Walker
[35:14]
>> and the other guy was Steve somebody
[35:17]
>> Steve
[35:19]
L U G
[35:21]
>> Y
[35:21]
>> O N Y
[35:23]
>> B U H.
[35:25]
>> Oh, I can see. [laughter]
[35:28]
>> Oh, Lugen.
[35:30]
>> Lugenba.
[35:33]
>> I have no idea.
[35:34]
>> Like I said, I don't I didn't really
[35:36]
want to mess it up. So,
[35:38]
>> okay. So, what would be nice is if we
[35:40]
got a quote from Rob Walker and then we
[35:42]
could say we had two quotes and we could
[35:46]
decide on
[35:48]
>> our best one. [snorts] My first
[35:49]
>> Well, they're both less than the ones we
[35:52]
got from
[35:53]
>> Yeah,
[35:53]
>> cuz um
[35:57]
I'm
[35:59]
Yeah. Um Richard said that it would be
[36:02]
about five grand.
[36:03]
>> Kum. Okay. So, this is this is close to
[36:05]
five grand,
[36:06]
>> right?
[36:07]
>> 4500. 4,500. My first reaction is, "Oh,
[36:10]
you've you've got a quote. We go with
[36:12]
it." [laughter]
[36:14]
>> Well, someone back
[36:16]
>> and it's less than $10,000,
[36:18]
>> right?
[36:19]
>> Yeah.
[36:20]
>> Which is
[36:20]
>> Well, actually, we've had we've had
[36:22]
[clears throat] basically now four,
[36:24]
>> right?
[36:25]
>> One was from the um Royal Glass and then
[36:29]
from
[36:31]
>> I can never remember their names over
[36:33]
there by Hannerford. Um they were 15,000
[36:37]
and Portland. That's right.
[36:39]
>> And Royal was uh 10 grand. But
[36:44]
>> both of them were wanting to place
[36:47]
everything to begin with, but I talked
[36:49]
Royal into just doing the lower half and
[36:53]
that was 10 grand. So,
[36:56]
and we just want the door replaced.
[37:00]
So,
[37:02]
>> so do we want to do you want us to wait
[37:04]
until we hear from Rob or do we want to
[37:06]
go with
[37:08]
>> um if if I can get an something from
[37:11]
him, I will forward that to everybody on
[37:13]
the board and we can work it that way.
[37:15]
We'll do it through emails and work it
[37:18]
that way.
[37:19]
>> Okay.
[37:19]
>> One way or the other. and and my
[37:22]
reaction is if we don't hear from Rob or
[37:25]
he doesn't get back to you in a timely
[37:27]
fashion, we go with the other guy.
[37:30]
>> And he said he wouldn't be able to do it
[37:31]
until next year.
[37:32]
>> Okay.
[37:33]
>> Well, I don't think anybody's going to
[37:35]
be able to do it until next year. It
[37:36]
depends on, you know,
[37:38]
>> weather,
[37:41]
» right?
[37:42]
>> But still, we get it in the
[37:44]
>> we get on his list.
[37:46]
>> Right.
[37:48]
>> Okay.
[37:49]
I did call
[37:53]
John Trac I It might be Joseph Tracy or
[37:57]
it's anyways Mr. Tracy at the glass.
[38:00]
>> Yep.
[38:01]
>> And he's got the picture. He says it's
[38:03]
something he thinks he could easily do.
[38:06]
Um he said the window would need to be
[38:09]
releted. Um
[38:12]
uh but he is a master craftsman at this
[38:15]
part for those kinds of things. So, he's
[38:19]
going to call me back with a time or
[38:21]
place. I'm not sure he cuz sometimes he
[38:24]
calls the library. So, if you hear
[38:26]
anything from a Mr. Tracy about the fan,
[38:31]
that's what it is. Okay.
[38:35]
Uh he lives about an hour and a half,
[38:37]
two hours south. Um but he
[38:42]
I he he got back to me. It was a
[38:45]
>> Yeah.
[38:46]
So, um, I did look I did look up
[38:49]
his work and
[38:51]
>> it's pretty pretty spectacular. I I I
[38:55]
would assume
[38:57]
>> that we want it to look the same. We
[38:59]
don't need any colored glass or stained
[39:01]
glass or anything, just the fan window
[39:03]
as was in the original
[39:06]
>> building. So, that's what I told him,
[39:09]
but he said because it's that old and it
[39:11]
would have to be [clears throat]
[39:13]
releted.
[39:15]
But he said there's only a couple broken
[39:17]
pieces and they would be easy to
[39:19]
replace. But
[39:21]
yeah,
[39:22]
>> question
[39:29]
because that is something requested on
[39:30]
the HUD grant. Do we have to No, don't
[39:34]
have to.
[39:34]
>> That was not
[39:36]
>> not requested.
[39:38]
>> That that work was not considered in the
[39:42]
application for the HUD grant. Okay.
[39:48]
» The HUD grant was to um do the brick
[39:52]
work
[39:53]
>> and
[39:54]
>> some broken windows but not
[39:56]
>> ceiling of
[39:58]
>> all the windows and doors to the brick.
[40:02]
>> I was under the impression that that was
[40:04]
the stained glass window that was in
[40:08]
>> That's the fan window.
[40:09]
>> Okay. And that has nothing to do with
[40:12]
the other windows. water damage or
[40:15]
anything like that.
[40:20]
» So, yeah, that's a totally separate
[40:25]
something the friends have tried to get
[40:28]
fixed for a very long time and it was
[40:31]
just Judy found somebody.
[40:35]
>> Thank you.
[40:36]
>> You're welcome. [laughter]
[40:37]
>> Yes.
[40:39]
>> I will send you all of Mr. Tracy's,
[40:43]
>> you sent something out.
[40:45]
>> Yeah, I sent it. Did everybody got it
[40:47]
right with the pictures and everything?
[40:49]
>> Yeah.
[40:51]
>> So, I think um I think it's back in his
[40:56]
ballpark,
[40:57]
>> but um I will give him a call.
[41:02]
That'd be nice to have.
[41:03]
>> Yeah,
[41:06]
>> pretty soon.
[41:08]
>> Okay.
[41:10]
Any other new or old business?
[41:14]
>> Well, yes, we're going to do the budget.
[41:17]
[laughter]
[41:19]
>> Well, that's what the main meeting is
[41:21]
supposed that's what our meeting really
[41:22]
is about today is our budget.
[41:25]
>> If
[41:26]
>> not really old, not really new. So,
[41:30]
>> the budget,
[41:30]
>> if you look at June's
[41:33]
statement,
[41:34]
>> right, you'll see
[41:37]
that
[41:38]
>> where we ended up. Well, first of all,
[41:40]
under salaries, we had $5,000 left over,
[41:46]
which
[41:48]
almost feels like, you know, some of
[41:50]
that some of that is that double month
[41:53]
that we had. So, I don't know. Anyway,
[41:56]
that's interesting. [snorts]
[41:57]
Um,
[42:02]
and everybody got their pay increases
[42:04]
last year.
[42:06]
>> I I hope so. Yes. as far as I know.
[42:10]
Right, Jenna? You got your raising
[42:13]
everyone.
[42:13]
>> Yeah, Amy's pretty good on that.
[42:15]
>> And see the books. We didn't order as
[42:19]
many books. That's another place. And I would assume that don't don't you
[42:26]
think that's partly Jenny you getting
[42:29]
>> I think it's the Baker and Taylor
[42:31]
closing and not knowing where to buy
[42:33]
books from and me learning what to buy
[42:37]
and how to buy. Um so I also there's
[42:43]
been a lot of talk amongst the
[42:45]
librarians about um the co average cost
[42:47]
per book is going up as well. Um, so,
[42:51]
>> so that'll take care of that,
[42:52]
>> I think. So,
[42:55]
>> um, the digital overdrive last year we
[42:59]
increased it to 5,500
[43:01]
and that's about what we spent.
[43:05]
The media is way down. Um, we've got
[43:09]
$1,000 there, but we only spent $55.
[43:13]
>> We don't Nobody's taking out the DVDs
[43:16]
anymore.
[43:17]
>> Sorry, I didn't take that statistic. um
[43:19]
with me
[43:20]
>> so we could find some money there. Um
[43:26]
the
[43:28]
let me see
[43:31]
there was one other one automation
[43:36]
under automation.
[43:38]
Um well no that it's still it's still in
[43:43]
there what I noticed in July that the
[43:45]
automation was already pretty high. you
[43:48]
>> $800.
[43:49]
>> Is that because we have to pay twice a
[43:52]
year six months around about $800?
[43:55]
>> That's going to be all right. Okay. And
[43:57]
the other one is the inter library loan.
[43:59]
We spent $1,200 and only had 600 in the
[44:02]
budget and we only had 600 last year.
[44:05]
So, we [snorts] could take that money
[44:07]
from
[44:08]
the grant. The grant covers the grant
[44:11]
pays the other 600. Oh, yeah. I knew
[44:14]
that.
[44:15]
>> Okay. Okay. So,
[44:18]
>> but so that shouldn't show a $600
[44:21]
negative.
[44:22]
>> No, it shouldn't. It It shouldn't. But
[44:25]
it's very difficult for me to figure out
[44:28]
how Amy works the grants cuz it doesn't
[44:31]
seem to show up in her bookkeeping.
[44:36]
>> Okay.
[44:37]
>> So, that's that's why I I do that.
[44:42]
All right.
[44:44]
So, the media, DVD, audio, we're just
[44:48]
not going to be spending that much on
[44:50]
that anymore.
[44:50]
>> I I was hoping that that is I I advocate
[44:54]
for not keep putting that much in the
[44:56]
budget because there's I've have not
[45:00]
purchased obviously that many DVDs. I've
[45:02]
gotten some um given by donation. I I've
[45:06]
only been purchasing DVDs if people
[45:08]
specifically request them because they
[45:10]
go out so rarely. What I was hoping and
[45:13]
what I would like to do is try to put
[45:15]
some more money into programs
[45:18]
um somewhere so that I could try to have
[45:23]
um more programs at the library. In
[45:26]
general, the speakers and program money,
[45:29]
um, to my understanding, this budget
[45:31]
line goes mainly to the summer passes
[45:35]
that people take and use a lot of and
[45:39]
that are
[45:42]
$7,500
[45:44]
per pass per year.
[45:47]
So, do we want to take like maybe Oh,
[45:50]
you mean 500 out of the media and put it
[45:52]
to the speakers and programs?
[45:55]
>> I would I would like more flexibility
[45:57]
with programming and the ability to get
[46:01]
programs in here. So, that would I mean,
[46:03]
if that is something that we could do, I
[46:05]
would I think we can reduce the DVD
[46:08]
audio money because I think $1,000 is
[46:11]
way too much. Um but if we wanted to and
[46:14]
that was my thought to take some of that
[46:16]
from there and to keep it into the
[46:18]
programs.
[46:19]
>> So
[46:21]
we've been I mean some of the um
[46:26]
data that we've asked you to collect in
[46:28]
the past
[46:30]
several months um was mainly for this
[46:33]
reason. Where are we where are the most
[46:37]
of our patrons really looking for items?
[46:42]
Are they looking for what kind of books
[46:44]
are they using? Overdrive or, you know,
[46:46]
Hoopla, Overdrive, those kinds of
[46:48]
things. And, you know, put our money
[46:52]
where they want it
[46:53]
>> where where, you know, where people are
[46:54]
really actually, you know, using using
[46:57]
it. And like you said, um, you know,
[47:00]
DVDs for a while there. I mean,
[47:03]
everybody was using them all the time
[47:04]
because that was now people
[47:07]
now. They can watch it on Hooplift. They
[47:09]
want to stream it. Um,
[47:11]
>> excuse me.
[47:12]
or something like that. So, yeah. And um
[47:16]
and seriously, the $500 for speakers and
[47:20]
programs,
[47:23]
was that for summer?
[47:25]
the summer grant is is
[47:27]
>> I mean because because the friends at
[47:29]
the library
[47:30]
>> do programming
[47:31]
>> programs
[47:32]
>> um but
[47:35]
we don't like we don't do any in the
[47:38]
summer and Jenny might want to run some
[47:40]
in the summer and the reasons the
[47:42]
friends didn't do it in the summer is
[47:43]
because people go to the concerts on
[47:45]
Tuesdays and Thursday nights. Um, so you
[47:49]
know what it I don't have any problems
[47:52]
with us bringing more programming. Um,
[47:58]
so yeah. Right.
[47:59]
>> Especially if we've got this digital
[48:01]
money that I mean uh media money that
[48:04]
we're not using.
[48:05]
>> Right.
[48:08]
So we lessen the DVD audio
[48:13]
down 500 down to 200.
[48:15]
>> Yeah.
[48:16]
and then take that money and put it
[48:18]
towards speakers and programs
[48:22]
>> digital overdrive. But I don't think you
[48:24]
should zero it
[48:26]
>> that's that's why I said bring it down
[48:27]
to like $200
[48:30]
>> from a you're talking
[48:32]
>> last year $55
[48:35]
>> $55 and I think I bought I did buy Toy
[48:39]
Story 4 cuz a patron requested it and
[48:41]
that was brand new and it came with all
[48:43]
Toy Story
[48:45]
>> DVDs recently and I bought the Penguin
[48:48]
um lessons and I bought have not bought
[48:51]
that many DVDs in general. this year.
[48:54]
I'm trying to think of since the change
[48:57]
of budget. Um
[49:00]
cuz it looks like people are using
[49:02]
digital overdrive.
[49:04]
>> Um I know they're using Hoopla.
[49:06]
>> Mhm.
[49:07]
um [snorts] I think the biggest hit that
[49:11]
the library is going to take in terms of
[49:14]
um
[49:16]
is the fuel
[49:18]
>> is going to be our fuel and utilities
[49:20]
because
[49:22]
we could see an increase in electricity
[49:24]
as well as fuel oil
[49:26]
>> and see we we were over budget under
[49:28]
utilities. We were under for fuel. Yeah.
[49:32]
>> Yeah.
[49:33]
>> But that's just the luck of the draw.
[49:37]
Do we know how many gallons we use per
[49:39]
season? Cuz that's
[49:41]
>> I don't should be able to figure it out,
[49:43]
Bob.
[49:44]
>> Yeah, I think I don't.
[49:47]
>> We got it for like three
[49:49]
>> 360.
[49:50]
>> I think that's what we
[49:51]
>> I think it was 360 last year.
[49:55]
This is a new notebook. So,
[49:58]
>> I think you're right. I think it was cuz
[50:00]
that's what I got my fuel for about the
[50:03]
same time that we
[50:04]
>> Right.
[50:05]
Yeah, because they were actually, you
[50:07]
know,
[50:10]
>> I know that the off-road diesel went up
[50:13]
like 40 cents between this last time and
[50:17]
the time before
[50:19]
and and and all summer long it's been
[50:22]
fluctuating up and down, up and down,
[50:23]
and and in July the woman told me,
[50:27]
"Well, the letter's going to go out and
[50:29]
you're going to get this rate." It was
[50:31]
like it it was wasn't a bad rate. I
[50:34]
mean, it wasn't great, but it was better
[50:36]
than no rate at all.
[50:40]
And then last but then on Monday, I
[50:42]
called and um and I just asked her and
[50:46]
she said, "Oh, I don't think there's
[50:47]
going to be one."
[50:48]
>> That That's surprising that
[50:52]
we only spent that much on fuel last
[50:54]
year.
[50:55]
>> I know. It was It was And
[50:58]
>> it was a cold year.
[50:59]
>> It was, but we used less. Well, maybe
[51:02]
not. is less.
[51:03]
>> I didn't use less. But But see, there's
[51:07]
another that 14,000
[51:11]
» that got left. There's another place
[51:14]
because there's 2,000 right there.
[51:18]
>> I I would lower that from 7,000 though.
[51:21]
>> I I think I would not touch it.
[51:23]
>> Fuel we leave right where it's at.
[51:25]
>> Y
[51:26]
>> um
[51:27]
>> Well, we've got to decide what to do
[51:28]
with salaries.
[51:30]
Well, we did
[51:34]
ask for one, two, and 3%. We looked up
[51:37]
the cost of living and it's 3
[51:41]
2 to 3.6%.
[51:45]
» I know that in past years we've kind of
[51:48]
gone back and forth.
[51:50]
Sometimes it's three, sometimes it's
[51:52]
two, sometimes we want to save,
[51:54]
>> but we always find out what the cost of
[51:55]
living is.
[51:58]
But but the thing is that it's almost seeming like if we take this
[52:05]
digit if we take the media and move it
[52:08]
down to speakers almost [snorts]
[52:11]
everything else is where it ought to be
[52:16]
except for the fuel.
[52:18]
>> Yeah.
[52:21]
» Did we go over in utilities?
[52:23]
>> I think we did.
[52:24]
>> Yes, we did go over in utilities. I
[52:26]
know5 almost $500
[52:29]
thermostat just the same. It doesn't go
[52:32]
up and down like when you close the
[52:34]
library. Do you turn it down or it not a
[52:37]
standard procedure to turn it down on
[52:39]
over the weekend or not? Um
[52:42]
>> I think I'll just I think that's been an
[52:44]
issue in the past where it's been
[52:46]
recommended by I think mccclurers to
[52:48]
leave it at a
[52:50]
>> at warm temperature.
[52:51]
>> Yeah. Cuz the building's too big to
[52:54]
>> to go up and down. Yeah,
[52:55]
>> it takes it too long to recuperate.
[52:58]
>> Just keep it at one temperature.
[52:59]
>> Yeah.
[53:02]
>> But it could be the prices too cuz the
[53:04]
prices have gone up.
[53:05]
>> Mhm.
[53:07]
>> The usage of electricity is about the
[53:11]
same as last year. When you look at the
[53:14]
Green Mountain Power report, it's gone
[53:16]
price has gone up, but the usage is
[53:18]
about the same.
[53:19]
>> Yeah. cuz there was a hike in [snorts]
[53:22]
>> electric last year and there's going to
[53:24]
be another hike this year.
[53:25]
>> Yeah. But we could take we could take
[53:28]
that media money if we if we're saying
[53:30]
that we're going to if if we left the
[53:32]
media money at like $100 so that you
[53:35]
could get something
[53:37]
>> and then put half of that in utilities
[53:40]
and half of that in speakers is is a
[53:44]
thought
[53:48]
because we do have
[53:49]
>> Well, I'm here's my car money.
[53:53]
>> Yeah. Yeah. This is this is where my
[53:55]
thought is coming in now. If if we're
[53:57]
going to do that, let's take that money
[53:59]
from media and put it up with utilities.
[54:02]
And anything you want to do for
[54:04]
programming, go ahead and take it from
[54:06]
the Carnegie
[54:09]
money.
[54:11]
>> Not too, but not to exceed. [laughter]
[54:14]
>> Well,
[54:17]
>> I don't know if I'd say anything.
[54:19]
[laughter] And there should be a balance
[54:21]
between adult programming and children
[54:24]
programming. So it's equal or at least
[54:26]
near equal and I think some
[54:28]
collaboration too. The friends are
[54:30]
supporting programming.
[54:32]
>> So I think to kind of you make sure that
[54:36]
you're on the same page with what you
[54:38]
know they are willing to offer and and
[54:40]
make it a collaborative effort with
[54:43]
programming.
[54:45]
But the the other thing is we've talked
[54:47]
in the past about trying to get more
[54:50]
children into the library and doing
[54:52]
these afterchool events. kids kids are
[54:56]
you know parents are looking for things
[54:57]
for kids to do between three and five
[55:01]
[snorts] and you know there might be
[55:03]
something something there you know I
[55:06]
mean I'm not against doing adult
[55:08]
programming but at all but the more you
[55:11]
can get and like you did that robotics
[55:13]
thing but but that was there was only an
[55:15]
opening for six kids you know
[55:19]
there I'm sure you've got lots of ideas.
[55:27]
» There's lots of programming options and
[55:30]
oftent times I do feel like some of the
[55:34]
children's programmings like if I do
[55:36]
them with the wreck, they could just be
[55:38]
free and that's not a problem there. But
[55:40]
if you want to get somebody that's
[55:42]
exciting and fun in, it's not that the
[55:45]
wreck programming is not exciting and
[55:46]
fun. Let me stop that one there. I I if
[55:50]
you want to get something different in,
[55:52]
they can be costly and there's a lot of
[55:56]
um other areas that like I I just think
[56:01]
if there was more room with programming,
[56:06]
there could be more options. And
[56:10]
um and I do I do think that with the
[56:13]
Carnegie money if we can set aside some
[56:14]
of it and do like a monthly lecture
[56:17]
series or monthly something that's
[56:19]
Carnegie History America
[56:22]
>> Library
[56:24]
that would exciting
[56:27]
>> but I'd also you know like if you start
[56:29]
those routines I'd like to be able to
[56:31]
continue things like that and we don't
[56:32]
have Carnegie money for forever. So, if
[56:34]
we can increase the budget to allow for
[56:38]
those options, we can continue with
[56:39]
those. Like part of it, I'm I am going
[56:42]
to get children's books with the cliff grant. And so, my book budget is
[56:47]
going to be larger this year, but I also
[56:50]
think we should not reduce that book
[56:52]
budget because I don't want to have to
[56:56]
reask for more later.
[56:58]
>> Right. Just my thought to those
[57:03]
parts, too. things are more expensive to
[57:06]
have and I think
[57:06]
>> how much how much are you looking for in
[57:09]
terms of programming then
[57:11]
>> I'm not entirely positive and I'm sorry
[57:13]
that I don't have a good answer there.
[57:15]
Um
[57:16]
>> I mean because some people will charge
[57:18]
you $250.
[57:19]
>> Yep. And
[57:20]
>> some will charge you 550
[57:23]
>> and some through the humanities may only
[57:26]
be $75 plus
[57:28]
>> uh travel fees. So, I think there's, you
[57:32]
know, different ways that, you know, we
[57:34]
can
[57:35]
support the programming here. Um, but it
[57:40]
might it might be nice for us to really
[57:42]
have a better uh working knowledge of
[57:45]
just exactly how much, you know, and and
[57:48]
the friends can chip in
[57:51]
um as well. Um but, you know, that's a
[57:55]
friend's decision, not a not a board
[57:57]
decision.
[57:58]
So um
[57:59]
>> how how has that worked in the past?
[58:01]
Does does the programming ideas come
[58:04]
from the friends and bring it from the
[58:07]
friends to the librarian or does the
[58:10]
librarian come up with ideas and bring
[58:12]
it to the friends?
[58:13]
>> I think it's both. [clears throat] Yeah,
[58:16]
should be both, right? Have you gone to
[58:18]
the friends with any ideas yet?
[58:19]
>> I have.
[58:21]
>> And I know that the friends have already
[58:24]
come with in with ideas.
[58:29]
So,
[58:33]
» the friends are always looking for
[58:34]
ideas.
[58:35]
>> We really are. Um, and Jenny's and
[58:38]
Jenny's, you know, brought brought
[58:39]
stuff. [clears throat]
[58:43]
» I do like the idea that Alyssa has.
[58:45]
Bring it down to $100 for the media and
[58:50]
audio.
[58:51]
>> I didn't say that.
[58:52]
>> I thought you said to bring bring it
[58:54]
down to $100. That way it was still open
[58:56]
and you could still
[58:57]
>> Well, I mean I I think you still need I
[58:59]
wouldn't
[59:00]
>> get rid of zero.
[59:03]
We're not going to get rid of the line
[59:04]
item.
[59:05]
>> No, we So I I do like the idea. Maybe it
[59:08]
was Chris who said bring it down to
[59:10]
$100.
[59:11]
>> Um so if we take the media down to $100
[59:16]
>> and we need at least 500 in the
[59:18]
utilities
[59:20]
because that's how far we were before.
[59:23]
So 5,000 in utilities.
[59:26]
>> 500 5,500 for utilities.
[59:29]
>> Yeah. 5,500.
[59:31]
>> Oh, I see. Wait a minute. Last year it
[59:34]
was4500
[59:36]
and this year it's 5,000.
[59:40]
[snorts] So we actually spent 5,000 last
[59:43]
year and we're budgeted for 5,000. But
[59:46]
you're saying it's going to go up again
[59:48]
>> for next year. Yeah, it's going to go up
[59:50]
because all these tariffs that Trump has
[59:52]
been putting on us and there I've been
[59:54]
hearing in the news that Canada's going
[59:56]
to be like, "Yeah, keep it up. We're
[59:58]
going to raise your rates."
[59:59]
>> Right.
[59:59]
>> Or cut you off. One of the two.
[1:00:01]
>> Yeah. I'm waiting for Canada to cut to
[1:00:02]
cut us off. Which Vermont would be
[1:00:04]
>> So if we go to the 5,500,
[1:00:09]
we if we go over, we go over,
[1:00:11]
>> right?
[1:00:12]
>> I mean, but at least we have some of it.
[1:00:14]
>> All right. And that leaves us with 400
[1:00:17]
>> for programs.
[1:00:20]
>> So we'll go up to 900 for the programs
[1:00:23]
then.
[1:00:24]
>> All right. So far we haven't
[1:00:28]
>> Do you think that would work, Jenny?
[1:00:30]
>> We'll try.
[1:00:31]
>> Okay.
[1:00:31]
>> To start with.
[1:00:32]
>> Mhm. And you've still got car You've
[1:00:35]
still got some Carnegie money. And this
[1:00:38]
would this would ease us,
[1:00:42]
right?
[1:00:44]
Thank you.
[1:00:45]
>> Okay, so let's go over everything else
[1:00:47]
except for salary. Um, let's start at
[1:00:51]
the bottom. Postage, has that gone up?
[1:00:54]
Post the price of stamps has gone up to
[1:00:56]
81 cents a stamp. So, that has
[1:00:58]
increased. I have not purchased postage.
[1:01:01]
The postage that has been purchased has
[1:01:03]
been Amy um buying them for herself to
[1:01:06]
do the
[1:01:07]
>> send out bills
[1:01:08]
>> the bill to do the bills and it's she
[1:01:10]
spent 156 for her whatever she
[1:01:13]
purchased.
[1:01:14]
>> And do you sometimes use
[1:01:16]
>> I have a small rule right there um in
[1:01:20]
the drawer and um when I mail I have not
[1:01:25]
mailed a card envelope letter at all.
[1:01:28]
I've only mailed inter library loans and
[1:01:31]
that is dollars um and then um get
[1:01:35]
reimbursed through the petty cash for
[1:01:37]
those. So
[1:01:39]
>> you've been at 150 or
[1:01:41]
>> Yeah. I mean I've had a role of
[1:01:46]
because I send out letters when we when
[1:01:49]
anybody donates anything to the library.
[1:01:52]
I send out letters and you know and
[1:01:54]
that's
[1:01:55]
>> well you know I don't want to lose
[1:01:57]
patrons so that um I have to mail out
[1:01:59]
letters but yeah
[1:02:01]
>> I mean
[1:02:01]
>> but you know I because I send all the
[1:02:03]
thank you correspondence. Mhm.
[1:02:05]
>> Yeah.
[1:02:06]
>> Okay. So, leave that at 150. Inter
[1:02:09]
library loans.
[1:02:11]
>> I haven't heard anything about the value
[1:02:14]
changing for the inter library loans.
[1:02:17]
So, um it would
[1:02:18]
>> the cost of gas might go up which would impact
[1:02:23]
>> in general, but they the what was it?
[1:02:26]
Six $685 was what the
[1:02:31]
grant
[1:02:33]
didn't cover.
[1:02:35]
It looks like $38. Yeah. Got my in $50.
[1:02:40]
>> Yeah, I think we had to raise it at
[1:02:41]
least that
[1:02:43]
>> $650.
[1:02:50]
» The fiber connect. I printed that one
[1:02:52]
out. You still have
[1:02:55]
automation and membership dues
[1:02:59]
seem to be
[1:02:59]
>> well the fiber connect that's that's
[1:03:01]
zero because we have a grant for this
[1:03:03]
>> that gets covered but we have to put it
[1:03:05]
in the budget
[1:03:07]
>> right but then it ends up getting added
[1:03:09]
back in again. She didn't add it in in
[1:03:12]
July but it does in
[1:03:14]
>> How long is that grant good for?
[1:03:16]
>> I think we still have $4,000 I think is
[1:03:18]
what it is.
[1:03:19]
>> Well it they gave us a chunk of change
[1:03:21]
is what it is. It's not a grant for the
[1:03:23]
um
[1:03:24]
>> okay
[1:03:25]
>> for the um automation
[1:03:27]
the fiber connect.
[1:03:29]
>> So we have 10 that's where our $10,000
[1:03:31]
CD
[1:03:32]
>> and when that money's gone that money's
[1:03:34]
gone.
[1:03:35]
>> So that was the money.
[1:03:41]
» I think we have it because Chris takes
[1:03:44]
out the 901.
[1:03:46]
>> I take out money periodically for it.
[1:03:49]
>> [snorts]
[1:03:50]
>> So technically we have $3,000 that we
[1:03:53]
have to pay a year for that for the
[1:03:56]
>> we get build and Chris pays the bill but
[1:04:00]
it's from that pot of money.
[1:04:02]
>> But just because that's the way the
[1:04:05]
federal [snorts] government
[1:04:07]
had had us do that in the past.
[1:04:10]
>> The budget line stays zero though.
[1:04:13]
>> The budget line can stay zero for it.
[1:04:15]
>> We we always put in whatever how much is
[1:04:18]
it?
[1:04:18]
>> No. See the the budget line is zero and
[1:04:21]
then the money go just gets put in the
[1:04:23]
pot.
[1:04:24]
>> In the past we've always had to put
[1:04:26]
enough money in to cover the cost of the
[1:04:28]
bill even though we have the money in
[1:04:30]
the bank. Okay, that's just to let
[1:04:31]
people know that yes, we do get build
[1:04:34]
that is the cost. We have money in the
[1:04:35]
bank to pay for that because one of
[1:04:37]
these days
[1:04:38]
>> we are going the money was not going to
[1:04:40]
be there.
[1:04:41]
>> Okay.
[1:04:43]
>> All right. computers. We
[1:04:45]
>> and that was just the way we always did
[1:04:47]
it with the um and it was based on free
[1:04:51]
and reduced lunch, you know, what
[1:04:53]
percentage we paid, but that that
[1:04:54]
program's
[1:04:56]
>> USAC. Yeah. So then the fiber connect
[1:04:58]
we're putting in at $2,000 then
[1:05:01]
>> I would I would put in $2,000
[1:05:09]
» even though it's [snorts]
[1:05:12]
you know and and it's like any budget,
[1:05:14]
>> right?
[1:05:14]
>> We we'll what we'll spend is 2,000 what
[1:05:18]
we get in we'll get $2,000.
[1:05:23]
So it
[1:05:24]
>> it equals Yeah. There's a balance of
[1:05:27]
zero there.
[1:05:28]
>> Yeah.
[1:05:30]
>> In automation, we're just going to keep
[1:05:31]
it at two grand.
[1:05:33]
>> Yeah.
[1:05:36]
» Cuz that's $800, right? You said
[1:05:39]
>> Yes. It It's 800 twice a year.
[1:05:42]
>> Yeah.
[1:05:43]
>> So we we had about 500. We also have to
[1:05:46]
buy automation
[1:05:51]
scanner things and labels and yeah.
[1:05:55]
>> Okay.
[1:05:56]
>> And the membership is pretty good. And
[1:06:00]
computers, we had some money left over,
[1:06:03]
but the explanation was that was because
[1:06:05]
of the computer that Carol purchased
[1:06:08]
that never was sent was more than the
[1:06:11]
computer I ended up purchasing. And so
[1:06:13]
that is why that excess was there.
[1:06:16]
>> And we never quite know what happens
[1:06:18]
with computers.
[1:06:19]
>> They're all working well right
[1:06:21]
[laughter]
[1:06:23]
stay working.
[1:06:26]
>> So we'll keep that at the 12.
[1:06:28]
>> I would
[1:06:34]
supplies
[1:06:37]
» I have not purchased copier paper this
[1:06:39]
whole past year cuz there was enough in
[1:06:42]
there. I'm getting down to it. I don't
[1:06:44]
know what a ream of copier paper costs.
[1:06:48]
Um5 $6
[1:06:50]
>> for the
[1:06:51]
>> for for a box. 500 ream is 500 pieces of
[1:06:54]
paper.
[1:06:54]
>> Okay. So, I meant the box of them.
[1:06:57]
>> So, it's got to be 50 or Yeah.
[1:06:59]
>> Yeah.
[1:07:00]
>> So, that would fit in with what's left
[1:07:02]
over.
[1:07:03]
>> 18. There's
[1:07:06]
>> you only you only spent about half of
[1:07:08]
the budget last year. Mhm.
[1:07:09]
>> But that How much does it cost? Like the
[1:07:12]
guy comes in and he cleans the copier
[1:07:14]
and all that good kind of stuff.
[1:07:16]
>> I have not had him come do that.
[1:07:18]
>> Okay.
[1:07:20]
>> I might just ask
[1:07:22]
>> what.
[1:07:22]
>> So, we'll keep it at the 18.
[1:07:24]
>> I would.
[1:07:24]
>> Yes, I would.
[1:07:28]
» And inspection. See, we didn't we didn't
[1:07:31]
spend all our inspection money, but
[1:07:32]
we're going to, so I would leave that
[1:07:34]
alone. Um, I don't know if your report
[1:07:37]
shows the It was $500 from Green
[1:07:40]
Mountain Sprinkler in the previous
[1:07:42]
inspection and I don't think that this
[1:07:44]
one shows that.
[1:07:45]
>> I don't think it does.
[1:07:46]
>> Um,
[1:07:47]
>> so we'll leave it at the 25.
[1:07:50]
>> I think we have to leave it at the
[1:07:52]
$2,500.
[1:07:53]
>> Yeah,
[1:07:55]
>> I don't think they've gone down.
[1:07:57]
>> No.
[1:07:58]
>> And repairs,
[1:07:59]
>> we'll leave that at the five.
[1:08:01]
>> I would leave that alone. And the travel in the past has always been
[1:08:08]
for Terry Deamassie to go to they have
[1:08:13]
show every year
[1:08:14]
>> about different programs for the library
[1:08:17]
and uh and Terry's always gone and
[1:08:20]
gotten all that information. Um is there
[1:08:23]
any travel you need to do?
[1:08:27]
Um at a couple different conferences
[1:08:29]
they're starting to do them together. I
[1:08:30]
went to the one in Burlington. and I
[1:08:32]
didn't put in for reimbursement of
[1:08:34]
traveling up there.
[1:08:35]
>> You can do that.
[1:08:36]
>> Um, and then
[1:08:38]
>> there's a couple like there's going to
[1:08:39]
be a director's conference in November,
[1:08:42]
late October. I can't remember. I mean,
[1:08:44]
there are a couple different
[1:08:46]
conferences.
[1:08:49]
>> I would raise it up to 150.
[1:08:51]
>> 150.
[1:08:52]
>> Yeah, cuz Yeah, if we're doing mileage,
[1:08:55]
what is it now per mile? It's like 70
[1:09:00]
72 and a2 73 cents a mile.
[1:09:04]
>> So yeah, $50 won't will take you
[1:09:07]
>> won't take you far.
[1:09:08]
>> Nope.
[1:09:14]
» Yeah, because anything library related
[1:09:16]
like that, Jenny, um we do cover the
[1:09:19]
mileage for you. Okay.
[1:09:26]
digital
[1:09:27]
>> digital overdrive. We went we went over
[1:09:29]
on overdrive
[1:09:31]
>> but but this year's budget [snorts] is
[1:09:35]
$500 higher than last year's was
[1:09:38]
>> 5,000
[1:09:40]
>> it's $5,000 but we were going No, wait a
[1:09:43]
minute. I'm I'm looking at the wrong
[1:09:44]
one. Digital drive. It's $5500
[1:09:47]
>> for this year.
[1:09:49]
>> which is what was spent last year,
[1:09:51]
>> which is what Yeah.
[1:09:52]
Do we want to keep it at that?
[1:09:54]
>> No. Okay. Oh, I'm looking at the wrong
[1:09:56]
one.
[1:09:58]
>> No, you're looking at the right one.
[1:10:00]
>> Yeah, I know. But I was looking at the
[1:10:01]
wrong one on this page
[1:10:04]
>> because we spent $5,537.
[1:10:09]
» Right.
[1:10:10]
>> So, we didn't go over much, but I think
[1:10:13]
more people are using
[1:10:15]
>> So, you want to make it 6,000?
[1:10:18]
>> I think, Jenny, more people are using
[1:10:20]
the digital overdrive. Correct.
[1:10:23]
>> They are it's used um
[1:10:27]
>> well we can look and see what our
[1:10:30]
>> 158 borrows
[1:10:32]
um this past month and that is about
[1:10:36]
consistent
[1:10:38]
and
[1:10:39]
>> does it does it go are they different
[1:10:42]
prices for different books? Is that
[1:10:44]
that's the hard part? Audio books can be
[1:10:47]
about $100 a book and then digital books
[1:10:50]
are less or um and then it does vary by
[1:10:54]
like how long you want the book for or
[1:10:57]
how many
[1:10:58]
>> how many months you want or
[1:11:00]
>> things. So it is expensive in general,
[1:11:05]
>> but a lot of people are using that
[1:11:07]
service rather than
[1:11:11]
I I would I would I know I hate to raise
[1:11:14]
the budget too much, but um
[1:11:18]
it costs money.
[1:11:20]
>> Go to six.
[1:11:21]
>> I I would go to six. I don't know. What
[1:11:23]
does everybody else feel? Yeah,
[1:11:27]
>> I think we'll sp Well,
[1:11:29]
I mean I I mean we're a library. We have
[1:11:31]
to provide books.
[1:11:34]
>> Do you want to [snorts]
[1:11:36]
play with the book
[1:11:39]
budget
[1:11:41]
there for that? I mean that's we already
[1:11:44]
got
[1:11:44]
>> you have a better idea of
[1:11:48]
how you want to do that.
[1:11:50]
>> Honestly, I don't want to play with the
[1:11:51]
book budget but I that is a I mean
[1:11:54]
because That's what we're all about.
[1:11:55]
>> Yeah. Yeah. And
[1:11:57]
>> I mean, we have to heat the building.
[1:11:59]
That's our That's our [snorts] thing.
[1:12:00]
But we also want to make sure we have
[1:12:03]
things to read for kids and adults.
[1:12:08]
» And And you know, everybody's going to
[1:12:10]
computers, but there's a swing back.
[1:12:14]
That's you know, at at schools, they're
[1:12:18]
going to they're taking away the
[1:12:20]
computers and going back to books. So,
[1:12:23]
we'll see
[1:12:28]
because but this is after because I
[1:12:29]
don't have the I won't have the grant in
[1:12:32]
2028 either. It's this year the 2027
[1:12:36]
that has the cliff money,
[1:12:38]
>> right?
[1:12:39]
>> So, it it's it's the next year that
[1:12:42]
>> So, we keep it as it is.
[1:12:44]
>> I
[1:12:45]
>> or do we need to increase it?
[1:12:47]
>> I would say keep it as it is.
[1:12:51]
and workman's comp. We haven't gotten
[1:12:53]
anything from the insurance company,
[1:12:54]
have we?
[1:12:55]
>> No, we did. We just paid it. And I think
[1:12:58]
the bill was just signed upstairs.
[1:13:04]
» Do you know what that was?
[1:13:07]
>> I don't remember. And it's in an
[1:13:08]
envelope
[1:13:10]
when it was a lot. I remember being
[1:13:13]
like, "Oh my gosh, what is this bill?"
[1:13:16]
Um, it was a lot. It was over $1,000.
[1:13:21]
I'm sorry. Do you want me to go grab it
[1:13:23]
upstairs?
[1:13:24]
>> No. Well,
[1:13:25]
>> but the bill comes once a year.
[1:13:28]
>> Yes.
[1:13:29]
>> And it was 13 1300s last year. [snorts]
[1:13:33]
>> Um 1350. No, it was
[1:13:35]
>> paid 12 last year.
[1:13:37]
>> 12,200 last year and we budgeted 1350.
[1:13:43]
It It didn't come through on on July's
[1:13:46]
bill.
[1:13:48]
on July's.
[1:13:49]
>> No, it's upstairs. So that's August or
[1:13:52]
September.
[1:13:54]
Dear,
[1:13:56]
>> you want to go up and
[1:13:58]
>> I can go grab it.
[1:14:00]
Don't have it down here.
[1:14:06]
» I'll be right back. I'm sorry.
[1:14:08]
>> Sorry.
[1:14:10]
>> And And if we're if we were going to go
[1:14:12]
up 3% on the payroll, it would be 3%
[1:14:16]
of
[1:14:18]
54,274,
[1:14:21]
right?
[1:14:24]
The 20 the 2020. No.
[1:14:26]
>> No.
[1:14:27]
>> On [snorts] the other on the other on on
[1:14:29]
this one here, it'd be that number 3% of
[1:14:33]
that, right?
[1:14:34]
>> Yeah.
[1:14:35]
>> See what it is at three and see what it
[1:14:37]
is at 3.2, Chris, because 3.2 is the
[1:14:41]
cola.
[1:14:59]
It
[1:15:01]
is $1,221.
[1:15:04]
>> Okay. So,
[1:15:04]
>> same as last year.
[1:15:06]
>> Okay, good.
[1:15:07]
>> Oh, yeah. We'll keep
[1:15:08]
>> I think we can keep the same.
[1:15:10]
>> I love thoseund.
[1:15:13]
Yeah. 1350.
[1:15:19]
Oh, I just did it for 32%.
[1:15:22]
[laughter]
[1:15:23]
Well, that'd be a nice race. Um, and I'm
[1:15:26]
because I'm not really sure
[1:15:28]
>> because we had Carol and Jenny working
[1:15:30]
at the same time. So, that's that.
[1:15:36]
» So, do we want to take 24 budget?
[1:15:38]
>> But wait a minute. No,
[1:15:40]
>> we had them both working in 20
[1:15:44]
>> not in 2026.
[1:15:46]
>> No,
[1:15:48]
mom didn't work in 26.
[1:15:49]
>> No.
[1:15:50]
>> Yeah.
[1:15:55]
» So, this would be the right one.
[1:15:59]
» All right. If you take
[1:16:02]
3 If you take 3.2% 2% of the 54 274 I
[1:16:08]
get 1736.
[1:16:11]
Somebody else should do that math
[1:16:14]
just to double check me.
[1:16:26]
» Did you guys do fuel?
[1:16:28]
>> No, I think we're going to keep it the
[1:16:30]
same
[1:16:30]
>> cuz this is the right 50. This is the
[1:16:32]
number we're multiplying by. Right.
[1:16:34]
>> Right.
[1:16:38]
» It's got to be pretty close cuz 3 * 15
[1:16:40]
is 15.
[1:16:42]
>> 3.2.
[1:16:47]
» 17 36 77.
[1:16:49]
>> Yep. That's what I get.
[1:17:21]
We're moving to 5611.
[1:17:24]
>> What do you What? How? How are you
[1:17:26]
getting there?
[1:17:28]
Well, if we're going to keep this,
[1:17:31]
>> but what is that already? What
[1:17:34]
percentage did we already go?
[1:17:37]
>> Yeah, but this is 2027 on this sheet and
[1:17:41]
we're deal and we're doing 2020 28.
[1:17:45]
>> Okay. Yes, it's it's really hard. You
[1:17:48]
have to shine your crystal ball.
[1:17:50]
>> Yeah, we're we're a year and a half
[1:17:51]
ahead.
[1:17:52]
>> Okay,
[1:17:54]
>> that's that's the hard part.
[1:17:57]
Uh,
[1:17:57]
>> is that what you came up with?
[1:17:59]
>> 54 274
[1:18:02]
plus 1736
[1:18:07]
56 1106
[1:18:10]
56,
[1:18:14]
$116.
[1:18:19]
» Now, what does that what does all of
[1:18:21]
these changes do to the budget?
[1:18:24]
>> Needs to go up. Yeah, that's a good
[1:18:26]
question.
[1:18:27]
>> It's going up
[1:18:31]
five grand at least
[1:18:34]
>> cuz utilities we went to 5,500. Right.
[1:18:37]
But but remember Oh, you when you
[1:18:40]
get down here, you got to take the 900
[1:18:42]
out of the media.
[1:18:45]
>> So, we put it somewhere else
[1:18:47]
>> because really our our budget that we
[1:18:49]
give to them is only what what we call
[1:18:53]
what cost us. It doesn't show what we
[1:18:56]
plan to get,
[1:18:58]
>> you know, how we plan to offset in
[1:19:02]
assets, the $11,000
[1:19:05]
or whatever it is.
[1:19:07]
[clears throat]
[1:19:11]
Oh, and then the fuel.
[1:19:14]
>> So, you want to keep it at 8,300 for
[1:19:17]
books and periodicals and 5,000 for
[1:19:20]
juvenile?
[1:19:21]
>> Yes, please.
[1:19:30]
And in media, we're going to $100.
[1:19:35]
And speakers and programs, we're going
[1:19:37]
to 900.
[1:20:01]
» [snorts]
[1:20:03]
>> Rude.
[1:20:15]
Is this the number you end up with at
[1:20:17]
the bottom?
[1:20:21]
Yep.
[1:20:22]
>> Oh, good.
[1:20:23]
>> Cuz we can we can keep that at zero for
[1:20:26]
this particular
[1:20:27]
>> for which one?
[1:20:28]
>> Keep the fiber connect. We don't have to
[1:20:30]
add the $2,000. Okay.
[1:20:32]
>> She can keep it at zero for
[1:20:34]
>> She wants to keep the fiber connect at
[1:20:35]
zero
[1:20:36]
>> just because we
[1:20:38]
>> which would get us down to 104.
[1:20:41]
>> Okay. So, take $2,000 out of there
[1:20:44]
because of the fiber connect. So it's
[1:20:47]
104,
[1:20:50]
» 2060
[1:20:53]
cents.
[1:20:54]
>> 6 cents
[1:20:56]
60.
[1:21:00]
» What did you bring the fuel to?
[1:21:03]
>> We left
[1:21:05]
it. Okay,
[1:21:06]
>> maybe um
[1:21:10]
» keep a record of
[1:21:11]
>> So let's see what let's see when they
[1:21:14]
can increase that.
[1:21:15]
I don't get them because Amy works with
[1:21:18]
them and so it goes straight to her. So
[1:21:21]
I can ask her
[1:21:22]
>> to keep record of how much I use. So I
[1:21:27]
know
[1:21:27]
>> she can give us some historical data so
[1:21:29]
that we have an idea.
[1:21:30]
>> Yeah. Maybe have her go back a little if
[1:21:32]
she can.
[1:21:33]
>> Yeah.
[1:21:36]
>> Cuz really that's almost 102.
[1:21:38]
We're going to 104.
[1:21:44]
I will ask her that
[1:21:49]
» cuz I don't even know she doesn't have
[1:21:53]
the motions.
[1:21:53]
>> Do you do you take the increase over
[1:21:57]
last year's budget or the increase over
[1:21:59]
this year's budget
[1:22:02]
to figure out the percent increase? You
[1:22:04]
take it over last year's, don't you?
[1:22:05]
>> I subtracted what it was and what what
[1:22:07]
percentage that is of the budget
[1:22:09]
>> of what percentage that is of the
[1:22:12]
present budget. the 2028 budget or the
[1:22:15]
2027 budget?
[1:22:16]
>> I would say it's 101.814
[1:22:20]
times whatever
[1:22:22]
time 3% and see what you get.
[1:22:25]
>> 3.2%.
[1:22:27]
>> I think it's something like that.
[1:22:31]
>> What are you calculating?
[1:22:32]
>> What what percentage increase the budget is?
[1:22:37]
>> Because people are going to ask about
[1:22:38]
it,
[1:22:38]
>> right? How what percentage is it going
[1:22:41]
up?
[1:22:49]
I didn't bring my
[1:22:50]
>> It drives me crazy that I can't do this
[1:22:53]
to me. I I think what you do is take the
[1:22:56]
difference between the 101 and the 104,
[1:22:58]
>> right?
[1:22:59]
>> And divide it by the 101
[1:23:02]
and that gives you your percentage.
[1:23:04]
>> See if it comes out to 3%.
[1:23:07]
>> Well, I did it once and it came out to
[1:23:09]
23 to 2%. Well, it might because it's
[1:23:13]
really only $2,200 and $2,400.
[1:23:18]
[clears throat]
[1:23:28]
That's wrong.
[1:23:31]
>> It's less than 2.9%.
[1:23:34]
>> So, we can say 3%.
[1:23:36]
>> I get 2.3.
[1:23:37]
>> Yeah. No. Yeah.
[1:23:38]
>> Yeah. So, about 3%.
[1:23:41]
Well, 2.3 isn't isn't
[1:23:43]
>> that's a pretty low percentage.
[1:23:45]
>> Yeah.
[1:23:47]
Less than
[1:23:51]
» less than the cost of living.
[1:23:53]
>> Yeah.
[1:23:56]
» Okay. And so if and and the only thing
[1:23:59]
that we really did
[1:24:02]
we we juggled some money
[1:24:05]
>> and and and we can say we're going to do
[1:24:08]
a little bit more with but see our more
[1:24:10]
with programming was was out of the
[1:24:12]
medium money. So really
[1:24:15]
>> we we we switched the numbers around a
[1:24:17]
little bit and because we were
[1:24:21]
>> it's really salaries and utilities.
[1:24:23]
>> Yeah. And we don't know.
[1:24:25]
>> Yeah. Yeah. in terms of I mean and we're
[1:24:27]
keeping the util well we raised
[1:24:29]
utilities but we didn't raise fuel oil
[1:24:30]
because we still came in a little under
[1:24:33]
and we'll all pray for a really warm
[1:24:34]
[laughter]
[1:24:36]
>> winter but
[1:24:37]
>> do you want me to make the motion?
[1:24:39]
>> Sure.
[1:24:42]
Um, I move that we
[1:24:46]
submit
[1:24:48]
a budget for fiscal year 2028
[1:24:52]
totaling $14,2160
[1:24:57]
that in
[1:24:58]
>> 6ent
[1:25:00]
6 not.
[1:25:01]
>> I thought it was 60 because it's because
[1:25:03]
I wrote 60 down here. 6 cents.
[1:25:09]
and to include a 3.2%
[1:25:13]
increase in salaries.
[1:25:21]
And you can say that it averages 2.3%
[1:25:25]
increase on on the total budget. 2.3%
[1:25:29]
increase.
[1:25:44]
Need a second.
[1:25:46]
So, it's been moved that we submit a
[1:25:49]
budget of $14,216
[1:25:53]
with include which includes
[1:25:57]
3.2% 2% cost of living raise
[1:26:03]
and is an overall average of 2.3%
[1:26:07]
increase.
[1:26:09]
>> I'll second that.
[1:26:12]
>> All those in favor
[1:26:13]
>> this has got a question I think.
[1:26:15]
>> No, I'm just going to abstain. This is
[1:26:17]
really difficult to do to get all the
[1:26:19]
information during the meeting and not
[1:26:22]
have anything ahead of time to review
[1:26:24]
and be able to ask questions and think
[1:26:26]
about. So it' be nice to review what we
[1:26:29]
did.
[1:26:29]
>> Do you want to wait till next month?
[1:26:32]
>> I think that would be helpful just so
[1:26:33]
that I can kind of wrap my arms around.
[1:26:36]
I'll table
[1:26:38]
>> Do you want to re But I don't want to I
[1:26:42]
don't want to hold anything up either,
[1:26:43]
but I just
[1:26:45]
>> Yeah.
[1:26:45]
>> Well, we're ahead of the game
[1:26:47]
>> cuz we don't usually do it in September.
[1:26:49]
>> We don't usually do it in We usually do
[1:26:51]
it in October.
[1:26:52]
>> Yeah. Um, Ron's not going to be here in
[1:26:56]
October.
[1:26:57]
>> But that's fine. You guys
[1:26:58]
>> and I'm not going to be here in October.
[1:27:01]
>> I'm going to be in Alabama.
[1:27:02]
>> So, the three of you will need to be
[1:27:04]
here. Are you going to be here?
[1:27:07]
>> Yes.
[1:27:08]
>> Other other than if we don't approve it
[1:27:12]
in October, we have to approve it in
[1:27:14]
November. And that's when the budget has
[1:27:17]
to be in is in November.
[1:27:20]
>> So, yeah.
[1:27:23]
See what trying to
[1:27:26]
>> should I ask Danny about that
[1:27:30]
>> the person we ask is
[1:27:32]
>> so the 4th would be the first
[1:27:35]
>> oh
[1:27:36]
>> Wednesday of November
[1:27:37]
>> I think we could probably
[1:27:38]
>> I think cuz I think it's by the 11th we
[1:27:40]
have to have that in
[1:27:41]
>> something like that to the town office.
[1:27:42]
>> Yeah. So that gives us time to to
[1:27:45]
revisit
[1:27:46]
>> and maybe by then
[1:27:48]
>> we're going to try and find out how much
[1:27:51]
>> clarity on the fuel
[1:27:52]
>> fuel's
[1:27:53]
>> maybe
[1:27:54]
>> and you know and and we're asking 18
[1:27:56]
months in advance.
[1:27:58]
>> So it's not how much it is tomorrow.
[1:28:00]
It's how much it's going to be 18 months
[1:28:02]
from now.
[1:28:02]
>> And and we're not going to have a lot
[1:28:04]
more information for you um Alyssa two
[1:28:08]
months from now.
[1:28:09]
>> No. the the whole thing is
[1:28:12]
>> um
[1:28:13]
>> a
[1:28:13]
>> lot to think about.
[1:28:14]
>> Well, it's a lot to think about and it's
[1:28:15]
I think it's um especially somebody new
[1:28:18]
coming in to look at this budget in this
[1:28:21]
capacity. It's a lot to soak in to get
[1:28:25]
handed when you walk into the meeting
[1:28:27]
[laughter] and then [clears throat]
[1:28:28]
okay now we're going to vote on it. It
[1:28:30]
just doesn't feel like you've put not in
[1:28:32]
general. I don't feel like I've put a
[1:28:34]
lot of thought into it and I want to
[1:28:35]
make a thoughtful decision.
[1:28:36]
>> Okay,
[1:28:38]
>> we respect that. Thanks.
[1:28:40]
>> We'll table it until November.
[1:28:41]
>> Yeah, we'll table till we Well,
[1:28:44]
>> yeah,
[1:28:45]
>> unless you want to do it on October if
[1:28:46]
nothing really changes. But Jenny in the
[1:28:48]
meantime can maybe you know take a look
[1:28:51]
at if there's
[1:28:54]
a pressing need um for you know with
[1:28:57]
Cliff books and if she wants she thinks
[1:29:00]
she needs more money in
[1:29:02]
>> in programming
[1:29:03]
>> and programming and books let you know
[1:29:05]
we can we can make we can make those
[1:29:07]
adjustments
[1:29:12]
» and and you know what in the and in the
[1:29:14]
meantime
[1:29:16]
we can call Samson and see how much fuel
[1:29:18]
we use.
[1:29:20]
>> Yeah.
[1:29:24]
Just what we spent last year on fuel
[1:29:27]
just
[1:29:30]
>> doesn't seem like a whole lot unless
[1:29:31]
somebody
[1:29:32]
>> Is the tank empty?
[1:29:35]
>> No, we can go look.
[1:29:36]
>> We can look after.
[1:29:37]
>> Yep. I make uh I move we adjourn at
[1:29:41]
7:30. I second it.
[1:29:43]
>> All those in favor? Hi.
[1:29:44]
>> Hi.
[1:29:45]
>> Our next meeting will be on October
[1:29:47]
>> 7th.
[1:29:49]
Seventh. October 7th. So, what's in my
[1:29:50]
