[5:37]
Good luck, Saturday.
[5:39]
Public comments.
[5:40]
Do you have any public comments to see them either here or virtually?
[5:59]
I'm very excited to do this this way this year. So Mr. Balistarashi's former district did it in front of the school committee. So he had that idea and I thought it was wonderful and we're excited to do this with you all tonight.
[6:12]
First, I'm going to read what the certificate says, if I could, is a certificate of academic excellence to
[6:17]
live the same here, having duly qualified under the standards prescribed by the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents is hereby awarded the certificate of academic excellence.
[6:28]
In witness thereof, the seal of the association and the signature of the superintendent of schools are here unto a fixed.
[6:34]
We have a fancy certificate with that information, but I'd like to read this sort of formal introduction of Louis.
[6:42]
So it's a great sense of pride that we acknowledge if you want to stand up while I read this to you, that would be fun.
[6:49]
I'll let you say a few words, too, if you'd like after.
[6:53]
It's a great sense of pride that I introduced this year as recipient of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendent Certificate of Academic Excellence.
[7:01]
Ms. Libby St. Pierre, this is awarded to you because it's awarded to one senior in each district every year.
[7:07]
The criteria is inclusive of academic merit, class rank, GPA, and both extracurricular activities and community involvement.
[7:16]
Libby is most deserving student of this prestigious recognition.
[7:21]
You've demonstrated an excellence not only in the classroom, but also in extracurriculars.
[7:25]
you completely embody what the Fairhaven community is all about.
[7:31]
Libby carries an unweighted GPA of 4.0 is ranked number 3 in the class of 2024. I would just let you know that we looked at over six or seven, highly, highly decorated students.
[7:45]
But during her time at FHS, it really set her a part that she challenged herself to take eight advanced placement courses, as well as a myriad of honors level courses.
[7:54]
She's earned several recognitions in her time here, both in and out of the classroom, outstanding effort, perseverance, all of those things were set of you.
[8:06]
She's a member of the National Honor Society, but our Honor Society, and received both the Maple Hoyle Night Excellence in English Award and the Renaissance English Award last year.
[8:15]
In addition to her academic success, she's been involved in several extracurricular activities.
[8:21]
She's been a member of the following team's and student organizations.
[8:24]
This is a mouthful. You have quite the resume for young lady.
[8:28]
Member of the Cross Country team for which she was awarded the most improved cross country athlete in 2022.
[8:35]
Member of the Winter and Spring Track teams, member of the FHS concert choir,
[8:40]
Member of the Culture Club of America, and Member of the Math team.
[8:44]
She's extremely well-rounded, and outside of the school, she even volunteers her time with
[8:49]
the Shepherd's Pantry in a Kushnet, where she assists with weekly food services, food
[8:54]
drives and other fundraisers.
[8:56]
She also volunteers with a militant library, where she worked to update the book collections,
[9:00]
provide a support for several activities including tie-dying, bottle rockets, and the teddy
[9:05]
referee.
[9:05]
These are all favorites of course of the community.
[9:08]
Even with all of her efforts in time being put into the school in community, Libby also
[9:13]
time to hold a summer job at Plummer's Supply Company in New Bedford.
[9:18]
I'm like, what do you do for fun?
[9:19]
There are things she does for fun.
[9:21]
If you can imagine, she has time for it.
[9:24]
What was really fun was reading that she loves baking cakes,
[9:27]
reading historical fiction, and mysteries,
[9:29]
just a really well-rounded young lady who are proud to have the
[9:32]
member of our community.
[9:34]
She's an outstanding young person who truly embodies the
[9:37]
traits of our profile of a learner.
[9:39]
She's a strong communicator, collaborator,
[9:41]
She's creative, a critical thinker, truly civically engaged in our school and town and our greater community.
[9:50]
There is no doubt that she will experience success in any endeavor she chooses to undertake.
[9:55]
Olivia is joined this evening by her parents, Mark and Shannon, St. Pierre.
[9:59]
If you guys want to put your hand up for a minute, take a little recognition.
[10:03]
Her grandmother Ivonne and Aunt Dina.
[10:07]
And I'm sure you all are very proud, but if you could please join me in congratulating Libby on this well earned recognition.
[10:38]
You might think that you're a state within the committee for the talk too?
[10:44]
No.
[10:44]
I'm sorry.
[10:45]
Hi, ladies.
[10:50]
I'm sorry.
[10:53]
Congratulations.
[10:54]
Thank you.
[10:54]
This would be a lot of questions.
[10:57]
Congratulations.
[11:00]
Congratulations.
[11:01]
Congratulations.
[11:04]
It's a cozy picture.
[11:09]
I couldn't possibly say more than sword as red, but well things stand out.
[11:16]
Obviously, well-rounded.
[11:18]
There were a person of view, so I think that probably served you very well in your future endeavors
[11:22]
in a college and career of life.
[11:25]
That's a key.
[11:26]
You can be as intelligent as you want, unless you are engaged civically,
[11:29]
and you personally be here through hardship, that's the key.
[11:33]
So congratulations, it's really funny, guys.
[11:39]
Thank you.
[11:40]
Oh, sure, thank you.
[11:41]
Oh, no, yeah, congratulations, Libby.
[11:44]
I'm not your parent, but I'm proud of you.
[11:46]
You're not even my daughter, but congratulations, and it's wonderful to see.
[11:51]
I'm a huge love, I love community engagement.
[11:54]
I know I do it with my family, and I know how that is and to building your character.
[11:58]
Actually, I found it great for my kids, like communications skills.
[12:01]
So it's going to benefit you forever in life
[12:04]
and be able to work with others and congratulations.
[12:07]
We should be proud of yourself.
[12:09]
Thank you.
[12:14]
Congratulations, Libby.
[12:15]
It seems like you've done amazing at your time
[12:18]
at Fairhaven Schools.
[12:20]
And we hope that you come back after college
[12:22]
and continue to serve us.
[12:25]
Thank you.
[12:28]
I'm sorry, AP class.
[12:31]
This is a good one, correct?
[12:32]
Yeah.
[12:33]
Nine.
[12:34]
I can't see it.
[12:34]
I can't see it.
[12:37]
I can't see how it went for me.
[12:41]
But it's a few of my self.
[12:44]
What historical fiction books we read, and that's one that kind of beat me up.
[12:48]
I like it.
[12:48]
Yeah, that's my favorite genre.
[12:50]
Like, damn brown or like, yes, sir.
[12:52]
I like the author Runa Sipetis.
[12:54]
She writes a lot about like times that are often forgotten.
[12:57]
But I just read.
[12:59]
So I definitely check her out.
[13:00]
Excellent.
[13:01]
That was, that's what got me, congratulations. There's no doubt that as a, you know, you're going to place it. So, as you know, it's pushing us.
[13:12]
Thank you.
[13:13]
Thank you.
[13:14]
Congratulations. I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to, did it one, everybody else's comments.
[13:18]
Congratulations again, many, and you'll, you'll do well in your future.
[13:23]
And I don't, I don't, how you did it, doing all those things that Miss Colisek don't know,
[13:29]
You know what, keep doing it and you're going to be a strong, so it's very successful person in your future.
[13:36]
So many, many good luck to you.
[13:38]
Nice for you.
[13:39]
Good luck.
[13:39]
Thanks to the parents for driving around before she got a license.
[13:43]
And by the different places she had to get through.
[13:46]
And obviously having the grandmother to keep you on track.
[13:49]
That's a very important issue.
[13:52]
Thank all of you for helping.
[13:55]
I'll help like all of us.
[13:59]
Mr. Chairman, can I speak?
[14:03]
Thank you. Congratulations, Libby.
[14:06]
I've known the St. Pierre family for a while now.
[14:10]
Libby's older brother can't have graduated with my older boy Gabriel.
[14:14]
I know this is a wonderful family that's clearly raised multiple great children.
[14:20]
and maybe I know that you're going to go on and do amazing things so congratulations on receiving
[14:26]
this award and just keep going strong and so the rest of the years we know you all will
[14:33]
and good luck in your future plans. Thank you. Thank you very much for being here to help us have a nice
[14:41]
wonderful, proud moment.
[15:07]
Just go to the balcony and take one. All
[15:14]
that's so cute, yes.
[15:23]
Congratulations.
[15:30]
And please know this as enjoyable as we are to watch you with a welcome to turn around.
[15:39]
So thank you for coming.
[15:41]
Congratulations.
[15:43]
Well deserved.
[15:49]
So we were thinking annually this big great topic for our Thanksgiving
[15:53]
Ish time period.
[15:55]
You know, it's something that when you issue it at a junior day, that's nice.
[16:01]
But it gets lost in a lot of things.
[16:02]
So this is a great opportunity to really highlight that one student.
[16:06]
Thank you.
[16:07]
Okay.
[16:08]
That's so great.
[16:08]
Planning for success.
[16:10]
Updates.
[16:11]
Yes.
[16:11]
I know this would be riveting.
[16:12]
Compared to what we just did.
[16:14]
If you don't mind.
[16:16]
Being back, it's been something important to me to communicate with you all, the goals
[16:22]
and improving the district.
[16:26]
Let me just put.
[16:29]
Sorry, guys.
[16:33]
Yes.
[16:33]
I need to go on the screen.
[16:35]
I'm going to put this right on the screen for you guys.
[16:37]
I just, I've, with a set it up a minute ago, but I was too busy smiling for photographs.
[16:46]
Well, that's cute.
[16:57]
Okay. So, I just wanted to give you an update. We had a leadership team meeting
[17:01]
with Ruth, who had been my coach previously, but also does the work of the planning for success model with the Department of Ed.
[17:09]
We have started this work in June, and I wanted to kind of bring you up to speed with where we are, and where the plan is going.
[17:15]
The goal is to create a district plan for three years starting in 24 and moving forward.
[17:21]
And what we're really, really focusing on in today, I think we talked about as well as the conversation about the student you just saw, right?
[17:29]
Like, how do we help empower every student to maximize the opportunities in front of them?
[17:34]
And how do we get student voice? How do we get community voice?
[17:38]
And how do we dream up what that looks like? And not just have it be a task that we send and bring your paper and get it approved.
[17:43]
So I'm really excited about this work.
[17:46]
I want to go over with you what we're doing.
[17:49]
So these workshops, we had June 15th.
[17:53]
We had the first one.
[17:54]
We did a SWAT analysis and district data analysis.
[17:57]
We just did a regrouping because of me being out.
[18:00]
To be frank, we had to revisit and have everybody on the same page.
[18:05]
Because we all have to be together for the work.
[18:07]
We set our dates.
[18:09]
They are not on this list at the moment.
[18:10]
but they will be starting January 31st all the way until June 5th of next year, where we would
[18:19]
have some action planning workshops. The reason I'm bringing this year attention is that I will
[18:23]
be in December, kind of seeking maybe a volunteer or two from this board to sit on our
[18:29]
larger group of visioning work. So I just want to kind of get it in your brains, you kind of know
[18:33]
what you'd be signing up for. So approximately four retreats for the planning team, and we'd
[18:39]
to have a school board member or two on that.
[18:43]
So what we're going to do with it
[18:44]
is really do mission vision core values.
[18:47]
We're going to do some deep dive into the data
[18:49]
and our theory of action, create objectives.
[18:52]
And we say professional development and teacher induction.
[18:55]
We're already improving those things
[18:56]
and we've been trying to improve those things.
[18:59]
But we want to align them to where we're heading.
[19:02]
And that's going to be the three-year plan.
[19:04]
So as we make sure you guys kind of understand theory
[19:06]
and then you'll have those reps who will join us in the work
[19:09]
and hopefully report back when we're here.
[19:12]
The goal for that will be, and I don't want to read off the slides, but to create the plan,
[19:16]
we're aligning systems already.
[19:18]
I think you guys are aware of that.
[19:20]
But then also implement the work we can measure these success.
[19:24]
So one of the big items in that has to do with you all, and that's budgets and grants and how we get money.
[19:29]
So I think it's important to have one or two of you on that committee to really kind of help us
[19:34]
make sure we're all in line and not going to a stray from what the board wants.
[19:39]
So we did talk in June, and the goal was to kind of come up with from the leadership teams,
[19:45]
what are the strengths of our current practices and culture related to planning and implementation?
[19:51]
What are the weaknesses, what opportunities might we add to make this better?
[19:55]
And then what threats does this school system face as a result of current planning practices?
[19:59]
So I'm going to be honest with you, the threats and the weaknesses are really all about perception of the town,
[20:06]
money, what's available to them.
[20:08]
And what we're asking this team to do is to really dream in spite of all that, if that makes sense.
[20:15]
So we're a believer in like, remove what you perceive as a limit, dream the dream,
[20:20]
and then let's go fight for the dream.
[20:21]
And if we don't get it, we make our decisions.
[20:25]
But I'm being honest with you guys.
[20:26]
I'm not suggesting that we're expecting to go ask for the world.
[20:31]
But we want to be really centrally focused that we offer our budget.
[20:34]
We continue to draw our picture of what it is we're trying to do with it.
[20:38]
So that's just something important.
[20:41]
Opportunities, we want to bring in more players.
[20:43]
They identified that as a need across the district.
[20:46]
Teachers will see it's more connected if they have voice on the team.
[20:50]
We've a lot of this already happening with the NIS work we're doing.
[20:54]
The district accreditation is due to happen in the spring also.
[20:57]
So it's great about actually the timing change.
[21:00]
Is that we'll be able to put the feedback from that visit in with the plan
[21:04]
and have it all go into one road map forward.
[21:08]
So I think it's really the right time.
[21:11]
And I think our teachers have been voicing
[21:13]
that they're excited to see past where we've been, right?
[21:17]
The whole, we had the big pause with the pandemic
[21:19]
and so forth.
[21:20]
We're past that now, but instead of just going back to business
[21:22]
as usual, what do we want this district
[21:25]
to look like in 10 years?
[21:26]
What do we want the opportunity for kids in 10 years?
[21:28]
It's not what we do today, probably.
[21:31]
So that's what we're gonna really work on.
[21:34]
risk taking, we want to, so this is the culture opportunities that the leadership team identified,
[21:40]
was to allow staff to see that there's a united group of parents, kids, school board
[21:45]
member, and the whole of the whole should be. Let them see that team working for times in the year.
[21:51]
They're not easy. The three-hour sessions is working sessions. And then to come back and say,
[21:56]
take some risk that align with getting us to this place, right? We want you to feel safe to do that.
[22:01]
And then hopefully our staff will be willing to try those new initiatives and it also allows them to see consistent follow through when we report back on the work and what we're up to hopefully obtaining.
[22:13]
So I just wanted to share that with you. I have a slide for questions, but the commitment would be four sessions between January and June.
[22:22]
I will bring them to the December 13 meeting so that you can check your calendars.
[22:27]
And so if you have any interest at all, maybe.
[22:30]
Just like kind of, you know, let us know in December, and then we can hopefully pick two people out of this group to some really support the work.
[22:38]
That's that enough.
[22:39]
Any questions?
[22:45]
Great.
[22:45]
Can we just see where it goes?
[22:47]
Yeah, I'm excited about it.
[22:49]
Thank you.
[22:51]
Who is this guest?
[22:52]
Yes.
[22:53]
This is good.
[22:53]
No, that's okay.
[22:56]
So we meet on, I think, we have one meeting in December, so will we, I guess, talk about who's going
[23:03]
do it that. That's what I would like to do. If you're interested, maybe come to the table
[23:08]
then. If you have questions between now and then about the commitment, I'm happy to take
[23:12]
those individually. But then at that point, maybe you could share, and you guys could agree
[23:16]
or disagree on one to two members to be on that team. So, thank you.
[23:22]
Welcome.
[23:22]
There's this one question. So, there are obviously in the school district a lot of initiatives,
[23:28]
to have as a lot of teams.
[23:30]
Where does this one, is this like the master,
[23:33]
and you should just have the master team,
[23:34]
and then like the profile of learner,
[23:36]
and all the other things like that.
[23:37]
They all filter in.
[23:38]
And there are a couple of things you do feed into this.
[23:40]
Correct.
[23:41]
What are the meetings that we would have
[23:43]
would be for us to share all of that,
[23:45]
like where the district is today?
[23:47]
If you've got a 20 minute intro session of data
[23:50]
for everyone to get kind of up to speed,
[23:52]
so everybody in the room is talking
[23:53]
from the same language.
[23:56]
So that's our job to do it.
[23:57]
I think it's the first or second meeting, but we would introduce kind of the district, what we do, where it falls, but this is really going to be the master vision setting committee to create a document that we like live and breathe by for three years.
[24:11]
That's that's Michael.
[24:12]
This is where will these be held?
[24:15]
They would be held either in this library or at the administrative center depending on the number of people.
[24:20]
We're projecting, we might need the library, so probably here.
[24:23]
Okay, yeah, the private 25 people and totals that we're eyeballing.
[24:31]
Great.
[24:33]
Okay, discuss it up coming events, we have a next book and a meeting is December 13th.
[24:38]
That will be our only one in December.
[24:41]
Oh, Mr. Chair, would it be appropriate for me to mention an idea to you right now?
[24:46]
Sure.
[24:47]
It kind of comes on the idea, how much I like.
[24:49]
Okay, it's about the meetings.
[24:51]
Okay.
[24:51]
It's about the meetings.
[24:52]
So you have, we had scheduled the meetings to be as, um, you know, we don't want to bring you here for the sake of being here.
[25:00]
At the same time, we have a lot of this vision and work to do.
[25:03]
And we have a lot of, I think, some work to do together to kind of establish best practices for having that plan roll out.
[25:11]
So mine, just mentioned to you would be if the committee wants to consider.
[25:15]
Do we look at the future and say we hold the first meeting of a month as like a business meeting like this?
[25:22]
And have the second date be maybe a placeholder for your budget workshop.
[25:27]
You know, let's spend more time together doing the stuff we want to move the district forward.
[25:32]
Do we talk about having somebody come in talk about the roles and responsibilities?
[25:36]
I did have that meeting to get more information and I'm happy to share that with you at the next meeting if you want.
[25:42]
No.
[25:43]
Just an idea.
[25:44]
I mean, that's a light agenda.
[25:47]
Keep the dates.
[25:47]
That's what I was, yeah.
[25:48]
That's what I was doing.
[25:49]
A little bit of work if I have to workshop things, I think something to workshop.
[25:52]
On a topic, instead of being like, I'm asking you to perform more dates to do something
[25:57]
like, you know, that's how it works.
[25:58]
Can solidate the work.
[25:59]
It's efficient.
[26:00]
Can you read?
[26:01]
Can you read?
[26:01]
Can you read?
[26:02]
Yeah, I like it.
[26:04]
So I'll time next meeting with some date projections for the spring and they'll include the dates
[26:09]
for the people who are going to volunteer.
[26:13]
So do we need to make a motion to go from a second and fourth usually is how we need to one meeting?
[26:22]
Do we have to get a new calendar for the means?
[26:26]
What I'm going to bring a draft to the next one, because what I can do is include these planning sessions that are in the day time.
[26:31]
I could share those with you guys, so people who want to volunteer for that kind of see a bigger picture of what it means for them.
[26:39]
But then if we had the other meeting date, I'd ask you still to hold it.
[26:43]
Maybe you could vote on that if you like what I present to you.
[26:46]
I could bring two options or something.
[26:48]
I don't know.
[26:50]
I just want to be more efficient in
[26:54]
Fix more problems together.
[26:56]
I'm sure you guys love that right now.
[26:58]
We'll look great, two to our meetings.
[27:02]
All the room is fine.
[27:03]
So, I'll save your motion maybe for next time if you like the proposal.
[27:06]
How's that?
[27:06]
Sounds good.
[27:08]
So, I'm going to bring two to you next time.
[27:10]
Hey, unfinished business, efficient school committee update.
[27:14]
We have a quick update on that.
[27:16]
We did.
[27:17]
We talked about before.
[27:18]
There was some verbal communication.
[27:19]
There was some room communication back and forth.
[27:21]
We did get a response back and writing.
[27:24]
I'm going to be reviewing that with the administration tomorrow morning.
[27:26]
They can report out on that, the next meeting, I did reach out to their chair to suggest
[27:33]
a meeting between them and myself, the phone call, it still starts talking about the issues
[27:39]
and what are the other issues, how can we discuss them, how can we move forward in a productive
[27:45]
friendly way towards a goal?
[27:48]
So, I'm not here back yet, but I'm looking to hear back.
[27:50]
You still haven't heard back?
[27:52]
Okay, I did want to mention that I reached out to the superintendent separately because I know you're a relationship with the chair will be different than mine with the superintendent
[28:01]
She did respond to me to kind of put me in the loop last night
[28:06]
So she shares that they don't want to stop having an agreement with us as she told me at least hopefully that matches what you've heard
[28:14]
And that the idea would be just to broaden the opportunities and that they have an appetite for discussing possible regionalization
[28:21]
with what she wrote in the email.
[28:22]
So I feel like there's some interesting progress
[28:26]
that we might need that second meeting for
[28:28]
for people who specialize in that talk.
[28:31]
In addition to that, one thing I wanted to share
[28:33]
is I watched some of the meetings.
[28:37]
And I just want to just put this out there
[28:39]
and say that I think it's important
[28:40]
that we stand top of what we're about
[28:42]
and protect what we have here.
[28:45]
And the perception of budget cuts from the town
[28:48]
is a big part of why this conversation is happening.
[28:53]
So that's crystal clear.
[28:54]
It has always been a danger.
[28:56]
And we knew it.
[28:58]
We knew it.
[28:59]
So just know that we're going to budget season.
[29:01]
I'm going to be a little bit fired up about the messaging that it creates.
[29:06]
I anticipate myself being fired up.
[29:09]
Your decision?
[29:11]
Well, danger.
[29:14]
So has the totem administrator been informed about the discussions
[29:18]
that this is a Christian school committee in regards to our budget situation of the previous cuts.
[29:24]
Not yet, we are going to be meeting in the next couple of weeks. So I think when we meet,
[29:27]
I'll be letting her know what I've observed and what I've heard in the communication and kind of
[29:31]
update her. My plan is to update her and what I've heard.
[29:35]
Because I mean, I think it would be, you know, we go, you know, we've gone to the Fincom meetings last
[29:41]
We've, you know, presented to the Slack board and we've told them all these things and, you know, some people, some of them, you know, took us seriously and, and, um, and listen to what we had to say on others, I feel as though weren't necessarily, um, you know,
[29:58]
Anyway, so I think it's more
[30:00]
More powerful if they hear it from them, and they actually see the words that are said versus hearing us that, you know, we said that they're upset with us.
[30:10]
Sure, I'll work on capturing that, but I do plan on not being, I'm not going to leave anything up for the imagination in my communication with the budget.
[30:18]
Okay, great. Thank you.
[30:24]
It's really hard to take the hits we took last year in the comments that were made and we took it and we're professional and at the same time we had to take some hits and make some hard decisions that I don't love and I don't anticipate doing that again
[30:40]
That's all.
[30:42]
Great.
[30:44]
New business.
[30:45]
Both to approve a donation of a communication board from a foodie foundation for East
[30:49]
for Haven Elementary School.
[30:51]
So good news.
[30:52]
Imagine.
[30:53]
Good news for asking a vote on this.
[30:55]
It's a communication board that helps with students who have autism or other developmental
[30:59]
delays.
[31:00]
And we're really excited about the possibility of taking that donation and getting that board
[31:05]
installed so that kids can communicate better on the playground and how they feel and things
[31:09]
like that.
[31:09]
Great. Oh, that's awesome.
[31:13]
Any questions in this before we go?
[31:16]
May I have a motion to approve Odenese a donation of a communication board
[31:19]
from the Flute Foundation for East for Haven Elementary School?
[31:22]
Is there a motion?
[31:25]
Is there a motion?
[31:26]
Second.
[31:27]
Thank you.
[31:29]
Roll a call, vote.
[31:31]
Mr. Monroe, vote the 1st.
[31:33]
Yes.
[31:34]
Mr. Anderson.
[31:35]
Yes.
[31:35]
This is Pichico.
[31:37]
Yes.
[31:38]
You can, yes. Yes, yes.
[31:40]
As you and us, thank you very much.
[31:43]
Can you draft the letter?
[31:44]
You will do that.
[31:46]
Thank you.
[31:47]
So vote on representative for the Lagoa Friendship,
[31:50]
my proud to rate, Lagoa.
[31:52]
Lagoa?
[31:52]
Lagoa.
[31:53]
I had committee.
[31:54]
So I did get a communication from Mr. Richard.
[31:58]
This committee is just civic cultural educational
[32:02]
other activities that expand for everybody's partnership with the
[32:05]
municipality of Lagoa, Portugal.
[32:07]
And part of the committee is to be filled by one of us.
[32:13]
Anyone who has an interest in building the Begoa, Friendship, Pat Committee.
[32:20]
I don't believe it meets very often.
[32:21]
Exactly, isn't it?
[32:23]
So I believe if that's the sister city kind of time.
[32:27]
So I believe there's like a sister city in Portugal that is with us and the committee sometimes is more involved
[32:33]
and sometimes is not.
[32:35]
But I believe they like to have represented from the schools.
[32:37]
I think Mr. Boyne, I used to do that.
[32:39]
Is that right?
[32:39]
I like something.
[32:43]
I'm 25%.
[32:44]
Fortigase, so maybe I just step off.
[32:46]
I just...
[32:47]
I can't do that.
[32:48]
It's a good room.
[32:50]
It doesn't seem like we got a lot of hands raised.
[32:52]
You know, I'm 25%.
[32:54]
I'm 25%.
[32:54]
I'm not about about what you get.
[32:56]
I can't be seconded.
[32:57]
Now, let's get a second.
[32:58]
So, can we have an nomination for a second?
[33:02]
I'm...
[33:02]
Let's go.
[33:03]
All those in favor, we will go around the room here.
[33:05]
Sorry. I am all in favor of, um, yes, not me.
[33:13]
Yes, I'm in favor.
[33:15]
Oh, this is pick up.
[33:17]
I heard yes. Oh, good.
[33:20]
Mr. Anderson. Yes, this is Pijico.
[33:23]
This is pick up. Yes.
[33:26]
Yes. Yes.
[33:27]
I'm so happy to ask you. Congratulations. Thanks.
[33:29]
I don't even know what that is.
[33:30]
My favorite quote of the night is I'm 25% Portuguese.
[33:33]
I'll bring nothing to the meeting.
[33:37]
And one thing, particularly, I'm so into for that, but I know.
[33:42]
When I reached, I guess.
[33:45]
Oh, okay.
[33:46]
I get this.
[33:46]
Individual committee members.
[33:48]
You started an instrument role?
[33:50]
I would just ask, I think, you know, one thing that was brought up during when we were selecting a candidate this particular.
[33:59]
So, um, was the policy, some of our policies are out of date and we did talk about that
[34:05]
at some previous policy, some committee meetings about, you know, going and we've also talked
[34:10]
about our previous school committee meetings about going through and kind of doing an audit
[34:14]
of our existing policies to make sure that we bring them up to date, you know, with the current
[34:22]
MASC policy documents that are out there. So I think I think it'd be a good goal for maybe, you know,
[34:27]
the next year, is it's going to take a while to start to take a chunk of each of those and
[34:35]
start holding maybe, I don't know, monthly policies, many meetings where we can take maybe 10
[34:41]
of the time or something and just go through and see what the updates are and then so we can bring
[34:48]
our entire policy catalog up to date.
[34:54]
It's a great idea.
[34:56]
Again, if we get rid of that second meeting for some folks and might entice them to be a part of that more often.
[35:02]
Now, this is felt.
[35:04]
You can have more meetings of the results of the idea of last meeting.
[35:07]
Maybe, I mean, I know December would might be hard, but I mean, if possible,
[35:12]
they'd have a meeting in December and then or start, or we could just start in January at the ground running.
[35:17]
and just, you know, throw a monthly policy subcommittee meeting out there.
[35:23]
Mr. Chair, I'll share some dates with the policy subcommittee, Mr. Mirop, and I will see
[35:29]
what everybody can get on board with and we'll play them out. Sounds good. Thank you.
[35:33]
That's great. Anybody else?
[35:37]
That's great. Thanks. I saw that there's work starting to happen, the shed, any updates on
[35:46]
how that's going and that's the project we set out to bid is.
[35:50]
I saw giant green there and it saw things that taped off so I was just, you know,
[35:53]
I'd tell him to drive it around.
[35:55]
Mr. Baskar.
[35:55]
Mr. Baskar.
[35:56]
So, we're excited.
[35:57]
We finally, we're able to break around and get everything ready to go on the
[36:00]
storage facility project, so they've excavated the area, they've poured the
[36:04]
footings in concrete wall process, so that's setting over the weekend, and they'll start
[36:09]
with backfill next week and in prepare to pour the slab, so we're excited with the
[36:14]
I'm also saying that I'm excellent work.
[36:16]
They've been very responsible, very responsive.
[36:19]
It's been a good experience this far.
[36:20]
So we're excited to get that completed.
[36:22]
And then we'll continue to work with both
[36:23]
to set the spring date and timeline for
[36:25]
when they're stick billed will begin.
[36:28]
And then we'll also be going out to bid for the
[36:30]
Masonry Work and Roofing, probably January, February-ish.
[36:36]
I just want to note that the football team success
[36:38]
did delay the ability to do that.
[36:42]
So I just want to say that we got really close
[36:44]
not being able to do it, but thank you guys for pulling it off in time.
[36:49]
It is all worth it.
[36:50]
It is all worth it.
[36:51]
Yes.
[36:53]
So, dispel strategy for the roofing.
[36:57]
Is it possible for us to ask your freedoms?
[37:00]
I know our company donates a lot to the community.
[37:04]
Is it an asphalt roof or?
[37:06]
I believe it's going to be the Belmont Chingles.
[37:09]
Belmont.
[37:10]
It's like a faux sleeve.
[37:11]
It's like a faux sleeve.
[37:13]
So you look like the other one, but we can definitely reach out to you guys with respects.
[37:18]
Yeah, because if you were to get a free single, we typically use GIF, we have a great partnership with them,
[37:24]
and they do have some designer singles. Awesome. If you could just let me know, because that's okay.
[37:30]
Okay, guys, if we could do it for Frank, I mean, we want to go ahead.
[37:33]
That'd be great. So we'll reach out to you then, and then you know, if you could just let us know, because I might be able to secure that.
[37:38]
So we're, I think you have to get the specs from vote, but then we can take that and check with you guys on, if you find something that'd be amazing. So thank you.
[37:46]
Okay, we had that on our note, actually, because you mentioned it on meeting ones, and we were like, it's going to be bad to call them, it would be like, can we really do it?
[37:53]
No, I mean, because it's not, I mean, I don't think, how does it look like it would be that much square, so.
[37:58]
Right, it's pretty small, so I mean, if it's one little even if it's, you know,
[38:03]
a few thousand dollars that you can save it, so yeah, thank you.
[38:08]
Thank you so much.
[38:09]
Thank you so much.
[38:11]
Thank you.
[38:11]
Yes.
[38:12]
I would just like to thank the school committee and also the Select Board for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful team.
[38:23]
I can't wait to do some great things for the kids of Fairhaven, and I'm very excited, so thank you all for having faith in me, and hopefully I can fill some pretty big shoes that Kyle left.
[38:38]
Thank you.
[38:39]
Thank you.
[38:39]
Thank you.
[38:41]
I can't laugh like that.
[38:42]
When it comes for sure.
[38:43]
No, no.
[38:44]
Thank you.
[38:45]
Thank you so much.
[38:45]
You're so good.
[38:46]
Thank you.
[38:48]
Kyle's off.
[38:49]
There's one of a kind.
[38:49]
Yeah, I do not see any business.
[38:56]
Mr. Chairman, sorry, one more thing, just so you guys all know, as soon as I hang up here,
[39:02]
I'm actually going to see Mr. White House.
[39:05]
So, tell me, say hello.
[39:07]
We have a website.
[39:08]
Tell me, say hi.
[39:09]
And don't spend too much time and money tonight.
[39:14]
I'm not going to say I'm one.
[39:16]
Get some nachos.
[39:17]
Yes.
[39:18]
Get some nachos.
[39:20]
Okay. We have no business, not recently anticipated. We do have to go into executive session and we will not be returning it to open session.
[39:28]
And the reason we are going to executive session is to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation.
[39:34]
If an open meeting they have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigation, litigation positions, public body and the chair are so declared.
[39:44]
We have a motion to enter into executive session.
[39:46]
We don't need to come back out, though.
[39:49]
We don't need to come back out.
[39:51]
So, we're second.
[39:53]
Mr. Madral?
[39:56]
Yes.
[39:57]
Mr. Anderson?
[39:58]
Yes.
[39:58]
Is Kuchiko?
[39:59]
Yes.
[40:01]
Yes.
[40:02]
We are adjourned for exactly the session.
