is just showing uh and I think I gave
each of you a listing of the funds we
[10:28]
have for this budget year and the uh
this is the uh listed amount needed to
[10:35]
pave these streets listed below it. And
so we put this list together by uh just
[10:41]
phone calls that we received from our
office and public works office and then
[10:45]
also uh city council recommendations and
just um from what you all hear from your
[10:51]
constituents. So um and then we uh we we
had a big list and we brought it down to
[10:57]
this list so we can get all these uh
streets hopefully paved this year.

And just to I guess I could read off
those streets here.

Second Street, Oxford Drive, West
Clinton Street, about half of West
[11:12]
Clinton Street. We're gonna try to do
the rest of it hopefully next year. And
[11:16]
then uh Dell Hollow from Ruff River to
Taylor'sville. And then Ruff River from
[11:21]
Baron River to Payne's uh Avenue, Hayawa
from US 25 to Arapjo, Highland Court. We
[11:29]
have that listed because we're hoping to
uh put a speed bump on that street
[11:33]
because we've gotten a lot of complaints
with the traffic. So that's what we're
[11:37]
looking to with that one.
Uh Lidle Way, the entire street, East
[11:42]
Jackson Street, Fernhill Drive, Old
Mill, Creek View Court, Brian Avenue,
[11:50]
Canewood Boulevard, about half of the
Masters, the second half,
[11:55]
Payne's Landing Boulevard entrance
because we're going to put new striping
[11:58]
at the entrance there.
East Main extended from the new Waw Wa
[12:03]
entrance to the railroad. And then Aztec
from Simol to Chakatah, Bourbon Street
[12:09]
about half the street. We paved the
first half of Bourbon Street about two
[12:12]
years ago and then the uh city hall
parking lot in that street part of uh
[12:17]
city hall or North Court Street there.

annual allocation of MAP funds, it goes
[13:36]
into uh a specific account. We still
have some funds available from previous
[13:40]
years balances adding up just when
contractors can't get the projects
[13:44]
completed, things like that. Um, with
this year's budget, as you know, there's
[13:48]
funding included, assuming it's
approved, to do that, uh, city street
[13:51]
assessment that will essentially, uh, I
think the last one was 2010. It's very
[13:56]
old. Um, so do that assessment. We'll
then have a spreadsheet, and I think
[14:01]
Councilman Minky asked a question about
this, so sorry to steal your thunder,
[14:04]
mayor. I'm going to go ahead and kind of
answer it a little bit. Um, that
[14:07]
spreadsheet, it it'll spit out all kinds
of information. And some of it means
[14:11]
something to me, some of it is is
French, but basically it will rate the
[14:15]
streets in terms of condition and
priority, but it will also create a
[14:18]
mechanism for us to track when streets
are resurfaced. So we right now the
[14:23]
engineering office has data u back to
2007 about when streets were resurfaced.
[14:27]
They're putting that into a spreadsheet
right now so that it can easily be added
[14:31]
when that new assessment's completed. So
to the question of do we have that list
[14:36]
right now? Yes, but it's really outdated
and it needs and it needs spruced. So,
[14:40]
this year's budget would allow us to do
that. And then um the city engineer and
[14:45]
Chay um Eddie and Chay are working on a
system that that spreadsheet needs to
[14:50]
have everything that meets our needs.
And right now, it just has what the
[14:53]
contractor will do. So, what we need to
add is that component of tracking when
[14:56]
each street is resurfaced. So, we know,
okay, Hayawa Trail was repaved in such
[15:00]
and such year. strange that it's in poor
condition now or you know kind of
[15:04]
considering whether wear and tear is
greater on some streets. So they're
[15:07]
working on that process to improve that
moving forward and I think this uh
[15:11]
assessment will be the kind of
springboard for that. Um so to answer
[15:14]
the question about the 2024 2025
pre-existing funds tonight at the
[15:19]
council meeting you all will be asked to
accept the next round of funding um just
[15:23]
under $900,000. Um, so each year that
that funding essentially just kind of
[15:28]
builds and if you can spend it all down,
our goal this year is to use that
[15:32]
assessment to be able to spend a lot of
that money down because it it's there
[15:35]
and ready to be spent.
And one one more comment on that traffic
[15:39]
combing. Um, we do need to still adopt
that. So that is something that will
[15:43]
have to come back to the council is
adopting that plan that banks put
[15:46]
together. Um, and then once that's
adopted, those are the action items that
[15:50]
that you you all would either hear about
or they go through traffic committee
[15:53]
depending on what tier they fall in. So
that will come back to you all um
[15:56]
hopefully in the near future.

So if there are new projects that come
up, we can just hold in the future. This
[16:09]
doesn't lock it in for this year. So
just know we'll have that opportunity in
[16:14]
the future as we learn more.

is just a detailed listing of the the
cost breakdown per street. We worked
[16:24]
closely with the contractor to get that
detailed estimate.

And something else with this assessment
that's going to be done. And like you
[16:32]
say, if you pave a street this year and
then five years later it's in terrible
[16:37]
shape, then it will probably tell us
that that road is used a lot too. So
[16:41]
yeah. Or something being torn up on that
with equipment. So uh that's a good news
[16:46]

Uh, not right now. And I always contact

Columbia Gas, GMWS beforehand
um before we pave these streets just to
[17:34]
make sure that they if there is anything
near in the future, they will uh let me
[17:38]
know about it so we're not repaving over
top. And and currently with our
[17:43]
ordinance with Columbia Gas, they're
doing really well. If if they cut the
[17:47]
street, they have to go back full width
and pave that portion. Um you've seen it
[17:52]
in Jefferson
uh on that side of town at Water Street,
[17:55]
that area. They just repaved all that
with CNR and those are actual where they
[18:00]
used to do with the strip up the road
like how West Clinton is has the big
[18:04]
strip with the ordinance. Now they have
to go full width. So that prevents it
[18:09]
from us having to go back in a couple
years and redo the whole street.
