[3:49] the month of August, we had a calls to service. We ended up with 10

[3:54] arrests. Uh one arrest for disorderly conduct,

[3:57] two arrests for warrants, uh five arrests for violations of no

[4:01] contact orders. Um

[4:04] or I'm sorry, one arrest for violation of contact orders, then five arrests for

[4:09] assault DVs, domestic violence, and one MIP. So, uh um domestic violence was

[4:14] kind of up in the month of August. Uh it was just hot weather, or people staying

[4:19] up later, stuck in their house, or what it was, but that was definitely up

[4:23] from the last few months, and we're about uh 2,495

[4:27] calls for the year so far. So, we're well above what we used to be, so.

[4:32] » My understanding is domestic violence is one of the most dangerous calls for

[4:37] police officers to respond to. >> It is one of the

[4:40] » Yeah. >> one of the top ones. So, that's just one

[4:43] of those where, you know, it gets gets a little dicey sometimes, but

[5:14] hearing. Uh we've advertised for that for the last couple weeks,

[5:18] and uh then that'll be presented to you. You'll all have paper copies of it, and

[5:23] it'll be on the website, too, uh if you want to look that over in advance.

[5:28] And then uh you know, the the whole point of having

[5:31] that parks plan, if you might remember, is once we get that adopted,

[5:35] then that'll be make us more eligible for grants for our parks, grants from

[5:41] RCO that we wouldn't be eligible for without that plan. So, it's just another

[5:47] tool for us to have at our disposal so we uh

[5:50] were more eligible for that that kind of stuff. So, it'll be nice to get that

[5:53] wrapped up. Uh next time you get a chance drive by the World War II park.

[5:58] The pickleball courts are just about done. They were put They were painting

[6:02] today. Getting the stripes on there. So,

[6:05] that'll be finished up pretty soon. So, I know I've heard a lot of excitement in

[6:09] the community to have those operational.

[6:14] Um The other thing is we talked about the TBI grants that we applied for for

[6:20] Mill Street and Railroad. Uh we should know by November, the first

[6:26] part of November, if we've gotten awarded either one or both of those. So,

[6:32] we'll keep you up to date on that as soon as we find out.

[7:19] anything else they might want to change about what we've done.

[7:27] that's across the street from where the buses go to see if they cuz since the

[7:32] school owns it to see if they would make that either the pickup for the

[7:37] adults to or the parents to go through and pick up the kids or anything like

[7:41] that cuz we had kind of discussed that at our last our meeting.

[7:49] to meet with him and uh principal of the school right there on site so we could

[8:21] you know, it'd be good for to pull in there so it's not lined up much, but

[8:25] actually they still have to go through the school to pick the kids up.

[8:28] So, the school and maybe like I said, maybe different with the new sub. We'll

[8:32] bring that up to the new administration. >> And if you would like, uh we could make

[8:37] sure that the traffic safety committee, which is yourself and Steve Johnston, uh

[8:42] get gets an invite to that meet up and maybe you guys would like to

[8:47] sit in on that, too. Might be a good idea.

[9:12] side, it's a drive through to get into the school. No No kids cross that street

[9:16] to get in there. I've stopped We stopped I think six new families that just moved

[9:20] in. We hit the school zones very hard at the beginning of the year. Educated a

[9:24] lot of people before that. They're all been advised that cars that park there

[9:28] will get towed. So, you leave your car there, go bring your kid over there. By

[9:32] the time you get back, I'm going to have a tow truck and tow your car. So, that's

[9:35] kind of We're not messing around with that. I got similar towing on standby.

[9:40] You know, and then working through this. So, it's one of those things that that

[9:44] the problem is it's just not what Mark wanted to go. You know, the first 2

[9:47] weeks of school we really hit it hard to educate parents and you know, a lot of

[9:51] people just didn't know. And so, that person is out there I said 25 minutes

[9:56] till the person finally came out and had a long discussion with them explained

[10:00] the routes that they just didn't know. You know, the school didn't send out

[10:03] flyers and didn't educate the parents when they first enrolled in school so

[10:07] that you know, you know, that's why we get kind of that

[10:09] 2-week grace period. By now, everybody that goes to that school should know the

[10:13] rules and be able to read the signs that says no parking or loading zones. You

[10:17] know, and hopefully with this next meeting we can work something out maybe

[10:20] get some paint on the roads that actually designate the loading zones or

[10:23] the the pickup, you know, zones but Well, I was

[10:29] I thought they parked on actually both sides of that street back

[10:35] north of the loading zone. Yeah, so what they do on the

[10:39] um west side

[10:41] going all the way back to Collins, they line up. They go to the side of the road

[10:46] but they're still moving. And as they get to the entrance of the cafeteria,

[10:51] the car crosses over picks up little Johnny or Susie in the cafeteria area,

[10:55] circles the parking lot comes out and then goes back towards Collins.

[10:59] And so, there's nobody no cars can be left on that side. That's for loading

[11:03] and then they can't park in between the where the apartments entrance or sign is

[11:07] for that. So, there's gaps there but that's just so you know, people live

[11:11] there and get in and get it out during those times

[11:13] if need be. >> Okay, I'll just you know, try to avoid

[11:16] it. We're again but we didn't have options that were presented.

[11:19] » Yeah, we'd love it. I mean, above that if you keep going

[11:22] south on Schuster past the buses, they can

[11:27] park there and then walk their kid in if they want but

[12:02] Chief Smith talk about traffic safety on the radio. He did an interview last

[12:06] week. Uh just a good refresher, especially with school back in session.

[12:12] Uh you know, you don't want to be passing school buses with red lights on

[12:16] and stuff like that, important things about traffic safety and uh especially

[12:21] now that school's back in session, so you can hear about all about it on the

[12:24] radio. Also, uh I just wanted to bring up, you

[12:28] know, last week I attended a workshop that the county commissioners held about

[12:34] some proposed data centers in our area. And uh you know, just to make sure

[12:39] everybody knows, none of these are being proposed within the city limits, so it

[12:43] won't come before us. But, I think it's still something that

[12:48] will definitely have impacts on us, and it's good to keep up on. You know, I've

[12:52] been advocating for impact fees that I could benefit the city of Goldendale

[12:58] because, no doubt, a big project like that have impacts on the city, on our

[13:03] police department, our public works, our roads, everything else. So, that's what

[13:08] I've been advocating with the commissioners and uh

[13:11] you know, the uh county planning department and stuff to

[13:15] get some impact fees and community benefit agreements included in any

[13:20] ordinance they might draft and deals they make with them. So,

[13:24] I think it's It's thing to, you know, keep on with, and I would encourage the

[13:28] council, too, to stay informed on these some of these big projects that are

[13:33] being proposed in our area, and some of them are already uh being built right

[13:38] now, and uh might not might not be in city limits,

[13:43] but it's definitely still going to have an impact on our city.

[13:46] So, anyways, uh that was all I had for you today.
