[3:07] Well, thank you mayor council for putting on the agenda. Um be the first

[3:12] officer of year award for the police department. Um

[3:17] um last year um I think we can all say as a city um collectively it was a hard

[3:24] year all of us and um losing three officers um was definitely hard

[3:31] on schedule and morale and um officer S

[3:38] um I would say never never lost that I think he's kind of

[3:44] been my anchor um when I needed somebody to talk to,

[3:47] but Officer Song, he does work our third shift, which many of you guys probably

[3:50] haven't seen him before. Um he's out of sight on mine.

[3:55] Unfortunately, he's not with me. Um he works Friday, Saturday, Sundays. If you

[4:02] ask what our schedule's like, um it's all over the board. Um Officer Ka works

[4:08] a kind of a odd schedule. uh third shift. So then officer Som

[4:14] takes up the last three days which is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So I

[4:17] applaud him for picking up that shift because it's a weekend. Um a lot of us

[4:21] like to enjoy our fun time on the weekend. So I applaud for doing that. So

[4:26] when Officer S is on call or when he's working on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday,

[4:31] um I'm planning my phone to go off in the middle of the night. Um he is very

[4:36] proactive. Um he spends a lot of time researching and reading on drug cases

[4:43] and drug law. So if we ever have a question on drug law, we go to officers.

[4:49] Um through 2025, I just give you a little

[4:53] rough sketch of what he has done. Um several marijuana arrest. Um got six

[4:59] here. Couple meth um two meth arrests, one cocaine. Um several paraphernalia

[5:05] and one seized firearm. On top of that, several OBVIS, couple domestics, and

[5:11] what the city and council does understand, officer S does a lot outside

[5:15] the city of Hudson. Um, he assists, state patrol, world police department,

[5:21] blockout county, and does a lot of work for the drug task force. That's a lot of

[5:25] information um I cannot share with you and what he does, but he's definitely an

[5:30] asset to not just the city of Hudson, but to

[5:35] the county as a whole. So, being this is first year, um I think

[5:43] of something to keep our morale up in PD. We have a

[5:48] great team at the PD. Um we lost to good officers.

[5:53] We fought through it. And I think eventually as a city as a

[5:57] whole, we'll get better. Um, but so I'm not going to sit here and um

[6:05] I don't know what word to say, but um I just wanted to recognize officer song

[6:09] for the hard work he has done, not just for the city and not for the police

[6:13] department, but just for the county as a whole. And I think this um award is

[6:18] welld deserved. Um, I just I can't wait till there's weekend

[6:24] that my phone does not go off so I can enjoy maybe a cocktail or two.

[6:32] Um, but um I tell you this song has um encountered

[6:38] um I would say about six five to six um

[6:43] incidents that um I have talked to him about to maybe go see a therapist on. um

[6:50] for being as young as he is in his field, he has encountered some some

[6:54] tragic events. Um as his boss, I I kind of worry about,

[6:59] but um he does have a good support system, not just the PD, but outside the

[7:05] PD. Um so um so we can get going here. Um

[16:06] » It's 100% reimburse. It's no cost to the city. Um I just give them the receipts.

[16:10] They they paid for it already. I've got to book a hotel room on a city card and

[16:16] then once I come back all the receipts then they reimburse.

[16:26] of what what this count what this uh >> I don't know if I I wrote a little

[16:33] synopsis of what it is. Back in uh May of 2025, um I got nominated to be on

[16:39] this board. The the prior successor whatever was the chief of

[16:44] independence. He retired. He now led me to take his position. The FBI CEUS board

[16:50] is basically CEUS is the criminal justice information um service that we

[16:56] use on a daily basis that um we get our information from. you know,

[17:03] stolen stolen cars, stolen guns, wanted people, driver's license, criminal

[17:08] history, etc. like that. So, I'm new to this. I mean, I'm new to the sieges, but

[17:12] I'm new to this board. So, I'm kind of interested on my role.

[17:17] » Okay. >> Um, I am the only representative for the

[17:20] state of Iowa. They pick 50 out of 50 states to do this.

[17:24] » So, um, whatever I learn, I come back and I take it to the chief's association

[17:28] board, um, which is on next on the agenda. But um

[17:35] » Don't know. It's a I go twice a year. Um that's all I know. I don't think there's

[17:40] a term until I guess if I want to get the seat out. So um I just thought it's

[17:55] knowledge is um >> good recognition. recognition not just

[17:59] for state of Ohio, also for the city of Hudson, too.

[20:19] hours, the three-day event. Um I'm also on another board there which

[20:25] is the I represent um almost 70% of Iowa police departments

[20:31] which is a small I'm the chairperson for the small small agency committee. Um I

[20:37] got nominated at the same time. So there's still a lot on my plate. So once

[20:40] again it's honor do that. Um we meet um through Zoom probably every three

[20:46] months. were supposed to meet this last Friday down in um

[20:51] oh my god in Brainford West Liberty but due to the

[20:56] weather I did not drive down there but anyways um so then whatever we do

[21:00] throughout the year as a um small committee I have a couple people

[21:04] underneath me kind of like mayor and city council um I at that conference um

[21:10] basically I give a report for for the month so there's a lot of vendors there.

[21:16] I mean, I think probably you guys business people have been into

[21:20] conferences, enjoy spenders there trying to give us spend us spend money,

[21:24] whatnot. Um, the last three years, our car here at Hudson was a um used as a a

[21:30] show car. I think our post on our Facebook page, which is also an honor

[21:35] for um our company, which is sector. So as I like I said it's good um good

[21:42] speakers, good learning, good training and uh great networking

[21:46] » cost >> um it's 225 for the um

[21:54] conference and then it's 39 for the hotel. So total I think I put it 77 7

[22:00] something >> 480 for the hotel 705 total cost

[22:04] and he does note that you've got an available balance of

[22:09] 12,309 in your training budget and this would come from there. So it's been

[26:24] hopefully this quote will go down a little bit so we won't have to do

[26:33] and then they follow it with a robotic camera and they inspect the pipe from

[26:38] the inside. So we can check for tree roots, offset pipes, blockages,

[26:44] the prevent backups, which we don't have many backups.

[26:49] I think in the 11 years I've been here, we've had about six sewer backups.
